Remember, you can't please everybody.
So just play what you want and try to ignore the "haters".

I feel like often times people will attack the killer more because they have people behind them. Some stuff people do, they WOULDNT do if they were alone.
Exactly, herd mentality play a major role in the toxicity in this game. The masses feeling stronger and individually safer blaming the individual.

I've noticed that alot of killers don't take pity hooks i feel like its a sense of pride. I find it kind of weird because I almost never see a survivor refuse hatch I does happen bit it's rare.
That maybe be because when the supposed killer (predator) does it, it's mercy, and when the supposed survivor (prey), it's pity, and both have different positive/negative connotations.

Rainbow six siege, tactical PvP Shooter.

People have optimized the hell out of this game like they do with any game over time.
Just like in the beginning of R6S defender barricaded themselves close to the objective room and attacker tried to crack the defense. Nowadays defender have stealth to roam the whole map, offensive tools, their own drones and so on and attackers also have defensive tool against lurker/roamer and multitude of other utility. This is one of the reasons why I won't go back to that game, despite having actively played it for the first 2-3 from release. I am just way to behind, have too many old habits that are counterproductive and there is too much new stuff and strategies to learn. (Also that game always sucked as solo after a certain point of rank/skill)
Games and the way they are played change drastically over their lifetime when player development more optimized gameplay. Of course that sucks out the fun for casual when the respective game doesn't have a working matchmaking and/or a separate ranked queue.
-
Pics please, I don't play anymore but would love to see it.

I've been attempting to play more off-meta builds and play more fairly for survivors. This usually involves a combination of trying to hook every survivor at least once, and sometimes letting them all escape even though I had multiple chances to kill one of them. I'm amazed at how many survivor streams or EGC I see where, even though I played in a totally weird way and didn't pick up and kill someone, they still think I was playing toxic, tunneling, or any number of things. The gameplay changes from game to game, and if you get unhooked and go for a body block, yes, I'm going to hit you and/or down you. BUT, I might leave you to sit there for a while and go chase someone else. Every time, without fail, survivors never question WHY I'm leaving them down, they simply think I'm "slugging" rather than giving them a second chance to get recovered after a stupid play. For all the complaining survivors make about killers not playing fair, they don't recognize it when it's happening right in front of them.
Don't worry, I did exactly this for two years, as an experiment on survivor feedback, and the great end result is 80-90% don't care and won't acknowledge it.
It's mostly silence and a portion of direct aggression/toxicity. Recognition and (explicit) gratitude are in an extreme minority.
If that's your goal, better quit. This mindest will burn you out over time.
-
Sure, if you enjoy to play 90% of your matches alongside three bots, hoping that the killer will stay in such a game. /S
-
Why would or should someone be exactly at 40% escape rate personally?
Some are better or have better luck, some less.
Just like killer will experience everything from a 0k to a 4k, depending on their luck, experience, playstyle and so on.
Expecting the majority of people to have this exact average is unrealistic. They will be mostly above or below it and only the grant average will end up with the mentioned 44/56%
-
I am seeing many people calling DBD a casual party game, so why should people have to spend hundreds of hours to have fun with a killer character?

Get rid of my motion sickness and vomiting when I play it! Problem...not solved? 🤢 I aint about to vomit over a vidiya game lol.
Can't play any fps games unfortunately. Can't even watch vidiyas about em. Sucks 😢
Just out of curiosity, how is traveling (for example by car) for you?
I have a friend that gets sick when she can't see the road. She either has to be the driver, on the passenger seat or needs a clear view ahead.
-
Not really an interesting story but I played like you for two years to see how survivor would react to such a playtstyle, with all the "camping, slugging, tunneling" many people complain about on the forums.
One match on dead dawg saloon, it went similar to yours and I brought the guy I downed during egc to the doors. Everyone "escaped".
In after game I saw 3 average survivor and one iri grade with the most BP.
No comments except for the iri who gave me a "Don't cry, noob".
I gave them a "?" Since I was quite perplexed they could think that the match would have any impact on my emotional state since I never gave any indication of it, like hanging my head or other things.
Like I said not really interesting but it was so strange that it stuck with me.

Unranked tends to be dealt with differently in every game that actually separates the 'competitive' mode player base.
Examples of games in most familiar with personally, in Overwatch the ranked mode has disconnect penalties, a 2 minute grace period for rejoining a match with no penalty. But the unranked quick play mode has no disconnect penalty at all, as well as backfill with new teammates.
Apex has a very similar system, but with no backfill for the unranked mode.
It gets weird with DbD being asymm, because they can't really split into unranked and competitive modes. People would just default to doing what they do now, which is sweating constantly, but they'd be able to pick 'unranked' in the hope of easier games. In symmetric games, that just means you're throwing, but not necessarily in DbD, especially if you're the only player on your team.
I could see bots in some games like unranked rocket league, or even something like Mario party, but whether DbD is a 'competitive asymmetric pvp game' or a 'casual party game' is hotly debated. And honestly, even if you consider it a party game, then just like any party game it only takes a few people who take it too seriously to completely ruin the fun of the game at all.
DBD is, in my eyes, most definitely not a casual "party game". It's a semi casual pvp game, the killer is NEVER part of the party and always the antagonist.
Party games are either coop only or free for all. Everything else is basic pvp and prone to over optimization by the player over time.
DBD is and always will be a pvp game with two teams antagonizing each, only that one team is a single person. That's also the reason why comms are such a problem in asymmetrical games, they can help the group side but the lone player will NEVER gain any advantage from them. But I digress once again.
Also to your point of apex, I don't think battle royals can be compared to other team based pvp games because it is a mix of team based and free for all gameplay, partly even with mixed time size queues like solo and duo combined despite the immense potential difference due to teamwork.

Well thats my point, just help out someone and we wouldn't be so toxic. I just finally got that Mettle of Man TC where you have to be Ash, activate the perk, use it and escape. It look 5 hours and only because a very cool streamer let he have it.
I, as an ex killer only player, would've done the same and help them with their challenge, especially since I mostly played for dailies or rift challenges as in trial goals
But this is another point of inequality in the game.
Survivor can't see killer names, outside of a dead member of an swf I think, so while killer can show such generosity, survivor CANT ever do that.
-
Uhh boy, one of the most survivor biased people on the forum strikes again.
Just the multiple attacks calling people killer mains alone are hilarious, seeing the irony.
And completely and intentionally disregarding and ignoring for example facts like this:
@nars said:
Ah yes a meta shakeup is needed because "Perkz R pickd 2 Mucch!!!!11!1!" guess we should do a survivor emta shakeup because windows and adrenaline are carrying everyone, right?
killers got their shakeup 2 months ago. or did you just happen to forget CoB and overcharge are dead perks? Along with a pain res nerf? You seem to have the idea "grr rar devs baby killers only nerfing survivors grr" which is stupid. Not only would it be stupid from a business standpoint but its just not true. Like bestie did you just happen to forget they straight up deleted the gen kick meta? And the ruin pop meta. And also added multiple basekit buffs to survivor to counter tunneling and soloQ?
The two previous gen slowdown metas completely crushed but go one with "hurrdurr, killer never get a meta shake up".

I'll be clear here, I don't think that disconnect penalties should be removed. I disagree with op.
But I fundamentally think bots are a bad thing for the game and should never go live.
You are completely, demonstrably wrong that there are no downsides to bots. The griefing potential alone is insane.
If bots are in any way better than average players, survivors swfs could and will just grief the solo q with them until they DC to get a bot teammate. I still haven't seen and can't test if the killer is trapped in a full bot game of all 4 survivors disconnect immediately, so that is a potential problem too.
And the abuse potential for killers is insane. Bot gets stuck or caught in an infinite ai loop means the game doesn't have to end normally. A survivor slugged for the 4k can be hard camped by the killer for the full 4 minutes just so a bot can be given hatch.
I 100% would be on board with forcing a disconnected player to rejoin the same lobby until the match they left has completed. It soft raises the DC penalty, you can't just say that disconnecting is a faster way to find a new game, and it doesn't defeat the core principle that the game is pvp.
There is no competitive pvp game that replaces disconnected players with bots that I'm aware of, it's absurd. And if you play DBD as a casual player as a 'party game' there's still no reason to have bots.
Fix literally any reason that people are disconnecting instead. How about looking into the problem that if you're the first player downed you simply don't get to play that match in the overwhelming majority of cases. Let's start there instead of this bullshit.
There is no competitive pvp game that replaces disconnected players with bots that I'm aware of, it's absurd. And if you play DBD as a casual player as a 'party game' there's still no reason to have bots.
Rocket league, at least in unranked. I can't remember how it is in ranked because I only played duo with my late best friend back then.

its not help me, but thanks.
Well, you invested a whole hell lot of money and time, gave it up once, probably because of fatigue, burnout or some other kind of frustration and now you plan to do it all again with this monster of a grind ahead of you and all you investment gone, which probably will lead you to waste even more money on it.
I personally don't see any good points here. But I also quit the game after roughly 300 hours accumulated over several years because I find it unbelievably repetitive and boring for my taste. Especially when playing solo all the time.
-
And for everyone saying "But what about condemn when getting hit/hooked":
As if competent survivor can't already cleanse condemn mid chase.
Just bring your tape to the closest TV when you hear her lullaby approaching.
The worst case is that she decides against a chase an tries to get ONE stack of condemn on you by teleporting away. Upon which the survivor simply grabs another tape, rinse and repeat.
Plus every tape grab/ditch blocks another part of her power for 50% longer than before.
-

if everyones carrying a tape at all times then they're taking condemn stacks when hit, and giving other survivors stacks if they get hooked
As if survivor didn't already manage to cleanse condemn mid chase nowadays.
Simply ditch the tape in the next TV when you hear her approach.
The worst that can happen is for her to abando chase to teleport somewhere and the survivor getting one stack.
Then get another tape, rinse and repeat.
Good survivor probably will never have more than one stack if the don't greed for the next gen.

Not tunneling isn't being nice. Unhooked survivors get exactly one chance to get away after being unhooked. If they intentionally bodyblock, or try to blind you, or whatever then they go back on the hook.
If you stumble across the recently unhooked survivor within the first 15 seconds of them being unhooked, slug them instead of hooking them. Has the same pressure effect, only now they don't feel like they're being tunneled out of the game.
TL;DR: Don't play nice, but don't play like you're desperate for a 1k either.
Oh please, you can play however and survivor on average still try to grind your gears or get onto your nerves.
Not stopping down on that level as killer takes a thick skin and endurance or indifference and makes playing for 12 hooks my definition of playing "nice".
Survivor don't hand the killer anything, no matter how you play, so I left the game before answering in kind.
-
Easy answer : You simply do not.
-
@Tsulan said:
I wouldn´t call the sadako changes a buff though. The condemn feature just gets completely handed over to the control of survivors. As long as they carry a tape, their condemnation wont increase. So everyone will carry a tape at all times, which will also result in less tvs to teleport to, since the cd also increases when survivors turn a tv off.
Maybe they want over time to put control of all killer powers into survivor hands /S
-
Just the fact that survivor will be able to passively carry tapes like EMPs, without any detriment except getting hit/hooked, to cleanse condemn on ANY TV plus a 50% increase in downtime on tv when survivor deactivate them is hilarious.

If there are multiple survivors alive endgame to prevent a trade, the killer probably messed up long before that. Focus less on the 1 EGC kill and more on the mistakes leading up to that. I promise killer is not this unsolveable riddle of a game mode.
Yeah, the mistake of being nice and not killing anyone before the 8th hook.

On one hand you insult people in this thread as fools for agreeing with OPs experience and say everything is fine and on the other you yourself were frustrated enough, at an earlier point, to make a thread on here about it.
Experiences in this game differ from region to region, platform to platform and time of day. Maybe don't call other people names when you weren't much different at some point.

Check Steam profiles looking for people on each other's friends list and for thousands of hours, if they're all private, bounce. Dodge people with clan tags or names that play off each other. Dodge multiple pink or purple hair cosmetics. Look for a mix of platforms, if they're all on your platform or all off platform, bounce. Dodge 2+ toolboxes, gens are fast enough as it is. Don't play against TTV or P100. If someone burns MacMillans probably give up immediately and just hit the exit gate repeatedly until the game's over, comp squad type teams always burn the bone
@LobbyDodgerLeonidas said:
Also a huge tip I forgot, if you load in and there are 4 survivors already in there with a mixture of ready, turbo leave. That's a lobby someone else dodged and you got backfilled. It's not a lobby made based on your MMR

I don't have any. I was a killer exclusive player and quit December '21.
I'm just still on these forums for entertainment at this point.
-
Anyone else finished their bingo of "killer X is camping/slugging/tunneling every game"?
It really is just a point of "killer/mechanic of the day" at this point.
We have probably seen all 30+ doing every unfun thing in every match at this point.
(And yes I know, the individual experience may differ with region, platform+crossplay on/off and time of day. But it is getting really tiresome to read the same generalization.)
-
Just like @nars said, it seems killer came up with something corresponding to tbagging:
A completely useless emote by spamming some keys that has no impact on the other side unless taking as an offense but totally intended to annoy the opposition.
I personally hated tbagging with passion, especially since it was only done when the survivor was absolutely save, a cowardly gesture to express a feeling of superiority.
And I also think this "humping" is stupid as hell and falls in the same category.

How would the game make the difference between swf with comms, swf without comms, casual/bad swfs (that by the devs' own stats do not have a significantly higher escape rate) and very good swfs ?
Sounds complicated to punish one thing without unbalancing it for two others...
(Not looking to be agressive, just wondering !)
With or without comms? -> make comms an in-game feature like in R6S, overwatch, lol, rocket league,.... etc and not using them a decision
Casual/bad/good/very good swf? -> create a working matchmaking, other games also do it taking premade Team sizes and/or skill into account
-
And killer main "extremists" think "survivor bad, killer good", it isn't exclusive to one of the extreme minded sides.
I was a killer exclusive player and can't speak from a survivor experience but even I know that both sides have good people and aholes.

I just hope non of these player types EVER complain about slugging for the 4k, wasting way more than those 4 minutes every goddamn time.

-
Sorry, I didn't read this long goodbye letter but from the comments I gather the game got stale for you.
And that isn't surprising at all.
Survivor DO THE SAME EVERY MATCH against one of 30+ characters that bring variety.
Meanwhile killer all play a little differently but ultimately AGAINST THE SAME EVERY MATCH.
It is inevitable that DBD becomes stale for lost and I am fascinated that so many people can stuck to this game for thousands and tens of thousands of hours without dying of boredom.
My personal longest time in one game is league of legends with something around a few thousand hours and that ONLY because i had friends to play it with.

Absolutely not. Making more SWFs doesn't solve the issue that those who do not use or do not want to use voice chat are disadvantaged.
If anything, making SWF more accessible and prevalent will just result in killer buffs, which would mean that survivors who do not want to use voice chat, will be even further disadvantaged.
Most people choose not to use voice comms intentionally. They don't want to be berated by 13 year olds trying out slurs for the first time, they don't want to have to listen to random players crappy music being blasted through their speakers, they don't want to be distracted by what other people are saying. Those who do use voice comms, choose to use voice comms with their friends, not with random players. Most survivors play solo, SWF accounts for somewhere around 10-15% of the playerbase. You'll be alienating 85% of survivors.
Your 2 minutes (if that) of thinking wasn't anywhere near critical enough.
4 people swf is 15%, swf in general is closer to 50%.

Two weeks ago I'd have said nah. But after seeing killer mains lately arguing that survivor perks should have more conditions attached, it does make me feel like the very popular perk that simply requires you to spawn into a game might also need more conditions.
But doesn't it already have that with only 9 (11? I don't know if it works with itself) seconds runtime and a secondary effect that needs another perk or addon to do anything at all?
-
Well, couple
- a more stressful, micromanaging gameplay than usual (killer is already the nonstop focus, multitasking role)
with
- a power that the opposing side can deactivate AT WILL (to a certain degree)
and I still don't know what you and other that have mentioned a lack of the new killer expect.
