DC penalty NEEDS to go

I've been thinking about it recently and I am worried that with the DC penalty remaining, salty teammates or spiteful teammates are likely to kill themselves on hook to ensure that their team doesn't get a bot which is going to increase the rate of people trying to kill themselves which is gonna bring us right back to sqaure one, rendering the bots useless.

If you take away the penalty, people can just go next, survivors can get bots, everyone's a winner.

Solo queue is in severe trouble without removing the penalty, I feel

  • Sure, if you enjoy to play 90% of your matches alongside three bots, hoping that the killer will stay in such a game. /S

  • It does need to go... up. The amount of survivors that DC randomly because of reasons like "oH yOU tOxIC sLUgGeR" when someone is lining up for a flashlight save would be increased by removing the penalty.

Increasing the penalty would make the game healthier, maybe starting at 15 then quadrupling each time could work?

I'm not disagreeing but at the same time this will just lead to more hook suicides which again brings us back to sqaure one

  • Zero good reasons to remove DC penalties. Every Blight/Nurse/Spirit would face bots only. Killer would ditch every single game they didn't get a good start in.

  • Oorrrr you remove the ability to hook suicide?

I'm suspecting it might happen when the anti camp measure comes around tbh. the fact that you can unhook yourself even when on second stage with it suggest that some parts of hooking stages is going to change and i can see not being able to unhook yourself by base to be included in that

  • Or, hear me out, what if we don't encourage everyone to leave the matches they queued up for left and right? What if instead of allowing for everyone to dc on a whim, we actually increase the penalties and have BHVR deal with hook suicides. They could remove it in less than a weak and leave Deliverance as the only possible way to self-unhook. Anyone who still tries to give up will be reported for unsportsmanlike conduct and get a penalty for that.

    Crazy, I know.

Hook suicides will have their day. Its really a silly mechanic in a multiplayer game. And they took hook grab?!?? I just dont understand.

Anyway, bigger DC penalty would be awesome. 5-10-15-30-60min. If another, 24hours.

To those who have connection issues, I truly feel that pain. But it would still be healthier for the game.

Agreed. DC penalties should go up.

Then they'll just afk under the hook, run to the killer, walk around doing nothing, troll, etc. You can't force someone to play a match they already mentally checked out of. Better for everyone to let them DC and replace them with a more useful bot teammate.

Once you start with this, you can also make an argument that players should get their BP in spite of the dc because: "They weren't good against that killer and did their team mates a favor." and how survivors shouldn't have to dc until they get a killer they like and so on.

It's a slippery slope and giving in to this is not going to end well.

Players care way too much about their MMR in this game. Killing yourself on hook decreases your MMR, so survivors still won't do this if they can help it.

But if there's no DC penalty, then survivors will DC the moment they're about to die every single time, let the bot take the fall, and avoid all negative MMR. Survivor MMR will skyrocket and undermine the entire system.

BHVR are never going to do this, there will always be some form of DC penalty, even if they change the severity of it. It simply cannot be possible to DC from any game any time you like.

  • I play solo queue and I'm not concerned about this scenario. If someone wants to ruin the game for the team they have, and always have had, a multitude of ways to do so. The folk who have let go on hook in the past will still let go in the future. That won't change. I'd rather keep the penalty.

Then they will get reported untill they get banned

If you "mentally check out" enough times for the DC penalty to matter you should stick to single player games.

It's not going to be better for everyone if the mayority of your matches are going to have 2 bots. They are not that much more usefull.

So how many skull merchant matches does it take for 90% of the survivor player base to be banned? ๐Ÿ˜„

  • What if the killer DC? Again these arguments I see are all ways from the pov of the survivor DCing. Do realize killers dc also. Killer will DC if they see a map offering, get blinded when picking up a survivor, lose two gens in the first chase and ect. Unlike survivors killers won't have bots to replace them that means a match will just end and survivors won't even get the chance to play the match out.

If you remove DC penalties all you doing is encouraging both survivors and killers to DC whenever the match doesn't go thier way. This will lead to killers playing more pve matches and survivors not being able to play at all. I will say right now as a killer main if I see a map offering I will DC the sec I load into the match. That if the DC penalties are removed.
