  • They actually made camping more effective gameplay by increasing the gen times. Devs on stream said to counter camping Bubba focus on gens - that was the one counter they would say to counter camping killers, don't try for save instead focus on gens. That being the only counter was already difficult enough, especially in solo where one or more survivors may check out the hook to see if a save is possible which takes time needed away from the gens. Now they've increased gen times a total of 50 seconds (10 seconds for each gen) making the counter even less effective.

Sure the 5 second endurance and haste may help a little but currently running BT doesn't always help v camping killers because they can grab you off unhook or if instadown could down you and then either slug you by hook (they are buffing knock out to help with this) or if in basement add you to one of those hooks.

  • Message I'm getting from this patch is if you play solo then you should go play killer, if you want to play survivor you need to get your friends to play for a swf. They won't need to bring solo survivor up to swf if they just kill solo survivor.

  • I really believe they're trying to kill solo so players will get their friends to play. Get your friends to play so more copies of the game, dlc, cosmetics, etc. are sold.

Why buff Knock Out that really only works v solo q? Only counter to camping Bubba is either really good coordination in swf for the save or focus on gens which has low success rate in solo because players will waste time checking to see if they can save, add in the increased gen times and it's even less likely you'll escape in solo. The nerf to self-care which is popular in solo because you can't rely on randoms to heal you.

  • They nerfed Self Care to make less use it so its not "meta" not because it actually should've been nerfed. They missed point of nerfs/buffs for alot of the perks.

  • It's just the ones they worked on for this mid-chapter. As Peanits said in another post - they only have so much time to work on an update, these are the perks they could fit into this update.

    @Peanits said:

As with every update, this is by no means a list of every perk that we think could use some changes. We only have a certain amount of time to work on each update. If you don't see it here, it doesn't mean that we think it's fine or that we won't ever touch it.

When a new chapter launches, we collect feedback throughout the PTB and live release. This doesn't always leave us with enough time to change a perk right away, since we need to submit our builds to the various platforms well in advance. It just so happens that our first opportunity to make the change we've been playing to Overzealous happens to be in the same update that overhauls a bunch of other perks.

We added it to the counter because it would be much stranger if we quietly left it out and didn't mention it only for it to get changed by surprise at the same time.

  • I said it on another post that it wouldn't take long before people use prestige levels as reason matchmaking isn't working. Everytime a new DLC comes out the complaints it's not working will increase day 1 of new dlc when one side is playing new character(s) and is maybe prestige 1 facing old character(s) that are prestige 10+. On day one of grade reset people were saying matchmaking wasn't working after they'd been playing for hours and made it up to silver/gold grade and would get someone that was ash - doesn't matter if day before they were all red, that current grade obviously was what mattered. 🙄

That end game screen they shared is just too cluttered with info, some of it repetitive. Just have the character pics where the grades used to be and give them pretty borders, those that P3 before the change get a extra pretty border no one else can get.

I'm tired of the nurse threads. I'm more saddened by the lack of flans being played. Why do people NOT want 530 % bonus to their match

Because every time I play a flan I get camped/slugged til bleed out with only 1000 BP but when I don't play a flan I escape with 25k+ BP. They're a jinx for me.

  • I was farming with survivors, we were all gathered around hook while I was hooking them and they were unhooking until 3 apparently decided they were done unhooking and let 1 die on second hook. I felt SO bad for the one that died.

  • It'll be interesting to see the changes. My only hope is that with Knock Out on the list that they are reworking it to not be a slugging perk, I really hope they don't buff slugging.

  • Dredge gets some pretty cool cosmetics, too bad can't see them for half the match because nightfall. It's like Wraith getting cool cosmetics but being invisible most the match, such a waste. 😂

  • Kazi says hi! 😁

  • Went to local farm to grab some stuff, they have mama cow and baby in fenced in area out front. Used to have cow, sheep, and alpaca but sometime last year they all went away - maybe moved to one of the other locations after years of being in the same location.

If there is any Killer in DBD that causes long-lasting paranoia, its definitely Evan. 😂

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything bad against Demo & how people hate facing him/her/them. (Idk what to call Demo 😭)

I don't even have to step in a trap/come across one in the match to still be paranoid in the next match 😂

  • I don't like or dislike Oni, I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to him.

I love Trapper, he's only killer that the next round I'm still watching out for traps even though I know it's not him. 😂

  • I hope Knock Out got a name change because it was reworked to not be a slugging perk anymore.

exactly! It's kind of fascinating to read tbh. But definitely more is being read into it than there actually is.

... But... Mauricelives?... Give him back 😭😭😭

  • I like that the end game will say what characters everyone played. The little survivor/killer icons at the end of the addons though just seem so unnecessary and out of place like they were thrown on, they should remove them - we know who is killer/survivor without those thanks to both the status icon and now the character name.

Wonder how quickly players will use prestige level as reason they had bad matchmaking because they have prestige 1 new character v prestige 10 Trapper. 😂

  • I hope they bring Maurice back at mid chapter, I miss him. 😔

  • I'm on ps4 and I freeze SO much as survivor when I play against a Nemesis. He just causes the worst performance issues.

  • Most likely a rage quit for variety of reasons - don't like killer/have had multiple matches against same killer, felt down was unfair for some reason like that particular map/killer causing performance issues, teammate sandbagged them... probably more reasons that I just can't think of off the top of my head. Rarely could just be perfect timing of actual technical issue - game froze, they lost power/internet, there's a bug in the game that causes crashes when certain things happen.

Thats true. But honestly, I think it would repeat itself if all you needed to do was find your invitation and then end the trail. You know how people always gravitate towards the path of least resistance, its just human nature. *shrug*

But that wasn't an issue in the last two events where all you needed to do was collect your sparkles and not DC as either killer or survivor. They decided this event to go back and use event from years ago as excuse even though the last two more recent events were fine.

  • I just hope Knock Out gets reworked to not encourage slugging.

@Hoodied Just an FYI, Peanits said this in a different thread I just read:

"To clarify really quick, you do not need to escape to get a mask, you just need to survive until an exit is available. If you die heroically to save a teammate at the end of the match, you'll still get it.

The main reason why this exists is due to our learnings from past events. When we didn't require people to stay in the match, people would do their event objective and purposefully die as soon as possible (looking at you, pustula plants). Not a huge deal at first, but after a day or two of people throwing matches the game becomes really unenjoyable. So while it is unfortunate that this condition makes it a little harder, it's necessary to not destroy gameplay for the entire event."

That event he used in that excuse is from years ago meanwhile in the last two events (winter and lunar new year) for both sides as long as you sparkled and didn't DC you got the reward and there wasn't any increase in hook suicides, atleast not in my matches and I played alot during those two events. If they're actually concerned about survivors just getting themselves killed to leave the match then require BOTH sides to get bronze emblems in all 4 categories - that requires atleast trying to play the game, is an equal requirement, doesn't punish survivors for dying mid game or killers getting 0k and doesn't encourage the vicious cycle of who can end the match the fastest because survivors won't need to get to end game.

  • @ihateboons said:

They need to have better requirements for collection. Killers jus grab it and do whatever. 4k or 0k. Survivors always have a stupid requirement. The current event's requirement can be denied by the killer simply by DCing when the last Gen is powered. Gross oversight. I typically dislike events because it makes people even more toxic than usual, just to be so.

I agree. They should either 1. Do what they did during the most recent winter and lunar new year events where it didn't matter what the outcome was, for both survivor and killer as long as you sparkled and didn't DC you got the reward or 2. Make it so both sides are required to get atleast a bronze emblem in each category - this is an equal requirement for both sides, does not punish survivors for dying early/mid match or killers getting 0k, and doesn't encourage unfun/sweaty matches.

  • Meanwhile in my survivor matches that's Devour Hope and the survivors that finished that gen decided to ignore the lit totem right next to them. 😂

  • Just trying to annoy you, ignore them.

  • Artist is 4500 shards so has to be oversight if Jonah is 9000 shards still.

All jokes aside, this has been a pretty rough event experience. And it's a shame, because I really liked the masquerade idea.

I'm not even going to bother to divulge what side I've been playing because it's irrelevant. It seems a lot of us are having a similar experience.

I don't know what to say except, it's the anniversary and . . . we're all in misery!

    Couldn't resist one final joke.

Haven't been having fun either. I miss the Lunar New Year event. Grabbing the envelopes was quick, everyone got the event rewards, plenty of BP from gens and hooks, gens giving all survivors BP even if they weren't on it to finish it and players played normal. The anniversary just feels miserable with players going extra sweaty, players that are just trying to make other side miserable, as survivor if killer camps you out first you're really not getting many BP so feels like a waste - the anniversary event just doesn't feel fun or rewarding at all.

I like how challenges force you to change your set up, like the using Iron Will mentioned above. Passive gain is fine too but variety is always fun.

I don't mind the ones that have you use a different perk but when you have to hide by the killer for a minute of the game or be the one to escape through the hatch with the hatch only showing when you're the last one I'm not a fan - unless your 4swf odds are you or your teammate is throwing the game to get that challenge done. Use Stake Out to get a bunch of great skill checks or Balanced Landing to escape a chase after falling from a great height or even escape a match/get kills using specific load out I think are good challenges to have you use perks you don't normally use.

  • They appear randomly and move after a bit if no one has collected the invitation. If you play a flan you get a audio notification when it moves and you will see its aura when you are near it.

  • I prefer the challenges that are ones you do in match anyway over the ones that have you throw matches or require too many variables to go your way if you're not in a 4swf to complete.

  • I haven't had fun so I'm just playing the bare minimum needed to unlock cosmetics and waiting for the event to end.

Earlier today, I hooked a Steve that I'd previously had some friendly interactions with - the only survivor I'd really done so with that match - right at the exit gate. The Feng in the gate left and the Yui tried to run. I downed Yui, brought her back to the hook, and dropped her until she wiggled off.

She ignored Steve and ran straight out again. There's just no reasoning with some people.

I had that happen as survivor v pig. Pig and I had good interactions, think pig just wanted her BBQ stack when she hooked me at end. She tried to signal to person in exit to come get me, they instead pointed/teabagged before running out. Pig came over doing sad killer. 😔

I sympathize with your sentiment, but I've been burned too many times by "scummy killers," and these other survivors have probably had the same experiences. Theres just not enough good faith going around because too many people take advantage of others' courtesy.

The two on death hook probably left because they didn't trust that you wouldn't take advantage of an opportunity for free sacrifices. In their eyes, it was the burden of the third survivor to unhook the fourth survivor. Its also possible they were a 4-man SWF and abandoned him for a laugh--my buddies and I will do that if we've had too many easy/chill games in one day.

    ---

Just last night I was playing a game with my friends, we were all pretty beligerant at this point and not taking the game too serious. My one friend gets 3-hooked before the rest of us even get hit once (I wouldn't really say he was tunneled, because his dumbass kept running straight at the killer like he's never played DBD before). I end up D/Cing on first hook, because my friend's incompetence paired with the Dredge's build (MYC, Starstruck, Darkness Revealed, SH: Floods of Rage w/ Iri Plank & Boat Key) quickly became a buzzkill. My other buddy took this as a sign to let the killer hook him so we could all requeue immediately, so he runs straight at the killer.

The killer downs my friend, and slugs him for 2.5 minutes as he scours the map looking for the last survivor. He picks my friend up on two seperate occasions and even lets him wiggle off at one point. I advise my buddy at this time to help the killer find the last survivor, so we can play the next game, because the killer is now holding our game hostage.

At this point, as someone who plays both roles fairly evenly, I personally believe the killer owes it to the slugged survivor to give them hatch for playing along and having to tolerate 4+ minutes of sheer boredom. Killers who take advantage of the slug timer to 4k (and need the entirety of the slug timer just to find the last survivor) are doing so at the detriment of the slugged survivor's gameplay experience. Its pretty scummy to do so without showing the compliant survivor any form of gratitude.

My friend can't see anything in Darkness, so he can't find the last survivor and instead tries to get the killer to down him and put him out of his misery. That doesn't work, so I advise my buddy to go stand on a hill and AFK (there are 5 gens left, so no reason to even bother getting them done 2v1). Eventually, the 4th survivor is downed and hooked. The killer comes right over to my friend, and as soon as he picks him up, the 4th survivor unhooks themself. Immediately my friend is dropped, and we have to wait another minute before the killer downs the 4th survivor. The killer eventually comes back to my friend and hooks him on the nearest hook.

The whole thing felt really disrespectful. My friend could have d/c'd when I did and we would have found a new game faster than had we waited out this killer's BS. There also then would have been the chance that our 4th teammate escaped thru the hatch or exit gates.

    ---

TL;DR Players don't treat each other with enough humanity to entertain someone who looks like they are farming

    @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/329016/please-unhook-your-teammates-when-farming-with-killer

I just had a game then and it was a good example of why survivors can't always trust "farming". Was against the Twins. I get unhooked by someone injured so they go down and get hooked. I'm looking from a distance and she she is just nodding. So I walk up and nod back and she nods again and is standing back from the hook. I take this is a sign that she is only hooking twice and doesn't want to kill. Well as soon as I do the unhook she wacks me and on death hook I go.

I get not trusting farming killers, it's why I don't hook anyone unless they ask. I've definitely been burned by fake farming killers.

The survivors in this case were the ones to signal it was ok to hook doing the wave over and point at hook. I'm just happy with hit/shock/kick gens so when survivors signal to be hooked it's a bonus for me. With the last survivor I even left the hook and went to other side of map in case they were worried I was going to be that killer that was faking farming for easy kills.

I think the one survivor opening the gate made the other survivors run looking for an invitation last minute before time ran out and they all thought one of the others would make the save. I think that's why I saw one survivor running from the direction of the dead survivor, they realized too late that no one was going for the save.

If it was a 3swf just leaving the random for a laugh that's just scummy, do that crap to eachother in the swf but don't screw over the random that did nothing wrong.

  • Escaping with white glyph gives you 25k BP.

Maybe I’m missing something here so please forgive me if that’s the case.

Afaik the only way a survivor gets denied the invitation is if the game ends before they find it or they are killed before the game ends.

If the killer can afk after finding theirs then that would mean the survivors won’t risk dying and losing theirs?

If the killer had to play even normally, this would increase the likelihood of survivors dying before the end and losing theirs?

It seems like asking a lot of killers to get their invitation, let the survivors get theirs which they have no way of knowing if they have or not, and keep track mentally of who has gone to second hook state to avoid killing them while also playing the game normally just not to actually finish anyone until the gens are done.

Maybe I’m not seeing something but it seems afking seems like the ‘nice’ thing to do to give the survivors chance to get theirs as well.

The problem I see is that there’s no way to know who needs to get the invitations and who already has all the masks; as once the killer has all theirs there is no way to know if the survivors have theirs and just want a normal match; and of course the problem with that is that it could potentially be used as a dishonest excuse to get killers to throw games later during the event even though they already have all the masks.

I didn't say killers should go afk/throw games for the survivors to get the reward. It shouldn't be the players responsibility to fix BHVR's poor decision for the unfair criteria.

The problem is that one side (killer) is guaranteed to finish out the game unless they DC, they are guaranteed to get their reward if they found/grabbed an invitation - the afk comments are just saying that's how little they have to do not that they should go afk to make it easier for survivors. The other side (survivor) can be taken out of the game mid way through and denied the reward, compared to killers survivors have been given a much more difficult criteria which isn't fair. The requirement on the survivors also causes the vicious cycle of sweaty games because they need to try harder to get to the end. This isn't on killers to fix or make more fair, it's on BHVR.

BHVR can fix this and make it fair by either 1. Doing what they did with the winter and lunar new year where if you did whatever was needed to collect sparkles (snowman/red envelope) you could still get your event reward no matter the outcome of the game - as survivor you could get camped out and you'd still get your reward. 2. Have both sides required to get atleast bronze in all categories - it's fair, doesn't punish players if the die early or get a 0k, and doesn't push players to play more sweaty.

  • Tenacity. All the time survivors crawl instead of recovering. Had they recovered first and then crawled could do a quick pick up but instead they haven't recovered at all and now you don't have time to pick them up before the killer comes back.

  • @DarKStaR350z said:

There’s so many conflicting points here.

People are complaining killers get masks easier and to make it harder, but also complaining they are sweating and trying hard which would only get worse if things were harder.

There’s complaints about survivors having it harder by having to escape, but also complaints about killers who might afk after getting their invitation which would allow survivors an easier way to get theirs.

Just doesn’t seem to be a way to please everyone.

The complaint about killer being able to AFK is that one side can be denied the reward even though they did their best while the only way the other side won't get the reward after finding the invitation is by DC. One side gets punished for dying before end game while the other doesn't have to worry about how the game goes. The end game requirement on survivors causes survivors to play more sweaty to make it to end game which then causes killers to play more sweaty - it's a vicious cycle. They didn't have the requirement for survivors during the winter and lunar new year events, everyone got their event reward if they sparkled and it was fair.

If they want to attach criteria to getting the reward they could make it fair for both sides by having them need to get atleast bronze in every emblem category. This requires both sides to play the game, doesn't punish survivors for dying midgame or killers getting 0k, and the requirement is the same for everyone.

  • They should change it so both sides have to get atleast bronze emblem in all 4 categories. That way both sides have equal criteria and if you die mid game as survivor or get 0k as killer you can still get the event reward.

But for the Bone Chill event, Survivors only needed to get the sparkles and I rarely have seen people killing themselves on hook...

Lunar New Year Event people grabbed the envelopes at start then played normal, atleast in my matches they did. The last two events, Bone Chill and Lunar New Year, the survivors weren't killing themselves after doing whatever was needed to sparkle. The "survivors will kill themselves" is just an excuse based on an event that was years ago.

  • Because during the Halloween event years ago people would kill themselves after getting what they needed even though this didn't seem to be a problem with the recent Winter or Lunar New Year events or the multiple tome challenges that don't require escaping/getting to end game to complete.

They do need to make it more fair because survivors needing to make it to end game makes it easy for killers to deny them getting the reward.

Future events they should make it so both sides have to get atleast bronze emblems in every category. Making both sides have to get atleast bronze emblems is fair, both sides have to play the game, harder to deny the other side from getting their reward, and since most players aren't tracking where they should be for emblems it prevents survivors from killing themselves but doesn't punish them for dying before end game.

  • @Slowpeach said:

Especially with the masquerade on, I won't kill but I'll generally do my best (which isn't that good anyway) to get 2 hooks on everyone. After that, boop me as much as you want.

My personal favourite as Pig though is putting reverse bear traps on survivors AFTER the generators are done so they are useless.

"I want to play a game... The game is... I have to give you a hat without it blowing up and killing you!". I've given it to 4 survivors once, 3 survivors once and 2 survivors four times :D.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3005451#Comment_3005451

I'm going to start doing this too.

One time I put traps on survivors after gens were done on the Game map figuring they could safely leave without taking them off. Instead of leaving they went to find the boxes to take them off. First survivor got their mask off quickly then opened the exit and left even though no one else had their trap off. One of the poor survivors took pretty much the entire EGC timer to get their trap off and died to EGC trying to run out the gate, they were soooo close too.

  • Survivors have to make it to the doors being open or hatch open to get their masks so they have to focus on getting gens done quickly and not dying before that happens. Killers start playing sweatier because of this which leads to survivors playing even more sweaty.... And it's just a vicious cycle.

Killer queues are longer because not only do killers generally get more BP than survivors so will get tons thanks to offerings but many switch over to killer just to get the masks because killers just have to not DC to get them.

  • If they're on xbox one or PS4 gamestop not too long ago still had physical copies of the version that has the Stranger Things chapter for the regular price that's like $30, think they had some copies were used that were cheaper.
