You straight up said that Deathslinger was a hitscan, and you're wrong. Maybe if I'm not understanding something, why don't you explain it to me instead of telling me to stop replying twice.
There are like 6 others posts for the full story and you are grabbing a piece from the middle if you had like any of the others ones you would see the word COMPARISON. Also stop trying to correct someone who already said this is only part of my posts and unless you bother reading the others don't bother trying to correct them.

Lol If I have challenge where I have to escape using a key (Only time I use a key), I'm gonna do what I got to do and I have done this, with flashlights too
Unfortunately this makes you scum of the earth.

Ok fine, Deathslinger is not hitscan he shoots a projectile. The reason he isn't a hitscan is because his shot actually takes time to reach the target. Deathslinger would be a hitscan if the shot instantly hit the survivor once the player clicked fire. Comparing it to Overwatch, Soldier 76 is a hitscan because when the player clicks fire, the bullets automatically do damage and do not have to travel through the air. Someone like Pharah is a projectile hero because she shoots an actual projectile that actually takes time to reach the target.
Still quoting something you don't know the rest of the point of saying that means politely stop trying to explain it I know it better because I was the one who said it.
-
Nah Bring it on if you have a flashlight but if you do this with a key you are scum.

Both are projectiles. Ones just faster
A hit scan is instant, a projectile has travel time
you are quoting something you don't know the rest of the explanation to, just dont.

Ah so you weren't speaking literally, just trying to make a logical comparison? Could've put that nicer a bit earlier, but I understand where you're coming from now. It's a pretty good comparison, hitbox = large, slow moving, hatchets. Hitscan = fast, linear, harpoon.
Yes for the love of god I was comparing the hatchet to the big hitbox and the harpoon to the small one because that is effectively equal to what they hit in game
-
As the devs said he is very borderline good and bad right now, the slightest nerf and he is literally the worst in the game, the slightest buff and he might dominate every single game with no counter play.
Its hard to make changes to him because he is very close to both sides right now without just giving him a new power or some significantly creative buffs and debuffs.

None of what you're saying needs the term "hitscan" involved at all. There is absolutely no element of hitscan or anything like it in play here.
Deathslinger projectile is a projectile. It moves and interacts with a hitbox upon collision. That's it.
There is no "affects it like a hitscan" because that's just not a thing. You can just leave that word out entirely.
I will now put this in simple words to make my point once more
Hatchet big and hit big red hitbox
Spear tiny and hit little hitboxes on body
-
@Bovinity said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1262463#Comment_1262463
But none of this has anything to with what hitscan means. You're really just describing a pinpoint projectile.
"Hitscan" precisely means that something is NOT a projectile in any way. It does not have a speed, does not travel in the adjoining space, and does not collide with other objects. It is literally placing your mouse over a target and it is "hit" the instant you press the button.
heres an example that will be the last chance I give you before I stop trying to make you understand
Hitscan and projectiles can share the same hitbox (shocker) a good example of how deathslingers weapon functions is a projectile that affects the smaller hitbox, not the splash hitbox (bigger hitbox) that huntress effects. Just because I used the phrase hitscan hitbox doesnt mean I think that the PROJECTILE THAT I LITERALLY STATED ABOVE MOVES AT 40m/s is a hitscan it just uses the same sized hitbox as if it was. Also not every word is wishy washy because that means it was exactly as I said because in the exact post you are showing it says AFFECTS THE HITBOXES AS IF IT WERE A HITSCAN as in its not a hitscan but affects the hitboxes as if it were a hitscan (double shocker)
-
Always wanted a hulking brute to just bash survivors with fisticuffs

Why would you make me picture something so horrible.
-
@Bovinity said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1262441#Comment_1262441
But that's not what hitscan means. It's still a projectile, it still traverses a distance and has an applicable (albeit very short) travel time.
Alright more details it is
In comparison a game like tf2 has 2 hitboxes the hitscan hitbox which only covers the model itself and the splash damage and melee hitbox which covers far outside the model as a single hitbox so it doesn't hit multiple times and doesn't feel to clunky.
The Deathslingers Spear affects the hitboxes as if it were a hitscan weapon only landing hits if it directly intersects with the model with a slight bit of give to the surrounding space.
The huntresses hatchets function as if it were splash damage affecting the bigger pill shaped melee hitboxes of survivors so it feels a lot more lenient and at times unfair to the survivors for how forgiving it can be.
They are both projectiles I was just making a comparison to the hitboxes they affect.
-
@Peanits said:
It bears repeating on a daily basis, but what you're referring to is not a problem with the hitbox, it's an issue with latency and hit authority. Contrary to popular belief, the hitboxes are not flailing around uncontrollably. The issue arises because what you see and what the killer sees are two different things. You might see yourself around the corner, but since that information takes time to get from your system to theirs, they see where you were a fraction of a second before, when you were still in the open.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1262384#Comment_1262384
They are both projectiles. Hitscan would mean you hit where you're pointing instantly, projectiles are an actual object with travel time (i.e. you have to lead your shots). The Deathslinger's spear is much faster and flies straighter than a hatchet, but they are both projectiles.
Actually they can both move at the same speed a max speed hatchet and the spear both move at 40m/s I was just making a closer comparison for what they react to for hitboxes in comparison to other games. Comparing deathslingers projectile to hitscan because it only affects the relative physical hitbox where the character actually is and the secondary pill hitbox for huntress because her projectiles affect the general area around the survivor as well.
-
@DelsKibara said:
Isn't Huntress' hatchets more of a hitscan rather than an actual hitbox?
A hitbox would be something like Deathslilnger's projectile. it needs to connect with the Survivor to land a hit. But Huntress' hitscan is much larger than the model. It's the same reason why people think Freddy has a longer lunge than he actually has.
Hitscan for bullets (deathslinger)
Hit box for projectile (huntress)

If you can play matches why do you care the penalty has seemingly done nothing but good so why question it. The more toxic members of the community who just wanted to dc and ruin every match are lowering and full matches are being played out more often rather than just becoming a 3v1 although it still happens
-
Dc penalties are healthy for this game. I have had 1 dc penalty for 5 minutes from a small outage but never again. Literally only stops people like you who want to dc every game with no penalty.

Sure, but most of the players aren't new. Rather, they are people who originally dropped the game and decided to give it another chance (excluding all of 2016, 2018 and early 2019).
Oh so when people realized that they were gonna be able to actually play in matches where there isn't a dc every 14 seconds they came back to the game what a coincidence.

They will most likely only change it when Huntress gets her Add On Overhaul. And nobody knows when this will happen.
I also dont know why BHVR makes easy things so hard, it would be possible to change Iridescent Head any time, the majority of players would actually approve that. It is the most OP Add On in the game.
Of course it would be easy to change it but would it be the right thing to do to just straight up change it or remove it without addressing the rest of her addons just drastically nerfing the potential of a killer. They don't make easy things hard of course they want to make changes to their game but they only have so much time and can only change so much at once for balance sake and so they don't work their developers to death. Why do you think there all holes in the walls by all of the newly changed loops its as if with the new mechanic of breakable walls they intended something to go there.

True and it shows that the player count is increasing rather than decreasing.
it also shows that people aren't leaving just because they don't like being banned for dcing too much.

I don't bring keys because they are the Survivor equivalent of moris. I also don't use keys for the same reason. Thank you for the suggestions though! They are genuinely good ideas with the current game mechanics but I personally don't like doing it. For as much as Killers complain about keys here I don't think it's a bad thing about Survivors not doing it. 🤣
Ive seen keys be actually used to open the hatch maybe a dozen odd times in normal gameplay and have killed so many people so easily with moris I don't know why people always compare the two.
-
around every other cosmetic is also just a recolor or slight retexture of a similar cosmetic. There are tons of originals but they usually come out in pairs of two for example bunny feng min. Also visual design and coding a video game are two different things. Of course making a 3d model will take less time that coding every map to have breakable walls especially if they already have the idea for the design or a baseline to go off of. None of the cosmetic dlc is forced also you buy it if you want it.
-
If you want to open the hatch faster bring a key. You don't want to bring a key but open it fast bring plunders. You don't want to bring plunders to get a key get then get lucky without it. If you don't want to do any of these then don't complain about it.

You can't be telling me you read that entire thing in under a minute.
He just summarized that you were complaining about something that isn't a problem. If you don't dc and get connection errors every other day or so the penalty should already be gone when you come back online but if you dc all the time then complain about getting big penaltys when your internet cuts out its your own fault you cheated people out of games by dcing so this is your just reward. Also $2000 worth of dlc of which you might only use $40 at most to play the game on one side or around $90 for both.

The fact that you are forced to use either a decreased fatigue or decreased cooldown addons says a lot. Also, I disagree with the feeling of choice because now you have to choose either to conserve your blinks for survivors or use them for map pressure.
I said "usually" That means I do things like omega blink and the spasmodic breath use the purple that lets you blink back with Spenser last breath to throw them off or just both perk addons. My preference is to have one cooldown but you don't need it 100% of the time. The nurse as a killer is already better than most killers in the game with no perks or addons compared to full loadouts on some other killers with just sheer skill alone if you gave her addons that were only just 20 straight upgrades then it wouldn't be as interesting or fun as some good some bad and some weird stuff.

You play low rank? Because i see a key about every 5 games and a survivor finding a key in a chest is also common. When they find a key, and i swear i have like 10 clips of this, they stop doing gens and eventually find hatch and all escape. This is R1 btw, where coordinating a hatch escape with your friends and even randoms is fairly easy when you all know the hatch spawn locations.
no with 1000 odd ours I don't play at high ranks I never learned any skill other than bubba face camp
-
Then take a break or try some survivor. Nothing is forcing you to play the game and feel burnt out. Try taking a break then coming back when tier 2 of the archives drop with a fresh mindset.
-
4 man bubba slug with 2 noise radius reduction addons and a shroud of seperation. They all tried to flashlight save 24/7 at the start so I took their flashlights but they kept trying to get them back until the whole team ended up on the ground with no unbreakables.
-
I think the nurses addons were well done. I usually stack one cooldown with one addon for what im feeling. If I see medkits it might go for the nurses calling addon or if I see a meme squad I might go for the 4.6m/s after a succesful blink attack. They give the feeling of choice and versatility but never losing out on too much because of a strong base power.
-
@Sluzzy said:
Imagine having torn bookmark and spawning on Hawkins. You're a m1 killer with no power. Whoever designed that add-on has never played nurse in their life.
If you want to use the addon but worry of bad maps then use a map offering?
-
Thank you for testing and reporting this
@kamisen said:
I reported it yesterday. You should go ahead and upvote it though so that the devs can see that more players have the issue: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/150452/huntress-exhaustion-add-ons-doesnt-work#latest
-
I have seen a nurse wipe teams in a minute flat with no perks or addons. A nurse can be somewhat useful on just pure skill alone. That said I usually use 1 slot for cooldown and have a free slot for whatever I feel because having 2 cooldown is wasteful and having none puts yourself at a disadvantage that you could otherwise have

You can also easily get 12 hooks per game with 1-2 gens left, and not play Freddy, Huntress, Nurse Billy etc etc.
Like I said it’s a cop out.
Give me an example for some builds and loadouts you use and a rank you play out for an actual dignified response because this needs more information.
-
I think he means the if its a 3v1 with 1 gen and someone opens the hatch the killer has to close it and start egc or wait 30 seconds while people can just run to the hatch to escape.

Just being able to see the ping would be enough as VPN-ers would dissapear literally.
Didn't say that wasn't a good idea just pointing out if there is something to complain about and its bannable guess what would happen more often.

A 3v1 is easy if you want to get on your high horse of 8 hooks every game before anyone dies go for it but leave everyone out of your quest for moral justice.

(Sorry for loud mic lol)
Because if it was bannable survivors would start complaining up a storm that people were vpning even when they aren't people do it to me now even though I don't use a vpn can't imagine what would happen after

Yet it rises to the top again which was my exact point of making the post was so that it was seen this only fulfills my original purpose of this discussion

Just use the addon or as you get more time you will start making better judgement calls if the enviroment will stop your blink or not

Ah but you replying to my reply replying to your reply only bumps it to the top of general discussions which means its not getting buried yet.

Happens but I have 1000 odd hours and it has happened, once. So I wouldn't worry about it happening again too soon

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but this is a problem you discovered, just because you posted it once on the forums does not mean it won't get buried underneath hundreds of other posts. If you're complaining about an issue that you discovered you should do your part for the community and submit it in the proper section the correct way so that it does get fixed.
Its the lorax thing I have the seed but im too lazy to plant the tree thats a whole can of worms I don't have time to open.
-
I mean the base game is $20 and nothing forces you to pay the money. People put thousands of hours into the game so that evens out to maybe a few cents per hour over long periods of time.Even if you reach 1000 hours without dropping any extra money that's 2 cents per hour. The devs do need money to do that think they do d e v e l o p a ga m e expessially when they dish out thousands of dollars to bring new licenced content. So $5 per character or $9 for 2 characters from the dlc or just straight up buying them on sale isn't the end of the world.
Also grinding is a part of the game its hey let me get some bp so I can get some new perks and addons to try new things and playstyles
-
Honestly as a killer I have seen keys probably be used about a dozen odd times. With 1000 odd hours in the game. They are strong but rarely have I seen them be actually used effectively
-
Probably just any moment where someone saves in front of me as bubba

It exists and I think its funny. Personally my favorite part is the chainsaw can actively have the animation where the blade is moving. Second favorite is if its still going when picking someone up it makes the noise as if it were bumping into objects
