If he hits you with ultra precise accurary, he kinda deserves the hit. But there is always something to do, and even if you know you will go down, you still could try to waste his time.
But also if you know you are going against the deathslinger, you just should always try to stay at high obstacles etc.
The thing is, killers have to mindgame almost every second to win. Survivors also have to mindgame but not even close as much as killer.
But if you are playing against a deathslinger or spirit, mindgaming as survivor gets EXTREMELY important. If you can mindgame them they will have a very hard time. You can try to lure them to wrong positions, bait a shot to a postion where you pretented to go and so. There are so many ways and mindgame is the strongest weapon in DbD but also the most difficult.
Yes he does deserve the hut but that ultra precise accuracy and a quickshot is a cod feature with a health bar not a 2 hit system .
Killers dont have to mindgame every second to win that's an exaggeration. Killer sonny have to mindgame at long wall loops where the vision is blocked. It's the same for survivor mindgames only happen at high wall loops.
You can attempt to "mindgame" them and if it works you get a couple of extra seconds buts that's all.

I dunno what to say.
I've had posts where killers dogpile me because I dare speak against them, and I've seen others where a killer has a genuine point where the survivors all repeat the cycle. So much "whataboutism" on these forums in general.
The main thkng that anyone on here can do is stick to your actual points and get people to try and actually debate them.
As for the whole debate for which side the forums face? Well, they don't and you have just been proven to be hypocritical with some of your points. In THIS post, you say they are killer sided a lot of the time, yet you did just edit a post to blatantly state survivor.
My edit was sarcasm if you didnt catch on

@Kebek said:
Maybe people disagree with your posts because your're focusing on the wrong aspect of survivor buffs. You're asking to "change the killers so they are more fair in chase" but that generally means add more annoying cooldowns / restrictions on killer powers making them boring and annoying to use. Ofc people who enjoy to use or vs these killers will hate it and disagree with you.
Posts that ask for buffing weak survivor perks or general solo survivor buffs that won't empower SWF are usually quite well accepted.
Maybe nerfing/changing killers isn't the way to go in terms of balancing DBD and strong killers (even when sometimes partially unfair) are fine and the real issue that cause frustration with survivors lies in different core problems of DBD then killlers and their powers.
That's fair I dont want killers to have dumb restrictions that limits a powers potential but when you have a game like dbd where the fun is the chase yet we make killers who make these aspects unfun.
I feel like if we made the other parts of the game like doing gens more fun then I wouldnt mind having strong chase killers. That's why with the stay game mechanic is gonna be a way to experiment with that adding another objective to keep us survivors busy.
But I do agree with what you say and thank you for actually being respectful in what you have to say.

You asked for help and didn't get what you wanted to hear. you have dug a hole so deep there is no going back now so let me ask you this. Why are you entitled to other people's time when they disagree with you?
I did ask for help you arent giving it you are telling me to look stuff up on YouTube. That's true yes I am not entitled to their time but why claim something without experience. I would get hate saying clown is op without playing him correct? Yet the inverse of that is acceptable.

I play both sides now but in total i played much more survivor.
Before i played both sides i always thought killers were op but they are not.
Hust because someones defends something on the killer side, doesnt mean they main these side. Same goes for the Survivor side.
But sorry to say it, but for me your ,,points" are stupid as hell.
You ask for counterplay, other players name you counterplay and you just trashtalk them that this ,,isnt counterplay".
Every killer have counterplay you guys just dont have enough skill to counter it.
I also dont have enough skill to counter certein things but that doesnt mean they dont have counters.
The counterplay always involves something that is up to the killer to be bad or guesses. "Get behind cover" so what I'd there is no cover or he shoots you with precise accuracy.

My point on slinger wanting to be tweaked to be made fair is nothing but survivor sided in its wants. It's a killer nerd of course killer mains will come running to disagree.

That's not an argument you dont tell someone to look something up. The only thing the community tells me is that these killers have "different counterplay other than looping you have to accurately guess what they will do." Ok cool let's play custom and show me. "No."
My point is its always something that has to so with guesses I offer to play some matches and be showed but it's always I'm not good at survivor or something of that.

Sure you can't ALWAYS pre-drop the pallet, it depends on the scenario you're in, and that's quite often the case. People that tend to greed pallets get shot, and people out in the open get shot. Do you agree on the other points?
I agree with what you just said here the scenario. Sometimes you can sometimes you cant but loops are short and alot he can pull you around without prison chain.
Or he walks around while you dont notice him trying to pre drop which has worked for me surprisingly just walking around the loop.

Pre-throwing pallets, guessing, juking, breaking LoS, and for DS specifically also positioning to make sure there's objects in the way
and like you said, the "general counterplay" - which counts btw
It counts but the general counterplay falls short to actually really helping the chase. Pre dropping only works on long loops if the slinger let's you make it to the pallet that is.

The games that I lose hardest are the ones where survivors are hiding like crazy especially on killers like PH who has a big TR.
Fun is not considered when balancing a game, nor should it be.
Fun should always be first before balancing s game otherwise what would the point be to play a game without having fun.
Why would you come back to a game you have no fun in?

@lucid4444 said:
Scott admits that there is counterplay to them, it's just boring.
Except I disagree the counterplay is always general counterplay I'm looking for specific counterplay which there is none. And even then holding w can be countered by leaving the survivor or a good slinger sniping you.
The only real general counterplay is genrush which is universally hated on. Killers shame survivors (not all) for doing gens while actively not pressuring them.

Just because it CAN be prepared a number of ways isn’t grounds for behaving like an authority on some of those preparations.
(I’m not saying you in particular pretend. This is just a broad sweeping argument in support of OP statement).
We should give advice on things we have first hand experience with. Anything else is just hearsay and speculation.
Summed up well but I've given up nobody understands this forum is populated by people who favor the killer side more. I'm not even gonna reply to most of these comments it would be way to many people to argue with.
It still bugs me these same people cant even outplay the killer themself and have the audacity to claim otherwise. Still regardless of that fact they still somehow think they can tell me all about counterplay.

First why do you make a million of the same post a day about the exact same complaint
Secondly he has counterplay it’s called putting things between you and him like cars, fences, walls, pallets, etc while your team does gens because as a 4.4 he doesn’t have much map pressure especially when survivors spam ormond
I'm not even trying to find out counterplay I'm just saying a double standard actually read it and just because you can make distance sometimes doesnt mean a good slinger wont aim and reel y ok y before you get that opportunity.

I played both sides and they all have a counter play. I play with Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, and Spirit. Pyramid Head and Deathslinger I have locked on point, and I might also know the opposing side might be thinking too at times. It's not the fact that they have no counterplay they're just trying to read your next move. If you're going to fast vault a window chances are they're going to use their power to get the upper hand if they time it right. You also can't forget that they're also keeping the idea of a possible fake out from you in mind so they can also be prepared for that possiblity.
Quick shots on Deathslinger are used when a survivor is still in their same formation (either running straight or at a pallet if a survivor is hiding behind it.)
Throw down pallets quickly before he pulls the trigger. It's a high noon standoff of quickshots and pallet drop in that scenario. Or if you're about to make it to a pallet assume that he'll pull a quick shot and move out of the way really quickly.
Pyramid Head is counter-able too since his power mostly revolves around thinking ahead of the player and predicting their next moves. If a Survivor is at a pallet they have to assume two things: 1. "They're either going to drop it so I should get my power ready." or 2: They might run through the pallet so I should probably fake them out with my power early then go for a basic attack.
Spirit I'm still figuring out a solid counterplay, but for most of the times when she is phase walking run to her husk, I do that most of the time with spirit (who knows maybe others might do it too at this point), or if there's the possiblity she's trying to fake you out at a pallet loop wait a bit, and keep running if she starts chasing you when you start running that's you're sign that she was trying to fake you out.
Sorry if this is too long, but I just wanted to share my side of the discussion. It's best to get a response from those who play both sides since they know what you mean and what you're going through in-game.
For slinger all he has to do is shoot you before you reach the pallet or zone you. If you continuously dodge before going to pallets you will make it obvious what you are going for. He will ads spam a bit and m1 you.
PH doesnt need to predict he needs to react. When you put that sword in the ground he has a psychological effect on players the fear of getting hit. Players will dodge for his nonexistent cooldown to come and m1 him. If they pre throw he uses his power which he can do before getting stunned if you time it right.
Spirit you are having trouble because she offers no legit counterplay other than guessing shes doing x and doing y to beat her.
-
@Shenanigan said:
I don't understand why he thinks that they need a nerf. Why nerf a killer because, "they're boring to go up against"
This obviously won't go for everyone, but when someone DC'd when I downed them as deathslinger and it just ended it up and either a 2 or 3 man and we just farmed they both said that they enjoy going against deathslinger considering the fact that each DS playing might have a different strategy up their sleeve or just a deathslinger running NOED which makes the match a bit more intense a bit more when it gets close to the end.
If a killer is boring to go up against than that's understandable and it's your opinion. But *nerfing* a killer because you find them boring that's not necessarily smart or fair. Again that could be his opinion too, but I don't necessarily agree with that.
During patch 2.0 slot of the filler pallets were shortened in the name of fun. You know that double truck loop with a pallet? It used to be bigger and have debris on it. Technically its subjective so some killers could of liked that.

Dude it's not just optimal SWF, any SWF in red ranks is going to have an advantage over the killer. I agree that survivors do need some basic QoL changes, but not buffs overall. You can't buff solo survivor without making SWF stronger.
And dont talk to be about bias, you are incredibly bias yourself. I play killer more than survivor yes, so I see a lot of the problems killers face at the higher ranks. Everyone agrees that killer is way more stressful and difficult at the higher levels than survivor, so whenever anyone wants to buff survivors further I take it as a joke.
I know solo queue sucks, but lets be real, almost every single match will have at least 2 SWF in it. I don't even remember the last time I had a full solo queue match in red ranks.
Ok sure every swf has an advantage due to map wide communication. Thst does not mean they can loop optimally. Not every swf is an optimal death squad which is what you are assuming and implying. You cant nerf self without nerfing solo. The best course of action is to by off solo to swf level then buff killers to compensate.
I am not bias myself I favor survivor over killer but I always play rank 1 killer to understand kille problems and see what they struggle with to make my views more objective rather than subjective. Survivors do need buffs that's the thing for one if a map like shelter woods is chosen their should be a guaranteed jungle gym I've had variations with zero that's not fair considering the bad pallets.
That's the reason you rarely see solo, solo sucks and playing with friends is better and more fun

No it's not odd at all really, survivors are the power role and need nerfs. Too many killers are weak at the higher level. You just don't like to hear it.
No optimal swf is the power role not survivors. There are alot of weak killers that need buffs. Survivors need buffs and qol you domt like to hear that.
You shouldn't comment if you are gonna have a bias towards killers. You dislike anything survivor related and are ok with the devs neglecting the survivors.
Dont say tru3 points out flaws with both sides it's only killers even though killers have many flaws.

Tru3 is a Fog Whisperer yet most survivors hate him because he doesnt spew the pro-survivor rhetoric that a lot of Fog Whisperers do. He plays both killer and survivor equally, and points out flaws on both sides.
However any Fog Whisperer killer main that thinks SWF isn't a big deal or offers a massive advantage, or that 2 escape 2 kill is fair is considered a "good" killer.
I've never heard tru3 speak negatively or point out any flaws on the killer side recently only survivor side quite odd dont you think?

@azame said:
Alot of people believe these these three killers have counterplay so I decided to make a thread going in depth the reasons why they lack counterplay. If I am wrong and you they do have counter play feel free to provide it.
Spirit:
Spirit lack of counterplay comes from the fact that her power has no tell in a chase leaving the survivors mostly in the dark. This lack of tell leaves survivors to guess. This guess is very much in the spirits favor. Add stridor into the mix and you have a broken build more on that later.
The reason the guess is in the spirits favor is because she can stand still observe your moves and act accordingly. If you walk/run away she phrases to your location and hits you, if you walk towards her she hits you. Against a good spirit there isnt much you are able to do and you are pretty much choosing which way you prefer to die. If you are injured it doesnt matter because like I said a good spirit is immediately phasing towards you and downing you.
Stridor spirit is a dirty build and has really.no counterplay. This is because it counters iron will which is usually the reply to "how do I counter spirit." When you are injured you are counting down the seconds until your death. There isnt really much to say on this because the majority of spirits run this.
Deathslinger:
There isnt much to cover mostly his zoning and quick shots.
I'm gonna start with his quick shots. The quick shot shoots in less than a second it shoots very quickly you can not react to that. Because you can not react to his shot you have to guess when hes gonna shoot and dodge accordingly. This is the problem let's say you are dodging preemptively you are losing speed and distance, then he can get up close and m1. You either guess right and he misses. Or you dont guess right and he walks up and m1s you due to your constant dodging.
His zoning is insanely strong and oppressive in chases. He can ads in and out. So let's say you are running from a deathslinger and he aims then you dodge. You start losing speed and distance then be does this a couple more times and now he had caught up and m1'd. His zoning strength comes from the fear of being shot and the fact you have to guess.
Pyramid Head:
Pyramid Head is short and sweet his zoning is far to powerful for how easy it is to do. Let's say you are running towards a vault and a PH is behind you, you vault he hits you with his range if you fake he hits you with his m1. The problem is there is zero delay after cancelling his punishment of the damn to m1. I have footage of this if you want proof. That's really it for PH
Final:
One more thing before I go the usual answer for all of these is to rush gens but then gen rush is complained about kinda confused here but that's all for now. Until next time.
My point all in one thread I wouldnt even mind if you outright @'d me. I have 2.5k - 3k hours ik what I'm talking about. Although its frustrating to repeat a point to people who disagree with you.

Don't you have any sense of reflection? Do you just hear what they say and take it as granted? Are you incapable of thinking for yourself?
Its okay to take their opinions into account and formulate your own. What is not okay is to take their opinion and put them into a pedestal, spam their videos and take everything they say in them as an axiom.
Yes, I know it is a player a 100 thousand hours in the game, yes, I know it is a player that knows how to play very optimally, yes, I know it is a player that can 4k as clown 100 games in a row, does that make everything he says about the game true? No. Learn to think critically.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
If I find a youtuber that agrees and has similar views does not mean I'm following them blindly.

And if I just put random paragraphs then ill get more flak. Humans are generally judgemental creatures so yeah no matter what I do its just bad writing. Either ways this isn't a essay dont bother responding some people actually care about this games issues
I have to agree it's so hard to read it just make random paragraphs as long as its atleast paragraphs it's easier to digest.
Doesnt matter what english language labels as "correct" just add paragraphs.

Guess we should nerf them to make them more fun for survivors
The devs had no problems shortening loops to be more fun for killer.

1) I thought you said you weren't subbed to Scott's YT on Wolf's discord (unless you aren't the person I think you are).
2) Scott's opinions are just that. Opinions. IDK why people throw them around like they are facts.
Watching a video does not mean to be subbed.

because caleb and rin are not MEANT to be engaged in chases.
That's part of the design. Just like you have to pay MORE attention to your surroundings with Trapper or Hag or plague, just like you have to keep a distance with Clown, etc, caleb and rin are killers who by design are meant to be avoided.
Stop trying to have every match play into your 1v1 chase fetish.
Funny but 1v1 is the most fun and interactive thing in the game, the chase is what they balanced the game on. So are you gonna tell me regardless of what they built the game on they designed these killers? It's just poor design hiding is boring for both sides.
Stop insulting me for wanting to do the interactive thing in the game.

Before I'll tell you why this all mess is one big hypocrisy let me state a few things:
1) I'm legacy owner myself. I'm not craving for making legacy not exclusive because I want it (though I'm lacking some pieces so that's partly the case). I'm asking for making legacy available because I believe it is not fair to people who didn't get to farm it and it is also unfair to some other ex-exclusive owners in light in BHVR's statements against exclusivity.
2) I'm not saying Legacy should be just given to everybody. It could and should take some work to do. Maybe farm devotion 10, maybe farm equally difficult bloodweb like in 2016 or farm 6 prestiges etc. The point is to make legacy AVAILABLE to everyone. So everyone could have a chance to EARN it and not have to buy accounts with it, hack it or simply look at others who have it and be jealous.
3) It doesn't matter whether legacy is good type of skins or not. People have different tastes and many of them would like to earn such skins because they liked them, no matter how bad they are.
Now, I'll be taking my information from these posts, which I consider BHVR's official position on that topic: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/103996/developer-update-november-2019#latest
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/164287/news-unlocking-event-cosmetics
If there are more posts, clips etc where they add more to their position about exclusivity, please share them here so I have more to add to my point. Let's begin.
My main thesis is
"Keeping legacy entirely exclusive, while distributing Event cosmetics and PAX2016 skins is a huge hypocrisy".
In November 2019 BHVR has decided, that they would like to move away from exclusivity and they wanted PC and console players be equal in that situation. Another reason were scammers, who sold exclusive skins for insane money and just took money without giving the code. For that reason they distributed different exclusive skins to people on all platforms available at the moment, with an exception of event skins (distributed on june 23) and legacy skins, which developers decided not to distribute for the following reasons (which they at least have stated in their blog):
- The difference between the Legacy items and the event items is that Legacy was earned before a major rework of the Bloodweb system
- To award Legacy to the rest of the community would severely alienate and undermine that part of the community that has been with us since 2016.
On first and even on second glance these reasons sound pretty fair. Sadly, they are not and here's why:
Difference between event skins and legacy skins
So, the first reason BHVR decided that legacy is not something worth distribution/making available, while event skins are is that Legacy skins were earned before a bloodweb rework and required a lot of work to earn.
However, BHVR seems to forget, that people didn't "just get" event skins for nothing. They also put a lot of work in earning these skins, which wasn't something easy aswell. Game in 2017, 2018 also had a lot of gamebreaking bugs or things that made it very hard to play. Yeah, it was "different" kind of effort, yet there was a lot of effort needed nonetheless.
Basically, BHVR implies that the effort people put into earning event skins is not enough to be taken into consideration, while the effort people put into earning legacy skins was enough to make these people "better" than other? BHVR undervalues effort people put into earning event skins and overvalues effort people put into earning legacy.
That's hypocrisy.
AWARDING X WOULD ALIENATE AND UNDERMINE THAT PART OF THE COMMUNITY
BHVR also says they wouldn't like to "alienate and undermine" certain parts of community. Isn't what they did with exclusive skins owners and event skins owners later? What makes these parts of the community worse than the legacy owners part? Because they joined later?
They are also using word "alienate", which I don't really understand here. Wouldn't "alienate" mean what it means if they highlighted that certain part of the community, making it worse/better than others? In case of legacy, this part of the community is already alienated by having what others don't. That part of the community is already alienated by BHVR's special treatment, which makes them different from other people. Making that part of the community equal to others, like they did with some other parts of the community wouldn't "alienate" anyone.
If this is not hypocrisy, I don't know what is then.
we hope to put an end to shady resellers and scams
If you didn't know, shady resellers and scammers don't sell only exclusive pax skins. They also sold legacy: accounts with legacy, accounts with hacked legacy and simply hacked legacy (give us login&pass to your acc, anon, and some money, we promise we give you legacy). Why not put an end to scammers selling exclusives AT ALL and not just reduce the spectre of stuff they are trying to use to scam you?
Please don't say these are rare. You can google or make a search on sites like ebay and you will easily find that filth there.
giving event skins to everyone gives them to those who lost them.
BHVR says:
To put it simply: there is no way for us to verify who earned these items legitimately, as they weren't stored in the same way we currently store items. Since then, we have reworked our storage system and item tracking and made sure that if a similar issue occurs, we should be able to easily restore items.
What should I add here? Oh yeah, people who lost their legacy because of a bug. They have put that "extremely valuable" effort and BHVR seems to be caring about such people very much, as BHVR refuses to undervalue their efforts in getting legacy. Why hasn't BHVR done anything about these people yet? There are a lot of ways to restore legacy, proving it with a steam achievement or a screenshot. Or are these people WORSE than those who got lucky and haven't lost their progress because of the bug? Are these people worse than those who lost their event skins? Why BHVR can't apply same rules to everyone? Why does BHVR feel the need to constantly undermine certain parts of the community, while overvaluing others? Or they just can't not to do that?? This is just another display of BHVR's hypocrisy on that topic.
people might feel disappointed, but we believe it's for the best.
While we do understand that some players may feel disappointed by having us award these items to people who may not have taken part in these events, we believe that we do this in the community's best interests.
Once again. If it's about event skins, then "it is for the community's best interests", but when it's about legacy, then "it's different".
One. Big. Hypocrisy.
please be consistent, bhvr.
If you refuse to go that path to its very end you should turn back. Return exclusivity to the skins you distributed (at least to those skins, that can be tracked by steam inventory), apologise to the people you robbed of skins and move on and never return to that. However, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't turn back.
If you still will to stay with the opinion you've shown in the posts I've linked above, don't be hypocrites. Apply the same rules to legacy, make it AVAILABLE to everyone. Don't try to sit on two chairs. Be fair to everyone. Make all players have same opportunities to get skins they would like to.
IN CONCLUSION
I would add more, if I find more "official" posts. I would personally like to find the post where one of devs says "you got to use these skins earlier", was it Peanits, right? Any help would be appreciated.
And to you, community managers and mods, who, I'm pretty sure, are going to read that post, please don't answer if you're going to answer with a generic "Legacy is diFfErEnT". Just don't. Thanks.
P.S.
I'm pretty sure I've crossed the line with that post, though I don't care much. I respect BHVR for what they have achieved with DbD so far, yet I can't remain positive about all their decisions. I apologise for my rude statements, yet I can't keep them to myself, because I believe that's undeniable truth. If I broke some rules with that posts and I get banned, then so be it, as it is all about sending a message, which I hope reaches the right person.
Love how the people who want legacy to stay exclusive dont have it 😂😂

I literally just grabbed the three most recent games he had against Spirit. Feel free to check out his others.
And he does mindgame Spirits, by the way. Even in one of the videos I posted, for instance, he goes one way on a particular loop in Yakaoma the first time the Spirit is after him, then intentionally goes a different way at the same point since he thinks the Spirit is now conditioned to go the same way as the first time around. He does similar things with pallets and windows. Plus he's listening to the heartbeat for signs of when he needs to run. And I don't know off-hand that he does it in the links I posted, but I've also seen him for instance intentionally use the fire barrels in outdoor loops to hide the noise he makes.
My point being, of course, it's not just "random". He wins more often than not because he has a good sense of what they're doing and why and can act accordingly.
Alright watch this then tell me what you think all tru3 did was maybe double back a few times and hope she doesnt catch on.

I say 30 seconds because if a killer is really good those are the targeted chase times..gens crank too fast for much more..and if course hes a chaser , even clown can chase semi well..clown isnt bad due to his chase as much as hes very weak to pallets and has no map pressure..very much like slinger..difference is slinger can get you from distance and can sneak up on you..like I said..slinger only gets by because if his shot speed..I'd bet anything he'd be worse than clown without it
I understand that my point is that he just needs to have some counterplay anything that dont make his chases one sided.

Bro you don't get both all the time. It's PVP that was my point. You can't have your cake and eat it too. ######### hell, even Mario Party ends up not being fun for someone at the end of the day. It's just a fact of life.
That's true but this isnt relevant to the whole point the killer isnt fun because the devs designed him poorly.
