  • Well? What's the next thing we're getting removed/nerfed? Is it Nurse? Lightborn? Pig? Ruin? Undying again? Blight? It's looking like Blight.

Goona need some context there, chief. For example, what's already been removed that there's a "next" target?

Well, allow me to list some of the victories we survivors have claimed:

Nerfed Pyramid Head several times in a row! A smashing win, even if we do still see him sometimes.

We got a killer-sided map turned into pallet heaven! Praise be to the Gideon's Meat & Pallet Plant.

Nerfed moris to the point of uselessness, effectively removing them.

Removed Iri Head + Infantry Belt Huntress from the game completely!

Nerfed Wraith to the point of being back to useless.

Nerfed Deathslinger to the point of being useless.

Nerfed Spirit...kinda? She's still OP but we got BHVR to remove the stand-still thing.

We're getting Redhead Clown nerfed in a big way! Let's just hope they learned their lesson with Huntress and make it so it doesn't work with Sticky Soda Bottle and Cheap Gin Bottle.

And, of course, we're sticking it to those facecamping Leatherface players by taking away their masks.

All of this wouldn't be possible without the wonderful collaboration and coordination of me and dozens of other survivor mains writing complaint threads on a daily basis. We've done a pretty good job so far, but we can go further and take away Lightborn and the BP bonus on BBQ!

Also, press F to pay respects to the killers' one victory over us, the removal of multi-person hatch escapes. Which we still won because it happened over a year after they lost moris lmao.

Edit: How could I have forgotten we got Freddy nerfed?! I see him so little now I forgot he was still in the game. Also, we got PGTW nerfed some! And, of course, the nerf to Ruin many years ago, but that's still common and I'm sure is on our target roadmap. And made Stridor useless!

Before the changes I enjoyed playing as Spirit but I vilified seeing her as survivor; just seeing her Trolls hairstyle ticked me off. With the rework, I actually enjoy facing Spirit!

Idk why people aren't playing her, she is good. But one thing I dont grasp is ... what is the "point" of Spirit?

Before, her schtick was "lol you cant tell what I'm doing!" Hence the infamous "coinflip" counterplay...

But now....I actually dont know what her dealio is.

Is it to just run survivors over with sheer numbers/stats in the Spiritmobile? Because I can't seem to come up with many inspirational plays with her power. I just bulldoze my way through with addons. I'm actually scared to play her with no addons because itll probably reveal how boosted I am.

I'm not complaining, I think shes fun but she seems like shes just Wraiths cooler cousin so ai figured I'd come here and ask for some enlightenment. Idk if I'm just a simpleton or if others just kinda play her the same way I do.

Yep, it's the spiritmobile with add-ons and just beating them with numbers now. She lost a lot of tricks and plays and turned into a very ordinary M1 killer with a catch-up power.

This is what I wonder. There's literally no scenario where a single player can use Dead Hard multiple times in under 40 seconds without a hook in betwern, but I see it happen. Or when a player's health state cycles 10 times in 20 seconds. Is the server not verifying anything? Is the entire game client sided?

Considering the game originally was indeed almost completely client-sided (the killer functioned as the host/server in matches but for the sake of distributing the processing, almost everything was client-sided), it shouldn't come as any surprise. After all, why would BHVR spend any amount of time more than absolutely necessary shifting how and where things are calculated when they implemented dedicated servers?

  • I don't recall BHVR even acknowledging cheaters as existing. Last I knew, the only thing they said they were looking into was the DDoS attacks.

  • Billy, Deathslinger, Twins.

I'm noticing a trend with this thread, the fact that Twins and Deathslinger are dead is unanimous thus far.

Edit: At least it was while I was replying.

  • Yeah. It's the smart thing to do tbh just to ensure you get back all the auric cells without risking RL interrupting your rift grind.

  • Grades don't mean jack except how much you've played since the last grade reset on the 13th. Now it's a full reset though, down to Ash 4, so if someone's playing enough to hit Iridescent 1 in a month chances are they're at least competent.

  • You're most likely encountering stretched res players, who can see over walls. The telltale sign is if it looks like the character model is staring at the ground rather than straight.

As far as a build goes, I have a somewhat odd build with him I liked when I mained him. Whispers, PGTW, BBQ, and STBFL. I made it work without any add-ons, but in a perfect world you run double recharge every game.

Whispers, PGTW, BBQ are all pretty self-explanatory as to why they're there. Feel free to replace PGTW with SH:PR or Jolt or whatever other gen regression you want, and Whispers/BBQ with your own preferred information perks. Reliable information that starts working very early is vital on Ghostface.

I know you're questioning STBFL on a killer that HAS to M1. But you can mitigate the token loss on Obsession hits by making sure you hit them with Exposed when you do end up going after them, or if they make a nasty mistake you can grab them at a vault for no stack loss. I found it invaluable in cutting down chase times when I had to go for non-Exposed players, since Ghostface is absolutely pathetic when it comes to actual chases.

  • It's because BHVR, in their "wisdom", decided to spend their resources coding some bizarre predictive filter that tries to interpret intent and then censors accordingly. But it's a barely functional, inefficient and ineffective mess.

A simple wordfilter would've taken zero effort and been more effective. In itself it's a baffling decision on BHVR's part, since they have quite the penchant for putting little to no effort into coding.

  • Bubba. Chainsaw goes brrrrrrrrr.

  • It doesn't work. 60 hours of playing normally (ie. not throwing) means you've probably already hit the soft cap for MMR, since it only takes ~20 escapes/3ks or 4ks to hit it from baseline.

  • It has no effect except to help the obsession early, has no meaningful effect in the midgame due to how few people are affected at once in most situations and its poor buildup, and has no meaningful effect at the end because you've either already lost or already won by the time it has any real stacks.

How is it grindier than DBD? Even on higher difficulties you can finish a playthrough in 80-100 hours.

It's boring. It takes forever to upgrade your stuff to the point where it feels like progress can be made, and a single run of bad luck can set you back a solid 5 hours.

At least DBD never takes AWAY your BP and perks unless you prestige.

  • Please, the only thing horrifying about Darkest Dungeon is that it SOMEHOW manages to be even grindier than DBD.

  • Perk. Any Means Necessary. It's not commonly run.

  • It's going to be a massive problem. A full week of infinite, free-to-make accounts? The cheaters who don't want to spend money on burner accounts will have a grand time with this.

  • I die on hook playing survivor when it goes even slightly south because I want to get through tomes faster and get back to playing killer.

I'll also do it for no reason at all when I'm queued with a 3-man SWF just to make them miserable.

  • Bubba's fine. He's still a low mobility killer at the end of the day, just play safer against him than you normally would and know where the windows are in the event he makes a big deadzone because he ate all the pallets.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

Has this been the first blood hunt since we got MMR? I don't remember any bloodhunt being as sweaty as this one TBH

This is the first Bloodhunt we've gotten since 2019 that wasn't tied to Anniversary.

  • He was already very middling to mediocre before his nerfs. Now he's just dead.

  • I've definitely run into it. I believe it's tied to the tantrum meter not correctly resetting after fully activating the chainsaw, as it seems to happen much more often when I instantly break a few pallets in a row.

  • Dying Light is the single worst slowdown perk in the game. It boils down to the fact that it has no effect at the start of the match, very little effect in the middle thanks to its pathetically slow buildup, and no meaningful effect at the end even if there is still a live Obsession, who at every single point is helped rather than hindered by this perk.

Consider the following, a common situation if the game is going decently for the killer:

You have one survivor on a hook.

You're chasing a non-Obsession, probably because you're trying to intercept the rescue or pushed them off a generator or whatever.

The Obsession is unaffected by the slowdown effect of Dying Light. There are only three valid targets in the match for Dying Light's slowdown.

How many people are being slowed down by Dying Light in this scenario? Either one or zero, depending on if someone has died yet or if both non-Obsessions came for the rescue. If you're ever in a situation where all 3 non-Obsessions are alive and not being occupied by chases/hooks, you've got problems that Dying Light is not going to fix. Dying Light is doing either very little or nothing at all except helping the Obsession for most of the match.

  • I'll accept it only if they're forced into first-person, are Nemesis-sized, and stomp as loudly as Demogorgon.

In actuality, it's whatever. Could result in some interesting perks.

  • I was in the process of learning her before her changes and tried her some after them.

She wasn't exactly hard to play before but being able to hide your position allowed you to do things like get gen grabs by phasing at the edge of her TR, faking phase for certain actions (not just at pallets), or give one survivor the impression they were being chased when you actually peeled off to do something else.

Now she's extremely dull to play. You make distance with her power, smack, repeat. There's no tricks, no games to play except by making some pallets a little less safe provided you guess correctly. She's just a brute force, add-on hungry chaser now with a pretty low skill-cap, especially if you go MDR+DCB that'll just inform you when it's time to let go of M2. You hold W, survivors hold W and prethrow every pallet, when your power's up you hold W+M2. Boring.

  • Nothing. Chalk it up to DBD being a broken, buggy mess.

Edit: I skimmed like an idiot. Iron Will doesn't work when you're downed.

  • That's correct. Keys are now only used to reopen the hatch after a killer kicks it shut, and for whatever add-ons you put on it. 2.5 second opening animation. Multi-person hatch escapes are now impossible.

  • Getting a down with Bubba and then slaughtering swarmers trying to set up for a flashlight save. Nothing is more satisfying than turning bullies into the bullied.

  • They may have made a statement, but it smells of typical, empty corporate placation. Actions speak a hell of a lot louder than words, and they sure aren't showing us a whole lot of actions.

  • It changed with the current patch that added Mikaela and the boons. That is to say, shortly before Halloween.

As Nathan13 said, the hatch now only spawns when there's only one survivor remaining. This means keys are only useful for reopening the hatch after a killer's kicked it shut. No more 3-man escapes after 3-genning yourselves.

  • @pixicls said:

Ok, so would a good build be: decisive strike, boon: circle of healing, borrowed time and lithe? thanks for all the help you guys 😄

That's solid. Personally I prefer Dead Hard or Sprint Burst over Lithe, but Lithe is perfectly fine as long as you identify a place to vault to trigger it.

  • Let's see if we can get this thread to be as thicc yet ignored as the performance one.

No, the replies from powerless forum moderators do not count, as they can't do anything to fix the problems.

  • It does indeed exist. Look up Choy's youtube video on the subject of DBD cheating.

  • Play Bubba, chainsaw through the BT and the rescuer.

  • He's not in a good place right now. He ranks among the lowest of the low currently. Even when he was "a tad bit overpowered" according to BHVR, anyone who actually played the game knew he was mediocre at best.

I only bought him for BBQ, then I started playing him and I was obsessed.

For sure, nowadays he's a lot of fun. I main him currently myself and I love it, he's so effective now that it's unbelievable just how awful he used to be. But if you look up old tierlists, the fact is you'll see Bubba was consistently placed around the very bottom, usually alongside pre-rework Wraith and pre-rework Clown.

Buddy, I think Wraith was WAY worse than Leatherface back then.

"You had to be sniffing the survivor's hair when you started revving to actually hit them unless you ran PWYF, and even then that extended Bubba's usable range only maybe 2 meters at 3 stacks"

Now this...this was the worse about him. I never understood what was the point of having a movement speed penalty while charging up his chainsaw, considering that it didn't give you any type of mobility.

I'd actually argue OG Wraith was still better. Even if double Windstorm was mandatory to stand a chance, he at least HAD double Windstorm. Bubba had nothing but a bunch of bugged, useless add-ons.

what was his old self like? I love him the way he is now.

His old self was broken in the worst way. He was the actual worst killer in the game, because his add-ons didn't work or were detrimental, and his chainsaw sweep acceleration was bugged for years. You had to be sniffing the survivor's hair when you started revving to actually hit them unless you ran PWYF, and even then that extended Bubba's usable range only maybe 2 meters at 3 stacks. He was effectively nothing but an M1 because he just didn't work at all.

The ONLY reason people bought him was for BBQ, and for facecamping memes. He was that bad.

  • They can't remove it at this point. They'd have to rework a few perks and delete the luck offerings, and we all know how rework-averse BHVR is and how much they love the bloodweb bloat. Something something bloodpoint economy.

You'd need a way to get around EAC as well since Cheat Engine is blacklisted by it

Fair enough. I haven't exactly researched whatever the current cheating methods are. Just like any other old person getting games for others. A perfectly accurate Christmas present.

  • I'd get them a link to cheatengine and a $3 alt account. Not like BHVR's doing anything about it right now.

  • Killer:

New Scourge Hook perk that explodes the most-worked gen for 15% and makes survivors on it scream.

New Hex perk that reveals the auras of broken totems and rebuild them for new, stacking effects.

A perk that gives you 30 seconds of gen blocking upon hooking the fourth survivor.

    Survivor:

Boon: Unbreakable. Literally just unlimited Unbreakable but as a boon.

A perk that fixes generator co-op partner missing a skillcheck. Consumes tokens that are gained by hitting Great skillchecks.

A new Exhaustion perk that makes you go 150% speed for 4 seconds instead of 2 seconds on being injured.

  • Some of this I can agree with, but some I cannot.

Pinhead's power is almost Pig levels of situational where it's helpful to actually use. I wouldn't put him above a B+ in your list, and even that is me being generous.

Doc should probably be moved down by one or two. He's an M1 killer that gets info once in a while and might possibly maybe but probably not be in a position to deny an action with a shock. I'm not impressed.

Oni should move down by one. Circle of Healing hurts him a lot in that survivors don't leave as many orbs around the map for you to recharge with. Having access to an instant down with mobility for a significant portion of the match does keep him relevant though. Unbreakable Boon is going to hurt him a lot however.

Myers I want to say should be at the absolute bottom, but I assume he's in B+ in your list by virtue of his mori add-ons.

Twins is going to get demolished by Unbreakable boon and already has severe performance problems outside of a very specific playstyle. A lot lower.

Leatherface I'd move up to A+. He doesn't have mobility but he performs incredibly well against the current meta and is barely hurt by the current boons. I could actually see an aggressive Leatherface benefiting heavily from the new Scourge Hook to the point of maybe replacing PGTW on my build for him if BHVR doesn't screw up the spawns. He already doesn't have the mobility to slug the whole team unless they make several severe errors in a row, so Unbreakable boon won't matter too much.

Freddy I'd put in B. He's just an M1 that can sometimes teleport to a gen and sometimes get the drop on sleeping survivors. Big whoop. His snares don't really help much anymore.

Deathslinger lower. A lot lower. Man was gutted like a fish and then discarded when it was discovered that fish was full of flukes. I'd put him down where Trapper is.

Nemesis down one. He's good against pallets but he's still a killer that needs to tier up like Myers very quickly out of T1 and needs three hits to down an uninfected survivor. Zombies cannot be counted on to do anything so they can't be considered a real factor.

Ghostface up one. Good power management lets him outplay Circle of Healing consistently and he's not going to slug a whole lot. He still sucks, but he's not Pig levels of bad.

  • Let's see if we can keep the streak of C-tier killers coming, along with a plethora of new, game- and potentially console-breaking bugs!

  • Nah. You have enough options for the hatch still.

    1. You can get there before the killer kicks it.
    2. You can bring a hatch offering to force it to spawn in a known location.
    3. You can stalk the killer if you really, really want to use the key.
    4. You can bring hatch aura perks if you're willing to replace one of your four second chances.

That's more than enough for you to squeeze in at least one of these things.

  • Whenever there is a killer nerf, players of a killer will bail for a few reasons.

One is that they're just generally unhappy in terms of attitude with the nerfs for one reason or another, which is understandable. Whether it's a forced change in playstyle, a nerf to their favorite add-ons, or just expecting BHVR to completely screw it up as they often do. It's demoralizing, and in a game that already has a very unhappy playerbase any further demoralization makes people give up.

Another is that the reduction in a killer's power cap may make the gap between the killer and very good survivors insurmountable. Spirit was played heavily because she was among the few that stood a slim chance against high end survivor teams. Now she doesn't. Her power is reduced to being a mobility-only tool at base rather than a strong anti-loop with the option to be used for mobility. Tiers matter a lot in a game as wildly unbalanced as DBD.

Yet another is BP investment to maintain playability. Spirit was already somewhat add-on reliant, even for "good" Spirits, and all of her greens got gutted along with her basekit nerf. Now that there's a smaller pool of viable affordable add-ons for her, it takes exponentially more BP to play her beyond basekit because of how many junk items there are in bloodwebs. Almost nobody is finished with this game's horrific grind, so some people will jump ship to play a killer that they're able to save some BP with. As an aside, Bubba's probably the perfect killer for playing without add-ons currently and comes with BBQ for the grind.

A Spirit-specific reason that people have brought up already is that perks have shifted heavily in favor of survivors versus Spirit's power. Stridor's worthless now against Iron Will, Shadowstep hides scratches, Circle of Healing is devastating to any killer that doesn't instadown, and Lucky Break got buffed for more scratch hiding.

One of these alone is enough to make some people decide it's not worth it. Put it all together and you get a mass exodus.

  • RPD. What in the hell were they thinking by not splitting it into east side and west side?
