  • lol, they're never gonna deal with them, DBD is a cheater haven, it's been over for years

  • It's absolutely cheating, but BHVR has a long track record of condoning cheating so long as it doesn't bypass EAC.

  • ngl I was expecting another wedgie from you C3

  • Much like the last couple releases, he isn't worth any real money. Shards, fine, whatever. But not USD.

What do you think of Dredge? Why is that killer so rare?

Dredge is great, with the right add-ons. Without them, he's just mediocre, an M1 killer with good map mobility but fairly poor chase. The reworked prestige system actually hurt a lot of killers that rely on high-end addons since they can't get them consistently, which leads to lower playrates due to not having playable builds most of the time.

  • He'll be around the bottom tier. Lackluster power that takes 3 hits, with the required first hit able to be cleansed mid-chase. He has the weaknesses of Ghostface's reveal mechanic, Nemesis's 3 hitting, an awkward projectile that does NOTHING on a DIRECT hit which is so dumb of BHVR, without any of the benefits of any other killer besides automatically-placed Sadako TVs that can be turned off quickly and easily and come with a huge cooldown and, once again, do not have any benefit besides some mediocre map mobility.

He's an overcomplicated mess with no real strengths, just like Singularity. Everything he does can be done a lot better by a more specialized killer.

  • Bamboozle is more of a perk tax on Bubba. He doesn't work at all if survivors are allowed to use every vault 3 times, even if good survivors will make Bamboozle do nothing else.

  • mmr totally works perfectly and isnt a completely useless and busted system, right guys?

I lowkey miss the DS + UB + BT + exhaustion perk meta. Why? Because it left nearly no room for gen rushing perks. Also, if you didn't tunnel, camp, or slug you frequently invalidated 75% of the survivor perks in the lobby. I planned to play that way anyway, so getting an indirect reward for it was nice.

People used DS as genrush perk back then because it made survivors functionally invincible for 60 seconds at a time.

I am by no means an expert in programming, but why is it so difficult/impossible for BHVR on their end to run a program that detects if a player does something that they shouldn't be able to do in a match (based on their perk loadout) and then auto-ban based on that? Seems like a way easier solution than this ridiculous, time-consuming process where the burden is all on the players to do the reporting, but hoping people smarter than me can explain why this solution won't work.

BTW, I don't think it's just paranoia. I frequently run into players doing things they shouldn't be able to do in matches. Most frequent is subtle changes in speed as survivor is running in a straight line, scratch marks non-existent or randomly disappearing, or getting ridiculous amounts of distance after losing line of sight.

It's because at the lowest bases of the game's programming, a holdover from the original release where everything was p2p, almost everything was calculated client-side. There's still mostly client-side calculations in the game as a result, and anything done client-side is the most vulnerable part of a game. BHVR would have to re-code the game from the ground-up to permanently close all the security holes, which is not viable for them from a financial or technical standpoint, even if they had the talent to do it (which they don't).

  • Something something individually-tracked killer MMRs. Even though that's a load of bull.

  • This sucks.

No, really, the only good thing I'm reading is the killer FOV stuff and Billy maybe being pulled out of his D- dumpster fire tier into a solid C+.

What the hell are killers supposed to do when you gut regression AND chase? I guess we can just tunnel harder but man that's frigging boring.

  • Decisive Strike, but remove the Conspicuous Action deactivation part, and make the stun 5 seconds.

    Oh wait.

  • Once upon a time it wasn't difficult at all to get rare add-ons and items. Before the second Prestige rework you weren't forced to Prestige every time you finished Level 50. Just another reason why the current Prestige system is still totally pointless beyond unlocking the perks.

sadly yeah. I just wish they would do an I.P ban. I know that there is also ways around that as well. But it would be a lot better than just an account ban. (honestly dont know how they ban ppl never have had it done lol) but idk there is too many hackers these days.

IP and HWID bans are unfortunately very easy to evade, they've been beaten since the 90s. All it takes is a crappy VPN or a dynamic IP from your ISP, and a cheap HWID spoofer.

  • It's a guaranteed way to tell where safety is. This is beneficial to all survivor players regardless of skill level, hours played, or overall map knowledge. It frees up the brain to make other judgments. I don't even bother playing survivor without Deja Vu + WoO because they just make the same so easy.

So I hit a burn out on this game, Started playing it again today, Trying to finish out the winter event.

why is there such a HUGE amount of people hacking now? Like they aren't even hiding there names. They have their youtubes and twiches right in their name. And live streaming them doing it.

Is this what I have to look forward to every game now? back to back same person :( I love(d) this game!

The cheaters never left, they just switched to being subtle cheaters for a while. Now they're getting bold again, and BHVR doesn't care because they think banned accounts = more sales, when in reality the cheaters are still living off of thousands of EGS launch accounts.

That's the answer if the question is "when will you change this" or "when will you add that". If people ask questions about other things, assuming those questions are chosen, they get proper answers.

There's plenty to ask, people just choose not to and get mad at the obvious answers for some reason.

Nobody CARES about the fluff stuff, the game's got issues that have persisted all 7 years it's been around and people want answers. It's not really an AMA if none of the questions have real answers. If they only want fluff questions then they should say so themselves.

  • There's zero point to those AMAs, the answers are always "We can't say anything about that at this time."

  • The Until Dawn dudes? Neat "games" but I'll probably just watch it on YouTube.

  • It's bugged. It's kind of amazing how BHVR has weeks between Tome level releases, and yet they can't manage to bang out a couple dozen challenges without screwing up when almost all of them are recycled from past Tomes.

  • A killer actually following the "Survivors' Rulebook for Killers"? Foolish. There's zero reason to play nice when all it gets you is toxicity. Yeah, yeah, the cycle continues, blah blah blah. It's on BHVR to fix, it's their game.

  • @Demodorkin said:

As a Survivor main, I'd love the option to NOT get matched with the last killer I just played against (the Killer, not the player). A no-repeat-killer checkbox would be nice.

Granted, I guess Killers could change to whatever they want once we're in the lobby, but it would be a step toward not seeing the same Killer (in this case Chucky) over and over and over.

I'd happily accept the longer matchmaking time on my end.

Killers haven't been able to change in lobby for a very long time. Ever since MMR was added.

  • Can confirm, same on Steam, was using Stake Out and as a result hit at least 9 Greats in a row. It counted up during the game, but failed to register after the game.

    ok....

    Again, lots to unpack here.

Yes. I do. I do play Xeno. I play Xeno a lot. Actually, i want to make them my thitd p100 project because i like this killer that much. I also bought almostz all the skins for this killer because you started talking about money. I take this game serious, because i want this game to improve and because i really like the premise of DBD. Thats why ive been playing this game constantly for 3+ years. I think however, that all people need to differentiate real life problems from problems with a game. Believe me friend, i learned the struggles of real life the hard way. Thats why i say, that you take this game to serious. Its a game. A game is an entertainment material. Nothing more, nothing less. If the game gets this hard to you that you only think about its balance and if something is competetively viable (for you), you should seriously reconsider taking a break because you dont seem to enjoy the game for what it is anymore and see it as a job. I have seen this happen to a lot of players.

Not to Xeno. This is what i said: Second, the "invisible" hitboxes are normal hitboxes. You should learn about the tail hit box and how it behaves. Then you would know what your hitting. Thats what i did and it works fine for me.

Now lets look at what i said because i have the feeling you got it wrong.

    YOU ARE CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!

The tail hitbox looks extremely wonky. It sometimes looks like it hits air and clips through survivors. Thats why i asked for video evidence. I knew what you where refering to. Thats why i wront what i wrote. The "invisible" hitboxes are normal hitboxes. Thats how the game works. This is the kind of skill cieling many killers have to play around. Hillbilly, Bubba, Blight, Huntress, Slinger and many more have a very similar issue. Even on Pig i encountered this problem in my 2k hours of playtime on her. The ambush can get stuck on "invisible" hitboxes and completely stop the attack. I actually called them "invisible-ambush-hitboxes". Lovely accurate. This is a overall problem of the game.

How do we deal with it? We learn and play around it. On Pig, i literally started to learn about all these invisible-ambush-hitboxes. Where they are, how they work and how i play around them. Thats experience. Bug-based skill expression. Most Blight players have even adapted these kinds of bugs and made them tools for better gameplay. Same has been happening to Wesker players if i recall correctly.

Going back to Xeno, i will help you out with a nice video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlh9IjJEIsw

This is how i learned a lot about Xenos tail. The tail hitbox works very different than its visual feedback. If you not only understand how this works but also how survivor hitboxes work (a topic that has been discussed and explained a lot on the forums up to this point) you will solve your hitting-survivors-problem relatively fast. I trust your skill in that.

Is it bad that the visual feedback is this awful sometimes? Yes absolutely. It sucks that it looks like you hit through the wall but still hit the survivor and it sucks that you hit the survivors model but clip though them because the hitboxes didnt collide. But thats it. You didnt hit the hitbox of the survivor.

On that, i dont think i said anything wrong.

Now to the killers. Is it bad that we didnt get to try out the unbugged cooldown on Xeno? Yes! Is it still fine? Absolutely yes! The killer is still very strong if you understand its hitbox and therefore hit most of your attacks. The cooldown nerfs from where justified. A killer should get punished accordingly for missing. Same with Chucky.

In terms of Knight, i, and many others should feel insulted. The killer is buggy and addon dependend, but he definitely works. If you dont trust me, take a look at this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYrmThARPuo - Guide to the Knight from a very invested Kight main

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W2_zooiqu4 - Guide to counter the Knight form the same very invested Knight main

Same can be said about Singularity, a killer with an extremely high skill floor and cieling, that most people really enjoy SINCE LAUNCH.

    Some examples are:

    https://www.youtube.com/%40CocolatteLive

Or even our lord and saviour: OnePumpWilly

Calling this killer useless is downright unjustified.

To the other killers we go. All the nerfs you mention where done for the overall health of the game. Pyramid head m2 into m1 was stupid and had to go. Was the solution the best option possible? Maybe yes, maybe not. Would have to try other alternatives out. Pinheads engineers fang is a strong addon still. You literally cant unhook against this addon. A funny youtuber at the name of Choy actually went on a win streak with this addon and literally didnt lose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh0DzRW4yBM

I (luckily) wasnt around back then when the Legion released. I however know that they where one of the most unhealthy characters ever released into the game. Im sure some players like @Pulsar or @Dwight_Fairfield experienced that time of DBD and can support me in that the changes to this killer where VERY welcome.

To perks. With mettle of man, i agree. Circle of healing was extremely unhealthy for over a year. It took a very long time for BHVR to finally attack the problematic part of the perk, being the self healing aspect.

Last but not least, DBD sales because of its premise. Its a "horror" game in which you can chase Steve Harrington as the Shape on Gideon meat plant while Cheryl Mason is healing Jill Valentine and Ash is finishing a generator. Thats the main selling point of not only the game but all the licenses. This is also the main selling point of Chucky. All his voice lines. All the animations. Thats what drives people to a character. On top of that, Chucky is a strong character for people that play this game more competetively. Nothing wrong with that. Saying that a killer gets nerfed just because survivors complain is also needless us VS them so.... Yeah. Just look at how long Bubba was able to facecamp without any measure takes against it. They even posted a picture on twitter, when people where scared about Bubba being removed, where he was facecamping a survivor. They embraced a meme, that made a TON of survivors ragequit really fast.

I dont think that most of the balance desicions in DBD are based on commercial reasoning. Just look at Freddy. The killer is horrible. His perks are bad, memey but bad compared to other perks. No skins at all. Freddy is a killer that you actually need to pay for if you want to play him. Contrary to this we have Wesker, another licensed killer, that is recieved as pretty strong. Was he nerfed from PTB to live? Yes. His hitbox was way too small. This wasnt liked by BHVR, so they adjusted the hitbox to find a nice middle ground. The middle ground hes sitting on now for a long time. No changes, although survivors complain about him.

Balancing decisions, although sometimes being a bit wonky, are based on REASONABLE player feedback and a basic understanding for what is healthy for the overall game. Sure, there are some exceptions (Sadako) but generally speaking, i dont think BHVR is this antagonist that just wants your money and doesnt care about your experience at all.

I challenge you to reconsider your perspective on the game, certain characters, learn about the games mechanics and also its flaws and most of it all enjoy the game for what it is. A buggy, unbalanced mess.

Thanks for reading and im looking forward to your response.

I think you and I just have fundamentally different views on BHVR's practices and motivations. I assume their decisions are business-based and are completely intentional. I also just plain don't care if their decisions are intended or are mistakes, since the outcome for the consumers is the same regardless. I'm unlikely to ever give BHVR a charitable view.

You give them much more slack than I do because you assume not everything they do is intentional. You appear to be okay with the game being very sloppily put together. We're not going to see eye-to-eye on what is acceptable to sell to people.

You're definitely right about one thing though. I don't enjoy the game anymore. I haven't for a very, very long time. Whether it's through malice, greed, or sheer incompetence, BHVR's made the game unenjoyable. Once the current rift's done, I'm uninstalling.

    Ok....

Lots to unpack here. First thing i want to say is: You take this game a bit too serious.

Second, the "invisible" hitboxes are normal hitboxes. You should learn about the tail hit box and how it behaves. Then you would know what your hitting. Thats what i did and it works fine for me. I dont have the tail clipping through survivors. Could you provide a clip showing the matter? Im interested.

So Chucky will be nerfed after release..... What exactly do you base that on? On Xeno? The killer that got nerfed because they had literally no cooldown after the ptb for missing attacks? (The tail after the ptb was bugged. If you count bugs as nerfs, i dont know what to tell you) On Singularity? The killer that got buffed 3 times after release? On Skull merchant, who was and still is way too strong in certain scenarios and in my opinion only got changed, not nerfed OR buffed. On knight? Again, a Killer that got buffed and worked on a ton to make him where he is now. (Guards "work" + haste after placing guard to catch up, ...) Or do you base your opinion on Wesker, who was bugged after the ptb, then got worked to have a good middle ground between a too generous and too small of a hitbox. Even in the rework department, BHVR doesnt go back on some changes. Even at things that should be changed back. Case and point Sadako. Since summer shes in this awful state. No changes, no nerfs.

To say that Chucky will be nerfed based on BHVR's recent change log is downright wrong.

What happened from the PTB to now? He got nerfed and buffed the right way. A fairer cooldown, a fairer scamper and a stronger slice and dice to not be reliant on addons.

For the sake of argument, I take my money seriously, and new chapters for the game cost money. This is not a difficult concept. However, how seriously anyone takes the game is not a real issue here.

Bouncing off of what is visually thin air is what I consider an invisible hitbox. Calling it a normal hitbox is splitting hairs. Here is an example since you seem to think Xeno's problems are not real.

    https://youtu.be/eyIYWufse3w

There's also invisible collisions over hay bales in Borgo, and a gigantic invisible collision box around Cow Tree. Those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head while I'm waking up.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, but I no longer believe that you actually play Xenomorph.

As far as tail strikes going through survivors goes, I shall refer you to a thread from two days ago that went virtually ignored, but has gifs of the exact issue. https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/397964/xeno-tail But you can keep thinking that the tail going through a survivor who isn't even moving is somehow a skill issue.

Chucky's predicted nerfs are indeed heavily based on Xeno, as that is the most recent killer. I see you choose to ignore the tail hitbox nerfs and the fact we never got to play with unbugged Xeno before she got nerfed. I don't play Skull Merchant but reception to her changes seems rather mixed. Sadako changes were taken poorly. The fact that you have to say that Knight "works" implies that Knight does not work even after being buffed, which means that BHVR doesn't want Knight to be playable. Singularity was designed from the outset to be useless, but the sales driver of that chapter was always Made For This anyway so it never financially mattered what BHVR did to Singularity. It's no coincidence that MFT's getting nerfed AFTER Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.

This is not based purely on their most recent changelogs. Pyramid Head got nerfed several times in a row shortly after his release. Legion as well. Cenobite had his best add-ons gutted pretty quickly. This also applies to certain survivor perks. Mettle of Man and Circle of Healing come to mind immediately, as they were released in massively overpowered states, left alone for a bit, then nerfed once sales dropped off. Reassurance as well. They've got a long history of nerfing things with really suspicious timing.

The changes to Chucky as he is now appear fair, yes. But I'm preparing for the worst and am going to wait and see if he remains worth the money a couple months from now. If he gets nerfed in the meantime, then I lose nothing. If he doesn't, I still lose nothing except a little playtime with him. His perks are so bad that they won't drive sales and there's no new survivor with the chapter so there's no sales there, so BHVR's marketing strategy right now must be to rely on the popularity of Child's Play combined with the in-game design of Chucky. If Chucky's weak, then they have absolutely nothing but nostalgia for marketing, so Chucky has to release strong. But Chucky cannot remain strong, because it'll make the majority of the playerbase (survivors) complain endlessly, so Chucky will get nerfed as soon as the money flow slows. It's just going to be a typical bait-and-switch from live service game developers, the signs are all there.

    Why the negativity???

Xeno is still an alright killer. The tail works fine last time i played them (yesterday), tunnels are very fast option to traverse the map. Who says that Chucky will be nerfed????

I dont get this doomsday posting.

You say "negativity", I say "realistic expectations".

The tail does not work "fine" though. It still constantly goes through survivors without injuring them, bounces off invisible collision boxes around many loops, and is extremely inconsistent compared to release Xenomorph's tail hitbox regardless of the speed fixes/changes.

I say Chucky will be nerfed based on an established pattern of previous behavior from BHVR and other live service industry developers. Can I guarantee it will happen? No, but I'm not willing to risk my money on it until at minimum the next full-release chapter.

It is not "doomsday posting" to not buy into the hype. The game's not going anywhere, it's not going to shut down next week.

Friends to the end is really good, no?

I'm really excited for chucky. The voice lines are awesome, the power seems fun as well. I love the way he just screams, stops screaming to vault and starts screaming again.

The dash is really strong. Using it correctly is definitely the way to go.

The buffs to the slice and dice are very welcome and the nerfs to cooldown and vaulting seem logical to me.

I'm curious about the other addon changes though.

He seems to me like another Wesker. A really good designed killer that is fun to play and fun to play against.

Last but not least, he's 3rd person camera. That alone makes him stand out and change up the monotony of killer that many are feeling right now.

I'm definitely giving him a try when he releases in 2 days.

Friends to the End is not good, no. I'm sorry, but survivors need to be so bad at the game for a 20 second Expose to do anything that you could play perkless and take them down just as quickly. Friends to the End is definitely his most useful perk, but that's more a statement of how terrible the others are rather than how good Friends to the End is.

As far as him being another Wesker goes, I have real Wesker at home. Chucky may be fun to play right now, but he'll get gutted as soon as sales fall off and end up in the garbage bin along with Singularity, Xenomorph, and almost all of the rest of the roster.

This leaves the third-person camera as his selling point in terms of gameplay mechanics. And sure, he's the only source of that for Killer at the moment. If that's all it takes to get people to use a character then maybe BHVR should give Trapper a third-person camera.

  • I'm going to pass. His perks are really bad and Chucky himself is going to get nerfed more within a month.

  • I read the thread title as "Now that Pig is getting nerfed". I need sleep. And for Pig to not get nerfed so much that it's becoming reflex.

  • I genuinely wonder what it'll take for BHVR to take action. I can think of only one thing but there's no way the playerbase as it currently is can organize enough to impact reviews in any meaningful way, especially since content creators don't have to deal with cheaters anymore thanks to their special queues so there's nobody with reach to get significant numbers up in arms.

  • TL walls are just okay, decent Bubbas are gonna Bamboozle the T and force a fast triple vault on the L.

  • Just treat him like perma T3 Myers for overall gameplan but with a much weaker window game, but much faster pallet breaks. If he brings Bamboozle (which he should tbh) then try to only run him in areas where you can chain windows so that his chainsaw is much harder to use. When it comes to pallet loops, you either need to throw earlier than you think or need to be supremely confident you can get the stun.

  • People are gonna try a new ANYTHING in one of the stalest games on the internet? Shocker.

  • Once again, first match of the night, another cheater going 110 without injury/gens done. Actions speak louder than words, and BHVR's silence is ######### deafening.

  • @BlueMoonBRUHMOMENT said:

If there was an "easy" way the devs would 100% do it. Cheat developers have gotten really good at there craft.

I know that it doesn't really provide any comfort, but with BHVR I think the devs are pretty good, and are actively working on better anti cheat.

I disagree that the BHVR devs are working on anticheat at all. They made a separate queue for Fog Whisperers so they get cheater-free games, but it's normal players who pay the price now and are stuck with a problem BHVR would rather ignore than spend time and money on fixing. It's becoming increasingly apparent to me that BHVR flat-out does not care.

  • Just MFT. Everything else I use is older. Sprint Burst, Lithe, Adrenaline, WoO, Deja Vu, a few other random perks for doing specific tome challenges. Seriously, Deja Vu + WoO lets you totally turn off your brain, everywhere you need to go is on aura.

  • It does precisely what it is designed to do, which is prevent seeing someone's messages/get spammed with in-game friend requests. If it prevented you from matching with blocked players, then you'd get people who block everyone who beat them, or everyone who plays Nurse/Blight, or everyone who wears neon cosmetics, or whatever people decide to block based on. Queues would be a mess.

  • It's efficient for doing tome challenges that require blinds. Otherwise no.

  • Meg. It's not even close, I don't think there's even a single survivor free or paid that has comparable perks to Sprint Burst + Adrenaline, and Quick & Quiet is great too for some builds.

  • Would everyone LIKE to see it? Yes. Will it ever happen? No, never. The game's a legal department's nightmare, which is why we don't have it.

  • The most significant nerf is how much smaller the hitbox is for the tail now compared to release. It's now so tiny it's not consistently hitting even when passing through survivor models visually.

  • They're gonna leave him alone for the first few weeks, let people buy him, then nerf him into the floor. And it's a perfectly legal business practice for digital services like DBD.

  • That's DemogorgOn. With an O. You have a screenshot with the name right in it.

  • Hexes are indeed supposed to be strong, but they have too many factors holding them back. Unfortunately, they've never really been THAT good outside of like Plaything + Pentimento, or original Undying + 200% Ruin, or Undying + Devour Hope. NOED snitches on itself now so that's no good.

If it weren't for the fact we're getting a new (though mostly-useless) hex with Chucky, I'd have said hexes are a dead and forgotten perk archetype like boons.

  • You'll never get real hot takes/unpopular opinions here because the mods will delete anything hotter than Taco Bell Mild Sauce.
