  • I'd change the grind. Perk tiers should be eliminated, purchased DLC should immediately have their perks available to all characters, and the universal perks should be always permanently unlocked. Shrine of Secrets-purchased perks likewise should be instantly available to all characters.

  • Those windshield wipers need to be replaced.

Having fun? No? Not an incentive?

If someone doesn´t has fun with the game and constantly dcs/suicides. Then it would be best to take a break. No harm in that. Just take your time, play something else (i heard civ is a great game) and come back after a few months with new energy.

Its better than constantly ruining the game for everyone else.

You've missed my point, which is that there is no objective mechanical reason for solos to not hook suicide. "Fun" is subjective and is not a factor.

Perhaps you should consider Civilization 5 yourself. You look like you could use a break from the forums at least.

Playing the game normally isn´t an incentive?

There is no perfect match. Where you get the best teammates, offerings, map, pallet spawns and the killer you like going against the most. So why do people still attempt to get the perfect combination? It makes 0 sense to me.

For example, earlier today i had a match as Huntress against a 4 man SWF. 3 of them were prestige 100 and the last one 69. I played with a meme build and one of them still suicided. They were all streamers. So i entered the twitch channel of one of them after the match. Turns out the next match they got a hacker. In order to report they stopped the stream to get access to the vod. So curious me, i watched the vod of my match with them and ohh man, they really weren´t short on insults for absolutely no reason at all. Like i played chill and even ate some blast mines, and their comments were insults and smack talking, even when they were losing. Fast forward, the next match they got after the hacker was a Huntress that let them bleed out at 5 gens.

So instead of having a chill match against a Agitation + Iron Grip Huntress, they preferred to suicide to go against sweaty players.

Moral of the story is, that sometimes its better to play your cards and have some fun. Instead of hoping for the perfect hand, while feeling miserable.

Correct. The game itself is not an incentive. An incentive is a reward or avoidance of punishment. You are not rewarded for sticking out a losing match, and there is no punishment to avoid besides a short queue time.

The provided in-game goals for players of DBD are to grind endlessly to 1. get all perks on all characters to tier 3; 2. get through the battlepass for the cosmetics. Making the Korean MMO style grind more efficient matters to people, and one-hook suiciding is a tool that gets you to favorable grinding conditions faster.

How is survivors disconnecting or suiciding on first hook a dev issue, instead of a playerbase issue?

It's a developer issue because there is no in-game incentive at all as a solo to not first hook suicide. In fact, you're incentivized to die immediately if things don't go your way, in order to rapidly get through tomes/dailies/find people still using cakes. DCing at least has the DC penalty,

  • Remember that one time Mathieu Cote got stomped by old instablind flashlights on the Asian server during an interview?

Remember how flashlights got nerfed into the floor and Hag got buffed like a week later?

Remember how he genuinely believed both of those things were totally fine until he got forced to play the game for once in his life?

Yeah, they don't play their own game unless they absolutely cannot wriggle out of it.

  • It's never going to happen. BHVR claimed it was going to happen but that was during year 3. A year later there was one or two posts making excuses for why they hadn't said or done anything, and then absolutely nothing else.

It was always just a cynical ploy to get gullible idiots to double dip purchase.

  • Ace is certainly the quietest.

I'm of the opinion that Bill is loudest. I can pinpoint an injured Bill from what feels like miles away compared to other survivors.

  • The problem is that with each new killer, there's at least two new dailies to go along with them, while there's only one new daily per survivor. The ratio of possible dailies is out of whack.

  • Nnnno you don't? Just grab the trial, grab the code, and cancel.

  • People want it because DBD plays very similarly to any random episode of Scooby Doo. A small group of idiots run around in random directions while terrible, license-free music plays. The gang loops around non-euclidean hallways, often right into the monster's face who then immediately fails an object permanency test designed for infants and loses them. Then the episode just sorta ends after running around for a bit.

  • Bamboozle + Superior Anatomy makes window loops not just shut down, they become outright dangerous for survivors unless they immediately link into something.

Do NOT use PWYF on him, each charge used counts as an attack, meaning you'll basically never have stacks. There's also not any need to use Iron Maiden on him, I can count on one hand the number of survivors that have timed a locker exit well enough that I had to M1.

To avoid bumping things on uneven loops, you can face away from the wall and chase sideways for a few seconds. Some loops are really obnoxious about it though, like stubbing your toe on a tire rim on Azarov's. Or jamming your finger on a car mirror on Azarov's. Or stubbing your toe on a tiny pebble on Ormond. Or tantruming on literally nothing on the broken concrete walls in Midwich. Or having a low-hanging tree branch lightly stroke your hair on multiple maps.

As others have said, he does take a little bit of experience to get working but it doesn't take much. The only difficult part of learning him is maximizing his chainsaw time while in chase, and learning when you can rev at a pallet. If you're able to take a loop tight enough without bumping, a pallet and a half width of distance between you and a survivor is close enough that if they don't drop the pallet, you can chainsaw them at most pallet loops before they get around. This distance is longer with chilis/beast marks.

If they stop at a pallet while you're chainsawing, try to respect it to get the fast chainsaw pallet break. If you have sufficient remaining charges and they instead see the respect and try to greed, you have about a third of a second to recognize they're greeding and blast through to still catch them.

If you are stunned by a pallet, don't bother using the chainsaw to then break it. It takes 2 seconds to rev, then about a second for the saw to break. This is much slower than the 1.8 seconds it takes to kick it.

Ideally, you want to break a pallet from a side that gives the survivors nothing useful to go towards. This is just killer basics. Get them in the open with no safety tools whenever possible.

As with other killers, learn which tile setups are not even worth your time to chase in. Even terrible survivors can make you waste a lot of time if they have 4+ really strong tiles all linked together.

  • They really should just add a delay to the incentive bonuses updating. 10 minute update ticks should be sufficient and should absolutely be applied the instant the queue button is hit.

  • I used Jolt myself in my build to make progress towards Tools of the Trade. I can confirm they do count as generics, despite still being marked as Demogorgon's.

  • I'm in agreement with Pulsar that there will almost certainly be RPD crashes.

Survivors will have the sound bug again where they randomly stop making any noise whatsoever. Probably because SOMEONE keeps developing on an OLD FORK.

Wesker's voice lines will be playing simultaneously alongside Pinhead and Trickster's.

BP incentives will be bugged and killswitched again within 24 hours until the midchapter.

  • I started on the PS4 back when it was free on PS+. My god what a nightmare, with framerates so low that survivors would vanish mid-chase from leaving LOS for a split second. It was literally easier to chase by staring at the floor and following the scratch marks, and the reduced visual clutter improved the framerate. Lery's was unplayable for a while because the PS4 would run at about 10 FPS on that map.

The abysmally low max sensitivity also made 360s a lot more effective. Against a survivor that did 360s, you had to predict they'd do it (thanks, low framerate), full hard turn on the stick, lunge, and hope that the autoaim did the rest, which to its credit it usually did.

TV screens also tend to pick up more glare, which made playing killer in the daytime a painful experience.

On PC, you're not restricted by extremely low sensitivity limits, limited button mapping, PC monitors are easier to keep away from glare, and you can apply nVidia filters to help yourself see to boot. The biggest and most impactful difference is the performance. A good PC runs the game at a very stable high framerate, even with how horribly optimized the game has been since its inception.

Also, most killers just plain play better on PC. Even something as simple as chasing around a loop is improved by the increased control precision, able to pull sharper turns and precise corners, which EVERY killer in the game benefits from, not simply ranged killers.

The game is just BETTER on PC in every quantifiable way, which is why I abandoned the PS4 version when it became obvious cross-progression was never going to happen and the game barely runs on it as it is.

  • I do consistently well with killer outside of the usual 4-man SWF sweat squads or cheaters pretending like I didn't see them finish 2 gens simultaneously with only 1 person standing. 7.5, 8 if it's a good day.

I'm trash at survivor because I don't play it. All I know is "do gen, hit skillcheck, eat hot chip and lie". I'm a solid 2 because some don't even know how to do that much.

  • I personally would not use Blast Mine, because it's ultimately a minor inconvenience at most. There's a lot of better things to put in that slot, such as an Exhaustion perk.

Mine is OTR, Windows of Opportunity, Lithe, and a flex slot for CoH or Prove Thyself or something else strong like Built to Last + Purple Medkit with add-ons.

You can basically just go on that perk ranking site and pick 4 of the top 15-ish survivor perks and you've got a strong build.

  • I tried a build based on this, but swapped out Sloppy Butcher and BBQ for Pain Res and Make Your Choice. You can ALWAYS find the Make Your Choice target thanks to the Lav Mic even if you're forced to use a non-Scourge Hook, and you're trying to make use of Scourge Hooks regardless so Pain Res fits in the build perfectly well for slowdown.

  • It's not going on the monthly list for regular PS+, it's going on the permanent PS+ Extra/Premium catalogue.

To answer your question, it's something BHVR promised years ago for Nintendo Switch players but it never materialized. I assume Sony and Microsoft just plain don't want to allow it as it'd cut into their bottom line.

Feels like I have to play whole Hex build including NOED or Pentimento to even have a chance to get this done. Uffff. Not feeling like doing it. Probably skiping this one (at least for now). I don't like these challenges. Feels like about luck and not really something you can do much about.

You literally don't have to do anything for this challenge, you just put on Undying and run straight to it and camp it, with the addition of Pentimento and/or NOED if you want for insurance. It's not "sacrifice all survivors while Undying is still active", it's "finish a trial with any hex totem active while using Undying in your perk loadout, win or lose".

Wait, you're mad because the killers got buffed so much that many people don't want to play survivor and so the queues are instant? Your solution is to kick the survivors in the guts and make it so survivors are punished if they die on hook?

"Waaaa! It's too easy for them to get into new games! Behaviour should MAKE them play with ######### teammates and toxic killers!"

Oh, I personally don't care what survivors do, I'm a killer main so I'm not mad in the slightest. This is just me considering how and why survivors are acting the way they are. But it'd sure cut down on the survivors complaining about their teammates dying on hook if they were forced to stop killing themselves so much.

  • Because this is the face I make reading the forums half the time.

  • BP incentives will likely help some with the current killer queue times, but the end-goal of them is to make queues instant for both sides at the same time. It'll help killers be less bored with waiting around, but is not a solution for survivors throwing games.

I do like the idea of a short lockout on lobby dodge though, cuts down on shopping around.

  • People are probably playing more Blight because he's the current tome killer and are cleaning up the tome challenges.

As far as Nurse goes, my guess is killers are trying to enjoy her before she gets gutted, since every time the forums hyperfixate on complaining about one killer in particular they get nerfed into the floor. This pattern has been seen with Deathslinger, Billy (a bit of an outlier since the main complaints were the charge speed addons yet BHVR gutted him completely), Spirit, Freddy, Pig, Bubba's masks, and even friggin' Wraith of all killers during the brief period where his power was actually pretty alright at pallets, all directly preceded by bandwagon complaining. If I cared about playing Nurse, I'd be getting rounds in too before the inevitable.

Artist can counter the hold W whereas dredge can't. Artist can place the bird and chases you as 115% killer but when dredge places his remnant he chases you as 92% killer.

Being a 115% with no power functionality against hold W is not countering it at all. Quite the opposite. Setting birds makes her a 92% as well, and accomplishes absolutely nothing against holding W except making her take even longer to catch up.

  • So you want people to grind...for the same old builds once a month? When this is already Korean MMO levels of grind? Hell no my dude.

  • Dredge is a B, he has good, infinitely-reusable map presence but is otherwise mostly a normal M1 killer who suffers the same problems as Artist in tiles.

Sadako is a C, she's another M1 but with a useless gimmick. She's just a slightly better Freddy, but if you want to teleport places, just play Dredge instead, and if you want a similar stance dance you're better off with Wraith.

Artist is a B-. She just makes you leave the tile and hold W to the next one, it's not like she can do anything else.

  • Video recording is too space-hungry. I never record so it's a totally useless reporting system for me and I imagine many others.

  • play normal to 8 hooks, hockey-based matchmaking counts it as a crushing loss each time and you get fat bp gains

  • She's low-A at best these days, honestly. 110% M1 killer outside of her a power that has a pretty long recharge and is still stopped in her tracks by predropping W-holders without the instant-recharge addon.

I mean just look at all the licensed killers we have now and think about how good they are compared to the majority of free killers

idk if it is some kind of a fetish they have that they design every single licensed killer with super weak power, except for maybe myers and bubba who got some pretty decent chances to instadown and win the match in like a very short span of tiime, if survivors make the mistake of grouping up ofc

Myers is not good. Hell, Bubba was bottom-tier until his rework, people only bought him for old BBQ.

  • I mean, the answers are fairly obvious - any M1 killer with a power that is difficult to get significant chase value out of, meaning Trapper, Sadako, Doctor, Freddy, etc. Besides them, Billy and Deathslinger, because they were both gutted.

  • This is not a competitive game, the minor DC penalty is already unusual.

If you want a game with forever-long DC penalties, play Gundam Battle Operation 2. Disconnect one time due to a power flicker? Enjoy not being able to play the game at all for 30 hours.

  • I miss the old corn, before the map wasn't covered by an oversaturated dehydrated-urine-yellow filter.

I also miss old Spirit, old Billy, old Deathslinger, old BBQ.

I don't miss old Ormond or old Haddonfield though. Or old Bubba, it still blows my mind how BHVR left him bugged for years and didn't bother fixing him until both of the chainsaw bois got reworked.

  • It's survivors being salty. Even the killer scoreboard counts a bleedout/EGC death.

  • If I had to pick only one, Pain Res.

  • Well yeah, thanks to the Iron Will nerf. Iron Will being buffed to negate Stridor was what killed her in the first place. I've been enjoying using her again this patch, I've gotten a little tired of playing Bubba despite how effective he is against a good chunk of the survivor meta.

  • I always ran Whispers on nearly every build in the first place, but I'm enjoying Discordance for being able to disrupt multiple survivors and pick up the easier of the two chases with the extra slot now.

  • @GiveMeTheBox said:

This has to be one of the most incompetent things BHVR has done

Nah, the most incompetent thing was them screwing up a simple copy-paste for the 5th Anniversary cakes and then leaving them bugged for like 3 weeks because they all went on vacation.

  • Former Ghostface main here, been playing him again since the patch dropped and low-tier killers are finally fun again.

Whispers and/or Discordance to find people fast at start of match. Alternatively, Lethal Pursuer pairs well with his iri Outdoor Security Camera to get you info chains and downs.

STBFL because you're an M1 killer, but Exposing/gen grabbing the Obsession mitigates stack loss, especially if you get the Obsession as your first hook - less stack loss since you have nothing to lose at the start.

Gen regression or more aggressive chase perk. Jolt, Eruption, whatever your preference for regression. For a flex chase perk, I enjoy Bamboozle just because some structures are annoying otherwise, but this can be whatever you like.

As ARTRA said, learn some of the trickier stalk spots such as gaps in boards at structures. Not really a "need a guide to learn" thing, just be observant while you go about the map and look for tiny lines of sight in odd places. Nobody expects to be stalked from the other side of the wall on Cowshed.

  • For killer, my builds have always been 1 gen regression, 1 chaser, 1 info, and 1 flex slot to fill in whatever I feel is lacking with that killer. Really basic stuff. My killer builds generally look like:

SH:PR or Jolt or Call of Brine or something (formerly PGTW)

Bamboozle or STBFL or Make Your Choice

Whispers (I've been using it so long that I feel blind without it, I only take it off for Spirit)

Darkness Revealed or Discordance or Tinkerer or Lethal Pursuer with aura reading add-ons, generally some sort of second info perk to fill in the informational gaps in Whispers.

For survivor, it's Windows of Opportunity, Off the Record, a non-Dead Hard exhaustion perk, and some other decent perk. Circle of Healing, Prove Thyself, something like that in the last slot.

  • It has so many hoops to jump through to do anything that unless you're a streamer and record everything already, no. It does nothing for the average player.

  • For a 4v1 asym? Evil Dead.

In general? Tons of top tier games exist from the last 3 decades. Maybe get back into the FGC with the extra time even if nu Guilty Gear sucks.

  • The Cannibal, Leatherface aka Bubba - Easy

Very simple power in which you retain full control over movement. Requires only minimal knowledge to know what specific areas will cause the chainsaw to unexpectedly collide with the air and minimal practice to safely tighten movement around loops for maximum efficiency. 2 seconds to charge instant downs for the entire match. Counteracts many common survivor perks due to easy instant downs/multiple hits. Able to down multiple survivors in a single use of his power. Extremely fast pallet breaks. Many good/useful add-ons.

Will often win by default due to survivors expecting facecamping and disconnecting.

  • The ETA on actual, effective anticheat measures is when the servers finally shut down for good. Can't cheat if there's no game.

At the rate BHVR continues to drive the game into the ground, I give it six months.

  • More slowdown. That's the only correct answer.

  • No killer is completely safe from BHVR. Though the least likely to be gutted are the ones that have already been gutted. As far as ones that have not yet been gutted go, Trapper. He's the face of the game, is generally considered weak, and is very simplistic in terms of power design - there's nothing there to gut except how many traps spawn.

  • It SHOULD be 1m or more BP per side. 1m BP is roughly equal to the gains from ~20 games with BBQ/WGLF, and you're going to be playing a lot more than 20 games to reach Iri 1 each month.

What you'll actually get is 250.001 BP. Yes, that's a decimal point, because I fully believe they'll somehow insert one.

1 2 3 4 5 6
