    *Play as Killer*

    Chooses Bubba:

    Perks: NoED, Ruin, Franklins, BBQ

    4 Killers Join:

    David, Meg, Feng, Claudette

    Flashlight, Flashlight, Toolbox, Medkit.

    *Match Starts*

    Autohaven

David has Object of Obession and is chasing me with a flashlight.

I ignore. Proceed to chase the lonesome Meg. Hit Meg, she drops flashlight. Throws down two pallets, why? Who knows. Down Meg. Hook Meg. David tries to flashlight bait me while running circles around the hook. I crank chainsaw and go for him.

Feng runs by me. I turn, chainsaw Feng and the Meg she unhooked. Proceed to chase David. He baits, I turn back and hooks Feng. I pick up Meg. DS’d me. Cool.

Lose Meg. Go for Claudette. She just finished a gen. I hit Claudette. She runs, pallets, I get flashlighted by David who’s been chasing me the entire match. Lose Claudette.

Claudette rushes out of a locker, I turn, down Claudette. Hook Claudette. Feng dies on hook. Meg comes for the hook rush. Down Meg. Hook Meg. Meg - dead. Feng - dead. Claudette - dead. (Apparently I facecamped because they kept camping by the hooked).

BBQ shows that David is across the map on a generator. I go to David, he tries to loop, pallet stun fails. Gets hit. Runs.

Little did he know, his teammates wasted Pallets. Runs to a dead end. Downed. Dead. I close hatch. Game over.

    Post-match Ranks:

    Me: Rank 9

    David: Rank 2

    Meg: Rank 2

    Claudette: 5

    Feng: 5

    Post-match PMs:

“Facecamper and tunneler” “Understandable from a ######### Rank 9” “I’m a Rank 1 killer and don’t need to camp to pip” “Did you have fun” etc.

lmfao ######### is wrong with you guys? You sit behind a tire, wall, etc by the hook and I see you and you expect me to what? Run to a corner and count to 30?

To answer your question with all the seriousness possible, YES. You should always run to the oposite side of the map after a hook, message the survivors and ask if you can come out yet. You should only return to the game after all of them said it's ok. That's why an in game chat would be nice, so that the killer could ask permission before doing anything.

  • Someone already made a post about Chucky suggesting that he would work kind of like Wraith and it would fit. You Would have a chucky that can't attack survivors and would have a very small or enexistent terror radius, if he wanted to attack survivors he would use his hability and turn into Charles Lee Ray.

I actually play Claudette, but only because she is able to be a little more stealthy if I'm trying to avoid the killer seeing me while I'm doing things that are actually useful. The ones that do it to just hide.... How is that even fun?

They probably see streamers doing it and lets face it, some have a natural talent of making it seem fun and then comes the fever of trying to imitate them. Result: We (solo survivors) all suffer.

  • They already have penalties, less bloodpoints and high derank probability...

Instead of bloodweb things for prestige (cause I think they need to make the grind less overall for everyone), how about actual usable features?

My idea is - for each prestige level to a character, unlock a loadout slot for that character. Loadout's can be complete kits. For survivors it would include perk builds, items, addons and even offerings. For killers it would be power addons, perk builds and offerings. Hell, even cosmetics for those specific loadouts. I think people would love this feature. Not having to switch perks individually to change to a build with a different purpose.

I really like this idead. People would still be able to take maximum out of DBD without prestiging but would give that bit of extra commudity for those who prestige!

  • Although I couldn't care less about having a very defined Early, Mid and End game, I do like the idea of having an "early mission" like collecting gen repair parts through out the map (would be a team effort and would have a count like the gens have). And to prevent the "no setup" killers to start everything to fast, the killers (or at least some of them) would have to go get the weapons and/or assemble them or something. But it would change the game a lot and would change ballancing a lot in the early stages so I don't see that happen!

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I like the idea of it, but it indicates another band-aid fix for a much larger problem they chose not to fix. That is BHVR's favorite thing it seems, avoiding actual problems.

They should fix the larger overall problems with things like matchmaker, objective speed, and so on- and THEN start fixing things like perks and adjusting values.

This is the most important thing, without good matchmaking, is impossible to have a good ranking system and without that it will always be impossible to do a good balancing of the game thus making perk changes always seem unfair for some and very good for others but without reliable data (because of a bad ranking system supported by a bad matchmaking system) it's really impossible to say for sure if it's a good change or not.

  • I used to say Claudette because of self-care, wich, in the lower ranks, I felt like a good perk because you wouldn't need to rely so much on your team mates. I still consider it a good perk in the beginning, but I would have to say that Bill has the most important one to jump off low ranks. Has you might know if you ever read how the ranking system works, any time a player is hooked you loose 10 points in the altruism (now it has another name but works the same way) category and if a survivor performes an unsafe hook rescue, that survivor looses even more points. When I play with low rank friends, that's one of the more frequent mistakes I see them make and that's the main reason why they can't move past rank 15 or 14.

With that said, you should really give priority to borrowed time. I'm recently red rank again and I'm trying to farm items and bloodpoints so I use plunder's instinct, ace in the hole and We're gonna live forever wich leaves only room for one tier perk. I'm using borrowed time, without it, some times I wouldn't be able to perform hook rescues because the killer is area camping or just being looped nearby by some irracional team mate that's just harming the team by not allowing a safe hook rescue without borrowed time. I even gave up my favorite perk (Spine Chill) because of the farming. It doesn't mean you can't make safe hook rescues without it, I've played many times without it without big problems, but you waist a bit more time doing an hook rescue some times without it because you want to make sure is 100% same to do it. I really think boorowed time is a must have.

But in my honest opinion, when you're really starting, I advice you to play with a few different characters with different perks before you start leveling them up and get a feel for yourself of wich are the perks you feel more confident with. There's nothing like trying a bunch of them. Just try the most used perks first and when you get a feel of what your favorite is, just start leveling up the corresponding character with the bloodpoints that you, meanwhile, have saved. There's nothing like trying for yourself.

It's absolutely true though. I rank up survivor easily when I follow my ranking method - Just get Obj to half, and then max chase/altruism - At. All. Costs.

Doesn't matter if I unsafe hook, an unhook is still altruism points. (I tend to take BT in Purple and Red Ranks, but until then I run DS because you can't rely on your team to be altruistic at all in the lower ranks).

Didn't max one of my categories? 2 Gens left? Guess i'm ignoring gens, finding the hatch, and then will work on gens for as many points as possible, and if the killer ever comes - bait/loop that sucker into my team and take the hatch when they are all dead.

It's always at least 2-4 categories maxed, so it's more often at least a pip, and zero chance at a de-pip.

Absolutely selfish playing, absolutely ruins the fun for the other survivors, but by the games standards I have effectively "won".

Unsafe hooks counts has negative altruism points, you actually loose points if you do an unsafe hook rescue!

If a survivor is hooked you loose 10 points in the altruism category and you loose even more if you performe an unsafe hook rescue!

  • @horsegod386 said:

Honestly I feel like both survivor and killer have their own things that make them difficult, while survivor is easier than killer generally, the average survivor is miles worse than the average killer. Because of the reasons you listed, if you're a survivor you wont lost rank as long as you

    1. Unhook and heal the survivor you unhooked
    2. complete one(1) Gen

and that's it, that's all you need to do to maintain your rank as survivor while with killer you need to

    1. hook every survivor multiple times
    2. let a max of one(1) survivor escape
    3. not get gen rushed

and heaps of other stuff so killer forces you to always be adapting and better your playstyle while survivor simply lets you coast.

What survivor rank are you describing? 20?

Although I agree that survivor is a lot easier than killer, let's not exagerate! If the killer is really bad you can unhook 1 survivor, do several gens, get chassed for a bit, escape and still depip! It works both ways, if the killer is bad, you most likely will derank, if a survivor dc's, it improves the chances of depiping... Even an unsafe hook rescue can get you half way to a depiping guarantee!

In my opinion, although many people won't agree with me for obvious reasons (specially because of matchmaking flaws and ranking system flaws), the survivors ranking up or down or safe pipping, should be more inter-connected between the overall team effort. There should at least be one emblem for team play! Yes, SWF would be even more unfair but at least we probably wouldn't see so many atrocities some team mates do because they just don't care!

The ruin nerf will be released in the next update, Totem rarely lasts more than 1 minute. Good survivors know totem spawns. Totems have counters, small game, detective's hunch but it is better to go with DS, dead hard, BT, adrenaline, no? I play in Ps4 I'm Rank green or purple with killer, 80% of the games are trampled by SWF of red ranks.

I didn't meant ruin but Hex in general. It's suposed to be high risk, high reward. If it gets hidden in lockers, it stops being high risk, because it will be a lot harder to see (unless the locker has some tell in it, but then again, it wouldn't really improve it has an hiding place). Even nerfing the sound that it makes would make it lower risk since we usually only search certain areas we pass by if we hear the hex sound, otherwise we keep going.

About high ranks you are actually wrong... we don't really care about ruin. The only Hex that actually makes us search for it is Devour Hope if it triggers! Sure, when we pass by an area that usually has a totem we, at least, keep our hear in alert mode and we can actually loop an area looking for it but most players won't run around the map searching for ruin since it doesn't really botters us unless the killer is really good and can keep an high gen pressure.

I've been through many games were we opened the exit gates with ruin still up...

But then again, if totems were in lockers, the sound would still be there so it wouldn't really be hard to find but how would it be cleanesed? Would we get into the locker and wait for 15s? Wouldn't it be worst for killers that wouldn't be able to see us at a distance? In proximity it would probably be the same thing since they would hear us cleanse it but from a far enough distance they wouldn't hear us nor see us!

They nerfed ruin because it was being used to much (I believe it was one of the reasons they did it), but then what would happen to iron maiden?

  • You can always search youtube and sort by date, then you just choose for yourself who the good ones are:

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

  • But then the Ruin would stop being High Risk/High Reward to become Low Risk/High Reward so they would all have to be severelly nerfed so... no. I would rather the killer had the choice of were to put ruin.

    – are the Devs proud of her?

Hello all of you people of the fog!

I am a member for quite some time on this forum and read some discussions now and then and I must say I am a huge fan of the community and enjoy a lot of your thoughts on everything that is happening around DbD! That quick shoutout at first.

I thought of opening a new thread around Kate Denson. I main her since I joined and I know a lot of you guys also do. Also I wanted to point out her potential. She is the free songbird with all the hope, this "Nightmare" will all work out somehow and Behaviour made a powerful and great job of integrating her spirit into the Game. But:

    RANT SECTION:

Everytime I see some promotion-stuff, Q&A's, Posters, whatever - I never see her. It is mostly around Claudette, Dwighty, Meg, Nea and the others. I get she is a character that you buy through the store but I think she is one of the most interesting ones. Why is she not used more in promotional artworks?

I just feel she deserves far more attention. And I have the feeling that her newest cosmetics don't quite capture her pure spirit that much. The new Biker Outfit is hella amazing. And I am happy she gets her Cowboy-Hat for the chapter. But what about more stuff involving her? I would love a cute summer dress that captures the purity and for everyone's sake PLEASE fix that little ponytail. ✌️

I know she is not as much played as Nea, Dwight, Feng and all the others maybe. But she deserves better. Really, I think she does. And Behaviour should be proud of all their survivors.

What do you guys think? Am I overreacting much? 😂

I feel you but the reason the others are more present it's because they were the original 4 (Dwight, Meg, claudette and Jake, if i'm not mistaken) and it kind of became DBD "brand" characters.

But yes, Kate is the better looking one with better looking skins. She should be more "praised"!

  • New Lery's look's amazing and what I would expect for all maps because of that "sinister look", but I've noticed that some vault windows are made of briks (below it) wich makes them seem breakable (wich would confirm the breakable window leak), is it for a new killer or a new mechanic?

  • I almost forgot one of the best TV Shows I've ever seen. Can't say it's a Martial Arts one but involves lot of fighting, shooting and sex. The 3rd episode final fighting scene alone is almost worth the all show:

An unnamed ex-convict assumes the identity of Lucas Hood the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he, behind a badge, continues his criminal activities, even as he’s hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier.

Summarizing the first episode, a guy gets out of jail in the beggining of the episode (afer 15 years in, if i remember correctly) and by the end of the episode he is the Sheriff of a town called Banshee.

  • Freddy would attack if they came to his street! Haven't you seen freddy vs jason?

Im not hating on killers but u guys need to admit that survs arnt the only entitled ones in the community. Don't hate me plz

Please allow me to make a small nerf suggestion to your thread title:

  • Martial Arts:

    Warrior is pretty good:

Set against the backdrop of San Francisco's Chinatown in the aftermath of the Civil War, Warrior tells the story of a young martial arts prodigy, newly arrived from China, who finds himself caught up in the bloody Chinatown Tong wars.

Into the badlands (already ended and I liked it a lot, haven't finished it though):

A mighty warrior and a young boy search for enlightenment in a ruthless territory controlled by feudal barons.

Don't know if i can really call a martial arts show but Kingdom is very good (already ended as well):

A retired MMA fighter turned trainer juggles keeping his mixed martial arts gym running and keeping his family united.

^ would agree on raising the BP Cap. Maybe even more than 100k BP per Prestige Level, but currently it is kinda annoying that you can only get to like Level 35 with 100 Mio BPs saved. Which is not even enough to get anything from the Bloodweb Improvements a few patches ago.

Yes, the grinding is a bit frustrating sometimes, but speaking for myself, the grinding is the reason why I play this game a bit more than what I probably would if it wasn't grindy xD

  • @TheNasky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/978284#Comment_978284

no its not. balancing the game is easy. you just have to ignore the whiny rank 15s who cant get good at the game.

look at a game like league of legends. wich is 1000 times more complex than dbd. a game that has skilllevels range from iron 4 (people who are physically/mentaly handicapped or have bad a bad pc/internet) to challenger players (literal prodigys/people who are 1 of a kind/ drug abusers)

now, how is it that a game like that can be balanced and a simple game like dbd cant? easy...

its because devs keep listening to shi1ty players who cant even do skillchecks.

if you are not good at the game, you dont have the right to an opinion when it comes to balance, it is a simple as that. if you think something is too hard just get good. there is no other way to put it. because what devs do by balancing the game aroudn noobs. is making it so everyone who is not bad becomes overpowered, or loses all possible skill expression leading to them losing the game no matter how good they are.

just look at youtubers/streamers who are really good at the game. like literall professionals, yet they still lose a lot of games, just because the ammount of bs killers have to go through is unbearable. because in the end, if you get tunneled as a survivor, you at least could have counterplayed that by not getting hit. wich even tho it could be hard. you can at least do it if you are good enough. on the other hand. if as a killer you lose 5 gens by the time you hooked someone once. what are you supposed to do?

you just lose and thats it. at least you have a chance to facecamp so you keep 1 kill as a consolation price. really nice huh...

League of legends?! Are you seriously comparing a symetrical and competitive game balance to an assymetrical and non competitive game balance?!

Without a competitive ranking system is impossible to properly balance any game by the big amount of "corrupted" data. And being assymetrical makes it even more dificult! Then you are also comparing two companies with a very different financial situation! The financial part isn't the main issue since they could easily raise their player base by correcting the game but they can only do that by making it "competitive". Competitive not like LOL but by making a competitive ranking system were almost everyone would care about rank providing good data from wich they could start balancing the game.

  • Not really, no xD

I'm waiting for the movie xD

  • Well, to reward that prestige level I'm more of a fan of what someone wrote on the forum already and raise the bloodpoints cap. Like 100k bloodpoints per prestige level thus having no limit for that that value. It doesn't really influences the "per game bloodpoint gains" thus not being unfair to people that already got someting like prestige level 10 long ago and would really be helpfull for people that like to save bloodpoints for wathever reason (usualy for new characters releases).

I honestly think that doing what you propose would be a big jump in grinding and since the game relies a lot on grinding, I honestly don't see it happening.

  • @Rin_is_my_waifu said:

Because they get more money from survivors

Nah, if it were that they would want a more balanced game because they would need more killers to lower survivor waiting times. I still think they need the basics fixed before adventuring in changing things like perks further than they already had.

    PS: Rin from Siren?

  • One more thing, I'm actually glad the OP changed the title os the thread because I completly agree with the new one.

    1. Matchmaking system it the base for almost everything that's wrong in DBD (exception being the bugs that is an ALMOSTcompletly independent problem). Let me elaborate a bit:
    2. Without a good matchmaking system it is impossible to have a good ranking system because there will always be (as things are right now) survivors in ranks way above the rank they should be in (and against me I speak). The ranking system can't be fixed because of that, they can never make a good ranking system with survivors being constantly paired up with killers way above their ranking color. Red rank survivors playing against green rank killers will always result in bad statistical data.
    3. Without a good ranking system it is impossible to balance the game. All the balance changes are just supported by the corrupt data stated above and so it will always be a mess because they are balancing the game around data and personal experiences from, AS AN EXAMPLE, bad red rank survivors playing against good green or purple rank killers or, AS ANOTHER EXAMPLE, bad red rank survivors playing against good red rank killers. Then you get average red rank survivors (that in reality should be struggling between rank 5 and 4, like probably the biggest majority of red rank survivors) that get a rank 9 killer and completly smash them and when getting rank 1 or 2 killers are completly smashed by them and complaint that the killers are just too strong!!!

Then the balancing changes arrive correcting those mistakes and it loops back to the 2nd point (the bad ranking system point) and the problems start snowballing. And then they will have to loop back to problem 1 (the bad matchmaking system) and put an even bigger HARD LIMIT, so that people can be paired up to get a game because it will be even harder to play has killer and there will be even less red rank killers. And then even more ENTITLED survivors arrive complaining because they have an easy way going into red ranks and consider themselves great players! When I said above that aginst me I speak, I'm rank 1/2 but comparing myself with many survivors I encounter I should be one of those survivors that should be struggling in purple ranks or even between green and purple. I'm not ashamed of saying this because I can self analyze my skills compared to others and thats how I feel my rank should be and the thing is... I get paired up with red ranks that seem even a lot worse than me but ofcourse (everyone can have a bad game and so I can't confirm if they really are worst or just had a bad game... it happens! But analyzing my skills I can so I assume many other survivors are AT LEAST in the same boat as I am. And those entiled survivors will keep complainting and the changes will keep happening and the snowball will keep growing!

When I get paired up against red rank killers I really struggle to maintain rank let alone pip up! At least I have the decency to recognize that I shouldn't complaint about the killers being too strong because I know that I got to the rank I currently am at because of many matches paired up against a lot less skilled killers!

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/979184#Comment_979184

Yes the survivors all pipped so they were probably all on rank 3 at the start of the match so matchmaking was working as intended.

But a rank 9 Legion having to play four rank 3s, probably SWF and on comms though is just wrong.

Yep, completely agree, like I said in other posts on this thread and that's also why I gave some ideas how it MIGHT help fixing it a bit.

Although I'm a main survivor, I've played more killer recently than usual because of waiting times and I got to purple ranks for the first time. I barely ever get a match against purple survivors... is always red ranks and i feel powerless! Since I'm a main survivor It doesn't hurt me as much as it hurts a main killer because I don't really care about rank as killer (and as survivor as a matter of fact, sincve I already got the steam achievement as survivor, rank means nothing anymore). But I wouldn't like to be a purple rank survivor always facing red rank killers so I understand the frustration!

I see many people say that ranking system needs fixing but in my opininion, it will never be fixed before fixing matchmaking first.

You are very delusional. Own skills? Ok let’s take away dead hard DS and see how great that is..

Although I understand what you mean and at a certain point I agree with you, I just find it funny that you pointed out 2 perks that I never use and I'm rank 1/2.

    The match making system isn't broken . . .

This is the only way they can get players into games, by collecting players of all levels and shoving them into lobbies.

While I agree it is not fun and perhaps unfair to pair players of huge rank gaps into the same lobby . . . How long do you currently wait for a lobby of these mixed ranks (as survivor, killer is nearly instant)?

    3 minutes .

    5 minutes . .

    8 minutes . . .

Imagine if you were to wait for a full lobby of ranks within 1 - 2 ranks of your own.

    15 minutes . . . .

    20 minutes . . . . .

    30 minutes . . . . . .

Yes, it's my opinion that the match making system is NOT broken. And also why there is talk about there no longer being ranks shown on the end game screen with this next update. To hide the very reason why this topic keeps coming up.

As some mention the very existence of SWF ruins match making potential considering there is no rank gap restrictions a rank 1 with a rank 20 should never be matched with a killer as either the killer or the low rank survivor will have an unfair, not fun experience.

    Conclusion . . .

Enjoy the random matchmaking and even when you cannot see ranks anymore know the same kind of match making will continue. Only you won't be able to post screenshots to complain about it anymore.

It will solve their problem of having to listen to your problem. Enjoy the game!

to bad they don't want to fix it, that would require effort, so now they will just hide all ranks so you wont know so you wont be able to complain about it!

I read somewhere that they went back on that decision and they will keep showing ranks at the end of the match. Seems like it is no longer part of the patch notes.

As for waiting times, if they did a rank reset like they did until 2 months ago and then changed as I proposed (killers rank always the same color of highest rank survivor and survivors all of the same color), there wouldn,t be as many red rank survivors as it is now and matchmaking wouldn't take as long as you might think.

Survive with friends is a problem and if at least they did that with swf groups, the red rank survivors paired up with rank 15 or 20 would easily derank because even with coms, the red rank killer would most likely smash them all! As is, you get a rank 2 playing with their rank 15 friends and they do well against a rank 8 killer that might just gotten to rank 8 for the first time and decided to play a certain killer for the first time!
