  • Insidious doesn't say it's undetectable. It just reduces terror radius to 0. But, even if it couldn´t be seen by kindred, if the killer stops for a few seconds (the required for insidious to tack effect), survivors would know, using kindred, that the killer was still there because he would just disappear!

  • I recently got rank 5 and rank 1 killer achievement while starting a match with Kate Denson. Many other survivor characters rewarded those same achievements to other survivor characters. Killers might be afraid that some survivor characters might actually kill them instead.

PS: It's just a joke, no harm intended, I just couldn't resist bringing that up.

I think she's talking about after you kill the keyholder, unless they have certain add ons, once they die any of the other survivors can pick up the key.

But elaborating a bit more. You seem to do that because of piping system. If you facecamp or tunnel the key holder, it will give enough time for the other survivors to complete 4 gens. If the key older dies, there's only the need for 4 gens for the hatch to spawn and the others can find the hatch, pick up the key and leave. In Purple/red ranks, I don't think your strategy holds your safepip if that happens. If you can keep a good amount of pressure and hook all survivors at least once and manage to kill at least one before they can use the key (because 4 remaining survivors need to complete all 5 gens for the hatch to spawn) you can get a lot more points for the pipping system. That's why I really find it weird that some people go for tunneling and facecamping of a key holder. I might be missing something on that strategy, but if the point is to safepip, I really don't think is a good one.

Never said that..but if a perk literally is used to throw games out the window I'd say that's pretty trash..doesn't even block kindred like it's supposed to

Suposed to block kindred? What makes you think that?

  • @Nickeleye said:

I'm guilty of this as a killer. I try and get rid of the key holder as fast as possible. I just have no counter to keys. Im sweating my ass off as a killer nowadays in the current state of DBD. I dont face camp ever but I will tunnel. With a key in the game you can go from in control to de pip real fast.

However, you do know how survivor items work right?

Yeah. Sadly I wasn't recording at the time. Making an effort to learn Demogorgon's game play atm, and my matches have been frustrating to say the least. Gen times are so fast, LOT of toolboxes, so I don't get much time to practice anything with it.

Really salty AF though about this whole thing. I don't mind getting blinded, it's part of the game as irritating as it is, but to get basically stun locked for however many clicks you can get out of a flashlight is pretty trash imo.

Just a small tip anyways, when a survivor is blocking while duck, point the mouse downwards, do the simple m1 press and move the mouse fast to the sides... that usually gets them. I don't have a lot of experience playing killer but that's how I do it and it works but hoppefully experienced killers might have some experience on those situations and might be able to give you better tips.

  • In this situation it would be fun if you waited for the flashlight to deplete (and have recorded the match), and then facecamped. This is a flashlight bug if I'm not mistaken and that was an exploit so a report wouldn't be discharged by the Devs.

  • I actually noticed when they talked about level II of tome 1, the 2 recues at the end. It was actually in level 3 of tome 1.

I have to confess that I fast forwarded parts of the stream (only saw after it had ended) and is very good that you keep this iniciative @Fibijean the information gets easier to search. TY

  • I've got to admitt, this is probably the most enjoyable tread on the forum. Although it's supposedly a toxic movement it was done in such a way that I actually enjoyed reading and for that, I offer myself as a spy too and maybe, who knows... I shall join you on the other side too since bubba is my most played killer.

    cmon, thats just sad.

i hope this kinda stuff is not gonna be affecting the dev data to make doc seem "op" or something like that...

You should be proud, they probably were talking about you and not the doctor: "OP Killer"

  • @Fibijean said:

Right now, a lot of people are doing it not because they want to escape, but because they've finished their challenge and they want to die and move onto the next match as soon as possible.

To be honest, I haven't seen that much since the weekend. But this weekend it was a bit abusive.

PS: I didn't know people had a name for it. Does KOBE stands for something like, are it initials for some frase or something?

  • @ZoneDymo , we get your point, but for what I understood of the OP, he's just talking specifficaly when they do it in your face, like, I'll wait for you to stop what you're doing, move close to me and then try it when you're here.

Doing it when knowing you'll get into second fase or if you're running Deliverance, or even if you immediatly try once the killer leaves the area is no reason to complaint about, but doing it in your face feels like they're moking. We know they're not, they are just trying their luck but is very unfair for someone that tried to go save them, stopping what they were doing and get nothing for it except maybe a heal.

If it happens every now and then I don't even notice it, but when it happens game after game, it feels bad.

  • @Nick said:

Did an influencer hype this up? Whats up with people trying to 4% in your face?

Not only am I leaving my gen to get to you (even if its on the other side of the map) but it also cancels my We'll make it, borrowed time and the unhook bloodpoints and pip points. Can it stop? Because I always turn around and walk away but it also ruins my own game.

True, that's very anoying. I'm also starting to ignore them on the hook when they do that. Very unsportsman like in my opinion.

  • I assume you will get them and only be able to use them once you purchase the characters... that's what makes sense to me but there's nothing like an answer from the devs. They can tell you for sure so:

    @Peanits

    @Almo

    @PatBrutal

  • I got one AFK wraith yesterday, but tought he was just afk and not just letting the computer farm for him. Didn't know they would earn xp while in cloak mode all game. That might become a problem to the game!

Your intentions were good, I'm just looking out for you to make sure everyone doesn't get in trouble for misinformation or getting players hopes up on something that isn't official.

Don't worry about it (if you're), it isn't a big deal.

I understood what you meant, that's why I thanked you for calling it to my attention ;)

  • Why not just make gen times longer when ruin is active to emulate what the old ruin did in a way? Skill checks wouldn't be frustrating for new players, ruin would still serve it's main purpose (early game slow down) and swf wouldn't benefict from it.

Happy facecamping, tunnelling, slugging, playing dirty, and salt Day.

    So... business as usual? xD

  • That would give more power to survive with friends.

    • I Found Ruin.
    • Wait, don't cleanse it just yet, let me just finish this gen that is almost done.

  • GG means Good Game right? So I only say it when I actually feel like it was a good game. I've seen many people invoking GG in vain! xD

  • It was anounced as being just a test. They haven't released any further information regarding that yet.

  • In my point of view (and I'm a main survivor) and since there's really no clear definition of tunneling:

"Tunneling is going after the same person completly ignoring the others, when given the choice to go after another one."

In this case you didn't ignore the other since you hit him first and you weren't given a choice since the unhooked survivor was between you and the rescuer. To the survivor in question you were tunneling because he has a diferent and unreasonable definition of tunneling.

With that said, it doesn't matter, like many people already stated, it all comes down to the situation, you went for the only possible prey (not even the easiest since you, moste likely, wouldn't have time to go around that survivor to hit the other so...).

During the game, if you get late to the hook and see two sets of traking red marks going in oposite directions and you happen to follow the ones from the guy that as just been saved, that isn't tunneling either. I actually consider tunneling a "bad word" or a "nasty tactic" because to me, it implies intention. Not saying it can't be good for a killer to do that, but it is certainly bad for the survivor in question. In the example given in this pharagraph, altough the survivor might feel as being tunneled I don't consider it as such since it was non intentional.

With all this said, tunneling doesn't have a clear defenition and everyone sees it in slight diferent ways with slightly different definitions making it so that tunneling gives room to lots of anger amongst players. Even some people that consider tunneling as going after the same person no matter the situation that made it so, consider tunneling as an exclusively bad thing so like I use to say:

Toxic players will keep being toxic.

No matter what words people come up with, they will always have something to say in order to blame someone else for their failures. That was clearly a comment to try to make you feel bad for what happened instead of just moving along and try to figure out how to avoid it from happening... toxic players are lazy...

Which characters are we talking about? I am assuming the following...

    Jane

    Spirit

Not sure, there are post complainting about it. It's the ones from DLcs that have specific missions for this tome.

  • I don’t think anyone will complaint about the difficulty of the challenges but about what people have already complainted about: some challenges need specific characters that don’t come with the base game. The challenges themselves seem pretty easy.

  • “Hannibal ad portas”

  • Didn’t even know that there was a ds bug and i mostly play survivor. If they took that perk from the game I probably wouldn’t even notice it!

it's taking a long time BECAUSE it mostly affects killers negatively.

bugs affecting killers negatively? low low low priority to fix and will take months, like sound bugs, the lunge on wraith and spirit, etc just to name a few

bugs negatively affecting survivors? ALL HANDS ON FIXING THIS BUG, IT NEEDS TO GET FIXED NOW! that week probably it gets fixed. like the basement glitch, and the new current if you are in madness tier 3 decisive does not work anymore.

BHVR is so survivor biased it is not even funny

In this case specifically, it doesn't affect only killers, it affects everyone. If you search the forum for matchmaking topics, you'll see lots of posts from red rank killers facing low rank survivors so, although it affects everyone (because even as high rank survivor it isn't fun to play aginst low rank killers) it mostly affects new players on both sides because they are constantly being paired up against high rank players.

Speak for yourself. So far all my games have been pretty enjoyable. In fact I had LESS people doing moronic tunneling and camps because of the fact it isn't viable. Many people felt like they could get away with it because of how ruin worked esp. if they hooked someone next to their totem. My only complaint is the existing bugs, some issues with random disconnect while looking for match and doctor's abysmal "chase" music.

I've had that issue several times recently too. Says unable to reach server and goes to the main menu.

  • They already said on others topics about the same subject that they are working on fixing matchmaking. It's been a month (more or less) since the first time I read some dev talking about it so... don't really now why it's taking so long but at least they already talked about that. One of the most recent answers on the subject can be found here:

    @johnmwarner said:

I see post after post, thread after thread made talking about the matchmaking ness right now. Screenshot after screenshot of a rank 12 killer going against all red rank survivor.

Last night as a solo survivor my team was all rank 1-2 and we had a rank 17 trapper... the guy literally got zero downs.

But the devs haven’t made a post or Twitter about it. Haven’t responded about it. In fact I actually saw one hop into a thread about matchmaking and reply to a quote about killer balance (trapper vs Billy,) while completely ignoring the actual thread topic.

So is BHVR dead set against even acknowledging this problem anymore? @Peanits are they all still on Christmas break? What is the plan because it’s not fun to steamroll a killer like that and I can’t imagine it will keep them coming back either.

And please don’t say they’ll learn to get better, the gap between 17 and 1 is way too big for them to be learning much, even with how inflated red ranks have gotten. And if you try to tell them something endgame chat you get accused of being mean somehow.

  • I would really be sad. Not just because of the money spent but also because I really enjoy the game. Unlike most people that expressed their opinion here, I don’t really believe the game will die, at least any time soon.

Devs already said several times thay are working on matchmaking fix. If they actually fix and/or improve matchmaking, I trully believe the game will get in a very healthy state because it can grow a lot from there... but only time will really tell what will happen to it.

  • As survivor, I had longer queue times, yesterday it was really noticable. I've survived more matches than usual. Didn't really got tunnelers nor campers, probably most killers I played against were just trying the new ruin.

Played 2 games as killer for a Daily Ritual, queues were almost instantly like usual and ruin was useless.

Still, I wouldn't give out leaked information since... it could actually get you in-trouble on the forums.

So, that's another thing. Either way, I wouldn't do it in the future if I were you but you can do as you please of course... until you can't (if it's against the rules).

But we'll see what happens, who knows.

Noted... thank you for the information, I won't or at least I will do like @Fibijean said and mention the source. In this case specifically I wasn't really sure about the source but I've checked and yes... it was a leak and not an official information. Sorry about that @Tozaku

  • @FireHazard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1017152#Comment_1017152

Yeah... I wouldn't use leaks as a 100% official source, since than it spreads mis-information like that, even though I know it wasn't intentional on your part.

You can believe what you want to of course, but it's usually best to keep leaks to yourself, since dates always change and leaks are just that... leaks... it's not official information.

Yes, I know, mos of the time they are correct, including the information about the new tome only arriving tomorrow (that one I know I sawe there).

The one about free weekend really don't remember were, since it was information that didn't affect me, but might have been there also. Worst case scenario, if this weekend the game isn't free, I'll give my opinion to the user and it stays here already:

I mostly play solo, I enjoy it a lot and don't really remember getting mad about a bug. Even caught the nasty basement bug once and it didn't bothered me that much... just moved on to another game. But if you can't play it for free, the best advice is to keep watching streams. I advice puppers and vinc3ntVega. The former is very chilled and enjoys the game as it is without constantly complainting about everything and the later is a hell of an entertainer that plays both sides a lot. Both enjoy the game at their own way but don't spend their stream complaining at behaviour decisions... they just try to adapt.

But there is nothing like hands on so, if you can't afford to risk spending money on a game you might not enjoy, I advise you to wait to a free weekend. Even if you need to wait a few months for one to happen, it is worth it if you don't want to risk it.

  • @FireHazard said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1017060#Comment_1017060

It doesn't say anything about it being free from what I could see, at least not right now.

Maybe I missed it, but where did you hear this information from?

Sorry, it might have been on the leaks... I'm constantly checking several sources so I'm not sure were I saw it.

  • Well, I think the free weekend has started, if it didn't it will start soon and last until the 28th I believe... give it a try and decide for yourself ;)

  • I used to get into lockers fast when the killer was in the area (didn't know it notified him) and always got surprised that he found me all the time.

  • It really depends on a lot of factors.

In swf I will probably leave since they understand the reason. It's easier to do it in swf as I would tell them to leave in those situations. Actually, in swf, since I know pre game that they have a challenge or they know in advance that I have a challenge, we just help each other to achieve it.

In solo, it depends on several factors. Am I having an hard time completting the said challenge? Is it my first or second try? Is it a daily ritual or a challenge from the tome? Do I have an idea were the totem might be? Does the ecg has started?

The answers to this questions a others that my come up in the situation will determine my course of action.

  • Welcome to the internet! Good luck on your quest...trust me...you are going to need it!

  • Last month I proposed this in a topic:

"After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, if you are not the last survivor left and no one else gets into the dying state for 40/50/60 seconds, Decisive Strike becomes active if you get into the dying state."

After reading this topic I would propose this (also, would correct the pontuation of my previous sugestion, that I have now realized it wasn't correct and the order it gets written so it's less prone to error):

"After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, for 40/50/60 seconds, if you are not the last survivor left and no one else gets hooked, Decisive Strike becomes active if you get into the dying state. Decisive strike deactivates if you get healed from the dying state or if you become the last survivor. Decisive strike will not activate if you start performing another action or get fully healed."

The phrase in english might not be clear so I will explain what I mean:

Decisive strike would be able to trigger 2 times per match (1 time per unhook).

There would be no time limit for decisive strike, if you get into the dying state, you would be able to to use it if the killer picks you up.

There would be no free escapes at the end as long as you are the last survivor. This could also be changed (Instead of last survivor) to "If the exit gates or the hatch is oppened).

This would force the killer to actually hook the rescuer before hiting the unhooked survivor. BT would probably become pointless so having a time limit to DS after activating might not be that bad.

If a survivor performs an action like healing someone, do gens, open chests, cleanse a totem, unhook someone, etc... it will not activate thus making it only an anti-tunneling perk. The unhook someone is for those cases where there might be 2 survivors hooked and the unhook should be left for the original rescuer. Because if the rescuer does an unsafe hook rescue he will probably be downed while doing it or immediatly after so he would better have BT otherwise the first unhooked person might suffer for it. Instead of that, maybe something like, DS only activates if the unhook is done outside of the killer terror radius or if the killer is at a distance greater than a certain value making so that BT would work to prevent camping and DS to prevent tunneling only.

An insidious killer camping would have to be aware of BT and DS. A camper would have to deal with BT, since it's hard to know (programming wise) if a killer is camping or if the unhook was just unsafe and DS would be punished by unsafe hook rescues. A tunneler would be punished by DS.

The point is, DS should only prevent tunneling and Borrowed time prevent camping.

EDIT: An insidious camper would actually only have to deal with DS.

I think you are the one who doesn't understand. I keep saying that you have to be careful when interpreting the stats, they are just averages. But even those averages can tell a lot. Sometimes it is enough to draw a general conclusion. You can see what maps are killer or survivor sided, which side wins more games.

What really baffles me is when people say that stats are worthless in general or try to question the way they were acquired to try to invalidate them.

That's exactly what most of us is saying!!! And we are saying the data for helping pointing in the right direction of were the real balance problem lies is worthless because it is gathered from an unbalanced source (the games itself). You can't put a top division top team playing against a college team and say the field they played in doesn't matter at all because the top division team massacred the college team both times! The game itself would be so unbalanced that you can't draw that conclusion. No one said that the stats they have are completly wortless, no one said they didn't know what they are doing in terms of balancing.

Everyone knows something need to be done and it will always be necessary to keep balancing the game. What we are saying (probably in words that seems you don't like) is that the stats can be a great source of information in, at least, pointing in the right direction to check were the real unbalance problems lies and guess what, the game might not even need balancing!!! Yes, I said it! We don't really know because, in my case, I keep piping most of my matches because most of my matches are against low rank killers and keep struggling to keep pip against my own rank killers let alone pip when playing against them. We just don't know because the matchmaking and piping system is flawed and so the data that comes from those matches results can't really help.

You can't nerf, lets say, Bubba because he gets 4k 80% of the time (is just an example). But how many of those times there were red rank killers playing against rank 10 survivors that started playing 1 or 2 weeks ago? Fortunatly, the devs use the data in a correct way by only using it to point on the right direction and then try and figure out, by other means, what is really happening there but if they had a reliable source of information by considering only matches were all players are the same rank (that actually they might have a filter for that) it would point them in the right direction more often. But even with a filter for that, if matchmaking system were less flawed, the data collected for it would be greater. The reallity is that no one knows what really happens behind the courtains and how they filter data. But we all know that the reliable data (data that can be used to point in the right direction of balancing the game) is a lot less than what it could be thus making lots of data being irrelevant for game balancing despite the fact that they might filter that data or not.

Oh my god... Ok, where do we start...

First of all the most obvious part. As I said, all stats except for "Red ranks killrate" don't depend on ranks or skill, because it's an average for ALL games. So, whether DEVs filtered out rank 1 vs rank 10 games doesn't matter AT ALL.

Next. Ranking is meaningless and I never said it was, it was you who tried to invalidate stats with "rank 1 vs rank 10 games were not filtered out" argument.

If you assign different ranks to players, it will not change the overall stats in any way, just the "red ranks killrate". So, you argumentation is wrong whether ranks are meaningless or not.

My opinion on ranks is, DEVs must split ranks into "season rank" and "skill-based rank". But it's a totally different topic.

I don't think you fully understood what is being discussed here in terms of statistical data and that is confirmed by your last phrase because that's exactly what we are discussing here. The topic is about balancing the game and you can't balance a game based on statistical data provided by unbalanced matches. And thye kill rate is one of the most important data provided by statistics to help balancing the game (individual killers kill rate, maps where there are more kills, etc...) so on your second paraghraph...

"First of all the most obvious part. As I said, all stats except for "Red ranks killrate" don't depend on ranks or skill, because it's an average for ALL games."

...you just proved my point... that's what we are discussing...

And we are not just talking about statistics they provived, we are talking about any statisc that is taken in consideration to balance the game. With the amount of unbalanced games those statistics come from, makes those statistics useless for it.

You don't get raw data in scientific articles with stats, yet science somehow manages to create new technologies that work. You can question them too, if you want. Asking DEVs for raw data for the stats... that's interesting. And then you will question the raw data and ask for game replays. At the end it boils down to whether you decide to believe something or not. Usually people don't believe because stats don't fit their own experience, because people forget that stats show AVERAGE numbers.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1006522#Comment_1006522

What you said is only theoretically relevant for Red Ranks killrate. But we all know ranks mean nothing in this game, they get reset and even a potato can get to rank 1, provided he plays enough during a month. So, people with different skills are mixed up in red ranks games anyway.

All other stats are unaffected by what you wrote, I hope I don't have to explain why? Those are averages across ALL ranks.

??? Are you kidding? You just confirmed my point in a way that seemed that you were trying to disaprove it! That's exactly what we are trying to get at! Ranking system is meaningless so why have it in the first place if they are not taking advantage of it to balance the game?

I'm sorry, but I can't defend your argument nor most of their graphs, there was no comunication about what info they used to generate them, so we don't actually know (except for some obviously clear ones) how they made them.

But talking about maps, they did say they didn't count matchs with DCs in them, and counting kills per match per map is not something that complex, they took all kind of kills in this specific data, regardless of mori or sacrifice, but taking away from the data games with even 1 DC. That's good info for me in this specific subject...

    @_VTK_ What do you think?

Do they take out the games were a rank 10 killer plays against rank 2 and 3 survivors? Do they take out the games were rank 1 killers play against rank 10 survivors?

That's why @YaiPa says, and rightfully so, that the data from statistics is badly acquired.

Before matchmaking gets fixed, they can't fix piping system because they will always use data from very unballanced matches, and before they can balance the game (maps, perks, killer habilities) they have to fix ranking system first so... it all comes down to fixing the source of all the problems first: Matchmaking.
