They probably got told "Nobody says anything until the dev Q&A."
This is a major change that has annoyed a lot of people who enjoy abusing the most broken killer in the game, and it's probably best to not risk saying anything until the devstream Q&A which is basically scripted.

+1. I am so tired of talking about how the perk acquisition system is so broken in this game.
I'm just frustrated that of the infinite ways they could have reduced the grind, they picked the one way that seems as malicious as possible, to dangle what you want in front of you then make it impossible.

And having a guaranteed 1-hit spray isn't?
Oh, ok.
A. It's not a one hit.
B. It requires survivors making the decision to cleanse in the first place.
C. You already have to walk halfway across the map to get the buff (if the survivors are smart) which uses up a lot of the duration.
ONE STUN should not remove a buff that takes A LOT to get in the first place.

It's intended, it's just dumb.

And Poised, less reliable but fairly crippling to her when it goes off.

Escape/Kill.
If you die to noed, I don't give a ######### how many gens you got done. You didn't do totems which was a part of securing your objective, knowing that a perk like noed exists. If you choose to rush through the most basic part of getting out without considering other risk factors, then you have as much fault in your own death as someone who does no gens.
-
I don't tend to tunnel very actively, so if I get hit with a random DS it's not the biggest deal.
If you run at me and try to bodyblock chases and ######### cos your get-out-of-jail-free card is ready to go? I won't camp you, but you better believe you aren't making it out.
-
It's just like Plague getting 50 add ons that only affect Corrupt Purge.
Like ######### load of good that ######### does when you have matches where nobody cleanses.
-
"4. Reappearance on survivors side chase power NERF"
You mean "Being able to bodyblock and hit survivors when you haven't even appeared to them yet? Yeah, that bullshit needed to be fixed.
-
"For a killer to gain a buff in a time pressured game, they should have to randomly search the map for a tiny fountain that can be in the middle of nowhere."
How bout no.
-
I'll be honest I find Billy and Nurse are the hardest to learn to play against. It isn't even so much about their strength as it is the variance of players. There's no middle ground. Either you get someone you can run around to the point of being sad, or you get someone who can crush you in 10 seconds or less.
There never seems to be a medium skill level player on them to be able to practice what works and what doesn't.
Billy usually just feels more like a coin toss, either you guess right, or you don't and BLAM chase over.

Yeah, just yesterday I had a match with three Rank 4 survivors and one Rank 16 on our team. The killer was Rank 2 and ebony mori'd him in under a minute... 😭
Hopefully they fix that soon because that is a huge rank difference, even if it was swf...
There just isn't really a way to balance it.
You either end up with a severely low rank survivor, or killer, even taking an average can put people drastically apart.
The current system is the best possibility as it SHOULD only be a detriment to people choosing to play with people way above their rank.

i play a survivor and i feel as though the game benefits killers too much ill give a few examples
- downing someone with one shot. they're down to the ground from a singular shot. ruins the fun for a survivor big time, basically just a killers game at that point,
- 2. cant recover on the ground without help. once you're down thats it. if someone else is down too you're finished,
- killer using offerings that overrides survivor offerings. for example my cat tingling sense offering is over ridden all the time and the killer is just there with no warning, if they have an offering that overrides it then its useless to a survivor
- warning music starts waayyy too late now.
- using weapons to kill not hooks. in my opinion this shouldn't be a part of the game, ruins the fun completely and destroys what the game is about , how can you survive if they just kill you on the spot giving no opportunity to be rescued?
- being able to see exactly where someone is on the map . ive had a killer put a survivor on a hook not even close to me and ive been in the basement already in a cupboard yet he comes all the way to the basement and to the exact cupboard, no offering should give a player that much advantage
and those are my examples .
- As others have said killers are balanced around their ability to one hit down. Your later example of Ghostface downing in one hit is only possible if he is standing near you watching you for a significant time, you are then given a warning that you are "exposed." (Can be one hit downed.)
- Inability to recover is so that downs can be used tactically, hooking isn't always the best option, and if survivors could always pick themselves up, there'd be no choice in how to play, every down would have to go straight to a hook.
- Those are perks, offerings are the ones that pick a map, or increase your bloodpoints for the match. The only thing in the game that counters Spine Chill is Michael Myers in his slow stealthy form he starts the match in, this is actually being changed next patch in a week or two. There are many interactions between survivor and killer perks, killer ones counter survivor ones, and survivor ones counter killer ones. It's just part of the balance of the game.
- The warning music is based on the killer. Generally it's 32m. If a killer has a mobility power, they generally move a little bit slower but have a smaller terror radius, 24m. It can be adjusted by some perks, and killers who are in a stealth mode won't have it, you'll only get warned if they come out of stealth or start a chase with you.
- Moris are poorly balanced, it's one of the hot topics at the moment and will probably get looked at. You at least need to be hooked once or have all gens done for them to work at least.
- Aura reading exists on both sides. As a survivor you can block it by hiding in a locker before it starts, or by using the perk "Distortion." You can also fake out killers by running one way, then changing after the reading ends. The most common perk for aura reading is BBQ and Chilli which grants reading for 4 seconds after a hook, so it's a good idea to get in a locker when you see the killer pick up the downed survivor. Only stealth killers can block aura reading from survivors.

Pretty good rank reset, I was rank 2 before reset and in next game a get two rank 20 into my team without perks and with 0.1 and 1.1 hours play-time.
Matchmaking serving for these survivors really hard early times in dbd, because killer was gf with all perks.
Show them some respect, Rest in Peace.
Shouldn't happen without someone bringing them as SWF, meaning they were paired with someone your level anyway, since rank 2 resets to 6 or 7 which shouldn't match with 20 in almost all cases.
Not that it isn't an issue, but this doesn't have anything to do with rank reset.
-
Keeping stealth as a consistent mechanism between killers is healthier for the game.
Spine Chill and Premonition ONLY exist to help against stealth killers, and there's no reason one of them should be immune to them.
They also aren't prominent enough to ruin games for Myers even when they're in them, it just means a survivor's perks work. Either you leave tier 1 a few seconds into a match, or you're running a mirror build where neither one really gives them much of an edge anyway.
-
Jesus, the ones in the Preschool give me nightmares. That whole downstairs could really use a rework to add ANY sort of chase potential to those hallways rather than just "pallet = win."
-
From past achievements, as long as it is POSSIBLE, no matter how improbable or insanely difficult, it won't be changed.
Just look at Left For Dead.
IIRC it's difficult to get some platforms to change achievements so as long as there's still the tiniest chance it could happen they won't touch them.

I am not in favor of someone DCing to shut off someone else's Obsession perk, buuuuuuuuuuut on the other hand, this is a pretty classic case of "cutting off your nose to spite your face," and I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider this a profitable scenario for OP.
Except it's Plague. She doesn't do well in rank nor in bloodpoint gain. A single DC at the start of the match can easily be a depip for the killer, and gives you even shittier points. There's no fun to be had in a game like that.

Advertising for games they're not involved in is typically exactly what in-game adverts are all about, because the game developers get paid ad revenue by the developers of the advertised game. But it's typically a feature of free-to-play games because that's their main source of income. So there might be a place for it in the mobile version of DBD, but there's no real reason to include such a feature in the paid PC/console edition of the game.
Yeah well they aren't exactly against using f2p methods of money making up to now.

Its not a ######### YOU its a reward for devoted players.
If you arent supporting the game then you will miss out on some. I am sad i missed out on some sea of thieves exclusive gear but its my fault i missed it. And at the same time i were there when there were some cool items and I now have bragging rights.
That is fun. That is a reward for the players who actually care. If you want the skin then play til u get it. Rift skins should be exclusive and event skins too I think.
It isn't about being devoted or not, it's just about finding the game earlier. Hell, DBD is barely advertised anywhere, the biggest attention it's got has been Stranger Things, that doesn't mean people who join later won't be just as devoted as any player now, just that they'd be punished for not playing it right now.
Exclusives are just a terrible concept in general, and there's no value in them except to lord it over people who don't get the chance to have them.
-
I've been basically playing nothing but Plague for a few months now.
She's really solid, I'm hitting consistent 3-4ks in the red ranks. (That said it's Plague so 3-4k is still a safety pip even when you hit 32k bloodpoints) And I'm playing with no add ons at the moment.
Halving chases is really strong, any way you look at it, and when thana and dying light stack up it buy you a lot of time.
-
Nope. There's no reason for something like skins to leave people out.
It's such an arbitrary punishment for people who pick up the game. "Hey, welcome to the community, ######### you for not playing earlier!"

If it's such a non-issue then why are you against changing it back?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/754072#Comment_754072
I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm not freaking out or crying about this; I'm complaining in a calm and respectful manner about what I see as an unnecessary change.
Michael doesn't NEED this trait, but it was cool, not OP, and I haven't seen that many people complaining about it.
I get trying to make the game more understandable for new players, but doing so at the expense of what makes certain Killers unique just seems like a bad idea to me.
Because having one normalised stealth buff is just better for the game overall, no random exceptions to what is and isn't stealthy, or one killer who randomly trumps perks specifically designed for anti-stealth, moreso than aura reading which is as much an information tool.
If every killer that is "stealthy" is just undetectable in the same way every time, it just makes for a more straightforward game.
-
This isn't a huge nerf. Spine Chill has a small cult following but it's hardly top meta.
The odds that you get a whole 4 survivors running it are astronomically low. It doesn't matter that 1 or 2 people might have a perk that can make your game a little harder, it's only tier 1, that's gone like 10 seconds into a match anyway, or you're running scratched mirror and it doesn't really matter if they know you're nearby, they still have no clue where.
This doesn't need to be changed back because it will have such a tiny, minor impact overall that you won't even care a week after the patch.
-
I've seen games do it tastefully before, like a button in the store tab that says "click here to watch ads for cells" so I have to look for it to find it, it isn't pushed on me.
That said, what would BHVR advertise there, as most of those spaces usually get filled with ######### mobile games nobody is dumb enough to touch, and since BHVR isn't exactly overflowing with other titles, they'd basically be advertising competition.
-
I agree with others. I never run Insidious because it does nothing for a decent player. At best you can hide your terror radius by standing still but that really isn't getting you anywhere. It only serves to reward people who want to camp and that isn't something to be encouraged.
It MIGHT be good on Freddy because they think you teleported and go back to where you're waiting, but that won't work on sleeping survivors, so all synergy is gone.
-
They're only minor problems for me, survivors getting hit with vomit do the animations and grunts but don't get infected sometimes, it's odd. Other than that perfect speed, no more survivors blaming lag.
That said there's a new reverse pallet vacuum, where a survivor runs through a pallet and keeps running, so you react accordingly and keep chasing/go for a hit, but then they suck a few meters backwards into the pallet drop animation and you can't possibly dodge it. Really frustrating.

Seems fine to me, you just need to be quicker, as the entire "Reveal behind walls" is actually no glitch, but a game mechanic. It takes 1.5 seconds to look at Ghost Face to reveal him.
While being looked at, he goes into a "Discerned" state. And there is a 0.3 timer to go from "Discerned" to "Out of Sight". It's 2 little sub-states that was never mentioned in the power, but exists in the game files.
Meaning, if Ghostface is seen for longer than 1.2 seconds, it's too late.
That's true, but there's still certainly bugs with it. I've glanced at him before for a fraction of a second, then had the entire sound play out while behind a wall and he gets revealed. This isn't stare at him and it just happens to reveal him in time, it certainly works through walls for long durations on occasion.

Not a fan at all. The big swollen lumps on her just don't look good, and the fat neck is enough to stop the head piece working with other cosmetics.
That said I'd never want a Spirit item that uses her awful default hair anyway.

Barely, 20% is almost nothing added onto walking speed. You still want to run places, and Sprint Burst still stops you from doing that.

According to the OP, 2700 shard perks reward more BPs per shard than 2000 shard perks.
However, unless you have all the perks, characters and cosmetics you want already and nothing better to do with your shards, I wouldn't recommend using the Shrine as a converter because it would be a waste of your shards. In terms of the time it takes to get 2000 shards compared to several hundred bloodpoints, the two are nowhere near being equal in value.
Which isn't a difficult point to reach, just owning DLC pretty much does it, since nothing GOOD is ever in the store for shards.
-
"C. If she waits, you gain an absolute TON of distance. And she still, may not even catch up."
It's 0.5 meters different to now.
Seeing people trying to justify keeping Nurse as broken as possible is just hilarious at this point.
-
I'm seeing an issue in Plague games which has happened multiple times now.
When chasing a survivor as they turn a corner, puking directly on them causes the puke to splash on them and they make the grunts and animation as though it has hit, but then they are not infected.
-
@phantasmal said:
Nah. I was here when the first shrine released and only one perk cost 750 on that one. If that's a thing then it was change I wasn't aware of.
Also, we do def get new DLC perks. The very first shrine itself had one from the latest DLC, Halloween. Ruin appeared in the Shrine just ~2 weeks after it was released.
If you don't see any new DLC perks in the shrine nowadays that's because there are over 100 possible candidates and only four slots.
Ok, so years ago we might have, we've been having 2700 perks nearly weekly for at least the last year without it being from the most recent DLC.
-
Yes, if you buy a perk at 2000 shards, each shard is worth 75 points. If you buy one at 2700 shards, each shard is worth 92.5.
That's a 20% reduction in value if they've just arbitrarily removed the new perk bonus.
-
@Mochan said:
Why is this something to compain about?
I see it as a win.
I just grabbed Discordance from the Shrine for 2,000. I'm happy I didn't have to pay 2,700 for it.
Because for a huge amount of people the shrine is to convert shards into bloodpoints, and reducing how many the perks give is a massive reduction in that.
-
@phantasmal said:
Uhmm, you misunderstand why some perks cost 2700. It's not because they show up the first time but rather because they are from the latest DLC.
Currently that means the perks introduced in the Stranger Things DLC. For the prior 3 months it'd have been Ghostface's perks. And before that it was Ash's stuff.
It's actually always been the first time a perk shows up on the shrine. We NEVER get perks on the shrine from the most recent DLC.
-
It would also prevent easy gen grabs with Prayer Beads by using collision to work out which side they're on.

I sort of get that, but it depends on how you define unfair. Asymmetrical games are unfair almost by definition, so whether or not something 'feels' unfair depends, I think, largely on perspective. Most of the time those things don't bother me too much to be on the other side of, because I consider the absurdity of it to be all part of the fun. Which is not to say I don't have more fun with an ordinary, well-matched game most of the time, but occasionally I think things like keys and moris and instas can add a bit of flavour to the game.
I guess the best way to describe it is that I have a similar affection for OP addons in DBD to that which many players hold for ridiculous-looking bugs in Skyrim. Would Skyrim be an objectively better-designed and more polished game if you didn't fly into the stratosphere when hit by a giant? Sure, but you would lose something of the game's character by removing that bug. It's not a perfect comparison, but that's more or less how I feel about instas, moris and keys in DBD, and why I consider it a net loss for them be be heavily nerfed or removed.
The difference is Skyrim is a solo game, when things are game-breakingly strong there's nobody on the other side having their game ruined by it.
Especially once you get to higher ranks where nearly every game has an insta heal, it isn't "fun" to have something OP on a rare occasion, it's just the norm that there's always something oppressive to play against.
-
It was never stated in patches, but for quite a while now it seems to be every game starting with all 4 players together.
It's CONSISTENT as killer that if you just head for the furthest gen from where you start there's multiple people on it, almost done with Prove Thyself usually.
It's been great as Plague though, go to one gen and everyone's already sick.
-
Because Free-to-play doesn't mean "Pay once to play" it means free.
Two prime examples of this are:
Dota 2, which uses many of the same money making strategies as DBD, but never impacts the actual gameplay in any way by paying money. A player can go from day 1 to thousands of hours without paying a cent, and never be at any sort of disadvantage to a paying player and never be missing any gameplay content.
Warframe, where everything is free besides cosmetics. Money CAN be spent on a premium currency, but playing the game a very small, reasonable amount of time can let you trade for the currency to never need it. Again, all content is available to all players, nothing is restricted to someone who has never spent money. IT IS FREE TO PLAY.
Something like DBD is certainly not free to play, first it costs money to access the game the first time, already disqualified. THEN 1/2 of the game is locked behind obscene grinds, and a further 1/4 of it MUST be paid for to access it at all. On top of that they now run cosmetic stores and battle passes that are common money making methods for games that do not profit from an initial purchase or subscription, when their total game cost is already in the hundreds of dollars.
-
Buying the pass basically refunds if you play enough, you can spend that same 1000 cells on an outfit for whoever you like. Anything you gain from the rift rewards is purely bonus, including charms that are universal.
If they had to make it limited to sides or characters it'd mean making ten times as much content just to fill up the options for everyone, and locking players out of 90% of the content based on what they pick.
It just isn't feasible.
-
Moris and keys should probably be reworked alongside each other, both pretty equally unfairly end the game early for one side with little to no counterplay.
-
I like that some charms will be exclusive as they're a tiny detail to show that you participated, and let you be a bit more custom, but something large and significant like full outfits are always available to everyone.
It's much more fair, and doesn't rub a big middle finger in new players' faces just for not playing the game at a certain time.
Of course people will still cry if they can't get a specific charm, but it's a tiny detail, compared to always missing something like Huntresses wolf mask.
-
It's a great change, really makes things more consistent with less completely random effects ONLY for T1 Myers.
Trading Spine Chill/Premonition working on him for no terror radius and no need for M&A in a t1 mirror build is pretty awesome.
-
It depends how you define "Viable."
- Viable - Able to be played and experience moderate levels of success (2k+) on a regular basis. By this definition, no, obviously not,
- Viable - Able to be played and experience high levels of success based on the player's skill, almost regardless of opponents. By this definition, no, most players can show they perform in red ranks with a killer they practice enough.
- Viable - Able to go into every match expecting to win, completely disregarding the opponents entirely. Yeah probably.
-
