JAWS ?!

@Demogordon_Ramsay said:
Yeah, the MMR is working wonderful. After match upon match of getting grey ranks, yellow ranks, and literal new players after 10 minute queues, suddenly the system decided "ok so you must literally be a god" and now I only get matched against SEAL Team 6 Twitch.tv SWF groups with more coordination than actual SEAL Team 6 that I literally have no chance of ever beating.
It's great, really. But at least the queue times dropped to 5 minutes.
This is literally my experience, over the past 3 days I've got nothing but 15-20 rank survs (I am rank 1). Now in the last day or so I get all rank 1 survivors with 4 BT, UB, AD, DS, etc etc. Master loopers all on comms. Had probably 4-5 games in a row like this.

If you are going to run a hex build you need to run Hex: Thrill of the Hunt to make the others stronger and give you notifications. These builds get even stronger on killers like Hag, Trapper, and Demo. I used to do:
Hex: TotH
Hex: Ruin
Hex: Devour Hope
Hex: Huntress Lullaby
It forces two totems done to be able to do gens unless they are really good.

I just played a game where I am a rank 1 1,200 hour killer ..... i kill this Bill and notice he is rank 20 with no perks equipped. I asked how long he has been playing....
Forty-Five Minutes.

My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns hun! You can do side bends or sit ups but please don't lose that butt...

@Midori_21 @emptyCups @MigrantTheGreat so many posts like these, essentially the nature of these posts is a request for information. Better to think on these things:
1) They don't owe you, or anyone, an explanation.
2) They are not going to come onto the forums and verbally joust with people like they need to justify their decisions, it's their game.
3) Asymmetrical games need to be thought of like a large sliding scale of balance between survivor and killer. I'm sure the needle did not start in the exact middle and as years come and go and new content is made they continually adjust that needle as they see fit. They look at the big picture, we often look with biased eyes.
4) The quicker you can mentally and emotionally come to grips with #'s 1-3 the less stress and more enjoyable this .... and many other things in life will be.
-
“Can the pot say to the potter, why have you made me this way?”
Modern Translation: they have every right to change this game at any time for any reason, it’s their game. They owe you zero explanation.
Rational meaningful discussions sometimes get answered but we the players have to abide by whatever route they choose. Man-tantrums get ignored.
-
@ErksDeciple better idea:
when you queue as a duo you get to use just 3 perks each, 2 perks for 3 man swf and 2 perks for the dreaded 4 man swf.
survivors that are playing together have an icon next to their character in lobby.
(I’m rank 1 survivor and rank 1 killer)
-
More like:
Community: <in a petulant unappeasable child-whine voice> make the game the way I, myself, think it should be because it's all about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Devs: <Takes an indy game and adds x4 the content, killers, maps, survivors, events.>
Community: but you didn't change XYZ to be the way iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii like it! Coding is so easy I heard, just put more resources to it DUH!!!!
Devs: we actively squash bugs while still making new content and cosmetics, those teams are actually separate.
Community: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
-
Post sounds like a thinly veiled threat (I’m going to Mori everyone) wrapped inside a barely restrained tantrum.
-
@BadMrFrosty i care, when you get to your next game and then it happens again, then again.
i know they track DCs so please keep doing it so it gets turned back on. And yes BHVR has the right and ability to punish actions else it’s the inmates running the asylum.
-
Leatherface tweaks could be as easy as: make his speed 96% while charging, make him unstunnable at pallet if he is swinging, Lower tantrum to 3 seconds, and make it so he can chainsaw people hiding in lockers. His add ons need reworked.
-
The killers you play range from not very good to a little above average. If you truly want easier chases and quicker downs then I suggest investing in spirit, nurse, billy, or freddy. I don't know your rank but a good team of red ranks, especially if they are on comms, will dismantle most of these killers.
-
1) He does not slow down when placing traps, uncommon for trap killers (hag, trapper).
2) His add ons slow down gen progression when in dream world (if you haven't noticed gen speed bothers some killers).
3) He can teleport (or fake out) to gens which solve the mobility issue of maps (hello BBQ + PGTW!).
4) His nursery rhythm sound is only when in dream world and that is at 24m, closer than 32m.
5) He's a little smaller than other killers.
-
He’s a strong killer .... and survivors do not like that.
-
@Carpemortum Not really salty, I am a little too old for childish banter and name calling. I play both sides quite a bit and even with the challenges 96% done it has still been a MASSIVE GRIND.
All I am saying is that for whatever reason people are vastly underestimating the time they are putting in. Could be for a variety of reasons; top ones that come to mind: teenagers or 20-somethings with a lot of free time on their hands, not really keeping track of time and 4 hours felt like two, fanbois, etc...
-
Calling bullcrap on everyone @Mister_xD @Yogerman1997 etc who acts like they play super casual and somehow capped it with 2-3 weeks to go. You guys are playing at least 40 hours a week.
During COVID I have been playing 25+ hours a week @Milo and each tome level I only have 1-2 challenges left (mainly because I do not own the killer/survivor) ..... I'm rank 60.
Here is the reality .... RIFT WILL TAKE YOU 150-250 HOURS TO COMPLETE BASED ON:
1) If you do ALL the challenges, the less you do the closer to 250 hours.
2) Rank/queue times, don't forget the 1 to 5 minutes you sit in lobby waiting. This "real life" time counts.
3) Skill/luck/farming matches/DCs/etc
-
BHVR has given you the answer my friend, it is called: Spirit, Billy, Nurse, or Freddy
(rank 1 killer, rank 1 survivor)
-
These “I play DbD a few matches a night and a little on the weekends and I’m tier 70 by the time tome 4 came out” statements are utter bullcrap.
Covid has afforded me time to play 25+ hours a week for 4+ weeks and I’ve demolished 95% of tome 1, 2, and 3. I’m like 56.
If you include wait time for matches aka real life time I would say on average to get to tier 70 is something close to 150 hours (providing you do 80% plus of the challenges.)
Some of these players are simply not realizing they are investing 40+ hours a week for multiple weeks to be done by now.
I have something I do for 40 hours a week.... it’s called a job.
-
Rifts can DEVOUR 80+ hours (includes the time waiting for a match) and still not cap it.
I have been playing 20+ hours a week due to covid and I am at rank 52. Massive time suck.
The real reason: $$$$$$ 💰 MONEY 💰 $$$$$$
-
When the game came out it was 80% survivor sided 20% killer but over the years it has swung closer to 50/50.
Truths about this game you MUST ACCEPT OR GO NUTS PLAYING IT:
1) The map you play and the killers power (especially mobility killers) has a big effect on outcome, all things being consistent.
2) At the highest ranks good survivors are in the power role, especially if you have a bad map/killer.
3) any team on comms is going to have a significant advantage over you. They essentially get 8-10 perks for free.
-
Haha @tippy2k2 okay Bush
-
1) Last Man Standing - where there are no gens or exit gates. Survivors compete with each other for BP objectives while killer tries to kill them all. Bronze, silver, gold, iri ranks. Perks and in game interactable objects revolve around decoys, traps, and ratting out teammates in order to get ahead. Could make this 4v1, 5v1, 6v1 etc only reward top 3 or 4 place.
2) Invader - survivors who escape a trial have the option to risk some or all their BPs to be hot dropped into a game in progress (4+ gens remain). They and all survs and killer gets a BP boost. They glow and have a unique icon in the bottom corner. Killer gets an advantage buff like haste, blindness on survs, etc.
-
His power is hard countered by pallets, vaults, lockers; changes I would recommend:
1) chainsawing a locker with someone in it downs them and they spill out onto the ground.
2) increase his movement speed while revving slightly.
3) Reduce tantrum to 2-3 seconds
4) Allow him to end his swinging early by pressing m2 again (the number of times you catch 2 survivors “out in the wild” is exceedingly rare.)
5) when in chainsaw animation swinging you cannot be stunned by a pallet and always break it (currently a well timed drop can still stop you)
6) rework his addons completely.
-
At higher ranks the game is more balanced and you see a lot more diverse killer base.
Once you get below rank 7 or so the good survivors have mastered looping, pallets, flashlights, vaults, etc. At that level a strong team of 4 can torment and just harass most killers.
This in turn drives most killers to play one of the more mobile killers who’s power helps stop some of that harassing. This is why most matches at red are against spirit, billy, Freddy.
-
@JasonS I see your point and I agree.
Perhaps just removing perk tiers is the answer, there are already so many in game that if you managed to run out before you get to 50 you just get add ons and offerings.
-
I have 6 p3-50 killers that I keep "topped off" on perks. When I see a new one I want in the weekly store I use shards to just buy it then unlock it for each of them. Feels more low maintenance that way.
For survivors I have 3-5 that are level 40 to unlock their stuff and I've bought perks with shards. I have 1 p3-50 survivor that I use and that is it.
-
@Carlosylu most rank 1 killers even the good ones lose 1 out of 5 games (lose defined by 3+ surv escaping). It's just game design and you run into 4 man swf that are just unstoppable ... having the optimal killer and a killer favored map can help this a bit.
Okay, now on to ranks. They are less a function of a color/number but rather it's how easy or difficult it is to progress through those ranks. As a rank 1 surv and killer myself I can say with certainty that getting my surv to rank 1 each reset is much less pressure and in general very easy.
That's asymmetrical games for you though, the killer can only come after one person at a time. As killer it's all on your performance ... hence that is why I, with few exceptions, don't see but much variety but the same 4-6 killers over and over at red ranks.
-
As killer when I get curb stomped in a match (rank 4) I’ve had survivors tell me about 7 times to “get dicked on” whatever that means. Or “rekt”.
had a survivor tell me “didn’t know you could buy red rank killer accounts” after they got four escaped with me playing infinite EW 3 Myers.
got to love it
-
I’m a rank 1 survivor (pipping is very easy with survivor) and just got to rank 4 killer (hag, huntress, Myers, Bubba) and the matches are starting to get brutal.
@LustForBP have you had any of this happen:
object of obsession with flashlight - I could literally not catch this person. First chase just quit after 20 seconds and two pallet stuns plus blinded (only 15 pallets left on map!)
had them unhook in your face, bodyblock then someone head ons you.
2 gens get done in about 65 seconds.
had this match recently, they all escaped and it didn’t even seem hard. I think I got 2 maybe 3 hooks total. They were all on comms rank 1-2. Playing as hag so I was slower, they just ran through my traps 360s, teabags, flashlights, DS, sprint bursts, adrenaline, pallets galore.
i almost dc’ed but stuck it out. It felt like I was in 3rd grade and 4 8th graders were toying with me. Like a cat plays with a mouse. So much for being a killer.
these ranks really force you into playing like 5 killers only (some claim to rock face with m1s but unless you got mobility a team like this will destroy you)
people say these kinds of players are rare but rank 1-3 is where they live so I run into it about 25% of the time.
-
Just played against an elite 4 man yesterday ..... Im a rank 1 survivor and rank 4 killer.
it was pretty brutal, one had object of obsession and a flashlight. Could not be caught.
meanwhile they destroyed my totems, knew just when to save, do gens etc.
all four escaped right in front of my face with body blocks and teabagging. It wasn’t a challenge it was a joke to them (all rank 2-3)
for a moment I almost DCed but I just powered through. I keep some names on a list next to my PC. When I see them in lobby I wait until timer gets low then leave. As killer I have been getting games fast.
-
@Lanterns It’s honestly a must have below rank 8; few killers can perform well at that level without it. They usually are running a top tier killer to not have to use it. I’m a rank 5 killer.
Before ruin I seldom got to rank 10; now I’m never over rank 7 or so. The day I equipped it I won a lot more.
It forced survivors to try for a second objective. Slowed the game down. Great for no map pressure killers.
Throw Thrill of the Hunt on there if you want to double down on hex perks. It takes them longer to cleanse it and you will get a notification it’s being worked on. I’ve seen whole teams practically suicide on the totem because they won’t let it go once they find it.
lol at @Waffleyumboy post which reads like “I’m awesome, but if you have no skill and suck, run ruin”.
-
A lot of the videos here show idiot red ranks. I see a few things that good red ranks do that totally shut down Bubba:
1) just window vault
2) they dive in a locker forcing you to either try a grab or just get a single hit
3) they loop you to hell and back. If you rev too early at a pallet they just circle it again. Pallet breaking with chainsaw totally unready is the same it feels time wise as just kicking them.
-
Rank 1 survivor, got an Oni 5/5 games day of release now it’s more like 33% of games.
-
Tome was meant to be this additional thing you can do to earn cosmetics along with the Rift but it's taken over every aspect of the game. People play like lunatics.
-
Let’s not forget all a killer has to do is be able to see the gate control lights and it’s game over 99% of the time.
Or if they have Whispers.
Or they are Freddy with traps, Trapper with well traps, Huntress with line of sight, nurse, spirit, or billy, basically any killer with mobility. I’ve seen clown lob bottles at each gate until he sees BP for a hit then it’s gg.
-
A maze like map (or 3) with no gens or exit gates, maybe a hatch. New items help you with decoys, placing traps, even selling out the other survivors. BP are awarded by how long you last and stuff you do. Killer is awarded for killing.
-
@FogNoob i would think they’re doable. #3 would take some work but would be a lot of fun. Allow survivors and killers a few boxes to check so they know what kind of game they are getting. The game already pits survivors against each other somewhat; you need teammates but also sometimes it’s in your best interest to put them between you and the killer.
What do you think of the killer that can modify the maps outside of the match?
-
I think the original post is asking what can BHVR do besides build new killers with slightly different powers?
They would need to expand the game into new areas: new game modes, new objectives for both sides, offerings (or something new) that alters the game greatly.
Examples might include:
1) new game mode: survival - no gens, no exit doors, just a hatch. Maze like setting and other new maps. Survivors have to try to outlast each other, getting more BP as you go. New items help them do this, confusing the killer with decoys and/or selling out their “teammates”.
2) new game mode: invader or veteran - when you successfully escape you are given the option to take your BP or risk it all to be hot dropped into a game in progress with 4+ gens to go. The killer gets a notice and so do the survivors. The invader glows a bit. Now more potential BP for everyone. Repeat as necessary.
3) new game mode: Last Man - very large map with 20 survivors, 30 gens (or none), and 4 killers. Killers can see their BP rank versus the other killers. Every 5 survivors sacrificed the Entity pulls the lowest point killer out. Could play down to either the gens being done or just find the top survivor and top killer.
4) leaderboards! In addition to rank show how many DCs a surv/killer has accumulated in past 48 hours.
5) cosmetics only available based on your devotion level.
6) new killer: game master - standard 115% m1 killer but they have a limited editor outside of games where they can customize the map a bit, placing totems and gens, etc. they always pick the map that is played! That is their power, foreknowledge of the map and its layout.
7) new objectives: parts scavenging for gens and altars for the killers. What these do I don’t know .
-
So he’s a reskinned billy with a buy-in to use his power?
-
@Endstille that the post is irrelevant basically. You already have your answer from them.
You seem more moved by words than actions, I've always ignored what people say and watch what they do. Devs changed nurse.
-
I love posts like this, “devs please just show up and say yes or no.”
it’s like your buddy shows up with a new car and your like “stop keeping me in suspense, are you going to get that new car or not!”
dude just glances at the car and is like uhhhhh
-
@Mikey4Hire DCs are a whole other issue that negatively effect so many aspects of the game. Until BHVR does something about that both sides will be screwed over.
survivors DC to give their buddy the hatch. At the same time if someone DCs at the start of the match then in most cases the killer is going to dominate in a 3v1 with 5 gens to go scenario.
-
So your first goal was to get the 5 gens done between the four of you. You failed.
Then there is this hatch that gives another chance to escape by finding it first. You failed.
Then there are these key items you can find or bring into the match. You failed.
Then there is a two minute timer where you have two different doors to try to get out. You failed.
Sorry but after all that your chances are up. It’s time to die.
-
hey @lilbitofliah here is some clarity or advice that I wish I knew when I started:
- Matchmaking is going to put you with people and a killer that are within 6 ranks of you. If it starts taking too long (depends on your platform and region) then it will start to expand those parameters to cut down on waiting times.
- Decide what kind of survivor you want to be; stealthy or a runner, maybe a bit of both? Honestly of the 100+ perks there are only like 30 that are widely used since they are so good. Find out what works for you. As soon as you have some perks the game changes a lot. Check the Shrine of Secrets each week and load up or just level up survivors (meg, dwight, claudette, david, bill, they all have a perk or two you want).
- Learn to be patient; you don't always need to run, use LOS blockers to your advantage. Unhook teammates if you are close and do generators as fast as you can. Cleanse totems if you see them.
- Learn the maps, aside from some minor RNG changes the generators and totems often pop in the same spots.
- As you play more against different killers you will learn their strengths and weaknesses.
While killers seem so dominate I call tell you from experience (500 hours) that once you get past rank 8 or so the survivors take on the power role and the 4v1 really comes out. A good survivor can avoid and/or loop a killer for minutes. Minutes.
There is nothing that can be done about the DC situation today, it does suck. Until BHVR makes some change to deter this kind of gameplay it will always continue to happen.
90% of the posts on this forum are complaints about unbalance; perks, adds ons, killer's powers, map since, items, etc, etc, etc. In a 4v1 game there will always be unbalance. Unbalance lies in the mind of the player and we all have our biases and everyone's bias is different.
For this reason no matter what the company does this game will always have balance issues. It can be very frustrating when you get bullied by survivors as a killer or you get facecamped or tunneled as a survivor. This is the game.
-
I'm a rank 1 survivor and games against spirit I see the most losses and DCs. I see a lot of billy's and not a lot of nurses actually.
That's like 80% of matches those 2-3 killers. The rest are hodge podge, and I never see legion, rarely see LF/GF/hag/or plague.
-
When you kick the gen do you hold down the spacebar lo my enough for the animation to complete and BP to be awarded?
-
Since comms make no difference and you can’t get rid of it I suggest the following since it matters little:
allow the killer to have 3 friends who spectate and move about the map as ghosts and feed the killer info on what survivors are doing.
its only fair and I mean comms matter little anyway!
-
Make totems color coded; ie hex ruin is a red color but hex haunted ground is gold, devour hope is blue, etc. this is from the killer’s view point mind you.
oh and make huntress lullaby not activate until the first hook.
-
I'd say, at least from my experience, you get a DC'er 15% of the time and a first hook suicide 15% of the time. When you combine that with being rank 4 and getting paired with rank 12+ people another 15% of the time....
The result is a thrown game for one reason or another. It's almost guaranteed the killer will get all of the remaining survivors. Most of this occurs before the first gen or two pop so you know that your little 2-3 man team is not going to get the rest. Then it just becomes "can I safety pip" and you start looking for BP opportunities...
