The upvotes and downvotes seem kind of inconsistent to me. I don’t have a lot of posts/comments yet, but I’ve seen some of my comments that are defending the killer side get upvoted while some get downvoted. I can’t figure out rhyme or reason why. In general, it seems like pro-survivor posts/comments tend to get upvoted more and pro-killer downvoted more. This is to be expected just given the nature of the game. 80% of the players in any given match are a survivor, so they naturally have greater numbers. I know a lot of people play both sides, but there are also some who only play one side. We don’t have any data, but it’s very likely that survivor-only players outnumber killer-only players, and I think we see that in the upvotes/downvotes.

yep it’s so survivor sided that killers win most of their games….
Where are you getting this from? The average kill rate is 60%, which is 2.4 kills per game. 2.4 is closer to 2 (a draw) than 3 (a win).
-
How many more free crutches do we need to give survivors? It’s never enough for some people. We will soon be at a point where killers are very limited in playing the way they want to play based on game situation because of all these rules and restrictions that survivors want placed on them.
Proxy camping comes with big downsides for killers as long as the survivors are at least semi-competent in chases and making attention to what their teammates are doing. Trust me, I’ve tried it as killer plenty of times and realized that it doesn’t work against good survivors. If a killer is camping and not pressuring gens, that means two survivors are free to crank out gens for the entire match. Camping only works well if survivors are 1) not lasting very long in chase and 2) not staying on gens like they should be.

Also why legion removed from 2v8?
Because Legion are incredibly busted and unfun to go against in 2v8 and everyone would either DC or immediately give up in any match with Legion. Keeping Legion in 2v8 would only make the killer queue times way worse than they already are.

We wait 30 mins to play killer and its over in less than 10 mins. Like a joke. How can we have fun this way? Do you even play your games? I don't think you are. Survivor class have better perks than killers and they can use their ability twice in a min while killers once. So survivors can use 16 times while killers twice and killers don't have a enable button for their class abilities. Also not fair the tonics give us extra hook and healing when playing survivor but only speed up for a short time when playing killer. My friend and I don't even want to play killer in 2v8 anymore
Well then I will happily take your spot in the killer queue. I’ve been having fun with killer and doing quite well most games. Survivor needs to be way stronger in 2v8 than 1v4 to actually incentivize people to play that role. As you have noticed, there is still a huge line to play killer which means there are way more people who want to play killer at a given time than there are game slots available. Having some people decide to not play killer in 2v8 is actually a healthy and necessary thing to reduce the queue times.
-
How are people escaping 40% of the time or more if the game is “unplayable”? I am a very average player and my escape rates have been 40% or better. How often are you expecting to escape and how often are you actually escaping?
-
They tried adding bots in lobbies in one of the earlier iterations of 2v8 and it was a disaster. Nobody wanted to play with bots in the lobbies. Also, just play survivor while you’re waiting. Also, how are you waiting 35 minutes? I think the most I’ve waiting is like 15-20. The estimated wait times have always been longer than actual wait times for me.
-
I fully agree with the frustrations that you expressed, but in each case I think it’s a conscious business decision on BHVR’s part. For disconnectors and cheaters, if BHVR punished them more harshly, they would likely lose a lot of revenue and I truly think that’s why they aren’t doing more to discourage these things. They’re betting that most people will still play the game despite the cheating and disconnecting epidemic and they have been right so far.
As for the bugs, I also think it’s a business decision. Fixing the bugs, especially if they’re just more “cosmetic” issues, probably isn’t going to justify spending people hours which means spending $. BHVR is making a bet that the revenue lost from a few people who stop playing because of these beings is probably a lot less than the additional money they would spend fixing the bugs. -
I personally do not see killers trying to slug a whole team as a strategy very often at all. It’s definitely not “rampant”, and just because you see a bunch of videos on YouTube doesn’t mean it’s happening in the average match. And the few times they do try it, it almost never works. The only times I’ve seen it work is against inexperienced/bad players who don’t pick up their teammates. Survivors need to treat a slugged teammate just like a hooked teammate - you need to go for the rescue and you can’t just leave them there. When the survivors do a good job of this, the killer usually loses because they’re not making any progress towards eliminating survivors.

I agree. I like the concept and I’m glad the devs are trying new things. The invocations could be fine if they were adjusted just a little bit to make them worthwhile to run. In their current state the downside is far greater than the upside.

Why does Escapist still have sprint burst on command on a 20-second CD? It's free wins against anyone.
Medic's ability should not instantly fill half a bar of healing progress, 2 average players can become unkillable by just staying together as Medic.
The other 3 classes are just annoyances more than actually being good.
When can killers get some new content to actually play with in the mood? I much rather just stick to survivor and farm easy escapes and BPs.
Hope we can actually get some survivor class changes for the next time 2v8 comes around, and maybe give killers a new class to play with as well?
It’s not free wins. I haven’t had less than 4K yet as killer in 2v8 and plenty of the survivors were Escapists. People need to stop looking for excuses for why they aren’t doing well. I’m honestly a very average player, so it’s not like this type of outcome is out of reach for most players.
-
I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the new skins here and elsewhere in the community. Nothing will change as long as people are still spending money on this stuff. I don’t blame BHVR at all. If people are willing to throw away their money like this, that’s their problem, not BHVR’s.

Unfortunately trols like this exist.
I agree. The reporting process is incredibly time-consuming and in most cases no action is taken anyway. Reporting just isn’t worth the time and effort, sadly.

As someone who plays both sides about equally, I actually feel like balance-wise it’s pretty good. The matchmaking/MMR system is still atrociously bad and the devs have basically said nothing about if or when changes will come for that, so I’m expecting the answer is “never”. Cheating is also pretty common and nothing is being done about that either.

It already is a Survivor sided mode we could completely Skullmerchant treatment the killer side and their still wouldn't be enough survivor players. Toss aside your survivor bias for one sec to recognize how atrocious gen speeds has gotten in 2v8 I get you want survivors to be the dominant side but this is not how it should be with matches ending so fast
Don’t play killer on 2v8 then if it’s that unfun for you. I actually enjoyed playing killer and did pretty well in 2v8 - the only time I didn’t get 5K+ is if my teammate was terrible. The survivors in 2v8 are usually pretty bad, so I never felt like it was difficult to get downs quickly. And I am not a great player by any means. I guess my point is that I didn’t feel like the mode was too survivor sided to not have a good chance to win as killer in most matches.
I don’t see how this is “survivor bias”. I’m a 50/50 player and my opinions come from how I feel the balance is from both points of view. Killers definitely more difficult in 2v8 than 1v4, but as I and others have said, it is supposed to be. If you want easier killer games, then just don’t play 2v8. I don’t understand why you would wait 15-20 minutes to play killer if you aren’t enjoying it.Edit: I played a some survivor matches today and the first few were just a total disaster. 2v8 is a quite a reality check to remind me how many bad players there are. Nearly everyone lasting less than 10 seconds in chase, cowering in corners, refusing to go near gens. The killers in those matches certainly had a very easy time.

I am very sympathetic to the killer side, but we have to remember that 2v8 already has way too many people who want to play killer and not enough people who want to play survivor. So I am totally fine with killer being more difficult/survivor being easier in 2v8. We need to incentivize more people to want to choose the survivor side. I don’t care if this is an unpopular opinion because it’s simply a fact of the numbers.
-
It’s supposed to prevent facecamping, not regular camping. Killers can still proxy camp if they want to and should be able to. It’s a bad strategy and usually doesn’t work well if survivors are doing what they’re supposed to and staying on gens while the killer proxy camps and trades hooks.
-
The average kill rates are pretty much where the devs want them to be, so clearly there is not a massive problem with survivors being overpowered/killers being underpowered. They’re going to make the balance decisions based on the overall player base data, not individual complaints on a forum.
For what it’s worth, I play both sides pretty equally and I don’t feel like killer is underpowered except for going against coordinated SWFs with good players. In those games you either have to either use the strongest killers with meta perks and/or playstyles that survivors consider “unfun” to win. But other than that, I don’t have any problems getting 60% or better kill rates with the killers I play and I would not consider myself a great player. -

As someone who mainly plays survivor, I feel like what I do hasn't changed a lot in the past couple of years. But when I started trying to play killer again after a couple years of not playing it, that role has changed an awful lot. For the worse. I mean, it's bad. Really bad. Everything from there geing five million extra pallets on the map to gens flying by if I take two extra seconds to chase somebody at the start of the match. Unless I'm running corrupt or an S tier killer every game, I don't have any idea how to exert enough map pressure to compensate for five million pallets, gen times or the current meta. I feel like many killer games are either being bullied by bagging survivors or the game crashing when it looks like I'm going to win.
On top of all that, I've noticed a distinct increase in survivor BM and stuff that looks suspiciously like lag switching/cheating. For instance, I can play survivor all day long and the game runs smoothly. Seldom crashing. But whenever I play killer the game uddenly becomes jittery and buggy as hell, especially during those games where it looks like I'm going to win, and then as I go to hook a survivor I suddenly can't and the whole game crashes. (Could be from anything, but it happening only on killer is either survivors cheating or an unfortunate killer sided server bug that adds to the stinkiness of the killer experience for me)
At this rate, I feel like the devs are gonna have to start tossing out some iri shards for playing a certain number of killer matches. Or start "sneaking in" some anonymous bot killers. Because, seriously, this role feels super miserable to play right now.
What killers do you play and what are your kill rates with them? Wondering if you’re doing significantly worse than average kill rate or if you’re doing better and it’s just a matter of expectations.

I’m actually at the point where I don’t understand what the anti camp system is supposed to be doing anymore.
Just had a match where I get hooked, killer “leaves” for like 5 seconds, realizes no one is immediately there, and then just hovers the area the entire time. Not close enough to fully trigger anything meaningful, but close enough that nobody can realistically get a safe save without trading. And of course, hook timer is ticking like normal the whole time.
So what exactly changed?
Because from a survivor perspective, nothing. If anything, it feels worse. Killers don’t have to hard face camp anymore, they just soft camp and get the exact same result with less risk. You still burn through first stage before your team can do anything meaningful, especially on maps where line of sight is trash.
And then you’ve got killers like Bubba or Hillbilly who don’t even need to play mind games around it. They just exist near the hook and it’s basically a guaranteed down if anyone tries to unhook. Anti camp meter filling? Cool, doesn’t matter when the trade is instant.
That’s the part that makes no sense to me. The system seems designed around the idea that survivors can just “wait it out” and get value, but in reality, waiting just means the hooked person loses a full stage while the killer holds position with zero pressure elsewhere.
And before someone says “just do gens,” yeah, sure, in theory. In practice, you’re watching your teammate hit second stage because the killer is proxy camping and the game is basically forcing you to choose between throwing them or throwing the match. Great design.
This is where hook timers come back into it too. Even if the anti camp system worked perfectly (which it doesn’t), the timer is still way too punishing for how the game is actually played now. There’s no buffer to deal with these situations just constant urgency with zero room to outplay it. Hook timers should be a lot longer in return, survivors are already in an extremely weak state and killers simply have no consequences for playing such a boring and non punishing playstyle which ultimately earns them free kills. It needs heavy nerfing.
They need to make the systems actually work together. Right now it feels like anti camp exists on paper, but in game it’s just killers adapting slightly and getting the same outcome before anti camp was added, they can simply move a little further and no progress to the bar for the survivors go up, it's problematic for the overall balance and health of DBD overall.
As others have said, it’s not supposed to eliminate camping. It’s supposed to eliminate (and does eliminate” facecamping which is not the same thing. Camping has always been a valid strategy, but as others have also said it doesn’t work very well most of the time. If you’re getting camped, two or three other survivors can easily pound out gens uninterrupted. If they’re not doing this, that’s a problem with teammates and not understanding how to play the game and not using the UI information to know who is working on gens and who should be going for the save.
If this camping strategy was as oppressive you claim, there would be way more Bubba/Hillbilly players. But there’s a good reason do don’t see many of them. Bubba is super easy to loop (he’s actually probably my favorite killer to go against) and Hillbilly requires a lot of skill and practice to be good. Camping with Bubba or Hillbilly usually means 1K for the killer as long as the other survivors have even a little bit of game sense and are getting gens done. -
I really hate going against new Myers. I agree he’s pretty braindead and seems like the only skill required is “press button to instadown”. I still haven’t figured out a good way to counter him - maybe I need to watch some people who are good against new Myers to learn.

I'm excited to see what mediocre, low-value perk we'll be blaming for our actions next month.
It’’s not a mediocre, low-value perk in its current state and pretending that it is is disingenuous, IMO. I use it in every single survivor match and it’s a great perk. Think about all those times when you get chased off a nearly-completed gen. Fast Track has allowed me to get those gens finished in nearly all of those close-call situations. Saving tokens to help break 3-gen setups that killer is closely guarding is also a very powerful use. Killers have a very valid complaint about this perk, especially when multiple survivors bring it and are using toolboxes/BNPs with it.

Do you know how many people would be falsely banned with a system like this? Just look at how poorly the AFK crows system was implemented. We don’t want anything like that ever again.

I play survivor quite a bit and Ghoul is still probably my least favorite killer to go against even after his nerfs. It’s like going against Legion but way more annoying. Super easy to zip all over the map and get free EZ hits, then constant mend simulator. I can’t imagine that anyone on the survivor side actually enjoys going against Ghoul. It’s not even a matter of him being OP - it’s just super annoying and boring.

Where have you been? This has been something on-going for years. It's why the DC penalties rolled out 10 months ago, so aggressively at first that Survivors were getting matchmaking bans for playing normally. People advocate for them to be stronger all of the time.
You're correct that it happens on both sides, but you and I are specifically talking about the moral argument which always falls on Survivor.
You’re talking about the inactivity warnings/bans which are not the same thing as DC bans. I agree with you that it was stupid how survivors were getting punished for playing normally with the inactivity bans.
I’m talking about DC bans for leaving the game early. I do think those should be stronger (for both sides) because I still see people doing it all the time and ruining the match for everyone. I still haven’t seen anyone arguing that it’s OK for killers to DC from a match. If you find someone trying to argue this, let me know.

That is precisely the problem. The never-coming answers. And you know what infuriates us the most? When Behavior employees publicly say "we do listen to our community" shuckles. Maybe you do, maybe you don't, but it's you (Behavior) who decide when updates and stuff we've been begging for comes to the game (or not), and right now, we, as clients, as consumers of your product, feel like your focus is not where it trully matters.
The problem with cheaters is escalating… do you recall that live when Behavior told us about some things that would be coming to the game? Anti-tunnel, New Anti-cheat, etc? Where are those things? Seriously, I wish I was joking. This is the first time in my entire life I wish SO BAD I was joking, but unfortunately I am not. Unintentionally, that Yun Jin perk rework proved to be the biggest snitch of all times. I've been reporting those godamn epic games cheaters (not every epic games player, but always an epic games player) everyday, but the consensus among the community is that ''Behavior knows about them and couldn't care less, so why should I waste my time reporting them?". This is the point of mistrust that we have reached.
As a faithful community, we need to rebuild trust. We love the game, but we hate how important things and decisions take aeons to be made. We are loyal to DBD, but this relationship is quickly deteriorating. Are you guys going to save "this marriage" or let it sink?
Have BHVR ever explained why they simply won’t just deactivate all the unused free Epic accounts they gave out years ago? It wouldn’t solve the cheater problem completely, but it would be a good step in the right direction and require basically no resources to implement. Why they haven’t done that yet it truly baffling to me. There’s literally no reason for any unused free account to still be active other than for cheaters to use.

Genuinely nothing, not an ounce of anything? It just doesn’t seem possible and that’s probably why the community feels the way they do.
BHVR has broken trust with the community one too many times and has made little effort to repair….well any of it. Here’s an off the wall example.“Hey guys we hear you, genuinely! We are always listening that’s why we are listening to your feedback regarding blight”
Right. I get that..I respect that, but it’s been 6 long years that feedback has fallen on what it felt like deaf ears 👂 until recently when BHVR said oh no we heard you.
I can say with certainty that most of us truly don’t feel heard nor appreciated on these forums. A lot of this is due to the broken trust. Why can’t/wont BHVR make effort to repair that? Care about us enough to fix it? We are here because we care. We just want to feel the same way back. ❤️

The “broken promises” comment really resonated with me - I feel exactly the same way. I think a lot of players do. But the key thing to remember is that despite all the broken promises, the game still has basically more players than ever. And many of these players are continuing to spend money on skins, DLC, etc. BHVR isn’t going to act with any sense of urgency on any of their past promises unless that changes because, well, they don’t have to. You’re all still playing and spending money on the game no matter that the do or don’t do. Money speaks louder than any player feedback by a long shot. I have been happy to spend money on the game in the past to support some good content and positive changes to the game. That changed when I felt that it had been way past due for them to address two key issues that players have been begging to be addressed for a long time: 1) matchmaking/MMR and 2) cheating. For years now BHVR has prioritized so many other things over these, including many things that nobody in the community was asking for. So while I still play the game, I’m no longer supporting with my $ until those issues are addressed. If everyone else did the same I can guarantee you would see much quicker action.

Then go get slugged over and over and tell me how fun it is to be in a match where you're licking the ground at 5 gens. It's pretty common right now so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one of these super fun matches. And it's even more fun, by your standards, when you get to bleedout for 4 minutes. I've had two of these just in the last couple days.
Ah yes, the legenadry high MMR that everyone is in yet everyone also agrees matchmaking is garbage. Yeah I see one or two too because it's had buzz. These are matches I usually win because this perk is nothing. Second chance/chase extenders are still the meta perks i lose to.
Perks shouldn't be the only way to counter someone else's decisions. I don't need gen perks to do a gen, I don't need healing perks to heal, I don't need chase perks to win a chase, but I do need anti-slugging perks to stand back up. There's a reason there was an effort to make this counterable at basekit. Because it's garbage and it makes matches awful. Anti-slug perks are also garbage. Conviction requires coordination, and the killer can just run you down until you drop. Unbreakable is one time use. Exponential is snuffable. "Just bring perks" yet the perks are crap.
I don’t mind being slugged at all. I’d rather be slugged than be hooked - at least I’m not getting progressed as fast towards being eliminated from the game. In my experience, killers who prefer to slug instead of hook usually lose.
If you’re staying down for minutes or your whole team is getting slugged, that is because 1) survivors aren’t picking each other up, and 2) survivors are getting downed very quickly in their chases. Neither of those things is a problem with the way the killer is playing.
Oh and let’s not forget that survivors are allowed to abandon match for free if everyone is slugged. Are there any situations where killers get to abandon match for free when they are losing? -

It's not about penalties, it's the way the community views it. Survivors are entitled for quiting yet pretty much nothing is said about killer DCs.
So nobody here ever calls killers “entitled” for quitting? Again, this seems like a very one-sided view that it’s only killer players who call the other side “entitled”. I’m not sure how you can back this up unless you are keeping your own private record of the number of posts on each side calling the other side entitled for quitting.
-
I want to see how all the people who say they can win easily without camping, tunneling or slugging do against this team.

Specifically in terms of the moral argument the community has made over the years. It still ends the trial for 4 other people and bars challenges/achievements from completing, wastes time and caps progression, etc., but since Killer is on a one-man team "it only affects one player". Meanwhile it's almost the one year anniversary of going next being removed and DC penalties being severely tightened and we're still arguing that one Survivor DCing "ruins it for everyone" despite the trial continuing on.
Who in the community is arguing that it’s ok for killers to DC? And you’ve never seen anyone here argue that survivors should be able to DC and that it’s fine because “the match doesn’t end and there’s still a bit to play for the person who left”?
You’re just making generalizations without any evidence and making it seem like one side (“killer-sided players”) are the bad guys. I’m pretty sure killer players get the same penalties that survivor players do when they DC.

A Killer tunneling one person out at 5 gens forces the trial to be mismatched and is nearly impossible to compete in unless the Killer adapts their playstyle. These days if a Survivor DCs at 5 gens, the remaining Survivors are given a bot that will still take chase, unhook, heal, complete gens, and open the gates.
When it comes down to it, it's an unfair moral argument. Killer is given the most autonomy over the trial and is allowed to rage quit for a laundry list of reasons, while Survivor is not.
Killers are allowed to rage quit? How so?

Realistically, how often does this actually happen?
This is the best response. Our time, energy and outrage is better spent on far bigger issues in this game.

This is all because the killer main community is TERRIFIED of the fabled 4 man fast track. So as always killers will treat fellow gamers like trash for a fear of an uncommon thing. Besides why do only survivors have to bring certain perks for those that want to make the game miserable for others? And I do not consider people bringing lightborn, because they see one beamer.
What do you mean “as always killers will treat fellow gamers like trash”? Care to explain?

I didn't say slugging wasn't within the rules, I just said it's too much hard work in solo, so I go AFK. He uses that perk that makes the people close scream, so he just steam rolls.
People quitting and screwing over their team is a way bigger problem than slugging

No such thing in a weak killer. All killers are winning a majority of the time which means they are too strong.
You don’t play the weaker killers, do you? If you want nothing but Blights, Nurses and Ghouls in your matches, then by all means please keep opposing buffing weak killers. Try playing a few matches as Trapper, Pig or Ghostface and let us know how you do. There needs to be incentive for people to actually play the weaker killers if you want to see more than just the S-tier killers in your matches.

You’ve never actually played as any of the weaker killers, have you? If you want to just go against Blights, Ghouls and Nurses 100% of the time, then please by all means keep fighting against buffing weak killers. There has to be some incentive for people to actually want to play the non-S-tier killers. Go ahead and try playing Trapper, Pig or Ghostface for a few matches and come back and let us know how that goes.

For a game company that openly prides itself on being diverse and inclusive to appease it's diverse and inclusive community I find it ironic that when just about anybody comes to the forums to make suggestions that would diversify gameplay with hopes that the community be inclusive of said ideas we actually get the exact opposite, nobody seems to want to be open to new ideas that would likely increase sales and the overall morale of the community and shoots down any attempt at such discourse thus shutting down the idea of inclusivity all together. I hope for the sake of the game we can move in a more positive direction on this front because the gameplay loop does seriously get stale.
That’s…not what they mean by diversity and inclusion.
