I don't know why people are downvoting you either but yeah. When the game was a lot slower, it definitely had a lot more suspense to it. A lot more reasons to tread carefully or you get punished. Now people just want to finish games quickly and move onto the next queue. Imo, that's where I feel a lot of the core issues people have with the game exist in where it's less about wanting an authentic game experience and more about wanting to play DbD like any other multiplayer live service game with competitive elements. All the balancing adjustments and changes to the core gameplay feel like they fit this mentality
People are downvoting because some people here downvote anything that isn’t “all killers are broken and OP and gen speeds are still too slow.” They don’t play killer and so they don’t know and don’t care how difficult it can be to play against good survivors with lower tier killers.
-
Why do people always generalize about all players based on a few bad experiences in their recent matches?
-
As survivor, probably NOED. It feels terrible when the killer plays poorly and then gets rewarded with a free, cheap kill in endgame.
As killer, I can’t think of anything that I really hate to go against. The exhaustion perks are annoying but as someone who also plays survivor I am glad they are in the game. I guess if I have to pick one it would be Dead Hard. Even after it was nerfed, it still feels terrible to deal with “press button for free health state”.

just a tierlist i made im open to feedback!
Overall mostly right but Bubba in A tier? Not even close. I’m not a great survivor player but I love going against him because I can usually loop him for a very long time. He is terrible against any half-decent survivor.
Wraith in C tier is also way off. He’s my main and I usually do pretty well with him. If you know how to play him he’s at least B, if not low A tier. Not sure about Pinhead. He stomps solo queue but not very good against SWF. I’d say B-tier at best.
-
I feel like it’s pretty fine. Yes, it’s incredibly annoying to chase good players who know how to abuse it, but keep in mind that the survivor side needs to be very strong in this mode to incentivize more players to choose that side.
I guess if anything the cooldown could be made slightly longer but that’s about it. -
I agree 100% and I’m glad someone made a post about this because I was about to do it myself. All usual counters like taking 180 turns around walls or other obstacles don’t work because he has no turn radius limitations whatsoever. Still completely busted.
-
P-head’s and Draculas ranged attacks are extremely easy to dodge and bait. Try playing with them against decent survivors and you’ll quickly find out what I’m taking about.
-
Ok - you don’t like 2v8. A lot of people do - including myself. It’s extremely popular and brings in a lot of players every time it is available.
-
I get the frustration, but I am on BHVR’s side on this one. They need to err very much on the side of not falsely banning people. There are a lot of very, um, not good players and I could see a lot of false bans for people just being very bad or trying to do challenges/get achievements.

Play however you want within the rules and don’t feel bad about it
-
Agree - there’s no reason to pick P-head in 2v8 unless you’re ok with getting stomped. Hopefully he will get some buffs like Nemesis did to make him more viable.

Just out of curiosity, how can you tell when you're put into a backfilled lobby? It'd be good to be able to see the signs for my games
The most obvious sign is if you load into a lobby and there are already other players readied up. Also if you load into a lobby and there is no killer yet.

Perhaps the MMR / matchmaking is so bad because you are constantly getting back filled into lobbies other killers have dodged because what you are describing "they are too weak or too strong" sounds like backfilled lobbies.
It has everything to do with the MMR system. Because once ONE killer dodges the lobby, MMR / matchmaking is ruined for that lobby.
But by that same logic the surviours should be able to see the killer and stuff so they can "give themselves control over matchmaking"? Giving one side that ability is unhealty for the game because lets me honest, majoirty of killer are gonna dodge when oppenents look to hard, not when they look too weak.
No - it’s not because of backfilling. I can tell when I get put in a backfill lobby and it doesn’t happen often. The terrible matchmaking occurs on a regular basis even when it’s not a lobby backfill situation.
-
I’m going to take what is likely the unpopular side here. Being able to leave lobbies is necessary as long as BHVR continues to do nothing about the broken MMR/matchmaking system. It’s still way too common for people to get matched against people either way above or way below their skill level. The ability to choose a different lobby at least gives players some level of control over matchmaking.
If BHVR decides that they finally want to fix this broken system, and I actually see some improvement in consistently reasonable matching of skill level, I’ll happily get on board with those who are opposed to lobby dodging. -

Why are you guys being downvoted???
The downvotes are coming from a bunch of anonymous people who don’t play killer and thus will offer no actual suggestions to help you improve your killer gameplay. It’s just the same “us vs them” stuff that prevents constructive discussions about how both sides can get better at the game. Thankfully, some people who actually want to help have provided some very good suggestions instead of downvote bombing you.
-
A server side check should be easily possible to detect all kinds of cheating, but BHVR is either unwilling to do it or there is some kind of technical reason why they can’t do it. Either way, this has been a problem for a long time and it’s still not getting addressed.
-
@RizeKagune said:
If it's any consolation there's an upcoming change to the current MMR system still on the table. Though we no idea when it's going to happen.
Nobody should believe this. BHVR has done this ever since the game was released where they will promise something that the community is asking for, they’ll tell us that it’s on the “roadmap”, then years go by with no update and no explanation for why they never followed through.

Play killer and try the “slugging only” strategy yourself for 10 matches. Come back and let us know what the results were. If it’s a highly effective strategy to consistently win matches, I will happily change my opinion.
Even if I did that, you'll just say that the Survivors played badly. Kind of like what you're saying now. So I doubt it would change your opinion.
Yes, some survivors will play badly, but some won’t. That’s why you need a large enough data set. Try it for 10-20 matches and let me know how it goes.
-
There’s a simple explanation: the matchmaking system doesn’t work. We’ve been getting told by BHVR for a long time now that they plan to fix it at some point, but it’s been so long with no action that it’s very clear that they have no intention of actually addressing it.

If the teammates aren't picking up the downed Survivor, they're either on a gen or getting chased (and downed) by the Killer. Meanwhile, third teammate can go pick up the downed Survivor, but then they'd have to go pick up the other teammate who was just downed. Rinse and repeat for a dragged out match where Survivors can't do gens because they're too busy picking each other up, and they inevitably bleed out. That's the kind of behavior that needs to be addressed.
In your scenario, there’s always at least one free survivor who should always be on a gen. If the killer is getting downs so quickly that none of the other survivors can continuously be making gen progress, well that’s a problem with the survivor team’s ability to last more than a few seconds in chase.
Play killer and try the “slugging only” strategy yourself for 10 matches. Come back and let us know what the results were. If it’s a highly effective strategy to consistently win matches, I will happily change my opinion. -

In fact, survivors should be glad killers are slugging and not hooking, because hooks mean that you’re closer to dying.
If you've been on the forums for any length of time, you would see that most Survivors would prefer dying quickly and moving on to the next match over lying on the ground for four minutes unable to do anything. That's part of why the Abandon feature was added (and the scenario where you get knocked down several times that allows you to abandon).
If someone is lying on the ground for 4 minutes, then either 1) the killer is camping the downed survivor, and the rest of the team is free to get most of, if not all, the gens done; or 2) if the killer is not camping the downed survivor, then where are the teammates and why are they not picking up downed survivor?
I’ll keep saying it over and over - for those who disagree or don’t like what I’m saying, go try playing killer yourself, don’t hook anyone that you down, and see how it goes. If you can show me that you can consistently win matches playing this way, I will happily change my opinion. -

you say the same thing in most other similar posts but your responses are very hollow and feels like a bit also it feels a little disingenuous to say the solution is to heal and pick eachother up when the 2 key perks to the "slugging meta" build rely on survivors healing within the killers terror radius. It feels like disinformation to steer from a current issue.
It’s not disingenuous - it’s from my own experience playing survivor in the game. If someone is slugged, you go pick them up, just like you would go rescue someone on hook. If the killer is camping the slugged survivor, that means there are three survivors free to do gens uninterrupted. It’s not that difficult.
-
I’ve said this in lots of other threads already, but slugging is only a problem in the survivors don’t pick up their teammates. In fact, survivors should be glad killers are slugging and not hooking, because hooks mean that you’re closer to dying. I’ve only had a handful of matches ever where the whole team was slugged, and I was far angrier at my teammates for not picking anyone up than I was at the killer for slugging. If my teammates are actually picking people up, the slugging killer very rarely wins the match in my experience.
For the downvoters who disagree - go play some matches as killer, don’t hook anyone, and see how it goes. You might be surprised how ineffective it is.
-
Great post - thanks for sharing! Very refreshing to see this instead of the usual divisive posts we get here.

No IT IS A SIDE ISSUE
Because the killer specific problems are worse and not being taken seriously.
I know on the forums that unless you post the most milk toast Reponses you get mass downvoted. But I am tired of pretending that matches like this one, aren't happening even semi consistently. Or that it is even close to equal to survivors spamming the crouch button.
I Know everybody wants to say how wrong I am but there now issues for people even trying to play the game and they can't do it, because the teammates keep giving up and I CANNOT BLAME THEM.
You continuing to insist that this is a “side” issue is the biggest problem here. There are lots of players who play both sides that are toxic in the game. There are also lots of killer and survivor players who are friendly and gracious when they win or lose. As others have said, toxicity is an issue with players, not an issue of one side vs another. Try playing killer for a little while and you will see that toxic stuff happens on both sides. There is nothing productive about people coming here to share an example from one game about something that somebody did to them that they don’t like and then using that to demonize the entire killer/survivor player base.

I think it's pretty clear that I'm talking exclusively about "killers who get angry when slugging survivors do DCs." At no point did I say ALL KILLERS. I don't know, I think that view of yours is a personal problem...
Why even make a post about at all then? I can take hundreds of examples of players on both sides being toxic and irrational, but I’m not going to make a post about those examples and say “why are xxx players this way?” every time someone acts that way. All it does it turn into a big “us vs them” argument.

Around every 2 Weeks when I play with Friends we get a Killer that takes the last 2 Survivors Hostage until they can guarantee the 4K.
Or you get a Survivor that only touches Totems and Lockers the entire Match.I have reported these Players and got no response. So apparently they only played like that for a single match? Given their Attitude and Origin I highly doubt that, though of course I can't prove it.
And let's not even start to talk about Endgame Chat Toxicity.
I just think it is absurd that you can get away with stuff like this consistently but you have to fear a Ban if you bought a Chapter on Instant Gaming in 2020.
There’s no response from BHVR because the things you are reporting aren’t bannable. Killers going for 4K or survivors only doing totems (while they may be bad players and unhelpful teammates) are not against the game rules.
-
@Galafure said:
Like the guy before you dont understand. WORKING WITH THE KILLER is a bannable offense. Not the slugging for the 4k, that is just a sign of lack of skill. You guys really need to read and understand before you jump in. This does nothing for the discusion. But for the sake of saying, I will say my piece and ignore every killer whining that their lack of skill style is the best or whatever. But slugging is for pressure. So killers that slug the entire team just because they had a bad day in real life, there is no strategic value to the slug. They just want to ruin peoples fun. Should be bannable. And I have reported for and seen action taken messages. Take that for what it is. Overall its just another way for cheesing a win without having skill at the game. At higher mmr those players get wrecked so it is what it is.
Can you explain how slugging for the 4K is “lack of skill”? What would be the skillful play in this situation? Since you seem to be very interested in telling people how they should play killer, can you show us some of your killer gameplay to teach us what we should do when there are two survivors left?
-
@Galafure said:
So I did not read every single comment but I am shocked that no one seemed upset about the bannable offense of taking the game hostage and forcing one survivor to rat out their teammate or just sit on the ground slugged to prevent the ever feared hatch. As for the OP, I have been clear that I am a survivor main and this happens ALL THE TIME. Truthfully report them. It is against the rules for the killer to work with the survivor. Or vice versa.
No one is upset because leaving 2nd survivor slugged to deny last survivor hatch is not holding the game hostage and is not bannable. No one is being forced to rat out their teammates. Holding the game hostage means that one side is preventing the other side from progressing the game. I don’t know if you realize this, but there is a bleed out timer for the person who is slugged. Do I think there should be a way for people to abandon match or accelerate that timer in this situation if they want? Absolutely. But the survivors are not being held hostage. Slugged survivor will eventually bleed out and last survivor has options. They can try to hide and do actions to avoid crows until other survivor bleeds out so hatch spawns, or they can take their chances with killer in a final chase. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but last survivor is not entitled to hatch and I have no problem with killer trying to get 4K if that’s the way they choose to play.
You can keep reporting it if you want, but those reports will just get thrown into the trash bin because it’s not bannable. -
“Just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s good?” I would come back with “just because you don’t think it’s good doesn’t mean it’s not good.”
I love 2v8, both as killer and survivor. There is a good reason that BHVR brings back this mode on a regular basis - it’s extremely popular. I understand there is a minority of players like you that don’t like it, but they can always play normal mode. “Play while you wait” for 1v4 exists now to eliminate the queue time issue. -
Ghostface is a consensus d-tier killer and probably deserves complaints less than any other killer on the roster. I’ll take him 1000 times out of 1000 over Ghoul. Yes, he’s annoying to go against on indoor maps, but he’s completely useless on any maps where you can see him coming from a distance. If you really believe he doesn’t require skill, just try playing as him on any outdoor map and let us know how it goes for you.

you could say 4 man slugging is abusing a mechanic in a way that isn’t intended.
4-man slugging can only be “abused”’ by killer if the survivor team allows it. If your team doesn’t have the game sense to go pick up their teammates when they’re slugged (I think a lot of players don’t realize that killers can only chase one person at time!) and also can’t last long enough in chase for people to pick up their teammates, that is 100% due the survivors just being bad at the game, not the killer abusing some sort of loophole in the game.
-
Why are you demonizing all killer players based on what happened in one match? Posts like this are purely for divisive purposes.

Glad we are moving past the idea that the killer side is wholesome and free of toxicity while survivors are all toxic, at least.
Both sides have their unfortunate share of toxic players and they both have it in equal measure. That has always been the case.
Who is saying that killer side is wholesome and all survivors are toxic, other than a few one-sided players in the community? There is nothing to “move past” because this idea is not something that is a commonly-held belief in the community. I see people here all the time complaining about killers being toxic, this post being a prime example. This is simply another strawman that only serves to proliferate the “us vs them” attitude.
-
So you had one match where the killer didn’t let you get hatch like you wanted and this means that all killer players are entitled? Attitudes like this is why there is so much divisiveness and toxicity in this community. So sick and tired of the “us vs them”
-
I barely ever see Freddy. Probably because he just isn’t viable against good survivors who know how to counter him. Like a few other killers with more complex powers, he stomps noobs but struggles against experienced players.

Killers are not slower than before (aside from the things which changed in the latest Patch). So most likely perception. Subtle cheating could also be involved, but without a video, it is even harder to tell.
Yeah I was also thinking subtle cheaters explains this. I’ve had plenty of matches where survivors did not have any haste perks but were somehow able to run just as fast if not faster than me.

Unfortunately as expected, your post will be downvoted into oblivion despite Nemesis and Oni being one of the most prevalent combos this 2v8.
But yes, Nemesis is not fair. Neither is Oni. Downvotes with no discussion just proves that killers don't want to work for a win.
I’ll add a comment to my downvote. Nemesis is fine - he was useless trash with fewer zombies. I’ve escaped against him plenty of times. Zombies are easy to take care of with pallets everywhere and ability to rebuild pallets. I will agree that Oni is still busted in 2v8. He shouldn’t be able to have infinitely small turn radius and easily hug the tightest corners.
-
I have no issues at all with current version of Nemesis in 2v8. He was straight up garbage in previous versions and is now somewhat viable but definitely not OP. Zombies can easily be countered with flashlights or pallets but I often see survivors failing to use either of these counters.

I could, but on some maps or when they hide it takes a while to find them, and if they are all in the same spot you might not even get all of them to a hook in range
Yeah, that is a valid point. I love it when people complain about being slugged but they will purposely crawl away to a hiding spot so killer can’t find them easily

Don’t play killer in 2v8 if you’re not enjoying it. I’ve been having fun playing killer, so I will gladly take your spot in the queue and I’m sure many others would as well.

I know that Survivors can disconnect when they are all 4 down and that's all good and fair, but why do I as a killer have to keep playing against 4 bots to get the 4k? Sure i can abandon too, but then it counts as a 4 escape.
When the game acknowledges that the survivors can't win anymore, and lets them abandon, why does it not acknowledges that I would have gotten the 4k? Why do the downed survivors in that case count as escaped when i disconnect?
Can’t you just hook them all to the end the game sooner?
-
If it’s this prevalent, can you post a couple videos showing us what you’re talking about? I’ve seen plenty of cheaters but it’s not 9 out of 10 games.

Except averages are deceptive like that. Just because the average is close to 2k, there’s no guarantee that that’s representative of the most common outcomes.
Between a 10, a 10, a 10, a 0, and a 0, the average is 6, not 10, or 0.
Yes that is true, but it would require the outcome distribution to be extremely weighted on both the 4K and 0K ends. I think it’s unlikely that the distribution is that skewed, and more likely that it looks more like a normal distribution. Either way, because the devs never provide the data, we have no idea. There’s certainly no way to conclude that “killers win most of their games”

Hey guys its me again,
maybe you know me, since I try most of the time to write thought out responses or things I would change in some discussions.
Since I am a Survivor main which is scared to play Killer (stress anxiety) I try to go with open eyes on the problems of both sides.
But in the last time the upvote and downvote system was a spinter in my eye. Why do you ask? Well because of the following observation. If I write something which would help the Survivor side my Upvotes are much higher than my downvotes but if I write something Killer related my downvotes explode compared to the upvotes.
Let me give you an example:
One of my strongest Survivor sided thing I want to be implamented into this game is that DS should be usable on both hookstates so that hard tunneling gets a slap on the palm of the hand.
One of my strongest Killer sided thing I wanted to be implamented into this game (in the last days I was active) was to change Fast Track (away from getting tokens per hook to getting tokens for hooking the same survivor in a row), not because I thought this perk was OP but because I thought the perk is promoting unhealthy gamestyles as tunneling.
As you see both things I wrote here is with only thing in the mind, how tunneling "could" be attacked to be less attractive. (Do I think it would disappear? Unlikely… but it would be a step into the right direction)
Well my up and downvotes escalated in both casees. In the one I say to "buff" a Survivor perk I got tons of upvotes in the other case where I talk about a change to a Survivor perk to make tunneling less benefitial for Killer my downvotes went up and up.
Since I know that BHVR looks for statistics and the game is a 4v1 I hope that BHVR is aware of this problem. If people get "Shadow banned" because their posts are "recived" negative by 4 guys when only 1 guy approves than this forum will escalated into a real echo chamber where defending Killer becomes nearly impossible.
My personal problem is my own character. As it is normal for humans I like it when my Upvotes are higher than my downvotes but the only way I can archive this is by catering to the Survivor side because even the smallest and well thought out change which would benefit Killer gets nuked out of nowhere and that leads me away from giving my honest opinion on many topics.
I appreciate you trying to look at things from the killer point of view even though you don’t play killer, and also actually being open with the fact that you don’t play killer. If everyone who only plays one side did the same, this forum would be a much better place.
