  • Do you play killer in the event?

  • @esarraf said:

Looks to the survivor bloodpoint modifier

Yeah, I'm sure that killers are totally having a bad time and that's why there's so many of them.

A team that knows what they are doing even a little bit can obliterate most killers in the game mode because they can constantly just heal all survivors to full health, go invis, get free speed boosts, etc. Killers get a boring fart bottle that isn't fun to play against either, but literally nothing else.

Why didnt those Youtubers talk about the past Anniversary Events being unbalanced?

Cuz they were fun as hell, both sides got really fun stuff. Also making this excuse is just in bad faith like… and? Does that change how poorly balanced this anni game mode is?

  • @cammoking123 said:

That poison isn't random like survivor abilities and it's the strongest ability out of those mentioned. It's like a stronger forced hesitation.

it's strong but in the most unfun braindead way ever. If you get hit by it you will get injured or downed most likely.

  • I don't think it looks good if a bunch of youtubers, the biggest youtubers, are saying how awful the balance of this event is. I mean like, imagine you never played dbd before and watched one of those videos, you probably wouldn't play dbd.

  • Jason is B-tier, but because he is B-tier and not A-tier he is still just okay, mostly due to survivor perks being way too strong so any killer that isn't incredibly strong will suffer through them.

I don't really mind the projectile, it's unique enough to me, not saying it's the most creative thing ever though.

Why am I getting downvoted for this?

  • @dbd900bach said:

Animations are never worth complaining about when the chapter is still in PTB state. They're guaranteed to be polished and will look much better upon release vs now.

As for the power, Omnipotent Evil is really cool and on brand for Jason. He's brutal, powerful and really does embody what it means to be the OG slasher.

The spike is middle ground. Disregarding whether or not it suits Jason, it does look incredibly fun. It has a lot of power behind it as survivors are thrown a considerable distance from the force alone. The three mori's are amazing and are really on brand in my opinion for what the chapter is, and what Behavior has to work with.

In terms of how Jason looks, its not amazing, but I think its secretly genius. Depending on what they have access in terms of his various looks, they will make a killing off of his purchasable cosmetics. Not just to have their favorite slasher look, but also ditch the not so great base look.

Personally, to me, the newer Jason doesn't really look THAT different from the older Jasons. I see the differences don't get me wrong, but to me they don't really make him look better or worse. He is just a bit smoother I guess. The spike does look pretty satisfying though so I hope to have fun with that, though it would have been cool if there were like different alternative weapons he could have used along with spikes, but eh it isn't the end of the world.

  • @GeneralV said:

The animations will probably be polished from PTB to live. Having a projectile, however, is not good at all, and that will not change, no matter how much feedback is received.

Anything can be polished and the ptb is not meant to be a polished version for release. All animations will likely see significant improvement before release

    I hope so.

I do wish the animations and character models were better. I understand they’re limited by the game engine but it would be nice if the graphics were on par with the latest Mortal Kombat game so we can have fatality level moris

I don't really care about how the engine limits things, it's just the basic quality of how the animations look and feel that just don't sit right with me at all. His arm bends in a extremely weird way in his weapon wipe (I do assume that will be fixed, it SHOULD be.), his pickup looks wrong, the animations look both too stiff and too smooth and don't have that "OOMF" like other killers have, it just looks wrong.

  • In my opinion his power looks cool to me and has some fun concepts, though they could have done so much more with it and had so much more fun with it.

I am more angry at the quality in his animations.

Genuinely S-tier killers are deathly boring when I play them unironically. If I ever play ghoul (And the match is not super close) then I'll just 2 hook everyone and then just let them all go cuz yes. I don't even have a main but I have played springle trump the most.

Plus I know they are extremely boring to go against survivor.

  • @ThePromethean said:

As others have said, best option really is to use S tier killers because low tier killers are harmless v a good team no matter what perks you use. Pallets, maps, spawn locations seem highly in the survivors favour recently unless your a blight, nurse, billy, ghoul....they seem to be the killers that don't get slapped about so much.

Also don't be afraid to play dirty lol a few times I have acted like a "friendly killer" then used noed at the end and downed them all when they are busy squatting around me

  • @NeverSolus said:

I'm going to speak frankly if a bit crudely on the rules I use. I play Huntress primarily, with no real slowdown perks save for surge.

    1 - Identify your ######### :tm:

Find the person. You know the one. The one that runs into walls, the one that can't quite loop correctly. The one that didn't pre-run. That's your ######### :tm:. Make sure everyone knows they are. In most games applying pressure to that one person insinuating a tunnel will collapse their entire team as people run over to prevent a tunnel you didn't actually intend to perform. Abuse this.

    2 - 30 second rule

If you are in a chase for more than 30s you better have a damn good reason for it. Otherwise, break it at once. Do not chase the good loopers. Do not chase someone who obviously wants it, clicking lashlights and emoting. Do not chase anyone who runs into your face and gives you a free hit, they are probably baiting DH/DS. If you're chasing a surv and one 'just happens' to run in front of you, ignore them, it wasn't an accident it was bait.

Chase the weakest link. Tunnel them if you have to, but focus instead of making people think you're going to tunnel them and the other teammates will often panic and run over to try stopping you. Playing a little pretend goes a long way. Avoid slugging unless you know what you are doing with it. If your ######### :tm: gets slugged to apply pressure to the others however, that's just valid tactics.

3 - Stop kicking every Gen

Kicking gens is typically worthless. It takes too long, does too little, and most survs can break the regress in under three seconds. Don't kick unless you have good reason to believe you can keep them off the gen. Otherwise, ignore that gen and focus on the pursuits. Your kick is going to slow them down 3 seconds, which they have to spare if you're running around kicking gens. Self-defeating.

    4 - ABC

Always Be Chasing. You want to camp this gen? No you don't, go chase. You want to secure 3 gen? No you don't, go chase. You want to teach that teabagger a lesson? No you don't, go chase. Your only desire in life is now the chase.

Once you learn who to not chase, it should be your goal to find the weakest links of their team and chase them with such constancy that you can hear them on the other side of the country crying in frustration. Do not let them go. Run them down like dogs, or they will run the gens down like dogs.

    5 - No Surrenders

Someone gave up mid chase and you want to let them go? No, you don't. If they just started standing still, you hook them. I get the desire for empathy but remember they aren't giving up on you, they're giving up on their teammates. It's not a kindness to anyone to just let them go when they do this.

Unless you're going to let whoever crouches at you go, then don't do this. Same for AFK's. You're not doing anyone a favor in encouraging the AFK behavior by letting them go. Hook them. Continue. The people you should be ready to let go are the people who played well.

Just my rules and takes. Don't know if this'll help.

    Thanks!

The downvotes are coming from a bunch of anonymous people who don’t play killer and thus will offer no actual suggestions to help you improve your killer gameplay. It’s just the same “us vs them” stuff that prevents constructive discussions about how both sides can get better at the game. Thankfully, some people who actually want to help have provided some very good suggestions instead of downvote bombing you.

True. The us vs them mentality is so annoying. It's why I try playing survivor a bit more now.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/467166/what-am-i-supposed-to-do-against-super-efficient-survivors

Best way is to find ways of applying pressure. Identify which gens are being focused on and make sure you keep presence around them. Run good regression. Try to keep chases around the gens to discourage ppl working on them. Hooking near gens you are defending is also tactically helpful, allows you to both prevent gen work and proxy camp to get hits from unhook attempts and help you snowball.

Pain res/dms is great for this, it's hands free regression and immediately identifies which gens you want to put pressure on.

Another one is to identify which gens you can afford to lose. If you can force a 3 gen it'll make things much easier late game. Losing gens early isn't a huge issue unless the survs manage to split the gens. You can snowball well late game as long as you don't have two separate clusters of gens you have to keep traipsing between.

OMG thanks a lot this is actually pretty helpful!

  • @guest2w said:

Hooking them will allow them to activate a lot of powerful perks (fun fact: anti tunneling perks hurt non tunnellers more than tunnellers when the survivor team wants it to (the rule, not the exception)) and is inefficient, I recommend slugging survivors (if your using a strong killer) cuz 3 survivors will usually not be doing gens then, one on the ground dying, one going for the save, and you chasing someone, bonus points for use of ruin.

Slugging has given me time to do literally anything instead of nothing, it has slowed down my games significantly.

I mean, sure. Though I might mix it up, slug when I think I need to otherwise hook survivors.

I hear you on that and understand where concerns like that can come from. While I can't promise you specific timelines, I can promise that I'm here to make sure the team gets a clear idea of what folks like you are feeling. For that, I'd love to dig into the specifics with you: When you say that balance is broken right now, is there something (or somethings) specific that's at the core of this for you?

I understand folks' bigger-picture concerns and worries about diminishing returns impacting build crafting, but if there are specific combos causing you friction or perks you feel have been especially impacted, I'd love to get your POV!

Well. It's not like something is BROKEN broken, but it's that diminishing returns in it's current state can be a bit sticky I guess. I mean like, some perks would need to be buffed since they don't do something super insane and only really work if you are making a build specified around that thing. I can't say a SPECIFIC perk that is like this at the moment, but I know for a fact that there are loads of perks that will basically become even more useless due to diminishing returns in it's current state, since it's not worth bringing alone when there are better options, so no one will bring them. Really the only perks that need big buffs are those that will be hit hardest from diminishing returns.

From what I understand, diminishing returns wants players to explore builds way more than just using 4 haste perks and going super fast, and instead encourage players to be a bit more creative with their builds. Instead of focusing on having pure haste a player can run STBFL, that one xeno perk that gives haste after you M1 someone, and something like bamboozle, thus making a really good chase build. I like that idea. Sadly currently it pushes a bit too hard and might push players into using the basic meta.

I feel that there are hundreds of survivor perks that need buffs because they are basically useless compared to the best perks, which is honestly pretty sad to me. I want to see these fun perks in matches, but there is no point using them because the Meta perks are 100X better.

Also some buffs to niche killer perks would be really nice to, like human greed. It could be buffed and reworked into a really fun perk.

  • @ThatRyanB said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4075489#Comment_4075489

PTBs are definitely an important part of this (and we got a lot of great notes from the last PTB!), but as you alluded to, these only reach one segment of the wider DbD community. PTBs help set the groundwork with feedback, and then player response on Live helps further refine, if necessary.

This should happen pretty quickly because if we are stuck with this for a year or two it would be genuinely the worst thing ever. I beg please don't let this be a super long and drawn out process where the balance will be broken for like 4 years because the devs just forget about it.

  • @ThatRyanB said:

One thing I want to make sure is clear about diminishing returns is that we're not looking at this as a one-and-done change. We're looking at diminishing returns as an ongoing process. This is why it's not being paired with wider perk changes, as I've seen some folks request. When making a broader systems change like this, it's often important to limit the number of simultaneous, linked changes so you can better monitor and understand the impact of the bigger-picture change. Then, equipped with that knowledge, it can help inform whether more granular changes (i.e. perk adjustments) are needed.

We're actively monitoring feedback, so please, play around with diminishing returns and continue to stretch and prod at it. If there are specific things that are causing friction (i.e. perks that feel particularly impacted by this change), let us know and we'll bring it back to the team.

Thats… honestly a good strategy. Though personally, I think having them in PTB's and just monitoring them there and making changes and updates slowly would have been a bit better. Then again many people might not play the PTB which could make it not be as accurate, but still.

  • Does BHVR wanna like… actually address the actual problamatic builds or just kill the least problamatic crap ever so that we get ghoul with Meta EVEN MORE NOW? (<killer main btw)

  • The only way this would be acceptable is if several perks got buffed in an actually meaningful way so that you don't need to stack. Cuz like 5% haste SOMETIMES isn't really that good on it's own. It can be good and get hits that you wouldn't have gotten, but even then it just feels so small.

Also diminishing returns feels a bit too HARSH, I guess. 100%, to 50%, to 25% feels like too much. But I haven't tried it myself.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/465861/trickster-feels-way-stronger-now

trickster got buffed at what he's good at which is shredding in open areas and got even slower so he's weak against shift w and looping

I don't see it I can cut survivors off and most loops aren't that horrible for him. I just mindgame and slowly chip at their laceration until they either leave the loop or get injured. Even then leaving the loop, especially if it's a small one, is an easy injure/down.

  • @Abbzy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4068659#Comment_4068659

Pretty much hiding is good if that killer counters running hard but trickster doesnt and on indoors like his own map he sucks hard (best way for me to play that map is to hold hooks and try to get 2k because these widown loops with hold W synergy are very hard to beat and it costs you a lot of time, sometimes its not even possible without bloodlust but that 30 seconds of no power use to get it and thats a lot of time).

Only thing that feels stronger is when Im basicaly breathing on their neck meaning Im right behind them to knife them down but in chase I dont see him betetr than 115% version because the previous tricksters version didnt even needed knifes all the time he could just use them to get first health state and than use his speed or combinate it with knifes to get survivor unsure if he is going for knifes or m1 and surprise them but this version is all about knifes plus previous version had to hit 2 more knifes but he had more of them and didnt need them to be useable plus for each 8 hit knifes he had main even aviable which was free knifes for some time so he was more harder to loop that this one who takes health faster but thats it old trickster was always behind your butt.

I have played on his map and he ain't that horrible on it. It isn't good but it isn't an instant death explosion you lose.

Maybe it's because I don't really go for kills? Cuz I just get everyone to second hook then let them leave.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4068631#Comment_4068631

It's not about hiding, issue is if you start a chase while survivor has 30 meters ahead of you, they can just hold W and get a good chase by default from that.
Then you have rock loops, where every 4,4 m/s killer is going to struggle.

So you basically get faster down, because of only 6 knives needed, but it brought back classic struggles of slower killer.

I haven't had an issue with any of these in all of my games so far. Excluding the first games when the update first released.

Rock loops are easy to mind game due to them usually being very thin, even then running them down isn't impossibly. Prerunning hasn't happened once.

  • @jasonq500 said:

I genuinely feel like all he needed was give him 8 extra knives

Cause currently trick pouch (one of his add-on) fixes the current issue I have with the trickster as 36 knives is way too low especially since he moves at 4.4 movement speed

I didn't even use trick pouch for most of my games and I still kept popping off.

  • @Shroompy said:

As a long time Trickster player I can confidently say he is stronger but you definitely have to be locked in and hit your knives. Not only do you have less of them but you're not getting main event every half a second allowing you to mindlessly spam.

Now, is he stronger in the sense where he can now compete with the strongest killers in the game? No, but he doesn't have to because not all killers need to be S tier. In the end they made him much more rewarding to play with more skill expression and with that, a lot more fun. The only things I would like to see changed are a revert to his knife count, reduce or remove the extra slow down from consecutive throws, and fix that god awful S rank visual for the survivor point of view. Its ugly ah hell.

The message above no clue why it didn't quote you.

  • Fair, also bloodied boa or whatever that one addon was called is actually finally good.

  • @PetTheDoggo said:

It depends, Trickster is better at the point when he gets close to survivors, but if survivors play against him safe and prerun, then there is not much you can do to win that game.

It will be slightly better now when decay starts later, so you can try to get some long range shots…

To be honest I don't really worry about that much cuz I run Ultimate Weapon and Darkness Revealed so survivors can't run away and hide from me.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4065484#Comment_4065484

That's...okay you may just have a big misunderstanding what tunneling is. If person A is hooked, then person B is hooked, then person A is hooked, that is literally the complete opposite of tunneling.

Going after the same person and ignoring other viable targets is tunneling. By going for a completely different target, it immediately eliminates tunneling from the scenario.

You probably right but then that's fricking stupid why would you not go for the slowdown of having slugs if you want more time in a match??? Do other killers literally play like that expecting to win????

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4065484#Comment_4065484

Yeah I know I call that semi-tunneling most people just don't agree with that statement to them tunneling is hard tunneling not what you are describing but still even that tactic can cost you as you will not pressure others and they can do what they want.

    eeh fair enough.

  • Another thing. Tunneling isn't just specifically "Go after one person until they die", just hooking someone 3 times in a row counts as tunneling. Hooking someone, then hooking someone else, then tunneling out the previous hooked survivor is also tunneling. This is not to say "Tunneling bad ):<", same way I don't (At least I don't mean to) say "Gen rush bad ):<".

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4065473#Comment_4065473

Ok but there is no emotion behind my statement if you read something in it then you are projecting your own feelings into it or something. I already explained that it does not really do that it only works on certain cases like any tactic can but in the long run they will not win with it constantly its not tactic that can keep you winning even how much some people might think so. I don't really get what you try to say with your good tunneling example as how can you be tunneling and then not tunneling? Either you tunnel or you don't there is no inbetween.

I win by that myself quite often have had no problems with it. Just play the game and it happens. Are you trying to rile me up as first you claim I am emotional and now question if I play killer? I don't really care either way but my statement stands and anything you just said did not really make a dent to it.

Fair enough. No I was not trying to rile you up and honestly, it might have sounded like that and sorry that it did. But I still think killers tunnel to deal with gen speeds and a lot of people agree with me on that.

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what killer do you play the most?

  • @Wezqu said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4065469#Comment_4065469

Except tunneling does no way help them. I have seen so many tunneling killers who lose the match because they keep chasing one guy and the others just fix the gens. If they never do any pressure on gens so of course the gens will fly. Tunneling is not a solution to it and its just an excuse for people who want to justify why they tunnel. They could have the backbone to just do the tunneling and not invent reasons why they do it when in reality they are doing it because they want to do it no other real reason. They make the intentional choice to do it so just own it no need to claim there really is some reason to it. Its also interesting when they run perks that would help them if they spread the hooks like Pain Resonance but as they keep chasing the same guy they don't really get value out of it.

Please calm down you seem a tad bit worked up here. Sorry you feel that way.

The thing is, it does benefit them though, that's why they keep doing it. Sometimes they commit way too hard to the tunneling, but there are a lot of killers who know how and when to tunnel and keep the pressure up. A bad way to tunnel is going out of your way to SEEK out one survivor, a good way is to put pressure until you see the survivor. Camping is another thing that can help and also slugging.

How many matches have you seen where the killer wins because they equally spread hooks among everyone? Not incredibly often right? Only S-tier killers can really play like that.

    Do you play killer btw?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Survivor Gen Progression Perks are not good. And this include buffed Fast Track.

And you did not even say anything to the point I made - why buff one of the most used Perks instead of one of the weak Perks nobody runs to have some variety?

To the first part. Isn't that like objectively false? I am not trying to be rude but like… gen speeds are a big issue in DBD.

Like… it's the reason killers tunnel and slug now. That or they are toxic but saying the majority of tunneling/slugging killers do it to be toxic is just simply ignorance.
Don't get me wrong I am not saying "Survivor doing gen fast is bad and evil and toxic grrr ):<". But also having 3 gens pop in back to back in the first chase right after the first injure is just kind of absurd, especially when the chase started in the first seconds of the trial.

  • Fast track is extremely OP. Not possibly by itself, but combine that with gen speed perks and a brand new part + weaving spiders(I think its called?) and the killers gets HEAVILY punished for playing their role. Which will encourages killers to slug, possibly tunnel, and play with the same boring gen slowdown builds with the strongest killers in the game. I get the idea but rewarding survivors with this perk for hooking a survivor is absurd and will be miserable once it becomes meta.

  • I cleared up my head and thought a little about it throughout the day and now I think I know exactly what went wrong with trickster, so I hope this is helpful for the devs. I may be wrong but hear me out on this.

I think what happened with trickster is that they basically bumped the skill floor (I believe you call it. Sorry if im using that word wrong) really high. A trickster main/someone who plays enough trickster to be above the NEW skill floor this will feel like a buff. This is because they know what blades will hit and the geometry and when to pull the blades up or put them down, when to reload, so on and so fourth.
I'll be honest, I really like this approach. Part of me thinks that the intentions were actually really good this time; make trickster express more skill and be harder to learn, but once you learn him you can be really good. Also pushing him to use his ability more by making M1's not as affective.

However, here is where it went wrong in my opinion. They made the "skill floor" WAAAYY too high, making it miserable to play for most players as long as they are below that skill floor, making it harder to actually learn the character, and just making people not wanna play him due to how difficult he actually is now. You have to rely on blades way more as a newer trickster player, and at this point you don't really know how the blades work, when to pull them up or put them down, what blades will actually hit survivors, so on and so fourth. So what happens is that you can't really get value out of anything anymore and you are punished way too hard for not being good at him. Which as I said pushes people away from playing the character to begin with.

This is not to say there aren't any actual issues with him now. There still is issues (Like treating him like huntress even though he isn't even remotely like huntress at all) with his base kit.

I have genuinely not had a worse time playing killer in my life.

I wanna love trickster and I really wanna play him more. But in his current state it took a total of 2 matches for me to instantly give up because it's genuinely so hard to play him. I am not saying he is horrible, he just has a huge skill ceiling, but there is a difference between a killer with a big skill ceiling and then just feeling awful to learn.
