  • @kling_

Are you aware that in case you get genrushed but still manage to get a 4k you can still depip and displease the entity? Any thoughts on that?

  • I agree that playing against a team that is optimal at genrush that manage to pop three gens in 3 minutes is boring as hell and there's nothing you can do to stop it unless you manage to take someone out of the game as soon as you can, because it's easier when it comes down to 3 vs 1. You'd have a better chance against these teams playing with high mobility killers such as Spirit and Billy, even Wraith with some very good add ons.

  • I am a rank 5 killer. I've been playing a lot with Michael lately because I got a lot of petals with him. I play against red ranks often and most of the matches I played against red ranks have been extremely hard when I've played as Michael; I could barely pressure the gens and in most of the matches I felt helpless. Once I used all the petals I had with him I decided to use the petals I got with Spirit. Well, guess what, I didn't feel like I could barely pressure the gens anymore and I didn't feel helpless at all, actually I felt like I was actually playing the so called "power role" in this game. Haven't played her for months, because I prestiged her and I finally got the perks I want just a couple of weeks ago.

And in case you think this information is relevant; it's not like a get a 4k or 3k everytime I play Spirit, but the fun I had playing against red ranks as Spirit compared to the fun I had playing as Michael is abysmal. Too bad she is getting nerfed. I can imagine how it must've felt when nurse got nerfed.

At this point I'm really starting to care less and less about rank and about my opponents fun, because it certainly isn't fun to be killer in this game once you play against red ranks, unless you play as Spirit or Billy.

I've already said on this forum that I have more hours as survivor and that's because I feel like playing survivor is much less demanding than playing killer in this game. I am a rank 4 solo survivor and I can play multiple matches in a row without feeling any real pressure on me. I don't know, my own experience with the game playing both sides and finding survivor gameplay easier and much more relaxing makes me wonder who the real "power role" is here and how balanced the game really is.

That's why I hate playing with SWF teams and their comms and hate when they invite me to their discord servers to "make the game easier", like if it wasn't easy enough already ffs.

    End of rant.

  • This would make Michael pretty much less viable at red ranks. No.

  • In my opinion, some things should change depending on which rank you are on. For example, and this is just an idea; hex skill checks and great skill checks should be removed if you are a red rank. Also some add ons and items should become unavailable if you are a red rank survivor and a red rank killer.

Maybe not the best ideas in the world, but I think it's a good idea that some game mechanics change depending on rank.

  • Playing against and with optimal SWF teams.

Id like to point out, a lot of redrank killers DONT use hex:ruin. People are overblowing this video to enormous proportions, because this ######### happens maybe once in a thousand games, from only the most experienced teams, or when the killer is afk/trolling

When I play m1 killers who do not have high mobility and can't apply too much pressure genrush happens at least 3 out of 5 games at red ranks.

I know a guy who plays solo and runs mettle of man, everytime I've played with him he constantly takes protection hits to activate the perk. He doesn't seem to struggle activating MoM (I think he runs selfcare along with it) and I've witnessed how it has saved his life at the exit gates a few times. I think MoM is fine in its current state.

I recently recorded a video while playing with him, I'll put it here when I upload it.

Here, you can see Meg taking several hits and then healing.

You can't see how MoM saved her life at the exit gates, but it did. Trust me. I would encourage you to run MoM along with a medkit and selfcare and share your experiences.

  • Use add ons that allow you to teleport from great distances.

Put a trap in your totem.

Then put a trap in places survivors tend to go through.

    Put traps in long loops.

Put a trap in front of the person who is hooked.

If you hook someone in the basement put a trap in front of the hook, on the stairs and on the killer shack entrances.

I mean the scoring . BT should not give safe unhook in the scoring event.

No, it shouldn't. You just wait 15 seconds before hitting the survivor who got unhooked and in case he has already used his ds he's dead. Nice try tho.

  • I personally think they are both trash at red ranks if you aren't playing as top tier killers or as killers with high mobility. I usually play m1 killers because most killers are just m1 killers (I don't have a killer main, I like to play with every killer available) and I'm still trying to find a way to make them more viable at red ranks. Ruin and corrupt do not seem to be good enough in my opinion, specially when you get to play in maps that are too big.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes I manage to get a 2k, 3k or even a 4k, but I also get stomped more frequently with killers like Trapper, Clown and Michael.

  • What was his rank? Sounds like he might've been between purple and green ranks.

i just went against it for the first time, and all 4 escaped. He couldn't catch anyone for 3 gens at the start so he couldn't get any stacks of dying light nor thana from it.

Nice work. That makes me wonder if it's better playing stealthy against him, unless there's someone in your team that is optimal at looping and keeping the killer distracted for two minutes.

  • No, I want killer buffs, at least buff them when you go against red ranks, because most killers are usually ######### against red rank survivors.

  • In my opinion, going against a slowdown Freddy is boring and frustrating as hell, you barely feel you are making any progress as survivor. I still haven't been able to escape from that build. Anyone else has?

  • While I agree his is a bit annoying specially when ruin is active with those random skill checks appearing in different all over the screen; he is one of the few killers I actually find scary to go against mostly because he looks scary and is creepy as hell and it feels like he han torment you even when you are not in a chase with him. He is the closest killer I'd consider to be closer to psychological horror, which is the horror genre I enjoy the most. I wish they didn't nerf him or anything. I don't know if he needs a buff, be he definetly doesn't deserve a nerf, because I've been able to escape and power the gates many times when going against doc.

  • Kill them all, unless someone offered bps. After all "Merciless killer" is the best you can be as killer, so go for it, be a merciless #########.

  • In the end it's your choice. Play the way you wanna play. I personally stay near the hook when I hook the third survivor if the hatch is right next to it to get the 4k. You invest time and effort while playing, I don't see why you would invest them in your opponents favour.

  • The only way I've been able to counter gen rush when playing against red ranks is when by mere coincidence I happen to come across the first survivor I hooked early in the game multiple times and take him out of the match. So basically I've been able to counter genrush by doing something similar to genrush, which is sacrificing one survivor as fast as you can, because it's a lot easier to pressure 3 people when there are only two gens left.

  • I play solo all the time and I don't have any problems; sometimes I escape and sometimes I die, but even if I die I pip or black pip most of time: plus my death isn't in vain many times because it buys my team time to power up the exit gates or open them and escape and I'm okay with that because we were playing as a team, if at least one manages to escape it feels like a win to me.

I don't know how you play, but I tend to always change my last perk slot to run things like bond and kindred and I always run we'll make it. I'm planning on running detective's hunch now that it has been buffed

If you are struggling playing solo I advice you to run perks like bond, kindred and better together on your last perk slot and always run we'll make it, that's an amazing perk.

  • I think I understand where you are coming from, but it's on the survivor for being grabbed when trying to unhook someone.

Survivors tend to run to the hook and running leaves scratch marks that the killer can see. If the killer returns to the hook to find you there trying to unhook your team mate just don't do it, run away and be a distraction so that someone else can unhook the survivor safely. I'm tired of survivors taking a hit to unhook me, that most of the time leads to switch places. Yeah, thanks for unhooking me and switching place with me, but that doesn't help our team.

    What do you think?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/815804#Comment_815804

I think that's correct. The game is entirely designed around the idea of an entertaining game. Your job as both killer and survivor is to draw it out as long as possible to earn as many points as you can. That's how the game represents how "entertaining" you were.

That system also promotes more fun for everyone in the game and is a much healthier match with less toxicity.

I understand. I can only see high mobility killers such as nurse, wraith, spirit and billy to adjust better to the current ranking system, because they are very good to move across the map and apply pressure. Sadly that isn't the case for killers such as trapper, michael or clown, so the ranking system seems to benefit both killers and survivors in terms of rank and bp mostly when the killer is playing killers with high mobility.

To be honest I think I'd rather see the ranking system changed. From what I've read I understand that you can get a 4k at red ranks with trapper but still depip for not applying enough map pressure and having gens pop too fast. With that being said I'm starting to think that it would be healthy if the requierments to pip, safety pip or depip were different depending on which killer you are playing, because I understand how frustrating it can be to manage to get a 4k with low tier killers at red ranks and still depip.

Downing the unhooked Survivor for DS to work doesn't mean you're some godly player by any means. It just means you're playing in a generally viewed as scummy way that even the devs are trying to get Killers away from doing with little perks like Make Your Choice, Babysitter, and DS.

I know what you mean. But I am not talking about tunneling, I'm talking about being to efficient at finding survivors and ending chases, you don't need to tunnel anyone to get hit by a ds or come across someone who has ds active.

  • @Feyd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/815790#Comment_815790

First, NOED is a thing and punishes gen rushing. Second, survivors are punished by no unhooks, no chase score, and likely depip if all they do are gens.

Yeah, I already talked about noed. I'll just copy and paste.

(...)as far as I can tell judging by my own experience, genrush hardly ever happens at low ranks and noed is almost never used at high ranks. And because ds is also much more common at high ranks. You seem like an experienced player, so I think you know what I'm talking about, unless we've got completely different experiences with the game; like killers usually running noed at high ranks and survivors genrushing and ds being much more common at lower ranks.

(...)I'd swear noed is hardly ever used at high ranks and that genrush hardly ever happens at lower ranks and that the ones who are usually optimal at genrush are the red ranks.

I actually have another account I use to play with my low rank friends; they really can't hit hex skill checks and great skill checks, genrush is very uncommon when I play with them. I also tend to run across killers running noed more often when I play with them and tunneling seems to be more efficient when I play with my low rank friends, because for some reason lower ranks don't usually run ds or seem to struggle with the skillcheck.

    --

Edit: About depips, I've heard that killers can also depip if they somehow manage to end the match too fast slugging everyone or something like that. I personally think something is not right with the current ranking system. Any thoughts on that?

  • @thesuicidefox said:

If you got DS'ed you aren't playing optimally, it's really that simple. Survivors with DS will bait you into using it or play super risky when it's active. Therefore anytime you think you outplayed a survivor with DS more than likely they LET YOU out play them so they can hit you with DS.

The optimal play against DS is to slug.

Yeah, I understand that and I think you missed my point; do not focus so much on ds, focus on what I'm saying; If a killer is good at finding survivors and good at ending chases he would be able to rush through kills if it wasn't for the current state of ds, but it's the current state of ds that forces you tu slug survives and wait a a few seconds before you can hook them again.

What I'm saying is that survivors are able to rush through gens while killers are not able to rush through kills. How do you feel about that?

I'm not asking how to deal with ds.

  • @shalo said:

I did ask, the escapee replied, someone getting trapped twice in the same trap is "tunnelling". Sadly no answer to my question about Trapper tactics.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/222/8RU2IJ9BIKNX.jpg

lmao traps can tunnel now, that's just ######### amazing. Well, like someone else said; it's your job as a killer to entertain the entity and not to kill survivors as fast as you can, maybe that's also what survivor mains want. Maybe Nea is the entity after all.

  • Maybe a small buff. I've played against a lot of Plagues that run thana and they seem to get genrushed faster than any other killer if nobody cleanses.

  • So, let me get this straight; with the current way the ranking system works being a red rank killer consists on farming as much as you can before killing survivors? That may entertain the entity but sounds boring as hell to me as a player.

Let's talk about that; players, they are the ones playing the game after all.

It's not that hard to predict if you are going to get hit by ds. If you downed them too early , just slug. If you suspect their ds is still active, just wait a bit before picking them up. I rarely get hit by ds when I play killer, it is really easy to avoid ds in most scenarios.

I know, that's why I said slugging is a solution to avoid a ds, but that's not the point, don't focus so much on ds, focus on what I say about killers having more difficulties to end the game faster while survivors (at least the red ranks) don't have to struggle as much to end the game as fast as they can. Survivors can rush through gens while killers can't really rush through sacrifices. Now, why is that? Do you have an answer to that?

And how do you feel about that?

  • @Mochan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814730#Comment_814730

Well your experience doesn't jive with mine and a ton of other players.

Genrush happens at most ranks, and NoEd is used at all ranks. And teams do genrush at various ranks and get hit with NoEd when they do. This is an indisputable truth, whether you deny it in your experience.

It is a fact that Survivors who genrush and neglect do all the totems get punished by NoEd. This happens in the game. This has happened many times to me, and it has happened countless times to others who play this game. If you need evidence, just do a search for NoEd here and you'll see the hundreds of posts complaining about NoEd.

And it's irrelevant what rank it happens at. It happens. So Survivors do get punished for being too optimal, just like Killers.

I'm actually surprised if that's the case. I'd swear noed is hardly ever used at high ranks and that genrush hardly ever happens at lower ranks and that the ones who are usually optimal at genrush are the red ranks.

I actually have another account I use to play with my low rank friends; they really can't hit hex skill checks and great skill checks, genrush is very uncommon when I play with them. I also tend to run across killers running noed more often when I play with them and tunneling seems to be more efficient when I play with my low rank friends, because for some reason lower ranks don't usually run ds or seem to struggle with the skillcheck.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/814399#Comment_814399

Okay, so how about you not ignore the part where I said Survivors are also punished if they do gens too fast by NoED?

Or is too inconvenient for the narrative you're trying to tell, and you have no answer for it?

I didn't say anything about that, because, as far as I can tell judging by my own experience, genrush hardly ever happens at low ranks and noed is almost never used at high ranks. And because ds is also much more common at high ranks. You seem like an experienced player, so I think you know what I'm talking about, unless we've got completely different experiences with the game; like killers usually running noed at high ranks and survivors genrushing and ds being much more common at lower ranks.

  • It's not really a complaint. It's an argument I'm using to prove that survivors who want to do gens as fast they can to end the game as fast as possible don't care about bp as much as they care about getting out of there or "stomping the killer".

Edit: And why do you call me a killer anyway? I'm not a killer main. I play both sides and I have more hours as survivor.

  • @OmegaXII said:

I will soon have 9k shards again.. which one is most fun to play as?

I think Hag is better but I have more fun with Legion, because I find it a bit tedious to put traps over and over again all over the map.

  • @arslaN said:

How do you feel about killers being punished for tunnelling?

    Fixed for you.

If you are really too optimal, you should have no trouble catching them again.

You can get hit by a ds even if you don't tunnel anyone, I think you missed my point.

  • @Mochan said:

Survivors also get punished for being too optimal.

You're not getting pips or BP if you are stomping the killer. It's the exact same thing.

If you want to argue DS punishes killer for killing too fast, then NoEd punishes survivors for gening too fast.

    Get over it.

Judging by how fast survivors try to make gens (some of them don't even bother healing) I don't think they care about bp as much as they care about "stomping the killer" or simply getting out of there as fast as possible.

I don't think it's the same thing at all because of what I just said and because that punishment would be a post game punishment that doesn't affect the outcome of what you are trying to achieve; get out as fast as you can.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

getting hit by decisive isn't frustrating I know what I signed up for

Fine, but would you admit that getting hit by a ds because you are too good doesn't make it easier for you while making gens as fast as possible does make it easier for he survivors? If so, how do you feel about that?

  • In the current state of the game I think it is healthy to bring a mori whenever you can. Ruin gone in 30 seconds? Mori. Abusing ridiculous loops? Mori. Got hit by a ds even when you didn't tunnel anyone? Mori. Survivors bodyblocking you so you can't make it to a hook? Drop the survivor and use the mori.

I would also tell you to mori people who use instaheals in your face, but that's already been nerfed.

  • You need to become familiarized with the maps and with survivor movement; the scratch marks can be a hint to where the survivor is trying to get to, you can even get to the pallet or window the survivor wants to get to before he or she does if you make the correct read following the scratchmarks. Once you become familiarized with this, she is a beast. Best killer in the game in my opinion.

Welcome to dbd, the worst community of any game

Not sure if it's the worst, but it's definetly the worst I've experienced through my whole life.

  • I have two theories; maybe this type of game attracts a lot of weirdos with sadistic tendencies or the game is just so unbalanced and poorly designed that it manages to get the worst out of people who are trying to be competitive. Maybe the toxicity is a combination of both things.

  • Yeah, welcome to one of the most toxic gaming communities that exist.

  • That's a pretty good job. The default chase music doesn't sound like horror to me. Every killer should have his/her own chase music. It would add more personality to them, more variety to the game and make the game scarier if done right.

  • Let's get real. I don't think they will do that. There's still a lot of money that can me made with this game; dlc's, skins, rifts. They will make a new game when people stop playing and paying for those. When do you think that will happen?

  • I may be wrong, but I blame this skill gap on red ranks because of SWF, some people just get carried to red ranks by their 3 red rank friends.

  • Let me guess, you are proxy camping the hooks and going after the person who was just unhooked? I might be wrong, but that was the reason I got a lot of hate when I started playing the game and was still trying to figure out how to play.

  • I find some games to become more interesting if the killer has noed, it's boring when gens pop too fast. The exciting part comes when you have to look for that totem so everyone can escape safely.

With that being said and with the current state of gen speed and how easy it is to power the exit gates if you are playing with a coulpe of decent or optimal survivors, I don't have a problem with noed from a survivor perspective.

  • The killer has about 7 minutes to find survivors and do 12 chases, unless you happen to run across survivors you've alreasy hooked and take them out of the match quickly. You do the math.

Also remember that you as killer get punished with frustration if you are too efficient finding survivors and ending chases; you'll get hit by a ds even if you don't tunnel anyone.

  • The killers are allowed to have OP stuff because it's 1 vs 4.

I only find ebony mori to be too overpowered. It should be nerfed to two kills or removed.
