I think the devs are 'okay' with it because it brings in players. So long as that's the case, they won't make any solid effort to balance it out. Actions speak louder than words, after all, and their actions are pretty lacking.
In all honesty, I don't think the devs can, or will, ever be able to balance it out. The game simply is not designed for the level of coordination it brings, yet they can't axe it, or they'll drive a good chunk of their playerbase away. Rock and hard place situation. Now, they 'could' bring solos up, and buff killers following. We saw with Kindred that it can work.
But these are some of the slowest developers I've ever seen. Weeks, months, years between balance changes, and even when changes do come, half the time it's half cocked and not even what the game needs. So, any genuine effort put into balancing swf, and bringing the rest of the game up to it, is pretty much a pipe dream, unfortunately.
The reason they seem to be okay with it seems to be because there is no way to battle it. If they took peoples claims that so and so were using mics they would have to start banning based of heresy and that would result in a huge mess.
They can't really buff solo because in turn they will buff the perks SWF use making them that much stronger. Yes they could buff killers but then that would make solo players weaker. You are right they are stuck between a rock and hard place.
I am not against voice chat but if added it really needs to be done right. =)

@Wylesong When you repost someone's thoughts and this --> "You have no perspective, and are part of the group think mentality. I may not agree with that guy, but I do respect him cause at least he had his own thoughts that he could put into words instead of regurgitating someone elses thoughts..
You are right I am a clueless person who just regurgitates other peoples words that I believe in. I also am done trying to prove because in the end of the day you make a point there is no right answer so what is the point of forums are a debate. Not all the perks you have listed are relevant. Not going to lie though, they could all do with some changes, but I'll specify the ones that I meant in my post.
All survivor perks that are designed to help you know where other survivors are will need to be changed, such as Empathy and Kindred. Using voice chat completely negates them since you can just ask where your team mates are. But overall, I think the change would definitely be worth it. Loads more perks might become useful, maybe even viable, and would be a welcome addition to the stale meta perks we currently have.
As for stealth killers, their gimmick has usually been that they're good at landing the first hit on a survivor due to their power, but have difficulty downing them efficiently. Since every other survivor in the trial knows when another survivor has been injured already thanks to the status icons I don't think this will be a big problem.
I'm not completely against the idea of having a proximity chat. Perhaps a walkie talkie or something could be added as an item to speak over range? I'm not really sure. But I absolutely think that even the bare minimum of these changes would do the game a world of good.
I thought the same thing I am not against voice chat but within reason. I mean they could make a walkie talk perk. Also Spine chill and even Premonition are relevant and used by many solo survivors. I for one use spine chill and that is how I tell my partners who are working on a gen with me it is time to hide. =)

It was unfair in the beginning of the game, it is not anymore.
Not when you have a full array of tracking perks.
So you are saying in order for it to be fair for the killer they must take the perks best suited for SWF teams? They cannot use other perks and should use all tracking perks? I mean I have seen many videos of people going against SWF teams and it is crazy unfair. I guess you may be right though maybe do away with useless killer perks and just use vision perks. Good bye NOED thank god lol

Both sides have received nerfs...and if one side receives more nerfs then the other it's usually because that side is in a stronger position then the other.
I'm sure you'd struggle to give me an example of a survivor Nerf that wasn't needed.
If all these entitled killer mains got what they wanted then where are they? And why are survivor queue times so long?
Survivor que time is not long for me and in fact I can get a game in less than 2 or 3 minutes so maybe it is the platform you play on.
You fail to understand my point. Yes both sides receive nerfs but most survivor nerfs these days are related to people who use mics abusing certain perks. This makes the killer complain making it harder for solo survivors to play. My point is not to take one side or the other but for a killer main to say survivors are entitled is just as bad as a survivor main to say killers are entitled. I agree there are nerfs on both sides so in my opinion there is no biased from the developers. Also sorry I cannot recall EVERY nerf and buff but if you can please by all means provide me with a list. I will look one up online and come back with something soon I hope just to help you out.
Also tip of the day if que times are long try at peak times of the day or try another platform. =)

I am rank 1 killer and survivor, but playing killer is more stressful than playing as a survivor. how a survivor it is very easy to escape and it is boring because the killers suffer from genrush and prefer not to play anymore and that is why the bad matches red ranks of survivors against green or yellow ranges of killers, i believe all it happened since the ruin was fixed before it was funny try to find the ruin and break it always the killers tryed to defend it but nowadays a lot of genrush it's a waste of time break totems etc. or you What do you think about it because I am sure that there are less red rank killers and bad matchmaking?
It is certainly not a waste of time to break totems. I now see NOED in the spot that Hex Ruin was and many people think that way now. Let's not waste time on totems and it bites them in the butt. lol

Voice chat should have been added into the game long ago. In dbd's inception it wasn't designed with it in mind, but so many perks are completely invalidated by simple communication between survivors that it hardly seems worth it to keep to this bizarre design decision.
In short, voice chat should be added and all knowledge/awareness perks should be rebalanced accordingly.
That seems like a ton of work just to add voice chat to a game. I mean there is many and I do mean MANY vision perks for survivors. Spine Chill, Kindred, Premonition, Alert, Babysitter, Breakdown, Dark Sense, and Object of Obsession. You want them all reworked and balanced so people can talk on mic?
What about it being unfair to the killer who can no longer sneak because a person can stalk them and report his location at all times? That is more of the real issue with voice chat. If it worked more like Friday the 13th where you could only hear each other when near each other that would not be so bad but, being able to have a survivor on each corner and still talk and inform each other where the killers location is will be to unfair to the killer. I could simply say to you SirCracken killer coming your way go hide and then you could hide and you tell us when the killer leaves you and so on and so forth. That is the real reason mic chat is to strong. Also the game was not built with that in mind. I have no problem with the way it is now.

oh, I’ve had plenty of people running right at me recently... if I’m Doctor for example and they don’t wanna play they just let me hook them and die instantly
I do not like to play against the doctor. I know when i was learning to play killer the doctor went from harder killer to use to well this is easy. I mean as the doctor you have survivors screaming giving their location away and if not that you can see your hallucinations. I mean he is a bit strong and hard to deal with.
I know, I know if you bring calm spirit you wont yell but you never know what killer you are dealing with until it is to late. I do not blame people for killing themselves and requeing in hopes for a different killer. I know I do it once in a while when I see doctor. It depends on my mood if I am up for the challenge or just flat out am like NOPE NOT DOING THIS CRAP. It makes it even harder on levels like the Asylum or Hawkins Lab to deal with the doctor. You almost can never get out of his range. lol

So what is changed? Nothing. Killer get less points. Survivors get a difficult game.
Pretty good job so far DEVS.
I do this myself because sometimes I see the killer is a killer I cannot stand and would rather reque then waste my time. If i see easy mode DOC then expect me to throw myself on the hook. I also do this if I assume the killer brought a mori. If keys are to overpowered as people say so are those and I like to see a killer bring them and not get to use them. Sorry I am mean I guess.

The point I was making is that if all survivor teams had voice comms through the game (versus 3rd party software or cell phones) than SWF would not have an advantage over solo que survivors since everyone could be on a mic if they chose to. Then there wouldn't be such a huge disparity between SWF and solo que and the game would have more reliable balance point, provided the devs ever made an effort to balance the game.
You make a point but the game was not built to have voice chat. If you give everyone the SWF ability you could do away with perks like Spine Chill and Kindred and many more. You would also have a VERY hard time finding a killer that want's to deal with people who have constant communication and vision on the killer. I mean imagine playing ghost face built on stealth but 1 of the survivors is stalking you letting his team know the whole time your location. It would just make the game unbalanced for killers and that is the bigger fear that killers would just stop playing. Why is it so hard to play a 15 minute round while not talking to friends and then laugh about the match after like I do with my friends? If i really need to play a game with voice chat then I have F13. There is more options without needing to change this game.

Wow, quite a mouthful, and I want my wasted time reading it back. How about providing proof of what you claim, because I am going to gesture you towards the patch notes threads: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/pc . That disproves all the bs - whoever you took that from - spewed.
The dev's never, and I repeat "NEVER" balanced this game for SWF. They refuse to, and they will not, because they expect the game to be played as a 1v1 scenario with survivors prioritizing survival over actually being a team. However to survive they need to help the other survivors out to have a chance against this bigger entity. Which they repeat over and over again. The only reason they don't ban comms is because it's pratically untraceable, and the majority of claims would be purely by word of mouth.
Honestly it's agravating when I see people copy/paste what other people spew on the forums, without keeping up to date with updates, or looking into the actual past updates. Also not to mention the past doesn't even matter. What matters is the now. Game balance isn't based around give and take, it's based around give or take to make both sides of a spectrum on an equal playing field.
I will say and say again I never once said the Devs have balanced the game for SWF like you stated in the first sentence of your second paragraph. I instead was pointing out how thanks to SWF and the killers that complained about them that survivors got nerf after nerf for sometime which in the long term hurt us solo survivors. It made us people who play the game the way it was built weaker and the killers stronger. It did not make the game balanced around SWF it just made it tougher for people who do not use mics.
"Hence why we got swf, that completely unbalanced the game by creating coordinated survivors that could communicate. The devs have been nerfing survivor ever since and completely crippled solo survivor play."'
I have read and reread my post and the post I have shared from another person and do not see where it says they are even trying to balance the game around SWF. It is simply stating how anyone that plays killer main cries ABOUT the few people that play SWF getting the survivors perks nerfed making it harder for US solo que survivors.
"What has this created? In short. Entitlement. Killer mains know if they whine, they get what they want. "
I suggest maybe rereading and trying to point out the part where it states what you claim. All I see is someone who is trying to point out to killer mains who think that survivors have it easy and as they think we are entitled to think again. It is aggravating when people speed read something and assume they 100% understand what they read. I actually talked with this person and that is what the post is about. It is not about the Devs trying to balance the game around SWF but how when a killer plays against maybe one group out of a month that is on mic they complain and get more nerfs for survivors causing issues for solo survivors.
I will agree though with you on one thing the game is meant to be played without mic's and that is how me and my friends play it. It makes it more fun and fair for everyone involved. The reason the devs claim to be okay with voice chat is because there is no real way to combat it.

Survivormain entitlement demonstrated, gamerpoints scored
You also want to talk about Entitlement, someone else pointed this out about how good killers have it. I am sure you won't read it but I will post it anyway.
"I posted this elsewhere, but you should read it.
Since PC release, killer has been buffed, survivor nerfed. This is important to understand and through examples you’ll see why that has happened. It shows you why the game has had the trajectory it has and why we are now in our current quagmire.
It all started with the introduction of swf and the 2 escapes, 2 kills devs unit of metric. You don’t have to like the metric but it’s whats given the survivors all their nerfs and all the killers current buffs.
The devs failed to understand that people would want to play with friends in an online game at release (serious), what we got was ‘lobby wars’. Where survivors would join different lobbies looking for their friends and leave if they couldn’t find them. It was horrible trying to find games. Hence why we got swf, that completely unbalanced the game by creating coordinated survivors that could communicate. The devs have been nerfing survivor ever since and completely crippled solo survivor play.
Killers now are up around 70% kills due to the trajectory of the game and the devs metric system, unless you feel their metric system is bad, in which case they can undo all the changes I've just mentioned....
It also important to mention marketing and advertising. There’s nothing special about survivors, they are just reskins with some new perks that all play the same. THATS IT. EACH killer has its own unique play style and as you see from their advertising, its always new killers they promote. Survivors get a mention, but its never really the selling point.
DBD reddit, back in the day was all about poking fun at survivors and giving you the impression that every second game is SWF and heavily biased against killers. Which was a lie. OP SWF games are maybe one in 30 games with most swf games being friends who are just wanting to have fun and usually end up wiping. But there was no push back, the killer echo room there would down vote anything survivor sided.
That coupled with the points I mentioned previously meant that a lot of survivor mains left the game. Which is kind of obvious, I mean you understand the devs unit of metric sure, but you just watch nerf, after nerf, after nerf as it all gets taken away. Why would you stay for that? Its kind of miserable.
What has this created? In short. Entitlement. Killer mains know if they whine, they get what they want.
THIS is the environment the devs have created and what you see on the forums.
You have no perspective, and are part of the group think mentality. I understand why it is that you think your right, but as I explained, you're not."
Once again this was posted by someone else but it is a valid point to who has more entitlement. Once again as well I play both sides unlike I guess you so I am not entitled or biased but just point out smart points like this one this person posted.

I just want to play the game how it was designed to be played. SWF is the most frustratingly unfun experience on this game. It's even more rampant on console. To answer the question, i would love a solo queue where you go against nothing but solo's. This would not go down well though with most as people have stated that 'nobody would willingly queue to go against SWF'; yet you see comments from killers saying they have no problem with SWF; so i personally do not see a problem implementing it. Things can't get any worse with queue times right now so why not.
I think killers wouldn't mind going against SWF teams if there was maybe more BP's offered for the challenge. I also like playing the game the way it was built. I have been yelled at by people though saying I must have no friends. I guess playing a game the way it was built equals not having friends and being antisocial. lol I do actually play this game with friends the way it was intended.

Solo queue for killers.
Are you saying there should be an option for killers to pick to go against SWF teams or to go against Solo Survivors? I agree with this option. If the SWF users think it is fair then they should be okay and trust the killers will pick to go against SWF teams but, I do not think people that use mic will like this idea BECAUSE they know no killer wants to deal with this because it is unfair.
If the killer could see that the group they are about to go against are talking on mics there is a good chance you would see a lot of killer dodging games.

Hm a thumbs up system would be cool, but a thumbs down not. Me as a long time veteran Killer main get atleast in every game 1 insult of how trash I "tunnel, camp or slugg". Doesnt matter how you played, every time one of these salty survivors die they will insult you. Sadly these are the majority of the community and they will obviously fluet you with that thumbs down. But the thumbs up is a cool idea honestly, maybe if the devs would add a statistic section for your profile they could combine that with this thumbs up.
There is a website called "Dbd Leaderboards" and that is pretty interesting seeing your stats of how many kills you have with which Killer etc. I wish that could be implemented in the game and also be able to view stats from other players to "brag" abit.
I do not think you should be able to thumbs down the Killers but only if you play survivor. I am just annoyed that in some games I seem to always get the same teammate who doesn't seem to learn or even try. I have had matches where even when I am the first one dead the other play can escape and I still get not just more points but MANY more. At the end you can give fellow survivor thumbs up which means it is a person you would like to see again so why not a thumbs down. I do not think you should be able to thumbs down the killer though. Also thanks for the leader boards things that might be fun to look at.

It is fair to say there's no way they could enforce it, so there's no real way to make is bannable.
However, to say SWF isn't cheating is just a fallacy. The game is in fact not balanced for SWF.
I'm not saying SWF should be done away with or anything of the sort. I'm simply saying the game needs to be balanced around it and that saying it isn't cheating is being disingenuous. Generally speaking, not literal.
"cheat
/CHēt/
verb
gerund or present participle: cheating
1.
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination."
If it is not balanced around it, that is an unfair advantage.
I agree it is the same as cheating and the only reason they say it isn't is because they do not want to make people mad plus they really can't combat it. I just have had many people mad when I called it cheating.

Well I'm not here to points fingers.
I'm here to put data out on the table. Do with it to your hearts desire.
Now. You'll see I did 163 games and not 100. Why? Simple. I wanted 100 games with all red ranks. The other 63 had at least 1 different color rank.
But because it seems to be the communities main concern, I'm only going to mention the "Meta" perks in this thread.
Note: A few games had survivors running no perks or not all four perk slots.
The result of "Meta" perks used by 652 survivors during 163 games follows:
Dead Hard: 286 (43.8%)
Self Care: 121 (18.5%)
Adrenaline: 253 (38.8%)
Unbreakable: 236 (36.1%)
Borrowed Time: 297 (45.5%)
Sprint Burst: 130 (19.9%)
Balanced Landing: 178 (27.3%)
Decisive Strike: 321 (49.2%)
Head On: 165 (25.3%)
Lithe: 137 (21.0%)
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thank you.
Did you also check the killer perks? I am kind of wondering how often NOED got use now that Hex Ruin is dead.

Before any of you post negative comments, I’m just here to say that I’m upset that we have to wait another week to play chapter 15. I’m tired of going against the same boring maps and killers on DBD. You might say “Chill would you rather get a buggy update?” Or “Go play another game” or “Quit crying” but I don’t have to. Just really upset with BHVR I know they didn’t promise us March 3rd but this game needs more at the moment.
You tell us before we tell you to quit crying, you don't have to. Well we don't have to not tell you to stop crying. I am guessing you are young and either use to getting what you want or something around those lines. Patience is a lesson worth learning I guess unless you are rich in life and never have to wait for what you want.
Do you have nothing you can do or play in the meantime while waiting? I mean I to was a little sad I have to wait until the 10th but oh well life goes on. You have me kind of hoping it gets delayed now. hahaha

So I'm playing survivor. It's not going great, a teammate suicides on hook almost instantly and the killer is on my ass. I loop the killer for a considerable amount of time before he gets me and hooks me. Someone comes and saves me and I'm right to getting tunneled, I decide to save my DS and keep looping. Again I manage to loop for a fair amount of time before going down. 3rd time I get unhooked Infront of the killer by a useless solo q teammate who doesn't attempt to bodyblock. I use DS and the chase is back up and we have 2 gens left. I loop for both 2 gens and am actually doing quite well against the killer and have managed to escape many close calls. I go to a pretty powerful loop while someone opens an exit gate and the killer has tunnel vision so he doesn't even care about them. This is fine I think, I can just loop a bit longer and then go through the gate... That was until a useless teammate comes and stands in the corner of the window I'm about to jump through and even though there is easily enough room I literally can't press space. I end up going down (I had the pallet up whilst looping so I would've been safe) and then getting hooked and being hit by the doctor as if he outplayed me and it really infuriated me.
In a team based game why are you going to completely block of windows I'm standing right by because a teammate is on the corner of them? I can't control how my teammates decide to play but the fact I don't get the prompt to press space and maybe slightly nudge that player to the right really annoys me because after carrying them the whole game, they get the escape and I lose my pretty good item that I didnt even get to use for the entire game because of the tunneling
It could have been a pure accident. You say you carried the game but just because you lead the killer on a chase does not mean you carried. If they had not done gens or opened the gate the chase would be pointless. In a game like this there is no I in TEAM. You just did the one thing you are better at and they did gens. Take pride that you can loop killers better than others but do not be cocky and say you carried the team. I have looped killers because I knew I was better at it and my friends did gens. It was a TEAM effort. I am sorry you had a game were you got killed because of bad luck and possible accident or even maybe the person was just being toxic. I hope that does not happen to you again.

Personally as a survivor Oni does not bother me it is the new Doc that bothers me. Yes I know before all you killer mains say you can counter him to use Calm Spirit or get into lockers. Well just gonna say you never know the killer until you are in the match and it is pointless to take Calm Spirit every match. It is pure luck when I am using it and get the doctor.
I am not saying to nerf him because I have my good and bad games with him but just saying out of all the killers that bug me he is the one that seems to be super easy mode as a killer. You walk around and everyone screams are sees invisible friends that you can also locate and then slug everyone. I mean it is tough enough not to scream but then the doctor being able to track down the illusions. He is kind of tough to go against.
-
The best thing to do as killer is to tunnel and camp the heck out of them. You want to make any survivor mains quit the game forever. =) lol
Just kidding! If you camp you also lose points because you do not get the chase and hooking a survivor only once also equals less points plus camping gives all the other survivors a chance to gen rush and escape leaving you with less then 10k points. I mean who wants to wait 10 minutes to play killer only to get less points then the person that died?
I mean if you want to camp then by all means camp. The survivors will thank you and you will still get points. I personally do not mind camping killers even if I am on the hook and do everything I can to stay alive as long as possible giving my team the best chance to do gens. It is why I run Kindred so they can see the camping killer.
I agree though with Vig play anyway you want I was just trying to explain why as a killer I do not camp and why as a survivor I like killers who do. I will say though when I play killer I use to camp and it was very boring standing there watching one survivor die OR in some cases they would open a gate and use borrowed time on the survivor and all get out. lol

Howdy Killers, just checking in.
Remember Campers is a survivor term, at the end of the day it's a tactic that works.
Even experienced killers could run into a match against 4 swf survicors perked to the max and see the gens popping off and say " time to find one and camp"
I have played with you on Switch! =)

Add a voice chat function for all survivors, so everyone has the same tool's as a SWF. Then if a solo survivor decides not to use the tool's given to them, tough luck.
If your response is "I don't want strangers or "12 year olds" talking to me, or yelling at me over mic" then don't use the feature, play with friends, or go without - tough luck. It's your own choice.
Then balance the game around the ability to use comms during play.
There also were great suggestions of of a proximity chat feature.
I do not mind the proximity chat and even the option of the killer getting extra BP for choosing to go against friends on mics. I wont say thought people that don't want to play on mic tough luck. I mean the developers built the game without voice chat and then just seemed to accept that it was happening. I for one am for whatever way you want to play then play it that way and have fun. =)
I just think another option would be two modes. You can play solo que OR Friends(SWF). That way the killer knows and if the killer does decide to face the tougher SWF mode maybe they can get those extra BP for a job well done. I just like playing without mic most the time only because that is the way the game was built and it is how I learned to play. I just know personally the game does not seem tough so when I do play on mic no joke I sometimes just let the killer kill me because I feel bad and it is to easy.
-
@korean_zombie said:
Honestly the game should offer in game chat for the survivor team and balance the game around that. Survive with Friends is no longer a competitive advantage. Solo que can make some new friends, better in game experience and buff killer role / balance the maps. But every idea is not a good idea or feasible to implement
Just asking because maybe I do not understand. Are you saying playing on mic with friends i no longer an advantage? I am just asking because I may be misunderstanding this.
-
I got told because I do not support the CURRENT way people communicate for SWF I must have no friends and should quit this game. I mean just because I find it a bit unfair to the killers who can only ever bring 4 perks vs friends on mics.
I look at it this way the constant communication is the same as having Perks like Kindred and Spine Chill and more of the vision perks. If people think I am wrong then look at it this way if your friend tells you where the killer is then isn't that the same has using those perks WITHOUT needing those perks? That means with the use of mics you already have perks without taking up perk space meaning you can pick 4 more things on top of already having constant vision while the killer only ever has 4 perks.
I will say maybe it is because of the platform I play on but me and my friends never play on mics because the game does not provide it so we play the game the way it was built. I am not saying the way anyone else plays is wrong but you cannot say using mics is not an advantage as a survivor being able to plan your next move 5 minutes in advance.
@Zamblot Figured maybe you would like to give this post a read and maybe give some feedback as to why not using mics makes people Friendless weirdos lol

I feel like they are okay with it because they have no real way to prove who is and isn't using it. They kind of even say, "As a result, voice chat is not cheating. But assuming it was, how would we enforce this?". They continue to say how hard it would be to prove who is using their phones and other things for voice chat and it would turn into a mess. They cannot ban people on simple speculation so the only real option is to say, sure we are okay with it because we have no real way to combat it.
I kind of think of it like the day when people played games like Golden Eye on N64 and looked at each other screens. How can you prove a friend looked at where you are? You can't so the only thing you can do is accept it and keep playing and getting killed.
Once again I am not against Voice Chat but this game was not intended for it are they would have put it in from the start I feel like.
-
I am all for voice chat in game. I do like this game actually because when I play solo que I would hate having bullies or young kids screaming like they do in Friday the 13th. I like how the voice chat works in Friday the 13th where you can only hear each other when close to each other OR if you both have walkies.
I will also take back my statement about it being cheating but being fair I still stand by it is not fair to the killers. I honestly feel bad for killers that have to deal with this. I use to think it was funny but then I watched more videos of it, one even being a Developer himself going against a SWF team and just thought wow. It really provides a much stronger boost to the survivor team when you can clearly keep in contact from any point in the map and plan your tactics. It is like having all the vision sight perks PLUS the 4 each survivor picks vs the killer with only 4 perks and standard vision.
I agree with some people that said there should be an option to go against friends playing on mics but you as the killer also get extra BP for maybe working much harder. The fear then I have seen from people and I believe even a developer, sorry trying to find that article again, is that if killers can tell they are going against a SWF team then there is a high chance you will see a lot of killers dodging in favor of a Solo que game of survivors.
I love this game and I love how it plays without mics BUT just to repeat myself it does not mean I am against playing with friends. It just means there needs to be a more balancing way for the killer to play then to without hurting solo survivor players. I think either let the killer decide they want to play against friends on mic for extra BP or maybe something else.
-

The problem is balance and the Devs not working around it. Not survive with friends itself...
Take your time but kind of waiting for your answer's to my last post. I am just trying to open a real discussion. Also have been looking all over the internet in search of the developers saying they were all for voice chat. Please give me insight if possible and feel free to answer the questions at your leisure. I am sure it will take some time to find the sources because I am having issues myself.

Wow I skim read your post first and didn't realise you think that playing with friends and voicechat is cheating. How in god's name is it cheating if developers are all for it. You don't hear any developers saying that you shouldn't do it and they support it by adding SWF when practically anyone playing with friends is voicechatting. Why the ######### would I want to play with my friends if we weren't speaking, that would LITERALLY be like playing with strangers. You people are so illogical and blame the game on your lack of skill. Hate the player not the game, if you don't like it go but no one wants you here trying to ruin everyone's fun. Sure you may be unsociable and have no friends to play games with but don't try taking everyone else's ability to play with their friends away. I assure you if SWF was taken away you would have an even less enjoyable experience as people would go off dead by daylight so fast. Multiplayer games are meant to be sociable activities so take away the ability to play with friends and it's just utter #########. Go play a single player game if you have no one to play with but don't try to blame other people for your lack of social skills and inability to accept people enjoy speaking to their friends while playing
A couple questions and I will list them.
When did developers say they are all for SWF? I am just asking not to be mean but looking for the article stating this.
Also just because developers don't say you shouldn't do it does that mean it is okay? If your mom specifically does not say, "Don't kick me in the face?", does that mean she must be okay if you do it?
If developers were 100% on board why have they not added voice chat standard like fortnite from the start or with any patch and why do you have to use other ways to voice chat with friends?
How is it not cheating if you get the standard perks you pick PLUS all the vision perks because you can keep constant eyes on the killer by communicating? This means the entire team gets the 4 perks they pick plus the 3 standard vision perks of Spine Chill, Premonition, and Kindred and leaves the killers with only 4. Yeah I can see how that is fair and fun. It sounds like easy mode.
Also why does playing a game the way it was meant to played, without voice chat, mean people have no friends?
I have friends and we do play games together, even this one and we play it the way it was built. I guess unlike you I do not have to talk from a headset because me and my friends can play a game without voice chat and then meet up later at a restaurant or bar and laugh about matches. If you want to play a game and voice chat there is MANY games with it built in standard without needing to use other means. I am not against having fun with friends but if making it unfair for the killer is fun for you then by all means keep doing it but me and my friends like to give the killer a fair chance AND use skill not just scream I SEE THE KILLER! We like a challenge. I mean I guess we could put on our headsets for this one game but why when the game was originally built to be a horror survival. If they wanted I wouldn't even mind voice chat in the way they did in Friday the 13th where you can only hear each other local. That is more realistic but being able to tell each other exactly where the killer is at all times....yeah that seems fair. It has nothing to do with NOT having friends but more about keeping the game balanced. I will await your name calling response but I will not sink to your level.

If developers were for it then why is voice chat not standard in game like it is in Friday the 13th? I could understand voice chat in that and it make more sense because you can only hear each other when near each other or you have walkie talkies.
Just because they do not say they aren't against it means they are all for it and when did when did they add SWF voice chat?
How do you not see it as cheating when you as 4 survivors have almost complete vision of the map by communication mean before even picking your 4 perks you already without needing to pick them now have Spine Chill, Kindred, and Premonition?
I also like that just because I want to keep it fair to killer equals me not having friends. I love how quickly it sinks to elementary level name calling and bullying. I have friends and I 100% have fun and play with friends on this game WITHOUT voice chat. I call them ask them to hop on we play and then we go out for drinks and laugh about how the matches went. I like to play the game the way it was built and not turn it into a Call of Duty game and Scream, KILLER SOUTH OF YOU RUN RUN RUN! Good luck trying to tell people voice chat is not cheating. I am not saying it is horrible but personally I won't use it and neither will my friends because we rely on skill and the 4 perks we pick not 4 plus the extra ones voice chat provides. We use voice chat in games that provide it.
Waiting for your reply and I am gonna guess it should be after you wake up because of bedtime and all. =)

'yeah, I hope we never get survive with friends so people can't play with their friends which is the only thing that makes this abhorently boring game fun'
You can play with your friends without voice chat. I mean if you want to voice chat go for it but when you play killer and have survivors not needing a single vision perk because they are telling each other where you are then you will get mad. I hope you never have to play killer against SWF Teams. I do not care what people say if you are playing online with voice chat with friends you are also cheating. It makes perks like Kindred, Spine Chill, and Premonition not needed because you pretty much already have them in the form of voice chat between the other survivors.
I never said you shouldn't play with friends but being able to use more than 4 perks when the killer only gets 4 is a bit to strong.

I think you are forgetting Lockers, Adrenaline, Unbreakable, other surviviors and the fact that the killer doesnt have 4 60 second timers in his head and doesnt always remember who has DS and who not in an important situation (example: bodyblocking hook in EGC). Not to mention that you can get multiple people running the same character with the same cosmetics.
You are right about the characters running same cosmetics and stuff but I guess because I play Solo Que this almost never happens. I also play on the Switch so SWF is not an option and I have 1000k hours before anyone says I haven't played enough. On the Switch I am lucky to see DS on one survivor at all and body blocking does sometimes occur but that is more when the killer is tunneling a survivor and we just want to save the survivor and give them a chance to get any points. Most the time survivors on the switch just stay out of the way. I am sorry ahead of time I think I am just having a different experience then others.

Well that depends on skill of the surviviors, good surviviors or SWF will pick the guy up as soon as he finishes recovering. DS in a locker means you cant slug them, you can only do a locker grab and get DSed. Amazing.
I dont think it matters if they are EXACTLY the same. These perks work similiar, reward similiar plays, dont require any skill/effort to use, have annoying, partially counterable counterplay and both have a powerful effect that can turn the tide of the game. Both perks have can be countered, but you have to go out of your way because enemy MIGHT have that perk, and you have to play around it even if it its not in the game.
DS is used to counter tunneling, but is also abused by good surviviors who use it as 60s invicibility they can use to do gens. Not to mention that DS actually CAUSES MORE TUNNELING, because killer assumes that EVERYONE HAS DS and tunnels EVERY survivior to trigger their DS early. This is literally the best counter to DS.
I think 60 seconds on DS are fine, but there have to be conditions when DS is immmediately disabled when:
- You are the last survivior that is not dead/slugged/hooked
- Another DS got activated
- You started doing any action (except vaulting and self healing)
- You got caught in a Bear Trap
- 2 other people got downed (-30s from the timer per down)
- TO IMPROVE ANTI TUNNELING PART: timer is stopped while in a chase
As for NOED balance:
You can use NOED only on surviviors you have hooked at least once before it activated.
I really like your ideas but the limits on DS almost makes it near impossible to use. I mean It can be abused very much especially by SWF. I personally do not use it and if I play survivor I use Borrowed Time to give the Survivor a chance and Killer mains think that is to OP because they can get out the exit gate with that as well. I agree though but I think in the end it is more the SWF teams that are breaking the Survivors perks and making them to OP because in solo que we are lucky to know what each other have for perks. It is impossible to organize such annoying setups. I could be wrong but the Solo Que are gonna get crapped on because of SWF abusing perks.
I think your NOED idea is pretty good but maybe a sign that it is in effect as well before the end game like every other totem. Then again it is meant to be a HELLO I AM HERE perk. lol =)

So, here's where you lose (and I suggest you stop trying). Say the exit gates are opened. EGC has begun. You have someone on the hook and they get saved. They have DS for 60 seconds. Even if you slug that person, they have time to get to a door. What's the counter play? Oh wait, there isn't one. They either crawl out the door, because they have 60 seconds to get to either door which is more than enough, or you pick them up and get DS'd. Where's the part where it can be prevents? Go ahead. I'll wait. (I'll literally be waiting forever).
Also - do you know how many times I can hook someone, then go hook 2 other people, find the 1st person at a generator...and they still have DS? I hooked 2 other people? How were they tunneled? Your entire logic is broken. So just stop, lol. You only serve to hurt your own ego here, cause you have no real point to make other than shameless defense of your little crutch perk.
Good, now that we've established that your logic is broken, you can stop attempting. :) Just back away, bud. You started a debate you can't win.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1119410#Comment_1119410
"Last time I checked, you have to take a huge meathook to the back"...wait, so you have to get caught? Which means...losing a chase? Which if I'm mistaken...is a failure on your part? You have to fail to get your get out of jail free perk? K.
So you are going on the idea that you couldn't manage to get a kill and the exit gate is now open? It sounds more like a skill level failure on your part. I see many games where people with DS get killed way before the exit gate is open. Also I guess if we make up scenarios anyone can prove a point. I guess my turn to make up a fake made believe scenario.
STORY TIME!- It is a cold and dark night and I hear the screams of the survivors. I go and run one down and she looks at me praying I don't whack her in the head but I do it with a gleeful look on my face. I hook her and screams can be heard for miles and she struggles and cries. A fellow survivor comes to her rescue and I run to the hook and even with her teammate in front of her I refuse to slug here because I want the survivor that gof off the hook. I catch her and slug her and I am smiling because I know she is mine but I pick her up and I feel a cold metal thing stab my back. SHE IS FREE. I fall to my knees screaming 'WHY GOD WHY?!".-STORY TIME OVER
Heck let's even go with your Story. STORY TIME-You slug the survivor when the exit gate opens and hook her. Her partners get her off the hook and you go and hit her but DUN DUN DUN.....she has borrowed time....now you come to the forums to cry BT is to strong now. ROFL Wait sorry wrong story.....I mean she gets slugged and you go to pick her up and DS procs but she missed and now you get to hook her again.
You are acting like DS is a 100% hit chance. I have seen players miss by accident. You are talking about DS in the most perfect of setups. If it was as great as you claim I would think it would be used more often but I am lucky if one survivor in my game has it.
But you are right this is a most pointless debate because at the end of the day Perks are only as good as the setup they are in. We can keep making story time though to make the perk and or point better fit our points.

dude I have had many matches where I had everyone 2 hooked, one dead, and the other 3 found hatch in front of me with a key. it really shouldn't be "well the killer is right there but I have a win button and he can't do anything about it soo". 5 seconds isn't long if you get it even with the 5 second penalty good on ya, you were smart and used it away from me. if I'm right there you shouldn't just be allowed to win automatically.
But all the work it takes to even get the hatch to spawn and then even find it, THEN be able to wrangle up your team unless you are SWF is almost a 1% chance of happening. I have 1000k Hours and never seen this happen yet. I guess maybe it is just my luck but if 3 survivors got out that means they had to do at least 4 gens. That is i mean almost the game over anyway so they earned it. I could understand if they got into the game did two gens and the hatch screamed I AM HERE COME PUT YOUR MEAT IN ME however it is more work than that. I am sorry as a Killer main you have some crappy games but that one match can't account for the MANY others.

many people HAVE pointed out killer issues as well. I'm a killer main personally, and I do think red moris need a nerf. I agreed ruin needed a nerf (not the way the did it but still). the only thing people bring up I don't agree with is Noed nerfs. Killers need nerfs in certain areas. We understand. but survivors do as well.
Ruin did not need a nerf though. I see more newer survivors and even some more experienced players who have more problems with NOED then RUIN. Ruin was easy to deal with but NOED is one of those that is pure luck. You have to hope that you and your team cleared ALL the totems PLUS 5 gens. When Hex popped up you either work through it or go find it and cleanse it.
I agree there is many perks on both sides that need reworked and I am sorry if I offended you at all. I will change my last statement to a good percent of killer mains who don't get a full clear get mad and want the survivor perks nerfed. The funny thing is most the perks I read about being OP I almost never see in my survivor teams. Once again I am sorry for being rude.

Not to mention that you can get multiple people running the same character with the same cosmetics.
In most my games the survivors are to cowardly to heal a slugged survivor. I am not sure what lockers do in the case of DS. I am dumb sorry.
I guess adrenaline could let you get back up or even unbreakable so you make a point but I also think when it comes down to it NOED has a tiny, not much but a smaller unfair advantage. Yes with DS if the killer lets you stay down you can hope for one of those three things to happen like adrenaline or unbreakable and maybe a survivor will heal you. NOED however like you yourself said has no fair warning until its to late. There is also no real requirement other than just needing a dull totem that is so well hidden.
The only reason I could see DS for any use is when a killer is tunneling you BUT I also think there is many ways around that as well and that is why I do not use DS. I actually do not use really any second chance perks. My most common perks now are Small Game, Spine Chill, Inner Strength, and either Borrowed Time or Kindred. I know they are probably some of the worst picks but I like them and I only use BT to help a survivor if they are camped or tunneled. I like to give them a chance and let me get hooked.
In the end it is all very situational and I guess you are right maybe they could just all together take both perks out? It may be to hard to balance either one. I mean no matter what they do DS will always be what is it. I mean it is only a one time use and if you miss your screwed. If they weaken it anymore.....I guess they could limit the time limit to like 15 seconds but then why even use it. They could even make the bar smaller or invisible and make it a game of roulette. lol

I'm not arguing keys are more "fair" than mories or claiming the opposite. I'm saying they're both busted and should be changed. The frequency of seeing either a key or a mori honestly shouldn't matter. If something is broken, you fix it. You don't just look and see if it's worth fixing because of how little either occurs. That said, I play both sides as well and see both mories and keys on a regular basis.
"They still need to do gens" is, especially in these times, just a weak argument... A killer loses 2-3 gens early game and that means the hatch will already spawn if you kill 2 survivors off. That is if you're able to defend the last gens and that you're able to get 6 hooks on the same survivors, which if you want to play fair and just have fun with the game is almost impossible.
The way I see it, the hatch is already a broken mechanic as it just robs the killer and if they ever reworked keys (and mories), in my opinion at least, they should rework the hatch as well. Though, I doubt they would ever go that far.
You may be right but maybe because I play on a different platform my experience is different. When I play killer and I am being fully honest I can have 2 killers hooked before the second gen pops.
When I play survivor I am lucky if my team gets 3 gens done per game unless I do them all myself. The hatch normally ends up being my only way out and I do not use the key I just pray to find it before the killer. I get stuck with such crappy solo que teams that I spend most games babysitting and unhooking people while the others pop gens alerting the killer the whole time, so the hatch in some games are a god send. I mean it would suck as a survivor who works their butt off only to get killed because your team just refused to learn the game. I mean it happens but should a player that seriously tries be denied the right to escape because their team not only let them down but let them down so bad that circus bears could have been better partners? lol
I am not saying everyone should use the hatch because I have more fun doing gens and getting points but the hatch is a safe escape when your team is dead and it's just you and you still have 3 gens. Always try gens but if its not safe and you can get out I say take the escape.
The escape gates in most maps are so close together that if you are also the only one alive you might as well just go in a corner and wait to die. I have actually done this because the killer was just standing between both doors so me trying was pointless and made me take a break from the game. I am by far not a sore loser and even when I play killer I am known to let people go because I want everyone to have fun but never being able to get out as a survivor is not fun.
In the end I know its not right but the game WILL NEVER BE BALANCED. We can all either be upset by it and vent and waste time complaining or enjoy the game for what it is or find something else to play. Sorry if I am being mean I really do not mean to be.

There's no hint? Killer movement speed says hello. It's a HUGE tell.
You really do not know how NOED works I am guessing. The speed boost ONLY starts once the Dull Totem lights up. You do not get a speed boost until then and that is what he means. There is no warning that the killer has the perk UNTIL the one totem you missed powers up and THEN you get the speed boost and the survivors get the exposed statues.
So I guess HELLO back to you? He is right there is no hint that NOED will be in effect UNTIL it is to late and the killer is slugging people.

Except, it's not DS for killers.
NOED can be prevented completely from ever even existing. Can DS? (spoiler - the answer is no).

Detectives hunch. Rainbow maps. Small game. They all assist with this.
DS can be prevented you um just let the slug be a slug for 60 seconds. TA-DA you are welcome!
Also DS is the one way to help a poor survivor that is being tunneled from being tunneled at least once. If you aren't tunneling them then the timer will always run out before they can use it anyway. I have had games where I never once got to use DS because the killer would not chase me until the timer was up. ONCE AGAIN TA-DA!!! MAAAAGIC

Balance both? Lmao
NOED is literally DS for killers, both reward you for your opponent playing well and require no effort or plan to be activated.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1094729#Comment_1094729
How the hell am I supposed to know how many totems did my teammates do?
Last time I check to active DS you need to take a huge meathook to the back and then HOPE the killer picks you up. I could be wrong though. lol If the killer is the smart they just let you lay like a dumb slug.
I also agree with what you said about NOED. There should be at least some requirement beyond the simple just needing survivors to leave one dull totem. You pointed out how devour hope needs tokens yet there is little to nothing needed for NOED. I wish people would be honest and think about how often does every totem really get cleansed when they play. It is even worst in solo ques unless you make it your only job to try and find them all.

NOED is fine. Balance DS.
Balance DS? You mean the one time use and if you fail you fail is not enough?
NOED is fine though I mean it's okay you do not need to do anything to make it work and can slug everyone and get a speed boost. It does not compare to the one time use DS that stuns for what 3 or 5 seconds. I can see how DS is so much more powerful compare to NOED. ROFL

@Mandy said:
I think NOED is completely fair as it is, it's easy to remove from the game by getting all the totems and if the killer is camping one person then there's plenty of time to do that.
What if you are in a game where it is you and 2 or 3 other new players who do not even think about cleansing totems because they see it is dull and think eeh it's okay? I have had many MANY games where I get a high rank killer and very low rank players if not completely new players who don't even know you can't heal a reverse bear trap from their heads. They last thing they are thinking is NOED is gonna pop up and get them.
I mean they could worst case just make it a totem that is lit but wont take effect until the end to give new players a chance to learn. I last game tonight had 2 players who followed me because they thought I could heal them and I guess take off their traps from their heads. I felt bad but nothing I could do but now I am expecting them to also know to cleanse every totem.
I also have to ask if NOED is completely fair then why was everyone so scared or mad at HEX Ruin? That perk was nothing compared to NOED. At least when the game started you knew from the start to cleanse that. You have no idea that NOED will be in effect meaning from now on in every game you should skip all gens and just focus all totems first.
I personally do not mind ANY perk just have been burnt out on NOED because I have seen a huge spike in its use since Hex Ruin was reworked and 85% of my games have it. I would like to see other perks used.

is this for real? Absolutely ridiculous. Take away the hatch? These killers are feeling quite entitled to getting all 4 kills every match. If That’s not lopsided idk what is. Balanced is killers getting 1-2 kills on a regular basis. Look at these entitled players. Before you know it, they’ll be in the queue all day trying to find survivors other than rank 1. And that’s just the few that stick around. Killers need a nerf man. Or survivors a buff. I can not believe someone wants the hatch gone when it literally makes the game not fun to be a survivor if that happens. The game isn’t all about you man. Survivors are human people too that also want to .... well... you know actually survive if things go awry with their team. There HAVE to be alternate escape routes. I think what this game lacks is that exactly. Friday 13 has 5 different ways of getting out alive and 1 includes killing Jason himself. So why confine 4 people to getting 5 gens out and that’s it? Why not at least say hey, survive this long and you win? I’d rather stop playing if you’re gonna force me to get 5 gens done to win every single time. A hatch isn’t enough in my opinion. I can’t predict what my teammates are gonna do. I’d rather not play anymore tbh
I have taken a looong break from this game and thanks to some new things that are popping back up I have almost debated taken another long break myself. I see to many killers saying the survivors need more nerfs but most my games end in 4 deaths. I am starting to feel if the killer doesn't get a complete clear then the game is unfair.
I am not a main on either side and play both sides because I think it is fun and also boring to stick to one side or the other. I can see how some things are unfair but if you want to point out survivors issues then you have to also point out the major obvious killer issues. They never do though. If they have one game were even on survivor escapes the first thing I see in forums is OFF WITH THIS PERK! haha

ok, fair point. than how about the 5 second thing and when the opening starts the killer will get a noise notification? adds a bit more skill for it to be used as they have to make sure the killer is away.
IS it really a fair point? I mean he is pretty much overlooking all the work that goes into using a key if someone actually even brings one or finds one. I just keep reading the post that people are angry at the keys and they seem to think you can start a match and magically just wave your key and poof your on a island sipping some drinks. There is so much you have to do and even after that then you have to find this HOLY PORTAL. Now people want to add a timer to opening it. I mean heck why not just add more gens to the game and in order to use the hatch we need to do all of them then.
Then we can go looking for the hatch and hope to find it. I am not mad either way but I just want people to really think about how much work goes into using a key before making it harder to use something I hardly ever see used anyway. I mean no matter if it is a RED KEY or a PURPLE KEY there is still work to be done PRIOR to the hatch spawning and then having to find it.
If you look at moris though the only requirement for a RED Mori is hook the survivor. If either RED KEY or RED MORI is unfair it is the MORI.
