That’s actually not what i said. You didn’t respond to my point about the game disruption to survivors being the real issue. Ok, maybe if you are at a gen you might be able to continue working on it if you are lined up correctly so your aura doesn’t peak through, but that doesn’t happen most of the time in my experience. My point is that by having to counter the perk, it puts survivors at a big disadvantage and there isn’t a survivor perk that disadvantages the killer like that. I don’t think it needs to be totally nerfed, but it should be balanced more.
That's only 4 seconds that you'll have to hide which in game terms isn't much. Mind breaker is about that much and that perk is bad. And once again only 5 killers can use it to it's potential. You can't say BBQ is effective at disruption when with a Trapper or Plague. You act like every killer can disrupt with BBQ which it doesn't. And your experience with the perk doesn't account for everyone's experience I've already had many survivor mains laugh at the thought of BBQ OP your experience with it doesn't mean it's OP. If we were to use your example of from my experience it was this or that. Then Myers needs to be nerfed because I usually lose against Myers. Your example doesn't mean BBQ is OP it isn't. Just because you have a rough time against it doesn't me it's OP. Ask the majority of survivors it isn't OP. BBQ isn't OP. But if you can somehow find a way to show how each killer can use the Aura efficiently do so. Since you act like every killer is a threat with BBQ. But thanks for responding unlike others.

Those add-ons that change the msst or luck need a useful change beyond Blendetts squads and Kobe builds.

I see that you are unable to counter my point with logic or proof so you resort to ridicule. Good job proving me correct.
Okay then since according to you I didn't name reasons why BBQ isn't OP. Tell me how every killer with their base power can use BBQ efficiently. To counter all my points. And I once again mentioned you can continue to fix a gen while BBQ happens. And only 5 killers can use it efficiently.
-
I'm gonna guess it's not gonna really account for SWF but improve solo Q which is the majority of survivors.

But part of the fun of The Thing is that we never actually see it in the movie, so we don't really know what it looks like.
I wrote a whole chapter idea. The base skin can be a humble of body parts from everything it's assimilated.

It's a lie that killers don't use it for the auras, because they do all the time. Maybe you forget once in a while, but it is definitely used for that purpose. I run kindred and can see killers looking around to locate a survivor and then moving in their direction. Why even point out that there are counters to BBQ if killers aren't using it for the auras? It's because they do. So, we are often good at countering BBQ, but in doing so we have to stop what we are doing and counter . This is a huge disruption for us and a huge benefit for the killer. Up to 11 times per game we are disrupting our gameplay to counter a killer perk. What perk do survivors have that equals that kind of disruption for a killer? We have a BP perk, but it just lets us pick up dying survivors a bit faster..woo hoo! A great idea to balance BBQ would be to let killers see the aura only on the first hook of each survivor. Also, removing the ability to see the aura of a dying survivor.
You do realize hiding behind gens means you still fix them and hide from BBQ. And a killer can only be in one spot at once. And only 5 killers can utilize BBQs aura to it's full potential sorry if you're scared of a Hag waddling all the way over with BBQ. Oh the interruption of one person while 2 still fix gens.
-
@discocat said:
Probably 75% of games I play the killer has BBQ. All the killers in the forums say they don't use it for the auras, but of course they do most of the time (at minimum for the last hook or the 3rd survivor so they can find the final survivor). It's unreasonable to expect all the survivors to have to counter that perk every time someone is hooked. The mere fact that it causes game disruption to the survivors up to 11 times per match AND it gives up to double BP proves it is OP. Not any perk that a survivor has causes that much disruption to the killer AND gives double BP. It is completely OP.
Like I said most killer can't utilize the auras. A perk where only 5 killers with their base can utilize the Aura reading. And you'll still have tons of time to get ready. Let me see 75 percent of killers most of them aren't Blight, Billy, Nurse, Oni or Freddy. So the Hag and Trapper using BBQ aren't using it for the Aura it's the BP. Did you read what I said? A perk with 4 counters must be to hard to counter.
-
@scottymo said:
If it’s not OP why is it heavily used. Why is it heavily discussed. Not buying the BP bonus. Use kindred and watch killer scan after a hook and hone in. Not fun playing a ONi or Hilly illy with this Iwin perk. Pretty much have to play assuming they are using it and like poster said position near a locker, climb in count to 5 while they are on the hook and climb out. If it’s not OP why is it used soooooooo much. Looks damm OP to me. Play without it then. Seems like almost a crutch for far too many killer mains.
Yes they can use it efficiently but like I said above it's a gamble for an Oni since they can loose sight of you. And you can hear a Hillbilly and Oni coming giving you plenty of time to find a loop. And once more people don't bring Kindred to counter BBQ. And by the time any killer gets let me remind you it takes over 40 meters to get to you which is plenty of time. Any example I listed above you can easily counter. And it is still the Bp why else do you see M1 killers who can't zoom around using BBQ. Tell me do you think BBQ is good on Hag?

It's a nice attempt, but there's an obligatory weekly "nerf BBQ" thread. I dunno if there's a quota to meet or what. For some reason, the fact that the perk has multiple counters doesn't seem to matter. I don't know why they ignore the horrendous grind in the game, like killers couldn't possibly be using it for the Bloodpoints (even though we're absolutely using it for the damn BP, do you know how many times I forget to even check for auras after a hook? considering how often survivors counter it, anyway, it doesn't even matter.). When it does show auras it can be very helpful, but with all the counters to it there really is no need for a nerf, and killers can't afford to have another useless BP perk. It already sucks to run a BP build and have at most two useful perks.
Heck it was worth shot would like to see one of the nerf BBQ people respond to a the counter evidence I stated.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if it's in the last map package. The map needs a complete rework in my opinion. There's only Coldwind, Swamp, Forest, Lerys, Hawkins, and Haddonfield left. Unsure about Dead Dawg and Midwich. So not much longer at most 6 if they package them then 3 chapters and Mid-Chapters.

If my wishes came true it'd be The Thing.

If that was true, then you'd never see a survivor without WGLF. Survivors are the ones that starves for points. That aura reading must be pretty powerful.
It's still the blood points. Okay then let's see half the killers can't even utilize the Aura. And this perk has three counters. Hide behind the gen Aura. Hide in a locker. Or go a few steps one way then the other way. A perk with those three simple counters is not OP.
-
@Sluzzy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1877539#Comment_1877539
Explain why it is always used then?
It's primary usage isn't for Aura reading it's for the blood points. It's why survivors run WGLF even when all it gave was extra blood points. And half the killers can't even utilize the Aura reading. The primary usage for BBQ is the BP not the Aura reading.
-
@Sluzzy said:
It is OP, but I think they haven't nerfed it because it reduces camping which survivors hate. If I remember correctly, it is the most used perk on either side if that tells you anything. So it is a perk that reduces camping but a well experienced killer gets too much advantage with BBQ, in which case a well experienced killer wouldn't camp much anyway but they use the perk anyway. It needs nerfing so it has less value for when there is less survivors or less gens left. A killer with BBQ and Tinkerer when only 2 survivors left causes a stalemate. That should be addressed on these two perks.
It's not OP.
-
I have no opinion haven't played enough Pyramid Heads.
-
Oh sorry didn't understand. But yeah survivors run Kindred for camping rescues. And solo Q coordination so you don't die on hook and so everyone doesn't come to you instead of fixing the last gens. Not BBQ. Would like to hear a response from him.

Didn't you know that kindred counters bbq? 😂😜
You talking about me or him?

@scottymo said:
I think this perk has been discussed quite a bit, But here’s a common denominator with killers, most use it. Might as well assume. Forces survivors to use Kindred which only slightly offsets as at least it can giveaway the perk may be used. When you play watch how many killers use it. I will attest it’s most. Needs to be tweaked. There’s your sign, force killers to use some degree of skill and cunning. Not hook and then hone in on the next kill, hook, wash repeat...
And survivors don't run Kindred because of BBQ.
-
Nope it isn't an OP perk a perk we're all you have to do to is hide in a locker, behind a generator, or go a few steps one way then turn around is far from OP. Compared to a lot of other perks it's balanced. It's effective because survivors are too slow to recognize there's BBQ. A perk with three easy counters. But if you can't do that well let's look at the killers who can use the info efficiently. Windstorm Wraith okay he sees you zooms over with no terror radius. But he's Wraith no problem. Hillbilly he starts zooming over except it's easy to hear him coming you can prepare Nurse same thing with Billy you can easily hear them coming. Huntress with a long shot not hard to avoid. Freddy okay he teleports to a nearby gen except he won't be undetectable and has a brief moment for you to get distance. Spirit with add-ons okay she's there but now she'll be without her power and a 4.4. Demogorgon your're near his portals he comes except you hear it coming and his footsteps no problem getting distance. Oni he sees you in the distance he pops his power once more you hear it and an Oni who does that will lose. And there's a good chance he doesn't have his blood fury. Okay Blight he zooms over but by the time he gets there he's used his charges and is an M1 killer. The Twins okay she sends Victor but once more you hear it coming and Victor will be to far from Charlotte to get there in time. All other killers are to slow to get there by the time they do they're to the spot you're gone. And that is why BBQ isn't an OP perk. Would love to hear a response to all these points.

I feel like I made this before but idk.
But should I use object in solo? Is it a good idea or is it terrible and I should not go within 30 feet of the perk?

There's a good chance of a tunnel since OoO is often frowned upon.

Oh no I've been playing doctor and loving him. It's just most survivors criticize Doc.
-
Doctor and Hag. I play them a lot.
-
Geez I have the exact opposite issue. Survivor times are a breeze for me. And killer times take me 10 minutes. Wish I had short killer times I find it funner to play killer.
-
Meh don't really have much to say Dead Hard is annoying but few know how to use it to it's full potential. And it's easy to predict.
-
Hag and Billy I enjoy. Hag you don't need to worry about gens poping. Billy is fun to one shot and zoom around the map. Been liking doctor to get the Urban Neas, Fixated Nancy's, and the Blendetts. And it's fun to see their souls crushed when they're shocked before the pallet.

Yeah that above is a lot better then what the PTB has shown.

If I was doing that I'd have dead harded to guaranteed the pallet regardless of turning or not. There's almost no circumstances where that would actually deny a killer a down compared to just dead harding normally.
Oh yes it would make a difference

I don't really know tbh, but if I had to take a shot in the dark, a new film right now is possessor (have you watched it). A Killer that can, once hooking and killing someone, take on the appearance of another survivor so that the red mark disappears/less noticeable from a distance and it only works for a small period. That sort of power would be cool, as whilst he may be an m1 killer it means that if you are not careful they become very deadly very quickly. Of course, it would be like what we thought about legion originally, but it would be a cool killer IMO. He would suck early, but not being able to see the killers body shape and it constantly changing so you had to keep tabs on who was in your lobby and who had died would be pretty cool.
Pretty cool I'd like The Thing mostly because I'm a huge fan.

Which license?
-
Not sure depends on what kind of power it'll be.

It's a balanced perk that helps the killer but still can be countered by guess what moving away.

Detectives Hunch I love getting all the totems and using the info to avoid a three gen.

Look, BHVR is a relatively small company; Dead by daylight is literally their only major title. Besides that, making incremental changes to games is a lot more difficult than people actually give credit for. You first have to gather information to determine if the issue at hand is an actual issue, or just the most vocal minority being loud. Then, you have to actually design a change that would not prejudice the other side but still stain its fun. Programming is awfully difficult too; there are millions of lines of code in this games, and we all know the potential of tiny changes causing the bugs to emerge from the sewers. The recent animations, for example, took months and hours to develop, and a financial and chronological investment. We're all frustrated, but we have to understand the devs' point of view.
They make over 100 million dollars each year

In my opinion surge is good on the following killers.
Trapper, Wraith, Nurse, Hag, Doctor, Freddy, Clown, Spirit, Ghostface, and Deathslinger. This isn't even counting killers like Legion where the odds of you downing someone with Frenzy are addon reliant that using m1 is required. I also discounted the pig but given how underwhelming her dash is you could include her on that list. Surge is good on over half the roster. As for the other perks I don't know why you brought up Zanshin and BoP since those are just weak perks overall. They even could stand to get a buff in my opinion.
Because of the limitations of Surges only basic attack for killer with an M2 Surge for say a Hillbilly or Huntress might as well be Zanshin or BoP because you'll be at a disadvantage of using your M1. And all the killer you listed are only M1s some perks are for M1s like STBFL but Surge shouldn't be one of those. And the majority of the community sees this. And TheBigBingus just made a great idea if you are downed within number of the meters of the killer then Surge will go off. God forbid the devs can't do extra work.

That's specifically what is addressed in the comment I linked. It's more reliable to not add exceptions for long term maintainability. As painful as it may seem, you need to anticipate all potential scenarios a change can make. Edge cases matter and to pretend like since its a slim chance something will happen is a really bad mindset to have.
Also for every killer you mentioned the exceptions would have to be included. Which again is what the comment I linked addressed. Furthermore, you can assume that it would also affect development of future killer's where the "exceptions" would have to be taken into account. It's just not a good design choice.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1872372#Comment_1872372
The description of the perk lore wise can sometimes be irrelevant gameplay wise but I get what you are talking about. As for ridiculous things you could include going down from Deep wounds.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1872395#Comment_1872395
What's extremely irritating is when people include insults in their posts, it's disrespectful and takes away from what they are trying to convey. As for what you said, it's much simpler and easier to maintain than changing the entire system to that. It sucks that some perks aren't good on certain killers but isn't that the point of having so many different perks? Certain builds are good on certain killers and surge won't be as useful on killers like huntress just like sloppy isn't.
Okay then I guess for many killers Surge will have to go along with the many other worthless perks like Zanshin Tactics and Beast of Prey becausese a few exceptions can't be made. Along with many other perks that suffer from exceptions.

I think the issue with that is that the parameters for the "killer's weapon" are kind of vague. Technically, honing stone trapper and legion's frenzy count as their weapons; it's just that they're detached from them. Same goes for plague's corrupt purge and huntress' hatchets (which bring up another issue since we don't know if surge is meant to be based on where the survivor is or where the killer is). It's a matter of technicality, but the definitions for the "killer's weapon," or even "direct attacks from the killer's weapon" remain unhelpfully vague.
If there can be perks like autodidact then I don't see the problem implenting something exceptions for Surge

I believe Almo covered that in another thread but in summary:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1857756#Comment_1857756
Then make it when you get downed by the killers weapons directly. And let's be real it's a slim chance you'll get downed by deep wound or by a specific killers add-on it can't be that hard to add. And it's dumb because it limits this many killers with their M2 Hillbilly, Huntress, Bubba, Pig, Plague, Demogorgon, Oni, PH, Blight and the Twins.

Wouldn't be opposed to a numerical buff from 8% but removing the basic attack restriction would be dumb on many levels.
Why would it be dumb to remove the basic attack requirement?
-
Remove that stupid basic attack requirement and this perk would be much more popular. For the many Oni and Huntress mains and every other killer with an M2. And many other perks that suffer due to a dumb basic attack requirement.

@AChaoticKiller said:
For killers to be unique they can't all be similar like how many idea's of mobility can you think of before they become similar to others.
As for ruin+undying the issue was more with how the perk could make hex totems last too long and high mobility killers could defend them easier due to the aura reading but that won't be a problem anymore.
However while i like the nerf to undying I can't agree with making it's aura reading useless that was a little overkill and honestly was a lazy way to deal with mobility killers. They should have either just shortened the aura reading or made a new effect entirely because really the only effect of this perk now is saving one totem.
I was never yo bothered by Undying-Ruin I like getting bones. But a change I'd be fine with but I think they'll have to redo it again although I like it's now good with Devour Hope and the few dedicatedly Lullaby gamers.
