Good on him. Butt dancing at the doors is plain stupid and rude. Just leave. BTW, it is not teabagging. There is nobody beneath you to teabag....just saying. You can't teabag air. Besides, do you really want to teabag with Billy? If so, something is wrong with you....just saying.

How dare those survivors do gens! You should run around the map one full time, drop at least one pallet each, preferably the shack pallet, and THEN you can start A gen, but only 2 get to work it. The other 2 have to stand and watch. In the meantime, I'm going to pick one of you, get you hooked, then sweat about you getting away. I'm going to show you so much attention, you will die from it. That's right, it's attention, not tunneling or camping. Granted, this is a choice I'm making, unlike you who have to either do gens or die.
Trust me, I am tired of gens popping off left and right, but I don't blame the survivors for it. ######### are they supposed to do? As for tunneling and camping, there are much more effective ways to play. Unfortunately, it is the low and mid-ranks where this occurs most because those survivors are either not skilled enough or are too new to understand how to counter it. So, most of the killers on this forum that talk about it being effective to do this from the start are doing it in ranks 10-20 and purposely stay in those ranks. Why? Because they know they get owned at higher ranks with that mickey-mouse crap.
Seriously, I swallowed the bile and tried pure tunneling/camping at rank 3 one day and got utterly destroyed! I did it all day long and got only one match with a 3k. Then I switched back to my normal and applied pressure. I got owned in a few SWF matches, but no worse than the tunnel match - though I got twice as much BP by spreading around. The rest of the matches I got 3-4k in each.
Fact of the matter is, tunnel/camp as a pure play style only works in lower ranks. Most of these forum killers who cry about people complaining about it are just tools that avoid challenging players.
As for gen speeds, those need to be adjusted or something has to be done at red ranks. It is insanely fast. Yet, at lower ranks, it is not. Crazy desparity.

@Peanits said:
For what it's worth, that only works as well as the other survivors let it work. If you end up tunneling that guy through a BT or two, the other three healthy survivors are going to have nothing to do but generators. As long as they don't hang around trying to be a hero, those generators will be done by the time you do tunnel that one guy to death.
You are talking about experienced survivors here. That has zero to do with 90 percent of the survivor players. Tunneling and camping is extremely effective in the low ranks. This may seem like a natural progression, but it is actually a barrier to growth for the game.
Toxic players who can't handle losing in the purple and red ranks intentionally stay in the low ranks so they can tunnel and camp newer survivors. This discourages new players and they don't stick with the game. I personally have seen more than 20 people start this game based on my recommendation only to quit after a couple months. They all say the same reasons.
1. Way too toxic. Every match is camping or tunneling. Why play a game where you can't really experience learning it until you are high rank?
2. Too much grind for new players. Blood point rewards are way too low.

The problem is keys are a lot easier since as others die or as gens get done you could just find the hatch with swf. Base moris youd need to hook twice and down 3-4 times (with ds or unbreakable).
If you are finding the hatch with 3 gens done, you are alone and the killer has already won. If you sat around waiting for this moment, you will get crap BP.
Where is the problem here? The only thing they need to do with keys is limit the number of people who can get out via 1 key. Purple gets 1, Pink gets 2. Have to have 3 gens done if 2 people are left and those 2 people have to be SWF or work together. Again, not an issue.
Keys are not that bad and are nowhere near as common as moris and mori perks. 1 of every 3 matches as survivor has a mori in it. I've only seen 3 keys in the past 4 weeks. I run killer way more than I do survivor.
-
Moris should never be base kit anymore than keys should. I'd like moris to be after 2and hook and keys only work for one person.
-
It's funny, I play killer 80% of the time. I don't sweat any items unless I see lots of boxes or lights. Yet, when I play survivor, I avoid using most items. I've seen fragile killers set off by a map and load EM. It's rediculous that so many think it is toxic to bring an item. Just pathetic.
Then again, boxes are pure ######### bow, so I don't get why anyone would be set off by that. I let a 4 box team go without Franklin's or a mori and they popped 3 gens fast, then all died. Boxes are a joke.
-
Many of us were raised during a time where you respected the competitive nature and your opponent. People now days have zero class, zero empathy and act like winning a game of DbD is somehow the pinnacle of existence.
When you spam flashlights, buttdance or act toxic, you are disrespecting someone you don't even know. That shows you are a fragile minded, entitled brat that can't function properly in society. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those and the number is growing.
I try to practice the concept of acting like I'm in the room with the person and there might be uncomfortable consequences if you act disrespectful in that setting.

@Peanits said:
This is just a theory and I obviously can't say for sure without copious amounts of research, but I feel like a big part of that is because as time goes on and more and more survivors are added, most people have just found a survivor that they like. Back when the game first came out and there were only four survivors, you might not be too crazy about any of them, so a new survivor that's more up your alley would totally be worth switching to.
It's way harder to dethrone a favourite, though. I already like Dwight and Nea, for example. For me to switch to another survivor, I would have to really like them. I'm willing to bet that with a cast of 20 (now 21) survivors, most people have already found their Dwight/Nea – especially when they've gone the extra mile and started collecting cosmetics for them.
I can see the grind part too, although I don't think it's nearly high enough to stop you from playing the survivor you really want.
I can tell you based on all the survivors I know that the grind is the biggest issue. Yes, personal choice comes in, but having yet another character to try and fill perks in on is too much.
Personally, I stopped P3 almost 2 years ago. There are too many perks and characters to try for p3. The advantage of p3 is an absolute joke, so why waste the BP that are so desperately needed to fill out other killers and survivors?
The grind is one of the worst aspects of this game. Blood webs are filled with crap we don't want and don't need. WTH would I want to make more smoke on the map as killer? So Claudette has a better chance to hide? Do you know how many bottles of that crap is sitting on my killers because it was in the way of more important stuff? Not to mention the 30 postulent petals or chinese new year tickets etc that rot in my inventory.
No more characters until we fix the grind.
-
If you want to stay upbeat, stay away from DbD and its community. It is all too toxic. I hope the best for you and I hope things pick up for everyone.

It’s not the same thing. You’ll eventually bleed out from being slugged. So there IS a way out of the match.
It's still a waste of time. There should be a way for both to concede the match. I've had those matches where 2 claudettes are playing hide and seek as well. They are a horrible waste of time.
Conceding to the killer should give sacrifice points and only work while slugged for 50% of your bleed out timer. Conceding to the survivor should give escape points and only when 1 gen is left.
Problem solved.
"But what about slugging as a strategy?!" Frankly, I'm tired of toxic strategies being the norm on both sides. I don't care. This is a game and it is meant to be fun. 90% of matches suck anymore due to the bs in the game. Frankly tired of 4 man SWF every match and hiding Blendettes. Tired of being either slugged, camped, tunneled or farmed as survivor as well.
-
How about you make it impossible to remove the trap until its activated. That both slows down their removal and hinders attempts to tunnel down victims at the box. Chances are the pig is engaged in a new chase by the time the RBT is activated and the victim starts looking for boxes.

Swf are annoying: they often tbag, they have an infinite range bond that does not consume a perk slot and there are often no weaker players among them.
However, there is a way to know if your going against a swf. Click on the name of one of the survivors to access to their profile: then, check the names of his friends. You will then know if your going against a swf or not.
Here is what you can do: when your going against solo survivors, you use a weak build to allow them to have more fun, when going against 2 man swf, use an average build (2 man swf is not that bad), and when going vs a 3-4 man swf you ruin their fun with an op build. If a lot of killers do this, swf are gonna get frustrated and leave the game and solos will have fun and stay, making it so there are gonna be more solos.
In conclusion, try to be nice to solos and mean to swf, and congrats, you are now contributing to making the swf population shrink!
You'll be in que all day. Not worth it.
Want to make SWF so common? Buff solo survivor play. Furthermore, when you are killer and you realize you are destroying the team, take your foot off the gas and let them play a bit before finishing them off. Try not to tunnel or camp when you realize you are playing a solo que group.
See, the problem is that solo survivors are tired of being face rolled by killers so they are joining groups of SWF. They are tired of incompetent teammates that farm them in front of the killer just for the killer to down them and toss them back on the hook. That is pretty much every game as a solo survivor and it is not worth playing.
Killers have helped create the problem of an influx in SWF play. Perhaps they need to realize it. I'm quite thankful that I play for fun. I get red ranks easily as a colorblind killer with severe arthritis in my right hand. If I'm absolutely destroying a team, I ease off. Let them get some gens, win a chase or two. Then finish things.
I want more solo groups, so I try to make sure their solo matches don't suck.
-
Personally, on the occasion where I torture myself by playing survivor, I dare not to bring an item as it will likely trigger the killer. I often have killers go off about bringing a map, or toolbox, or healers kit. They see one and go straight to a mori. So, if the wife asks me to play, I load up goof perks and ignore items. I wish there was an option to ignore items in the blood web.
-
Buff solo survivors, buff killers, then it might start to balance out. Have to do both though. If you buff killers and not solo survivor then you make the already unbearable solo play impossible. If you buff solo but not killer then you basically neuter the killer.
I have long defended SWF and advocate for balance on both sides. This game is moving towards a huge imbalanced tipping point though.
It used to be that 4 man SWF was rare, but I have seen a huge spike in those groups to where 40% or more matches I have are vs sweaty SWF groups. I'm pretty laid back, so I don't tunnel or camp and those turn into pretty not so fun matches. This is in large part due to the frustration of solo players. It's to the point where you band together or get camped and tunneled out of every match.
We are nearing a breaking point in the game and something has to be done. Might as well try buffing both killers and solo.
-
I don't want to see SWF gone because it defeats the purpose of an online game....playing with friends. Before anyone says to play KYF, don't overlook there is zero progression there. It's pointless.
On the other hand, I've never seen a game with a wider disparity between a solo experience and SWF. As a killer it is almost embarrassing how bad you squash a solo team. I find myself feeling almost guilty of being a bully due to the destruction. Then you face an SWF and get obliterated to the point that you feel like the victim trying to survive the match instead of the apex predator.
As survivor it is insanely frustrating to play solo as you get face stomped due to dumb teammates, but you can at least marvel at Claudette's mastery of hiding in a bush while watching you die on hook. Or, you play SWF and feel bad for making the killer feel like he's the survivor.
Not sure how to fix it all.

But the forced look down can we get rid of that the stuns i can deal with but the looking down makes me lose track to survivors
The forced look down is the number 1 reason I don't use her. I'm colorblind and can't see scratch marks, so loosing visual contact is the end of the chase for me. I'm fine with the stun, but having to take my eyes off the target is too much.
Yes, they can break LoS already, but at least I can see the direction they did it in and anticipate what other LoS blockers are in that area. That is where intuition, anticipation, and experience come in. If I'm forced to look down, I can't see if they chose the LoS blockers to the left, right, or straight ahead.
@Peanits any chance this recommendation can be brought to the devs?
-
I'm honestly on my last leg in this game. I find little enjoyment in either role. The player base is filled with the type of people who need a serious azz whooping from their parents and the developers are clueless on how to fix it all.
:( Most everyone I knew who played quit due to the community a long time ago. Guess my turn will be coming soon.

First time poster and long time lurker here! PS4 player. Rank 2 Survivor. Rank 16 Killer (LOL).
Toxicity is a topic of countless threads. What I want to send is a message to Killers and Survivors alike, posing a question. Do you love this game?
If so - why are you discouraging people from playing with toxicity? I feel like people forget that the other players are people (and sometimes new players) and that this is a game that needs players to survive. Toxicity chases people, good and bad, new and old, away from games. This goes to both sides and is sort of just a PSA that will hopefully make some people think. Be good to each other, players, and let's keep this game that we all love alive! <3
For those of you curious as to why I felt inspired to actually post... The reason I was inspired to actually make this was two very recent games.
The first was me playing Survivor. A camp-heavy, NOED Ghostface had killed all 3 other survivors with 1 gen left to go. I ran to a door knowing I would be downed, and sure enough was. Rather than hook me he goes to the hatch, kicks it closed, and spends the ENTIRETY of endgame breakdown tea bagging me. As someone who will never, ever rage quit I sat there for that entire time watching this wondering why this guy, who relies on camping to win, thought this would ever make anyone want to play this game again.
The second was me playing as Killer for the sake of Rift points. As a survivor main I have only ever seen the toxicity of Killers (and boy, oh boy is it A LOT). I was horrified to come to the other side and see that after literally every game I received messages from people talking trash only to end it with "and my messages are friend only, don't bother replying f@g lolololol". Seriously? Gross, guys. That behavior genuinely did make me never want to play Killer again.
Maybe people don't realize this behavior discourages new people from learning the game, from 'getting gud' as so many people demand of anyone who complains about toxicity. I dunno. But hopefully this helps some people think about things and consider being a bit more sportsmanlike and encouraging people to keep playing! ^_^
I have long been baffled by that very question. There is no more decency, no more sportsmanship, nor is there any interest in growing the game by treating player, especially new ones, with any level of dignity. I'm not talking about being sugar sweet and pampering, I'm just talking about treating the person as if they were in the same room and could pop you in the mouth if you got overly belligerent.
The only reason this game goes on is there is no real competition for it.
-
Pure bait. Deathslinger is a pretty solid killer. I've had 9 matches today with only 2 escapes. 1 via hatch with a key they found.
-
@Shaped said:
I really love this perk but I encountered quite a few idiots who refuse heals and killer is nowhere near. And it happens at red ranks. Does anyone have similar experience? I am tempted to switch it for something else.
This is why survivor play outside of SWF is pure crap. I hate playing survivor in general as I don't like being at the mercy of the killer players mood on whether I get campedbor tunnel. Add in crappy solo teammates and it is unbearable.
-
If you have map pressure problems with this guy then you are not playing him right. I pick people off of gens at max distance quickly. If you really hat it, use PWYF.
The only way they should speed him up is if they tweak his shot range or limit where he can pull people from. An outright speed boost alone would be too much on him.

It's been less than a week, and he's a killer who requires a relatively high amount of skill. People are still figuring out how to play him and don't have their optimal builds on him yet and are just using the best of what they have. Like, why would I run Monstrous Shrine when I have NOED? As the weeks pass people will get better with him and have better builds, just wait a bit.
I'm a colorblind player with significant arthritis due to surgeries while active duty (right hand and wrist) and I was easily 4king with this killer by 3rd match. He does not take much skill at all. His combo of 1st hit M1, and 2nd being shot that follows relatively fast is insanely powerful.
The new killer is much better than he is made out to be.

-
I don't play much survivor, but I'd say Clown. I have not seen one since December 2019. Might need to put him on a milk carton.
Play on PC.
-
I think their biggest issue is in the vetting process of perks and powers. It seems they don't look hard enough at how one new idea could be exploited when combined with other in game perks and powers.
-
@Victor_hensley said:
They always have to be a dick to everyone, including other survivors for no reason i guess.
Though I don't disagree, killer mains are no different. This game attracts toxic players that badly need a parent willing to whoop their butts for bad behavior.
-
I'll be honest, he mostly is gtg, but once you really get the hang of him, he is hard to escape from. I learned to make sure the first hit is a normal M1 because his recovery is short and few survivors can get far enough away. Within seconds of recovery you have them in range of your shot and can down them faster than I've done with any other non-instadown killer. Granted, this is harder on Lerys and Hawkins.
In short, his ability to down survivors he engages is really fast. There is little a survivor can do. I've only had a couple give me fits, but nowhere near as long as a normal M1 killer.
If anything is changed with the attack speed interval though, they need to compensate with a speed boost. It would be too hard of a hit if they slowed his attack speed without increasing his movement speed.
-
Stop complaining. I just watched Slinger harpoon a survivor half a step from zone out at exit gate. He had NOED, so he literally yanked her from escape at the last possible millisecond and downed her with NOED and Morid her. That is a pretty powerful ability that no other killer can do.
If a few people can hide well, but I can yank survivors off of ledges, pull them from unhooked at a distance, and yank them out of the gate at escape, I'll take it.
-
The new killer is the second best camper mechanic in the game. I've seen nearly half the new killer players hard camp with him because you get an easy snag on the first who tries to unhook.
Shame they keep pushing killer mechanics that encourage camping and tunneling while saying they understand how frustrating it is to be camped or tunneled.
-
I have not seen a single one yet. Only saw 2 survivors running sabo and neither got a hook down. Fact is, sabo was nerfed, bot buffed. It only works if you have 4 man sabo team intent on killer, not gens.
-
@Auron471 said:
So basically, if the killer is chasing you into the exit gates, you can start the pointing emote, and if the killer hits you during the emote animation, you can immediately start crawling (avoiding the stun that survivors usually have when entering dying state). This tech can sometime let you escape the trial, barely. Is this bannable?
1. If they did not stop to point, they would likely exit anyway.
2. The time before crawl is measured from the moment of impact with killer. The point emote continues, thus taking up the time before crawl. This gives an illusion that the survivor was able to avoid that moment of stun. They do not..
My son and I just ran several tests on this in KYF and found no true difference between the moment the killer struck and the moment the survivor could crawl. It is merely an animation change.

If the surv cleanse a dull totem, he will get Oblivion. Only if its a hex totem than there will be aura reading.
I understand that. The aura reading is still overboard. I had enough time to watch someone run all the way across the map and start healing with others. That is nuts! 10 seconds is way too much.
-
The aura reading went overboard with the new totem perk. I have seen a worse gen rush since the killer came out. Nobody is doing totems for fear of having their aura revealed for a rediculous time frame.
This was my concern when we read the perk originally. What we need is a perk that protects totems instead of punishing survivors. Something like Corrupt Intervention for totems.
Survivors have little incentive to do anything but gens at this time. That makes gen times an even bigger issue.
-

This always baffles me. What else are survivors supposed to do? Host a 5k, organize a potluck? They have one primary activity, to do gens. Our job is to get them off the gens. I expect every survivor to jump on gens or they will die fast.

Yep, this is pretty much what every survivor/killer main posts either in forums or post game chat. Heck, it sums up a lot of the whining, in general.

@EvilJoshy said:
Yes a lot of r1 killers have switched sides or went on to other games. It wasn't just the ruin nerf but I think that was the straw that broke the camel's back. You can run into a full group of red survivors at rank 18 killer. There's a few posts on these forums about it.
Sadly, ruining ruin ruined the MM. Ruin kept newbie survivors in their place. Without it survivors are ranking up easier. Red ranks are saturated with survivors causing long que times. Ruin didn't do anything against good survivors so there really was no reason to get rid of it.
A lot of killers lack early game pressure and ruin was a semi solution. Even if it bought 30 seconds M1 killers needed it. Now that it's gone killer can afford zero mistakes. Along with the long survivor que times, killer is being thrown at any survivor group who has been waiting a long time. Regardless of rank. Before if you deranked or took a long break you could get matched against lower ranked survivors if you didn't want to use the meta killers/builds. Now you can get paired against red ranks no matter what rank you are. It's really a coin toss at this point. Either the survivors are try hards or newbies that got boosted. Killer just isn't a fun experience anymore and until the devs address the core issue, killers won't come back. The deathslinger isn't bringing them back, that's for sure.
On the flip side of this, not disagreeing with your survivor analysis; many killers who did not belong in red ranks, but got there in some part due to the effect of ruin, have deranked to purple and green ranks.
Old Ruin was weird. It heavily punished unskilled survivors (those who struggled to hit great checks or had bad connections) while rewarding killers who relied too heavily on Ruin. Those killers struggled already vs red rank survivors, but got hammered when the change happened.
Personally, I prefer the new ruin and run it more often. But I push for gen pressure and keeping as many survivors off of gens as possible. Ruin is a perfect fit for that now.....when it lasts more than 30 seconds.

Hear me out. When a killer is working together with a survivor to kill other survivors, it shouldn't be bannable for the killer, only for the survivor, period.
The killer is just taking advantage of a "not clever" survivor to win the game.
So for example, if that survivor unhooks everyone in front of the killer without BT and the killer decides to focus the unhooked survivors and let the trolling survivor go (because the killer knows he will continue sandbagging other survivors), it should only be bannable for the survivor.
Change my mind.
No, the killer is a player. The player is breaking the rules of the game. If I have a survivor trying to help me, they die.

Again, if a camping Bubba is going to not leave the hook, you can just ######### on hook, ends the game for you, screws the killer even more than camping is going to, and you're off to the next game. Worst thing that happened to you is losing an item and if the bubba was planning to camp you as you say you were losing that anyway. Even in this way you keep your BP as opposed to a DC.
Your logic gets even less coherent when you claim you switched to killer main and suddenly stopped caring about doing well, so they can't ruin the game for you. Well by that logic why did you care so much about playing survivor to the point that a camping Bubba was so toxic to you? See the double standard here? If you are a killer main trying to do well a toxic SWF 4-man is going to be a nightmare, if you are a survivor trying to do well a camper is probably going to be a nightmare. The difference is a survivor can get into the next game the minute they die, survivors are stuck with a toxic SWF 4-man until those survivors decide they want to leave.
Bottom line at the end of the day survivors can just yeet out of a game they don't want to be in anymore, while a killer is literally at the mercy of survivors to finish the gens until they can leave the game outside of a DC.
I can honestly say I've never found myself at the mercy of the survivors. Both sides can be toxic, at least as killer you get rewarded significantly more BP for your efforts.
-
Personally, I think DS needs only one tweak. Deactivate it after the gens are done as long as the killer has not been DS'd yet in the match. It is unfortunate that non tunneling killers are hit when they are trying to finish one of the 2 remaining as they run to the gate.
Just my thoughts....

While I agree in theory, if you play against certain players a lot and know what killers they favor, you could still alter loadouts to counter their go-to killers which still gives an advantage to survivors that they don't really need.
I gotta be honest, I fail to see how a killer can ruin the game that much for a survivor. Even if they facecamp, you ######### on hook, they are penalized because now they can't get 2 other hook actions from you, leading to a likely entity displeased or at best brutal killer, and you're in another game long before their game ends. Even killers being toxic backfires on them.
Survivors on the other hand can make a killer's life miserable for a lot longer by just refusing to do gens and continually bullying the killer with flashlights, body blocking, sabotaging hooks, etc. until a killer either remembers they can open the exit gates or they disconnect for a penalty.
I would respectfully disagree. The killer can do more to ruin the experience than anyone. I started as a survivor main. Played about a year and had many a nights ruined as the victim of constant tunneling or hatdcore camping. I'm talking being zeroed in on from the start to where I could not do anything in a game but sit on a hook. Many of those killers expressed their intent to avoid any care of BP or pips and only wanted to ruin the experience for as many "whiney survivors" as possible.
So between that and the sad BP differences, I switched to killer and have zero regret for the past 2 years. I can't remember the last time a group of survivors ruined my enjoyment through attempts to be toxic. Maybe when I first started and I would sweat over performing well. After a couple of months I realized I could still get lots of BP vs super toxic SWF.
As killer vs 4 man hit squad toxic SWF I can get well over 20k BP and rarely no kills. As a survivor with a hard core basement insidious Bubba I could get less than 1k and feed a troll pos his enjoyment by watching me die on one hook. I have to hope the team of solos have BT and can coordinate well enough or I'm done.
Nope, I'll take the killer role and lots of BP for 500 Alex.....

Just a general thought I had and wanted to get some community feedback.
If survivors could see which killer was locked in their game, would they start dodging lobbies? Which killers would you avoid? Do you think they would bring in specific tools and perks to help them against a specific killer?
I don't think we should see the killer. Having four survivors load up Calm Spirit every time I load Doc would end all Doc use.
I do think we should be able to see the name of the player though. If it is someone you know is really toxic, you can avoid that person. It would lend to having to pay for your rep. Example: There are roughly 5 I know I'd dodge. These people outright admit the only reason they play the game is to try to upset other players and ruin their enjoyment of the game. They don't care about BP or pips, just being as toxic as they can be.
I'd rather avoid those players.

I didn't contradict myself.
If you have 2 survivors in the basement, or 1 survivor about to die on the hook, camping is the ideal thing to do as survivors lose more pressure doing gens than trying to save their team mates.
Camping and tunnelling do not require bad players to work, but they obviously work better if survivors miss-play.
You are talking about situational camping now. Not outright camping or tunneling from the start. That is why camping is a tool, not a strategy. In some situations, you use ot, but you don't try to rebuild an engine with just a 5/8 socket wrench. Won't work.
