The ONLY exhaustion perk that is situational is balanced lol and there's enough variety in the maps that you should still be able to get use out of it most of the time. Bt is a free unhook with zero drawbacks. Also let's not forget adrenaline another freebie. Last gen goes off instant health state AND Sprint burst get a 2 for 1 special with adrenaline for literally doing nothing lol.
DS isn't situational you ALWAYS get use out of it you either get a free full minute to heal yourself up enough for a survivor to get you or the killer eats your DS and now you can continue the chase without ever having to do anything for it at least MoM you have to EARN your free hit lol
And if he camps you till the minute is up well that's potentially 3 Gens that are 80% done if people aren't just sitting around like a bunch of nub cakes lol. You ALWAYS get value out of DS
I agree about Adrenaline but you didn't mention it before. DS is dependent on how desperate the killer is and BT doesn't stop the unhooker from getting hooked. All exhaustion perks are situational, only BL is extremely weak due to map dependence.
-
You want an alternative way to slow down gens with minimal effort? CI exists, maybe something that slows down survivors who work together even more?

That's funny, same could be said for dead hard, DS, bt, any exhaustion perk actually. OoO
Ruin isn't free value either lol, ruin is more like oh I feel like only running 3 perks this game.
OoO is broken but the others are situational. I think you're just naming perks you don't like to face.

How is there a bias?
Getting better at hitting skill checks is a natural progression within the game, if you really want to get better with the game.
And it is a fact, that there are a lot of perks, items and add-ons that can help you work around Ruin.
I personally think, people need to be more willing to adjust their gameplay according their weaknesses and desires. The game offers plenty of variety and if you chose not to use them, it's your own fault and stop complaining.
You can hit greats, you can look for the totem or if you really have to you can even gentap, all this without changing your loadout.
If you address that it is discouraging for newer players, I would rather take a look at the insane grind within the game to get to a viable and fun point and less just get hooked up by one Perk.
In my opinion the biggest issues aren't single perks, not even DS or Ruin, but the maps, gap between solo and SWF and gap between new players and veterans (grind).
Ruin is a big problem if people literally have to adjust their playstyle around it. The grind isn't an issue you can get meta in 3 days. Maps are an issue you finally got something right. Solo and swf gaps aren't as big as people think, definitely a smaller problem than Ruin or poor killer performance. The second biggest problem next to maps which take forever to fix is something that can be fixed at any time: the ranking system. Disagree? Tell me why.

Yui's perks looked fun at first but I decided against it because Yui's lore is generic pandering and I didn't want to reward the devs for it. Looks like I'm grabbing her perks from the shrine.
As for the oni, I would rather play Billy.

I took a hiatus off the game for a while, but I'm starting to get into it again. Anyways, I was trying out a fun/meme build where I'd open the exit gates, and then trap people with blood warden. However, I just couldn't seem to open the exit gates. Is it possible for killer's to open the exit gates? If so how?
You need to do it while the egc is not active

Yeah, I know it goes both ways, that's why I said "player(s)" with an "(s)" depending on what role you're playing.
It's just annoying how far people will go to ruin the experience of others, and again, to clarify, I'm not talking about just playing the game normally — I'm talking about doing things with the intention of ruining others experience. 😕
I don't see how survivors can ruin the killer's experience but what do I know about being sensitive? People get angry playing this game and it spreads. You can spark anger without meaning to quite easily.
-
I would like to see this because there's no way DS actually lets you survive more.
-
I like the satisfaction of succeeding at the challenge.

Ruin is a shoot and forget type of Perk that works against inexperienced and unskilled survivors.
The perk itself isn't that strong and there are really good alternatives, but requires some more gameplay.
Why do you complain about the killer is gambling on playing with 3 Perks?
Be happy, learn to hit great skill checks and do bones if you come across them.
If you need some assistance, there are Perks and toolbox add-ons that can help.
Small Game, Detectives Hunch, Maps, play with some friends on com. Pick your poison.
Good luck in the fog!
Cymer
Nice attempt at trying to hide your bias. Ruin is overused and discouraging for newer players to face. It's not something you should just deal with like camping or tunneling.

My main problem is how most players don't take into consideration of other player(s).
Recently, I got Lèry's as the Nurse and did very well, but they rotated hooks states well enough to power all generators.
Okay, fine, you won, GG. 😁
Nope, they had to spam me with notifications and clicked their flashlights/tbag me before they escape.
Typically, I don't let that bother me, but as a human, you can only take so much, so it definitely kills the mood for me to play Dead by Daylight. 😭
Goes both ways but yeah. Respect doesn't exist for the player base.

I'm not ok with "safe" loops at all. A "safe loop" implies that a killer can mind-game or fake-out a survivor as much as they want, they'll still never get a hit. I'd ideally want all loops to be unsafe loops that force both killer and survivor to reach each other and mind-game accordingly, seeing how the only real "skill expression" in the loop game is mindgaming.
I said a few calm down mate. Hawkins has very very few safe pallets do you like playing on it? That's what I thought.

@Rin_is_my_waifu said:
Do you even play killer? Do you know how difficult it is to win against SWF or even very good solos at red ranks while using a low tier killer? DS is also really annoying so it should be nerfed, too right?
As for the topic, something needs to be done about gen times first before touching ruin. I don't like 5 min games when I play clown bubba legion wraith etc
In the meantime GIT GUD and hit greats or find the totem.
Gen times are fine lmao. Slowing down gens isn't gonna fix low tier killers or unbalanced maps, it's just gonna reduce the player base a lot.

Bad
-
This is not a survivor
-
Fight back is op and the other is a Franklin's rework.
Burdensome envy: If a survivor unhooks while you are 32m or more away they get 10% Hindered for 60 seconds or until they get hit.
Fight back: You have a 16m terror radius the killer can hear. When the killer is blinded within your terror radius they are also deafened for the duration. Your terror radius increases by 4m if you are the obsession. Greatly increases your chances of being the killer's obsession.
-
The survivor perk names don't fit at all but that's all the complaints I have. Great work!

@duke_nukem_18 said:
Waffleyumboy what do you mean survivor are skins?
Survival rates shouldn't change across survivors because they are all the same. If survival rates change across survivors they might as well change across different cosmetics. Understand?
-
Easy: all other survivors see your aura for 10 seconds when you take a protection hit. Add this to its current effects and it's on par with bbq.

Many of the low tier killers would perform better if map were reworked. Many killers can’t deal with strong set ups and just have to leave them. Unless you’re a killer that can just ignore all survivor defenses like Nurse or a killer that is so strong that they don’t have to play it normally like Spirit; you just gotta leave the loop or structure.
I don’t even bother chasing inside the asylum building because it’s so strong. If it were reworked, killers like Leatherface and Wraith could have actual potential on that map.
Not saying that some killer don’t need buffs but map reworks would certainly help.
If maps were reworked high tier killers would also perform better.
-
This wouldn't help.

@Elegant said:
Why would they turn off a perk because players are bad? People can't get better if they don't face things like ruin
The game is hard enough for low ranks
-
They get good, get emblems, rank up, game gets impossible. What else can they do but quit? The game has no incentive to rank up as is and you want to add counter incentive to rank up.

pallet- pallet- pallet- hit- pallet- pallet- they screw up, dead hard- pallet- pallet
hook them- find someone else- pallet - pallet- hook- instant save in my face- borrowed time- decisive strike- all gens done.
Can't you down the unhooker if they instant save in your face? "Jokes" aside, what about windows :))

My only complaint is that the game should be balanced around the SWF not the solo player. It's an asymetrical game a 4 v 1. Balancing around the solo experience would be the equivalent of making all the hunters in evolve able to single handedly take on the monster. Not a good design for am asymetrical game
This would be awesome if solo players had the same info as swf. Would also be cool if they fixed the maps but that's probably gonna take a year or two.

Looking at this post I notice the lack of any useful input.
Sorry just something I noticed for the first time. Let me guess, you're here to complain about swf? If so, why?

@MarsAttacks said:
Skill checks are absolutely an experience thing I can very consistently hit great skills checks with ruin up so can most high rank survivors.
Totem spawns are terrible ask any killer what their AVERAGE use they get out of ruin or any hex totem is for that matter and the majority will probably tell you something under a minute.
Gen tapping is another solution you already mentioned to deal with ruin, so now not only can you negate it by being good at hitting your skill checks you can simply just keep gen tapping.
Let's add on to the fact that skill checks are completely random and I've had gens go with zero skill checks happening. So if it's happened for me I know it's happened for other people. Ruin and any other hex perk for that matter is a much bigger gamble for the killer than the affect that it gives against survivors. Which is sad considering the state of gen completions in this game
Thanks for not being biased

It will not solve the whole problem.
I agree I was just suggesting a quick fix as a placeholder before it gets reworked. Something like faster gen regression would be nice and even synergize with other killer perks.
-
Happened to my friend too
-
Ruin is pretty unhealthy but too many players use it in every one of their builds for it to just vanish. I think giving bp from ruin skill checks would be a good fix atm.
-
Looking at this thread I notice the age difference between pc killers and console killers.

Honestly, if the devs cut out the extremely safe loops of the game, or at least cut down on their number, the game would be fine. You know, trim out the god-loops, shorten the map sizes a bit, reduce the number of safe loops.
It would equalize the non-looping killers and looping killers, so the game would be winnable versus a survivor who can read mindgames. A lot of maps just end up being break-the-pallet simulators due to the sheer amount of safe loops (cowshed/ironworks/mother's house) that spawn.
That's not a problem with all maps. I'm fine with a couple of safe pallets just remove god windows already.

"if your map is so poorly thought out that you're very likely to lose unless the survivors completely throw you have a problem"
I thought that's how most maps are in dbd.

Sounds like you may need to run Deliverance.
Or you can just run the "screw the team" build with things like Left Behind, Empathy (oddly enough) and anything else to keep you immersed and far away from the killer, only pushing generators when you know the killer isn't nearby or is otherwise occupied.
Bond is way better for a screw the team build

Haven't lost this map as killer in a while. Survivors keep 3 genning themselves.

They also make changes around swf by that logic

It's a crutch for many killers.

If you find killer fun despite all the problems, good for you I suppose.
Many people don't, they have said why, and that's why they're not playing killer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Killer has only gotten more fun since the beginning. To start crying rn over hiccups is ridiculous.

Maps are the problem yes but that doesn't mean we should ignore low tier killers.
