I just stop playing after 3 games of unfun.

No counter-play besides hoping she misses. it's impossible to miss setting up around pallets.

Like Pre nerf Slinger with full MS.

Looking forward to well deserved nerfs very soon.

Maybe oh I dont know move to a different loop when she sets up her Crows.....dont be like every other Survivor and try to use the same loop over and over again when she can lock down loops.

You can see where she places her crows and where they are facing.

She can only place 3 at a time.

The cooldown for her crows is pretty long so it gives you time to get away.

Before screaming for Nerfs on the day the killer comes out maybe just maybe try to learn how to counter her.

There actually is a difference. If their description is accurate - which it seems to be based on my experience - the aim dressing doesn't give you any hits you wouldn't have gotten otherwise. What it does is turn the camera once you've gotten a hit to try and make the hit be on the centre of your screen, so that it doesn't look weird.

Auto aim, by contrast, would correct your camera/swing position to give you a hit that would've missed otherwise.

Auto Aim or Aim Dressing there is something weird in the game because there are times I go to swing at a Survivor and I'm looking at them when I swing and my char turns towards a wall slightly or I look up slightly.

While I do think that she will need some small changes that give her slightly more counterplay in future, to make her more fun for some people, your opinion doesn't have to be the same as that of everyone. Some people enjoy going against killers that you might not enjoy going against.

And maybe you just haven't figured out a good way to counterplay the Artist yet. Not to mention that Killers need to be strong and be able to down survivors reliably fast to keep up with the gen times in this game currently. I am not sure if she will actually need more changes, maybe she is fine the way she is.

Until BHVR changes how maps are with all the safe Gens/Loop after Loop/Map Size we will see more anti loop Killers. Personally she is fine the way she is, the people who says "she has no counterplay" are people who DONT want to learn and dont want to stop using loop after loop until the Killer gets annoyed and leaves.

Just like with Old Spirit she had a counterplay but no one wanted to learn it they just complained "NO COUNTERPLAY ERRR NERF". Artist seems really fun and has alot of potential to be a top tier Killer.

I think overcharge is useless cause once survivors tap it, they'll be prepared for it again.

Yeah but it will stop them from tap and running. But that's why I said it won't always work.

  • @dugman said:

I think it should take a 1-2 second action to officially start repairing a generator and stop its regression. Seeing survivors literally instantly tap a generator with their index finger mid-chase and the regression magically stops just looks really really silly. I think all you need is a short action to start repairs to make it a bit more realistic without significantly changing game balance. You could even, once that action is taken, apply that 1-2 second amount of time to the progress bar immediately to avoid unintentionally making gens take noticeably longer to complete on average. (It would still be a very minor buff for the killer in some scenarios, such as when you are chasing someone around a small loop that has a regressing generator next to it, but that’s about it.)

That's why I run Overcharge alot......if they try to tap a Gen Mid chase they will regress it even more. But that still doesn't stop them all the time because SOMEHOW they can make the save midchase.....

I had my brother send that to me once, it never fails to make me laugh. At the same time it causes me pain lol

It's a new game where Kids get sucked into a haunted VHS tape and they are hunted down by goofy B rate horror monsters. The Kids have to make different weapons and kill the monster with each different weapon to win the match.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/297182/lets-be-ready-for-the-biggest-cheaters-wave-ever

That is actually awful. We don't have any auto-ban implemented... lots of cheaters with SBMM especially in higher levels, idk man.

    Doesn't seem good

Oh we do have a Auto-Ban....for DCs which sadly can hurt normal players who don't cheat and when a cheater DDOS or just lags you out and you DC and get a auto ban

  • There's a easy fix to all this......

    1. Make Maps smaller. By making the maps smaller the killer will not be wasting as much "travel time" getting to the other side of the map where the survivors spawn.

    2. Out of Chase speed boost. When not in a chase all killers have a increased speed allowing them to move across the maps quicker allowing them to keep map pressure up. It doesn't have to be anything major. Once you get into a chase you move back down to the killers normal movement speed. Once chase is lost it will take 10 secs for OOC speed to come back.

    Or

    3. Increase the distance required to start a chase.

  • You put a boon in the main building of Mt Ormond it covers 98% of the building and outside. That's fairly broken if you ask me and I don't have time looking for the source of that annoying hum.

So no they shouldn't affect multiple floors. At most boons should be a dome and not a sphere and range should only be 15-20m range.

You got the basics down, but the details are what matter and they're why I think VHS is pretty neat and particularly well designed:

    • Teens have their weapons temporarily disabled if they are hit, and all weapons are disabled an area of effect around where a teen is hit.
    • Teens have their weapons destroyed if they are down, and thus have to spend time crafting a new one, making them vulnerable.
    • Teens' weapons are destroyed upon getting a kill/stun, again making them vulnerable for a time after an engagement.
    • Stigma (teen weapon) damage isn't permanent. You can't chip damage the monster to death, so you have to make your engagements count.
    • Each monster so far has ways of tracking teens, as well as mobility & defensive tools at their disposal that work really well in conjunction with not having to deal with chip damage. Cooldown management, map knowledge, and game sense are key and seem to be rewarded well in this game.

You can't really understand the game that well and shouldn't jump to conclusions by watching one match where someone got steam rolled as monster, because I've seen it happen to teens as well. That's simply a facet of the game being brand new and people not knowing how to play yet. Hell, if you look back at beta DbD footage (HybridPanda has some videos from each side), you can see just how bad people were at DbD back in the day. You don't even have to do that, honestly...just look at new players in DbD.

I don't think VHS is a DbD killer and don't think most (reasonable) people do, nor am I saying people should like it just because I or anyone else does. But to waive away the game because of misconceptions derived from how other asymmetrical games have handled mechanics & scenarios that VHS has explicitly designed answers for is unfair and ignorant.

See I didn't know that lol. So I wasn't jumping to conclusions I was just going off what I have seen and understood about VHS. So I stand corrected but my opinion still stands that BHVR isn't afraid of it lol. Will I try VHS....probably so.

But now knowing that new bit of info makes it slightly better and not so one sided as it seems.

you didn't pay attention to the mechanics of the game at all

No I did survivors need 4 different weapons or 5 I can't remember off hand. They have to kill the killer with each weapon type to win. When the killer is killer he despairs and respawns. Each time the killer spawned in he was hit with a weapon and died again. The match lasted 4 mins if that.

  • It's when I missed a Shred on a Claudette and hit fencing in the killer shack and I heard the different sound

  • @jokere98 said:

    ok, just 2 things

    1. there is in-game voice chat+ping system, so, this game balanced around teens talking (unlike dbd)
    2. about "stun-lock a killer". whenever a teen succesfully use a weapon, (damage/stun killer, break armor etc) he immediatly loses it. Plus, every killer has a way to "counter" weapon

Yeah but if each member of the team has a weapon they can stun lock him. I watched it on a YTuber I watch, the killer was hit by 3 weapons right after the other. And within 4 mins the killer lost the game.

Looping can be different, including toxic too!

    Let me explain:

*Player is good at chases and looping - he tries to brake LoS and escape. That's basic type. It's how you play the game.

*Player that is really good at looping and knows how your killer works. By standing in the open or slowly waling he tries to attract your attention and steal your time. Once you get close he runs to the loop. That's advanced gameplay.

*Player that is confident to the point of [Bad Word], he's doing jungle gym or L-loop with his eyes closed. Instead of hiding or pretending that you find him, he just runs straight to you until there are some distance left, just enough for him to turn around and get into the loop. That's toxic. Extra toxic with clicky-clicky and teabagging.

Don't forget to add they go from a jungle gym loop to a god pallet loop then to another safe loop while tbagging or clicky click after a pallet or window........I tend to just stop and find someone else.....as I'm followed and clicked at repeatedly......

  • I have attacked various objects in different maps and found out they all sound different. I had survivors follow me around listening as well.

  • @dugman said:

The old system was even more susceptible to smurfing since your rank reset every month. And in both systems a selfish jerk could just go afk or die on hook if you intentionally wanted to throw the match.

Yeah but what I mean is have the scoring system for MMR have more than just Escapes, Deaths, and Kills.....that doesn't show any skill but maybe for killer to get a K with a Death Squad....

  • @gammatsunami said:

I feel the same, this is the least I have ever enjoyed the game. Even when I get a 4k I feel bad as I think damn, I am going to vs gods now.

To get a fun match I have had to afk 4 or 5 matches in a row to drop my MMR a bit.

Well my suggestion instead of going afk (unless they are hostage takers then afk away) just play to be silly and have fun. Don't get too involved I'm chases, when hooking someone and you see a player waiting to unhook them just step back and motion them to take the unhook, just be silly about it, try out weird combos of perks out just for shlits and giggles. After I started doing that, alot of the God Teams I faced weren't so Toxic and allowed me to get a K or just allowed me to farm points off them before they ran out the doors.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/296748/i-just-cant-do-it-anymore

If you believe that there aren’t enough high skill killers playing the game then changing the MMR system doesn’t help your problem. The matchmaking could be totally perfect and there would still not be any high skill players to face all the high skill survivors in that scenario, so you’d still be put in matches against higher tier opponents regardless.

The issue is that its WAAAAAY too easy to Smurf your MMR down as survivor. At least with Emblems you had multiple things that contributed to ranking up, not saying I want the emblem system back just maybe have MMR affected by the same scoring system.

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2662879#Comment_2662879

Your MMR will drop, then you will play against some low MMR lobbies, and despite having no perks you'll stomp everyone. So it will feel like you've got better but you've just schooled the system.

Not with the current amount of killers. As OP said there's not enough high MMR Killers so let's say your a 1200 MMR Killer you will be faced against let's say a 6000+MMR survivor team over 20+ times then you "may" face a team around your MMR.....maybe.....right now MMR is not working well because of the current number of active killers.

I literally faced the same SWF in 3 separate matches, not back to back but still.....its making Killer not very fun. I even play to have fun but the troll survivors are getting annoying.....I can hear clicky click in my sleep now.

  • @GuyFawx said:

You can also use a shroud of separation or whatever its called where it forces all survivors to start on the map separately its not always useful but it can help in those first few minutes

That item is more trouble than it's worth.

  • Ok I just watched a YT video of VHS and DbD has nothing to worry about to be honest. We think SWF hit squads are bad well the teamwork in that game can literally stun-lock the killer, you can easily lose the killer in the maze like maps, the bully factor is worse that DbD. For VHS to be a threat to DbD they will have to rework alot of the aspects of the game, which they probably won't but I'm not counting out any game that's in a closed Beta.

So to answer the question, NO...BHVR is not worried or afraid of VHS.

  • @ThanosPAWG said:

I can't wait for overcome to come out because a ok amount of people will swap from dead hard.

And that one perk will make so many Killers obsolete. BHVR wasn't thinking when they made that Perk. Most survivors now when they get hit do a 180 and run in the opposite direction leaving the killer in the dust while they "wipe off" but the killer could still see them and get back into the chase. Now with Overcome, the Killer will completely lose the chase in the current map setup.

Wow, that's an absolutely terrible take. How is your average killer player supposed to know how to get up there? I first encountered this from one of my teammates and the poor Nemesis wasted 3 gens trying to get Bill off of the wagon - and that was a ranged killer who could technically get the shot at a very precise angle. Awful decision on BHVR's part. They need to patch this, not sweep it under the rug with a 'well, it's technically possible for the killer to deal with this.'

That is I can't get on that wagon no matter how hard I try. That is a exploit because no average player can get up there easily. I was lucky enough to knock them down and they flew off because they were cented too far to one side. I guess that's not reportable if they hold the game hostage too by using that glitch spot too.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

Every time I see this issue reported mods say it is not bannable because killer can get in the spot but do not say how so I'm posting this so people can see how.

A short video showing how to reach this spot as a killer if survivors are avoiding you by standing on the wagon:

    https://streamable.com/dec0pu

That's not true that IS a bannable offense because it's not easy to get up there and it is abusing a glitch to gain a advantage.

  • Hmmm harassment.....insults.....racism....seems like the normal flair for low IQ players.....

  • No I'm not what I'm saying it's not a animation bug that we keep getting told that is what it is. Because if it's a animation bug because of the server side validation then I wouldn't be getting the orbs. Besides because of that animation the survivor had a long headstart ahead of me and wasn't even injured.

  • @The_BiggCheeze said:

I'd say turn off exhaustion perks one week then hex perks another. We'd really see how necessary these perk types are to their respective side, and it'd show how HORRIBLY they have balanced this game.

  • She is a Psuedo Camper. Psuedo Camping is not a issue all killers do that in some way shape for form, patrolling around the hook before leaving or looking back at the hook while walking away and seeing someone running for the rescue and heading back to stop them is Psuedo Camping.

Hag can trap the hook and run off to do other things knowing she can quickly get back to handle the rescuer while keeping map pressure.

Putting more than 1 trap at a hook is just a waste of her traps and her time to be honest. The down side to her is range and toxic trolls. She can only teleport back to her traps within a certain range unless you have the iridescent addon that allows you to teleport anywhere on the map. Toxic Trolls just activating her traps to annoy her or just to get rid of all her traps.

  • It's all Hit Validation. The server says the killer initiated their attack before you vaulted through a window or over a pallet.

The truth is you are hated just because you have played as killer. It's something odd to get hate as survivor. It happened to me but only few times. As killer, I received a lot of hate messages even if I'm not tunneling. I camp only in EGC if I didn't had enough fun the whole match.

The real sad part is I try to play for fun....I juggle I don't tunnel I don't camp, heck I don't even use NOED. Survivors will hate Killers because they think the game is all about them. Now I'm not saying all survivors are like that just the troll or toxic players

  • I was told I was hacking before when I was using Lightborn

  • I have to check my recordings but I have proof that it's not just a animation but with Pallets and DH.

I was playing on Haddonfield as Oni and did a lunge attack at a survivor on a pallet, I "hit" the survivor but get pallet stunned instead. The funny thing is......SHE DROPPED BLOOD ORBS IF I JUST INJURED HER.....She wasn't injured but she did drop blood orbs and I went through the initial orb absorption animation and got credited for the orbs. So Mandy if you read this I hate to say that it's not just a animation bug with hit validation but a actual bug altogether.

You are wrong. They will insult you in chat for nothing. Of course I never talk to them. I have better things to do. I would say 90% of them (clicky clicky and teabaggers) will talk ######### things in chat. Even if they escape or die. No exceptions.

I was insulted in chat by a player and another backed me up. Was playing on the dreaded Haddonfield Map as Oni....already that is a recipe for a instant loss. I was being looped left and right getting hits and the occasional hook but nothing great.

They got all Gens done and prepped both doors at 99 (a strat I really don't like the doors should begin regressing slowly at first and then quickly speed up until a cap is hit) but I knocked down a survivor and picked them up to carry to a hook that was right by the door well someone decided to Sabo the hook so I dropped her, they open the door and decide to try to be greedy and body block the one I dropped. I knocked them all to injured state and slugged another one so I pick her up and carry her to a far off hook.

I was thinking welp that's a 1k game because the test will heal the other slug and they will escape. They DIDN'T! They decide to farm points off me by healing the slug to full (which they didn't) as I ran back I slug each of them bu the exit gate and hook a 2nd one getting a 2k match because the survivors got greedy.

In EGC I was told to go slit my wrist on a rusty blade, personally I had worst insults to me, but the other that escaped told them to STFU and that they had a fun game and it was their fault they lost 2 survivors vs just 1

I'm literally doing a two-part experiment right now.

Survivor teams simply do not have time to cleanse all 5 totems and they shouldn't if MMR does its job.

I think I've recorded over 50 games so far.

Survivors have all the time in the world to find Totems. There isn't a time limit to survivors doing gens. Killers are at a time crunch, at the start of the match killers have to find survivors and they to apply pressure to keep the game in their favor.

As others said there are items and perks that allow anyone to find them. In my soloQ matches I can easily find 3 or 4 before last gen is done. Before other survivors complain about NOED they need to do things other than Gens. If one single survivor can find that many totems a 4 man team can find them all.

VHS is no competition. Not even close.

All the Killers who claim that they get "bullied" in DBD (which often just means that Survivors won the game...) will not have a good time in VHS if Survivors can fight back there.

VHS is just one of those asymmetrical games which is announced as a new DBD-Killer by the community and will then die like any other "competition".

VHS is just like Last Year....it had the same style where the kids got weapons and they bullied alot in that game....yeah the killers and instant deaths were fun but they gave the kids a shotgun......

I agree the only reason why times are faster now is because of the double BP weekend. But wait times for survivors are getting longer and longer. I waited a total of 15 mins last week for a match as soloQ and that was at prime time

  • I usually go easier on survivors if one of them DC. It's not fair if let's say 1 DCs when there are still 4 or 5 Gens left. How it goes is 1 DCs I let one go. If 2 DC I'll play around with you but the remaining 2 will be let go.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

    SBMM is so terrible.

Back to back, face-camping, tunnelling, noed and etc..

With the old system, killers were at least discouraged somewhat as you got a penalty for face camping, and it affected the 'ranking', what we have now is just awful.

The face camping is because MMR+/- is based on Kills, escapes, and deaths. Nothing else matters. That's why you could have a survivor that does all the gens, loops the killer like a god, and unhooks/heals everyone but does them self gets a MMR- but someone who does nothing but hides doing just enough so not to get crows escapes and gets a MMR+.

So Killers (not every killer player does this) face camp and tunnel to get at least 1K so that they can get a MMR+. Along with other major balance issues with the game those those of killers don't care anymore and will keep doing it. Me I play to have fun anymore so I don't stress about it.

  • I have said this before in multiple other VHS posts.....it looks just like Last Summer. Had a similar concept, 4 kids trying to escape a crazed killer, weak at first but after they get weapons and gear, even the strongest killer goes down pretty fast. That type is a bully game, if the killer keeps the pressure up then the kids don't have a chance to win but once the snowball rolls with the kids then the killer can't win.

Those types of game seem fun at first but soon die off because people get bored at that concept. The point of the "Killer" role in these games is that they can't be killed or stopped.

I do the same. You know what's coming, most likely. SWF may never be fixed but I sure as hell don't have to play against them. Same when I'm playing survivor. I won't stay in a lobby with a suspected 2 or 3 person SWF. They tend to only care about their friends.

2 person I don't mind because that's manageable, but 3 and 4 is just total hell and those will always be skipped. Let them wait in the void for all time. But I did find a few 4 mans and 3 mans that were fun and actually kind in the end game chat.

  • @MikeyBoi said:

I would much rather get 8 hooks by playing fair and get 4 mand out then getting 1-4 kills by just camping survivors for full hook states.

Mindset over matter in this situation, camping survivors isint going to make you better at the game nor is it going to make you feel good. Idk about you but if I get 6-10 hooks against 4 really really good survivors and get 2-4ed then that’s a win in my books..

Its no different when a killer gets zero hooks the entire game but 1 hook kills all 4 survivors because they have noed during end game collapse and it raises their MMR..

I have been starting to use Monsterous Shrine. It's so funny to see them quickly get into struggle. But anymore I just make builds I want to have fun with and not try to be sweaty or "Meta".

  • Well it's true. I was told to go die and well something else that would get me banned for saying it here in the forums. You can make everyone happy.....just head to the basement and stand in the corner.....but seriously no you can't make them all happy.

I’ve said that they should consider giving solo survivors a small buff to compensate for not being on comms and level the playing field between solos and swfs, but then slow gens slightly to compensate the broad survivor boost and keep the overall balance about where it is.

Allowing killers to leave groups they think have swfs is a non-starter, never going to happen. Literally half of games have at least a 2-4 person swf in them.

Killers already do that. I know I do. When I see 3 or 4 people load in at the same time I know it's a SWF and I leave the lobby because I don't feel like facing them.

  • @HealsBadMan said:

They launched it because they're scared of the VHS beta and how for once they might have competition. That's why it was announced out of the blue only 90 minutes before the Beta launched.

Not really VHS looks like Last Summer and we see where that game is at now. When you give the "survivors" weapons to deal with killers the game can become a real boring or bullied game.

VHS also looks very clunky and will need alot of polish before I can be a actual threat to DbD and its many flaws.
