I mean, it's the cenobite. Everyone knows he's op. That's why he's one of the 3 killers that are played on high mmr. Also solving the box prevents from hugging gens!

This thread is a perfect example on why people uninstall. Yikes
Tbh, if the mmr worked like it's supposed to. You know, playing the first times with a new killer gets you easier survivors...
But it doesn't. So people either have to endure a pretty long lose streak (I remember someone losing over 50 matches in a row with a new killer), or they abandon the idea of learning something new.

Nah, but everytime this topic comes up it only shows the stats from September until now. The stats before are not shown. The screenshots are always cut at this point.
This is either coincidence or ill intent.
Thats why i brought up the "normal stats" from the first 3 years. Which are around 22k players. But you didn´t want to answer to this one.
Weird, almost like it didn´t fit your argument or something like that...
-
Emblems were always like that. Even before the mmr, a killer wouldn´t be able to reach red ranks with 2 kills 2 escapes. No matter what.
Which made the whole "we balance for 2 kills 2 escapes" kinda... pointless to say the least.

"Needs to have 12 hooks" is a lie. An optimal game of killer is 4 hooks, as killing every survivor on first hook is the best play you can make if you are able to pull it off.
Not if you plan on gaining any ranks for the monthly payout. With 4 hooks you won´t pip and even depip at the higher tiers.
-
The game just wants to incentivize you to play the lesser played role.

The RE-Chapter brought a lot of new players and an All Time-Peak. But again, I know that people like you want to see the game dying, they want to see dropping numbers. This is why all screenshots on that matter are cut off at September.
If you compare March 2022 with March 2021, you have around the same number of players. There is a 3k smaller average. Which is not dramatic.
And the numbers will probably go up again with the Anniversary Chapter (and Event), regardless what it is.
But ignoring the fact that the RE-Chapter brought more players than usual is just wrong. And I also dont think that those who started because of RE all quit. Probably many of those quit, because if you are only interested in RE, you might not find DBD fun since it is not a game focussed around RE in particular. Others will have quite because of other reasons. Which happens in every game.
But ignoring hypes and then saying that the game is dying if the player count goes back to normal is misinterpreting the data.
Could you quote me on where exactly i said, that i want the game to die, please? No one wants this game to die. If people don´t like the game, they just stop playing and never look back.
Taking the numbers from a year ago and call them the "normal value" is a mistake. I mean, if you stretch the time frame long enough, then the "normal value" could be probably around 22k players. Since thats the returning value of the first 3 years.
I repeat myself, the devs need to improve the player retention rate. Because whats the point of getting a lot of new players that all leave after a couple of months? Just hoping for some player spikes during events leads nowhere if the core issues are not solved.

I think people would just use it to stop playing against Nurse/Blight or other good Killers.
I love how everyone instantly names Nurse and Blight but doesn´t elaborate on whatever other good killers might exist.
We need more variety on the top.
The only solution for Phobias would be to change the perception of the person. Say, for example that someone has a phobia of clowns. Now in order to not block every clown, how about we just change the player modell of the clown. Just for the person that checked the phobia box next to said killer. So instead of the clown, he´ll see a generic humanoid being (sorta like that one doctor skin). That way he can still play against clowns without the fear of triggering the phobia.

Ringu is not a "significant licensed chapter".
But this discussion is pointless. Players WANT to see this game dying. They always ignore the fact that the RE-Chapter caused an anomaly with way more players playing than usually. The numbers are basically corrected to the normal number of players in this game.
Other games are also not dying when their big hype is over. They just adjust to a normal value.
What do you mean with "anomaly and that it adjusts to a normal value"? All those people that bought DbD and the RE chapter left. Probably for good, which is honestly a shame. Since more players usually means a larger pool of simultaneous matches and therefore shorter queues for everyone.
There is no "normal value" here. Just because the game had less players before the RE chapter, doesn´t mean it has to go back to those values. The devs should take a look at why the player retention rate is so low. Things like the grind, accesibilty, mmr, balancing, toxicity and queues all come to mind here.
Someone who just bought the game, has a couple of perks unlocked and goes against fully decked players that roflstomp him and say "go uninstall". Won´t stay for long. Especially when he looks at how little bloodpoints he made and how much he needs to unlock anything. Its simply not motivating for new players. This needs to change for the better.

You might as well grief if you're going to get cursed out and accused of it just for spawning into the same realm as them
Indeed. This is one of the things i´ll never understand. Why do survivors BM and belittle the killer after a match, when he didn´t camp or tunnel.
Someone who constantly gets toxic feedback, no matter how he played, will end up saying "F it", i´ll camp and tunnel them.
-
For what killer? Some perks play perfectly into the basekit of some killers. While they are a waste on others.

I like WGLF, but some of the conditions (saves) are a touch unreasonable and against a lot of killers you don't see many chances to pick up slugs.
Again, I'm very new to the role so I could always be wrong.
WGLF is the best survivor perk (for bloodpoints). I never* play without it.
Everything else @drsoontm said was pretty much on point.
I made a habit out of screenshotting once the last gen was about to pop. Whenever the killer tries to play "fair" he´ll have 3 or 4 hooks. While camping and tunneling sure feels bad for the affected survivor, it is a necesary evil. Without it, kill rates would be much, much lower.

Mhhh a hybrid. This would balance off the long wait time before he can attack someone. Sounds ok to me.
-
I don´t recommend the agressive healing one. Autodidact doesn´t work with med kits. So its a wasted perk. Switch it with CoH or Empathic Connection.
The rest looks ok though.

Just return him to his original design + allow him to interact with awake survivors that perform an action.

To something not worth using or make you want to go back to the old playstyle before cause it's almost no different
Tell me you want p2w. Without telling me you want p2w.

Feels Wraith main.

Had a similar experience. Basically the thing that was more dangerous to me were teammates that disconnected or suicided on the first hook. If none of that happenend, than the match usually ended in a 3/4 man escape.

This is how a Nurse/Blight main is born Gann as this mentality is how killer variety dies.
Because if they are going to be harassed for losing as a weak killer then they might as well go all out on the strong ones.
If they'd be treated horribly either way might as well play the meta.
Exactly this!
Even more, survivors don´t even say "thank you" anymore, when you give them the hatch or let them escape when they all are on death hook with 4 gens left.
Seen a killer carry a survivor for 3 minutes around, until he found the hatch. He just left. No gg, no thx, nothing. The killer didn´t even notice it.

Never said it did but I wanted to lay out every effect of the perk
I know, I know. It's just that the perk as a whole is ridiculous. The downsides totally outweigh the benefits.
It's just a perk to make the match harder. But should give some kind of incentive/reward for doing so.
That the killer sees from the start that it's active also doesn't help, since no killer will slug a No Mither user.

And no blood pools
And 75% quieter grunts of pain
This clearly makes up for starting the trial while injured!

Tbh, they should give this perk a heavy buff. Something like bonus bloodpoints and starting the match healthy. So the killer doesn´t know that this is a No Mither user.

No, she's already been nerfed. From 5 blinks to only 2.
Survivors are a bit weak against a good Nurse because of slowdown perks. And aura perks are very strong.
But she can have 3 blinks with addons. Don´t you think thats a bit to much?
Is there anything you would recommend for survivors to do against Nurse?

She is decently strong after much practicing.
But do you consider her to be OP? That she needs a nerf?
Or is she fine as of right now?

....if the killer is a jumping spider I would absolutely uninstall lmao. #### no omg. That's terrifying I'd have nightmares for days lol.
A spider like humanoid would be cool tho. Every time someone brings up a spider killer I think of Other Mother from Coraline in her final form. That'd be a neat idea imo. Killer who can transform.
Would you prefer a jumping Hand instead?
-
@Sluzzy said:
I couldn't disagree more I must say. You need to play random matches before deciding on the power level of killers.
The killer meta breaks killers into overpowered territory. But overall survivors are weak. If all 4 can't make it until the end, the chances of anyone escaping reaches zero due to how the hatch works now and the EGC is just grabbing the hand of a killer. And of course, it is easy for killers to slug.
May i ask your oppinion on Nurse?
-
Yeah, this map is pretty much broken.

Have you cross play turned off?

BTW,
- 8 months that this MMR is around
- 8 months that everyday killers are saying it became unplayable
- 8 months that killers are forced to camp/tunnel
- 8 months that the survivors complain about this
- 8 months that everybody, EVERYBODY i know hate the SBMM
- 8 months that the playerbase is decreasing
- 8 months that survivors get 10 minutes queues in the evening
- 8 months of negative feedbacks on this forum, on steam, on reddit and Twitter
But the SBMM is still enabled. Either BHVR doesn't understand anything either they don't care but don't say you haven't heard us... Many other developpers are way more reactive when the community is complaining massively.
I imagine that they have invested to much time/money/work into the whole mmr thing to simply drop it. So they´ll try to find a way to make it work.
At least thats what i would do.
-
Only when my teammates suicide on first hook.
Otherwise, no.
-
The issue is, that for the last 2-3 years the pace of the game became significantly faster. Before that, getting 8 hooks before someone was killed and before the gates were powered. Was possible. But now its like winning the lottery. Killers tunnel&camp because gens fly and gens fly because survivors fear getting camped&tunneled. Even when the killer does nothing in this regard. Totems and even teammates get ignored and only gens matter. Which leads to the NOED complaints.
Yesterday i got complaints from a 8k hour streamer who let a teammate go into struggle and suicided on first hook, because i abandoned a gen to rescue a teammate.
The pace of the game needs to slow down significantly.

That last bit is me when trappers run self arming traps.
There be a trap in the middle of no where with no strategic thought and snap, like come on whys there a trap there 😂
But I defo agree, sadly it has to work on all maps so they'd have to design a separate thing per map for it to work.
Still hate trapper though, just making that clear... screw evan
Oh i also get paranoid when playing against Trapper. Every patch of grass, every window, every door could have a trap. He´s one of the few killers that scare me in this regard.
But thats a good thing. Like jump scare Myers!
-
She has an interesting power, that gets rendered useless for the "rest of the match" if she uses it to much. She would become a true hit and run killer, IF the TVs wouldn´t take so long to turn on again, after she ported there. But as it is now, she´s just a m1 killer with no loop abilty.
Also her stealth is kinda useless against most survivors. Devs need to improve both things before anything else.
A pure addon number crunch won´t fix her.
-

Imagine being on hawking's in the past and there was just a random grass patch because he placed a trap 😂 that would give me a chuckle lol
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/317735/how-hard-is-it-to-add-more-grass-on-maps
As for you OP, not hard at all. I just feel they forget about trapper needing to hide traps but then they dont balance for a high level and iv seen "casuals" as people call them go into the same trap multiple times haha
Or make it a camouflage net that looks similar to the floor tiles. Playing Trapper on the Artists map is quite painful. He really needs something that disguises his traps. So instead of only being able to spam traps around the main building or the shack, he could use them "openly".
I remember a match from a long time ago. Where i set a trap in a random patch of grass near the exit gate. A survivor actually stepped in it and after the match he was like: "who the hell places a trap there?!" That made me chuckle. Its the unexpected thats fun.
-
The addon that darkens the traps should instead create rubble, patches of grass, or whatever there is used on that specific map to disguise the traps.
That way his power wouldn´t feel completely useless on certain maps. But then again, since the maps are random or require the killer to use a offering... its hard to plan for those indoor maps.

Same. While Xbox Series X has some handy recording/sharing stuff, it's absolutely baffling me that anyone would ever have to leave the game to another device to do a report. I have to cut the clip, upload the clip to the internet, go onto my computer, fill out the paperwork, figure out how to get my clip from where it uploaded to BHVR, hope I filled it all out right (I can't copy/paste, I'm reporting on an entirely different device since I can't do this from my Xbox), and then submit it and hope BHVR took action.
I'm done wasting 20 minutes of my life policing BHVRs game.
Exactly! Reporting is so complicated. On Steam i have to copy paste the cheaters ID64, and also my own (why?). But before this, i need to search a page that converts the ID. Then of course upload the video capture on youtube, because everything thats bigger than 10mb won´t get accepted as upload. And all this in the hope that the cheater (or whatever the reportable issue was) gets banned. Since i´ll never know if or what happend.
-
@Adaez said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2886649#Comment_2886649
Exactly, its not worth wasting your time, its BHVR job to deal with hackers not ours.
Sure I fill a report when there's a subtle cheater, but obvious cheats not being detectable?Come on.
I hoped that dedicated servers would allow the devs to track everything that happens during a match. But i was wrong.
-
@tippy2k2 said:
I don't know what anyone expected. BHVR seems to have no desire to do anything about it (besides make their players fill out more paperwork to report someone than getting a mortgage).
So sellers are going to make bank as long as they can until BHVR finally realizes that maybe they need to finally try anything to fix it or the game is bled dry and dies.
I stopped filling out those reports, once they took longer than my matches.
