I guess but simple solution would be don't gen rush and go interact with the killer. I think the main issue i have with this argument is that survivors try and get those extra points when they know they will 100% survivor. no risk what so ever.
Once the gens are completed, the gate is at 99% and there is no NOED. Survivors become very confident to get some more points out of killer interaction.
-
If they gen rush hard, they might not be able to pip. Since they had no killer interaction.
So it might be that they try to get some chase points.

And I tell you nerf healing will increase gen rushing
Most likely.
It's like killers complain about gen speed and the devs nerf healing. Totally unrelated and doesn't help at all.

*not that hard. But often I see gens pop before the corrupt timer runs out.

With a D tier Killer or lower, not even slowdown will get you more than that against good Survivors
Currently i´m testing my performance with 2 and 3 gen slowdown perks. Because without them its kinda... uhh yeah... impossible.
-
Here you go. You can 4k and not pip at all.
To be fair, this might be due to the matchmaking test. Only had 1 match so far and it was really weird, because on one hand, the survivors knew how to loop, but on the other they didn´t feel like unhooking their teammates. I wasn´t even camping or tunneling, but they basically let everyone go to struggle for no other reason than pushing gens.

That happens sometimes
Especially without gen slowdown.
-

Context?
Probably 2 hooks during the whole match.
-
A good killer knows when to camp and when not to camp. Same goes for tunneling.
Does it feel scummy? Not more than going for that 90% gen thats regressing.

This is exactly the problem. A Nurse player is playing Nurse every game. A survivor sees a Nurse maybe once every 50 games, and they see an actual good Nurse maybe once a month, if that.
It's blatantly false that there's "nothing you can do" against a good Nurse, but players genuinely believe that because they get no practice.
My win rate in public matches on Nurse is probably close to 90%, and in comp scrims that number drops to below 40%. My win rate in comp scrims is actually higher on Plague and other M1s. Players would be shocked at how manageable a solid Nurse can be if the survivors actually know how to play against one.
Yep, she´s pretty manageble. But most people are to scared to try to play against her.

People called hit and run a borefest. But hit and run died when coh released. And coh itself forced the killer to basically camp or tunnel to keep any pressure. And it went from "hit and run zzzz" to "why is every killer tunneling and camping". Even though its kinda obvious why. Coh can reverse any pressure gained in seconds. Tunneling and camping has always been a thing. But i feel yeah it spiked a bit because of coh.
I still remember how people asked for the Undying nerf. Because the Undying Ruin combo "won killers matches, without doing anything". Well a killer who wanted to get any benefit out of that combo, had to constantly switch targets. Aka hit and run. I argued that nerfing this would increase camping&tunneling, but people played it down. And well... here we are!
-
@OpenX said:
I am a dedicated camper / tunneler and I still find the game fun. Going for 12 hooks is a fools errand and I also don't feel like spamming Nurse / Blight.
They do kinda demand perfection but I still have fun. It's definitely not a casual game and I usually cool off between matches they are so sweaty now.
It certainly is almost as peaceful as hugging a gen.
-
It really depends. Do you prefer the power role (then survivor) or do you want to play the underdog against all odds (then killer)?

Since we launched our new matchmaking system last year, we’ve received a wide variety of feedback and suggestions for improvements. Some of you have asked for fairer matches, even if it means waiting longer, while others have asked for faster queue times above all else. This makes sense since region, time, role and ratings can all affect matchmaking, and some folks are looking for a casual experience while others are more competitive.
With that in mind, we’re asking for your help to put these suggestions to the test. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be running a series of matchmaking experiments, with each experiment lasting one day. Our goal is to find a nice balance between queue times and fairness that everyone can be happy with.
If you’re curious, here’s a brief explanation of how the matchmaking system works: When you queue up for a match, the game will look for players with a similar matchmaking rating to make the match as fair as possible. If it’s unable to find even opponent(s), it’ll gradually expand the range over a few minutes until you get a match. This way, we try to give you a good match if possible, but you’re guaranteed to get a match if you’ve been waiting a while.
When is it?
The matchmaking experiments will take place on the following dates:
- March 28th
- March 29th
- March 30th
- March 31st
- April 4th
- April 7th
- April 11th
- April 12th
Each of the experiments will last 24 hours and feature one or more tweaks. The tests will begin at 11AM EDT.
What’s changing each day?
It’s a mystery! We don’t want to influence your opinion by spoiling what’s different, so we won’t be revealing what we changed ahead of time. One day may favour faster queues over match quality, while another may prioritize finding the most even opponent(s) possible.
How can I help?
Let us know how each day feels! Were you getting matches quick enough, or did it feel like you were waiting too long? Were you getting close matches, or were your opponent(s) all over the place? Each day, we’ll create a new forum section and ask for your thoughts. You can find the sections here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/matchmaking-tests
It would also be helpful to know what your matchmaking experience is usually like around the time you play so we can compare the effects of the experiments.
Beyond that, just do what you normally do. We’ll be watching queue times and match results behind the scenes to cross reference with your feedback.
That’s it! With your help, we look forward to improving the matchmaking system. In case you missed it, we are also working on other improvements to the matchmaker. You can find a list of edge cases we’re looking into in our January Developer Update: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/302821

This is just another test we have right now.
But i have a strong feeling that most people would complain, if they suddenly turned the mmr off.
Because the issue was never the mmr, but the balancing.
-

Yeah I agree, I guess I worded it wrong. I am still under the belief she is 2 strong.
Tho I'm afraid of them nerfing her cause it could make her 2 weak.
I just don't want any killer like her in the future because to me she holds back BHVR from making any extreme balance changing or strong killer perks.
The issue is, finding a really good nurse (god tier) is like winning the lottery. I see one maybe once per year. The rest of the time i face mediocre nurses. She has the lowest kill rate for a reason.
But there is a big number of survivors, that don´t want to play against a nurse. The moment they hear her screach, they disconnect or run to a hook and start pointing at it. So they don´t get to learn anything from playing against her. They don´t improve their playstyle. They don´t learn how to beat her. If survivor took even a fraction of the time, a nurse main spends on her, to just learn how to play against her. Then no one would complain about her.
-
Have you seen how our community acts when they announce that they move a single hook from one floor to another?
Thats probably the reason they don´t talk about every change.
-
I mean, people speculated that the amazon drop would be some auric cells and we got a pot of gold instead. Thats pretty close if you ask me.
-
Where did you get the "the solo survivor percentage is getting lower every week" from?
I play solo and despite having some bad days, i don´t plan on going SWF. (mainly because none of my friends play dbd anymore.)
If the game can be balanced? Depends on what you consider balanced. Whats balanced for new players is insufferable for veterans and whats balanced for veterans is OP for new players.
So the only way around this, would be 2 game modes (casual and ranked) and balance around high skill mmr (maybe even tournaments).
-
Since everyone is so focused on Ruin instead of Dead Hard (which this thread was originally about).
How about we buff Dead Hard in the same was Ruin was buffed?
-
This one is easy: Freddys rework.
-
Hardcore mode: no HUD, no perks, no terror radius, no scratchmarks, no red stain, no aura reading, no SWF, etc.
-
@IlliterateGenocide said:
Sure nurse is hard to learn. But to me that is not an excuse for them to be that strong. I'm not sure what I would do to her to make her not as broken.
Because she is hard to balance, she is either going to be broken or weak.
A good nurse will never lose against the average survivor.
That last phrase "a good nurse will never lose against the average survivor" could be applied to literally anything. Of course a good player won´t lose against a average one.

If you know that the survivors use boons, then yeah it can slow that down definetly. But its taking a perk to prevent others from using theirs. Usually you´ll see 1 or 2 boons per match. So its more for meme builds than anything else.

@dictep said:

In comparison to any other perk in the game. I didn’t see any of them used alone, without coh
Shadow Step can be devastating on indoor maps.
Exponential is extremely powerful in a SWF and against killers that rely on slugging.
Everyone concentrates on CoH, but ignores that the other boons can also be game changers. Perhaps not for solo queue, but definetly for SWF.
But we´re getting off topic here. This is about Thrill not deserving to be a hex perk.

We kinda have a little of everything here.

@[Deleted User] said:
Regardless of the consensus, I think the fact that survivors in solo queue have to pantomime unless they happen to have a perk says it all. It's been 6 years BHVR.
A chat wheel would be nice. Since most people are against ingame voice chat, a chat wheel would be the closest thing that allowed for some basic communication.

I actually play far more survivor which is the funny thing. It gets more and more survivor as it goes on, especially if those mmr tests go through. I had long queues and very unfun/balanced matched as killer and survivor got boring so I might just quit 😂
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2897841#Comment_2897841
Kinda of topic but I haven't seen perks like that used in ages lol. But yeah DCs need to be sorted and camping certainly need to be discouraged and punished while rewarding those who dont
Yeah i´ve found myself playing more and more survivor. Because its still less stress than the killer role (even solo queue). Even when i have matches like the ones on the screenshots.
I´m testing out some builds. Since Flip-Flop was in the last shrine. Surprisingly, Boil over is still pretty strong. Even when most players dropped it like a hot potatoe.
Currently i´m trying to find out if hitting the killer with Power Struggle gives WGLF stacks. It shouldn´t, but i got the achivement of "hitting 5 killers with a pallet, while they carry a survivor" when i actually just hit the killer who carried me.
-
Solo queue is fine most of the time.
But sometimes you just have one of "those" days. Like mine today... which started with me being gold 1 with 4 pips and uhh yeah, this is how its going:

Always killer mains posting about how solo is fine and how they escape 100% of their matches in solo q with no meta perks. Odd isn't it?
Maybe they´re not killer mains and play both sides equally.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I used to think the rule was to struggle but no one ever seems to take notice. I now just do it to annoy the killer, which often works because they break Insidious to give me smacks.
Years ago, the playerbase agreed to struggle, whenever the killer is nearby. But this seems to have changed. Now i see teammates struggle, when the killer is clearly chasing someone else around the map.

Do you mean how weak hexes are in comparison to CoH? Because every other boon is highly situational at best.
Since survivors can choose where and when to set up their boon. On top of being able to relight them as often as they want, boons are in every single aspect superior to hexes.
-
To be fair, most hex perks are mediocre at best and don´t really deserve to be hex perks. Especially with how bad totem spawns are. But the devs seem to be ok with how weak hex perks are in comparison to boons. So...
-
That probably comes as a whole new perk within the next 12 months.

Exactly.
I might be able to lay claim to being one of the oldest people who post on this forum, and saying this probably confirms it -- but I can remember when showing good sportsmanship in any activity was the norm and not the exception. I don't care or get bothered if I win or lose a match, but I do get annoyed at people who are poor sports whether they win or lose.
It's probably a generational thing (heightened by the young age that this game likely skews towards), but showing an ounce of humility when winning or class when losing is something lost on too many people these days, and the lack of anything resembling it certainly adds towards the bad reputation this game has for its community.
I blame streamers. Of course, not all streamers. But we certainly had a fair share of toxic streamers and people that imitated them.
Suddenly winning wasn't enough, they somehow got a kick out of making others feel miserable.
This is a game. People should play it to have fun. Feel competitive and enjoy after a long day of work. They shouldn't dread to start it up, because of how they get treated.

Belittling? How? Cause they t-bag? Macro? I swear half of you have to be children because in early internet/ps/xbox there was only bullying and s### talk. Guess what? We grew up and didn't care. Wow. What a concept. Imagine being hurt by a game or words. Soft ### cry baby's to me. "They didn't play how I like reeee"
He didn't complain about t-bagging.
He didn't complain about macros.
What you describe is called survivorship bias. Google it, please.

Survivor main propaganda? Lmao. So. You don't play killer at all? Or you just think your pips and rank mean everything?
"OH I went to gate and they t- bagged me, my life is so rough boo hoo feel sorry " grow up. It's a game. People will be crappy, wonder how you handle real life if you can't handle some online people making your life rough. Cry harder. "Must be survivor main cause he isn't triggered by t bagging" or maybe I just don't care and find it funny? Lol
The point you missed is, that he complained about the totally unnecessary belittling from the winning survivors. Kinda like what you're doing right now.
Getting stomped when you learn something new isn't fun. But when you get BM on top by bad winners, then it becomes disgusting.

I have too and you have to admit it's almost entirely luck whether your teammates will actually do anything the whole game or not.
Survivors are other survivors biggest threat.
But you can't determine if you'll lose a match in the first 30 seconds. Because your teammates might surprise you. So the best action is to never give up.
-
@gendoss said:
Very true. Whenever I spawn in as survivor I know within the first 30 seconds whether I'm winning or not and most of the time it's not. Nobody can last more than 20 seconds in a chase and gens take 80 seconds. Survivors are playing catch-up right from the very beginning of the match.
Really? That's weird.
I had so many matches where I got found first, camped, tunneled off hook and still managed to escape.

And in my opinion it's why competitive tournaments don't work, the win conditions make for boring to watch games that don't reflect normal dead by daylight gameplay for killers and survivors at that skill level, alot of people complain about balance without realizing this isn't supposed to be a super serious game it's a party game where your team has to rely on each other, you could be the best survivor in the world and still die because your team sucks.
Tournaments are heavily regulated. Simply because the game is so unbalanced. A tournament with no restrictions would result in a total victory for survivors.
In my opinion, there should be regular official tournaments, like in other pvp games. The devs could then take the data to balance the game accordingly.
This is the only pvp game that doesn't get balanced around high level plays, but instead low levels.
Introduce a casual mode for people that want "relaxing" matches with laxer rules. But balance the ranked mode around serious gameplay.
-
@The_Krapper said:

The OP just stated a couple of comments up that they 4k and 3k in the matches though, I think adept should be made easier but I honestly still enjoy playing killer a little more than survivor personally because If I lose it's on me as a killer but as a survivor it's frustrating when you get multiple brainless teammates who think they're a god at the game but they're in reality hot garbage, they play like fools and then turn around and flame everyone else on the team even though they're t bagging and going down in a matter of seconds
Survivors are the biggest threat to other survivors.
That's why the pure kill based mmr or balancing doesn't work.
-
May I suggest waiting for others to unhook you and unequipping No Mither?
Those 2 simple things will greatly improve your survivor experience!

I hit a solid wall in higher grades. (Which kills the argument grades are only time played - they are not)
Yeah some requirements are ridiculous. If you didn´t had X amount of chases, hits, and hooks. You can forget about piping. Doesn´t matter if you got a 4k or not.
