Why did you ignore the rest of my post? Seems odd.
Because thats a different type of "stress"? Like for example, when i´m in this situation, then i´m stressed:
Because getting all other 3 survivors back up depends solely on myself. This is how survivor should feel (i mean the stress level in regard of "omg, we´re all gonna die").

The problem is, yes, in a horror movie simulator game this should be the case. It is in Friday the 13th : The Game. The Jason can win easily if they try. Problem is though DBD tries to be balanced and for that to be the case the 1 in the 1v4 should be more stressful.
DbD tries to much to balance for 1vs1 and whats worse, tries to balance around newer players. For example, the Undying nerf seems reasonable, when you think about 1 survivor cleansing 4 hex totems. But when there are 4 survivors that can cleanse a hex each one, it suddenly isn´t so reasonable anymore.

"Stress" has nothing to do with "Scary".
For me killer is stressful not because I'm the one being hunted, but because I need to focus on 4 people at the same time and because I don't like being the center of attention against 4 other players.
Being in the same building with someone who wants to kill you isn´t stressful?
-
@Marigoria said:
I believe some games and roles just aren't for everyone. If you don't like a stressful role/game, you can just play something that is more of what you're looking for.
I might be wrong, but shouldn´t survivor be the stressful role? After all, someone wants to kill them and they have no way to "fight back".

It is rare in my matches. I have dumped 6.8k hours into this game so I understand if there are levels of skill, which is why I said it is what I’ve experienced. But for the most past that comes to how long you’ve been playing this game.
Who said you have to dedicate 4 slow down perks in order to have a decent match? I only use Corrupt in most of my builds because Id rather focus on pressuring by downing quicker. Which is why I opt to aura reading perks etc.
You seem to be stuck in this “takes 30 seconds to down someone” where are you getting that from?
So how long do your chases last then? 20 seconds? Because with 2 gens left. Everything that takes even slightly longer, could mean a completed gen.
I´m really curious, since the people that argue, that killers should forget about the first 3 gens, because the "real game" starts at 1-2 gens left. Usually forget to mention, that with 1-2 gen left, the chances are higher that multiple survivors hug the same gen. Which heavily reduces the time to repair the gen and also reduces drastically the amount of time the killer has for a chase.
3 genning can help, but going against decent survivors, a gen 3 won´t happen most likely and even if it happend. With 4 survivors alive, a 3 gen won´t save the killer.
Corrupt isn´t at good as most people claim. It just changes which gens get done first. More often than not, i´ve seen 1-2 hooks before the timer went out, but also 2 gens done (same match). So it barely increases the time before the first gen pops.
Just as an example on regard of the gen slowdown perks. The streamer i watched last night, was exceptionally good with Huntress. He could do impressive skill shots and was able to down survivors really quickly (depending on which tile he caught them). Yet he played without gen slowdown and got barely 3 or 4 hooks before the gates were powered. He played with endgame build and managed to get his kills basically because the survivors he played against, wouldn´t cut their loses and intended to get everyone out.
In other words, gens went by to fast and his matches could have ended in a 1k if the survivors just wanted to escape.
I stopped focusing on how many kills a killer gets, but instead i care more about actual hooks and when they happen. When most hooks happen after the gates are powered, then something is far off. Don´t you think?

do people still forget the fact that every killer is just M1 killer just with a different trick?
So in your eyes, Nurse and Bubba are basically the same?
-
That was me last night: had some time to play. So I powered up DbD, received the 100k bloodpoints, spend them on 1 1/2 bloodweb and then I couldn't bring myself to play killer. Survivor had a queue of over 5 minutes, so I just shut down DbD and watched a struggling streamer instead.

That's if SBMM worked, which it doesn't ~60% of the time. You'll probably have to lose ~30 games in a row if you wanted to get easier matches
No issue in that. Especially with how our community reacts when survivors get a 4 man escape.

You got it all wrong. Killers shouldn't run 4 slowdown Perks because that's "op" and "unfun"
You're probably right. Running without gen slowdown will reduce drastically the kill rate, but at least killers will get matched against easier survivors, that spend the first 2 minutes crouching in the corner of the map.
So that's a win, I guess.
-
Fun fact: with the upcoming healing/bleeding nerf. Survivors will be more inclined to repair gens while injured.
Which means even less time for killers.

From what we know, your MMR on your 'new' killer gets pegged somewhere below your highest MMR on a killer (which is daft).
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2904946#Comment_2904946
This is the other issue, and hopefully with the upcoming MMR tweaks it'll be fixed.
The problem is that:
- When a lobby dodge occurs, the system grabs the next available person with little rhyme or reason. I think that this is what causes the weirdness in prime time games.
- The system does seem to prioritize queue time over match quality, or at least it used to.
That said...something seems to have been changed since the MMR testing. I've had much longer queues on killer but, especially last night, far closer games. Didn't have a single one where I felt completely outclassed or was paired up against potatoes.
Which is kinda off setting. I mean, when you want to learn a new killer like Nurse or Pinhead. Which are obviously very hard. They shouldn't take the mmr of your best killer, which could be Bubba, but plays so differently on all levels.
Losing 50 matches in a row, just to even out the mmr, won't incentivize people to learn new killers. They'll just stick to their main.

Billy became a rare sight. Many people stopped playing him. Which is a shame.

I understand that, and that is not what I said.
I specifically used the word “overcomitting” because in my experience that is the only time I have seen 2-3 gens pop and it’s a very rare instance for me. Where I might have wanted that first survivor to drop ‘x amount’ of pallets before I leave them. So shame on ME at that point.
I just think that at some point people on these forums need to wake up and start realizing that it is not just generator speed to be blamed, certainly not in 2022 when there are too many ways to slow them down.
Also for the record, I know you have to down someone at some point, I just think that you have to be smart about who and when you are downing too. I have no video evidence of what transpired during OP’s match, what I do know is that a segment of this forum will find ANY post to continue the same narrative that gen speeds are too fast, simply because they’ve had a bad match.
The killer losing 2-3 gens by the time he gets his first hook isn't something rare. Happens pretty often in my games. Especially when I play solo survivor.
Does it take you more than 30 seconds to down someone? To bad, you just lost a gen! 2 survivors repairing a gen in coop take 44 seconds (not including great skill checks, toolboxes or Prove Thyself). With 2 seconds of fixed pickup animation, 5-10 seconds to walk to a hook and another 2 seconds of hooking animation. You easily lose a gen, if downing someone takes 30 seconds or more.
But killers probably should just dedicate 4 perks to gen slowdown, right?

Yeah... Idk what other people's experience is but I can surely tell you that when I play new killers or killers that I haven't tried before, I still end up facing really competitive survivor teams quite regularly.
Often with full meta perks, everyone has DH of course, knows how to loop, and quite often Red Rank 1 so they play a lot more than I do lol
It really doesn't seem to matter which Killer I play or how much experience I have on them, most of the time.
Exactly! Because there seems to be no difference. I remember a dev stream, where they talked about sbmmr and how people would be able to start learning nurse, without facing rank 1 survivors (actual example).
Which obviously isn´t the case.

Played Sifu alot on my break on DBD. Sifu basically discusses Wude which is the practice of letting an opponent know that you could defeat them handily, but allowing them to live as a mercy.
These are example Matches that I am having fun as a Killer
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WUKOOCEHWRIO/image.png
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X8S1SDXZ97YA/image.png
Coming back from DBD from a long break (Pre SBMM I had a 80% Kill Rate as a Killer Main). My matches are me playing for 8 Hooks 4 Escape matches. I still play seriously after 8 hooks just slugging or farming (depends on the Survivor if they want to farm or loop).
My Recent match on all my Killer are all 8 Hooks 4 Escape and I haven't encountered any Sweat Squads recently which puts a smile on my face. These Matches are high fast paced no camping, always on a chase gameplay.
After 8 Hooks, I just Slug people then just chase another one which is more FUN I had since SBMM was introduced in September.
You might say "I consider winning to be the most fun in this game". WUDE comes at play here. After 8 Hooks I keep downing people and still play seriously when chasing Survivors. I essentially just let them live, on my mind I just think to myself "I could have Hooked/Killed/Sacrificed them <insert number of times you rekted them> times already". Thinking I could have killed this Nea or any of the four Survivors 15+ times already is a super win for me.
WUDE in DBD makes the game fun as you don't get cucked by BHVR's Bad SBMM and makes all 5 Players in a match Happy.
Ah yes. The overwhelming gratitude those survivors show, truly makes up for the "gg ez" comments you get after playing like this.

How's trying to increase escape rate mean that they're trying to make solo qs as powerful as SWFs?
Solo Q is abysmal right now and increasing its escape rate isn't a huge deal.
You make it sound like the devs want to let every single survivor escape, which is not the case. They only promised ping systems and action status indicators which would actually help Solo q escape more.
Nothing about "power" whatsoever.
The only thing that's abysmal about solo queue is, that there are so many teammates which suicide on first hook, because they lost a chase or didn't like the killer.
-
Maybe it's one of those days?
Sometimes you have bad teammates that suicide on the 5 hook with 5 gens up. You can't really blame the balancing for that.

LMFAO
ME being the one who's acting condescending? Oh, Jesus jumping Christ.
I would politely ask you to reread the entire thread before accusing someone of patronization.
Never claimed to be affiliated.
But I watch dev streams. Where the devs stated that SWF has a 15% higher escape rate and that they're looking into ways to bring solos to SWF levels.
Kinda ironic how you're condescending in the same post in which you claim you're not.
-
I kinda love how our community reacts to complains about gen speed.
Survivors complete between 40% and 60% of their objective, by the time the killer completed 8% of his.
To put this into perspective, this is like 2 survivors dead/disconnected, when you completed half a gen. Oh and the people that say: "those first 3 gens don't matter". Yeah, neither did those 2 dead survivors. They obviously were bad, so now its time to shine for the other 2.
No survivor would continue to play normal. Yet its somehow expected that killers play like this on a regular basis.

@Vakka said:

Yes, I'm sure. Like I said, too many killers on this forum are melodramatic to the point it's sickening.
If you are losing the 5% and lower playerbase of an entire game, then that's to be justified. SWFs are powerful, but balancing around them is just pure lunacy. That's like nerfing killers all together by only looking at Nurse, Blight and Spirit. You need to look at the bigger picture.
Killers thrive in solo q's and that's no hidden knowledge. But at the same time, SWFs trumps all.
It happened to me too when 4 streamers were going up against me. Did I lose? Yes. Did everyone escape? Yes. But do I want to balance things around them? No. If you argue that SWFs are almost unbeatable, then you're wasting your time cuz almost no one on the forum denies this fact. But claiming that these issues are also there in the presence of solo qs is pure nonsense, which make up the majority of the playerbase of DBD.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2904235#Comment_2904235
Why are you here spewing hate and distaste towards a game you clearly seem to dislike when others are trying to rationally discuss balancing issues at hand?
If you hate the game so much then, stop playing buddy.
That's an interesting statement, considering that the devs want to bring solos to SWF levels.

Nope, even survivors back then would proudly say Billy was the standard. That yes he was deadly, but could be outplayed.
Exactly! His nerf came out of nowhere.
@op
The issue is, that most killers would require a buff, to make them viable on high mmr ranks. Since there are only 3 killers that are seen regularly up there and with 27 killers, we should have some more variety. Which also means more fun for survivors. Since they wouldn´t constantly play against: nurse, nurse, blight, nurse, blight, etc.

I quote you here:
"the issue with old Billy was his addons, not his base kit." -
Are we talking about buffs or nerfs?
Your list looks a bit weird, since it names some nerfs for B or C tier killers. While also saying that there was a issue with Billys addons.
No one on earth would have asked for a Billy nerf. Like ever. He was the gold standard for power level.
You´re talking about toning Hag down, to make the survivor experience more enjoyable? Whats about the killer experience? Hag is already a really rare sight. Nerfing her won´t really improve that, unless thats what you mean by making it more enjoyable = never seeing her again.

Communication often causes more harm then good. One reason I dont play CoD anymore is due to screaming 12 yos thats why a ping system is better solution as the pitch of your voice wont detract from good play advice.
Well i would argue for a mute button and that this game is rated for mature players. But i remember high pitched voices from R6. So i totally understand.
BUT voice com is superior over a chat wheel in every single aspect. Just yesterday i saw a video of Otz using voice com for a duo escape streak and holy #########, for just being 2 players, they had a coordination...
So either the devs prevent SWF from using discord, teamspeak and whatever there exists (highly unlikely) or they implement a ingame version. Because i don´t see a way to balance solos queue to SWF with voice com levels by just adding a chat wheel or adding more icons.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2902571#Comment_2902571
It won't but at least you will know who is going to save, killer is chasing who etc. This will make solo close to SWF. And balancing killers will be easier.
Yes it would. I´ve been arguing for ingame voice chat for a very long time. But people are against it, because they fear that they get screamed at or something. Voice chat has worked for a very long time in other pvp games. There are mute buttons and you could just dodge the lobby if you don´t like what you hear before the match. Ingame voice chat is the only way to balance solos for SWF. Because as you see, OP claims that the devs have done nothing for solo queue, when in fact, survivors have more information than ever before.
Anyway, all this won´t solve the rage quit issue of survivors suiciding on first hook, even if someone comes to rescue them. I´ve had people run straight to killer, after i made a save unhook; people stay and point at the hook until the killer comes back; or people that started throwing every pallet after a failed suicide.
Some people are just petty and there really needs to be a system that prevents or punishes this. Most people that would just dc, simply suicide to avoid the dc timeout.

I played a few solo q games today and it was just pure misery. I’m convinced now that it’s far worse than playing killer, which is also miserable a lot of the time. Every single match I played the first survivor who got downed suicided on hook.
But that's not a balance issue. Just teammates that rage quit. Which should be punished just like DC's.
Devs could buff survivors all they want, but there would still be people that rage quit because they lost a chase or are matched against a killer they don't like.
-
I can´t tell you the best. But i can tell you the worst: yesterday
-
First of all: Welcome to DbD!
You started playing during a matchmaking test. Which might explain why you haven´t been matched with players of a similar skill level. At least, thats what the skill based matchmaking aims for (when it works like it should). Which would be the main reason why you had such a bad experience.
Winning is possible without perks. But requires experience. The Perks however can help both sides greatly.
If you stick around, you might encounter a very addictive game. But learning most stuff can take quite some time.

The whole endscreen could be more informative. Like most of the data could be shown on a single screen instead on 4. I´d love to see if my teammates piped or not, what their emblem rating was, how their mmr was affected, etc.
But i´m afraid the devs won´t implement this information, since it could lead to a more toxic endgame chat.

Probably, I did stop playing during alot of the tests and they was so boring or mega sweaty. I only played killer today because while playing survivor it was so different so I gave killer ago and boom. Most fun i have had in ages
Well I have a simple rule, I'll play survivor and of the mmr isnt strict and more chill I'll play killer. If its strict I'll avoid killer, losing due to playing X killer or landing on X map and lose is just off putting same as versing the same perks.
Then if I have all players my skill on my team so we dominant most killers and only ever verse nurse and blights I'll quit playing...
If it ain't fun I wont play, either role. I have many other games out or coming out to play. Wonderlands, evil dead, halo, res 4 remake, dead space remake etc. Etc.
Thats a good strategy!
