Maybe they should stop playing then. Instead of ruining others people fun.

This is why I am letting go on hook.
Facecamped my buddy at 4 gens, tried to do it to my other friend and Nea did nothing but Urban :(
Uhm... gate is open, 1 escaped and the other one would probably also escape or could attempt a BT rescue, depending on the distance to the gate. I really don´t see the reason why you should let go here.

I don't know if you have had the pleasure to play against some slowdown, regression, or save the best for last. But that's just a short list of unfun things that exist right now.
Nah, slowdown is fine. Playing without slowdown just means, that the gens get finished almost as fast as during the event.

Oh yeah we did, but I don't think anyone is arguing that this wasn't a massive shift towards getting killers kill rates higher. I don't even mind dying more, some things that got changed just feel ridiculously strong for killers. Where survivors kind of got some quality of life buffs in the form of needing to run perks.
Well the devs never claimed something different. They even said, that kill rates were below expectations. So of course, this whole patch was aimed at increasing those. I´m just not sure, if they had the collective tantrum, that our community was throwing, in mind.

Or bring swf down to solo levels and limit their numbers or give them a handicap.
That would be the best step. But watch how that idea gets instantly smashed.

Yeah I was just curious why probably the best perk in the game right now needed a buff. BT is also very strong but really only shines in end game collapse.
Nah, i wasn´t saying that it needs a buff. Just stated how survivors also got stong things with the patch.

Its always a bless for me that to get with 2-3 swf, I always like to separate from them and make noise to make Killer comes to my side and leave teammate doing Gens. Its really fun to see Killer trying to find me while a Gen done behind, I have done this with noise making build (Diversion, Anymean, Sabo, Bond) against Demo in Lery, 3 Gens done before Demo even able to find me and start first chase.
Though unhooking gain the most point, 1 hook equal to a Gen. Not surprise if one gets alot of BP. BP doesnt prove that much. I could do 3 Gen alone, and do some totems while another teammate just go for unhooking, healing... and my BP is half of theirs. Unhooking BP is the reason I cant trust post score.
But they didn´t do a gen. They just attempted rescues against a camping killer, while injured.

Welp. For reference, and fun.
80 x .22(full thana stacks) = 17.6
80 + 17.6 = 97.6 seconds per.gen
97.6 x 5(gens) = 488 seconds
488/60 = in match for 8.13 minutes.
Now current gen times.....
90 x .22 = 19.8
90 + 19.8 = 109.8
109.8 x 5 = 549
549/60 = 9.15 minutes minimum in game
That's NOT including things like 400 % regression from COB and overcharge.
9 minutes minimum in game is pretty crazy just by itself. It IS an extreme. But yes. 1 extra minute in game is a lot.
Staying injured and doing all 5 gens makes zero sense. Also, you count those numbers as if 1 survivor would have to repair all 5 gens alone. Which isn´t realistic. On top of that, CoB and Overcharge don´t do 400% regression (which would be the normal repair speed for a single survivor).
-
Did we ever had so many perks/modes/killers kill switched at the same time?
-
Yesterday, got matched with SWF as solo against Legion. They stayed together at all times, while i separated from the group. Repaired the only gen of the match. They were constantly downed by a camping killer. Managed to get 3 unhooks, but healed in between instead of going in injured.
Endgame chat: "bg, Jane" "you healed instead of unhooking" "with your amout of hours, you should know not to heal against Legion" "thats a waste of time noob" etc.
Ended up with double their bloodpoints, but apparently wasn´t doing anything during the whole match. *shrug*

I honestly don't know why it hasn't been implemented yet. Most team games have them (OW, Valorant, R6Siege, the list goes on) and they work more or less. I definitely see the downsides to in-game voice chat but there are a lot of positives too and like most games, there should always be an option to opt out of VC or mute specific people, etc. Overall, I think it'd be a nice experiment.
Yes, but our community is afraid of this.

I wouldnt call last patch small changes. The killers buffs are subatantial and imo necessary. Blade wipe+ gen time+ gen regression+ a heap of perk changes. Last patch was huge. There are some underutilised under appreciated changes. The haste change is crazy good and bt endurance time + haste increase is pulling serious weight in my games.
That being said the doomsaying of killer op has not affected my games in the slightest bar the inability to play killer. I have gotten more variety of killers and its seen some killers like doctor and pig finally appear in my games as opposed to blight 24/7
Ok ok, i admit i expressed myself a little bad here. What i was referring to, was the basekit changes. That are small changes. But according to our community had a big impact.

A clear way to really punish camping and tunnelling (as promised)
Solo survivors better communication and buffs
gens back at 80 seconds
COH removed or nerfed into oblivion
- Base BT + speed boost. BT buffed, OTR buffed.
- There probably come some icons
- Won´t happen, especially after they nerfed the meta slowdown perks hard.
- With the current line of Boons/anti Boon perks. Highly unlikely that they remove COH.

Player count this month was the biggest drop in DBD history. The numbers arent climbing back up at all. Theyvre hovering and slowly decreasing. Down 30% on last month overall, and down 1/3rd on July last year.
Given that this patch was supposed to break up the meta and make the game new and fun again its awful figures.
Yeah about that. Player count has increased by 1k since the patch was released. So the patch actually brought more players back.

Do explain how you've come to that conclusion, because part of playing with friends is volunteering information. It would be a huge buff to solos, and wouldn't benefit SWF at all since they're already relaying that information to each other.

It's just something I've measured during the night games. So of course there is some discrepancy with global numbers : groups don't form easily during the day. Solos were usually with and SWF3 and and SWF2 and very rarely as four single.
If you look at the graph, it kind of makes perfect sense.
The SWF3 has to be completed by a solo, so you can remove their height from the solo one, that's about 10%
Then there is almost 30% that can go in the SWF2: statistically, only half of SWF2 will be fitted together 15%, times two for the solos obviously.
Which means that globally there are (50 - 10 - 15 * 2 = ) 10% of purely solo groups.
When I did that night-time measurement, what I got was: SWF4 : 20% SWF3 : 40% SWF2 x 2 : 10% SWF2 + solos x 2 : 10% Solos x 4 : 6%
My solo number of 6% is lower than the 10% I've used in the previous post. Since it was night-time I was assuming the number was higher for a whole day (when friends were busy at work or something) so I've doubled and rounded it for safety.
Thats an old and outdated chart.

In 2021 it was 54% solo players, even if we assume that solo players have dropped since SBMM it's probably still between 40-50% solo players, I doubt that pure solo groups are only 10%
Thats an interesting chart. Especially since its from 2019.

It leaves them without information. Let's say Survivor A & B are on gens, Survivor C is in chase, and Survivor D is near Survivor C unsure of whether or not it's safe to work the nearby gen. If Survivor D had information to tell them what their teammates are doing, they'd know they can jump on the gen.
This information doesn't benefit the 3-man SWF because they already have this information via comms. A & B already know that C is in chase. A knows B is on a gen, and vice-versa. The information benefits Survivor D because they're solo-queue.

More information, maybe have some UI showing what people are doing, maybe possible dialogue options to tell others what to do and coordinate better. Voice/Proximity Chat wouldnt be a terrible option, but in areas with people speaking multiple languages it might not be as helpful of a solution (EU) (also the community is not at all against V/PC, the developers have made it very clear that they dont want to add V/PC due to it not being super accessible with multiple languages involved).
Also if you bring SoloQ up to the level of SWF, maybe you can balance the game better? Maybe you dont have the survivor community completely split over the way they queue into a match? There is clearly an issue with SoloQ just overall being a worse experience so it shouldnt be ignored because the killer got bullied once or twice, everyone has rough matches from time to time, it's not that huge of a deal.
You´re all making very good points. Thank you for the discussion. Devs will probably introduce some icons that show what every survivor is doint at all times. Which... knowing our community... will result in great endgame chats full of accusations. Because someone did one thing instead of another.

The thing is, it is not a matter of opinion, it's a fact that action icons need to be in the game, I've read all your comments and the value soloQ players get from action icons and base Kindred is so incredibly high, it doesn't matter that SWF also would get a side effect buff. In-Game voice chat wouldn't work here in Europe and I personally, have zero interest in talking to strangers and even think it would be the worst way to address soloQ.
Its just that survivors often ignore Kindred. Having it basekit would mean that killers would have to get a compensation buff. Since, you know, devs can´t buff one side without also buffing the other.
All for something that might get ignored.

The buff to swf would be small at most tbh. For solo queue it drastically improve solo queue. The biggest causalty of a ping system is hex totems. If no action is taken and the communicatiom changes are pu in as people suggest these perks will likely be far to weak.
I wouldnt mind hex totems being weaker if the solo queue problem is fixed sooner rather then later.
The problem with "small" changes is. That they get blown out of proportion by our community. The last patch is the best example

Action icons as in what each survivor is doing at any given moment. In a three-man SWF, three of the four players are on comms. They're already communicating if they're on gens, if they're healing, if they're in chase or if they're going for an unhook. Where does this leave the fourth?
On the hook. It leaves him on the hook.

We’re better off with a pinging system similar to apex or VHS. Gives good info but doesn’t force people to use voice chat to play optimally
With how bad this community is I know I wouldn’t use voice chat in 90% of my matches which would lead to people annoyed at others for not using it. The ping system is easy to use and doesn’t force you to talk with randoms
As you said, with how our community is, a ping system could be equally as annoying. Spamming pings.
But yeah, a chatwheel could be nice.

Then play something else. No one is forcing you to play. Taking a break is something most people do.

Ye, I played my first matches with the new patch last night. Instant queue as survivor. Didn't notice a big difference in tunneling/camping or DCing tbh, although I might have been lucky. Game was much harder though, with quick chases in general. I only escaped 1 out of 8 matches where the Killer made a big mistake at the end and gave up a decent 3 gen. Most rounds was 4Ks at 3 +/-1 gens left.
Will try out some Killer games as well before I make a conclusion for my own.
People just need some time to adapt. Player count is also increasing. Which is a good sign. I´m confident, that in 1 or 2 weeks, people complain about the same stuff, they did before the patch.

@Tsulan Hard talking to so many brick walls, right?
----
Comms do not give info, they RELAY or SPREAD info. They're also prone to human error or delay as the survs still need to decide if they want to spread the info they gathered. There are only a few mechanics that actually do what comms do, without giving more.
UI-gimmicks like the action icons are instaneous, permanently available to survivors, if implemented, Auras would be gamebreaking, as they'd be even more precise.
And as for the "it doesnt buff SWF"-crowd. "Solo" and "SWF" are still mechanically both just "Survivor", the devs wont just suddenly start adding differences. "Survivor + [Free info mechanics]" will still be weaker than "( Survivor + [Free info mechanics] ) x Comms". Best Case Scenario? All those Info mechanics just MOVE the Solo-SWF-gap upwards. Worst Case: The gap widens even more.
Yes! Its really hard. I just want, that solos and SWF have the exact same starting point for information. Which is comms.
Killers get starved on information on their hud, while survivors are saturated. At one point it has to be enough.

I didn't take it personally. But it is really obvious that you think about what you say (write) is written in stone without anything, just cause you wrote it. All your argument is that you keep repeating that icons would give benefit for SWF, and the game needs voice. And when people say something whay it is not true, then you just say it again just cause "i already posted several times".
BHVR already said, that they want give action icons to show what everybody doing for info. So i really do not understand why people argue about that :D
I could be wrong. I could be right. All i know is, that the information level for both solos and SWF have increased.
Take the exposed status for example. Years ago, before the icons where introduced in an attempt to bring solos and SWF to the same information level, survivors didn´t knew they were exposed until the killer hit them. Even a injured survivor wasn´t sure, if he was downed by a normal hit or exposed hit.
Now everyone knows that they are exposed. Independently if the downed survivor was injured or not. This took a major surprise effect away and is something the devs have to take into consideration for whatever they´ll finally do.

@JoByDaylight said:

This we can agree on.
My point being that before the patch SWF was by far the dominant role, followed by killer and then solo q which in general and objectively is looked at as the weaker part. People would in general most likely want to play the dominant part. After the patch, SWF and Killer seem more equal, while solo now is way behind. People would much rather play killer than solo q - which is now mirrored by the queue time.
The queues are slowly going back to normal. Yesterday evening, i had to wait 2 minutes at most as killer. I´ve noticed from solo queue, that my teammates also start to play normal again. Which is a good sign. All in all, i´d wait another week to see how everything goes. Especially with the bonus bloodpoints coming back.
-
@JoByDaylight said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090140#Comment_3090140
So by your first comment "Since survivors had long queues before the patch, what does that say about the status of the game?", Your logic is that people have friends?
That the amount of people wanting to play during prime time, is higher for survivors than it is for killers. Prime time is what matters the most, as thats the time when most people aren´t working and can choose to play whatever role they prefer.
Now in regard of the friends, this implies, that SWF is the predominant role during prime time. Or at least so high, that it affects survivor queues.
Either way, this leaves 2 possible outcomes: 1. SWF is much higher than we think or 2. killer wasn´t in a good spot. Both lead to the same result, since SWF has a higher escape rate.

We understand, YOU want coms. But others don't. And as somebody said - you still didn't say anything about how information icons would benefit more SWF teams when they are already on comms and they say what happens...
Just expressed my opinion. Just as you and everyone else expressed their opinion. Never claimed that mine is the alpha or omega. Or, unlike others did, have claimed that their opinion is wrong.

The info given should be icons, not aura. I listed it before. Know someone else is doing Gen or in chase, without knowing where they are, is the point.
Edit: what Solo truly lack of is the time efficient on Gen, no thing else. Spending 20sec running to a hook only to see another teammate does the unhook, then you spend another 20sec go back to Gen. That is half the Gen time.
Making Solo increase their Gen efficient and we can truly see how fast Gen go, there for they can truly adjust survivor's objective.
Go ahead, give survivors this information.
But it will still not be enough to bring solos to SWF information levels.

Nobody wants to be forced to chat to strangers, especially if they don't even speak their language. This might be a solution in the US, it's a complete non-solution anywhere else in the world.
Increasing survivors base info is something that would buff solos but not SWF. The info is superfluous to voice chat, so it doesn't provide them with any benefits.
"Every attempt to buff solo queue to SWF information levels has also buffed SWF"? Name one instance. They haven't tried to buff survivor information yet.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3090126#Comment_3090126
No it's not. Every buff to survivor information also closes the gap. Maybe not as significantly as forced voice chat would, but it's a much more realistic and reasonable solution.
I´ve already posted several times where the information for solo queue, also helped SWF. In this very thread.

It's not really even the gen slow that's the issue. It's everything compounded together. I don't really mind 10 second longer gens. Chases are just too easy for the killer and it isn't fun.
I want the pallet break, attack cooldown, bloodlust buff and the speed on hit nerf reverted along with DS going back to 5 seconds and a Nurse nerf since Dead Hard was only counter to her.
So you want to return to the easy games for survivors. When kill rates were below expectations.

bt wasnt really buffed since it gives less distance then ever now. you can just smack a unhooked person instantly off the hook to negate bt/off the record and then just catch up in 16seconds as opposed to the old 20
It gives more distance, since survivors get a speed boost along the endurance effect. Also old BT gave 12 seconds. Not 20.

After the patch Killer is closer to SWF level and solo is so far behind that people would rather not play it.

Only way to close the gap is ingame voice chat.

SWFs are talking in voice chat, you know that right? They are already telling each other what happens. This buff will be pointless for SWFs while helping solos.
I just don't know why you are against buffing solo survivors that much. What is wrong?
Because, and i´ve said this already several times. Every single attempt to buff solo queue to SWF information levels has also buffed SWF.
I´m not against buffing solos. I´m against buffing SWF.
Give us ingame voice chat, and i´m the happiest solo survivor you´ll find on this planet. But don´t add more hud elements that also benefit SWF.
Or lets say it differently, i wouldn´t be opposed to additional hud information IF that information was for solo queue only, while SWF don´t get access to that.
