Yea well having 3 lives would be kinda busted. What i mean is off the record is pretty much useless if the killer really wants you out because hitting you instantly after an unhook removes off the record thats what i meant :)
Thats why i said we can´t have nice things. ;)
OtR is great when the killer isn´t tunneling. But SWF uses it to body block even when the killer isn´t tunneling. Some people like to weaponize perks and use them in unintended ways.
The devs will probably turn the stun timer for DS back to 5 seconds. Just like they previously did.
Now what i think, the devs really need to implement, is a secondary objective for survivors. Something more than just gens. Having all 5 gens completed in less than 4 minutes just forces killers to play "scummy" by turning the 4vs1 into a 3vs1, which is more manageable. But having more breathing room would allow for better paced matches. Killers still struggle with gen speed, which is reflected in the killer meta. Which still consists of 4 slowdown perks. Until that changes by adding a different objective for survivors, the killers will still play... like they do now.

Yea but i mean if you run off the record and they hit you instantly you would have had basekit borrowed time anyways... and since off the record is being run more often than DS its pretty much risk free to tunnel that survivor out and risk the whatever 2% chance that he/she runs DS.
I wouldn´t mind if the basekit BT would give a different "health state" than OtR. But SWF would probably abuse this ad nauseum. Just like they did on the PTB.
-
The solution for 3 gen is Deja Vu + Potential Energy.
Equip them
Use them
???
Win

Yea and everyone saying there is no reason to tunnel and its never been less rewarding blah blah... If someone gets unhooked and you hit them instantly off the record doesn't really matter and almost no one uses DS anymore it's literally risk free and in worst case scenario DS is only 3 sec so you can't really get anywhere unless you're close to a loop already... I see way more tunnelers now than i did with old DS people were literally scared of DS now well... one cares anymore
You are not downed instantly. So i´d say OtR does, what its supposed to do.
On a more serious note, we can´t have nice things, because people abuse them on the PTB. Or would you be fine with the fact that killers needed 5 hits to down a single survivor?
-
Because there sadly have been a lot of Bully squads. No one likes to play with or against them. So SWF has a bad reputation.
-
People already forgot the Boil Over rework?
Or how blatantly OP CoH on the PTB was?
Nah, the devs are not scared, but our community is great at finding ways to use perks in ways that the devs never imagined.
-
*looks at the basekit BT, the upcoming basekit Unbreakable and how the survivor meta is still exactly the same.
Are we looking at the same game?

I’ve been helping some friends learn the game and running bond at low MMR might be the most infuriating way to play DBD.
Because you see a lot of Self Caring in the corner of the map. Or people that are afk.
Yeah, the perk helps evaluating the situation.
-
Rougly 50%. Some days below, some days above. It usually stands and falls with how the rest of the team behaves. If i get teammates that suicide on their first hook, then its usually a loss. If i get teammates that know what they do, then its usually a win.
Also Bond does help a lot. I can avoid running the killer into my teammates or keep doing gens peacefully inside the killers terror radius, because i see my teammates running in circles.

Pain Res still gets used every other games
Pop, is used less but still I see it every 3-4 games.
DMS is still in every 2-3 games.
So I don't know what you're talking about pretending these perks aren't still being used
Official stats say something different.
Key word: Official

Hey potential energy is good if you know when and how to use it.....I have used it to get those dangerous one person gens done quickly, avoided Tinker with it, and help break a 3-Gen with it....just have to know when to build it up or when to not. Most use it wrong and hinder thier team.....
Deja Vu + Potential Energy is the counter to 3 gens.
Sadly, most people that use it, use it on the same gen they are working on. Instead of using it to prevent a 3 gen.
I hope a big streamer picks it up and people start to use it correctly.

I still miss OG Ruin tbh
For me it was the most balanced and healthy combo we ever had.
-
Survivors: complain when the killer instantly kills everyone after someone disconnects early. Leaving everyone with 5k bloodpoints or less.
Also Survivors: this post...
Could you please make up your mind? Do you want killers to farm with you, so you get at least the 20k bloodpoints and have something like a match or do you want a ultra short match?
-
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
The biggest problem with the current meta for me can be summed up in one word: ERUPTION
I have no issue with gen slowdowns in general but stacking full slowdown builds with Eruption is just brutal against solos and very unfun to deal with.
Miss old Undying Ruin yet?
-
Hey, maybe if enough killers play like this, Deja Vu + Potential Energy becomes meta.
-
@RakimSockem said:
So remember back when there was this big hoopla about how 40 perks were being changed and this was supposed to shake up the meta and make different playstyles come to light.....
Yeah that happened on the survivor side, but the killer meta changed very little (if at all).
95% of my games yesterday against various killers were "Eruption, Call of Brine, Pain Res, + insert aura reading perk here". Now while you can argue that "technically" it's a meta change because Eruption wasn't used before the buff, it has the same affect as the old meta perks so the playstyle is the same, except more boring now because killers break chase every 15 seconds to kick a gen.
Meanwhile when I look at survivor perks in most games, there's a huge variety of perks being used and different playstyles at play. Some people go for extreme healing builds. Some go for gen rush (I find those boring), some go for stealth, while a few stick with the old meta (Dead hard, CoH, etc)
So I would love to see an ACTUAL change to killer meta perks to the point where I don't have to run into the same boring perks 30 games in a row
None of the killer meta perks from before the 6.1.0 patch are still meta.
All of the survivor meta perks from before the 6.1.0 patch are still meta.
At least according to the official stats. So i don´t know what you´re talking about.

Time to go to bed grandpa..
Now jokes aside, soloQ is in the worse state i have seen in all this years (been playing since 2016), i rarely play dbd lately because of this, its not fun obviously. Most of the times its like your teammates are doing the challenge of who is the most potato or the most crybaby that dc faster.
The devs should start giving tools to soloQ to balance things, like kindred basekit and game mechanics changes like removing the possibility to suicide, but the most important thing is a working matchmaking not the crap we have now.
We need a decent matchmaking because It doesn't matter how many times you die in a row all i get is pro killers maybe only 1 or 2 not so skilled in 10 games and my teammates are like 70% of the times a potato lying on the keyboard.
Now i don't know if this is because i play since 2016 and maybe i have a MM so high that never lowers but if it was like that then i should get more decent survivors but its not the case, it looks like the matchamking only works to match me with skilled killers but fails to match me with decent survivors.. so in others words its broken.
Solo queue is in one of the best spots for years. If you played back in 2016, then you should be aware, that survivors had no information at all back then. You had to pay attention if the downed survivor was injured before or not. If there was a Hex or any perk affecting you. All you got was some tiny arrows pointing in one direction or another on the progress bar.
Basekit Kindred won´t help. Just take it (well now its bugged, so don´t actually take it) and watch how your teammates ignore the information from it. Like seeing Bubbas Aura vanish in the basement and multiple survivors run straight to the Basement. Sadly, the people that would benefit from Kindred (inexperienced players) will ignore it and the ones that know what to do with the information, are experienced enough to know that the basement Bubba is a trap.
In regard of the matchmaking, i think that is something our community screwed up. After the 6.1.0 patch we tons and i mean tons of players that would suicide on first hook. Tanking their own and their teammates mmr rating, while also boosting the killers rating. My guess is, that it will still take months before the system starts to assign correctly IF people start to play normally again.
Also the Archive challenges are doing everything to tank peoples mmr rating. By giving out missions that require players to play like potatoes or gods.

I wonder what the actual true escape to kill ratio is for solo queue?
If you were to take out SWF data and add in DC's as part of the kill data (because 1 DC basically means a 3-4k in most cases), I would put money on that the kill rate is like way up at 80-85% quite easily.
Solo queue really is in a sorry state at the moment. I would class myself as a killer main that likes to dabble in solo queue from time to time and I honestly feel sorry for anyone that only plays survivor in solo queue. I'm honestly not surprised that the survivor population has significantly decreased.
Aaand you would lose that money.
Solo queue is in a pretty good spot right now. The only thing thats beating survivors right now, is other survivors. As you already recognized by suiciding/disconnecting. Apart from that, i don´t see a shrinking survivor population. Or where do you get those numbers from?

Yes, and a lot of people enjoy events. People being "horrible" is subjective. I´ve seen one side complain when the other was memeing the event. People completely ignoring the snowmans, even when they are surounded by 3 or 4. But i´ve also seen people enjoy the event by mindlessly jumping everyone into a snowman and just joking around.

Whats wrong with playing against a killer whos power is to spread damage evenly instead of tunneling a single survivor out?
-
This seems to be a skill problem. Maybe try playing as the Knight, to see how his power works and where his weaknis is. Knight is hardly C tier. Currently he´s fighting for the crown of being the weakest killer.
You can outrun 2 of 3 guards by just running into one direction.
The guards dissapear when you unhook a survivor or grab the flag pole. So camping with his guards is actually wasting his power.

Killers in general get insulted over anything. If no matter what you do is going to end up with someone insulting you, might as well play to win.
People should just play how they want. Leaving a toxic message after the match is just... immature. It won´t change the way the addressed player plays. It won´t have an impact on your next match.

I mean, I think everyone gets insulted, not that long ago I got post-game harassment from a killer for solving the box (it was Pinhead) and ending their Chain Hunt, which ended up getting a 3-man out as a result. The killer spent the entire time nodding "no" at me on hook and even when I was dead on hook they kept doing it.
I just think since you see 4 survivors and 1 killer, since there are generally more survivors, you see more survivors harassing the killer, but the % of people harassing the other side is the same. Same %, just one has a higher population.
Idk if this makes sense. I hope it does.
Nah, i can count the insults from killers on my profile on 1 hand. The other 62 pages of "love messages" are from survivors. Even when taking the 4 to 1 ration into account it still doesn´t match.
Some people are simply salty. Doesn´t matter if they win or lose. They still seem to have an urge to leave a message.

Except refraining completely from playing a game because of an issue that has been happening since the first event ever isn't a solution. Issues of people being horrible have been reported since the beginning and BHVR should react on it - instead of spending their time to re-design the forums into a more messy format.
You realize that those are not the same people, yes?
-
If the event is not to your liking as survivor, then just play killer.
If the event is not to your liking as killer, then just play survivor.
If the event is not to your liking on both sides, then just wait till its over.

Its always the problems of this game, since old DS to DH, BT, OTR. They punish fair play killers more than tunnelers IF survivors exploit the 2nd chance perks' protections
Pretty much. The best counter for old DS was to trigger it on purpose and get it out of the way. As a fair killer you got hit by it, when you least expected it.

The Knight has an add on apparantly that blocks exit gates if someone is being "chased" by one of their spawns lol. We all know that survivors like to take a victory lap at the gate when it is opened, crossing it only when the killer shows up.
NOW apparantly you can't do that vs knight because they have an add on that NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT EXCEPT people who bought that character or who play this game all day. So new players, or players who haven't gone against knights with that specific add on and read it, will know about it, but if they launch their green ball spawn at the gate and it "chases" you, you can't cross the gate apparantly it blocks it, which is a PERK.
What the ######### are we doing with this game, add ons needt o BOOST abilities, not give killers extra perks, blocking the gate for example is a perk, an add on would be to extend the length of the spawns chase for example, it doesn't give knight an entire new ability. That's just insane, so now apparently we can't wait by the gate when Knight comes around, they gave the Knight an add on that kills the fun in this game, I have cross the gate asap now.
That's a major flaw with this game for new players, there are so many bull ######### perks and add ons and game knowledge that are crucial for knowing and enjoying the game in order to enjoy it in order to counter them or not fall prey to them. This is the kind of game where you have to be negatively impacted by said perk or add on before you learn it, because no one wants to sit here for hours memorizing every ability and add on, that's the downfall of this game.
Are you really complaining about not being able to perform a butt dance at the exit gate against one of the weaker killers?
Like... really?
-
Thats what happens when the dbd community weaponizes perks like DS and OtR (on the PTB). They get nerfed to a point where they work just as intended.

I play depending on my mood. Most of the time i want a nice match for everyone. Then i get games where i don´t want to sweat and some where i´m tired of the bs and give the try hards just what they want.

Not to mention that survivors just have 2 good items to start with: Healing and repair speed. Flashlights are mostly a meme and not that useful when you go by pure effectiveness. Keys and maps are useless and as such survivors are pushed towards medkids.
However...Botany was not nerfed, for me that was a buff...I am still milking that perk hard after the increase of healing speed on others to counter sloppy butcher and pick up people from the ground. The 50% increase is quit good.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3284294#Comment_3284294
The problem is that I as a Killer have little influence over the hooks once I put somebody on it. I can not unhook the survivor myself and if the other 3 put gens before friends or mess up I am stuck with a single hook even if I play fair.
Also if survivors all take the same character and skin I have much trouble to play fair. There is no way for me to tell who has been hooked twice and who has been hooked once.
And finally: If a single survivors hides all match and never takes my heat, I am stuck with hooking his three friends and then only score a single hook on them in the end.
Killers are quit limited in managing hooks...
Yeah the hook counter doesn´t really make sense. Why do survivors, that will know how often they have been hooked, require an exact hook counter. While the killer has to take a wild guess? It doesn´t really prevent killers from tunneling, since a tunneling killer will simply ignore the counter.

That’s kinda fair and it’s why I don’t mind being tunneled assuming it’s a good map anyway (Getting tunneled by a nurse on shelter woods is pure agony)
People generally like a mix between saves/gens and chases so they can get the most points possible. Tunnelling only allows like 12000 points due to the cap in boldness points
But some survivors just hate losing whether they got chased or not and will always have some excuse for it.
I usually try to hook everyone equally. But sometimes there are just some survivors that beg for attention. Anyway, i learned a long time ago, that it doesn´t matter how you play. Some people will still complain about it.
-
I´m curious how the kill rates look during such a event.
-
@Phasmamain said:
People want chases to last longer but by making gens longer tunnelling becomes more viable
Ideally a killer should have a counter able chase power but good mobility to go between chases fast like wesker or demo
But isn´t tunneling exactly what survivors want? More chases!
I´m always astonished, by clicky survivors that beg for full attention, which suddenly don´t want said attention when i ignore everything else. Isn´t that what they asked for?!
-
@Malkhrim said:

Also, the fact that killers can usually secure one kill even in defeat already puts the kill rates a bit up, 60% doesn't necessarily mean killer "wins" most matches.
Not to mention it's quite common for the killer to have a miserable match, survivors rush gens before he can do much... but then they mess up really badly right at the end and 2 or 3 people die. It was an awful match for the killer, but on the data will count as a draw or even a win, pushing kill rates up. Those things must be considering when balancing such a game.
Correct! Thats why i think the game should be balanced purely around actual hooks. Not kills, not hook states, just hooks.
-
@Roaroftime said:
The game is purposefully unbalanced towards killers with 60% kill rate average. stop. just stop.
Do you even know what 60% kill rate means? Barely over 2 kills per match. Leaning more to 2 kills than 3 kills.
Not really hard, when survivors often suicide on their first hook.
-
Looking at how fast people stopped playing him after release, i´d say he´s just another killer no one bothers to play. Like Twins.
And just like Twins, there will be that one player who mains him and single handedly drives his kill rate up, using only the best addons. Which will "justify" not buffing him.

35 minutes is, obviously, a hyperbole, but it feels that long compared to the literal 15 seconds of waiting that survivor is.
