Yeah usually that reasoning is for people trying to work around the filter and say stuff
But I'm on ps4 so it really doesn't effect me lol
No, no, the filter also censors normal words. Or does the german word for german have some sort of mad meaning i´m not aware off?
-
If it was only filtering profanities, then i wouldn´t have a problem with it. But its censoring all kinds of words that are not profanities and makes some conversations really hard.

Just switch sides and find out.
Have fun!

I actually think that BHVR have changed somewhat in this regard. Yes, in the past things sometimes stayed ridiculously long, but nowadays I think they react a bit sooner and take reactions more to hear. But we will see if I am right at this and I am willing and prepared to eat my own words.
After the release of Original Freddy and the nerf just 1 week later. They certainly slowed down. Maybe a bit to much.
Sometimes i think they should be more daring and release chaotic wild stuff for a month to test and see how it goes. Just like Boil Over. While it was utterly oppressive it also changed the way both sides played for that brief amount of time. So adding some commically OP stuff for both sides during a certain amount of time could be fun and lead to new metas. When people realize that they don´t need their precious meta perks to have fun.

They will not introduce lootboxes.
Games in general seem to be slowly moving away from lootboxes in favor of battle passes (which we already have) due to legal concerns, as a number of regions have instituted partial or complete bans on lootboxes. If they introduced them, they'd be pushed out of several markets either now or in the near future.
Theoretically they have the option to implement them on a regional basis, but seeing how much very basic stuff they struggle with (chat censoring ##### to mind) I really doubt they could implement this without breaking a whole bunch of unrelated stuff.
Well lets hope you´re right.

Boil Over isn’t on the same lines of effectiveness as Eruption.
Correct. It was far superior and much more oppressive during the short amount of time after they buffed it and before they nerfed it again.

Believe what you want. They gutted the new thana almost immediately and flat out said they don't want people bringing the same perks every game which is exactly what is happening right now. Eruption is 100x worse than thana was so there's no way it makes it through the january update if the devs are serious about their commitment to stop a meta from taking over.
Well DH and SC are still the most used survivor perks. So if they touch Eruption because its being used to much, then guess what also gets hit with the nerf hammer.
-
@brokedownpalace said:
It really sucks that we'll likely have to wait another month and a half to see this perk addressed on live.
Considering how long DH was a I-Win button and how long DS was weaponized. I wouldn´t be to optimistic about Eruption getting changed any time soon.
-
He definetly has a couple of problems that can´t be just solved by twitching the numbers. For example, that he can´t see survivors while using his power (just like Spirit) but unlike Spirit, the survivors can see the glowing disco ball at all time. Same for the radius of the guards and how they first run to the position where they saw a survivor, instead of running directly for the survivor.
Things like the timing for insta dropping a guard at loops or the snail like speed of the guards could be solved by tweaking the numbers. But the devs will probably just change some numbers on the addons while leaving his basekit as lacking as it is.

*Boil Over has entered the chat*

Why not give the killer 4 stacks for the perk and the ability to go up to a hook and mark it as scourge hook? That way we would remove the rng and a killer could set up the hooks where he needs them.

Sadly they removed the lobby indicator for killer ping while survivor still keeps theirs. It sucks to fight a high ping killer or even a lag switching/VPN killer without knowing beforehand
Lobby ping wouldn´t help against a lag switcher.
But yeah, the reason why they removed the killers ping in the lobby is beyong me.
EDIT: Almost forgot: Happy holidays!
-
You get an ingame icon if the killer has yellow or red ping.
Same goes for survivors that have a bar next to their name.

After my killer matches i usually send a ggwp in a psn message, rarely do i get one first.
Even if they dior escape in the match they also rarely send something back.
Some nice conversations after the match have become rare. Everybody just seems to leave to queue up for the next match.

It makes sense. A couple nights ago, killers left our lobby four times. Finally one accepted (I was playing SoloQ) and they took him to Dead Dawg. He got a lot of hooks, but no kills. After he chased me out, I spectated and saw they were tbagging and BMing…I felt bad and sent a GG.
The more I thought about it the more I worried the killer took it as me mocking them, but I was being genuine…they were the only killer who accepted the match and I hate seeing BMing.
Toxic players ruin everything. Even the mood to continue playing "nice" or "fair" or simply play at all.

If we won by the skin of our teeth I might too, though I try to do more than just a GG if I won (like compliment them on something they did during the match or whatnot). Just to give it a little extra emphasis that I'm not trying to mock them or whatever.
When its a really close match, then i usually give a gg wp. A deserved one. For a great game.

Funny enough, I now send GGs to my fellow Xbox players....but only when I lose (as long as they weren't jerks or whatnot about it) PRECISELY for this reason. I'm always worried they're going to take it the wrong way if I were to send it when I beat them.
I also always send a gg. Most of the time it gets a positive reaction. But sometimes people feel attacked by it.

Because her kill rates don´t reflect that. Simple as that. She has one of the lowest kill rates. If she was the unstopping killing machine everyone is claiming to face, then her kill rate would be much higher.

After reading this thread, it dawned on me, that the game needs a better tutorial. Something that explains what a killers power is, its strengths, weaknesses and how to play against the killer. Maybe in a short movie or something that goes over the basics.

The amount of planning the Cups tournament did to make DbD work in a tournament so well is actually staggering and quite impressive.
It just goes to show what an unbalanced mess every aspect of DbD actually is and nothing in DbD is actually made for competitive gameplay.
@Krazzik said:
I mean if DBD tournaments didn't have extra rules to limit what survivors could bring then the only killer you'd ever see would be Nurse. They -have- to have these seemingly silly rules so that other killers can see play.
I agree. The game is as unbalanced as it gets in that regard.
However, i think the devs should hold regular tournaments. With no restrictions and balance the game around what they see.

Welcome back!
Survivors realized that the additional 10 seconds of gen time make absolutely no difference and killers realized that the all gen slowdown perks are trash now. Only Eruption seems to be decent.
So survivors focus gens like there is no tomorrow and killers try to get someone out asap in order to slowdown gens.
SO
MUCH
FUN!

I stand by my point.
Of course, of couse and i agree with you.
I just found it hilarious, that there are 7 times as many threads/comments about camping than there are about gen rushing.
If there were 4 times as many, i´d say perfectly balanced. Since the 4 to 1 ratio. But almost twice that ratio?
Lets just say, i´m sometimes happy that the devs don´t listen to the loudest part of the community.

Increasing DC penalty is not the way to go. You can't force someone to play a game well. You can try to force them to stay at the screen, but all you'll do is generate resentment, and this is dumb for a service provider to do to a guest.
Also, when the DC penalty reaches any intolerable number, the player will go find a new game. That is a bad thing to do to your customers, because it will cost you money. Only SWF groups would put up with it, and few of those DC for trivial reasons.
I think they should make all the survivor map awareness perks base kit, with reduced durations and intermittent activation so new people can learn the maps and key spawns faster, But something will still need to be done incentive wise to motivate survivors to work as a team early in their careers. None of this addresses the underlying issue, which I think is survivors should expect to lose the match, they should be rewarded for entertaining the entity, they should have fun doing that, winning via an escape should be rare and unexpected.
If people feel the need to constantly dc/suicide then they should probably play another game. DbD doesn´t seem to be fun for them.
No shame in that. Not every game is fun for everyone. But by disconnecting/suiciding you ruin the game for the 4 other players in the match.

The ability for one side to choose to have a decided advantage before the game even begins (OP killer with best addons, strong swf team with map offering, 4 toolboxes/medkits, etc).
Maps (mostly favor survivor, but some configurations favor killer too)
MMR being absolutely terrible. I have over 6k hours and I was recently matched with someone who went down in under a minute on an outside map to a Myers who hadn't yet powered up to stage 2 (was not grabbed off a gen).
Hackers (the asian server is absolutely littered with hackers.)
Maybe I'm missing another big one, but the reasons listed above certainly contribute to any D/C's that may happen.
No one has fun in games that are already all but decided before they begin. I don't D/C unless I meet a definite hacker, but I don't completely blame players who do. The game, even after all these years, is in such a sorry state.
Oh i agree on this. Loadouts should be fixed before clicking ready to search for a match. Killers can´t switch, because the mmr takes each killers skill into account (supposedly). So why not lock things for both sides and take addons/items/offerings into account for the mmr. Give everything a set value (multiply it when in SWF) and match it accordingly.
So sweat builds go against sweat killers and vice versa.

I started in 2019, I think (or was it 2020? Pyramid Head was just about to release) and the game was a mess then on both sides.
- Prenerf DS acting as basically an extra life.
- Every map having 2 or 3 spots where you can't pick up survivors, and they always go down there deliberately.
- OoO in every premade.
- RBMM with the monthly reset was absolutely horrible as a new player, especially a new killer.
- Old Iri head Huntress addon.
- Old Haddonfield with the old infinite.
Oh you missed quite some fun. My point is, that things were really, really strong back then. Seing people complain about small things seems just... meh.

Even when Wraith was at his strongest he was fine. What isn't fine are the perks mentioned (Eruption being the main culprit). They give wins to killers who perhaps didn't deserve to win the game due to how oppressive they are.

Wraith is criminally underrated. It is becoming more and more apparent you don't actually understand the game as well as you think you do. And please stop saying Eruption is fine. It is as foolish a thing to say as if you had said old moris and keys were fine.

I'm rather tired of posters who don't know what they are talking about being confidently incorrect. Like, if you aren't sure then just don't say anything. Why make things up?

But survivors work collectively, clearly.
The thing is, clearly killers do feel they are getting value from kicking gens over starting a chase. I am seeing them do it mid chase lol...
I watched VOD from a streamer myself and a big streamer in my region were playing against where both me and the big streamer ended up DCing (not condoning this mods!) due to his ridiculous Eruption based build. When I watched it back he was even saying how it was worth it to kick gens mid chase to get "eruption value" which ironically was what made two of us say screw this and leave.
It is getting really tedious dealing with this over and over
But why would that streamer dc? Because he can´t repair or heal for 25 seconds? Thats not really an issue. Maybe a nuisance but not an issue.
This just feels like Undying Ruin, where people complained that they had to cleanse 5 hex perks in order to get rid of it. When in reality they could just ignore it, as it had no effect on survivors that repaired.
-
@StarLost said:

No they aren't.
Or rather, they are - but only according to that weird forum hive mind that seems to automatically generate complaint threads about whatever the current killer meta is.
For the longest time, it was Ruin.
Then it was Pain Resonance/DMS.
Both got nerfed, now it's Eruption/CoB.
Once that gets nerfed, we'll go back to PR/DMS complaint threads, because it really does boil down to 'these were the perks the killer who beat me was using, therefore OP'.
I swear, if all the kicky perks get nerfed, and PR gets nerfed, and Deadlock gets nerfed, we'll find ourselves in a world where there are 4 complaint threads about Jolt on the front page.
Imagine how those people would feel playing back in 2017 with omniblink Nurse, insta kill Moris (no hook required) and the old Ruin that required perfect skillchecks to continue with normal repair speed.
It really looks like people ran out of things to complain about.
Wraith being OP... i can´t even...

Of course the game has other problems but that does not mean you don't address the glaringly obvious ones though and anyone who plays solo queue is well aware of how Eruption is making life miserable.
Even considering your example match (I did say there are some where I only get hit maybe once) you say 3 survivors are affected for only 25 seconds... but that isn't really the full picture as they collectively are affected for 75 seconds and in solo queue even a minute is a big thing.
I am being affected by a minute or more by myself on bad matches and there is no counter. I don't even know how to reason with people who don't see this as a problem?!
If you start to count things collectivly, then take a second to consider how many minutes killers spend picking up, carrying survivors and hooking.
As i said, by the time the killer finished the hooking animation, my cd was almost over. Even though he downed a survivor right next to me. Wasn´t really inconvenient, as the killer also isn´t getting much progress during that time + he needs to kick those gens. Which gives a headstart in chases. Which are far more valuable.
-
Devs did a really good job on the Bots. I just hope that soon they will replace disconnecting survivors with bots. That would be so helpful!
-
UPDATE: Just had a match against a killer with Eruption. It triggered twice during the whole match with a total of 3 survivors affected. Its 25 seconds. With the time between downing a survivor, picking him up, carry him to a hook and hooking, the timer was almost over.
The game has other problems than Eruption.
-
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3297036#Comment_3297036
I know why they are using full slowdown builds - because they are relying on a broken meta to compensate for an inability to get pressure/downs.
I have over 3k hours myself and I am finding I am being hit with Eruption several times in an average match. Sure, sometimes maybe only once but if it isn't getting me it sure is getting my team mates. The perk is broken when it wins matches by itself and anyone being honest knows this
Yeah the argument that a perk wins a match by itself got old pretty fast, when it was used on the old Undying Ruin. Which is probably being missed right now.
Killers are still feeling forced to equip so many slowdown perks, because gens are still to fast. People would really like to switch to something more fun but when gens fly, there is no other way around.
-
Maybe ask yourself why killers are still using 3-4 slowdown perks.
With over 3k hours i also don´t feel outplayed by Eruption when playing solo. Usually not every survivor is affected by the explosion. It slows gens somewhat down, but requires the killer to kick a gen and then down someone. In a normal match, either the perk is still on cd or a gen is repaired faster than what it takes the killer to down a survivor.
-
Billy is dead and it doesn´t look like he´s coming back. The update killed him and there are no plans on reversing them.
