  • I feel ya. I've been trying to practice jumping over stuff (which results in nothing but collisions) and jumping through windows (which 99% of the time results in a collision). It's frustrating.

The game needs a way to practice, but there is none. You practice live, and you get kicked in the face... literally if you're practicing Victor.

My biggest annoyance right now is Victor getting stuck in the ground so much. It takes forever for him to auto-die, #########, why is there no self destruct? And I hate that after he pounces on a survivor I have no clue where he is. Why did they make an achievement to down survivors with Victor on their back? The Twins aren't built to be played that way. He attacks, then I'm back in Charlotte and super disoriented and it's like 10 seconds before I'm moving in the direction in which I want to go, and it always seems like Charlotte is a million miles away from where she needs to be.

Sorry, back on topic. DbD needs a practice mode. Letting killers open up their own custom match with a few mindless bots to practice aiming at seems long overdue. (And I want a shooting range for Huntress! With helpful target practice and maybe one of those shoot-the-duck games, that'd be awesome.)

  • Nothing like the environment moving on its own when you're trying to watch for movement looking for survivors/the killer.

  • Because apparently there are too many people playing killer? So the team released a killer-only charm so killer players would instead watch streamers and sit on the game's store page waiting to type in a code.

It absolutely is a hardware issue. The fact you can play "GOD OF WAR" on a Playstation without any frame drops has nothing to do with how this game runs on last gen hardware.

Regardless, that game was designed specifically for PS4. This is a PC game that was ported to consoles. Had they developed for PS4 from the start, you'd have a point. They didn't and you don't.

If they can't/won't optimize it for consoles, they shouldn't have released it on consoles. As is, the game should run at least decently. Instead, there are maps I just afk on as killer because it feels miserable trying to chase on them right now.

  • You could play killer, their queues are often instant, no waiting.

  • A lot of things in the game are RNG based. Survivors can pull keys out of chests. Sometimes the hatch spawns right under the last survivor, sometimes the killer finds it first. Sometimes the gates are right next to each other and sometimes they're far apart.

Right now the hatch is very generous to survivors. Even if they don't finish all five gens, it rewards them as much as getting out through the exit gate. The hatch is necessary to prevent a survivor holding the killer hostage forever, but if three survivors die and the last survivor is unable to use any of the multiple means given to them to escape, then the killer either did well or RNG happened to be in their favor. There will be plenty of times RNG is in the survivor's favor to make up for it.

  • They really should add some BP score events to Victor. It's kinda ridiculous that I'll run around as Victor and then at the end of the match the survivors' BPS were pretty much wasted because apparently playing against Victor is like not having a killer on the map at all.

Lockers with twins are bugged. I discovered you can attack them even if they hide inside them.

I did that to someone! It was hilarious.

  • @Zaytex said:

Evil Within 1 needs to be much easier to get out of. Myers has the weakest map pressure of any Killer at the beginning of the game since he has to dance with survivors for so long to even get enough stalk to get out of it.

Make it so a hit in EW1 automatically upgrades you to EW2, or it lasts like 30 seconds or something.

It should be easier to get out of T1, I agree, but I think it'd be better to just make it only take like a second or two of stalking, lower the requirement by a lot, that way the killer will have control over it unlike tying it to a hit.

  • Aw, the Deathslinger one is already there! I was just coming in here to mention that.

Also, it's not a bug or anything, but on the new maps sometimes the completed gen lights are so bright that the screen basically goes white, it's extremely annoying.

  • I want T1 Mikey to be immune to Spine Chill. He used to be; he should still be.

Yes, I am a broken record with this. He's already so neutered in T1 to make up for his Undetectable status, but he's still TOTALLY VISIBLE. You can SEE him with your eyes. Spine Chill detecting him is unnecessary.

  • I at least feel like the hatch shouldn't reward extra points. It should reward fewer points if all 5 gens haven't been done, and the survivor should get a different screen than "Escaped," something a bit less celebratory. The hatch is supposed to be a consolation prize at best, not a goal. As is, survivors are encouraged to go for the hatch and it just shouldn't be like that. All 5 gens didn't get done, it's not a win, it's just RNG. Killers have four possible end screens (Entity Displeased, Brutal, Ruthless, Merciless); survivors could have a third.

    ARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

    NOT AGAIN!!!!

Honestly cannot believe we are having to go through this again to get our bling.

Sadly the completionist in me is compelled to get these damned things. Is there word of when they are going live?

    :(

It's live already. I watched a stream with a small number of viewers and got it first try. That was how I got the Dwightcrow last time, too, by watching a low-viewer-count stream.

  • The devs tested exit gate regression. It hurt solo survivors a lot more than it hurt SWF, who were just able to coordinate around it. The devs don't want to widen the gap between solo and SWF even more. Neither do I. I play solo survivor, and it can be downright miserable.

If survivors teabag in the gates, that's great, it gives me time to go break pallets and breakables walls and even go find the hatch. And I've had survivors die because they mistimed their noise notifications and died to the entity. I love when they die to the entity because they're desperate for me to come over.

  • Even the streamers didn't seem to be happy about the codes. They were having to ban people coming into their chat demanding codes be posted. It seemed like a pain in the ass for them and I doubt they got many new viewers who actually stuck around after acquiring the charm.

  • Yes. It just required putting in the code on the store page.

The charm is too small imo. A xmas stocking shouldn't be so tiny.

  • New Ormond has some nice visual aesthetics. Some.

It also has spots with nearly blinding bright lights. And scratch marks still suck ass. Not to mention the poor FPS.

The RNG sent me to Ormond over and over and over again today, just locked on repeat. I am already sick of new Ormond. Meanwhile, I only saw Autohaven twice.

Don't those only count if you're already capped though? I already got my daily 10k earlier and spent it.

I apologize, I have no way of knowing the answer to that.

People have been requesting raising the BP cap and the devs always say no, so it seems unlikely it was raised. This new patch did come with a bunch of new bugs, though, so who knows what might be going on in the code.

  • Right now they have daily rewards for the advent calendar, and Dec 1st's reward was 10k BP. Bonus BP like that usually do not count towards the cap, so the max you could theoretically have today is 1,010,000 BP.

  • I played a bunch of matches as survivor and never saw the new killer once. I was disappointed.

    • The survivor can just run a circle around a stack of tires (or any thin debris for that matter) and Victor can no longer do anything.
    • The survivor can just go into a locker.
    • The survivor can just let him get on their heads and remove the killer's power for the next 45 seconds, basically eliminating the killer from being able to do anything. (Seriously BHVR? this is the recall timer?)
    • By the time you get a down as Victor, you will need to basically walk across the entire map to pick them up and hook them most of the time. Basically wasting most of your time in an already short game since survivors will probably be genrushing you anyway.
    • The survivor can also just kick him in his ugly little face after he misses or hits a nearby teammate.
    • UH OH! looks like Victor got caught on debris. Time to die (Why is he so limited to what he can and cannot walk on? Any potential fun you could have as him like setting up cool jumps or taking advantage of the terrain is removed. It isn't like its not able to be dodged anyway and Victor cannot basic attack.)

Playing "The Twins" is basically playing a trapper with no traps who has the ability to slowly transform into a Demogorgon who cannot pick anyone up, vault windows, break pallets, damage generators, or even open lockers. How does this sound strong in the slightest?

Not being able to vault windows has actually been really annoying. I lose a stupid amount of time walking around some structures because there's no good angle to pounce through a window, and even if there is a decent window it is so stupidly easy to be just a little off trying to pounce through it and then all I've done is lost more time to stunning myself.

  • After taking a bit of a break I came back today to try out the new killer... The game's performance and everything felt so overall crappy that I think I'm just going to go back to taking a break. I feel kinda burnt out already after one day.

BHVR, that is what happens when you have your players test your game. I don't get paid, I have no incentive to play when it can't run decently and is full of bugs. A hotfix is coming? Yeah, I've already moved on to play something else, I'm not going to punish myself with this or be a guinea pig for whatever new bugs are introduced.

So, the new content brought me back for a few hours and just reinforced my desire to not play for a while. I bought the chapter with shards, I didn't purchase any cosmetics, and the game is down a player for possibly months. But hey, it's new content, and that's what matters, right??

Edit: Don't take me too seriously, guys, I'm tired and venting.

  • Was he running add-ons? Bubba has a couple that do aura-related stuff (one that hides downed survivors auras for a bit and one that shows the auras of nearby survivors).

  • Running around as Victor practicing jumping on stuff. Survivors start making noise notifications. Okay, try to hook someone. Despite looking away get flashlight blinded because reasons. Go back to seeing how far Victor can pounce and ignoring all noise notifications.

I mean, flashlights are part of the game, and I'd get it if I were actually a threat, but... I obviously wasn't. Don't beg for my attention and then blind me, that's just rude.

I usually try to learn the basics of new killers while involving survivors as little as possible. I'm still not even a menace to trees yet as Huntress, no point in aiming at a moving target.

What in this patch isn't bugged?

Seen a lot of players wearing the new Elodie reindeer onesie, that seems to work fine. 👍️👍️👍️👍️

  • I got it with shards.

  • Sorry, I did read the OP and knew what you were saying, I just felt like responding stupidly to the thread title.

Unfortunately, despite playing survivor today, I never went up against The Twins. I have no idea what it's like to play against them. Playing as them didn't actually feel great, but that's because of the game's overall performance making everything feel pretty lousy.

Dunno how intentional it is, but Victor can get caught on all kinds of crap while trying to jump, which results in a good kicking if there's a survivor nearby. And he gets slowed down a whole bunch in pounce mode, making a single rock pretty OP if the survivor goes in circles around it.

No, the survivor can not easily crawl away. I've never had a person escape me on the floor with BBQ unless they were currently afflicted by the sound bug, preventing me from hearing them.

Really? I've had it happen. I remember one specific time they were across the map and I got there and couldn't find them. Last survivor left, too, so we just... waited. And waited. Until they bled out. Fun for everyone. (I mean, I constantly see survivors complain that the killer slugged them and left them to bleed out instead of hooking them and how that's BM and should be reportable etc etc so WHY the HELL do they crawl away and do it purposefully to themselves?)

In general, the devs actually want killers to be able to find downed survivors to avoid situations like the above. They don't want survivors left on the ground for four minutes to bleed out just because the killer can't find them.

  • Boring?! I was having a ton of fun on Ormond jumping off the walkway and landing on the tractor as Victor. That was awesome. I just did that over and over and over again all match every time I ended up on Ormond.

    Hah, boring. You guys.

I understand what you are saying but it is still my opinion the wait times are long no matter the circumstances, my main complaint is that after waiting long my Xbox overheats and shuts off, did you miss that ? Not mentioning when I want to play with friends or siblings they don't wanna wait as long they suggest switching to a different game lol

Plus the DC timer is not good for new customers because they have other games they love playing and will just switch over. That's not going to keep them wanting to play DBD. Plus I've been in matches where two people dc'ed, one match with 3 gens and me and one other person and we both escaped there's really no excuse for a time penalty, a different form of punishment for dcing is needed. DBD is not a big enough game yet for that.

In my first comment I said "The console overheating thing is a serious issue. BHVR really needs to fix how this game performs on console, because the way it is right now is unacceptable."

  • @sekkima said:

Buy a pc and problem solved.

    - You will get much cheaper games.

    - You can adjust the render quality to that of your hardware.

    - Always optimized games (guess where console games are made?).

I have a gaming PC, now. I didn't when I started playing DbD. When cross-progression between PlayStation and PC becomes a thing, then I may switch over. Until then, the only thing I can do is come on the forums and throw my voice in with everyone else saying these framerate problems need to be fixed. If the hardware really can't handle the game, then BHVR never should have released the game on that hardware. But they did, so they need to make it at least run decently.

  • Yeah, I have been taking a break. Opened up the game today to try out the Twins... and probably going back on a break, now.

Given how fast my killer queue was during a time when normally it's slow as crap and a new killer was released today... not sure how many players it can survive taking a break.

  • Nothing like keeping an eye out for survivors and pop-in on the maps has you like "What?! Did that grass move?!" No, it didn't, the grass just didn't exist until two seconds ago.

Optimization. For god's sake, the game needs serious optimization. I played with the new killer (bought with shards) for a little bit today, and I'm not sure I'm even gonna bother playing again tomorrow or the any time in the near future because it's not fun when the game runs so horribly. New content isn't going to keep bringing people back if it feels like crap to play the new content. Forget it. I never came across the Twins once while playing survivor today. It's the first day of the killer's release, I should see her constantly! But nope. RNG sent me to Ormond a whole bunch, though, which runs extra awful leaving me unable to actually participate in the match, so, uh, thanks for that, I guess.

The game should allow survivors to do one generator before anyone gets hooked

    Oooh, nice one :)

  • The bad thing is is that without that disclaimer this reads like some posts other people have made and they meant it. You need to go further with it if you want it to be more obvious:

survivors should be faster than killers

all killers need a 60 second cooldown on their powers

Legion should be a 105% speed killer in Feral Frenzy

since killers get to have two add-ons, they should only get two perk slots

... ya know, goddammit, I can actually see some people agreeing with those fake suggestions. Anyone got any suggestions so crazy no one could agree with them?

  • There are a bunch of spots on the new Ormond map with blindingly bright lights. And scratch marks still suck.

  • @NightLucky said:

You have some valid points but what I'm saying about the time penalty is that it should be a different punishment considering the wait times are already ridiculous.

Which wait times? If it's a long wait time for survivors (which is the case for 99% of the complaints I see about wait times), then removing survivors from the queue with the disconnect penalty could actually make wait times for the other survivors faster.

I think part of the reason it's a time penalty is that in a large number of cases the player is ragequitting, so the devs want that player to take a few minutes to cool down before going into the next match. The problem with the idea of taking away Bloodpoints is that the player already sacrificed their BP from an entire match just to quit out, so just taking away more BP won't necessarily do anything to discourage disconnecting. Losing pips wouldn't discourage it either since the player already de-pips for the disconnect.

  • I thought if Charlotte downs someone with Victor on their back, the exit gate blocker is supposed to remain for a few seconds so that she can pick the survivor up? It definitely isn't working that way; the survivor escaped almost as soon as she went down.

  • The only cosmetics I like are Krampus and Cheryl's ugly sweater, neither of which I'll get so... shrugs.

  • In terms of wait times, usually if one side is slow then the other side is fast, so just switch which role you're playing.

The console overheating thing is a serious issue. BHVR really needs to fix how this game performs on console, because the way it is right now is unacceptable.

Th DC penalty exists to discourage the exact behavior you're describing. The devs do not want players disconnecting just because they don't like the way the other side plays, whether that's perks or attitudes or whatever. Considering the devs designed NOED to be the way it is, they're definitely not going to think disconnecting over it is okay. And why would you even do that? It's the end of the match, disconnecting means you lose your Bloodpoints and you give the killer BP for your disconnect, you just throw away the entire match and all you did was give the killer a good laugh.

Anyway, BHVR actually lost players because they didn't have a disconnect penalty for years. People got so tired of players constantly disconnecting for petty reasons that BHVR had no choice but to implement a disconnect penalty. That the disconnect penalty gets progressively worse shows BHVR is obviously willing to lose a few players who frequently disconnect in order to keep the many players who don't disconnect happy.

All last gen hardware isn't powerful enough to handle the game. Never was. That includes the Pro and the X. Even more so now with the map reworks.

While my PC handles this game just fine, it still eats up a lot of my GPU resources for some reason. But on PS5, it runs silky smooth and locked to 60fps while looking clean and crisp in 4K. I would think the Series X looks just as good. You need to upgrade your hardware when stock is there as it isn't going to get any better.

It makes no sense that it eats up so much GPU! It really shouldn't. And changes they made to Ormond which I'm sure eat up a lot of processor power aren't worth it. The snow in the wind is unnecessary and there are some really really annoyingly bright lights in spots. Not to mention the fire effect they added to gens. VFX like these are usually pretty costly and they don't even seem like good additions.

I can run games that look way better with bigger maps and more players in a lobby just fine. DbD is the potato, not the system.

DbD has never run great but it's at least run decently at times, and right now I would accept decent.

I still don't know how you and others on here find so many survivors like this that you're comfortable generalising and insulting that entire half of the playerbase on the forums almost daily. I see a survivor group like this maybe once a week, tops. And they aren't even bad, they'll get salty but honestly who cares? Why do you and so many others care so much that someone sent you an angry message over a videogame? They have a right to express themselves in this way if they want to, and you even have the option of completely blocking what they say. Yet you keep your messages on and continue to complain about receiving them.

    ?????

I did turn off messages because it just got old. Whether playing survivor or killer, survivors loved to send messages about whatever they think I did wrong. I did not get messages from killers.

It's just sad that after playing a bunch of multiplayer games, it was specifically for DbD that I turned off messages and friend requests.

And in terms of "a right to express themselves," a lot of them break the terms of service for PlayStation or whatever platform they're playing on with the things they say. It is pathetic how upset people get over such a broken, unbalanced, buggy mess of a video game, mad enough to get their accounts banned.

I'm completely fine with a dead zone after some time, but there shouldn't be one right at the beginning except it is always in the same place (like on Sanctum). You don't have time to check the map for dead zones first.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1786520#Comment_1786520

Not only on Ormond for me. I get really bad fps drops on all maps now. And I play on PC (medium quality about 50 fps). I hope they fix it, because dropping down to 15fps is not great.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1786524#Comment_1786524

Are you referring to Lèry's or Blood Lodge? Because I had Ormond multiple times today and there were a lot less pallets than before.

Yeah, you're right. The fps gets especially bad the more matches I play. I have to restart the game and it's better for a bit and then gets awful again. This is an all-around horrible update.

I'd rather have a more barebones game that played well than a game full of bells and whistles that has a crippling framerate. I mean, what's the point of any new content when playing feels so awful?

  • I'm on PS4 Pro and after a few matches the framerate goes to hell. A survivor Sprint Bursts away and frames drop like mad. The framedrops from Bloodlust tiering up have never been fixed. New Ormond was bad even playing as survivor.

    This update is a mess.

  • I'm on PS4 Pro and new Ormond is definitely running like crap. Even the old maps aren't running very well right now. I dunno what happened.

  • Not worth trying to play on Ormond, as killer or survivor, because the framerate is such crap (PS4). I just walk around and look at the scenery, which is kinda nifty. It'd be niftier if the fps were higher, though.

To anyone who gets me in one of their matches and I barely interact... uh, sorry? (But not really, 'cause I can't do anything about it.)

  • Tinkerer is a strange perk. It gives the killer a really important bit of information, and on high-mobility killers that information can be put to use (on low mobility killers the notification is just letting you know what gen is about to pop). Then, on top of that information, it also gives the killer the Undetectable status. That's actually kind of a lot for one perk to do. Discordance and Surveillance don't provide any secondary effects, they just give info. Trail of Torment gives the Undetectable status but with a yellow generator alerting everyone and a large cooldown.

I dunno, maybe I'm out of line with that observation.

(Ruin and Undying being hex perks makes them both vulnerable to bad RNG, which means they can be really powerful or totally useless due to factors completely out of the killer's control. In a way, that balances the combo because if half the time it's powerful and half the time it's weak then that averages out to being just right. Which is [BAD WORD]ing stupid, but that's RNG for ya.)
