  •  Sorry, maybe my original statement was ambiguous. Here:

"They [the survivors] couldn't find gens, I couldn't find them [the survivors], and then when I did find them [the survivors] they couldn't find each other to make the hook saves."

  • Let's see. My favorites are H.P. Lovecraft. The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. It by Stephen King. City Infernal by Edward Lee. Lost Souls and Wormwood by Poppy Z. Brite. World War Z by Max Brooks. John Dies at the End by David Wong.

I like to read, especially horror. Some other good ones I've read that I haven't seen anyone else mention (limiting it to one suggestion per author) are Off Season by Jack Ketchum, The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker. The Ruins by Scott B. Smith. The Strain by Guillermo del Torro. The Rats by James Herbert. The Cobra Event by Richard Preston. The Newsflesh trilogy by Mira Grant.

  • I unlocked the crowns on all the original characters on PS4 (and the small number of original characters my friend has on the Switch). I unlocked a bunch of teachables on the Switch and P350'd Cheryl. On the PS4, I got a bunch of cakes and P350'd Nemesis, Leon, and Jill.

Also played a bunch of survivor with my friend for the first time since he got it on Switch. When I was able to get him to think of it as a game, we had fun. Him teabagging on my head as the Doc mori'd me just before the Doc downed and mori'd him, that was great. That's what my DbD experience has been needing.

  • I can't track survivors via sound. I can't use her phase mid-chase, otherwise I'll instantly lose the survivor, so I have to chase at 110% speed. A lot of survivors run Spine Chill now, meaning I can't get the first hit with her power, either. While I love the idea of her, I can't use her to get jump scares like I used to be able to; I want to play as her but I really can't get much of anything out of her anymore (and I'm talking as someone who doesn't play for kills but for BBQ stacks and/or memeing).

  • The game absolutely needs a built-in calibrator for brightness/gamma settings. The maps are darker on the PS4 than they are on PC. And the maps are debilitatingly darker on the Switch than they are on the PS4. There's no way to fix it on the Switch, either. My friend and I have an incredibly difficult time navigating the maps when we play on Switch. WE CAN'T DISCERN WALLS.

The game looks different on different platforms. It's not a consistent experience. Consoles at least need something to help calibrate the brightness/contrast/gamma. Consoles have enough issues, we don't need to be literally blind on top of it.

  • It would be nice if they implemented bots. I prefer the DC penalties to nothing, but penalties seem like a temporary solution whereas bots would be a good permanent solution. This game has a lot of problems with bugs and stability, right now just happens to be worse than usual, and rather than have to turn off the penalties or tell their players "sorry, just don't play if you're having issues" next time there's a problematic update, it'd be better if there were bots.

Bots would stop the "ha ha, I took away your stack" or giving a teammate the hatch disconnects, and they would prevent someone who crashes or experiences a game-breaking bug from being penalized. It's an all-around win.

  • I've gotten Haddonfield and the Swamp soooo many times today. Not with offerings, just RNG. This often happens with Swamp, but I've never gotten Haddonfield over and over like this.

  • I've gotten RPD three times today. Those matches didn't go well. They couldn't find gens, I couldn't find them, and then when I did find them they couldn't find each other to make the hook saves.

  • The second crown is being given out manually to anyone who unlocked Frank's crown while it was bugged.

As I confirmed above, if you already have Frank's crown, you will be unable to unlock the crown for Julie in game...so we are handling this manually and adding them to your accounts. For right now, you need to do nothing - if that changes, I will update.

    @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2345380#Comment_2345380

As of right now, no there's no need to do that...the system should send the crowns out to everyone that earned them. But I don't have a date on when this will be completed by, when I do have that information I will let you know, if after that point you don't have the crown - then contact Support.

    @Mandy said:

@GoodBoyKaru I said I'd update, I do believe that the crowns have now been sent to those that had it unlocked on Frank when it was bugged - so they should now have it on Julie as well.

Please be aware, this is only for those who got the Crown when it was bugged.

According to that last post, everyone should've received the second crown by now, so if you haven't then I guess you need to contact support.

  • If I can play killer with my friend, yes. I don't care if it's totally ridiculous, as long as it doesn't cause our consoles to catch fire I think we'd have a lot of fun.

  • I think BHVR changed something about the Bloodweb's RNG and it's having unintended repercussions. I've noticed that tier 2 perks are ridiculously weighted, so that people are forced to buy tier 2 perks before more tier 1 perks will be offered. (I hate this, btw. It's weighted but without any sort of contextual intelligence, so you can avoid the thing over and over and over again and it'll keep putting the same exact tier 2 perk on the Bloodweb until you are forced to buy it or never get another new perk unless you want to unlock one of the teachables. Having three teachables that take up four perk slots unless you purchase one of them is bad enough.)

They've messed with the RNG and made it less random, and I think that's causing problems.

  • I hope we get trench coat Nemesis. Trash bag chic is so five minutes ago.

As a console player who's been very against putting more money into this game, I'll even admit I'd purchase the trench coat. (I'll also buy old school Jill if they ever stop requiring people to pay for a head they already own.)

  • I'm often a friendly killer and don't play to kill, I play for BP. For a single kill, I get a small amount of BP, meanwhile the survivor gives up 5k BP. That's ridiculous. With just two cakes, that's 15k BP total for escaping alone.

For a new killer who gets demolished, or for someone who's having a bad day, a survivor showing they understand there's another person (rather than a bot) playing this game can feel nice. But if someone wants to earn their kills and not feel like the object of pity, then an offer of a free kill may feel like an insult.

I don't think the offer is ever toxic, though.

  • Just because a lot of players use it doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed. It'd be useless as a hex totem. It's why I don't run Thrill of the Hunt, I have to lose points guarding the thing or it goes down and I lose out on the faster Hunter BP, either way it's worthless, so I run Beast of Prey for the simple facts it's not a hex totem.

  • It sucks that the game is designed in such a way that removing a player from the match as fast as possible is the best way to slow down gens. That's bad game design. It's not fun, and the game should be designed in such a way as to ensure its players get to participate and have fun. Instead, the game puts it on the players to be inefficient to get more points and help create a fun experience. That's ridiculous, you can't have it so that efficiently achieving your win condition earns fewer points, you can't expect players to care about their opposition's fun.

Tunneling a survivor out as fast as possible can be an efficient way to slow down gen progress even when the team's not gen rushing. Right now, I play survivor, my teammates don't actually seem to understand what gens are, but I get tunneled out so quick I earn fewer than 5k points and there's like at most one gen done. I wouldn't mind so much if cakes had a condition on them, like if the person who burned them earns fewer than 15k Bloodpoints then no one gets the multiplier and the cake is returned to inventory. But no, instead I'm waiting in the long killer queues and I'm going to trash my survivors' cakes when I prestige, because screw it, I've been convinced to add to the killer queues and make them even longer.

  • There's a point in the exit gate where the trap explodes. It does not explode at the entity blocker, but somewhere before. If the killer carries the survivor past that point, the trap doesn't explode. I think this is an intended mechanic, to avoid killers being able to kill a survivor by carrying them, which would be extremely stupid.

You can see the point at which it happens in this video (1:37).

  • Been asking for this forever, ever since Spirit was introduced. I've always been so disappointed that they created a Japanese ghost with long hair but didn't actually make any skins for a long-haired Japanese ghost. Instead, they did Bride of Frankenstein. It makes no sense.

  • Consoles got really screwed here. I don't get the reasoning behind extending the event for the people who were already able to play the event in the first place. Like, what? The very people who they're trying to make it up to are the ones not benefiting.

  • I play both sides. I have empathy. I usually play nice because I often feel crappy if I don't, and there's no "thrill" in winning that overcomes that. I'm not really competitive, my playstyle is casual, so my goals are usually to do a challenge or earn BP rather than kill/escape.

  • Constantly.

There was a period where I did stop playing for well over a month. God that was freeing.

Lately, I find myself wanting to play it when I'm not and hating it when I am. My friend just started playing it with me, and it's the one thing we can play together, so I guess I'm stuck with it. We're at different levels in our "stages of DbD"—he's still at the early stage where he gets angry when matches are bad, I'm at the point where I get despondent—and I'm hoping at some point he'll start handling the frustration better otherwise I don't think our controllers are going to last very long. I feel bad that so often one of us gets tunneled out first thing with fewer than 5k BP, and I'm supposed to be the experienced one helping him have fun but I can't because I'm not actually good at the game, and it sucks that he's destined to have a bad time because of my ineptitude. That he can't see anything and often gets lost because the maps are so dark on the Switch makes it even worse. Whether he plays handheld or docked on the TV screen, the maps are too goddamn dark.

We console players must be really stupid, stubborn [BAD WORD]ers to stick with this game.

  • Trapper starts with one trap on him. If he uses a bag to carry extra traps, he also starts with extra traps.

Oni doesn't start with a power, he has to earn it. The same could debatably be said of Myers.

That's not how math works. 525% in each game for 5 games in a row is a LOT more than 105% for 5 games in a row.

Depends on how much you make in the match. If I make fewer than 5k BP base because I get tunneled out, then I'm making less with 5 cakes than I would from one good match with a single cake.

My survivor matches have been absolute suck lately, I'm better off saving my cakes.

  • Tomie.

(Yes, I know she has a skin in Identity V. That was a limited time thing, though, so it hardly counts.)

I don't think the game is an excuse tho. It is just that people treat others like trash regardless.

Sure they get frustrated through the game but we all do sometimes and not all of us go out of our way to say horrible things to others.

I never meant it to be an excuse, just that I practically expect it from people who play DbD at this point. The frustration this game causes brings out a lot of negativity. I know it's not everyone who does it, I for one don't go around saying horrible things to others, and I did get some nice messages from people back when I had messages turned on. I also got the toxic after-game crap and I'd be super nice and polite in return, and some people actually apologized.

  • I turned off messages and never messaged anyone myself. It's hard for people to interpret tone via text, and you never know if someone will actually get the joke or not.

Also, this game has a habit of bringing out the worst in some people. That's part of why I turned off messages. I see more than enough of it in game, I don't need flavor text to go with it.

I'm dumb and understand nothing about Dbd so please, as all of you on this forum have an IQ above 150, can someone smart (pretty smart) explain me how survivors can bully a killer during the trial please ?

Note before the smartest ppl from this forum answer my question :

Bullying = the behaviour of a person who hurts or frightens someone smaller or less powerful

Now i'm waiting for the smartass that will come and give me an explanation.

I can't tell what you want. Do you want someone to explain what bullying in this game is or are you making a poor attempt at a joke? Are you the smartass in this situation? And who is this in response to? Because the OP is talking about killers ruining the fun of survivors.

What even is this post? Is this a strange form of bullying where you insult a person before they even respond to you?

Sorry, I'm dumb and understand nothing about strangely insulting posts on forums.

And when are survivors going to reward the killer with giving them kills for allowing you to farm 5 gens and get some heals? What's that? Never? Sounds about right.

They don't even like to give killers hooks much less kills.

I was farming points off zombies as Nemesis. A survivor motions to come to a pallet so they can stun me with it. I hit a hook. They shake their head no. I get 100 points for breaking a pallet and 300 for killing a zombie, so yeah, I went back to hunting zombies. They escaped with very few points because gens don't reward that much.

I've learned that most survivors don't like reciprocating Bloodpoints. As long as I let them hit me with pallets, they're happy, but if I hit them with my weapon once they run and go into hiding. Do they think I get the same number of points for breaking a pallet as they do for stunning me with it?

I don't even want kills, just hits and hooks, but I'm not their Bloodpoint machine: either it's a give-and-take or they can play gen repair sim and leave with their 7-12k BP.

Lol God I love survivors that are too ignorant to learn the game and instead call for nerfs when they lose 1 match

Quote from OP: "I mean we still beat him but still"

He didn't even lose one match.

  • I'm really curious why some of the newer PTB feedback sections aren't being added to the archives. The 4.6.0 PTB (the All-Kill chapter) isn't in the archives, and the 5.0.0 PTB (the Resident Evil chapter) also isn't in the archives. The 4.7.0 PTB feedback is in the archives, however, so it's not like they just stopped archiving the PTB feedback altogether; there's some sort of PTB-specific reasoning behind this.

  • Nurse. I had been learning her back before they added the cool down to her blinks. She was a fun challenge, and I was getting better... but I can't stand her, now. I'd rather lose and have fun than win by playing her.

Spirit. I can't track via sound. I play her anyway, sometimes, but not much. I keep looking at better headphones, I need new headphones anyway, but due to the PlayStation 4's fans during this game I need something with Active Noise Cancellation, and any pair of headphones with decent ANC and good audio quality is going to be expensive.

  • @Laluzi said:

People should use their cakes now for the sole reason that earning more bloodpoints right now allows you to buy more cakes. Earning more bloodpoints later doesn't generate cakes.

^ This. This is why I bother to burn my cakes right now. More BP => more cakes => more BP => more cakes...

  • As survivor, I only use cakes when I play with my friend, that way even if one of us gets tunneled out (which happens 99% of the time) the other will hopefully get a little something out of it. It makes him feel pressured to do well, though, so I've pretty much stopped burning cakes as survivor altogether. I try to point out that I want to prestige these characters, so using the cakes and earning a small amount is better than outright trashing them, but he still gets irritable about "wasting" cakes. 😒

As killer, I'm trying to level up Nemesis, so I'm burning his cakes. But the way my matches go I've learned to mostly focus on killing zombies to earn my BP. If any of you ever see a Nemesis zombie hunting, that's me, please farm with me.

Anyway, cakes are shared, so if you actually want to be good to your console friends, save your cakes until after console becomes playable again. Then burn your cakes so console players get some love. 🍰❤️

  • Just put it back so that tier 1 Myers is immune to Spine Chill. That's all I want to see.

  • I'll usually reject the offer and encourage the survivor to leave. I appreciate the thought, but they're sacrificing 5k BP for escaping and all I get is 700 BP in return. I think in terms of Bloodpoints, not kills, so I just see a very unbalanced trade.

However, if I'm working on a challenge to kill survivors by any means, I become less likely to attempt to push them out.

  • The game froze my entire PS4 today. I was running to make a save, and when I got close everything just froze. The power button on the PS4 wouldn't even work, I had to unplug it, which the system was super happy about.

It's weird, 'cause the game crashed on Switch the other day when I was running to make a save. Probably just a coincidence, though. The Switch crash was on RPD and the PS4 freeze was on Badham.

The low framerate and stuttering on the Switch is hell on trying to hit skill checks, btw. It's constantly feeling like there's not enough visual information or that they change speed. I didn't experience much of an improvement with the recent change to the graphics, when BHVR put them on the low setting so it looks like I'm playing a PS2 game. When I play on Switch, I dream of a future with a nice steady 20 fps. Skill checks need a steady framerate or the game might as well just skip the middle man and teleport the killer over.

Yeah we definitely didn't notice that to begin with.

On a serious note, P3 skins should apply to the legendaries (if that's what you were referring to) because of the concept itself. But of course there is the issue of licensing, and licensing is already a #########, so I doubt it'd happen any time soon (or maybe not at all) but hopefully one day.

Well, according to that Konami email, BHVR has creative control, so at least the Silent Hill Legendary outfits should get to have Prestige versions.

  • Got put on that map against a Legion, who I don't think was having a great time of trying to figure out how to get to the red blinky spots when they Feral Frenzied. My friend died on his second hook before any gens were done because the survivors couldn't figure out how to get to us. And then when Legion decided to farm rather than slaughter us DbD crashed on me, stealing my cake. 😭🍰

Goddamn RPD is a mess. When it's finally ready to go live, which apparently it still has issues since it crashed my game, it needs to be heavily weighted so that players can learn the layout because right now it feels impossible to navigate.

  • My friend does that. His chair squeaks, so even if I'm in a different room I know when he goes for a lunge. 🔪

  • They should basically double how many Bloodpoints survivors get for actions. They could still cap it all at 32k if necessary, but goddamn in most matches it really feels like one way or another you don't get much opportunity to earn Bloodpoints as a survivor.

Taking away the 8k cap per category would be nice, too, considering you rarely get to be a jack of all trades in a match. If the killer's chasing me and I max out Boldness, and I suspect I'm going to die and not get to do anything else, I have no incentive not to just cut the chase short and let him kill me so I can move on to the next match. I'm sure some killers have wondered why I suddenly stopped mid-chase and pointed at a hook.

  • You're not wrong, but at least for this one you can change the key binding.

The one driving me absolutely nuts lately is that I'll be in the dying state trying to go through the hatch and the only option it wants to give me is Recover. I've had it take a good 5-10 seconds to get through the damn hatch just crawling around trying to get the correct button prompt to proc.

  • I was burning them, but I was getting tunneled out of matches making less than 5k base at times and not having any fun. When I stopped burning them, I started having better matches.

Like I always say, Bloodpoint offerings are bad luck. I can't blame people for not wanting to burn them. I notice that, whether it's me or someone else, whoever burns a cake somehow gets tunneled out first thing. This is why I usually just trash BPS when I prestige.

  • The game is not well designed. The entire gameplay loop of slugging, hooking, tunneling, there's nothing positive in those aspects. Fun death animations on the second hit or something with survivors being able to resurrect each other would be much more entertaining. And on the survivor side, the only fun thing is chases. Doing gens is boring. Being slugged or hooked means being sidelined, unable to participate. How is that a healthy aspect in any game? To make it worse, chases are supposed to be short, they're designed to be short, because long chases absolutely screw the killer. The two sides' fun are in direct opposition to each other.

The game needs a creative solution. It needs more structure. It really needs to get away from the possibility of cutting players' fun short with tunneling, camping, and gen rushing. Or it at least needs to award more Bloodpoints even when things go bad to soften the blow of short, miserable matches.

  • I constantly get tunneled when I play Leon, but I honestly can't tell if that's more than usual or not.

  • Dunno what you're on about, The Trapper was adorable before his rework. A lot of people also find Wraith adorable, not to mention he's tall and slender while still having a muscular upper body; I'd totally hit that.

Nemesis is a licensed character, it's not like BHVR designed him. Plus he's tall and strong and he has tentacles; while he may not have the most attractive face, paper bags exist for a reason.

  • End of Days Ash needs his correct hair! His right side is supposed to have a large white streak while the left side is still dark.

His blue shirt should also be darker, but the incorrect hair is what really detracts from an otherwise great cosmetics set.

  • Original version. BHVR should've leaned harder into him being a Jon Berthan or Frank Grillo bruiser-type. The new version looks dopey. His face seems longer, from the front his jawline looks weaker, and as has been already pointed out his head is shaped like a potato.

Edit: I made this image to show what I mean.

    david-comparison.png

His face is definitely longer, and his jaw is less defined.

I've also noticed that his eyebrows are too short. See how far back from the bridge of his nose they start? Very dopey looking.

  • I've been playing it on Switch (my friend got it so we can play together, normally I'm on PS4 but now we take turns playing on the two systems).

  • Can't escape to unlock the crowns, Switch performance is stuttery and laggy so I go down quick in a chase, 95% of the time when I attempt to throw down a pallet nothing happens. God forbid I burn a cake, then I get tunneled out first thing with fewer than 4k points at base.

I wish I didn't want to unlock the crowns or level up any characters, I'd prefer to just not play at all right now. But this Switch account is new, I have nothing in terms of cosmetics and perks. :(

The crowns need some other requirement than escaping, something reasonable. If I survive to escape, I can't find a crown. If I find a crown, the killer can spot me from across the map and I don't survive to escape. It's frustrating as hell.
