  • I'm having this same issue on both PS4 and Switch.

  • Yeah, my friend got tunneled and hit most of the skill checks on his second hook (no one went to save him, either), and the game gave him a warning about suspicious behavior. This is an absolute garbage system. You don't punish people for getting tunneled or missing skill checks.

I'm furious even watching that happen to someone else. It's not okay.

Edit: I thought he only missed one. No, he missed more than one, but we're on console. We miss a lot of skill checks. All kinds of skill checks. All the time. I almost never make it through an entire second hook timer on Switch. Seriously, I just finished out a match where I missed half of my generator skill checks because something is off with my timing today, the skill checks feel faster than normal so I'm not hitting the button in time.

BHVR, punishment systems are awful, fix the in-game mechanic to do whatever it is you need it to do. Don't punish us because your implementation of the second hook state doesn't completely align with your vision.

  • Wait, hold on a sec. This was more than a bug report, it was a question. I'd like to know whether or not I own the Premium Rift. It would really suck to find out later, after this Rift is over, that something went wrong and I won't be allowed to keep it. This video is proof I bought it, even if it spit out an error, right? I told the game to buy the Premium Rift, the stuff now shows as unlocked. The fact I never got a message telling me my purchase was successful doesn't damn me, does it?

  • My friend stopped playing Chucky after BHVR first started messing with him, which really sucks because Chucky was the one and only killer he ever liked playing. He does not play killer at all, now.

I've stopped playing every killer except Nemesis. Most killers feel awful on console. I stopped playing Spirit when she lost collision during her phase. I stopped trying to learn Nurse when she gained a cooldown. Killers with complicated powers feel extremely clunky on console due to the button mapping, sensitivity, and input lag, so Vecna for instance is miserable. Some killers I don't play because their Deviousness BP gains are so bad. Like Kaneki? He seemed like he might be fun when I played him a bit, but holy hell his Deviousness earnings are nearly nonexistent. I could earn more BP spamming Legion's Feral Frenzy staring at a wall than I did playing Kaneki for real, using his power nonstop and getting a 4k. Ending a match with a BP category super low makes me feel like I failed and completely discourages me from using the killer.

Anyway, I've played killer less and less over time, in large part due to perk changes (first it was BBQ, then it was Beast of Prey and Distressing). At this point I play a few rounds here and there working on quests and that's about it. I'm not even going to bother trying to finish the killer milestone quests. Quests aren't like the tome challenges, quests are ephemeral, so I do not care.

  • The offering should only affect the survivor burning it, so three survivors would have to burn the offering to split up all four of them. One shroud separating all four survivors is awful. Especially if you're playing with a friend and the two of you want to start together.

  • @KNIGHTWOLF said:

I think they should repurchase the license for him

The license changed hands since Pinhead was added to DbD. The license reverted back to the creator, and he appointed Surge Licensing as the global licensing agent, so it seems you should be petitioning one or both of them for Pinhead's return to the DbD store.

  • Yeah, I'm not into it, either. It just emphasizes how much I prefer having perks of my choosing.

  • I want the Tomes/Compendium to stay forever. It's a large amount of content, I haven't finished all of them and now's not really the right time for me to work on it, and it's become such a core part of DbD I'd just hate to see it taken away. Really they could treat it as an expanding sort of story mode and add to it occasionally, maybe a couple times a year, specifically tying it to lore instead of the Rift so it's not mandatory, it's just for players who are into that stuff or want more BP.

I was really disappointed BHVR got the hair wrong. I even pointed it out back in 2019 when the cosmetic was released:

    @TragicSolitude said:

Ash's hair for his End of Days cosmetic should be different than his hair with the other cosmetics. The right side has a large white streak while the left side is still dark.

His blue shirt should also be darker, but the incorrect hair is what really detracts from an otherwise great cosmetics set.

Sadly, the post got no traction.

  • ash-end-of-day.jpg

They still need to fix this outfit. Ash's hair is wrong, it should be like on the right.

  • This one might fit through doorways:

Edit: Oh hey, I can mess with pictures a bit and make them not huge. That's cool.

  • Well, here's the bug report:

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE: I am not receiving ANY rift fragments from XP.

    PLATFORM: Xbox

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED: I was getting rift fragments from XP (5 per game basically) but once I completed all of the survivor quests I stopped getting any rift fragments at all from XP. Doesn't matter how many games I play the number stays the same and I can't progress in the rift any further without doing quests. If I have an active quest I notice I get the extra 5 rift fragments that game but otherwise I don't see the number change at all. If I play killer I notice I get 5 fragments after the game but I think that's because I have killer quests left to complete. Every survivor game I play I don't get any fragments afterwards. It seems to be bugged with the quests or something. I tried to report this problem before but my post was just closed on me and I can't seem to find any official info about this, only other people on forums saying the same thing about the rift fragments being bugged (not receiving them from XP).

VIDEO: I uploaded a photo of the rift progress. That number does not change no matter how many games I play it remains at 20/100 (unless I have an active quest). I don't think I need to film a 15 min video of before and after the game. It's not something I am making up, this is a real bug. Please, a little help?

PLAYER LOGS: ****I AM NOT PLAYING ON PC****

    • Player logs are required from PC players only.

In it, JocelynAwakens says that players should be "receiving 5 Rift Fragments per 500 XP", implying it should be earned whether or not there's an active Quest.

Reading to the end of the thread, it seems the bug might've been fixed when 2v8 ended. As far as I know, there's been no official confirmation on it being a bug or it being fixed, though.

  • 100 Rift Fragments = 1 Rift tier

3 daily quests = 45 Fragments (15 for each Quest)

You earn 5 Fragments per 500 XP when playing (half of what it used to be; with Tomes, we used to get the equivalent of 10 Fragments per 500 XP).

We only get a pop-up about earning Fragments if we completed Quests or if we complete a Rift tier. Otherwise, the game doesn't show us that we earned Fragments for XP.

Also, there's a bug where if you finish all the Quests for one side, then you won't get Fragments for XP when playing that side. So if you finished all the survivor milestones and weeklies, then you will only earn Fragments for XP when you have dailies unfinished, and after you complete the dailies you'll stop earning Fragments as survivor.

Edit: That bug might be fixed. It's been a few days since anyone updated the bug report thread, and the last couple posts said XP Fragments are working properly without active Quests.

Thank you for your help. Yes, on PS4 and it is hectic. It says on the trophy conditions now that it is 20 but I suspect it may still be stuck on 100. I've been trying to boost for it forever. Occasionally, will get such in normal play. I hear that since nurse's calling is 28 meters, that is a good measuring device. Literally, the only trophy I don't have outside of the new killer's trophy for exact hits. "Nowhere to hide" sounds like an excellent idea.

It says on the trophy conditions now that it is 20 but I suspect it may still be stuck on 100.

    It's almost definitely still 100.

There's a thread from June 2024 about the bug. I posted a video there of me getting 32 downs on a single day and the trophy not unlocking. I too have every old trophy except this one. (Not sure about the newest trophies because there's no way to actually check them. I definitely have most of them, though.)

    @FixSkiledHuntresPS4 said:

The Skilled Huntress Trophy is bugged and doesn't match the number the trophy asks for, this also applies to the PS5 version!

Steps to reproduce: Get 20 downs with hunters further than 24 meters, the trophy will NOT activate but will after 100.

    How often: All the time.

I recently got more downs and the trophy didn't unlock, so I have no reason to think they fixed the trophy.

I can't believe how long this has gone on. It was awful when it was 100 and it said 100. It's even worse to have it say 20 but require 100.

I hear that since nurse's calling is 28 meters, that is a good measuring device.

Yeah, I've used that one before. It's good since if you move away until about where the aura disappears you know it'll count towards the trophy.

  • Even though I posted a link to the thread where I shared a video, do I need to post the video itself here, too?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3upiajIRGs

Here it is, a video of me getting 32 downs from 24+ meters away today. During a single day.

This video doesn't include the downs I was kind of iffy about in terms of their distance on that day. This video doesn't include anything I did on any other day in the last 7 years, it's one single day. I got a bunch more downs during a recent 2v8.

And no, I still do not have the Skilled Huntress achievement.

  • It's sad that there's a bug report with 53 upvotes about this very issue and it was just brushed off as "Not a bug" and closed.

    @YayC said:

    SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE:
Chests and killer items use the same spawn locations and when maps are being generated, the chests are being spawned in first. This means killers who have interactive items that need to be by generators such as Sadako to push condemn and Xenomorph/Alien to pressure generators end up having their TV's/Turret Stations spawning great distances away from generators. Especially when offerings that increase the number of chests get used such as the anniversary cobbler and the new winter mistle toes, rendering the killer items completely useless and the killers unplayable when this happens. This is especially noticable when playing these newer events because everyone is running the offerings which spawn and extra chest since they also have bloodpoint incentives.

    PLATFORM: Steam/All Platforms

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED:
Load into a map where multiple chest offerings are being used and look at the placement of TV's/Turret stations comparative to generators. Alternatively, load in on any of the swamp maps with and without a cut coin and without the coin you will never have a killer item spawn near the main building whereas with the cut coin (removes all chests except basement) you will always have a killer item spawn in the main building.

I mean it could sound that way, but I understood what you meant and it seems most people here understood what you meant, not thinking you were holding anyone hostage. After all, that's impossible for the Killer to do by kicking gens anyway now - there is a kick limit, Survivors can always repair 5 generators and escape. It taking longer than the Survivors may want is in no way "holding the game hostage", it's just a really long round.

Besides, if Survs refuse to keep doing gens for 10 minutes, the Killer can always Abandon. That's also a thing.

if Survs refuse to keep doing gens for 10 minutes, the Killer can always Abandon. That's also a thing.

I myself have done that a few times. Then I saw a match yesterday as survivor where that happened, and I was disappointed to discover that survivors get the escape BP for that. Like, what? Survivors get 7k for doing nothing until the killer just wants out? That's a terrible system. The players should get the BP they earned and that's it, no bonuses; not only did the survivors not escape, but they weren't even trying to escape…

    Eh, that's off topic.

it's just a really long round.

I was surprised that my rounds seemed to be around 15 minutes. They felt longer than they actually were.

In terms of the disconnects I got, I think it was usually because of their teammates not pushing through gens. So, as I always say, matchmaking is one of the biggest problems in this game. Me being a gen kicker rather than a chaser may have disappointed a couple, but I think experienced survivors getting stuck with teammates who hide at the first hint of a heartbeat and let gens regress back to 0 were probably a much bigger factor.

I've had matches myself where the killer wasn't killing and my teammates weren't pulling their weight. And I really wanted out, because it was just tedious, but I've never disconnected. I can understand why someone would, though, especially if they only have a limited amount of time to play the game.

Edit: Okay, I've seen video of killers abandoning other matches and the survivors didn't get BP for escaping, so I don't know what to think. Did the killer I saw go 10 minutes just to disconnect? The game needs a unique screen for survivors when the killer abandons, like "Entity bored, trial over."

  • Did you go through the full cross-progression procedure or did you only add the accounts to your BHVR account? Adding the accounts is only the first step. All progress, Iridescent Shards, BloodPoints, and things purchased with Auric Cells (but not actual Auric Cells) transfer.

Full process here (grabbed from their FAQ):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4TPe0AeCjo

If you did all that but stuff still didn't transfer, you may need to open a support ticket: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests

  • I think this still applies:

Fence pillars are 8 meters apart.

Took first pic with a wall from Google:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JDREJ50YAVSO/image.png

Don't know if that helps. I try to use the pillars or the side of the killer shack (also supposedly 8 meters) to help me judge distances when I play. To me, it looks like you're 24 meters away in that video, but I'm terrible at judging distance.

I'm sorry you're on PlayStation where it still requires 100 downs. Every once in a while I break out Huntress and try to get some more downs towards it, but it feels pointless 'cause how have I not hit it yet? It feels like I should've unlocked the Trophy by now.

Edit: It just occurred to me: I don't know how the game measures distance for this Trophy. By that I mean, I don't know if it measures distance in a straight line between you and the survivor, or if it only cares about horizontal distance. In your video I think it's 3 shack lengths when it's a straight line from you to the survivor, but I'm less sure that 3 shacks would fit between you and the survivor if the killer shacks were plopped on the ground. God, I really am bad at judging distances. Nowhere to Hide has a 24 meter radius at tier 3, you could try using that in custom matches to get a feel for 24 meters.

  • I know this has nothing to do with the changes suggested in the original post, but I do have a change I'd really like to see made to the Ghoul:

    Better Deviousness gains.

Spirit and Legion earn Deviousness for pressing a button that activates their power and then staying in that state. The Ghoul requires aiming, way way too often I see a red icon and then when I tell it to leap the icon changes to white and my tentacles leak impotently, and yet when it does grab I don't get any BP for it. I can use his power constantly to traverse the map and grab survivors and earn damn near nothing for Deviousness. It has absolutely stopped me from playing him.

  • Ever had a killer DC because you went around with Any Means Necessary and picked up every pallet they didn't break?

I have. Gens weren't popping or anything, but damn did those pallets returning make those killers miserable.

  • I don't think most PC players would wait for console players to type out a response. Chat would probably mostly be PC players talking at console players, and there's a good chance it wouldn't be nice. This game is the entire reason I turned off messaging on PlayStation.

RIGHT? I loved having the option to use the candelabras, but most of the time I would just skulk around in the dark and sneak around

Same here. I used the candelabras for marking exit gates or showing my teammates where I was on the map, or I'd put them down behind rocks to make the killer think someone was back there hiding. Good times.

  • The candelabras made it awesome. The bats in the darkness were also a really nice touch. I hope Lights Out 2.0 returns.

(From what I've seen on the forums, I'm in the severe minority with this opinion.)

Throwing the game is not under the official list of bannable offenses, it's just not in the spirit of things. Nobody is going to be banned for going around overkicking gens and losing the game doing that, they simply played the Game inefficiently and lost.

You cannot be banned for playing inefficient and losing. Stop being weird.

Nah, their response wasn't totally unreasonable: I misworded my original post, it probably sounded like I was holding the survivors hostage or something. (Not the case, I really want to stress that, the survivors slow themselves down more than I slow them down.) I went back and edited my post after their reply to me.

it's just not in the spirit of things

Changing my playstyle because of a bug is actually totally in the spirit of a BHVR game. lol

Really, I know I'm a bit strange in that this is an elimination game, yet often when I play killer I prefer to chase and hook but usually let everyone go. I really dislike the milestone Quest for killing, as I feel it forces my hand. I didn't like the escape milestone as survivor, either, because it encourages leaving as soon as the exit gates are open and I don't think I offered killers a single mori before I finished that Milestone.

    @Garboface said:

I would suggest a random electric jolt be delivered to their controller at a completely random moment within the next 15 minutest after the indiscretion has occured. Primitive, yes but they will think twice before repeating the offense.

This made me chuckle. My friend and I have made similar comments, only rather than DCing we say it about survivors hiding all match instead of participating.

Then what is the point of perks like boil over, power struggle, or flip flop? Were you told this or did you just analyze it and come up with this? This game is extremely killer sided and the fact that even with all these perks which are meant to allow you to escape the killer's grasp, it is still nearly impossible. I never said its meant to be a "get out of killers grasp free card", but I think if you've spent a decent amount of time wiggling you should be able to get out of their grasp considering it takes 16 whole seconds.

Were you told this or did you just analyze it and come up with this?

I'm not the person you were asking, but here are some screen caps from devs about wiggling:

    wiggle-01.png

    wiggle-03.png

    wiggle-04.png

You can see they mention there are perks that can help, perks that can make it harder for the killer, but it's still never meant to be guaranteed. Killers also have perks to help them carry survivors to a hook, like Iron Grasp, Agitation, and Mad Grit. In general, any time BHVR buffs wiggling too much, killers resort to slugging a lot and then everyone is miserable. It's better to err on the side of killers reaching hooks rather than not reaching hooks.

  • I'd love to see more gore in the Springtrap mori, but BHVR's probably never going to include dismemberment like what's shown in those pictures and I'm pretty sure that's because of rules in other countries where DbD is played/sold.

To be fair, you are not really playing the game as intended. Which is a bannable offense.

    @Topic:

IMO the first penalty or maybe the first two penalties should be lenient. Because people should not be punished too much for unintended crashes. Yesterday for some reason my game basically exploded when a Dracula transformed in front of me. I would have been quite mad if this would have been a harsh penalty.

And the last two willing DCs I did were against Cheaters. One time when playing Survivor, one time when playing Killer (several weeks between those). I dont care too much, since it is only one minute, but if it would be more I would be pretty upset that I get a harsh penalty because I faced a Cheater. (I could not even suicide on Hook as Survivor. I wanted to be out of the game since I dont want to play with a Cheater and they got me stuck in the Unhook animation…)

To be fair, you are not really playing the game as intended. Which is a bannable offense.

Oof, the only things I'm able to do on Switch are small bursts of chase and kick gens; the performance is too bad for me to track in chase much less get hits unless they offer to farm. If being boring or not good at the game in a match that doesn't even reach 20 minutes is bannable, then DbD's got problems. But also BHVR needs to fix their Rift Fragment bug so I can complete the quests like normal. I've seen other people mention they tap gens to avoid finishing their skill check challenge, and I'm sure there are some who take the "just never unhook anyone" route.

Oh! Doesn't BHVR's AFK/DC system still have that awful feature that if you get a cheater who kills you too quickly, you get a DC penalty for it? I usually see cheaters in bursts, so I see an issue like that as a big problem. I definitely don't agree with harsher penalties if that's not fixed.

I can't remember the last time I DC'd. I remember getting insta-killed by cheaters. And I occasionally crash or more likely get disconnected by BHVR's servers. That's another problem, the "can't reach the servers" disconnect error that happens to everyone in the match but is treated like it's our fault and not BHVR's servers. That one's frustrating.

  • I dunno. Since 2v8 is finally gone and killer queues are reasonable, I'm playing gen kicker right now to work on the Quest milestone. I've had a couple DCs because they discovered no amount of fast vaulting would get me to alter course. It's not their fault BHVR bugged XP Rift Fragment gains so I'm completely avoiding downing survivors right now (that includes no grabs). I don't really blame them if they don't want a boring match where I go back and forth kicking gens until they manage to pop it or I get blocked off. I don't feel like a survivor who wants real matches should get a huge penalty if they get stuck in my lobby multiple times tonight.

Edit: Realized I worded it poorly and fixed it. The matches aren't actually long, I'm not a hostage-taker or 3-gen-holder. The matches feel drawn out because at the beginning the survivors abandon gens at the first hint of a heartbeat… the matches speed up once they realize I'm not a threat. Some have actually made the matches more interesting by organizing and trying to stop me, which is really hard to counter when I'm trying so hard not to down anyone. Still, some have disconnected because they weren't interested in that kind of match or because their teammates weren't helping, and I don't hold it against them. Hardcore players, casual players, and memers all get put in the same lobbies and matchmaking is awful. I get such a wide range of skill in my lobbies it's ridiculous.

  • Dying Light 2, and in the past couple months I got back into playing Dying Light 1 again. Recently(-ish) played through FAITH: The Unholy Trinity, Until Dawn, and Little Kitty Big City. I keep itching to play Bloodborne or The Lords of the Fallen again, but I feel like I should play one of the games I've been sitting on like Agony or Evil Within 2.

I would probably still be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons if Nintendo hadn't dropped the ball on that one. God only knows how much time I put into the previous AC games. Some of my other modern faves are Catherine, the DOA series, OMORI, and Cult of the Lamb.

  • Happy birthday! Glad it sounds like you had a good one :)

  • In their struggle to make the game friendlier to new players, it's easier for BHVR to break things that work (the rarity colors, Rituals/Tomes becoming "Quests") than fix the things that are broken. And the things BHVR's changed don't even make the game friendlier to new players. The change to rarity colors hurts color blind players and it makes a lot of old guides confusing at best and useless at worst (guides which new players need because the in-game tutorial is next to useless). BHVR has also admitted they're going to remove the Compendium, which is a ton of content that is a huge help to new players dealing with the grind, so that's another change that's actually hurtful in the long run.

Anyway, I'm going to copy and paste a comment I made on a similar thread:

The game needs better matchmaking that puts new players against new players rather than sticking them in a meat grinder. I go against new killers who get absolutely miserably stomped. I get new survivor teammates who don't have a clue. It's awful for me and it's awful for them.

The game needs better tutorials that help players learn perks and powers. The tutorials should reward a nice chunk of BP to help new players on their way to unlocking more toys to play with. As is, new players have horrible early matches where they don't understand what's going on and they don't earn much BP, so they don't get to unlock new stuff that would help them or at least make matches more fun. The new player experience is negative on top of negative.

It needs these things before a new licensed chapter releases, not after. After is too late.

  • Can also confirm, I claimed the Twitch drops and they didn't unlock on PS4. I even updated the link to my Twitch profile on my BHVR account to make sure it was fresh and working. Still, the claimed drops haven't unlocked.

I don't get why people say the rift progress gained from exp earned is halved. It isn't, it's the same. Before, it was 500 exp to get 1 fragment, and 10 fragments to level up. So 5000 exp to level up. Now it's 250 exp for 5 fragments and 100 fragments to level up… So 5000 exp to level up. At least the 250 exp per 5 fragments has been consistent for me ever since the new quest system dropped.

What is worse with this new system is the quests, they give pitiful amounts of progress compared to completing an entire page of a tome.

Before, it was 500 exp to get 1 fragment, and 10 fragments to level up. So 5000 exp to level up.

    Yes.

Now it's 250 exp for 5 fragments and 100 fragments to level up

No, it's 500 XP for 5 Fragments. That's what I earn. If you're getting 5 Fragments per 250 XP, then that's a bug or something, because even a representative of DbD has said it's 500 XP for 5 Fragments:

A bug would explain alot, i've been trying to track when it gives the 5 fragments to figure out how reliant on quest's the new system is. You can go hour's without getting that bonus 5 xp, not to mention it doesn't always tell you it gave it to you when you do manage to get it.

Unless today's update changed something, it practically never tells me when I earn 5 Fragments.

In the bug thread, JocelynAwakens says that players are rewarded 5 Fragments for earning 500 XP in trials. It sounds like it's supposed to be cumulative, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's bugged and it's on a per-trial basis rather than cumulative. Has anyone tested and made sure it is rewarding Fragments based on XP cumulatively?

  • Killers often feel clunky. It feels like I move slowly while survivors can spin in sonic-speed circles. Killers with powers to move at super-fast speeds are usually difficult to control (at least on controller). There are no dead zone or response curve settings, so ranged killers feel awful. Then there's that other jankiness, where the camera speed changes when using the killer's power, then it abruptly jarringly returns to normal. Not to mention aim dressing.

And every console issue is worse on killer. The low fps, frame drops, input lag, controller sensitivity, etc. are manageable as survivor but hugely detrimental for killers. I play Nemesis because his zombies aren't affected by performance issues and because Nemmie's strafe makes his long-range(-ish) attack the only one I'm able to get value out of.

It's literally the main/only objective to do in the game for survivors next to unhooking and totems. Having an issue with survivors Gen rushing is like telling them not to play the game. Yes, it sucks to watch 3 gens pop in a singular chase that took you longer than you would have liked to finish, but…..it's….the point of the game….I really don't understand why people get so bitter about it.

This is a legit question. No bitterness, just intrigued.

Survivors and Killers both make some arbitrary rules towards one another and what can constitute as "Toxic behavior". Just curious why this is even one of them.

it's….the point of the game….I really don't understand why people get so bitter about it.

The generators are the survivor's objective but they're not really the point. The point is to interact with the killer. If anyone queues up for matches solely to play gen repair sim, that's pretty lame.

As for why people are bitter…

Generators function as a sort of timer that can be influenced by the actions of the players. Gen rushing means four people queued up to play a five-player game with the sole intention of speeding up that timer and ending the match as quick as possible. That leaves the fifth player feeling like four people don't want to interact with him and specifically worked to make sure he got to do very little in the match they queued up to play together. They may be on opposing sides, but they're still playing the same game together.

It's similar to tunneling. Instead of the killer feeling they were excluded from the game, one survivor feels they were targeted to be prevented from playing. For survivors, a fun match is well rounded with chases, saves, and gen repair, so if a survivor is prevented from doing two of those three things and yanked out of the match as fast as possible, it feels pretty crappy.

We can talk about "illogical" and "but gameplay reasons" and all that, but in the end players are just humans, and humans don't enjoy playing a game where they're prevented from playing and/or feel like no one else wants to play with them. DbD is a game where playing efficiently is often unfun as hell for the opposing side, and it understandably causes a lot of friction. No amount of talking it through is going to change that gut reaction and frustration many people are going to feel in those situations.

I agree it's not enough. The point of this post was to say you DO get it, not to say it's good you only get this much.

I realized the point. I was saying that it's very easy to miss because it's such a small amount and the game wasn't doing enough to show people they were even earning those Fragments. When you're not seeing noticeable progress and you're not getting that little pop-up with the bar that fills up to show XP = Fragments, then many players are going to understandably think they aren't earning any Fragments. They weren't lying, just mistaken, and it's because BHVR did a poor job implementing this system.

Plus, as I mentioned, there are people who aren't earning Fragments for XP, which adds to the confusion.

  • Halving the amount is pretty significant. It really feels like you don't make progress with the new system. It was very easy to miss the rewarding of those 5 fragments, too, since the new system wasn't displaying the little bar illustrating XP to Fragments after a match.

Also, it seems there is a bug where people are not getting any Rift Fragments for XP: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/445614/no-rift-fragments-from-xp

I've played DBD since it first came out off and on with my friends and siblings, this new quest system feel awful. Feels more like a checklist than a journey. It's so bad, that I have stopped playing after 1 game, every time I feel like playing. It's killing my mood to continue playing this game.

    Agreed.

DbD has no story mode, so the Tome/Compendium is the closest thing. Tomes weren't just about earning Rift fragments. Sometimes they had themes, the players could choose pathways, and they have charms/badges available to be earned at the player's own pace. It felt rewarding to be working towards that end goal. The Tomes weren't perfect, but they provided goals, rewards, and a feeling of accomplishment, and they could be worked on at any time.

Without the Tome's pathways, it becomes a checklist of chores. By being able to complete multiples in one trial, the sense of accomplishment is severely diminished. The fact that these quests will only be available during this Rift and the timetable on which they're released means players are limited as to when they can do them and must be on BHVR's schedule. They also can't earn the Quest rewards after the Rift is over. Players can no longer bank rewards for later, either, so their rewards are less meaningful.

Even the name change to "Quests" is just another step towards complete genericness. "Tome" and "Ritual" were appropriate for DbD's horror them. Why would a group of people or creatures being tormented by an immortal, insatiable entity be going on "quests"?

I can’t be the only one who thinks the "go next" changes won’t make much difference. I can't count how many times I've unhooked players in the past who wanted to leave the match, only to watch them run straight back to the killer, troll their teammates, or be unhelpful for the rest of the game. Forcing them to stay won’t change that. In my opinion, the developers should focus on understanding why so many players leave games and address those underlying issues, rather than implementing band-aid fixes. Just my thoughts.

be unhelpful for the rest of the game

Not just be unhelpful, but making sure gens don't get done and teammates die, often getting the hatch in the end, just to spite everyone. It always feels great to have them in a match. I've gotten really ticked off at teammates who saved someone who obviously wanted to leave just so we could all get screwed over even worse.

Yeah, I don't think the Go Next changes are going to lead to an improvement in matches. People will take their frustration out on everyone else, I'd rather be down a player. BHVR's strange notion that people stick with this game because they enjoy the frustration is coming back to bite all of us on the ass, because no, they play despite the frustration, and their frustration comes out in the way they play, negatively affecting everyone else. One frustrated person in a match becomes a vector that spreads an increased level of frustration to four other people. It's a damn contagion. If BHVR thinks punishing the symptoms will make players happier, they're seriously underestimating the damage they've allowed to accrue by shrugging at people's frustration for years.

  • Why is this still not fixed? It's been going on a year, now.

  • In a surprise to no one, since they "fixed" issues with quests I am now having a lot of trouble viewing quests on PS4. It stalls out instead of loading the menu or quests. Or it loads the menu but shows an error instead of the quests. I finally got it all to load properly by just trying over and over again, but I never experienced these issues even once before.

They don't really bother me that much, but you can do a pretty easy install of old rarity icons if you so choose. Here's the link: https://nightlight.gg/packs/old-rarity-default-icons?search=old-rarity-default-icons

It might be nice if BHVR added a legacy rarity toggle so people could do it in game but, this should fix it for now.

Not on console. We're just stuck with this mess.

  • Did you map the Lich's four spells to the four buttons on the directional pad? Because his spell menu is ridiculously clunky on controller. I can't play him because I can't use his spells in a timely manner, I spend a good number of seconds in the spell menu when I bring it up, losing a lot of time.

Without that change of mapping his spells to the d-pad, anything else done to him is meaningless to a lot of players, because the spell menu makes him unusable for them.

  • Dang, PC is experiencing this now, too?

This has been the case since I can remember on console. Especially Nintendo Switch.

A huge, huge, huge downgrade indeed. The only aspect of the Quests system that is better is the ability to complete multiple challenges at once. Everything else is blatantly worse.

All they needed to do was to make it so you could work on multiple Tome challenges at once and the system would’ve been perfect. But for some reason they decided to overhaul EVERYTHING. Heck, they didn’t even keep the names “Ritual” and “Challenges”. What compelled them to do this is beyond my understanding.

Agreed. And personally, I would take the old Tome system and not being able to complete multiple challenges at once over this Quest system any day. Multiple challenges at once isn't even that great; I thought I wanted it, but after experiencing it, it just makes completing challenges feel less rewarding. They're chores, now.

Heck, they didn’t even keep the names “Ritual” and “Challenges”. What compelled them to do this is beyond my understanding.

Probably for the same reason they messed with the item/offering colors: to appeal to new players who may or may not stick around to the detriment of their long-time players, not caring that they're destroying the personality/identity DbD has established over the years.

But, hey, it's easier to mess with things that aren't broken which long-time players like rather than fix the issues that actually chase new players away.

  • I already disliked 2v8. This Quest system has caused me to hate 2v8 with a blinding passion. I really can't emphasize enough how much I want this mode to never come back at this point. I'm sick of fighting people for saves only for someone else to drag the killer over in a chase and the unhooked person does something unskillful so it's not even a safe unhook after all that. I don't enjoy the chases in this mode. Everything about 2v8 can burn. More survivors means more opportunities to be frustrated.

I'll start from afar, I had the game on PS4 for a long time, after which I abandoned the console and recently returned, asking a friend for an account on epic games .u After seeing the battle pass, I started downloading it, having completed all the currently available 2v8 quests and 60-day quests, then I bought the game on steam, synchronized the progress and saw that there was a battle pass level, but all the quests were not completed(i used google translate, so maybe i have word mistake

Okay. Going by that information, the issue may be connected to enabling cross-progression on a new platform after completing quests on the existing account.
