  • I could swear I remember it being said that the reason Iron Will doesn't work for survivors in the dying state is to prevent survivors being stuck on the ground bleeding out for four minutes because the killer can't find them.

  • @baesik There are so many ways to counter BBQ, I would run almost any other tracking perk over it if not for the BP bonus. It's often I don't even see any auras after hooking someone.

I run Borrowed Time and Empathy, and those help me get safe unhooks, but I'm still competing with two other survivors to get that unhook. I rarely run WGLF because it's frustrating trying to get stacks on it. If I ignore gens and stalk injured survivors who are being chased, it becomes easier but at the expense of gen progression, and even then I'm not guaranteed to beat the other survivors to the hook.

(It'd be nice if protection hits were always counted properly. There have been too many times where I should have gotten a WGLF stack but didn't.)

BBQ is so much better than WGLF because it's easier to consistently get the four stack. I just have to do my job and hook survivors; I don't have to compete with other killers to get those hooks.

  • I'm on PS4, and I keep getting The Pale Rose. Over and over again, I get The Pale Rose.

I hate the swamp maps. This really needs to stop.

  • Kate's new P3 hair is terrible. I don't know how they think that looks acceptable.

i meant in the way of : if the killer sees multiple survivors hell go for the 1 on their last hook instead of the other, i personally would do that if i could but i never really pay attention so i dont get to do it much, its efficient but it sucks for the surv

@CoffengMin It depends on the killer. It'd get some survivors killed and it'd save other surivors' lives. I've accidentally killed survivors just trying to get my BBQ 4 stack because I couldn't tell who'd been hooked. One match in particular stands out in my mind because I accidentally killed 2 survivors trying to get my BBQ 4 stack (3 Ashes in one match, still didn't get the 4 stack, either, 'cause I kept choosing the wrong Ashes to chase).

Rather than a default, it could be added to BBQ just to help killers get the 4 stack and not tunnel. If I'm remembering correctly, getting a stack on BBQ is usually worth more than getting a sacrifice.

Just an idea. However, due to the reaction, it seems unlikely this would ever get implemented, so it's all just daydreaming on my part.

  • MacReady from The Thing

Kaylie from Oculus (doesn't necessarily make sense since the villain is a mirror, I just love Karen Gillan, can they animate her amazing ponytail?)

    Karen Davis from The Grudge

Shaun from Shaun of the Dead

Marty from Cabin in the Woods

    Tree from Happy Death Day

Swink from Stay Alive. Can he shout, "#########, that's cheating!" whenever a killer uses their power? ;)

I understand where you're coming from, and me too i wish i had someway to count the hooks... especially when i'm playing as a friendly killer and would prefer avoid killing a survivor by mistake. I try to keep track but sometime it slips my mind 😅

@Gcarrara I'm happy someone else gets it :) I was starting to think I was the only one lol. I try really hard to keep track, but if I'm in the middle of a chase while someone's on the hook, it's really easy to miss seeing the "Entity Summoned" notification.

  • I wish I could remap it to the mouse wheel, but I play on console.

I hate having to button mash to stay alive. The longer I play survivor, the more likely I am to let myself die when I reach stage two on the hook. I feel like my thumb should be a mini Superman at this point, but instead it just pops funny in the joint when I bend it.

  • @starpilotsix said:

Nah, IMHO, the game's far more fun with uncertainty, on both sides, on who's got another hook in them.

Maybe the gates are open, or almost open, and the killer want to bait the survivors into a rescue... oops, that survivor's dead on hook, they now have no reason to stick around/slow down.

Or maybe a killer's carrying someone to the hook... is that survivor dead on hook, or has another state in them? Can't remember, so let's all cluster by the gate just in case we need to go in for an epic rescue. Oh no, they're dead. Double-oh-no, the killer has blood warden! If only we'd known the survivor was dead we could have avoided this! Or maybe I got in position, hiding near the hook, to pull off a save, only to realize no save could be made and exposed myself to danger on my way to the gate.

That's what makes for great moments.

@starpilotsix Well, I didn't necessarily mean that the survivors need to see it.

I just wanted something so I could avoid accidentally killing a survivor when I play killer. Being able to hook survivors more than one or zero times would mean more Altruism points for them, but I understand if players think that's not a good idea.

  • @CoffengMin That did occur to me, but if a killer's tunneling, they're already focused on one survivor. They chased that survivor, they hooked that survivor, they probably camped the hook. They don't need an icon to tell them what that survivor's status is, because they either already know the status or they're going to go after that survivor, anyway. The killers who don't know a survivor's hook status are the ones who are 'spreading the love,' not focusing on any one survivor, so they don't know that a survivor reached second stage on the hook. They can't remember if they need to hook the Nea with the blood or the Nea without the blood to get their BBQ 4 stack.

I hate that my choice when playing chill games is to either 1. not hook anyone more than once, or 2. risk hooking a survivor who already reached second state. So, I stick to only hooking everyone once. I dunno, the survivors I play with would probably like a few more chances to make a hook save. Their altruism scores must be pretty crap.

You literally have to repair gens to get out. Its not a mindset, its the rules of the game lol.

So, you're saying that rather than requiring survivors to open an exit gate and walk through it, the game should actually just end when the last generator is completed?

  • As many people have said here, I just want a global account that lets me keep my stuff if I purchase the game for another platform. I'd spend more money on the game if I knew it would carry over from PS4 to PC and vice versa.

  • Me: --plays as Ash in his bright red work vest--

Also Me: Why do I always die first?

I think wearing bright clothes should help survivors become smarter players and/or better loopers. I'm looking forward to the day that becomes true for me.

Anyway, it can be annoying when a survivor crouches and disappears into the environment. Every once in a while as killer I'll get spooked because suddenly the wall starts running away from me lol. However, I love it when a survivor crouches, expecting to disappear into the environment, and I get to whack them for it.

  • Yeah, the bugged 3-man lobby thing is really annoying. I'm seeing it a lot. I wait forever to get a lobby on PS4, then I end up with a bugged lobby and have to dump it and wait forever for a new one, again.

I've hardly been playing at all the past few days. The matches are shorter than the time spent waiting.

@TragicSolitude I don't DC unless the game messes up. I see so many people DCing over everything and anything and it's really annoying, though. Can't wait for dedicated servers where they'll be punishing that more (I believe). Who would we @ to get their two cents? I'm curious on what they think, too.

They contacted you for a video? I've never been asked for a video in any of my reports. Did they like message you on steam?

@fluffymareep Actually, I'm on PS4. I reported the player in-game, then I submitted a report using the official webpage, which opens a ticket while they investigate the claims. They responded and requested a link to the video showing the incident. It all happens within the open ticket.

I have no idea who to @ for an official response to the hostage question.

@TrueKn1ghtmar3 I normally like Mother's Dwelling, but I'm not sure it's a good map for Ghost Face. I don't know, I haven't done enough serious matches as him to form a good opinion. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed as Ghost Face in that match on Red Forest, but I also didn't have much for perks on him, yet. No Whispers. I don't run Ruin, anyway, so I definitely didn't have that. After a suicide and a sacrifice, the remaining two survivors weren't working on gens, so using a high vantage point to patrol gens didn't help.

@TragicSolitude Ohh, I read what you posted, but didn't read the name. Sorry.

Most people won't wait out for that long and you could just wait for them to slip up or search around the map. DCing should always be last resort and people already DC far too eagerly. I don't think it's justified in a situation where you can possibly still find them. Might be good practice, even.

Was it something that was actually considered holding the game hostage? Like did anyone get in trouble for it or are we just assuming they did? Did the devs say something against it?

@fluffymareep No problem. :) I can see how what I'm saying can seem conflicting.

I would never disconnect in that situation unless I think the game might be glitching. Otherwise, I'll search. I'm stubborn, and I don't like giving up bloodpoints.

I think it was actually considered holding the game hostage by the devs. Am I completely positive? Well, no. Which is why I think we need a dev to weigh in on this, otherwise it's just a discussion between players, and all we have are opinions, hearsay, and disinformation.

Back before the EGC, when I was going for an adept achievement as The Nurse, I had a survivor go into hiding with 4 gens left (so no hatch). It took 12 minutes to find and sacrifice them because they were hiding in dead zones refusing to touch a gen. I reported them, and when I did, the devs had me submit a video. I don't know if any action was taken against that player, but the devs didn't tell me "that's not a reportable offense." They treated it seriously.

Still, anecdotal evidence. We really need official input from the devs themselves.

@TragicSolitude I'm not sure if you're aware of what you're suggesting. Stealth isn't against the rules. People not working on generators isn't against the rules. You're not holding the game hostage as survivor if you decide to stealth around the map. The killer can still find, catch, and kill you. The game is held hostage when you can't move forward without DCing. You can.

While it's frustrating to try to find people hiding around the map, it's still possible. Plenty here have given good tips on how to find people and I've added to them. And as I said if you have this issue a lot, just bring Whispers.

@fluffymareep Dude, I'm one of the people who gave tips. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/543827/#Comment_543827 I was able to find the survivors who hid from me. I also usually bring Whispers if my killer has it unlocked. I'm not saying I can't find hiding survivors.

I'm just saying, if the killer isn't experienced and can't find the survivors, and the remaining survivors decide to hide on the map with no hatch and not touch gens, then how does the match end without someone disconnecting? The killer can't end the game because they're not experienced enough, and the survivors are refusing to end the game. How does that match end?

Back before the EGC, a survivor was considered to be holding the game hostage if they hid around the map not doing anything after the exit gate was opened. Yes, the killer could still find and sacrifice them, but the survivor could have been hiding anywhere. They were refusing to play the game, and if they did it for an extended period of time they were holding the killer hostage.

  • When I burn a mori, I try to hook everyone as quickly as possible but then hold back a bit to give everyone a chance to play the game before I start killing them. A counter like this discourages that playstyle and would instead encourage killers to tunnel off the hook to make sure their mori doesn't go to waste. With things like We'll Make It and instaheals, it's pretty easy to heal upon being unhooked if the killer's not camping the hook. With a change like this, a killer who brings a mori would be encouraged to camp the hook. I have trouble seeing a counter to moris that can be countered by camping and tunneling being a good step forward for the game.

  • @AetherBytes said:

@TragicSolitude in some cases it's understandable though. I had a 30 minute game once with 2 people left and 1 gen needing doing, but they were playing spirit and we couldn't stay on a gen long enough to do anything.. I spent most of that time looking for hatch, found it, got a key from a chest, and rescued the other survivor into the hatch

@AetherBytes It's not going to be the same across every match. In the match I had the other day, there was no hatch. I was playing Ghost Face, who's not able to really apply map pressure on a big map like Red Forest, and the last two survivors hid together in the corner of a map rather than touch a gen because they wanted me to DC. They were doing nothing to further the game. In your case, you were searching for the hatch and a key, so you were attempting to further the game. Different circumstances.

OP doesn't mention whether or not the hatch had spawned yet in his match, so I can't comment on that.

  • @fluffymareep I'm pretty sure if the survivors aren't actively working to end the game for an extended length of time, then they're holding it hostage. If they're moving around the map, preventing afk crows from spawning, but not doing anything else, then the only way the game can end is if the killer somehow manages to find them (and there's an entire map to search, they could be literally anywhere on it, there's no way to narrow down their location because they aren't working on the objective) or the killer disconnects.

If the survivors aren't working on generators but are hiding together on the map, then they can't escape. They can't win. What are they even doing? Nothing except dragging the game out. They're not getting points. The killer's not getting points. At that point, why not just give themselves up to the killer and end the game? If they're not working on gens, then that's how it's going to end, anyway, with them being sacrificed. What's the point of forcing it to continue if no one's making points or having any fun?

The only reason to keep the game going in that manner is in the hopes the killer will disconnect. There's no other reason to do that.

I think we need a dev to weigh in on whether or not this officially constitutes holding the game hostage, because all any of us players can do is spout opinions, hearsay, and disinformation.

  • @HURRI_KAIN Sorry, I was trying to reply to both you and someone else in one reply, so I guess it came off strange. I just wanted to get it all said in one go. I apologize.

Except you’re wrong. First off survivors do feel fear when opening a gate if it’s not close to opening because the killer is most likely going to get a hit or 2 off on them if they see them. Second, the survivors did all that hard work so why get punished THAT hard? And “adrenaline kicks in when the killer closes the hatch which now means slugging for the 4k is the preemptive counter to adrenaline” but if the killer closes the hatch then the speed boost on adrenaline isn’t so useful. Most people run self care so their most likely to be at full health already since the killer went and closed the hatch and wasn’t chasing the survivor. And now the killer can patrol the doors which is very easy to get 2 hits off on somebody especially when they are the last person alive.

@ZacKskills I didn't say survivors feel no fear when opening a gate. I said they feel no fear when running towards an already open gate. There's a difference. Watch uninjured survivors body block for an injured survivor in an exit gate, they have no fear of dying. Hooking a survivor during the end game is stressful, with BT and DS and exhaustion perks and (even though it's been nerfed and a lot less likely to be seen) MoM that all help an unhooked survivor reach that open exit gate. BT, DS, Dead Hard, and MoM can all counter NOED. Cleansing totems counters NOED. NOED counters Adrenaline and an open exit gate.

Next, the survivors are being punished for not cleansing totems. Everyone's always talking about a second objective. The whole point of a second objective would be to give killers a bit of breathing room, especially killers like Trapper, Hag, and Myers who need setup time. Right now, cleansing totems is the only secondary objective survivors have.

Killers get punished for tunneling by DS and BT. They're just trying to do their objective, which is sacrifice survivors in the most efficient way possible. Should they be punished that hard? Well, it sucks to be tunneled as a survivor, it's not fun, so the game uses perks to encourage a certain playstyle from killers. Survivors get punished for rushing through gens and ignoring totems by NOED. They're just trying to do their objective, which is finish the gens and escape. Should they be punished that hard? Well, as a killer it sucks for gens to get completed super fast and have no time to do anything, it's not fun, so the game uses a perk to encourage a certain playstyle from survivors.

DbD uses perks to fix problems instead of working on the core game mechanics. That's well known. That's part of what we're seeing here.

Often, killers run either Ruin or NOED. Ruin slows down gen repair from the beginning and encourages survivors to look for the hex totem. I see a lot of survivors complain about how Ruin is no fun. Other killers forego Ruin for NOED, which instead of slowing the game down from the start punishes survivors if they don't slow themselves down and cleanse totems. Survivors complain about NOED, too. If killers have neither, then a lot of them just get gen rushed to crap because survivors only have the one objective.

I don't run Ruin or NOED, because I'd rather run other perks. When the gens go too fast, I sometimes just give up and go wait at an exit gate so I can open it, because I don't really care and just play to screw around; if survivors prefer playing a gen repair SIM where all they do is hold M1, I'm not going to force them to stick around and interact with me. I've never gotten a complaint, so I assume survivors prefer my way of playing to Ruin and NOED.

I hate NOED as a survivor. I hate cleansing four dull totems and then getting sac'd on my first hook because NOED still proc'd. It sucks. But I understand why it's in the game. I think it would be better if the problems NOED is there to fix were handled in a better way, but until then, NOED is what we have. And if and when NOED goes, Adrenaline still needs to go, too.

  • @MegMain98 I disconnect if a survivor disconnects, especially if it becomes a 3v1 with 5 gens left. Otherwise, I'll usually just go afk. If I don't bother the survivors, it only takes them a few minutes to complete the gens. Then I can open an exit gate and force them to leave. God, I love the EGC.

I enjoy memeing around with survivors. I feel like taking this game too seriously is a surefire way to not have fun, so I stay in the crappy ranks so I can have chill matches and play how I want. Getting bloodpoints and my BBQ 4 stack (even if I'm not running BBQ) are my main goals, as is 'spreading the love.' When I need to change it up, I'll create other goals like 'protect the basement chest' or 'prevent him from leaving with that flashlight' (hi, Franklin's!), but rarely is my goal to get a 4k. I'm more likely put on Ghost Face and have a butt-dance-off.

  • @MegMain98 I'm on console, too!

Yeah, it's not necessarily about killing or escaping, it's about each side presenting an enjoyable challenge to the other. It's not fun to be steamrolled by survivors who are way out of my league, but It's not fun to completely massacre survivors, either. If I notice survivors are really struggling, I'll hold back or even start being silly to make the match more fun for everyone.

Maps have such a huge effect on a match. The other day I had The Pale Rose three times in a row. I pretty much afk'd the third match. A person can only take so much.

  • @HURRI_KAIN @thrawn3054

Adrenaline is a very powerful survivor perk.

NOED counters Adrenaline. Adrenaline does not counter NOED. NOED counters Adrenaline.

NOED allows killers to still be dangerous even after the gates are powered. An uninjured survivor sprinting towards an open exit gate feels no fear. An uninjured survivor sprinting towards an open exit gate with NOED active... that's a different story. It makes the killer a threat again. Does it suck to go down to NOED? Absolutely. But should an uninjured survivor running towards an open exit gate have a guaranteed escape every single time? Should the killer always have to feel helpless once a gate is open?

NOED counters an open exit gate.

Cleansing the NOED hex totem deactivates it. Cleansing all dull totems before the exit gates are powered stops NOED from activating in the first place. Survivors can counter NOED without needing another perk to do so. Small Game helps, but it's not necessary.

It can no longer even be said "Killers preventing survivors from doing gens counters Adrenaline." It doesn't. Adrenaline can also kick in when the killer closes the hatch. That means slugging for the 4k is now the preemptive counter to Adrenaline.

  • The thing that makes the wait times worse is that broken three-man lobbies are still a thing. I wait forever, I finally get a lobby, and no matter how long I wait it never gets a fourth survivor. I end up being forced to dump it and start again.

  • @MegMain98 "If you're not having fun, then simply don't play." Exactly. I'm trying to stick to that when I play this game. I've had matches where, as killer, I went up against survivors I really wasn't having fun against, and when I realized just how not fun it was I went afk and waited for them to leave.

It's not always even toxic survivors, necessarily. I was having a bad game where I got genrushed at The Temple of Purgation, but they three-genned themselves. I could drag the match on, but I couldn't commit to a chase because the moment I did the other survivors would pile on a gen. I got bored with it and just went off and let them finish the last gen and leave.

No matter what game someone plays, not every match will be fun. But if none of the matches are fun, it's time to take a break or try playing a different game.

  • This kind of thing is the reason I love Whispers and playing a killer who can hide his/her terror radius.

I had survivors do this to me on a killer I hadn't unlocked Whispers on, yet. Once I realized they had no intention of touching gens, I started searching around the edge of the map. I finally found one hiding between a rock and the outer wall; the other one was crouching nearby.

If survivors have no intention of touching the gens, they'll probably go to areas with no unfixed generators nearby, in order to better avoid the killer. I think they're more likely to be around the edge of the map than in the middle, but any area without an unfixed generator is worth searching. Wherever you normally wouldn't bother going as killer, that's where hiding survivors will gravitate.

Beyond that, persistence. If you really can't find them or can't keep playing, just go afk. They'll either have to disconnect themselves or finish the gens and escape. Either way, you keep your bloodpoints.

It'd be nice if the game did something if no gens were touched within a certain amount of time, but survivors would probably just get around that by tapping a gen and going back into hiding.

  • So, I was recently in a match against a Clown. I don't think two gens had been done (two suicides and a disconnect, not much I could have done in that situation), yet, so I didn't have any clue where the hatch was. I glanced around the map a bit, saw a giant purple cloud, and figured the killer was camping the hatch.

I started working on a gen.

After a while, the killer got bored and closed the hatch, starting the EGC. Even though I was directly next to a gate and able to start opening it immediately, he found me before I could finish and and sacrificed me.

If the hatch hadn't spawned, he would've been forced to search all over the map, checking each of the many remaining gens. Instead, when he got bored, he was able to force me to go to one of two spots if I wanted to attempt an escape.

Try to look at the hatch as a way for the killer to avoid being held hostage rather than as a free escape. I hate being held hostage. It's boring and frustrating. I was recently held hostage by two survivors who decided not to do gens during a match; I wish there had been something I could do in that situation other than scour the entire Red Forest map. I'm thankful that at least when it's only one survivor left there's no more being held hostage. Sometimes the last survivor gets away, but I prefer that to the time-wasting boredom of being stuck on a map forever as they hide in corners with no recourse other than disconnecting.

  • My friend and I like to play Ghost Face just to meme. I watched him have a teabag-off with a Laurie running OoO. He was inside the killer shack, she was outside of it. They just kept butt dancing at each others' auras for half the match. Quality gameplay.

  • Spirit. I love Asian horror. I love being able to go invisible, being able to scare survivors by appearing right on top of them when they're not expecting it. I like her cosmetics.

Before her, I mained Wraith. He may not be completely invisible, but he's still stealthy and I enjoy that. I also like his Hallowed Blight cosmetic.

  • I keep getting the swamp. At one point, I got The Pale Rose map three times in a row.

  • For the survivors, all they have to do is rush through gens and escape to get their Adept achievements.

For killer, you have to basically farm the survivors. It's ridiculous, and the difficulty scales disproportionately with rank, because not only are the survivors better, but the requirements for double pipping are higher. Plus, for some killers, using their ability hurts their emblem score, so killers with one-hit downs are better off just being regular M1 killers if they want to get iridescent emblems. Doesn't that kind of go against the idea of being "adept" at a specific killer? Completely foregoing their ability and using only their M1 attack? On top of that, it only takes one survivor disconnecting or suiciding to ruin the whole thing.

  • I'm missing more hits now than I was before the update. I thought it was just me suddenly potatoing, but I've seen other people make the same complaint, so I don't know. No mouse for me, I'm on console (PS4).

  • Isn't there a survivor you just kind of gravitate towards? Since all perks can be shared, a survivor is nothing more than a skin. Choosing a survivor to main is kind of like choosing an avatar: maybe you feel a connection with the one you choose, or maybe it just appeals to you aesthetically. Maybe one of the characters has an outfit that you really want to run around wearing.

When I saw the different survivors for the first time, back in Halloween 2018, Kate was my immediate favorite. I just liked the way she looked. She was the first character I P3'd.

I also love Ash, because it's Ash, but I still play as Kate more.

  • After letting all the survivors go, I got a message from one telling me I was toxic for camping the gens.

  • I usually don't wiggle when I'm the last survivor, either. I accept defeat, and I'm fine with dying and moving on to the next game. The killer usually just hooks me. Sometimes, I'm given the hatch. Once, I had a killer (Doctor) do pretty much the same thing to me that happened to you, carrying me all over the Disturbed Ward map until he found the hatch, then putting me on a hook right next to it. I didn't care that I died, but I was annoyed at how much time he wasted. I didn't message him or anything, though, because that would've given him what he wanted: a reaction.

That was back before EGC. It hasn't changed me usually not wiggling, and it's thankfully a rare event because it's still only happened to me that one time. (I'm on the PS4, too.)

The killer you faced was just a troll. Don't let it get to you.

  • This isn't necessarily a "tryhard" complaint, but I need somewhere to gripe about the way some players are acting during this event.

In one match (on Mother's Dwelling), I had a survivor suicide on their first hook. After I sacrificed a second survivor (three hookings, no tunneling), the remaining two went into hiding. They never touched a gen. At all. I finally started searching the corners of the map, and that's where I found both of them. Together. Hiding against the wall of the map, far from any gens.

If they had been hiding separately, then sure, they could've each been hoping for the hatch. But together? They were hoping I'd be forced to disconnect, meaning I'd lose out on all of my points but they'd still get the benefit of the Gateau offering I'd burned.

It's one thing to play to win, and it's another to do that.

As a matter of fact, Funworld actually makes a very similar mask for the Ghostface line called "Skele face" check it out here...http://www.trendyhalloween.com/SkeleFace-Mask-P26662.aspx?afid=5#.XQrZVvZFw2w

@TheShape78 Oh wow, that's actually kinda creepy. That'd be a cool mask for The Ghost Face.

  • I want Kate's old hair back. I use her P3 hair, and it looks so weird, both the shape/style of it and the blood. I bought her because I like the way she looks, survivors are basically just skins, and the change is unwelcome and not what I paid for.

  • There should just be an adjustment slider. The devs can choose a "lowest volume" setting that the music can go down to, because they probably don't want players to be able to completely mute the music, but if players want to make the music louder in comparison to the other in-game audio then that's their choice.

Seems like the perfect solution. Everyone's happy.

  • Yes, I've been having this issue, too. Every single match, my tier 3 BBQ only shows 3 stacks when I hook all 4 survivors. It can be very confusing. (I'm also on PS4.)

  • Teabagging is Ghostface's true special power. That Night Shroud stalking stuff is just a distraction.

I think you're slightly misunderstanding the mechanics of this game. This game's not being played by bots vs bot, but by humans. Sacrifices to escape ratios, expecially solo survivors escape ratios should ring a bell for ya. I consider myself a pretty decent player (a hundred times better as killer, but np) and on 6 games I did yesterday, 5 games had 2 sacrifices before the second gen being done (yep, matches pretty much already decided). Oh, it was at a ######### rank too.

Nah, I don't think a worse experience as a solo survivor is the answer.

I can pretty much 4k (or sometimes 3k) every game till the reds with many different killers. Spewing this "underpowered" crap doesn't work with me.

Not attacking you, personally, there are many unskilled players around here who want the game to be balanced around their lack of skill; not my case, ever.

I definitely think there's an issue, though. Some games finish way to fast in a way (genrush) and some in the other way (1-2 kill or 5-6 hooks before first gen), but I don't take this game as an ultra-competitive e-sports and Bhvr is not treating like it either. I think there's a disconnection between what some players with a competitive background wants and what this game aims to be.

Sorry for my english but I'm doing multiple things at the same time, cheers!

@Vancold If we're talking about solo survivors, that's a whole other conversation. Playing solo survivor often sucks. Solo survivors are in general weaker than the killer. SWF is stronger. The base kit for survivor needs to put all survivors, solo and SWF, on as much of an even playing field as possible. Playing solo, I have to choose: information or second chances. SWF don't have to choose, they can skip the info perks and load up on the chase-extender and second-chance perks. (That's a generalization, I know.)

So yeah, the game needs more than just a second objective for survivors, but I don't think adding to the killer's load is the answer. Bringing solo survivors up to the same level as SWF is one of the main things that needs to happen. It feels like doing that and giving survivors a second objective at the same time would be the place to start, then see how things go from there. Maybe it will turn out the game is still unbalanced and the killer needs to be slowed down as well. Maybe each individual killer just needs to be tweaked to balance things out. Who knows.

Adding a second objective without balancing killerside is pretty biased and ridicolous. Increasing the number of times survivors get hooked or giving some sort of of new ability to break chases is a fine balance tho.

@Vancold Time is already against the killer. The survivors have one objective: do gens. There are four survivors with five generators. One survivor on a gen takes 80 seconds. So each individual survivor needs approximately 100 seconds to complete their objective. The killer's objective is to sacrifice survivors. There are four survivors. Each survivor will have to be chased, hit twice, and put on a hook. The killer may have to go through that three times for each survivor.

That is not balanced. Adding a second objective for survivors may make it closer to being balanced.

    That's the dev's problem.

There are Killers that find the 2 minute end-game timer intolerable as it is. Why should survivors be expected to sit around incapable of doing anything for twice that amount, for someone else's enjoyment?

It's not scary. It's not entertaining. It's not interactive. It's literally a huge waste of time that's unfairly and randomly put upon someone. And boo hoo to your achievement or pips. Endgame is way more balanced now. Go find the damn hatch and kill the last survivor the same way everyone else does.

@Visionmaker I do think it's a problem the devs have created. It really sucks to be slugged. I like the option you mentioned, "leave your corpse bleeding on the floor." There have been times I absolutely would have used that option so I could move on to the next game.

I think that's actually a legit option the devs should add. And it's what should happen to the survivor's body if the player disconnects, anyway. It could put a slash or something over the survivor's icon to show that they left the match, that way other survivors know the player has forfeited, so don't risk your life saving him.

It's not about deserving. It's never about deserving. You keep making arguments steered toward philosophical entitlement and it's such an unhealthy and irrelevant way of viewing the game, its functions, and players.

It's about balancing an asymmetrical game. Chances of survivor drops as the game progresses and survivors are eliminated. One less player reduces chances of survival exponentially and you can see this in the old 3-player games or matches with DCs in them. At one to two survivors left, the chances are so low, hatch is needed to provide a reason to keep playing.

If you look at games in the same genre or style, none flat out eliminate survivors and prevent them from playing completely. Other games circumvent this by allowing survivors to participate while dead, giving survivors revival options, or allowing them to have a massive team. We have the hatch.

If you take away the hatch, every game that doesn't power through 5 gens will literally be reduced to the last two survivors teabagging a hook waiting to die.

With regards to BP, survivor BP gains are already lower than killers and killers benefit off of far more consistent and straight forward BP options. The hatch is insignificant.

@Visionmaker I've been thinking that that's an issue this game has. Usually, in a multi-player game like this, players aren't taken completely out of the game when they die. Like people vs zombies, the zombie kills someone, now that person is a zombie, too. They're not out of the game, just playing a different part in it. They're still participating, they're still getting points, and they can laugh while on coms with their friends, "hahaha I'm coming to eat you!"

Without that element in DbD, survivors are going to feel shafted when they're taken out of the game early. Right now, DbD definitely doesn't compensate for it, and I'm not sure if a game even can suitably compensate. What's a good way to say, "Sorry your fun was cut short, you got almost no points, you lost your item and add-ons, your offering was wasted, and you depipped"? Even people who are good at the game have bad matches where it feels like they were just unlucky. I don't think the hatch makes up for it, but you're right, it's what DbD has.

  • Being slugged for the 4k sucks, but the game has made it necessary at times. Pipping is more difficult without 4 kills. Some achievements require getting 4 kills.

I understand the desire to make sure at least one of your teammates escapes, and I understand not wanting to be on the ground for 4 minutes, but DCing is a way of giving your side an advantage by circumventing the game's mechanics. Just because it's benefiting someone else rather than yourself doesn't mean it's okay.

(I'm not talking about suiciding on the hook, which is a legitimate tactic. I'm specifically talking about disconnecting.)

I wish that wasn't the case but you're most likely right. I just saw someones profile on ps4 and it said they are a toxic Nea and to fck killer mains

@Kabu That right there is why no one should stick to playing one side exclusively: it seems to breed a lack of empathy. It's like they don't realize that without the other side playing, there is no game. A killer without survivors would be a walking simulator. Survivors without a killer would be a gen repair sim.

If someone only plays one side, they seem to think their side is the only one that can be made miserable, when the truth is that neither side has a monopoly on suffering: playing both sides can be a miserable experience, and one side antagonizing the other just leads to a vicious cycle.

I was not talking about how many bps I get. Hence my stating it's their loss. Moreso, I was talking about how few the survivors are getting then get cocky afterwards. I'm getting plenty of bps as killer. Thanks for the tips though. Being able to open the gate is great

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply you weren't getting BPs, I was just sharing my experiences so far and how I feel I get back at the cocky survivors. I'm not sure anyone has a definitive answer as to "why" the survivors act the way they do, just anecdotes about their own run-ins with such players.

One guess as to why they may be acting that way is they're gloating that they denied you points by rushing through the gens. Some players make it their goal to deny the other side enjoyment and/or points, same way some survivors DC to deny the killer a BBQ stack or some killers DC to deny survivors escaping. Going in with the mindset you stated in your original post, "It's their loss," is the exact right way to think about it.
