  • Laura from Evil Within. Nothing else would ever matter to me ever again.

(It'll never happen, though. She's not bipedal.)

  • Ash and Kate are my main survivors and the only two I've P3'd. One guy and one girl. Unless I one day somehow have all the killers P3'd, they'll probably remain the only two prestiged survivors.

  • Farming in general is not bannable.

Farming at the expense of another survivor is bannable.

The biggest issue for me with ruin is the randomness, as is the case with most hexes. I rather have Ruin be a perk that lasts for X hooks or something.

Ruin is almost mandatory against red ranks (especialy if you play "nice") and you'll be happy if it lasts longer than 1 hook against them.

That would be awesome for a slug build.

Bloodhunt is the last place I'd use spirit. Shocky boi doc prints bloodpoints even before modifiers, even if he's doing badly. They ought to be leveraging that instead.

With Distressing and Spirit's phase walk, I usually make BP with her way more quickly than I do with Doc. I'm already making Deviousness points before I even find that first survivor.

I don't see why this can't be a thing. Whether or not it is "better".

I mean it allows people to practice will lower tier perks, as opposed to going no perk completely. It also allows streamers to do challenges like such as well, if they wanted to make that a thing.

People wanting to "challenge" themselves or just prefer a different tier should be allowed to choose. It's not a bad idea. It would be a neat function of the game to have. I'm not sure how they could implement it, like..... I could foresee a lot of bugs happening.. like you have t3 perk, and want it but it screws up in game and acts like a t1 or something lol. idk. But in general it would be fun for older players to give some challenge etc.

    +Upvote. Good idea.

Yeah, that's a good one too that I'd been thinking about: for the challenge of it. Players are always looking for different ways to challenge themselves in the game, and using tier 1 versions of perks could be a good one.

Okay that seems fair enough i guess

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/140/XIJVVK6HH9SV.png

    (taken from wiki)

And that's honestly a first. I've only heard people say it makes them feel go super fast :d

Wow, I knew the difference would be small, but that's crazy.

It's probably not common, but I've seen people say increased field of view in the game gives them motion sickness.

Whether for actual preference or just to provide a challenge in gameplay, choosing a lower tier of a perk should only require a small UI change: hold down the button when hovering over an equipped perk, select a different tier.

  • @Milo said:

Okay while i understand some perks are stronger tiered 1 (for diffrent killers or just in general) why is Whispers, Distressing and M&A in your list

Whispers - if you want to use it just to figure out which exit gate a survivor went to, the bigger radius is better because you don't have to waste time getting so close. Some people don't need it as much for map awareness.

Distressing - I use it on all my killers for BP, but not all killers are better with a bigger TR. The difference is probably minimal, but it's still a difference.

M&A - in case someone wants just the TR stuff but doesn't like the bigger field of view. I've seen some people say bigger fields of view make them a bit queasy, so I thought I'd include it in the list for that reason.

  • Hex: Ruin has basically two modes: 1. god mode, where the survivors can't find the totem and get 0 gens done, and 2. useless mode, where the survivors power through it or the totem is cleansed within the first 30 seconds of the match.

That's the balance. The devs have created other perks that are attempts at more balanced, reliable game-slowers, like Corrupt Intervention. What perks you prefer as killer is entirely based on personal preference and gameplay style. What perks you find most bothersome as a survivor is going to change as you play and get more experience.

Disconnecting for the hatch is an effective way to beat killers who slug for the 4K. You need to get a new dictionary if you don't think that's a good counter. That's exactly what needs to be done in that situation. Killers who want a 4K so badly that they are willing to walk around blindly for four minutes while the game is being held hostage by an exploit are showing poor sportsmanship and don't deserve the kill. If you're complaining that only one of the survivors escaped, then get good and find the hatch before I do.

The devs don't seem to agree with you, because they've said that with dedicated servers they plan to introduce a husk mechanic: a survivor who disconnects will leave behind a husk, which can either be hooked or left to bleed out (if I'm remembering correctly). So, you'll have to find a new "good counter," because disconnecting won't work to give another survivor the hatch anymore.

Also, finding the hatch has nothing to do with 'getting good.' It's RNG; it's luck who finds it first.

  • Play Custom Matches with them. You can teach them the ropes there a lot better than you can when facing a stranger, giving them a chance to practice the specific things they need to work on. It's not like you need a full group or anything.

  • I got disconnected while I was healing another survivor. I don't know if it happened to just me or if it happened to everyone.

  • I'm getting quick matches as a solo green rank survivor on PS4.

Takes forever to try to get a match as a brown rank rank killer, I stopped trying.

  • I don't burn BPS because they're bad luck. Every time I burn one, I have the worst match. I trash them when I prestige a character, they are literally that unlucky to me.

  • Before I started equipping DS, I kept getting immediately tunneled out and had some matches where I was alive for less than a couple minutes. So, I certainly wouldn't have a more fun game.

  • @will_i_am_14_85 said:

BBQ & Chilli, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt & Distressing are the only BP perks I can think of for killer

Beast of Prey, which is better than Thrill of the Hunt imo.

  • I've missed the DS skill check the last two times I needed it. Three if you include the time I forgot about it and didn't even try to hit it.

  • As killer, I normally let people go. If they bring in BNPs and rush through the gens, though, I have to do something or risk getting little to no BP; that's often when they unintentionally start dying.

I did have one group that let someone die on their first hook. I immediately slaughtered the rest. Probably seemed a bit mean, but I was annoyed that a 3-man SWF was so willing to let someone die when they saw me go to the other side of the map.

So, it's not all killers, and it's not just killers.

  • I think it's because they can lose so much time to one person looping. It's frustrating for the killer, and the survivor is the only one they can take that frustration out on.

Personally, I just find looping boring. If a survivor goes to a second loop, I ditch. I've had survivors message me that their match was boring 'cause I didn't chase them, but whatever, not my problem. I need to pressure gens (or if the match is really unfun, go afk and get a snack); I don't have time to run in circles.

This is just ignorant when killers usually get way more BP playing over Survivors. This perk should literally just give you extra BP like the David perk for survivors saving. All he gets is Extra BP, your perk actually gives you information to then get even more BP. 🙄

I never said the auras aren't nice. They are. But I actually rarely see auras with the perk. The BP bonus is more consistently useful; the aura reading is like once every five hooks.

  • @eoryu said:

I've been switching back and forth between survivor and killer and honestly I've been seeing more killers d/c at the end to deny survivors the escape bloodpoints than I've had disconnecting survivors. On PS4 at least.

At the very end of every match, right after I escape, it tells me I've been disconnected from the host. It's a really annoying bug. I don't know if that's what you're experiencing, but like I said, it's happening every game for me. Personally, I have yet to see a killer DC on purpose at the end to try to deny BP. (PS4)

Rank 3 survivor, Killer 5... It's just not the long queueing though.

All the bugs trying to get into the lobby is what's adding to it...

For me, the game keeps crashing when I'm leveling up in the blood web. Blue screen of death.

  • Hm. I'm NA PS4 and my killer queues have been long but my survivor queues have been quick. (rank 15 killer, rank 12 survivor) Weird how it's so inconsistent for everyone.

What is mandatory about seeing auras upon hook exactly, is it really that difficult to have map awareness?

BBQ is necessary because of this game's ridiculous grind. The amount of BP rewarded per-match feels woefully inadequate without it.

  • Killer queues are too long.

As survivor, I get tunneled out first thing, so... basically like every other day. But at least I make a couple thousand BP and then can quickly move on and jump straight into another match. Unlike killer, where it's just sitting in a lobby earning nothing.

  • Is The Spirit using Stridor? A lot of Spirit players use Stridor, which counters Iron Will.

  • An event like this will often bring out extremes in players: those who want to farm so they can get points, and those who just want to make sure they deny the other side getting points. It's to be expected. At least the ones farming are demonstrating empathy and a willingness to treat the opposing side as teammates.

These events are rare and short; it'll be back to normal soon enough.

  • Chase them a lot, hit them and let them heal each other. Make sure not to hit a survivor who just got unhooked, that way the unhooker gets the safety unhook points. You can let them hit you with pallets and you can break said pallets. You can kick gens.

As killer, you're gonna get the most points by chasing, hitting, and hooking. The survivors will get points for doing gens, being chased, healing each other, unhooking, and escaping.

You also get points for using your killer's special power. Make sure to do that a lot to earn Deviousness.

Here's a list of what earns killers and survivors points (I've referred to this a lot, myself): https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Bloodpoints

  • Insidious is the one of the few perks that allows a killer with a Terror Radius to truly surprise survivors. It's a horror game; the killer surprising his victims is a pretty standard thing in horror.

Sure, some players use Insidious to camp, but even if you took Insidious away, campers would still camp. An Insidious killer camping the hook is when it becomes really important for survivors on the hook to signal that they're being camped.

Some players use Insidious just to give survivors a little scare. That's a more fun use for it.

Also, without Insidious, there'd be no Insidious Basement Bubba, doing the important work of protecting the basement chest from looters. Then where would the game be?

  • Play custom matches. You don't need a full group for it. You guys can have fun playing non-competitively in custom matches, or you can teach your less-skilled friends how to loop and what not.

  • I really like Plague's P3.

  • I get burned out pretty easily these days. I played it and had a lot of fun for a few months. During the Lunar New Year Event I started to experience burnout and I've never fully recovered from it. Sometimes I have fun in DbD, but a lot of times these days I'm forcing myself to play just so I don't completely abandon the game.

  • @Tucking_Friggered said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/90640/put-aside-differences

I'll take your deal if you refuse to loop, and instead lead a chase. I'll even avoid tunneling, camping, and 3 gens. I'll even switch targets mid chase if it makes logical sense to do so, as in they are closer. A straight up game of hide and seek with tag.

I'll also use just Distressing, Thrill of the Hunt, Beast of Prey, and BBQ&C.

That's the build I use, except instead of TotH I use Whispers. I fill up Hunting BP super quick with just Beast of Prey.

  • It's a known issue that came with the most recent hotfix. See: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/89886/release-information-3-2-1-hotfix#latest

The survivors' EGC timers and the killer's EGC timer are visually desynchronized. Until it's fixed, you can't wait until the last second to leave the match, because it may look like you have more time left than you actually do.

  • @blue4zion said:

On the patch notes for this recent one, they said there's a known issue with the collapse timer, maybe this is it? Wonder if the killer saw the timer as empty.

Two survivors died in my killer match today. They were standing pretty close to the exit gate, so I doubt they meant to die. The timer did indeed look empty to me.

  • On PS4, I've been getting survivor matches quicker and killer matches slower since the hotfix.

i play killer and farm often. the game is full of toxic people, and i want to help make people feel less stressed out. when i farm i also often do dumb stuff to hopefully get the survivors to laugh or something. but also when i farm, i often get LESS points than the survivors do. why is farming a bad thing? if you dont want to participate, then DC, or, just do gens, open the gates, then go ahead and get out with your free bloodpoints. i wont stop you, im too busy feral frenzy vaulting the same window over and over.

You feral frenzy vault the same window over and over? I feral frenzy vault the same window over and over! I don't know why, but I quite enjoy doing that. lol

(You're not alone in the way you play; I often farm and meme around as well. Good times should be had by all in this often frustrating and stressful game.)

  • I'd say neither of us is wrong.

It's unfortunate that the game doesn't reward playing smart, but it doesn't. The game was designed in such a way that playing "smart" usually isn't fun for the other side. It's not fun for killers when survivors go super-stealth and rush gens, so survivors don't get rewarded much for doing that. It's not fun for survivors when killers slug, camp, and tunnel, so killers don't get rewarded much for doing that.

A lot of the game's rewards are based on giving the other side a chance to have fun. It'd be better if the game were designed in such a way that smart gameplay is fun for the other side, but it's not, so the reward system is a band-aid fix that tries to force players to play a certain way without doing it organically in-game.

The reward system won't change unless the gameplay is dramatically changed, because the devs don't want to encourage smart gameplay: they want to encourage each side to play in a way that's fun for the other . It's common that the harder you stomp the other side, the less you're rewarded. So, players should feel free to play how they want and not feel demoralized when they get fewer points; just focus on having fun and understand that the reward system often has nothing to do with how smart you played.

  • @Marcurie said:

See my thing is, killers close the hatch, right? That's an animation that occurs while killers are still actively playing the game. When survivors escape, their game is over and the screen fades. Don't anyone bother arguing there's an animation because it really doesn't affect what survivors do next since the animation is intended to end the game.

For example: when a killer finds the hatch first and closes it an animation plays which the killer must go through (spend time). This closes the hatch, but requires time to be spent which prevents killer from patroling the areas, looking for survivors or checking exit gates, etc.

This kinda goes back to my question on hatch grabs and if they're even possible anymore as I've not had many opportunities to test it in-game, since I don't do like custom games, etc. But I've attempted it a time or two and it didn't work since I returned. I was absent a year or two from the game (and regret it, lol).

Hatch grabs were removed when the End Game Collapse was added and killers became able to close the hatch. Whoever reaches the hatch first wins.

  • I believe you.

Within the game, the lore is that the Entity needs the survivors to be hooked in order for it to be fed. If you're not hooking survivors, then you're not doing what the Entity wants, which means the Entity's going to reward you less. Hooking survivors is the killer's main goal, so that's what rewards the most points; it even says so on the loading screen.

You can play however you want, but the game rewards specific things. If you play in a way that goes against that, you can still have fun, but expect to be rewarded fewer points.

  • Usually, my reaction is, "Crap, is that the survivor who just got off the hook?" because it means I got the survivors mixed up.

Except one time when I went, "#########, how has it not been 60 seconds yet?" because I'd already hooked two other survivors since they were unhooked.

After a few days of getting tunneled out of every game within the first couple of minutes, I finally unlocked the DS teachable and started using it. So, I don't begrudge survivors bringing DS; it most likely means they're in the same boat as me, reaching the point where they've just had enough and would like to stay in the match long enough to do something.

  • Farming in general is not bannable.

This scenario is bannable: the killer farms with three survivors, the fourth doesn't want to farm, so the killer and first three survivors farm him to death or attempt to force him to participate against his will.

In other words, it's only bannable if someone is victimized.

So how is it fair for 3 rank 20's to play with someone in red ranks because their friend isn't new at the game, why do they deserve to be punished.

The three rank 20s could just play together without the red rank in order to gain some experience at their own skill level. Or they could get together in KYF where the red rank can teach them how to play.

Well I have given a killer that I can tell is having a hard time I let them get hooks free hits and what not. I understand new people on both sides and I play both side I help new survivors when I see them really falling behind but at the same point swf is just that swf no matter how much I can tell my team what to do they can't execute it not to mention I cant always take the chase over for them or do their skill checks for them for most they there to play with friend who has talked the game up to them they just want to have fun. All I was getting at is survivors takes a lot more to accomplish killer has the power roll and they will get hooks here and there and they may even kill a couple but they can get a survivor who new gets bullied camped or tunneled for more than a couple games will uninstall.

I would suggest taking new players into KYF to teach them a bit about looping, let them practice Ruin and DS skill checks.

I've played SWF a few times, and even when we got our asses stomped into the ground, it was still more fun than when I get stomped into the ground as killer, 'cause as killer I'm all alone, there's no one to chat with or relieve any of that pressure. Friends can share the weight and help each other. Meanwhile, an inexperienced killer can get run around for five gens by one experienced survivor.

Playing solo survivor sucks. Playing killer can be stressful. Playing SWF is where the game gets the most comfy.

  • @siyke26 said:

The biggest problem with the swf update is that even though you can protect your new friend it wouldn't matter due to the fact the killer would recognize this and do 1 of 2 things tunnel the person protecting to get them out of the way and then plow through the rest with little to no care about how new they are or they will ignore the protector and go for the easy kills leaving the high rank person alone for the final kill. Either way in the end new survivors coming especially the ST ones are going to dislike the game and leave.

I've seen more killers who will go easy on struggling survivors than I've seen survivors willing to go easy on struggling killers. And I'm one of those killers that'll go easy on survivors who are obviously below my skill level (which is already really low, btw).

  • Legion vaulting a pallet is really fast. Demogorgon breaking the pallet with his special attack is not. Someone did the math and it's still slower to break the pallet with the Demogorgon's special attack than it is to break it normally.

Legion's add-ons to "hit a survivor who's already in Deep Wounds state to apply a secondary effect" are terrible and need to be reworked, though.

  • Given that they messed up sensitivity on console? Well, unless they miraculously fix it before double BP...

my battle plan is to play more Catherine: Full Body.

If it weren't for sensitivity being messed up, I'd probably start prestiging Leatherface. Or maybe Freddy. Probably Leatherface, though. (If I'd bought the new DLC, I'd be prestiging Demogorgon, no contest, but it's hard to justify putting money into the game these days.)
