If you have Surge and you usually down broken survivors with her M1 rather than downing with her Corrupt Purge, then you could try that. Otherwise, Pop Goes the Weasel is good for slowing gens. If you have trouble with map awareness, I find Whispers can be a godsend for any build.

It's almost like killers get the same thing called Bloodlust, something that can be activated an unlimited time in a chase and rewards the killer for playing poorly (excluding infinites that no longer exist of course).
Bloodlust is a band-aid fix to deal with poor map design. Survivors can break line of sight or use pallets to break Bloodlust.
The game wasn't designed for chases to last as long as they do. Part of balancing the game in the future will be about shortening chases, not lengthening them.

Honest to god, if I knew which survivor brought the party streamer, I would go easy on that survivor. Almost without fail, the player I kill first who gets the least amount of bloodpoints is the dude that brought the party streamer. I feel bad about it in a way. It's not like I do it on purpose. Don't get me wrong. I'd still kill the guy who brought a streamer. But I would kill them last as a thank you for the extra bloodpoints.
I have a similar problem. When someone burns BPS, I don't do a straight-up farming match but I go in with the intent of letting everyone escape. However, the survivor who burned the BPS will often suicide on their first hook or some other stupid thing. If someone dies during the match, it's almost guaranteed to be the one who burned the offering. And I always feel really bad about it.
Trying to signal that I'm friendly with all the survivors would take too much time, but I'd try to be a little friendlier towards the one who burned BPS, attempt to ensure that they get as many points as possible.
Double-edged sword, though, because if I found out who burned the Haddonfield offering, I'd make sure to sacrifice them every time.

Every time this topic is brought up, I throw my vote in and say I whole-heartedly agree. Wiping out things that can be replaced to start from zero, that's fine. But no amount of grinding replaces the event or retired items; the whole point of prestiging is to show how much the player has grinded. If something can't be replaced by grinding, then it exists outside the scope of prestiging and shouldn't be affected.
Taking away event and retired items/offerings just seems like punishment.

In this situation, survivors should have been chased for 66-80 seconds to gain sprint burst, so if the Killer didn’t catch him during this time - its the Killer’s fault. Imo solid Killer don’t chase one Survivor for such a long time. If he can’t catch a survivor quickly - he should leave a survivor and protect gens for applying pressure.
In this scenario, the killer is inexperienced and already making mistakes. Is it really necessary to further punish killers for performing poorly?
It could also be turned around to say that the survivor is messing up, because they've been unable to juke and break chase with the killer.

Oh god, me too. She was the first character in DbD I prestiged, just so I could get that head. Not long after, they changed it, and now I never use it. I actually just spent some shards to get her brunette hair so I could have something a little different.
I want her old P3 head back so bad.

Another non-argument. We gonna argue with memes now?
I played as killer to earn Bloodpoints to P3 my survivors. You could play as survivor to earn Bloodpoints to spend on killers. Your argument is invalid.
-
The lobby resetting when it's supposedly connecting to a match is really annoying. Who knows how much time that adds to the wait, having to queue up again.
The hair glitch is weird, seeing characters suddenly go bald. I've also noticed that now Spirit's school girl hair glitches the way Kate's used to, where it bands across the screen. I've seen that while playing survivor against her.
Everything they've done to the everyone's hair is so bad.

That's horribly disappointing. Halloween should be like a month-long crazy celebration for a horror game. I love new cosmetics. And earning cosmetics, even ones I don't necessarily like, gives me a purpose.
Jeez. I really want that to not be true.

I did not notice the lost BP but there had been matches where I lost items. Escaped through the door, this glitch hit and I lost the key I had.

Apparently, these glitches have the game acting like it's opposite day.

I've noticed that when you disconnect from a match you only lose one pip instead of two. I got disconnected as a survivor due to an internet error, I came back to see that I only lost one pip. Then when I was playing killer, a survivor disconnected because I chainsawed them as Hillbilly. As I didn't want to waste my time playing a 3v1, I disconnected from the game. Again, I only lost one pip.
If this is the case I assume it's to make deranking harder. However, in my opinion by reducing the amount of pips you lose through disconnecting is removing the deterrent of disconnecting. As when I play solo survivor I already see a lot of survivors disconnecting because due to it being a killer they don't like (mostly the Spirit). I know most people don't care about rank, but losing two pips if you disconnect deterred me from disconnecting.
You're a rarity, then, I think, because a lot of survivors want to derank and so a double de-pip encouraged them to disconnect. The change was done on purpose, and I'm pretty sure that's why.
-
What the game needs is like map-specific traps or something that the killers can set up. It would give the maps more interactivity and it would give killers other ways to nab survivors than just chasing and hitting them.
Not that I actually ever see that happening. I don't. But man, just thinking about it makes me want to play Bloodrayne 2 and Deception IV, again.

In my opinion they should just add a concede button aftering being slugged for a minute that doesn't even count as DCing. I want to play the game not crawl around for 4 minutes while urbanevaddete waits for the hatch.
That's not a bad idea. There were times over the double bp weekend I would've used that so I could move on quicker. I didn't care about escaping; I just cared that those were four minutes on the ground of not earning BP.
Hear that, devs? Add that option in with the husk mechanic. It'd be much appreciated.

I hate the hatch because how many times I have put a survivor on the hook when the game is almost over and there’s always that one survivor hiding near hatch not even attempting to save their teammate just waiting for them to die so they can escape. WEAK!
F the hatch.
I actually find the hatch more annoying as survivor than as killer, usually. Yesterday, I watched a survivor pretend twice like he was going for the save only to let the person die on the hook (first time I thought it was an accident, but then it happened a second time...), and then they camped the hatch while I was on the hook. They escaped, too, which really sucked. If he had made the rescues, or not misled me so I made the rescues, then two or three of us probably would've escaped.

It's interesting how many people are saying they can't choose between the two. From the way I've heard people talk, it seemed like most people just used it for one or the other.
I get it. As killer, four perk slots never seem like enough to cover everything. So, a perk that provides only BP and no gameplay utility would... it would hurt, gameplay wise. The perk needs some secondary effect. The aura reading is not the main reason I use it, I use it for the BP, but I would certainly be unhappy if the aura reading were taken away. Suddenly I'd be using three otherwise-useless perks instead of two just to farm as killer.

Yeah, I would buy the PC version if I could carry over my account. I'm definitely not re-purchasing all that DLC. As is, with as buggy as it's been, I'm more likely to stop playing and putting money into the game altogether. I've already held back on buying the newest DLC; I bought the last few chapters on day one. The PS4 version is just... playing over the double BP weekend was frustrating. I constantly had to shut down and restart the game; I lost BP, XP, and time to all the relentless bugs. It's the least fun I've had during a double BP event so far.
-
I find Spirit most fun because of the surprise potential. Popping up and scaring survivors when they don't expect it is golden.
If I knock down multiple survivors with one chainsaw sprint from Leatherface, that is also super fun. But I'm not great with his chainsaw, so it's rare for that to happen.

First off, I think killers have a brain too, so if they saw a grass moving, I think they would realise a suriviour is there.
Secondly, spine chill is very good (if it's a sleath killer), But honestly useless against a spirit. The surivior won't know the direction of where the killer is coming from most of the time and the killer could have been looking at you before phasing. It also doesn't tell you if she is getting closer to you which could make your drop a pallet too early or vault too early.
Wow, you necro'd an old thread.
There are videos that show how to use Spine Chill for maximum effect. It's good for letting you know to let go of a generator so at worse you get hit rather than grabbed off. It can be godly for juking Spirit in chases.
@oxygen said:

She doesn't move vegetation while phasing whatsoever.
Spine Chill is a good perk though that's for sure, and same for Iron Will - which can both help against Spirit. They're not as specialized as many other potential "stealth" perks, so they retain general usefulness in pretty much any build.
You are correct, she does not move vegetation. Back when I wrote this, many players (myself included) still mistakenly believed she moved grass. It was soon proven we were wrong. This is an old thread.

But it will reduce hatch camping. The hatch will just make us killer mains facecamp more so if we got rid of the hatch then killers wont have to camp. Even though killers camp anyways it will reduce it. Killers only dc when he gets no kills. And it will make it were there is more pressure on the survivor.
It is not true that killers only DC when they get no kills. I have been stuck on the map back before the EGC when the hatch didn't spawn unless two gens were done. The last survivor refused to touch a gen. They Urban Evaded around the map, holding me hostage. It was miserable. I would rather they get the hatch and leave than force me to search every nook and cranny for god only knows how long while they avoid my terror radius.
Back before the EGC, the survivor could force the killer to DC by hiding around the map. This isn't conjecture; this did happen. I don't want to waste ungodly amounts of time over one survivor, one kill. My time is more valuable than a 4k. And I definitely don't want to have to choose between sacrificing future time or my already earned BP.
The hatch is a necessary mechanic. Taking it away doesn't put more pressure on survivors; it just gives them a way to hold the killer hostage indefinitely.
-
My final match, the killer burned a Gruesome Gateau. Did pretty well, even managed to max out Boldness being chased all over Lery's. Get to the end of the match, I open an exit gate. A survivor gets hooked. I look at the clock, there's less than 60 seconds until the event ends. I consider risking it all, but thankfully for my conscience the killer decided to come over and chase me out. I ended up getting my escape points and all the bonus BP with only seconds to spare.
There was still someone else left on the map at the time I left, who also chose not to go for the save. I felt bad about the hooked survivor... but not that bad.

They start spamming me with game invites, party invites, messages, to the point my system was starting to freeze up. So i admit i got angry and to them to beep off they reported me and i got hit with a 2 week suspension. What was the point of it.
The point of it was to get a rise out of you. That's it. They're hoping you'll do something like swear at them, just so they can report you. Next time, don't respond, just block them.

Agreeable, but I felt bad for the guy. Imagine using a BPS only to get camped and tunneled in that game. The Killer basically robbed him of both points and a potentially fun experience. In situations like that I agree with the OP. :/
My worst games happen when I burn BPS, killer or survivor, doesn't matter which. I almost never profit when I burn the things. However, when someone else burns BPS, I do profit. So, I figure it all evens out. On the rare occasions I burn BPS, I try to consider it a charity donation, going towards the pool for the poor souls who never profit when they burn their own BPS.
I had a match where the three other survivors burned BPS. They brought their A-game, med kits and meta perks, all the good stuff. I went in with Deja Vu, nothing else. You know which survivor got the most points at the end? Yeah, BPS are a curse.
-
This probably isn't what you mean, but I've had a lot of fun in the past standing in the basement as Spirit and just staring at the chest. Very often, a survivor will come down, see me standing there, and still go for the chest. I phase over and pull them right off.
It's hella amusing.

Why do you want to discuss things i'm not even talking about? I am specifically talking about BPS and how killers should not profit.
If four survivors burn BPS and get a 400% bonus, it becomes ridiculously unfair if the killer doesn't also get a bonus. You know what would happen in that situation? Killers would disconnect.
I play survivor and killer. You know who my worst enemy half the time is as survivor? My fellow survivors. I've had games where, if I could, I'd much rather share a bonus with the killer than with my "teammates."
In the end, this is just a game; you're not actually supposed to hate the player on the other end. And don't forget, you need both sides to play; if there are only survivors playing and no killers, then there's no game.

Passives are boring. Would like something a bit more like Identity V.
For example, for Claudette:
Botanist: Your have the ability to see and identify useful herbs which can be used to help heal wounds and stem bleeding.
You can see herbs on the ground that only you can spot. Picking up these herbs will be added to your inventory. You can use the herbs like you would a med-kit, each herb has 3 charges, and you can hold up to 12 charges at a time. Healing others this way increases the speed of the healing action slightly. You cannot apply herbs to yourself.
When using a med-kit with herbs in your inventory, they will instead reduce the consumption rate of the med-kit by 25% when healing others for every herb charge consumed.
This adds a little side objective for the player, and forces them to pay a little more attentions to their surroundings and is a little bit more interactive than just 'you can heal things faster'.
That's actually pretty cool. It gives the character something unique and it doesn't just happen, they have to work for it.
-
How about DS deactivates after you hook two other survivors? I'd settle for that.
-
... every time I play killer and a survivor burns BPS, they gen rush me to hell and I get almost nothing. Every time I play killer and burn BPS, I get gen rushed to hell and earn almost nothing. Every time I play survivor and burn BPS, I get slaughtered and earn almost nothing. Every time I play survivor and someone else burns BPS, we all get slaughtered and earn almost nothing.
BPS are a curse.

Really that is how a lot of things feel to survivor and it works like that. I just think it would be a bit fun for a survivor to get their own little buff even if it's with Items instead of just alone you know? It makes it more thrilling for killer and survivor unless you're one of those try hards who don't have fun with anything other than winning EVERY game. I just think it would be a fun thing to experiment with even if it's not brought into the actual game and it should be something they look into eventually esp with where they're going with killers! It would just overall be cool to experience!
I could see that.
My fun during this event has been stupid stuff. For a while, I was just running with Slippery Meat and burning a Chalk Pouch offering (no other perks, no items) and seeing if I could kobe off the hook. I managed it a few times, and got more joy from managing that than I usually do from escaping. lol. It was bad luck otherwise, though; I think I died every match in which I pulled it off, but whatever.

I've been rank 1 killer and rank 1 survivor. I think the outnumbering thing is kinda turn but also in a sense we have to be aware that there are add ons that make the numbers useless not to mention the abilities. Some abilities are just flat out nasty and amazing to use. I just think it would be fun to give survivors something more to them than just them basically being a skin. Plus I am sure there is a way to make them be able to be countered or to make it small enough to not affect original gameplay.
I dunno. To me, the perks seem like abilities. Each survivor has a personality that the perks are supposed to mesh with, so sticking with just their perks is kinda like the survivor having an ability. There are so many perks, you can create so many different tailored builds: medic, stealth ninja, sabo-wiggler. And the killer has no idea what you're going in with, they're gonna assume most survivors are running the meta. Each survivor having an ability would telegraph to the killer what kind of build they're probably running. Kinda like how seeing a Claudette signals to the killer that they've probably got Urban Evasion and Self Care. Most Neas have Balanced Landing, most Megs have Sprint Burst, most Davids have Dead Hard.
Edited to add: If BHVR did start giving the survivors their own unique abilities, they would have to be either 1. really weak, or 2. BHVR would have to readjust the perks so that the perks are really weak so certain combos of abilities and perks aren't OP. It would either add nothing to the game or it would be extremely messy.

I see your point but sometimes killer seems way to easy for me so I guess I just view endgame a little more as just bashing the last survivor. Plus there has been MANY occasions the last survivor has tried to repair or tried to do something but their teammates are the one to bring them down so I just don't see it as fair as it should be. I mostly just play for fun though and don't really try to overthink it--just feels like a pity kill on my end if that happens.
Killer being easy depends on what rank you're at, what killer you play as, etc. Survivors become more powerful the more experience and map awareness they have.
Survivors' power is the fact that they outnumber the killer, so if they don't work well as a team, then they're pretty much destined to fail. That's the way the game is designed. It sucks if you're good and your teammates are potatoes, but 1v1 a survivor is supposed to be much weaker than the killer; if they weren't, 4v1 would be grossly unfair for the killer.
-
@Cookiescrumble said:
I highly doubt that considering some of the things they put in are completely killer favored anyways. Example would be endgame. Whilst it is cool in concept it is messy in reality for if you're the last survivor. I nearly feel bad as Killer when I get put in situations like one player vs Endgame. I would rather stand off at hatch anyday due to how nasty I feel or degraded I feel when I get a kill because I can close the hatch and patrol the doors. Endgame is (95%) killer favored so how do they WANT everyone to have an equal chance? Even with some killer's abilities it just seems unfair that survivors don't get that and are just skins. JMO though.
They don't want survivors to have an equal chance during the end game if they're the last one left and the other three died. At that point, the survivors have failed their objective multiple times; any last chance at escape should be very difficult. As survivor, I know I'm usually screwed, but those times I do manage to escape are all the more thrilling and rewarding for it.
-
I haven't seen that many DCing survivors during this event. It happens, but not often. (PS4)
-
Dwight; he's so pathetic, it's adorable.
-
I like the one for Bill.
But on a serious note, I personally wouldn't like this: I already P3'd two survivors, they're who I want to keep using. If they turned out to have crap unique traits and someone else I didn't want to play as had one I'd find more useful, I'd be sorely upset/disappointed/bitter.
Edited to add: There are so many perks, you can totally customize your build to be a healer or a stealth ninja or a sabo-wiggler or whatever. And even though the killer sees your character in the lobby, they have no idea what build you're bringing to the match (unless you go with the meta, which they totally expect). Already they have some expectations, like Jakes coming in to sabo hooks. I don't really see the appeal of telegraphing your playstyle to the killer with survivors that have specific abilities.

Yeh, if people play a bit less sweaty or at least attempt to farm, I can be chill as Hell Frozen Over...but often people are uninitiated to that or jus don't care....I run my usual Builds to combat the serious matches, which this Blood Hunt was 100% of em. Since people didn't bring Streamers or Gateaus this event...I won't try to farm or play nice till the end, otherwise groups will jus rush thru the match and we all get less Points. So, gotta roll up mah Momma sleeves and give em a what for, unless it's indicated early on otherwise OR things go super sour.
I do like messing with peeps tho, initially missing hits or "losing chase". I even scared/ accidentally forced a poor Jane I was chasing (at full health) into a locker as she tried to Head On me xD" Uhh, whooops!" Was trying to jus smack her then move on.
Farming matches are boring, so I usually don't straight up farm unless there are disconnects. I go for my BBQ 4-stack and then just milk them for points. If one is playing too stealthy and not being helpful to their team, then I'll carry them over to a gen and smack it a few times, but otherwise I try to give them a bit of a challenge. Some pay attention enough to figure out what I'm doing. Over time, I developed a system: slug, but not so much as to be mean, and always have at least two survivors on their feet. The system works out pretty well at slowing the match enough to let me earn max BP.

Rofl, in one match I had a group pop into lobby, over a slow period of time and 3/4 brought Toolboxes...so I equipped Franklin's because a 10min+wait time + lobby & loading times...and y'all wanna bring that crap in? (Turned out 2 were purple and one yellow) Well, the Prestige Nea DC'd soon as they realized what had happened after I smacked her....was the most satisfying thing ever.
I only show mercy in some cases, if a bunch of people DC, or if someone farmed another I'll slug and run after the otget person and MAYBE I'll farm and/or let the last Survivor go...pending they didn't teabag and if I've gotten enough points....not a guaranteed thing...but I'm a but more merciful than most Killer players.
I always use a farming build, so unless they rush through gens, I don't need to kill them to walk away with a crapton of Bloodpoints. By milking them, I can max out three of the four categories and still let them get their escape BP. But if they rush through gens, then they're taking BP away from me, and I stop being nice. Play with me or die. Seems fair.
-
I noticed that when I was on the hook as Jeff in the basement his groans always sounded like they were coming from the left or the right of him, but never actually from where he was. It was off-putting.
I don't know if it's 'cause I was Jeff or 'cause I was in the basement or if it was just a random glitch, but it was weird.
-
The few killer matches I played, I showed mercy as long as the survivors didn't bring in a bunch of toolboxes and rush through gens. Then I started getting desperate for points, they start dying unintentionally, and once one dies I might as well sacrifice the rest, otherwise I'm showing favoritism.
-
I've been playing survivor with useless tier 1 perks to help me depip. It's not a perfect system, but it's something. I mean, if you go in and meme around and stuff, what're they gonna do, tell you "How DARE you go in and try to have fun!"
Edited to say: I don't go in and throw myself at the killer, I'm just handicapping myself. I'll try to distract the killer from my teammates, make it more likely they'll survive over me. Sometimes I still pip, which is unfortunate but at least I'm sort of hovering in the ranks rather than constantly pipping up.

Mm..The last thing that ever scared the mess outta me was that thing from PT. Really sucks that it didn’t go through tbh.
Two things that make me really sad: 1. Silent Hills got canned, and 2. I didn't have a PS4 before PT was yanked, so I'll never even get to play that. :(
-
On PS4, I'm not playing killer 'cause it takes too long to get a lobby. No matter which side I play, I never burn BPS. Every once in a while I'll forget and do it, and I always regret it; my worst matches ever happen when I burn those. The one time a killer messaged me saying "farm?" I read it too late to burn BPS. :(
Anyway, I'm just going in as survivor, trying to make as many points as possible as quickly as possible, dying, and quickly moving on to the next match. That's my strategy. I'm not wasting time trying super hard to survive, because it's just time spent stealthing around during which I'm not earning Bloodpoints.
