I get mad at the matchmaking when they put completely baby survivors in my match or baby killers with no or one perk.

And also to whoever is running No Mither. They can never run the killer, lol.

I had a match a few days ago with a couple survs (I think they were a 2 man) running No Mither and one or the other was going down literally every 15-20 seconds.

They don't play serious every match and also get stream sniped by cheaters.

Why not name someone like superalf? Oh he has 500+ win and it would burst your bubble. Sorry sorry.

Lmao people always use Supaalf as an example. Alf plays ruthlessly with Nurse and uses all her most oppressive perks. He is a veteran specialist using the most broken killer in the game.

    Alf is an anomaly.

  • Isn't fair to get mad at people people for being bad, but you sure can for quitting.

There you have it. I don't even think she's that cute (I think she looks a bit like a frog), but she makes cute sounds and has a ton of customization options, which is super appealing to new players.

NO YOU DON'T KNOW THE VARIABLES GOING IN! Maps will be RNG, SPAWNS WILL SCREW YOU OVER, TOTEM AND GEN PLACEMENT WILL SCREW YOU OVER!

You know it can happen and you're most likely expecting it to happen very frequently because the game's design and philosophy is poor but you're also judging THE PLAYERS SKILL to notice and take advantage of that but even if the other side is just BAD it doesn't mean you don't have reasons to not wanting to play this match.

And you're still giving me reason, the variables will make you want to DC BECAUSE THE VARIABLES ARE UNFAIR, THE GAME IS UNFAIR! We have enough Maps to where we don't need RNG, we can make fun Maps and let players learn the map and know how to play it instead of going: "oh no i got this here and that but if only i had this instead..."

"A tiny handful of times, either because the killer sucked, or we played out of our minds".

MOST KILLERS ABSOLUTLY SUCK. There's a very very very VERY small percentage of players that are GOOD KILLERS, by good killers i mean they are capable of playing every killer at a high level of understanding. And most of the streamers you watch are not it, not accusing anyone, just pointing out obvious facts, it's normal for the large majority of the player base to not be GOOD, that's all i'm saying. And i'm also saying the statistics prove this. IT's clear there's more Console players, it's clear there's more Casual players, IT'S NORMAL, otherwise there's no reason to explain why Sadako, even tho shes definetly better than D or C tier, is doing so well. She's doing well because A shes better than most people think, B she's affordable to play on all platforms, C she's a very rare killer in matches and most people don't expect her and D the ones that are playing Sadako are better than the normal CASUAL LEVEL. The 4 people that i know that play Sadako regularly are really good at playing her and at playing the game, i won't be wrong to think that most of her outstanding stats are influenced by these 4 people. IT makes sense, good results on a small sample will indicate high percentages of success.

Regarding the general population of DBD it's the exact same BS as in CoD Youtubers, there's such a gigantic number of CoD cheaters and FAKE good players. NADIA MUCH!? That dumb girl got exposed in MW2 Event and just like her, there's manny more. And the exact same stuff happens in DbD but DbD has a very small player base so the chances of it happening are smaller but yet there's 8x more banned people according to BHVR than there is active STEAM PLAYERS for example. So there's alot of freaking CHEATERS in DbD even for a small player base. And no the player base outside of STEAM isn't that much bigger than STEAM, obviously Playstation will have more players but not by much. The difficulty i have in finding Playstation only lobbies forced me to just make the shift to STEAM.

SO i'M RIGHT! YOU CAN WIN BUT MOST PEOPLE JUST GIVE UP. Exactly like OhTofu was complaining about.

The fact someone gives up doesnt ruin your chances to win as a SURVIVOR, it's 1v1v1v1v1, you can win alone.

YOU HAVE THE INTRO MOVIE WHERE 2 SURVIVORS SAY F U TO SOMEONE WHO GOT HOOKED AND JUST CONTINUE WORKING ON THE GEN! That's your proof that this game is SELFISH AF BUT ALSO THAT YOU DON'T NEED OTHERS IN ORDER TO WIN.

The variables will ruin your match BUT FOR SURVIVORS A DC DOES NOT RUIN YOUR MATCH BECAUSE IT'S NOT A 4V1 GAME BUT A 1V1V1V1V1 GAME WHERE YOUR WIN CONDITION IS YOUR ESCAPE NOT THE TEAM. They can DC all day and if you escape you'll just laugh at them and you'll laugh at killer cause you won the 1v1....

If the killer DC's you WIN, if a team mate DC's you can still WIN so a DC does not mean an automatic loss. WILL IT BE HARDER to do the normal objective!? Yeah obviously it will but all the variants can still work in your favor instead of being in the killers favor.

Maps are harder for killer or Survivor?

Perks are more advantageous for killer or Survivor?

How a Survivor TREATS A DC IS LAUGHABLE when their ability to win remains exactly the same. IN FACT YOU DO REMEMBER DC FOR HATCH EXISTING RIGHT!?

Answer me on this if you can, does Low Profile activate if 3 survivors DC? IF yes then there you go EASY ESCAPE. You make no Sound, NO scratchmarks, how will the killer find you? He needs to find hatch first and then you still got 90 seconds to see if you can get a key or open a gate.

How can you have the gall to say a Survivor DC'ing RUINS A MATCH!? IT makes it easier to get HATCH and you can still have the third Survivor kill themselves or DC to give you HATCH!

YOU'RE BENEFITTING FROM ME DC'ing so you get HATCH! Will YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT ME DC'ing? Well according to you you SHOULD BE COMPLAINING!

OH but it's the end of the match it doesn't matter... Yes it does matter a DC is a DC! SO if you say end of match doesnt matter than you're proving me right when i say DC's only ruin a match because you lose the numbers advantage, so when the going gets tough DC's are bad but when you benefit from it then well it's alright it was the end of the match...

    DOUBLE STANDARD MUCH!?

So please tell me how are DC penalties justified? MY ABILITY TO SURVIVE DOESN'T REQUIRE YOU OR ANYONE ELSE! MY ABILITY TO WIN AS KILLER RELIES ON EVERYTHING GOING RIGHT FOR ME.

At this rate you're gonna be banning tons of players from matchmaking, and you're ruinning the game still because of longer queues, worse match making parameters, more UNFAIR matches and more PLAYERS WILLING TO DC.

And Cheaters don't DC they force you to stay there for 2 hours or you choose to DC. SO DC penalties don't apply to cheaters at all, only to normal players. SO not letting players DC is only empowering cheaters, more people will suffer because they're either stuck there or they DC and can't play.

SO tell me exactly so is DC penalties benefitting here!? It's riddiculous that they are active when they don't benefit anyone. DC bans don't hurt cheaters, DC bans hurt matchmaking, DC bans apply wether or not you have a reason to DC, everyone gets punished when theres manny reasons to justify a DC.

YOU EVEN HAVE THE SERVERS GIVE YOU AN ERROR MESSAGE AFTER MATCHES HAVE ENDED. THE GAME ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY.

Remember Last Year when RE Chapter 1 came out!? THE GAME WAS UNPLAYABLE. SO yet again more proof the game itself is the reason alot of people DC. Shoul i be punished for the game barely working? ACCORDING TO MOST OF YOU PEOPLE YES I SHOULD BE PUNISHED WITH DC BANS BECAUSE THE GAME DOESN'T WORK.

Good lord, you sure use a lot of words and wild mental gymnastics when you could just say "I only want to play the game on my terms, and am entitled to quit without consequence if those terms aren't met". Because that is what it boils down to.

Let me rephrase since you want to be pedantic: you know what all the potential values of those variables can be.

Anyone who has played this game for long at all does.

You may face any of the killers, with any perks, on any of the maps, with potentially absurd RNG. Those are all part of the game.

If any of the potential variables is too much for you, don't queue up. If you start every game with a mindset of "If X or Y is the case, I'm gonna DC", you shouldn't be playing, because it's flat out disrespectful to everyone else in the match, and you don't get to ruin games for free.

-"Best option is to buff solo."

Only if that means buffs for the killer AND solo queue players.

It is also misleading to say that swf is small percentage. Most games played feature swf even if 1-2 people.

The old numbers had it at 50% full solo, so you may be right, but barely. And I don't think two man is all that powerful; I feel like when you go from 2 to 3 person, then to 4, you're talking large leaps in power each time.

Also, I don't think you have to buff killer that much more if you buff solo, depending on what those solo buffs are. You're never getting solo to where 3-4 person SWF is regardless of what you do, so we're not talking a huge leap here.

  • Eh, I have excellent internet and I still have this from time to time. Is it consistent for you?

  • Yours, I think. If it were the killer's, you'd see the killer icon just left of it.

  • Bear in mind that even after 6.1.0, full SWFs comprise a very small percentage of teams overall, so their much higher escape rate likely isn't moving the needle much on the overall numbers. Even 2 and 3 man teams are rarer than a 4 person solo (though I'd be interested to see how those numbers have shifted, I'd bet not as much as some might think).

I play only solo, and a lot of it, and my escape rate is probably 35% or so, and the main factor keeping it from being the 45-50% it used to be is people disconnecting or giving up. I haven't kept a log, but I'd guess if I excluded games where there was a DC/afk/suicide, my escape rate would be at least 45%.

    @TheSubstitute said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237976#Comment_3237976

15% would not be a lie. What would be happening is that your SWF raises your MMR and when you go back into solo queue you can't handle the same difficulty you could in SWF. Your teammates also affect your chances to escape and your solo queue randoms aren't as good as your SWF teammates.

Edit: Just to further clarify, high MMRs probably have a lot more SWFs than solos. The solos that are at that level are amazing enough at survivor that they can compete at a level most require a SWF to compete in.

What would show more of the advantages of SWF wouldn't be escape rate differentials in my opinion but rather the population distribution of SWFs versus solos at each MMR level.

It still wouldn't change balancing because Killers can still face SWFs and Killers can't be nerfed to benefit solos. What it would do is reinforce that solos need information buffs to bring them closer to SWF level.

For sure. Playing in SWF not only artificially boosts your MMR, but it just conditions you to that play style, and to having all the associated benefits.

So yeah, if someone plays mostly in SWF, when they do play solo it's going to feel disproportionately awful (like they've been handicapped), and their escape rate is likely to be lower than a solo only surv with a similar number of hours. There's no reason it wouldn't be.

    @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237971#Comment_3237971

At high MMR there aren't any aside from streamers who play so well they may as well not be solo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237865#Comment_3237865

And at very high mmr it's common to get 3-4 escape. Why? Because you can blast the gens and the game massively favors survivor. Also be aware that freddy got nerfed for having a 4% higher kill rate than the rest.

What this tells us is that SWF needs to be nerfed to adjust for very high MMR. So get to nerfing devs.

BHVR is never going to restrict people from playing with friends, and comms are beyond their control, so the avenues for BHVR to meaningfully nerf SWF are limited.

Best option is to buff solo.

  • Is Legion generally easy to go against? For sure.

Is Legion fun to face? Hell no.

They're a boring killer (to face) with a power just strong enough to be really annoying but too weak to be really menacing. The matches are long, and a good portion of them are spent mending. Fun to play as, but they're in the unique spot of being a killer that can easily be beaten, but few want to face.

Now all that said, there's zero excuse for DCing.

  • I haven't sat in queue for longer than 60-90 seconds on either side in a good while.

Killer is definitely quicker late at night, though.

Yeah, but I need to complete the rift :/

I mean the actual rift, not the event rift. This time I really really want the cosmetics in the premium path but rift progress is so slowly if you don´t do all the challenges for both sides. I don´t have time to play all day DBD so I try to get as many fragments as fast as I can and the easiest way are challenges (except BS challenges like that).

It's tedious, but you can absolutely finish the rift and only do one side, easily. It'll take a while longer, but you're in no danger of not getting it done.

I typically finish the rift before the fourth (and sometimes third) levels of the Tome are even available.

But you can get through it; you can find a swf to join, play a selfish endgame escape build, or just keep plugging away and it will happen eventually. I've been stuck in some vicious MMR hell ruts (I play strictly solo queue) before, but eventually you run into a bad killer and/or things just break your way.

I'm simply saying a DC doesn't ruin a match and if you think so then yes it is entitlement because you're only thinking you can only win if the advantage in numbers is benefitting you and DC's are justified because there's plenty of reasons a DC can happen, most of which come from very bad game design options. So when the reason to Dc comes from bad game design then why should players be punished for that? mMakes no sense

Nobody enjoys playing Garden of Joy, it's a bad Map. If someone were to DC because they don't want to play Garden of Joy i won't be mad about it, i'd DC too if i wouldn't be banned from finding a new match. That person decided the DC penalty was worth it for them.

I'm not gonna get dealth a ######### sandwich and eat just because... Map design needs to be better and this isn't even an opinion it's a fact!

Like i said, people who don't DC are not DC'ing because the game is fine they are not DC'ing because it will be even worse for them.

DC penalties are not good, they're a ######### sandwich that you either eat a penalty or you eat a ######### match.

All DC penalties do is Punish whoever doesn't agree with what they got WITHOUT THE REASON FOR THE DISAGREEMENT EVEN MATTERING or ACCIDENTAL DC's MATTERING EITHER: You get punished wether it's your choice or not.

We all know what the variables are going in, so if you're not willing to deal with the match conditions you are dealt, don't queue up, simple as that.

DCing, especially early, absolutely ruins a match. I have I been on a team that won a 3v1 where a teammate DC'd early? A tiny handful of times, either because the killer sucked, or we played out of our minds. But an early DC is pretty much GG or farming time.

So rather than rant about this for the 10,000th time, I'm gonna link to a clip from an OhTofu vid from the other day where he was ranting on the subject, and it kind of sums it up, imo (NSFW language):

    https://youtu.be/xZa5xvWx2PU?t=1167

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Did you know you can still win hook trading... you have 8 hook stages to go through before anyone dies that's plenty of time to finish all gens.

Plus you have perks that can make survivors stay on hook longer so if it's that common try one of these and the above trading tactic.

Cant expect to win if you're all just running in circles near the hooked player or watching them camp someone... and its really annoying being the camped player watching your team throw and do nothing, talk about making their death in vain

For sure. One of the biggest issues I see is players not knowing (or at least internalizing) how much time they have to work with. Each hook state is a minute, saves don't have to (and should not) be made immediately. Keep working on that gen, give the killer a reason (and chance) to leave.

If the killer simply won't leave, punish them for it as best you can. And the surv on the hook has to be willing to sit there and let this all play out.

Yeah, hook trades aren't ideal, but they don't have to made every 10-15 seconds.

The most common and egregious survivor throw is when people rush in for the save, and you're right, it is exasperating to watch (and hilarious when they then blame it on "camping").

I do find it strange that a character with a paragraph of a lore to their name for 5 years is carried only by their looks and cosmetics. Personally, i believe thats simply favortism from bhvr because they know it will give them more money when in actuality im sure they make most of it from license chapters and rift passes.

I just wish that other survivors get the same treatment. Heck, even felix, an introverted architect, of all ppl cosplayed. Other survivors can do the same as feng. So it concerns me that they are focusing too much on feng when other survivors need it more in order to boost their playability.

Oh, I bet they make a pretty penny on individual cosmetics. If you think about it, a rift pass costs less than your average paid outfit and you'll make that back in auric cells, in addition to a ton of other stuff. I doubt their margins on that are great.

Hell, most of the full chapter DLC is less than a single auric cell outfit, which is wild. Yet you see the these outfits all the time, so they are being bought.

And if you're looking at it from a money making standpoint, it makes the most sense to create more for your most popular characters. But again, the problem is that your most popular characters are that popular in large part because of their existing catalog of cosmetics.

If you're a new player trying to decide which character to commit to, you may well go with the less compelling option who has a ton more customization options over a more compelling character with next to none. Because in the end, people love customization.

Feng, for example, isn't the most attractive, has paper thin, bare bones lore, but on average gets more play and receives more cosmetics than anyone.

Why? She has a ton of cosmetics and makes cute noises. That's about it.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3236855#Comment_3236855

They should definitely use cosmetics as a way to expands on a characters traits and personality.

Characters like Jonah and Haddie could really use this imo since their personality feels very 1 note

I actually think Haddie has great lore and a lot of potential, as do many others (Yun-Jin, Jeff, Adam, Elodie, and Yui come immediately to mind as being criminally underserved in the cosmetics department). Heck, Jonah just recently got what I would consider to be his first good outfit, almost a year after his release.

It's a subject I 've weighed in on a lot, and I get that it's more profitable for BHVR to make cosmetics for he most played characters, but it's a totally self-propagating thing, as many of the characters are the most played because they have so many customization options.

When they release a character with 1,2, or maybe 3 skins and then ignore them for 8-12 months, you may as well have not released them at all.

I'm not saying to stop making skins for Feng, Kate, Dwight, etc., but it'll be okay if they focus on other characters for a while. And at least give each new character a decent selection at launch, and not just recolors.

  • I certainly see how it is an issue, but due to a lateral hearing loss I can't track audio for crap, and since I can't mindgame survs the way I used to before directional phasing sound was added, so dried cherry blossom is almost necessary for me to use her effectively against decent survs. Feels kinda dirty, but a necessary evil for me, unfortunately.

As a result, I just don't use her much anymore, which is a bummer.

As OP as the combo can be, I still don't think MDR/DCB Spirit is her most powerful configuration, though. Back in the day when she had collision with survs and before the prayer beads were nerfed it was worse, imo.

I do wish BHVR would add some sort of visual cues for directional sound for people with hearing issues.

  • People dodging lobbies also creates odd situations. I particularly like when I queue up and am immediately inserted into a lobby where everyone is ready to go. It's like "I'm likely to be either the best player or worst player in this match, I guess". And the matches seem to bear that out.

Not that it's necessarily indicative of skill, but another example is when I was in a lobby the other night will 3 other survs who were all P40+, and they all bailed at once and were replaced with P0s and P1s. The match was horrible.

But yeah, matchmaking in general is kind of a crapshoot, and I think it's gotten a lot worse since the 6.1.0 patch dropped. Trading queue time for accuracy, I guess.

  • @scenekiller said:

I think this is mostly a good idea, although some things being too readily available (BNPs, Judith's tombstone, etc) would be a bit cracked imo lol

As already mentioned, if you had a store were everything was readily available, you'd just have to jack up the cost rare/ultra rare items.

But I think the web is the way to go (especially since it's tied to prestige; how would that even work with a store?), it just needs to be tweaked to speed up buying process. Like being able to unlock whole lengths or stretches of the web rather one node at a time. Like you pick one note on the outer web (or anywhere), and it unlocks all the nodes along the most direct path from the starting point. and of course the entity would take the same number of nodes.

And I also think that rewards for hitting prestige markers like 25, 50, 75, 100 should come with rarity boosts.

  • @Marik1987 said:

There should be an option to show it. With that, every Player can choose for itself to let the game show it or not.

But like it would be with voice chat, anyone not having it enabled would catch hell for it. It doesn't take much imagination to see how that would go, unfortunately.

  • That would have been brutal lag, lol.

It's not so bad, though. I think the requirement was to get 6 hooks after interacting with the glyph, which isn't a terrible tall order. I've never seen it from the survivor perspective, though; have to imagine it's kinda funny.

I don't mind mismatched killers as survivor, but I do mind mismatched teammates. Getting babies on your team is a one-way ticket to a miserable match you have no hope of winning - same with serial quitters.

That is the worst, but it's also the area where being able to see MMR would lead to the most abuse, imo. People would be pointing fingers at and crapping on each other constantly, because having mismatched teammates is so common, especially in recent weeks/months.

Obviously that's matchmaking's fault, but tilted people are just gonna get vitriolic with the poor person who ended up out of their depth through no fault of the own.

I think that until matchmaking is finely tuned (not holding my breath), MMR ratings should be hidden. It would be nice if we could have them, but people suck.

  • It's fun, but like most events I wish some players would turn down the sweat. Event stuff always requires players to play inefficiently (though a bit less so in this event, actually), so it would be nice if people would relax a bit during them, but no expectations.

I generally really enjoy the events overall, really breaks up the monotony, and most of the time the prizes are good.

I also wish every surv/killer got some sort of cosmetic in each event, but I know that's a lot of work.

  • @jesterkind said:

I don't really see any reason to show it? I can't think of any other game that would show you the inner workings of its matchmaker like that, the only time you'd see a number in that general area would be in a ranked mode.

Besides, thinking about the knock-on effects that it'd have makes me shudder. "uhm actually my MMR is [x] so i know better than you" ad nauseum, eugh.

Yeah, giving people another metric to be elitist about and lord over each other isn't what we need. People do it with grade and that's irrelevant, imagine what they'd do with MMR. Especially above the soft cap, people would be harassing each other to share their MMR so they could assign blame. No thanks.

Some people say BHVR doesn't show us so we can't see that matchmaking doesn't work all that well, but the animals are already out of the metaphorical barn on that front.

  • @Biscuits said:

I play maybe 3 killer games a month. I played two games back to back a few days ago against 4 man squads. One team I was pretty positive was cheating, they all held onto Dead hard forever and as soon as I swung they would use it perfectly timed. It got to the point I was swinging and missing on purpose to force out their Es. All I said in end game chat was "sus", they proceeded to berate me and leave comments on my profile. I wish there was a feature to just turn off end game chat and also to block people from being in my games.

I play primarily on PS5 and have messaging disabled, but I know you can disable (or hide) chat on PC by clicking the little double arrow just to the right of the text bar. If I am not mistaken, it will stay hidden until you hit it again.

  • @Laluzi said:

I don't see why not. It'd at least stop the "I'm at top MMR so your opinion is wrong and you just don't understand what it's like at the top" arguments once people learn that they are not, in fact, at top MMR.

True, but if recent info is to be believed (and my experience seems to support it), once you get over the soft cap it's largely irrelevant anyway.

But yeah, lots of people would be in for a rude awakening when they saw they MMR was way lower than they thought. And for some (fewer), the reverse would be true, I think.

And semi-related, I would love to be a fly on the wall when certain streamers whose entire schtick is built around playing at "TOP MMR" found out that:

    1. There is no "top MMR" for matchmaking
    2. Even if there were, it wouldn't be them
  • Doctor is a fine choice, but I would say the best starter killer is Wraith. Doctor is pretty straight forward, but success with him depends a lot on timing and feel for the pace of looping. In my experience, a lot of beginners just mindlessly shock survs without accomplishing much.

Wraith is pretty stock standard in chase (relatively), so if you're looking to just get a feel for the essence of killer, he's a good choice. Clown would also be a decent choice actually, or any non-OP killer without a unique anti-looping power, imo.

  • I think it's in part because events bring in more occasional/casual players for a limited time, and many of them either don't know etiquette, or don't care.

I personally don't think killers are generally as BM-y as survs (or at least they have fewer BM options in game), but I have noticed an uptick in nonsense like hitting on hook during the event, as seems to be typical of events.

You should stream your match. How can we know if you're legit and not using hacks?

Here's the problem here, and with every other person who drops in and makes bold claims that strain credulity:

The only way to prove it at all would be to provide large blocks of contiguous recorded gameplay. Like a lot of it. Screen caps or small stretches of play don't mean anything. And doing that is prohibitive unless your stuff is getting saved online.

So pretty much unless they are a streamer or are willing to record and upload a ton of gameplay, anyone can claim anything and have no ready method to verify or disprove it. And people know that before making those claims.

So this will almost certainly go on the pile of wild unverifiable stuff people said, and in a while we'll see the next one.

  • The pick rate is like half (slightly less) of what it was before, this data isn't hidden.

That speaks mostly to the outrageous rate at which if was run prior to the nerf.

Nerfing medkits and then nerfing franklins is the perfect solution to this.

If you nerf medkits you won't see Franklin's nearly as much, I'd guess.

But medkits are the strongest surv item, imo. Especially now that they're cheap you're seeing more and more. I know I don't cling as tightly to my ranger and green medkits now that they're cheaper to replace; I don't feel in any danger of running out of them. I have 3-4 survs I rotate, and have anywhere from 20-50 green kits on each.

Sometimes I'll run a purple or green kit with additional chard/speed add ons and Built to Last, and waste tons of the killers time, even though I am not a great looper. Lose sight of a surv running one of those kits for even a few seconds, and they'll heal.

As a killer, that feels almost oppressive (which is why it might get you targeted as well).

  • @FentV1rus said:

Honestly, it's biggest advantage is the info it gives. The regression is good, but it is no different than old Ruin, which was arguably much more oppressive. Eruption is probably worse for solo queue, but honestly none of the gen kick perks are really terrible to go against.

Yeah, CoB isn't disproportionately strong for solo at all. But I think eruption absolutely is.

And old Ruin was the strongest of all, new or old.

While this is true, I think that's also because killer DCs are relatively rare compared to survivor DCs (which is probably due to the 4:1 ratio more than anything else.) Being stuck in a doomed match is worse than the match just ending, but the match ending the second things are going your way would be pretty awful if it was a regular ocurrence.

Very true, contrary to what some might say killer DCs are quite rare, relatively speaking.

I don't mean for this to come off as offensive. If it does, I apologize in advance. I just have a different opinion on how you said it.

To be fair these people may not "need" to talk about how great they are but that doesn't mean that some people don't. Muhammad Ali for example, some people may not have the opinion that he was the greatest of all time, as he often said, but it can't be denied that he was great at what he did. Fighting sports in general are big examples of people talking about how bad they are or what they are going to do to their opponent even though they wouldn't be where they are if they weren't great at what they do. It's often a way to psych people out as well. It happens in many other sports or anything competitive. Sometimes the person saying it may not even believe what they say but they know their opponent might.

This isn't direct towards you, just to others who may have said that the OP should stream if they are that good. I can't speak for OP and haven't seen them say this either. But some people are unable to stream due to internet limitations. Before we had a new internet company come out here, I had no issues playing games, but streaming on a 2Mbps upload speed that would kill the download speed when being used was a no go. I imagine it's that way for many others. I tried uploading a 15 minute video to Youtube once and it took many hours. I was also unable to use the internet while doing so.

I didn't say it was universal, but generally speaking as it applies to most people in most walks of life, I stand by it.

It's a fundamental difference between ego and confidence. Trying to convince yourself (often by convincing others) of your supposed prowess and simply being powerful are often (but not always) mutually exclusive.

Ego is loud and ravenous for recognition, confidence doesn't care. And loud, insecurity based brashness is often correlated with the Dunning-Kruger effect (basically self-assessment of one's ability often has a negative correlation with their actual skill).

I do agree to some degree on fighting sports, where psyching your opponent out can work. But generally speaking, brashness is a way people mask insecurity. And even the greats can be insecure, especially in sport, where the landscape is constantly changing, and people's peak of performance is typically really brief.

To that point, you'll often see fighters ramp up their cockiness as it becomes evident that their skills are eroding.

  • While certainly a factor, I don't think you can attribute all of the Onryo's success to the condemnation gimmick. I think what you're seeing with her, and with some other low/mid-tier killers with surprising kill rates, is that the few playing them are maining them. They're specialists. And anyone sinking enough time into a single killer is gonna do well with them. Particularly at top MMR, where the players are just generally really good.

That said, I don't get the Freddy thing either. He has built in slowdown and some stealth, but neither are strong at all. He has map traversal, but it's pretty meh and you always know he's coming. I actually think Freddy is the second or third worst killer in the game, and even in solo teams I am on rarely lose to him. There's just not much there to work with.

Seeing him so high on the kill rate list was pretty shocking.

They're still spoiling the game for 4 other players, so yes the penalty should treat all players equally.

I'm not certainly not advocating for removing the DC penalty in any case (I think it should be harsher, in fact), but for the sake of argument it definitely feels worse when a surv DCs because the other 4 players are left in a busted lame duck of a game, but when the killer DCs, it's just over and all remaining survs escape.

  • @HugTheHag said:

    Maybe ?

But the game is kind of buggy too. The other day I got disconnected fromm the last survivor jumping through hatch.

Yeah, lots of weird stuff going on atm, so had to pin anything down.

Have fun, I guess. I thought he was joking the whole time, but it seems like he is serious with all these posts. Maybe he is stuck somewhere in the MMR area for beginners. Otherwise, a 99% win rate is impossible. From the way he sees things, I honestly expect a awful killer, but I could be wrong.

That's the conundrum; if you're winning 99% of your games, you will advance in MMR to the point where you can't win 99% of your games anymore. Unless you are using a tiny sample size.

My guess is one of a couple things:

    1. They feel like they're winning a lot, and just throwing that number out there. To actually have a 99% win rate, you'd have have played at least 100 games and won 99 of them, in which case refer to the above
    2. They're knowingly exaggerating
    3. They're lying/trolling (if it's the latter, bravo, because look at all the convo it has spawned).

    @Lobos said:

Here we go again.. I'd love to watch you face a good squad just to see you humiliated and have to eat your own words in front of everyone. Maybe you could learn to be a bit more humble from it too.

It's just sad that you think this is cool or tough or whatever it is you're trying to do here. Even if what you're saying is true, who cares?

Congrats on being good at a video game that your opponents play just for fun and not making any money from it. Brilliant 👍

One true thing that I've learned in life is that people who are truly great at something or have some extraordinary skill don't feel the need to talk about it.

The bad a** doesn't need to talk about how bad they are or try to intimidate people. People who are brilliant don't go around telling people how clever they are. Or (to put it crudely) the person with the big ol' d doesn't go around telling people how big it is. When it comes time to use these things, they'll speak for themselves.

They know, and don't need others to recognize it, don't need that external validation.

So it's a good bet that when you have someone telling you they're great at something, it's a smokescreen for insecurity.

  • @BringShaggytoDBD said:

Someone please please please stream this. The amount of times someone challenges players on this forum to a game and nothing ever comes of it is so upsetting.

That's because it's a calculated bluff most of the time.

People in different time zones, different regions/servers, etc. make it unlikely that these will happen, or need stuff like a VPN to make work, which is a pre-made excuse for a lot of things. I would bet that like 99% (see what I did there) of callouts are bluffs.

  • It doesn't have to be regular; you only have to have a handful of 2Ks to drop your win rate from 99%. I think maybe the problem here is that you don't understand math.

Feeling like you win 99% of your games =/= actually winning 99% of your games

    If you didn't get a 4k, it wasn't a bully squad.

Most of the time you're right because they will typically keep on their schtick until they are dead without trying to escape, but if they tap out their items (toolboxes/flashlights/whatever), they sometimes actually try to escape.

    @Maelstrom808 said:

Heh, bully or sabo squads are either some of the most infuriating or hilarious experiences you can have as killer, depending on how prepared you are to deal with them. As long as the UB test doesn't go through to live, we'll have the tools to handle it in most cases.

True. My first few bully squads early on really got under my skin until I learned how to deal with them.

The most important thing is to not allow yourself to get tilted; usually they aren't doing objectives and will just run out of juice and crash like a hyperactive toddler at bedtime.

It suppose they feel like dying is a trade off for trying to torture the killer for 15 minutes.

The hilarious part comes when they are terrible at whatever tactic they are attempting to bully you with and just get flattened.

  • Turn off the penalty and half the player base become match shoppers. That won't work.

Plus much of the cheating is hard to actually and accurately identify, so people will use every little suspicion as justification to DC, accurate or not.

Every time the penalty gets disabled, we quickly see why it was implemented to begin with, sadly.

  • @Colton147147 said:

Killers disconnect much more than survivors.

Ha, that is not even remotely true. Or at least you are far, far, far more likely to have a match with s surv DC than a killer DC because there are 4 survs in every match.

I play a lot, and I see a killer DC in maybe a couple times a week on average. I've gone stretches of weeks without seeing even one. I see a surv DC in 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 matches, almost without fail.

    @Crowman said:

People DC, because they get upset that something in the game isn't going the way they want it to. It has and never will be an indicator of unbalance.

Unfortunately true. Everything could be perfectly balanced and certain people will DC every time they get frustrated or feel like they've been shown up.

It's like tunneling and camping; not matter what you do to combat it, tones of killers will still do it, because it's an issue with them. Same applies to chronic disconnectors.

    @bjorksnas said:

People dcing against killers they don't like isn't a wake up call its a cop out that they are too scared to actually play the game they signed up to play

More that they're only willing to play it on their own terms, which obviously isn't gonna work in a game like this.

    Disco Stu coming for you.

Ngl this idea sounds kinda weird. And would be kind of too similar to trickster. I doubt some hairy chested dude dressed up in bright coolours with an afro would be a particularly scary scary killer.

What you're describing would be much more 70s than 80s, but you are right that an 80s DJ would be too close to Trickster, since that (and much of Yun Jin's) aesthetic is very evocative of the 80s.

  • Yeah, I definitely have noticed it. I assume it's some conflict between the gen sounds, and the void energy sounds.

Lol, this is the same dude that complains because he wins 99% of his killer games. Now he’s complaining about getting too many event offerings. 😂 Confusion?

Hey, give the guy a break; it's hard work to keep all your made up stuff sorted out.

As for the topic: don't buy them, then. Lots of other nodes.

  • The only time I'll ever teabag at the gate is if the killer was hard tunneling or facecamping all game. And even then only occasionally, and I'm not proud of it.

Teabagging at the gate just because you can is pathetic, since there's rarely any risk. It's boundary aggression, like the little dog that barks at big dogs through the fence, but will quietly cower without that barrier.

If you must teabag, do it in chase and have the courage of your convictions.

But occasionally it does lead to moments of high comedy, like when it's against a Slinger or Wesker, or they're not as close to the exit as they thought, and end up dead.
