I just looked at the main page, and there's not a single complaint about survivors right now (apart from this thread). The majority is about whether Onryo is better now or not, and that Skully sucks.

The person I replied to wrote "Killer mains are NEVER HAPPY. They never will be. ...". Would you say thats a valuable or reasonable argument? I find such an attitude deeply troublesome. Demonizing part of the player base.

Well I mean he's not wrong and there are definitely others besides this one, I'll go on and say that survivors who don't play the other side are just as bad, anyone who isn't actively playing both sides is more than likely the ones complaining, there are complaints on both sides but killers were complaining even after they did an entire overhaul and gave a across the board buff to every killer because they were base mechanic changes everyone benefited from, people will never be happy and it's not just the killer side

Nice generalization, and nice Us vs Them.

    Let me try it myself:

I've said it a million times and I guess I have to say it a million times more: Survivor mains are NEVER HAPPY. They never will be. No matter what they get, they act like it is completely negligible and basically doesn't exist, then the goalposts move to the next thing to whine and complain about. It never ends. This is why, even though there are certain things I know Survivors need, I don't care if they ever get it really because they will STILL find something to whine about after. They refuse to believe their skills could be the problem and just blame the game and the devs.

There, works like a charm :D

Is it really a generalization whenever you look at the main gen discussion page and it's a bunch of crying about survivors majority of the time?

Killer is the most unbearable it has ever been (been playing since 2018.) Win or lose, the way the game is played has become boring and one-sided.

You didn't even play the game back then if you say that, alot of these people complaining just suck at the game and can't accept they aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread , if you played at all back then there were insta heals that picked survivors up from dying to fully healthy, sabo hooks stayed gone a long with traps leaving the killer with only the basement praying they had iron grasp, true infinites without the entity blockers, recovering exhaustion, being able to dead hard onto objects from a height and hold the game hostage, old Ds where it activated on first down, old balanced landing, old self care where you were healed in like 12 secs , etc..... If someone still has trouble after all of the above was removed it's because they're bad at the game , those of us who played during all that don't have an issue with today's DBD because it's probably the most balanced it's ever going to be right now.

I also run Kindred and have recently switched Bond for Empathy. You should give it a try. It is the best aura perk for knowing where the killer is as you see when somebody gets injured and can see if they are still in chase and where. It’s so good.

Empathy is one of the most underrated survivor perks, even in a swf if someone tries to explain where they're getting chased its going to take time and it may not be accurate but with empathy I know right where the action is

the thing is that boon:shadowstep can allow you to stealth before killer ever finds you. It also works when your healthy unlike lucky break. Lucky break has limited duration and you will run out of the duration if you stay injured. but yes. it comes down to finite range for why boon are not good.

Yea but also remember they buffed lucky break and healing another survivor recharges the timer now so you get multiple uses out of it , boons are pretty much useless now there's really no point in wasting the perk slot unless you're just bored and randomize perks

To my knowledge every tech on Blight is possible on controller/console

It's possible so I guess I worded that wrong but some of the techs even the best players are unlikely to pull them off with consistency on a controller just due to the way the powers work, I used those killers as an example because it's obvious when they're on PC with a cracked mouse it's a pretty big difference in my opinion

  • @RubberBrain said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/384253/is-console-dbd-really-that-much-worse-than-pc-for-killer

For survivor yes, for killer not really, a lot of killer things are easier on pc but still possible on console

As long as a DPI mouse is a thing there's no way a killer could do the exact same on console, the sensitivity just isnt there and it shows on killers like oni and blight because there's certain techs that aren't possible on controller, people still can get really close to achieving them but not as smooth or accurate as a mouse and keyboard

  • The main difference is higher sensitivity and having more control of your character, on console you'll never be able to react as fast as you would with a PC , console 100 percent sensitivity is like 50 on PC and even then I can still move my mouse to look or change directions faster than you could with a controller it's also another reason people prefer PC over console in shooter games like call of duty or pub g, the reaction time and the accuracy is more consistent and faster

Thought they made them able to be removed without flashlights

They did but its not near as fast you still have to crouch up to it and disarm it as to where before you could snipe it with a flashlight while running in and keep going

  • In my opinion the hag is a really good killer that is slept on a lot especially after her main weakness was removed because flashlights don't burn the traps anymore

If that's all you can comment on don't comment at all.

People can comment if they want because it's a public forum and you nor anyone else is entitled to tell them to not respond, I'm gonna go ahead and say it because no one else is but nobody is forcing anyone to play a bottom of the barrel killer that the devs have already stated were made for beginners which is your basic m1 killer, there are plenty of other killers to choose from and if you have any type real time invested in this game then expecting to take a low level killer into a high rank and win consistently is just ridiculous, You're basically mad that you can't take the worst in the whole game and wreck an experienced survivor group, Its not like every killer on the roster is basic m1 you have more killers not basic than the ones that are why limit yourself?

  • BHVR isn't afraid to buff those killers they've literally came out and said before that killers like trapper, wraith etc.. are meant for beginner players and the point is to move up from them to a different killer kind of like a stepping stone that helps you understand basic game knowledge without overwhelming you with a hard to use ability, it's designed and intended for certain killers to not be as strong just as a tool to learn, while I personally wouldn't mind seeing weaker killers buffed BHVR is doing it to try to force you into playing a variety instead of the same killer it makes sense from a business standpoint.

Better not drones wont patrol always on a gen static also drones will follow a survivor.Drines cant be close each other btw.I think you should read before giving an opinion.

If you are worried about any aspect or specifuc situation post it here and we can elaborate it more.

I did read but I was commenting about skull merchant in particular and her power the beginning was just a joke, I just dont believe that her power is very fun as a killer to play as i wish they wouldve done something different

  • They should keep the DC penalty to double dunk on those losers who quit early, the bots are better than they are and they sit in timeout I love it

  • So what you're saying is you want her to be even better at 3 genning so the server times out every game instead of just rarely? Lol all jokes aside though her power should have been something else and now it seems the devs don't know what to do about it because people paid for her, from what I can gather she's unfun to play as and against, just a fundamental design flaw.

Competitive to me means both sides trying their best to win and being as efficient as possible. With BHVR being way more consistent at balancing the game it makes me think that they care about the competitive nature the game is heading towards. Not a bad thing by the way, just different.

I suppose horror is a pretty broad umbrella in which many things fall under, and in a crossover game such as DBD it would be hard to bend each addition under the same unified theme.

That being said I feel as though I notice a shift in tone/atmosphere with the recent chapters compared to the first few. And DBD definitely needs a foundational vibe to keep it grounded and focused as a game, which I feel said foundation is being changed to something more action based as I stated in my OP.

While yes, Skerchant/Knight/Singularity are all horror in their own right, to me their art and gameplay don't really mesh well with what I interpret as the game's initial atmosphere to be. Feelings of helplessness, flight over fight, etc.

Let's take Singularity and Demogorgon for example. Both are sci-fi horror, but the Demogorgon aligns much more with the type of horror that I feel DBD used to be.

Demo doesn't talk, but instead his bestial nature is portrayed with roars/ambient gurgling/hissing that you can hear across the map. His visual design is also excellent, vaguely human shaped with perfectly unform skin until he opens his mouth which is his signature visual and attack, really sells the whole bloodthirsty alien aspect and his gameplay reflects it pretty well too. He feels like something one would want to hide from instead of trying to fight back. The Demogorgon doesn't view the survivors as anything more than something to eat, I think that's good. Granted, he's liscensed so it is admittedly a little unfair, but BVHR has been able to pull off similar characters (Dredge.)

Singularity though? I feel as though giving him a personality was a mistake that takes away from his contribution to the game's atmosphere. He taunts survivors by calling them worms and inferior lifeforms, and scolds me for bonking him on the head with a pallet. His visual design looks weakened and incomplete (which is lore-accurate,) also the fact that Gabe messed him up pretty bad makes him feel way less threatening as a killer. Combine that with the way his gameplay pans out, and he feels like something the survivors would want to fight and take down rather than run and hide from. I don't even find him vaguely creepy or unsettling, even when trying to detach my personal taste from the character.

Nicholas isn't a bad character or done poorly, but his personality and unique in-game SFX definitely do clash with the rest of the game to me, comedy horror is valid I agree, but at present he is very unique in that regard which makes him stick out way more. It also feels weird that he talks but nobody else does, I feel like voicelines are a very all or nothing type of deal so I hope they go back and retroactively spruce up some of the older characters.

There is nothing wrong with action-horror, RE 4/5 are both examples of it done very well and I feel like it will benefit the game in the long run as action-horror has a lot of flexibility. But we definitely are losing the original vibes DBD had and I think the devs should be careful because there is a very delicate balance in play.

Wesker is the killer version of Nic when it comes to voice lines but I think its cool it's nice to have something different I'm glad they did it and I hope it stays , in my opinion horror went out the window when they introduced trickster but that's ok, theyre branching out because theyve got to keep content coming and most of the iconic killers from horror movies are already here.

  • Play however makes you happy it's a game, I wouldn't care how either side feels about it they didn't buy your game.

  • Even though the grind will be tough it's well worth it to be on PC and enjoy more benefits and more games in general, it's not a waste because consoles come and go with time, instead of spending five hundred on a new console every few years you can simply upgrade your PC for cheaper and have better performance as to where in like a year the PS5 pro will be coming out and people will want those instead of a standard version even though PS5 really hasn't been out long, consoles also are more likely to have defects and stop working than PCs are. Just get familiar with how PCs are put together and dust it once a week is my advice.

"Be real about it made for this by itself isn't broken" - Yes it is. I find that survivors who become injuried are stronger with perks... how on earth should this be possible?

"it's the stacking haste thats annoying people, survivor shouldnt be able to stack past 15%" - Nothing to do with stacking, loops were designed for years/months ago for certain speeds.

" but I honestly havent had an issue with that because it requires multiple survivors off gens to pull it off properly which in turn throws the game to make it happen," - This means nothing, perhaps I have misunderstood but to get off a gen you'd have to be chased?

" if you're getting outplayed with made for this alone it's a skill issue" outplayed? Have you played high mmr without this perk? If so, imagine how it is now!

" and not only that but there are perks that can directly counter it due to the exhaustion stopping it from being active," - Lets get this right, to play against a broken perk at loops which were designed for average speed survivors ... the killer needs to use perks to cause exhaustion* (under certain circumstances)... thats your work around?

" people acting helpless on here are the same ones who have a problem with anything BHVR does it'll never change no matter what they do." - Google Huntress 110% killer on Ormond with survivors running this broken perk if you need to see helpless... no acting with Nic Cage is needed.

If you are low ranked then you only need to ask BHVR to show you it now being meta... because why would a perk that isn't broken not be meta in high tier matches?

I'm not at all low ranked, the only killers on the roster that will struggle against made for this are low tier bottom of the barrel and even then perk combos can ruin made for this and it's only 3% when I as a killer can stack haste with perks as well if I choose, you ask if forced exhaustion perks are my work around? Absolutely it is because I've been here since launch day of this game with 12,468 hours I've seen killer in a way worse place than it currently is and my build is constantly being adjusted for whatever meta survivors are running because thats smart gameplay and if more people took my approach made for this would stop being so effective and you would see it way less, but instead people want to ruin the new perks we get so they can sit here and cry about the same thing they always do whenever even after its changed, if it's not made for this it will be one of the next perks that come out its a never ending cycle of crying instead of adjusting gameplay or builds to compensate

Kinda hard to tell when the people complaining are the same ones who always complain about everything, nothing new to see here

  • Wow it's still a skin, even if you weren't playing at the time that's on you it's not everyone else's problem you want to bait people into a argument about how you think BHVR hasn't released cosmetics because of a character THEY created being gay, ya know because it makes sense to be mad at themselves for something they wanted to happen and then punish all the players they made want the character after that. 🙄

Hope is doing 99% of the heavy lifting in the end-game.

In almost every case, Hope would have won you the game.

This right here is exactly what it is, people are complaining about 3% boost whenever as a killer I have things myself I can run that give me a boost and bloodlust on top of whatever I run. They complain about hope stacking with it in the endgame even though they've already lost at that point and Hope would've carried them on its own anyway it brings me back to the people crying about adrenaline even though it happens once for 5secs , people are too proud to admit they complained all the time anyway before the perk was out. Most of these people saying this have done nothing here but complain for years anyway it's obviously skill and it'll always be the next mediocre perks fault instead of their own.

In an ideal world, perhaps, but for the world we live in, this representation matters.

Why does it matter in a horror video game where the characters are literally being murdered? I understand that in REAL life it absolutely does matter and it IS important, but not in a murder game... For example GTA is a better platform than this one for something like representation because a open world environment where you can choose whether you're good or bad and have free roam for a variety of activities in game, it makes more sense for people seeking representation in a game that mirrors a more extreme version of life with a ton of gameplay options, however why does it matter in a game where they're gonna be slaughtered and more likely to be targets of harassment? It seems like that's what people want to happen apparently because last time I checked this game only has the option of being a maniac killer or trying to survive being slaughtered by said maniac.

  • I don't believe they should because it doesn't matter in a horror video game and all it's going to do is cause arguments within the LGBT community and those who are homophobic, I guess the real question I have is why does it matter/ why is it important? It not being there isn't hurting anyone or causing anyone harassment, could you say the same if it were to go live? Given the track record of this community I'd say that's a no, I'd much rather them focus on improving the game if im being honest

No worries, didn't come off that way !

I'm just skeptical because yes, Victor exists, but his PoV isn't the greatest to have for the whole game and yes, he can't hook people. (also, Hag and Blight are nowhere near the same level of short haha !)

Now, give Chucky a horse and maybe... =P

They just need to give the twins a Tiffany and Chucky outfit, while I would like Chucky to be a killer in the game BHVR probably won't do it due to having to adjust everything in the game, for example all killers have the same hitbox size even though theyre different sizes, Chucky would be getting crazy hits that dont visually make sense unless they altered the entire hitbox mechanics to not be the same for every killer, victor is considered a secondary ability so his hitbox isnt the same as the others so because hes a killer ability it can work for him since he cant do the same things as charlotte nor does he have the same hitbox, lol chucky on a horse does sound pretty funny though

But then what about Steam, Sony and Epic

We would lose a lot more then we would gain if that were to happen

Steam wouldn't be affected kinda like how PC used to have Bill and console didn't, left for dead was a Xbox game not on PlayStation, I wouldn't expect PC to notice a difference, I can literally sign into Xbox on my PC with game pass and access all their games and even start chats with Xbox players it's basically just like owning a Xbox built in to your PC.

  • There are discord servers, there are a few ladders going on right now, also it's where the comp scene goes when they're in between tourneys to train but you have to play both sides because they both determine your rank placement on the ladder and it's more focused around chases in a 1v1 setting so it's good practice because everyone who is there is legit and you have to play both sides each time you compete in a round

I myself have tried getting into comp, and I can assure you that no game in a public match will ever come close to a competitive one. The environment and mindset is completely different.

Absolutely I agree with that, one way to also get in with those comp players is the DBD Ladder, for those of you who know about it and want in should become a friend lol everyone there is legit on both sides of the game no one sided biased players

u forget that Toolboxes and Gen Progression exist ? no Survivor who is know what he is doing sit alone on a Gen whitout a Toolbox or some Perks make Gens faster. also most time i hv Matches whit like 2 Prove Thyself and the Peek alone increase the Gen Speed alot when Survivor sitting together on 1 Gen

When all Survivors needa 90s for a Gen it would be way to easy for the Killer the Problem is that all best Gen Regression Perks got nerfed and Survivor still has very strong Toolboxes and Perks that makes Gens much faster the Event toolbox alone already give u 50% more Gen Speed whitout Addons

I disagree, bad survivors group on gens and the good ones are separate on gens not only that but if you've ever used a toolbox you know they're gone in like 10 secs they don't even last anywhere near an entire gen anymore, BNP should be removed but toolboxes themselves are even fine, also your argument about made for this isnt valid because I can run fear monger and force exhaustion where it cant be used so if those survivors are grouped up on gens and you run up on them youve taken made for this away from them so they can't rush gens and get value out of made for this with just one perk and it forces them to stay off gens if they want to have the perk and even leave gens early to try and get it back before you roll in

  • Iron will isn't great but it's ok it's not as bad as some will say, as for the comment on made for this and exhaustion not being a downside, if I ran fear monger as a killer any survivors interacting with a gen when I show up won't have made for this it will be a wasted perk slot at that point, one perk can counter it easily but yet everyone is still up in arms because they don't want to run anything that could possibly counter it , blood echo is another good one for countering made for this but just like iron will people won't choose to use it simply because they don't deem the perks as worthy literally the same issue you're describing with iron will, if more people ran perks to hard counter made for this then you would see it alot less because people get tired of not getting use of the perk, just like when iron will was changed to allow stridor to affect it

Isn't it kinda contradictory to say the 3% speedbuff doesn't matter as much for skullmerchant cause she doesn't have a chase power and then say the 3% makes a enormous difference for survivors against killers who don't have a chase power?

Not to mention that the 3% of skull merchant is bigger then survivors 3% cause of the higher base speed

Skullmerchant gets 0.138 extra meters per second while survivors 0.12

Lol THIS right here!! This just shows the entitled attitude that people have thinking the other side can't get anything new without screaming for a nerf until we're left with the same perk meta as always

  • @Crowman said:

Let's disable SWF matchmaking, disable survivor perks like Adrenaline and Made for This. Since if we want to make this "fun for everyone" we should make sure both sides don't have to face things that are unfun.

Yea because that would be a proper reaction to not getting to hold the game hostage for an hour with a killer that is terrible outside of a 3 gen situation anyway, people who play that killer know what they're doing just like the survivors who are stacking made for this with hope and other boosting perks in the endgame to be uncatchable, both will eventually get nerfed because of it, made for this probably wont get to activate in the endgame so you cant be faster than the killer by stacking haste

  • @Yamaoka said:

Perks that buff your injured state are absolutely fine as long as the effect is not anything crazy.

3% movement speed is not insane. I measured a gained distance time of less than 0.5 sec when running from one end of Midwich Elementary School all the way to the opposite wall. That's not a huge effect no matter how you put it.

These people just don't want to admit they're being outplayed and the perk is the only thing they can blame even when it only shaves off 0.5 sec not even a whole one, they're acting like people are moving at 15 percent speed faster

  • Made for this and we're gonna live forever is where it's at, I've been running this combo and it helps so much during slugging situations you both get endurance and get away, Hope is pretty good with it also in the endgame

  • Read it wrong at first lol I would probably leave them or let go on hook if it was just two left you've already lost at that point

  • Lunging makes you whiff because you're easier to 360 when holding a swing longer, if you instead close the distance a little more and tap the button you will almost always hit because its a shorter animation and the survivor cant abuse the aim dressing that way, you seem like a fairly new player from your posts ive been seeing it may benefit you to check out some guides on YouTube from some players with a little more experience

  • They really need a theater mode in this game so some people who have trouble can go back and see where they are messing up or see how they can counter something next time

Most players have very low adaptability and frequently fearmmonger when it comes to new content.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter because nobody is forced to run the perk if they don't like it so there really is no adapting so to say.

  • I feel like my killer games have been easier as of lately but it's probably because I've been playing earlier in the day instead of at night because I've had a slight change in my schedule so not as many people are playing at 6am

  • I love both of those maps as a killer lol I hate getting lerys even though that's the opposite of how some people feel, there's just too many damn windows when you face people that know how to tie areas together.

  • Remove brand new parts from the game and toolboxes would be fine , exhaustion perks don't need any more nerfs I feel they're in a good place as of now. It's hard to believe BNP is still here even though it started as the most busted add on when it would instantly pop gens , you would think by now they would realize that's probably not a good idea when you can stack four of them

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3445751#Comment_3445751

Couple of things wrong with your analogy.

First it is a debuff you can get around. penalty to gen repair does nothing if you are not working on a gen at the time. And even the biggest of genrushers can't teleport. If you activate it before finishing a gen and it takes you 15 seconds to run to the next gen you only lost 7.5 seconds gen progress. Most toolboxes save more then that. If you spend those 30 seconds unhooking a survivor you lost zero gen progress.

Second your enduring rework is not equivalent at all. For starters you don't choose when you get stunned by a pallet like you can choose when to use your toolbox. Your penalty also last forever where Scavenger last 30 seconds. It's honestly nothing alike

Regardless of all that the enduring rework was a silly example of being punished and it being called a perk and btw you don't control when you have skillchecks even with a toolbox, it's not going to change the fact that nobody will run this perk unless they're trolling it's still a dead perk on arrival when it shouldve just been left to a one time use and instead of a 30 sec debuff for endless uses, it could've took thirty secs after you hit the skill checks as a cool down to refresh the box to prevent abuse and then it would be right there with built to last around the same strength and it wouldnt feel like I'm running a perk that hurts the team especially if more than one survivor has it, just kinda lame I wish they would just stop making gen perks because they either are too strong or not worth a slot

  • It's good but only if you base your entire build around that type of play style like for example mettle of man, reactive healing, breakout, saboteur and a medkit in a swf is lethal because they're resetting health while tanking hits for each other and also getting MoM stacks while occasionally getting the wiggle out for your team

To my understanding the perk activates once you hold a depleted toolbox? Not when you make your last skillchecks.

It's just 99% your toolbox and using the last bit when you have to do anything else then working on a gen for a bit

Regardless of how you use it everytime you activate it it's still gonna be a debuff though you can't get around it, the equivalent of a perk like this would be like me saying a reworked enduring everytime you got hit with a pallet you slow down 5 percent base movement speed stackable to 5 tokens with the trade off of having max tokens and being able to walk through pallets instead of breaking them, "but you don't have to break the pallet anymore" the trade off would be so dumb there would never be a good reason to have enduring like that you would never catch anyone and the same could be said for this perk if everyone ran it you would end up stalling the game and even if a couple popped early you would buy the killer a ton of time , why debuff when you could run something else?

Also there are other Gen speed perks that would make that slowdown mean nothing.....there are a few that come to mind that would cut that slowdown in half at least.... because as far as I know we have Steak out that makes all checks auto greats then combine that with Rebecca's perk and boom your back to almost normal repair speed and you have a freash toolbox on the way

That doesn't even make sense because then I'm better off with just hyperfocus, stake out by itself with no toolbox , or using built to last one time with that combo and just focusing gens the rest of the game I'll always get gens done way faster without this perk they should've reworked the entire thing and made it have nothing to do with gens or gen speed

The fact that it's now a multi-use perk is a huge buff to the perk and the 30 seconds is easy to work around - recharge it when you're running to the next gen or off to unhook or getting in the killer's face to draw a chase.

In all, this is an overall strenthening of the perk, just blocking the truly obnoxious use of it found in the PTB

You don't choose when it recharges it automatically does at 5 skill checks and it happens repeatedly now, nobody is gonna use this perk because it's trash now anyone who thinks this perk is strong is trolling, how is debuffing yourself for multiple times a game strong? The upside of having the toolbox still isn't enough when youre constantly at a -50 repair speed being punished for hitting great skill checks because toolboxes run out in like 10-15 secs and if you debuff yourself more than once on one gen it could take almost 2 minutes to complete it, also people acting like you have a magic button at five skill checks to automatically summon a chase is hilarious you cant force any scenario during the wasted time it's extremely situational
