  • Old freddy wouldn't survive in today's game, especially with perks like for the people, buckle up, were gonna live forever etc.. every time you downed a survivor someone would have them up in secs and fully awake again restarting the sleep process and if multiple survivors are around you could wake each other up and it was faster back then , he needed the rework but they could've kept his power somewhat still similar to what it was

You dont seem to understand. Those people dont use self care at all, they just hide in the corner when injured. Yes, it would be better if they were on gens, but they are not. Healing might be a waste of time, but itsnt it still better than just hidding? Because these people do not what you want them to do, they just hide.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3632372#Comment_3632372

No, it doesnt, at least at my server. A lot of survivors refuse to heal you, because a) they consider healing (others) a waste of time, and/or b) if the killer comes to your gen and one survivor is healthy and one is injured, most go for the injured one.

Thats why bond doesnt help at all.

People hiding not doing anything has always been a thing in this game, I was referring to people trying to justify self care as a good perk, it hasn't been good since it got nerfed years ago when self care took like 12-16 secs or something like that, I'll never understand why people load up this game if they're too scared to play and just hide all game , if I ever see people not helping the whole game, i just sandbag them they can report me if they'd like

  • Because healing in general is a waste of time it's better to just sit on gens with adrenaline in your back pocket, if you've just popped a gen with someone and they want the points I'll let them heal but what's the real point in healing ? If you're good in chase you don't need to and if you're an easy two tap then what's the point if it just wastes a few more seconds compared to healing taking longer than you would get chased anyway? Either way healing really is just a waste to me unless it's a endgame situation and someone needs to be healthy for an unhook.

I only played since 2021 but i don't really understand how people can think old dbd (i am thinking 2017-2019) was a better designed game. I can understand enjoying the game more, but i can't understand thinking it was a better made game.

I wasn't playing then as i said but i have done research.

There was loads of overpowered things like 1 hook moris, decisive strike not having the deactivation conditions, object of obsession.

Map balance looked bad to me. Pallets were everywhere and there was a lot of crazy window loops. Nurse and Spirit were stronger.

The atmosphere i guess i can understand.

Having those OP things made the game more interesting in certain aspects though, games didn't last as long and you could switch killers in lobby to deal with a squad you know is gonna give you a problem. Both sides had some OP things that needed changed but there were alot of things that nobody asked for that got changed along with it that was overall unhealthy for the game and created alot of the problems were seeing now with gen times and regression, the devs can't make their mind up and keep trying to tweak it thinking it's still a good idea but at some point you have to say trying the same solution over and over again and expecting a different outcome is insanity, it was a bad idea to create stalemate scenarios over gens instead of just creating entirely new objectives that coincide with generators or escaping in general and be something different to take that time up

  • New dbd is boring , I can't stand playing more then a few matches before I switch games it doesn't matter what role I'm playing either, the devs thought matches were too short years ago and found ways to actively extend the match with regression, added gen times, secondary challenges etc.. but they didn't add anything of value for that time it's just the same old thing drug out for longer instead of adding something new to make that time consumed not feel like a snoozefest holding m1 or boring challenges you have to hinder your team to complete, I'd like to go back right before they changed movement and added the icons in game that's when it seemed to take the biggest nosedive I can think of in the game

I've had over double digit games now where my teammates completely give up on hook or go to second stage immediately and go to the next game. I just want to play the game, why is this happening??? As a solo q player I feel so incredibly helpless, like every game I load into is an automatic loss.

Some people give up just for going down first or too quick, or if they don't like the killer you play etc... those people don't see they ruin the game for everyone else and make a winnable match become unwinnable. Killer feels better because you don't have to worry about anyone else but solo survivor has always been annoying, I miss partying up with friends on this game but alot of the people I started with at the very beginning when it dropped refuse to play anymore and I have to switch games just to play with friends these days.

  • Apparently we need to start solving a captcha to start a discussion

  • Nurse is from a different Era in DBD where it was acceptable at the time because both sides had some super op stuff, at the time nurse came out I could get a survivor squad with all BNP on a toolbox and instantly pop 4 generators less than 10 secs into the match, nowadays that's impossible and survivors are nowhere near the same as they were before but nurse has also been watered down over time just not at the same level due to her whole ability itself being broken.

  • While they could add more the game is really simple enough, the problem is survivors don't want to sit on gens for an eternity and alot of people don't take this game serious , no matter how informative they may be they can't force someone to be a good teammate or not troll the entire match if they choose. The main complaints on solo q are teammates not doing gens, trolling the killer then DC on first down, giving up on first hook, and people hiding all game without helping, no matter how much information is given people have to choose to actually want to be a good teammate.

  • Honestly the gameplay itself has become very stale, I wish they would buff both sides up big time just to make it more interesting and give life to people using different builds and strategies, at this point I don't think there's anything you could combo or physically do that everyone hasn't already done a thousand times over and that's why this game needs a little more than just a meta shift it needs something bigger that makes people have to dig to find a meta all over again and bring people back who've lost interest along the way.

  • If you mean party as in a game you play with friends on the weekend to cut loose then yes it can be considered that and even the devs have labeled it that before, but as in a literal party game then no its nothing like a Mario party type game.

I honestly don't enjoy this game like I used to but I still play from time to time just feels kinda stale and none of my friends play anymore so there's rarely a reason to hop on unless I want to play a few rounds of killer.

  • Holy ######### I must be dreaming lol, it's been around 5-6 years since they said in a stream they were considering working on new modes but I'd honestly gave up on it until now thinking they threw it under the bridge with the rest of the stuff that never made it

I wish their dumb servers were able to detect speed-hacking and teleportation automatically. It's not rocket science.

For each character, if its current speed is higher than what is possible given its various states (Boon, Hit boost, ...) then flag the player.

But the servers are barely more than data brokers.

The only issue with that is they will force cheats onto content creators to get them banned, they attempted to get Otz banned in this way a year or so ago I believe he still has the video up where the hacker forced the hacks on his character and he starts freaking out

  • I've been here since the start and it will never end, I will say it comes and goes as the devs can catch up and patch the game but that's only temporary its like a never ending war back and forth, they aren't near as bad as they used to be but every now and then I still see one or two, but what's crazy to me is when once I get one it's like I get multiple hackers in the same day but then it doesn't happen for a while, I'd say it happens probably once every couple months

  • I can't wait for Made For This to be nerfed I'm tired of hearing people complain and it will be glorious when it's gone and people get cooked anyway realizing they're just bad at the game and MFT wasn't the only reason they lost.

Oh come on, I'm sure you will find a difference between purposely killing yourself on a hook from just being bad.

Yes, I can't force people to play or try, but you know what I can do? Report their bad behaviour and get them banned as it should be, for ruining my games by rage quitting.

As I was doing in ANY MOBA games, that I suppose you haven't played ever, if you keep conducting such behaviour, and make it look "Ok".

No offence, just my personal opinion.

The problem is there are perks that encourage you to attempt (slippery meat) so they can never really ban someone for trying to kobe when they have this perk and luck offerings in the game even if you aren't running its considered an intended style of play due to the fact you can create a build for it even if it is bad for your team.

Lobby shopping is a big reason for this. The MMR system is horrendous and if the first killer who usually is around the same MMR level leaves then the game just tries to fill that spot as soon as possible.

Lol what mmr system? There is none and never will be a true mmr system, regardless of what the devs say they know the lobby times will skyrocket if it were truly done correctly and that's the last thing they want, they're gonna throw you to the next opponent available regardless of hours or skill just so if there is a mismatch you can que right back up for the next match without waiting 30 minutes

As someone with 3k hours on both sides, it's a story that's told because it's true lol

I disagree and I've got 13,000 hours total and about 7,000 hours are in the killer role so it just depends on who you ask, I personally think if you feel like a party clown in 2023 it's a skill issue, at some point people have to admit they aren't the best killers in the world and climb off their high horse.

  • It's because mmr isn't real and it never will be its just a placebo because people used to complain about ranks back when that was a thing, so they claim they added mmr but in reality you just get thrown with the fastest possible match they can get you in , that's why nobody can see anyone's level they don't want you to realize you're just getting thrown around to whoever needs a killer

  • I would rather they make an idle timer where after so long without any interactions they just boot you for a bot, id much rather have a bot than people who hide and don't do gens all game, or people who afk and keep crows all match because they didn't like a killer but didn't want to DC, if you have crows for 1 minute straight it should be a insta kick from the match

The thing I'm trying to say is that... You don't need to waste perk slots if you can play around any particular playstyle.

It's similar to the guy who complaining about flashlights and people saying - "Just run lightborn". You have to learn how to counter it without perks since the game allowing you to do so.

Yea I get what you're saying, my point is more along the lines of if there's a immediate counter available there's no room to complain at all.

  • @Grigerbest said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3550700#Comment_3550700

It would be a waste to run 2 perk slots just to counter that 1 guy 2 perks. There is 3 other survivors.

Just not hook them, keep downing until they bleed out.

Well if it's only one person of course but if it's multiple survivors then the build is necessary, either way the perk combo would stop it all without the annoying slugging that same person and having to leave, either way if this person is seeing it enough they feel it's gamebreaking then they absolutely can change their perk load out to counter it whether anyone feels like it's a waste or not

  • You can run iron grasp and agitation just as easily as they can run that combo and it will counter it, or you can play a killer like PH that counters it, also if they're all playing that way you're guaranteed to win even without countering it because if they're doing nothing but staying in places to get boil over value then gens aren't getting done, like others have said its not a reportable offense and doing so could get yourself banned for false reports.

  • @MrPenguin said:

Yeah I never really understood it either. You drop the pallet when you need it. If you need it at 5 gens you need it at 5 gens.

Idk where this idea came from but I have heard it said a lot with no explanation given

It's because shack loop is one of the strongest ones on the map, if you're about to go down of course use shack pallet no matter the Gen count but the hate comes when people at full health drop the pallet without looping shack, of course you can play however you want they didn't buy your game but if another survivor is in a situation where they truly need it and it was wasted I understand why they would be frustrated over someone wasting a extremely strong pallet when you could've taken a hit and w key to safety easily and still had a strong loop there

  • @Crowman said:

If you find yourself not enjoying DBD, you can just stop playing and go enjoy other games. I'm not sure why people need DBD to die in order for them to stop playing.

Lol right? Also it's totally okay to play more than just dbd in your life I don't understand the points of the whole "game is dying" , did it really die if it completely controlled this genre darn near a decade? I'd say even if they stopped tomorrow and announced they would leave the servers on but no new updates, the game would still have players and even then how many games can you say retained a solid player base for this long?

  • @Piruluk said:

TCM actually losing players at alarming rate.

At launch it had 17k peak players count.

Now only after a month, TCM has 5,6k peak players count, and it can go below 3k at certain times.

The biggest killer was that they disabled crossplay, and the game has 0 security, so any cheating is possible, devs don't have any server validation/check implemented

Texas chainsaw has over 3 million players across all platforms and the issues with steam not showing how many pc players there actually are because the game is free on gamepass, why pay 40 on steam when it comes free through the Microsoft game pass ? Steam was doomed to fail on the tcm player base out the gates because of that but dbd started only on steam and didn't come to gamepass until years later so only newer players have it on gamepass free, but steam charts aren't anything special to go by because they aren't a accurate reflection

  • You shouldn't let any of that bother you, not saying it's right but since the dawn of multi-player games people have found ways to be toxic just for the laughs of hearing other people upset, old call of duty lobbies instantly come to mind, while I don't think it's right to be toxic without a cause I think that if you find the humor in it and find ways to make yourself laugh at the situation it doesn't matter what's happening in the game, not only that but it pisses those people off twice as bad in the endgame chat when you're laughing it off instead of raging out like they want , basically they yearn for the salty reaction back and if they don't make you DC or be derogatory to them it makes them uninterested in dealing with you all together

  • There's nothing wrong with not being good yet you have to remember a ton of people have thousands of hours more experience because the game has been out for so long, one important thing is learning the proper way to run a tile and use check spots in chase, you'd be surprised how many survivors still don't know how to properly run tiles and use check spots, at the end of the day though there's nothing wrong with being bad at the game as long as you're having fun thats what counts

  • This game won't be dead until you can't play it anymore, if you're going off player count this game has been dying since a few months from the original resident evil chapter with nemesis, the all time peak on steam was 105,000 and now we're around 30,000 and we've lost players even after a major license back to back with nic cage and alien, the game is still playable though and as long as the servers stay on the game is technically alive, but even if dbd were to shut down tomorrow did it really die whenever it controlled an entire genre for nearly a decade? I would say it ran its course as a solid game instead of died

  • This community has always had a bad reputation for people having big egos and just being downright ######### in general, I've had players who I've killed in dbd see me on other games and decide to exact revenge because I played nurse against them , didn't even be toxic or rude to these people and they still were so petty they remembered my name and decided to throw a completely different game trying to attack me on their own team and everything, that last part pretty much sums up this community in a nutshell, their egos are so big they have to exact revenge away from dbd just so they can feel like they didn't lose.

Thanks, I was gonna try Chainsaw Massacre for the first time as it seems a lot of people are enjoying it!

and I'm probably gonna come back as soon as things get fixed as I really love dbd since it has a lot of my favorite killers in-game

but it sucks that they're releasing heavy survivor nerfs as I know I'm not the best player because I struggle in doing big brain gameplay or loops but I guess when they released the fix for fast vault it felt proper and good because before I sucked at doing fast vaults at windows because killers hit me even after I exited the window fully but having that window fix made it easier for me to actually do better loops but now I can't even attempt to jump out of a window without getting hit or downed

TCM is a excellent game, about everyone I played dbd with are on there now i highly recommend it, I'm the only one in my group still bouncing back and forth between games and I only play killer on dbd now because solo is annoying as to where TCM you can just laugh at them for dying early and still end up clutching a escape even if you're all alone because there are so many different ways to escape and not only that but partying up in a 3 man killer group is also fun

  • @Crowman said:

It's because the people who complain about a killer being too strong are often the people who don't actually want to try to learn how to play against them.

The people who complain in general just aren't good it doesn't matter what role, idk what it is about this game and people thinking they're the best to ever do it, I got a 3k against a survivor group don't know if they were friends or not but in the endgame chat I'm getting told to play a non broken killer and one survivor a actually claimed he was the greatest survivor in the whole game in the current meta , I unfortunately had to inform him that wasn't possible because he just died to someone who's not near the best playing a new killer

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Killer queues are instant, my survivor queues aren’t. I’m guessing the devs hope Xenomorph will address this issue automatically.

It will only be a bandaid fix until the new chapter hype wears off, BHVR needs to step it up with some good events, chapters, and changes to end the year strong with some decent numbers, they'll be able to pull it off but BHVR has a bad habit of shooting themselves in the foot also so idk what to expect really

  • I have mine on the default settings just because that's what I'm used to, I recommend trying some bot matches or have a friend go into a kyf with you so you can practice running around things and adjusting your camera mid chase, the hardest thing I've heard from a few people who made the switch is looking behind them while running or using check spots while in chase and adjusting the camera without making their character all over the place, if for some reason it just isn't working the way you like you can always plug up a Xbox or Ps controller to your PC just for playability and then practice KB n M on the side or find a different run button that's easier for you to use

The fact that this killer got greenlighted from concept phase, to early build and release is what I don't get.

I mean, when the PTB opened. First thing on the PTB feedback forum was, that she's going to be a 3 gen killer. Everyone could see that. So shes clearly intended to be played like that.

When the devs aim to get away from 3 gens...

What's bad is the whole community voiced they weren't happy with the playstyle for either role because she is a terrible design and the devs took all the feedback and STILL released her in that state, it's hard for them to argue they take all feedback into consideration after allowing something like this to happen

Back in 2017 trapper could place traps right under hooks so as soon as they got saved they got trapped

Yea but you could also Sabo all those traps back then and they didn't respawn along with the hooks, hed be stuck as a m1 killer with no power and he'd be forced to have iron grasp and agitation to get you to the basement from anywhere on the map

  • As a player whos been here from day one I know exactly where they've went wrong and I'll gladly explain my stance, first off DBD is still a great game and that's why we're all still here after all these years, BUT this game could've been so much more and when the devs deviated from making new game modes and secondary objectives they basically doubled down on the cat mouse looping instead and in turn shrunk all the maps down and instead of adding more to the game to make it better for both sides they settled on the cat mouse looping game and got into a situation where certain maps can feel too survivor sided and certain killer powers feel like they take zero braincells to play as, ALL of this points back to them doubling down on this small sandbox style instead of expanding and giving killers insanely cool extra abilities with bigger maps or different objectives for other ways to survive or having more ways to fight back as survivor and now this game is dull compared to the potential it had and is a hold m1 and W simulator while running in circles , instead of a horror experience we get a see who can humiliate the other side experience for some laughs.

I don't really any likes or dislikes on either game especially TCM since I don't have it. I thought about getting it but $40 is a lot and I'm not 100% I enjoy it. Family looks fun but I hear it's not solo friendly and I'm not a fan of talking to strangers(social anxiety sucks). My friends are not into games like DBD and this is main reason I play killer in DBD. Victim doesn't look super interesting to me either even though it is solo friendly. Either games have their ups and downs. I may grab TCM on a sale if it still alive by then

If you're on PC or Xbox it's on gamepass which comes with hundreds of other games for only like 10 bucks a month it's pretty solid considering TCM dropped on there pretty much for free on day one that's how the player base has grown so fast

  • I honestly like both games but I feel like chainsaw massacre was done better and has more potential in the future the sky is the limit right now with over 1 million players already across all platforms, that being said I laugh at people calling it a DBD killer I mean it's already been out for 8 years pretty much so it's ran its course regardless if the servers shut down tomorrow they held an entire genre of gaming for nearly a decade and I'll always have love for this game no matter what happens or I wouldn't have invested 13,000 hours in it.

  • @GannTM said:

Jesus Christ what is the point of these posts? Like ok, you quit DBD, good for you. You don’t need to announce it.

We all know it'll last probably a week until alien comes out and they'll be right back lol

  • Who cares if they say bye? Let them come here and say it and be gone, everyone knows they'll eventually pick it back up at some point friends will spam you to play DBD even if you quit, people responding feeds it all, if it were ignored all together it wouldn't have any effect, to me its no different than the people who complain 24/7 on here about every little thing but still for some reason play anyway even though in their words the game is awful and unbearable

  • That's one thing I'll agree with, DBD had a whole lot of potential but they ended up shrinking the maps and never added real secondary objectives or other ways of escaping, Texas chainsaw is a amazing game but there's nothing wrong with having DBD on the side when you want something more fast pace and in your face occasionally, TCM games can last an eternity if you make it outside and the killers do a good job of defending certain objectives or areas , or if the survivors decide stealth is the only thing they have to not die and nobody is playing the cook or feeding grandpa blood

  • For survivors: Kindred and Guardian , I say guardian because it discourages tunneling and gives recently unhooked survivors a chance to make distance in the event the killer immediately comes back

For killers: Corrupt Intervention and BBQ, I said BBQ because the killer should be naturally rewarded with information if the objective is being progressed, also it encourages killers to actively try and pressure gens and to leave the hooked survivor, sure some people may just stick around the hook anyway due to not being confident enough to leave but having that information could help someone break that habit and they can run other perks that better synergize with their style

  • I would much rather have made for this than old dead hard because that was essentially a immediate reset of the chase, made for this really isn't problematic unless you're stacking haste, haste should never be able to stack beyond 9% in my opinion because ranged killers are 110 so anything thats equal or more than the killer shouldn't happen in the first place, i do believe a ton of people are overreacting though made for this truly isnt that strong and chances are you wouldve gotten looped anyway because bloodlust is more than 3% and there are perks that slow survivors down, you could be running or perks that force exhaustion and make the perk useless, my squad beat a wesker last night he only got one hook and we all were running quick gambit just messing around and without checking in the endgame the first thing he complained about was made for this even though nobody had it lmao when we informed him we werent running it he didnt respond , people who complain about made for this complain alot anyway about everything is what ive come to learn and if it werent made for this it would be a different perk being discussed because theres always something to be upset about

  • Everyone is going to be different because some people will naturally be better at achieving what you call the full potential while you struggle with it and you can be better at killers they may struggle with, for example I don't do well with Leatherface but I have a really easy time with billy even though you have him as hard, in fact I had quite a few to drink and ran over some survivors just last night copycatting rapidmain with racing wheel billy lmao it was fun for me at least

We're grooming survivors to be toxic to their own teammates. Rewarding survivors for beingtoxic to other survivors is how we find joy; if we're not slugging, face-camping or hitting you on hook.

No see this right here is how you end up creating bully squads, they deal with all of the above and then eventually only play with a swf and grief the killer even though the real culprit is long gone, it's a vicious cycle from both sides the same could be said that newbie killers getting thrown into unfair matches creates a toxic killer when they get their first true bully squad and then the next survivor group that had nothing to do with it has to pay for it

Your timeline is off; the entity blocker existed when I started in 2018. It’s funny that you’re trying to tell me what I find enjoyable. Back then, gen regression actually existed and I was able to go for plenty of chases. Now that regression is gutted, I pretty much have to choose an area of the map to defend and hold that defense once I get a hook. Again, I still win the vast majority of my matches, but the way you have to play is extremely dull. It seems like the devs are trying to make the game less perk-based, which works for survivor but exposes the flawed base game for killer.

Well I've been here since the beginning is why I have my opinion i went through hell playing killer in 2016-2017, not trying to tell you what you believe is fun but if you had dealt with all of that above at once you probably would hold a different opinion about the state for killers, this game almost died during that time period I'm referring to, it dwindled to 8,000 active players or something like that at one point before the game finally took off

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 60
