  • Try this.

I went up against a 4 man SWF.

Had 5 special hooks. Slugged one guy to stop him doing gens just so I could get the last guy to special hook. Didnt care if other got hatch, just wanted the hook.

They realized this and kept running to areas where i couldnt carry them to special hook even with agitation.

Eventually i carry one almost there, he breaks out. I down him near enough the hook finally...

He rage quits just so i wont get the special hook, and because his mate is near enough the hatch before i could get to him in time.

All 4 get verbally abusive post game, trying to claim "if one gets hatch the team wins ez" and the usual insults.

Reported but no doubt nothing will change.

Great game you got there BHVR, great game.

Now its another 20 min queue just to get the final 1/6th of my vial.

How about "don't be the first on the hook"?
Do not jump the very first gen you see.
Do not run towards the nearest objective.
Try to play stealthy until you know who the killer is and actually where?
Wait until he found someone else first and than take action.

I know, it's hard, because survivor love their gen rush and rather complain than adept, becasue that worked for 2 years now and Devs always gave what you asked for.

    God why so bitter?

Why does it always boil down to "get gud"

Sometimes ######### just happens. There are times when you will be spotted even if you try to be stealthy. You can't win EVERY game.

######### lol at these killers whose excuse is always "dont be caught". Well fine, next time you cry about gen rush the answer will be "dont get gen rushed".
  • I'm tempted to change my answer to Trapper you know.

It's not that I don't like his abilities, its just that trappers tunnel like mad.

You go for the unhook and you can hear his heartbeat constantly. Or it goes away for 5 seconds then comes back.

Every single trapper ever just circles the hook at 20-40meters just waiting for the unhook so they can come running back to attack the injured guy.

It's so boring. So predictable. I groan everytime I see he's the Killer because you know exactly how the match will play out.

I used to play Trapper a lot and I never had to tunnel. Was too busy learning where to trap and chasing people into loops I had trapped.
  • Doctor is easy when it comes to chases though. Whenever I play survivor against a Doctor we usually win.
  • It's really bad tonight. More so than usual. Hoping they just allow us to use more survivor vials. At this rate I'd rather get 20 more survivor vials than 10 killer.

[EDIT: Forgot to mention. Checked them out - all 4 are friends]

    Thanks for the laugh

But tbh, its your fault for going into a game like this. The devs gave you the power to lobbydodge those games until they figure out a solution.

Lobbydodging isn't an option right now when it takes 10+ mins to get a lobby.

I think survivors are aware of this. I've seen 4man SWF more kitted out morr than usual.

Why would any killer play anymore?
You should be done with your vials already as killer main. Either you do survivor vials now or you maxed both already and are playing a different game.^^

There are loads of people who aren't done with killer vials due to lobby issues.
  • One tip I forgot to add..

If you get them at a pallet that's just a little bit too safe, and you try a quick mindgame and it doesn't work, bust out a quick reload. This puts pressure on them the way they pressure killers with the self-heal. Normally they'll just stand still at the safe pallet so it gives you a nice reload without losing them.

Also reload often. I tend to reload after every hook - even if I'm at 3/4 bottles. I play it safe, better to reload in downtime than need to reload during a chase. Obviously if you run something like PGTW though hit the gen first and then reload.

  • Getting a decent game is good regardless of whether you win or die.

Losing and black pipping because your team got wiped out in record time due to running straight at the killer for instant unhooks = bad game. Or when they unhook you right in front of the killer so the killer will tunnel you and leave them alone = bad game.

I can understand people being poor at the game, they can't help that. However running behind the killer thinking they don't realize you're there and then pulling someone off the hook 2 seconds later thinking the killer won't just turn around and down them again is the kind of stupidity or blatant toxicity I can't deal with.

This whole idea of noble killers doesn't exist either. As much as they pretend online they punish survivors who do this in the game I've never seen one not take advantage of an easy kill.
  • Eh it's good but not that good on some killers. Sometimes by the time you get there they've moved, but they've seen your 8ft tall killer coming from a mile off so they go full stealth too. It works best on someone like Hillbilly who has great speed.

I'd say its better than bitter murmur or rancor for tracking because you choose when it goes off. Bitter murmur might go off when you're already in a chase whereas BBQ will reveal auras at a time when you're free after hooking the last survivor.

Overrall I prefer whispers once you get used to it because it's always on.
  • Who was saying that? The rank 2/3 or the rank 10/13?

And yes these people really do ruin the game. Its why killers stop giving a damn and just play dirty. With survivors like this they'll get abusive if they lose but also abusive if they win.
  • A great combo is one that extends the duration of intoxication and the one that gives an extra hindered penalty. This really slows them down.

As for tips....learn to pace your bottles. There's nothing that bugs me watching streamers play him and spammig bottles everywhere and then trying to chase with none left lol.

Hold it in. Have one ready to throw when you're on the hunt. It charges in power and will flash when fully charged. This means if you see someone far off on a gen you can start the chase with a bottle hitting them. Also aim your shots well. There's no rush, so make every shot count.

If you're in a wide open area, throw the bottles just ahead of them so they'll enter the cloud and not have time to dodge. This slows them down a bit so you can catch up quicker.

If you see the survivor running towards a building, throw a bottle at the entrance. Some survivors will have second thoughts about trying to enter that building when they see the gas cloud.

If theres a rock or something the survivor is behind, throw a bottle one way and walk around the other. They either run into you or they run into the gas cloud.

Basically the main thing is learning to pace your shots. Just like the Huntress hatchets. You want them all to count. The last thing you want is to run out of them mid chase. Though you can get reload add ons so it doesn't hurt you as much.

Also if there's ever two ways around something always throw a bottle the way you're not going so that if the survivor flees they get slowed.
  • DS is broken. It's annoying, and it's completely unfair. It goes against the very nature of the game.

At most only 1 person should be able to use it if it stays. Not the obsession? Tough. Its taking 3 d-strikes that ruins games or taking an early one thus hurting your momentum.

If survivors want to avoid the hook then it should require either other survivors to bodyblock or some good flashlight timing. Allowing someone to avoid the hook on their own via a perk is unfair.
  • I'm not too keen on the whole sleep thing.

Nobody likes fighting Freddy. Here are the reasons imo

    1) He still "has" you even if you lose him in a chase. No other killer outside of Pig has this. With other killers once you lose them, your reward is you get to live. It feels rewarding losing them in a chase. With Freddy once you lose him and get to a safe distance, he can see your aura at all times. The closest killer is the pig who is coincidentally is also a pain imo. The reward for outsmarting a killer and breaking the chase should be that you get the peace of mind that you get to live.

    2) He forces you to go against your objectives. If he puts you asleep often your best course of action is to fail a skillcheck. You want to heal? Well first you have to fail that skillcheck, which also gives him a notification. Or you have to blow a gen, which sets your progress back, which goes against your very objective, and no other killer can force you to fail generators on purpose.

The alternative is to find a teammate which makes sense and is just like healing but in the world of solo survivors and when everyone is used to having self-care, having to seek someone out knowing he's probably still on his way feels like a pain in the backside.

    3) You can't hide from him. You hear his terror radius but you can't see him. You can't tell what direction the sound is coming from, what direction he's looking etc therefore stealth goes out of the window. 99% of the time when you hear him coming he's already seen you no matter how well you hide. On the flipside it's funny playing him and watching survivors urban evasion towards you thinking they're being sneaky but not realizing where you are.

I really like the stealth part of DBD and that adrenaline you get when you crawl around a rock with the killer on the other side and he only just misses seeinng you. It's so tense but so good.

For these reasons I think the whole idea of him being perfectly invisible with a non-directional audio needs to go, along with him being able to see survivor auras all the way across the map.  I do enjoy playing him from time to time for these reasons but he feels so broken and out of place in DBD in his current form. He turns the mechanics of the game on their head.

What he desperately needs is something to help him in a chase. It's all well and good being able to sneak up on them and put them asleep but once that timer begins it's a trip to pallet town and he suffers badly. Even the Wraith has a big upper hand because he can go invisible, mindgame and get a second hit - Freddy once in the dreamworld has no such tricks up his sleeve.

Your idea of fake Freddys is kind of the direction I think they should take him. Something to help him mindgame in loops.

The whole sleep thing doesn't make much sense to me either. I mean he's in the entitys realm not the real world, he shouldn't need to put them asleep to be able to get them.

Alternatively they could have him like the doctor but instead of building up madness he builds up tiredness by being in his radius. This either slows survivors down a tiny bit or slows their repair/healing speed etc though again the latter option would leave him vulnerable to loops again.
  • I get looping because it's boring as hell and survivors usually have a big ego because they know how to run in a circle, but stealthing and evading? There's nothing wrong with that. I'd rather they did that than looping.

You're [BAD WORD] kidding me. I am a Claudette main u tool. I dont farm ######### I wait for the killer to [BAD WORD] off. Why u saying all Claudettes are toxic when its just a few of them. Lots of Claudettes I've met are not toxic. And yes that includes bloody Claudettes.

Because in my experience, and in the experience of many others - the vast majority of Claudettes play like this. They are often selfish people who farm others and hide at the edge of the map for the hatch. They are always the first to leave the gens. They spend 10 minutes running around looting every chest in the game. They often try to lead the killer to other people to save themselves. In some cases rhey even purposefully bodyblock.

You might not be but it doesn't change the fact that many others are.

I mean she has that rep as being the toxic character for a reason. Squadettes exist for a reason. Also the fact that she's known as the hardest character to find goes towards their intentions of being stealthy and leaving gens to hide for the hatch.
  • Great to hear it's just a bug. I was worried it was a trade off for the healing nerf for a while.

So just some background. I'm a survivor main, yes I claudette and yes I'll lick bricks to hide sometimes! What I try to not do is but dance and taunt a killer though and I especially hate the idea of snapping off against a killer at the end of a game. If he got me, good match! HOpefully I learn and do better next time. If I got away, also good match!

Tonight I've been trying killer out and wow, I now understand what Killers mean by survivors ruin games. We're awful. I can't imagine wanting to keep playing this game as a killer. It has nothing to do with being looped or juked, I suck as a killer and expect it. What I mean is at the end in the chat, the sheer salt when someone dies or taunts, EZ you suck etc etc.

    We're just awful.

if a killer plays doctor with ultra-rare add-ons, and rude perks i will be toxic till the end when i message GG EZ

^This is why, OP. Because Survivors like him think Killers aren't allowed to use the perks and add-ons they worked for.

Lol I just had a game with a lobby full of megs and a laurie.

Knew there would be d-strikes and adrenalines.

So I figured its gonna hurt come late game, so I bring NOED. Get 3 kills, the laurie makes it out and then starts crying about me bringing NOED - even though they had 3 adrenaline and a d-strike.

I don't even care for NOED usually but if I suspect everyone is going to get an insta-heal at the end of the game then yeah damn right I'm bringing Noed to even it out.

But survivors act like only they can bring OP add ons and perks.
  • Lol Billy can be an annoying sod. He one hits you, zooms to the other end of the map, insta-downs someone else, you get unhooked and hes back on top of you in like 2 seconds.

Don't even get me started on him with tinkererer on an open level. You're sat all peaceful on a gen then all of a sudden he bursts through the door with "HERE'S BILLY!!"

One time I loaded into a two man game. I was just messing around, wasn't going to kill anyone, but someone led me there so I decided to run around and see how long it would take me to catch the guy.

The gates were powered before I downed him with NOED.
This is the problem. Some killers just can't do much at all at those loops.

Survivors are completely safe. Then they get those huge egos thinking they're untouchable but really it's just how the game is designed.

Annoying when you use a weak character "for fun" and then every survivor bolts straight for the loops as soon as they see you coming. Yawn so boring.
  • They really do need to extend it. These wait times are ridiculous.

Not to mention the fact that getting petals costs a fortune on any of your main killers. So you kind of need to level up low-level characters, which means going into games against high level 4 man SWF all armed with toolboxes and you've got a character with a few basic low level perks. Since it takes 10 mins to get a full lobby you can't afford to be picky either.
  • Doctor and Hillbilly.

One locates them, the other zooms across and downs them with chainsaw.
  • @The_Crusader said:
That said he suffers a bit at high ranks due to no map pressure. I feel clown is the kind of killer the game should be balanced around, but then it's like whats the point when you can just switch to Hillbilly, cross the map in 5 seconds and insta down people left and right.

This is honestly like 95% of the problem with Clown. You get a map like Suffocation Pit or Rotten Fields or god forbid the new map that came with the Spirit and you kinda just shrug and say "guess I won't get any sacrifices."
He's god tier on maps like The Game simply because you don't have to spend 8 hours moving between generators. Add in the fact that there are no stupid trees or cars with broken hitboxes on The Game and you can actually slow people down on that map.

I absolutely hate playing killer on the latest map. I used to think Pale Rose was bad but it can't touch the Spirit's map.

Game over if you get a few camo claudettes.
  • I use him a lot too. Loops definitely go quicker. You play any other M1 killer and they try to give you the 3 times around job, but with Clown they drop the pallet much earlier. It was weird trying to adjust to other killers after using him.

That said he suffers a bit at high ranks due to no map pressure. I feel clown is the kind of killer the game should be balanced around, but then it's like whats the point when you can just switch to Hillbilly, cross the map in 5 seconds and insta down people left and right.

@TigerKirby215 that aurea revealing add on isn't that great a lot of the times no, but it's very fun on levels where they have them solid wall jungle gyms. You can see the survivor but they can't see you. I've got the jump on a few because of it. Stops them from mindgaming you.
  • Lmao.

"You suck at the game, banned".

I get what you're saying it can be annoying to have idiots on your team who go down 10 seconds into your game or they rush unhooks in front of the killer and ruin it for the rest of your team but this idea just isn't going to happen. You can't just ban people for not winning games.
  • Throwing them as well? Would be too OP.

Problem with trapper is his traps are all or nothing. Go into one of them in a chase and it's game over.

I agree he's weak with one, but he could be very powerful if he was carrying three or more at all times.

Thing is even starting with 2 is ok and the grey bags are quite common in blood webs so it's not that bad to get him adequate add-ons.
  • Orion said:

i totally agree why the pig hate people

People are always "Wah wah wah, I had a trap on, why you slug me? Toxic. Reported. Enjoy you ban!" Count yourself lucky, if I was a Billy/Leatherface, you'd be dead by now. The timer doesn't go down when you're slugged - I just saved your life.

Most of the time, I can't even get people to engage with me if I crouch and dance around a bit. :( Noone loves us.

If they were walking past a jigsaw box, saw someone right there and slugged that would be perfectly understandable.

However the ones I play often go around checking jigsaw boxes and if they find you they'll go on a map wide chase just to secure a second hook.

It's asuch a waste of a game slowing power. Rather than use the extra time to get those that are smashing the gens they'll just try to secure that 1 kill, then they probably go online after and cry about how pig needs a buff because gens get done too fast.
  • Not sure why people rank myers so high, he's basic at best with the occasional insta down if you don't get looped for the time it takes the insta down to wear off. His stealth is decent but he has no way to prolong the game, no map presence after rank 2, and the time it takes you to "CHARGE MUH LAZOR" you could have downed them already.... I know he's some peoples favorite movie villain but in game he's not that fearful to face. I'm more panicky about a doc removing my ability to be immersed or a billy or nurse deleting my chase potential, or a pig trapping me and ruining my time to get gens done.

Myers is just as easy to dodge as leatherface, see him approach? Run to a loop, loop.....run to next loop when pallet breaks, loop some more. He has no mind game potential or sprint bursts or teleports so its as easy as dodging trapper, or freddy, or leatherface, especially since you can see his tall ass from miles away.

Agreed. He can insta-down but he has to delay a chase to do that. You need to waste time getting to tier 2 also just to make him a competent killer.

Myers can be effective against stupid survivors which is why he's effective at low rank as they'll often all be in one spot once he hits his tier 3 then it's game over. Competent players disappear as soon as he hits level 3 though.

The only good for Myers is that his tier 3 buys him time. Gens that are kicked stay kicked, people that are hooked stay hooked. It's a nice break when yoi hit tier 3 and suddenly the map looks empty.

Also I think people are really overrating Doc. Once you get to high rank he feels useless. Not only that but I notice my win rate against the Doc seems to be 100% and he's always by far the easiest killer to get away from in a chase ironically.
  • The new map is awful as killer. Always gives me it for some reason too.
  • DS is the only perk that's 100% toxic. It's game breaking.
  • Because people hate looping, it's really so so boring for the killer .Also bald dwights do it often and are usually good at it.
  • 360s are awful. It's just exploiting the poor mechanics of the game and all these toxic little ****s think they're "so k3wl!!" for doing them. Too bad outside of cornfields they never work more than once.

I feel no sympathy for anyone who tries pulling one on me. I won't be going easy on then or giving them the hatch.
  • This event is complete balls after you've got your vial. It's just people throwing games, giving up on the hooks to move to the next for more nectar and because they know there's no chance of winning. People straight up farming other people by unhooking to get their pip.

Then you have a million tunneling hillbillys running around.

Survivor isn't worth playing until the event ends once you have your vials.
  • Lol it's well known she's harder to find, that's why you see so many P3 Claudettes in the game.

They need to buff Wraith to her level.
  • You can't admit to using DS around these parts...
  • What's with all the complaints about losing vials, your only losing unfinished segments and keep the rest even if you die. Both sides have to be played. Lastly, I love the salt because killers aren't on a time crunch from the start. Don't blame killers if your to greedy to work a gen. The only reason I have seen that vials aren't being filled is survivors not posting offerings.
Both sides have to be played? I thought they were going back on that.

This explains the 10 million hillbillys that have just appeared then  it's hilarious because they all camp and tunnel like mad, and you just know they're the same people who always play survivor and cry about camping and tunneling.
  • I'm glad the skins are on the store. They're pretty cool, it would suck to deny them to new players just because they weren't playing the game during a specific time period. I think more games should take this approach.
  • @Wahara said:
I think it's okay. I mean, yes, she does show a lot of skin but her outfit isn't specifically designed to sexualize her. Her breasts do, because she's the first female Killer released after Curtain Call, which added jiggle physics.

    3) Cannibal - Show me a cannibal who doesn't camp and tunnel and I'll show you a monkey who can fly.

    2) Wraith - How to play Wraith

    • Hook survivor
    • Go invisible
    • Wait right next to the survivor for an unhook so you can tunnel
    • repeat

Or if they're feeling really bold, they might camp the hook and try to take out whoever comes for the rescue.

    1) Pig

    How to play Pig

    Hook survivor
Use stealth to get rid of terror radius
Tunnel the hell out of unhooked survivor
    Repeat

Also make sure to spend your entire game stalking the jigsaw boxes to tunnel survivors rather than you know....going for the survivors who are actually doing generators. Genius.

Yeah you can see a common theme among the killers I dislike. It's not the killers it's just that a lot of people can't think of or are too lazy to use their power in an interesting way other than to camp and tunnel.

Honorable mention goes to trapper, who walks in a circle of approx 30m around every hooked survivor just waiting to tunnel.

    Most

Nurse and Myers. They're the only ones who don't spend the entire game going for the strategy of camp & tunnel. I hate Freddy but at least they never seem to C&T either.

Never seen truer words spoken. That’s about the most accurate description of my games with these killers.

Nurse players I feel bad for since I play on console. I can take a tunneling from Nurse for five gens, that is how bad it is to play her on console. I know the pain since I played her to rack up some trophies and I wasn’t even red rank.

My tier list of LEAST annoying killers to face to MOST annoying killers to face

    1. Myers
    2. Nurse
    3. Spirit
    4. Clown
    5. Huntress
    6. Hillbilly
    7. Hag
    8. Freddy
    9. Doctor
    10. Trapper
    11. Pig
    12. Leatherface
    13. Wraith
    Spirit only at number 3?

Most people can't use her well. So every game with a spirit goes like this...

    - Hook survivor
    - Walk away from hook
    - Quickly phase walk back to tunnel the hell out of whoever just got unhooked.

At least with the nurse when people can't use her she's just useless. With spirit they can fall back on the old c&t routine.

Bing Bong or Doctor for sure. Doctor gives me a migraine and Bing Bong I always die against. He’s weak but I am always the first one found and every time I am hooked I always see that shimmer nearby me.

Lmao, Wraith would be my second choice for that very reason.

Put survivor on hook, go invisible and wait nearby. Wow haven't seen that before Mr Wraith, you sure are smart  :p

It's a shame because he's a fun killer to go against the 1% of times you get someone who plays him properly.
  • I have to agree. As a killer your special hooks can't be sabotaged, and bodyblocking isn't happening all that much.

As a survivor well there's four of you, and if the killer decides you're the one he's going after then no nectar for you that game.

To make matters worse you have to sit there while your teammates ignore heals to farm nectar or leave you on the hook and farm it in front of you.

.And now all of a sudden this is "toxic", but it was totally fine, when the survivor said it.

I play killer too and no it's not fine.

Why does everyone assume you have to be one or the other? I play both.

I hate teabagging survivors who rage quit and spam ez ######### at the end, and I hate killers who just circle the hook and try to make life miserable for one specific person.

Tunneling has nothing to do with the healing changes unless you still do unsafe unhooks and heal at the same place /thread

Um no. At low rank you trappers who circle just outside of terror radius and then come rushing back. Even if you move it actually slows you down since the killer can move faster plus its so easy to find people.

Or you get spirits who constantly walk away then phase walk back.

    It happens a lot.

Also don't give me the "dont do unsafe hooks" etc that assumes I have any kind of control over how other people play. I don't. Therein lies the problem. People just dgaf solo.

Lowranks, how about getting better. Get iron will which is a free perk and urban evasion and be stealthy. That still leaves you with 1 exhaustion perk and Selfcare.

Nice idea there "git gud" not toxic at all.

I have ranked up a bit thank you very much. Down to playing with a friend for a bit and luck of good teammates.

However solo survivor is hard because you often get put with idiots. People who try to unhook 2 seconds after a hook. People who unhook right in front of the killer. People who can't even consistently hit good skillchecks.

Your "git gud" attitude is extremely toxic, and hilariohs how killers always respond to this despite crying like hell whenever survivors say it about gen rushing. At the end of the day you're only 25% of the team. You can't atop the other three survivors from making some very bad decisions or disconnecting or playing in a selfish way.

People play like idiots or disconnect every game = killers DGAF and take full advantage = keeps competent players at low ranks = So people decide SWF is the only way to play without having a disconnect almost every game = killers crying about how high rank is all SWF and is too hard.
  • It slows you down if you leave scratch marks and allow being tracked down. All this shows how easy you (survivors) had it and actually still do, because this change is nothing monumental. Yet even such shift makes some of you miserable, just...

Healing up right under nose of killer was fine then? Hell it was. If that little change forces you to leave hook spot, crouch, stealth away and further than to the nearest corner then it's a step in the right direction, cause those 4sec longer are prolonging game even more that just that. Maybe one day we will see the times survivors will focus on not being found. (And just to be clear, stealth and most importantly - vanishing from sight should be buffed but complaints should be pushing game toward that direction instead of keeping where it is or was).

You know WHY people healed right at the hook? Because they knew the killer was circling around just outside of terror radius just WAITING to come back and tunnel the unhooked guy.

Again, running away can be detrimental. Before you have 12 seconds to heal. Now running away at the same time the killer is coming towards you - he's closing the gap because he moves faster, thus when you start healing you have less than 12 seconds.

It's not a problem against good killers. I always move away from the hooks to not tempt them. What I'm talking about though is killers who will drop whatever they're doing to come tunnel the unhooked guy out of the game. These people only ever intend to tunnel whoever they catch first.

I like how you say "you survivors" as if I only play survivor. I play both. Again this is just crappy killers exploting the new changes in a bad way.
