Trapper Rework idea

I think trapper should have 3 traps minimum and have a new ability, that allows him to toss a trap at a survivor the same way clown does if it hits a survivor it injures them and leaves the trap on the ground disarmed, if it misses the survivor then the trap remains set on the ground. He also auto picks up traps but he has to set his traps in the same way the clown does to have them reactivated. This would allow him to have some method of mind gaming and working ahead of the survivor.

  • I think buffing The Trapper is more a matter of reworking his existing mechanics. For example, your ideas about letting him carry more traps at once, or picking up traps automatically (or at least faster). His main weakness isn't that his mechanic is bad, but rather that it takes too much time out of the game (finding traps, picking them up, setting them, not to mention that he can only carry one at a time so he has to keep going back for more) for him to use it effectively. Trapper's "mind games" are all about where he puts his traps, and manipulating survivors during a chase to make them run into them. He doesn't need a projectile to play games or work ahead of survivors, his current mechanics already do that.

Bear traps in real life are much heavier than glass bottles, and while throwing them at someone would likely injur them it's not a very effective way of using them. Also, having him hurling 30 pounds of metal across the map like a mad olympian would look a bit silly and detract from his intimidation factor somewhat.

  • Throwing them as well? Would be too OP.

Problem with trapper is his traps are all or nothing. Go into one of them in a chase and it's game over.

I agree he's weak with one, but he could be very powerful if he was carrying three or more at all times.

Thing is even starting with 2 is ok and the grey bags are quite common in blood webs so it's not that bad to get him adequate add-ons.
  • I want to turn Trapper into the Clown

    ...Why not just play Clown...?
I do think that being able to throw traps would be interesting though, and would allow you to place them in unique locations. The downside is that it would be possible to throw a trap somewhere stupid and be unable to retrieve it.

  • I read the part about the traps being thrown and stopped there.
