Me when I hear someone say playing killer is easier after I just got 7 straight escapes with my 3 SWF teammates alive in all games at red ranks:
Even as a killer main, when I hear killer is easier I be like:
I mean, sure, if your team tanks the match than you can share the blame around (if you want), but sharing blame for a loss doesn't make the game itself easier. As survivor even if you're getting into a lot of chases you're going to be spending large chunks of the match holding M1 to do OBJ or holding M1 to do altruism.
As killer you need to be playing at 100% for the entirety of the match. Any mistake they make can get them hooked, but they can get hooked up to 3 times. Any major mistake you make can cost you the entire match.

i mean, have you ever gone against a SWF with flashlights as those killers tho? because your counterplay goes out the window the second anyone can communicate where your traps are, or where your wraith shimmer is traveling to. As wraith in particullar with his shimmer and loud footsteps/moving corn and foliage/etc, a survivor can report you coming from a different angle so you have to sacrifice your positioning while decloaking most of the time to be safe from lightburn, which makes you much less able to get hits off the decloak speed burst. Even with a clapper addon, they can easily nullify the mindgame/lack of notification provided by being able to see from different angles and communicate that.
for hag? One person can literally just creep around you calling out trap locations, while another either flashlight burns them with ease when you're in a chase with someone else, too far away, carrying someone, etc. Technically they don't even need the flashlight when they know you're too far or unable to teleport to it. Trapper has the same problem obviously, which is part of why communication kills "big brain" killers like that.
Its not that the flashlights themselves are too powerful vs those specific killers, its that they are far too exploitable vs them. You're not going to run into it every game with them, but when you do it makes them feel pretty pathetic.
SWFs on comms are a threat to pretty much any M1 killer anyways. Going against them as Wraith is as rough as going against them as Trapper.
Hag, though? Nah. I often get teams trying to bully my Hag. It almost never goes the way they think it will, and the instant karma turnaround is pretty funny.

Just played my first game with it, I combined it with Umbra Salts (turning add-on) but I'm still not sure how I feel about it, anybody else tried it out?
I played a game with it against Rank 1 survivors and it turned out to be really useful. I got the 4K with only 2-3 gens done. However, I was on Shelter Woods, which may have been the best possible map for that specific addon, so take that with a grain of salt.
I also combined it with Umbra Salts, and I agree with cerebrate here: the combo did nothing for me. Even with the turning addon I was going basically in straight lines. That said, being able to free rotate your camera during rushes got me a LOT of hits I might have normally missed.
I really liked the addon. It changed up my playstyle quite a bit. I don't foresee myself using it a lot, but I'll definitely be using it again from time to time.

This is a screenshot from Ohmwrecker's latest match. For those of you unfamiliar with this particular streamer, Ohmwrecker is a rank one killer and survivor, but as you can see he hasn't played in a while.
This is exactly why the MMR system was sorely needed, because no matter which way you look at it, this was a nightmare for everyone involved. Unbeknownst to the survivors they were actually going up against a rank 1 killer, but if Ohmwrecker was indeed a true rank 13, then he would have gotten completely screwed over by those that he was paired up against.
I'm a rank 13 myself and this is what I see every time I play killer, which is what makes playing killer so difficult. And to add insult to injury these new chapters keep introducing more and more bugs. And when you couple that with a poor matchmaking system, it makes DBD unbearable to play. Which is why I'm glad that the devs admitted in today's Q&A that the MMR is coming back soon, and I for one can't wait.
What exactly are you trying to prove? It's laughably easy to get to rank 1. I recently took 3 months off the game and regressed to rank 7. It took me less than 3 hours to get back to rank 1 killer.
Those who have experience and play well can make it to rank 1 easily. It doesn't even mean you're that good, just that you can pip more often than you depip. If you can't make it to rank 1? You may not be as good as your red-ranked competition.
Showing us the end screen of a single match in which a killer mori'd an entire team isn't even evidence. It's just... a picture.

Or, maybe you just aren't that great with him and need to practice. He's not Nurse, but he's damn good once you get the hang of it.
I know, right?
I've played maybe 15 Blight matches tonight and the survivors have only finished the gens once.
For a killer who sucks so much people sure seem to be DCing against him a lot.
...well, okay, in fairness survivors DC against every killer I play (which is all of them).

So basically when a survivor and killer both know where the hatch is and are there at the same time, the survivor will probably escape?
Nope. If you're standing on hatch they can't escape. Even if you're NOT standing directly atop it if you mash the 'close' button you'll always close it before they escape.
-
A bit of a racy one:
Two Blendettes Urban Evade into each other.
One says, "You need to come out of that locker already."
The other replies, "How can you say I'm in the closet when you won't stop crouching in my bush?"
-
If I get a 4K with Hag/Freddy I'll carry the last survivor to the hatch/gate and drop them nearby. Then I'll set up a congo line of traps, juggle them back onto their feet and make them run the gauntlet to escape.

I want to like you. I really do, but when you ######### on first hook and DC every game... it's hard. I immediately expect the worst and I gave you a fighting chance. Today I turned off crossplay and had more fun than I ever have in these last few weeks. I didn't make it out every game, but every teammate went on the hook 3 times (very few exceptions) and saw that everyone had the same complaints. So stop killing yourselves. Buckle down and play the game like everyone else. To the ones that already do this message isn't for you. Just be better teammates instead of dragging the team down
Sincerely,
A PC gamer
I Play on PC too, and console players definitely do NOT have a monopoly on DCing.
-
People don't hate stealth as a concept. Most survivors use stealth to some degree. They hate teammates who focus so much on stealth that they ignore their teammates and OBJ in lieu of not being seen.
If your teammate is on death-hook and you've been Urban Evasion poop-scooting around bushes all match maybe you should take this chase in her stead, right?
Also, you're not going to get better at 'aggressive' gameplay if you don't take some chases, and chase is just where the meta of the game is focused these days.

Also they added a stealth skin for Pig by giving her an outfit that is black instead of bright red which costs money. So if they do it with Pig, why can't they do it with survivors ? 🤔
Because... she's a killer?
The day we see killers crouching behind a tree all game and ignoring gens I'll consider this to be a problem.

Wraith should be able to either attack from cloak while they're attempting the lightburn, or be immune to lightburning altogether. The fact that he has both restrictions at this point is absurd, up there with trapper being able to step in (and not over) his own traps.
Hag should be able to teleport to any trap within her radius within a few seconds of a trap being burned, or maybe the next closest trap to the one that got burned. Using the flashlight already illuminates the traps before they're even destroyed, she really needs SOMETHING to help her power stay viable when they're in play.
I Play a lot of those two killers, and those are NOT changes we need.
If you're getting lightburned a lot as Wraith start your uncloak around a corner or behind a tree. Usually they'll still go for the stun, but they won't have enough time and you'll get a free hit.
Hag and Trapper are big-brain killers. You need to place their traps carefully so that survivors can't see them and disarm them. Hag's traps are nearly invisible anyways, so I almost never have problems with flashlights. If you're trapping every hook and flashlight users are destroying them before getting the save... well that's just fair play. Don't trap hooks, trap the routes to the hooks.
-
I've got no context to judge by, mate.
Seems like you were getting facecamped? Sometimes killers do that when the gens are done and the gates are open. They're just desperate to secure a kill. It sucks, but a lot of the time it's the only move they have left.
Or he could just be an a******. You see them on both sides.

I notice in the shop that there are so many cosmetics to choose from. Yet most of them have very bright colors which are easy for the killer to spot. So my suggestion is to add more cosmetics that allow survivors to actually blend in with their surroundings.
Blendettes Are common enough as is. We don't need to start adding Blendwights and Blendeas into the mix.
Frankly, given the amount of tracking abilities/perks/addons that are available these days playing stealth is becoming less and less viable as a strategy. I'd be willing to bet money that this is an intentional move by the devs.
Also note that when I find you crouching behind a tree (not if, but when) I'm always going to chase you first. Not out of spite - it's just been my experience that stealth-oriented survivors are almost always weaker in chase.

I play him and I've got the most use out of Dream Pallets (especially against bad survivors).
Pallets are certainly fun, especially at low ranks. You'll get no arguments from me if you want to use them.
Snares are more reliable though, and more powerful. You can use them at every loop. They're not that hard to use, either. I can't explain how while typing on my phone - look up a good killer streamer like OhTofu, Otzdarva, or Tru3Talent and check out some of their Freddy games on youtube.
Ignore the people who say snares are "zzzzzzzzzzz". They're butthurt because they can't mindlessly loop you like they do other M1 killers and they refuse to adapt and learn. You'll be wrecking them in no time at all.

He's pretty powerful once you get a grip on when to use his power. He's probably not top tier (Nurse and Spirit level), but I think he'll be pretty close.
He's also just SUPER fun to play. Constantly boinking off of walls to catch up to people is very fun, and rebounding off of 4 walls to get a tricky hit feels just as fist-pumping great as getting a cross-map Billy chainsaw or a particulalry slick Huntress snipe.

I had a lot of fun with this build. Hex: Undying, Hex: Haunted Grounds, Hex: Noed, perk of your choice. In my case I was running stridor because I was playing spirit. Hex Undying provides auras, Haunted Grounds tend to be activated between 2 and 3 times and usually by end game there is 1 unlit totem that will never be found.
This strat can be countered if survivors only go for unlit totems or they break unlit totems first. This isn't common knowledge yet and it's been way too good so far.
Wait, do Haunted Grounds and Undying work together? Someone tried this out in the PTB and said that HG doesn't activate if it gets transferred to a new totem.

The "poor sport" thing is getting really tiring and repetitive. I'll explain once again... Not everyone treats gaming as sport. Some see it as casual entertainment. What makes you think that everyone should treat video games like some sort of competitive sport?
Also not sure why you so confused about concept of stealing. In my country even toddlers in kindergarten are taught that if you didn't bring it, than it isn't yours. And even 5 year old kiddies know that they can't just grab a toy from someone else while that person is momentarily distracted, unless they want to have a fight.
"I'm quitting because I can't have my key" is the textbook definition of someone being a poor sport.
Edit: If you want to quit because you're not having fun then finish the match and THEN turn off the game. That's what being a good sport/good teammate is.

I mean... yeah?
Was this ever in question? This game has always had loads of subtle sound ques that you need good headphones to hear.
Even a month after crossplay started I'm still getting console survivors following me to hooks thinking that I can't hear them and that they'll get a free save. I'm not trying to start a PC vs. Console war - I've seen plenty of good console survivors. But there seems to be a big part of the console meta that relies on killers using TV speakers and not being able to hear footsteps and breathing. This needs to be revised.

Is there a notification to survivors that undying is in play?
No there is not, but it's not hard to figure out. You get a notification when Ruin is up, so if you cleanse a totem and the Ruin icon stays you've either cleansed an unrelated totem or Ruin got transferred.
-
@Auron471 said:
survivors will be cleansing totems like crazy with undying in the game, which will make them better at knowing where totems spawn. Thus noed is less likely to get any value, or even activate.
Hmmm.... no.
I've been playing Undying/Ruin a lot (I still don't have a lot of perks for Blight, so I'm using what I've got) And what I've seen so far is that even when survivors bring maps my Ruin has stayed up all game in 14/15 matches. I often get matches where the survivors break my Ruin totem 2-3 times but never find Undying. The only match where they got both totems early was one of the matches where they brought a rainbow map.

Of course. People pay real life $ for the paid rift. I don't see anything wrong with prioritizing getting their money back over anything else. I'm also not sure what "selfish" means in concept of video-games. Aren't we all playing for our own fun? Or are you playing to entertain others?
This isn't a single player game. You go into a match with 4 other people who are also looking to have fun. If you quit and ruin their chances at having a good time because "something something I paid money for cosmetics something blah blah", then yeah. That is selfish.
It is. It just is. It's selfish. It is.

Unbreakable is a very powerful perk, even without DS.
As a Rank 1 killer main I'll admit that I do some tactical slugging to pressure survivors off of gens. Unbreakable can completely negate that tactic, even if people just use its secondary effect to recover faster. If I've got an entire team slugging and someone recovers off the ground then that one perk has just literally saved the entire team.

When did they do that?
Ah, Mother's Dwelling. I honestly don't know what they did with that map during the redesign. There are two really strong windows in the main building. IIRC you used to get one opened and one sealed. Now I've seen matches where both are blocked and matches where both are open.

There is a rift challenge to blind the killer. If she was doing the challenge and realized that it maybe much harder this round, than it's perfectly understandable. Some people may really want the rift rewards, while not having tons of spare time to complete them.
Screwing your team and tanking a match because you can't do a challenge is understandable? Because to me it just seems incredibly selfish and petty.

Your op does not mention main buildings at all.
Are you talking about suffocation pit? It used to have two different versions of where the window could spawn in the MB, but one of those variations was too strong. After the map rework that window now always spawns in the same (weaker) place.

Sadly, this is pretty normal behavior for survivors (from my experience). Just yesterday I had a rank 1 Blendette DC because I knocked her yellow no-addon flashlight out of her hand.
-
Certain tiles will have two orientations. Sometimes one window will be blocked and sometimes a different window will be blocked, but there will always be at least one window available. The classic example of this is the high-walled tile we all lovingly call: the jungle gym. It will always have one window and one pallet, but there are two orientations in which the window/pallet can be placed. Respectfully, you may want to learn about the different DBD tiles.
https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Maze_Tiles
Unless you're talking about Main Buildings? Because they work the same way. They have multiple orientations, so if a window has been blocked a different window somewhere in that building has been opened up.
-
Are people saying flashlights deafening the killer? Because that has never been my experience. I find it pretty easy to follow people's footsteps and breathing after I've been blinded.
Oh, wait. I'm re-reading your OP and it seems like you're questioning whether flashlights should deafen people? Then that's a hard no. Just... no. That's not how light works.

Nah, minotaur Oni is a new skin for an existing model. Making a male Pig would necessitate an entirely male model, unless you want a Pig that sounds male but looks distinctly feminine. Maybe people would be into that. I don't judge.

Anyone else getting huge amounts of survivors AND killers disconnecting? usually survivors that go down early and killers that can't get downs will immediately D/C. did they turn off the penalty?
People DC for a lot of reasons: they're angry at the killer. They're angry at their teammates. They don't want to lose their item. They find the killer or map to be 'boring'. They're spiteful and want to deny the killer points/rank. They want their SWF buddy to get hatch.
The common theme is that it's always petty, and it usually hurts their teammates more than the killer. Until the community turns against them or the devs find a way to penalize them without screwing with the livelihoods of DBD streamers it's something we just have to deal with. The best response is to point and laugh. It's harder from the survivor's side, but there it is.

Just saying it, he's really bad. His power is good for getting places but it's so incredibly easy too juke because he literally can't turn while Lethal Dashing. Even if he could any pallet or window completely counters him because he has too stop his power, then break the pallet, and in that time you've gone too another pallet. Even if they're in the open the actual dash will slide off most angled walls instead of colliding with them, so you loose the survivor because you can't turn. it also doesn't help his M1 is buggy and doesn't connect when it should half the time.
He needs his ultra rare addon where he breaks pallets on impact in order to be even close too good. If he broke pallets on Lethal Rush and had the ability to turn his attacks like Oni he would be an amazing killer, but ATM he's just too frustrating to play.
I've Been winning most of my matches at rank 1. I hate to keep repeating this, but I'll say it yet again: it's still Day 2. He's a high skill level killer. Much like all the other high skill level killers it's gonna take some time to settle in with the character. It was the same with Billy. And nurse. And Spirit. And Huntress. And Oni. And Deathslinger. Right now we're all using his ability with reckless abandon, testing it to see qhat its limitations are. But using it at appropriate moments is going to be key to playing this killer well.
Also, he's just FUN. I'm sorry if you find him frustrating, but Im having a blast boinking from place to place. Live the dream, buddy.

My guess is they chose Tapp because Danny Glover is probably the most notable actor in the series aside from Tobin Bell. Even if he is only in the first movie.
They chose Amanda because she's related to the Reverse Bear Trap that Saw is iconic for. If you asked someone to name a trap from Saw, they'd probably say RBT. Also, other traps are more complicated/immobile and wouldn't mesh well with DBD mechanics.
Never liked Hoffman much. I thought he was a very one-dimensional character. Plus the later movies are the worst (except 6) so I don't mind Hoffman being left out.
I would've loved to see Gordon in the game, but the actor has a lawsuit history with Saw so Im guessing it was a legal issue.
Can't think of why they left out John though. He should've been an alternate skin for Pig for sure.
I think the reason they left out John is because he's a septaugenarian cancer patient. A guy in a hospital bed would not make for a very imposing killer.
Making a Hoffman skin for Pig would require new animations and new sounds, which would be a lot nore qork than just a new outfit.
Tapp is Tapp. He's too old for this s***. Leave Tapp alone.
As for Saw lore, the Game map is RIDDLED with easter eggs from the series. Go on and soak them all in.

Maybe they're stacking mouse and keyboard turning?
I haven't played as Blight yet, but that's how you could do 180s with Oni originally.
That is indeed what we are doing. You can rotate during the rush before you lunge, and then rotate a bit more during the lunge itself. I've found that by anticipating your opponents movements correctly you can pivot nearly 90 degrees when you do a lethal lunge (or whatever it's called).

Bubba: trees, doorpost (game map for example) run around that like the old days and there's a big chance that he hits something.
When he's sweeping and you're close to a locker, jump in and wait till the very last sec to jump back out.
When he's right on your ass reving his chainsaw and you are at a pallet, just drop in and keep running.
Pig: when you have a bear trap on your head an d not active, just do gens if possible.
Unless you're right next to a box ofcourse.
Spirit: easier than a lot of people think.
When in chase, run back to her over your own tracks, or stop running and walk a different way.
When in chase near a pallet, mix things up here.
Drop the pallet while you're on the other side, and slow vault back over.
Drop the pallet while you're on the side where you came from (she expects you on the other side).
Plague: personally I would say, see what the rest of the team does.
If you're good at looping, I'd say don't cleanse.
But mind you, as soon as you notice she has blood echo that cleanse.
If the rest of your team don't cleanse than don't screw them over by giving her more pools for corrupt.
Just try to avoid her as much as possible than.
Legion: they are pretty easy.
When in frenzy and you hear their heartbeat start running away from them.
The chances are low they will get you with frenzy then, cause big chance they run out of the ability.
At a window or dropped pallet, vault and pretend to run to a side.
When they slide over you run and vault back over.
It wastes their time and cost him part of his ability meter.
Myers: what someone else also said, try to keep him in tier 1 as long as possible.
Use objects to zig zag trough so you constantly break line of side.
Scratch mirror myers: yeah you might forget this one.
Sounds are everything here, you can hear him breath before he's even close to you.
Start running as soon as you hear him.
Depanding on the map, don't start throwing down pallets early.
Remember, he has to be on your ass to get a hit cause it is very short, even with the add on.
Also remember he is very slow, so you can easily run in a straith line.
By the time he catches up, you're allready on the other side of the map.
Just some things that pop into my mind as there are a lot more.
A lot of people find certain killers hard/unfun/broken, give it a name, while all it requires is a tiny adaptation.
PLEASE do not jump into a locker against Bubba. People try that against me all the time. It doesn't work unless you have Head On.

Wasn't there supposed to be some new offering that negated map offerings from the other team? I would use those in literally every one of my killer matches if we had them.
Getting sent to Ormond in 1/4 of my matches sucks, but nothing compares to the sheer agony of seeing a Coldwind offering and knowing deep in my heart that between the 5 farm maps I have a 100% chance of being sent to ROTTEN FRIGGING FIELDS again. That is the most (corn) horrendously (corn) awful (corn) boring (corn) and uncreative (corn) excuse for a (corn) corn (corn) corn (CORN!) map that has ever been made.
I was sent there 5 matches in a row last week. I hate it!

So working as intended apparently.
^^ What this guy said.
You used to be able to hear survivor footsteps in mid-chase when they went around walls/corners. They've been messing with chase sounds for over a year now to restrict this. As a killer main I found it very aggravating at first. I use my ears even more than my eyes to track survivors. I guess I'm more okay with it now, but I did notice what you meant with Blight's chase music being so loud.
As long as I can keep hearing that Blendie breathing when she's Urban Evasion poop-scooting around a rock I'll be happy.
