  • His low FOV is intentional. It's the downside he has to overcome in exchange for having the best mobility in the game.

Every killer has a weakness. Some move slower, some have long cooldowns. Blight's weakness is that his camera is at ant level.

Embrace it. Who cares how tall you are when you can boink-boink-smack?

  • M&A might not be the best perk for Doc, as it stunts the range of his static blast. Use it if that's your playstyle, but you'll want to wait until you're in chase to use your static blast to het the best value out of it.

Whispers is a great perk for Doc if you're not using M&A, distressing, or Calm addons. It tells you when you're guaranteed to get a hit with your static blast.

My build is pretty classic Impossible Skill Check Doctor: Distressing, Unnerving, Hintress Lullaby, and Sloppy Butcher (instead of Overcharge, which sucks). My addons are calm with either restraint or discipline. It gets me wins even against rank 1 teams and is an absolute stomper against weaker players/Blendettes.

Calm down you found them what's the big deal it's not rule breaking in any way sounds like you're an entitled killer main

    Lol wut

Refusing to do obj is absolutely taking the game hostage. There's literally no way for the killer to find them unless they stand still long enough to attract crows. Hence why it took 10-15 minutes to find them. Nobody wants to be in that situation.

  • MMR is the one I really want to see implemented. I want to be playing against people that are closer to my skill level.

Just as annoying is that I can't switch killers in the lobby. I know this change was made for MMR, but since MMR isn't implemented...

  • There are nice, respectful people out there. I think they're even the majority of players. The toxic ones are just more vocal, either because they had a rough match and need to vent or are intentionally trying to be douches.

I find it's easier to get people to be nice by being positive myself. I give hatch quite a lot when games are played 'normally', and I say 'gg <3' or 'gg wp' after almost every match.

Even the survivor sided streamers I've seen tend to be respectful. The thing is, none of us like playing against weak killers/survivors. We want to play to our skill level.

  • I start every killer match (when I'm using hex perks) by looking around at my totem spawns and saying to myself, "That one is doomed. That one miiiight last." When I play Ruin/Undying I usually lose both my totems by the 3 minute mark. Which is FINE. It's meant to be a risk/reward situation. I do wish totem spawns were better though.

Then when I play survivor totems stay up all match. I usually break 3 or so by myself because my teammates don't know or care enough to do it.

Fun story time: last week I was playing Blight with Ruin/Undying on Hawkins. 30 seconds in my Undying got cleansed at literally the exact moment I downed a Meg ON TOP of my Ruin totem: as in, her head literally collided with it as she fell. I figured defending it was a lost cause, so I hooked her and didn't even bother trying to defend it. Then... she never cleansed it. I think falling on it headfirst might have given her a concussion. Megheads. Whaddya-gonna-do?

  • Yes.

    That is all.

I don't play games on PC but you can turn that chat off right? There should not even be a chat in the game, no reason to talk to the other team at all they/him can play how they want.

I love chatting with people post-match. Toxic players tend to be more vocal, but the majority are friendly. From what I recall you can't turn chat off in PC but you can minimize it so that you can't see it. Same thing, I guess.

  • Survivors will complain about literally any killer. Hag was the closest I had to a 'main' before Blight stole my heart.

Don't let salty players skew your choices. Though as a really good Hag player, I recommend to everyone that you shouldn't put traps next to hooks (most of the time). That's unfun for skilled survivors and unfair for unskilled survivors. Hag is still one of the best killers in the game even if you use all your traps on routes survivors run. I get a lot more positive feedback with that playstyke and still win 99% of my matches.

  • Ooh ooh. One more:

I beat a 4 man SWF as Freddy and one of them wrote, "Freddy with BBQ and Pop, how original and exciting."

I wrote back, "A survivor team with 4 DH, 3 DS, 3 BT, 2 UB, and 2 Adr, how original and exciting."

    They didn't respond to that.

  • I always write 'gg <3' or 'gg wp' (or just 'gg' if the match was kinda rough) and I'm pleased to say that when people respond it's usually with positive comments. It helps that I often give hatch as killer.

When people get salty though it's ALWAYS hilarious. The other day I got a 12 hook, full iri, 32k BP, 4k 5 gen as Blight. The survivors called me a hardcore tunneller. I pointed out that all 4 of them had DS and none of them got to use it. That was when the all caps began.

  • Congrats on your thesis. It's very well written.

I like that your findings show that as a killer main I'm likely to be introverted, disagreeable, and neurotic. I find your results to be... accurate.

    You got me.

  • It can be, especially when survivors throw the game just to get their challenges. Personally I like having optional objectives to do.

Fun story time: the other day I was doing an old challenge to get 4 hooks during the EGC. I played Trapper and spent the match setting up for the endgame (I wasn'tusing NOED, FWIW). The survivors legit played extremely well and all 4 were still alive by the time the gates were opened. Then two of them started tbagging in the exit gate while injured, not realizing that I had just activated Blood Warden. I ended up getting a 3k and all 4 EGC hooks I needed for my challenge. In the post-chat the survivors were arguing with each other about which one of them threw the match.

  • Knocking a key out of someone's hand eith Franklins only to have them instantly DC. Nope! You don't get to keep it.

Standing beneath a 2nd story window as Freddy and faking a teleport to make a survivor jump into my waiting arms (specifically, the arm with all the knife fingers).

Seeing a survivor tbag me at a pallet only to immediately turn and run into a bear trap. This is just basic karma: if you BM a trap killer you are only SECONDS away from walking into one of their traps.

Yeah, kicking gen is an outdated mechanic from the initial game release and they haven't changed almost nothing about it.

That's why I hate kicking gens without certain perks, it's useless, you're just wasting precious time, it helps more the survivors than the Killer itself, its ridiculous.

Kicking gens wasn't actually a mechanic when the game first released. They didn't add it in until around the 6 month mark iirc. Before then there was nothing you could do to regress gens.

I agree with the OP. The way to balance the game in its current state isn't to make gens take longer (survivors don't want to spend even more time holding m1) but to improve the killer's capacity to delay and regress gens. I like the idea of not being able to tap gens to stop it from regressing.

what if you apologize, because i did that to someone and apologized for it because i knew it was a dick play( insta saved the dude with bt while having smol pp)

I do that too with DS and BT. Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission I guess.

Again, killers can tell the difference between survivors who bring second chance perks as a way to counter tunnelling/camping etc. and survivors who use their second chance perks like offensive weapons.

  • It's less about the perks you bring and more about your playstyle. There's nothing wrong with bringing DS to counter tunnelling and UnbreakaBill to counter slugging, but if you bring both and then buzz around the killer like a gadfly after getting unhooked because you know you have 60 seconds of invulnerability then you might just be an a****le.

  • Apparently survivor mains hated it. I disagreed, but then if they're the ones playing survivor every single match they're the ones who have to listen to it All. The. Time.

Frankly the new sounds were more realistic. Why would you hear the sound of pistons pumping if you're still *repairing* the gen.

  • Streamers only post their best videos. Don't bother comparing yourself to the handpicked matches of people who have 1000s of hours of experience.

The fastest I've ever seen the 1st gen pop is 27 seconds, and that was with a purple shroud so they could work on it as a group of 4 and 3 BNPs. The good news was that they used all their BNPs on the first gen. They got a 2nd gen 60 seconds later, but by the time the game ended 12 minutes later they still had 3 gens left.

The first couple gens will always pop quickly. Don't let that discourage you. Killers always have a chance to snowball a comeback and win.

  • I play every killer except Huntress and Slinger, so I know with a certainty that survivors will DC against literally anybody. Just yesterday I had survivors DCing against Trapper, Blight, and Pig.

I've heard they reinstated DC penalties this morning. Not sure if that means survivors will just kill themselves on hook, or if the DC penalty will be removed again because streamers keep getting hacked.

Ignore any salt survivors give you. Or just enjoy it for what it is. There's nothing wrong with your build, except that you should prolly level it up more. On Sunday I had a SWF team call me a hardcore tunneller - except all 4 of them had DS and I didn't get hit by a single one.

  • There's a game I like to play with survivors when I get the hatch first and find the last survivor running for a gate:

I'll stand at a respectful distance and watch. As soon as they pull the switch I'll walk a few steps closer. They'll jump off the switch and prepare to be chased; I'll just stand still and watch. As soon as they touch the switch again I'll walk a few more steps towards them. Rinse and repeat until I'm standing right behind them breathing down their neck, and they start panicking thinking I'm trying to get a grab. If they keep their nerve and open the gate they get to leave. If they keep panicking until the EGC ends, well... they failed the test.

I did this to a Dweet yesterday and it was the most ADORABLE thing I've ever seen. The sheer panic coming off him as he tried to open the gate while sandwiched between me and the switch was palpable. He spent the entire 2 minutes of EGC at the gate, but only opened it with about 10 seconds left.

  • The difference between Freddy and Hag is that Freddy moves at 4.6 m/s and Hag moves at 4.4 m/s. This A BIG DEAL when chasing survivors.

Freddy's snares are a powerful anti-looping tool. Hag's traps are weaker at loops because they take so much longer to set. Smart survivors will just run to the next pallet.

Freddy is at his best as a chase killer who has great mobility thanks to his gen teleports. Great Hags (like myself) won't even chase survivors normally. She'll set up traps on routes survivors like to run and then corral survivors into them.

  • I've been a Blight main since the day he dropped and I'm winning almost all of my matches. Even against SWFs. Even on indoor maps. Blight just has an extremely high skill cap and needs a lot of map knowledge. People can dodge his rushes by being unpredictable, but his cooldown is so small that as long as you get a near miss they won't be able to make distance. Plus you can use his power to zone people really effectively.

For the record, I'm not sure he even is A tier because he has so little anti-loop. He might be at the top of B tier.

I'm actually jealous of the OP for having gone against 15 or so Blights. I've gone against maybe 3. I'm tired of constantly playing against Huntress and Myers (I still love you, Huntress and Myers, I just want more variety.)

  • A basic tutorial on antilooping as Bubba:

If you can M1 (basic attack a survivor) before they reach a windiw pallet it's usually worth getting the hit. If they reach the pallet first pre-rev your chainsaw. DO NOT walk into the pallet's hitbox or they will drop it on you while you're revving and stun you. If the survivor is smart they'll drop the pallet and you'll get it out of the way quickly and they won't get much distance on you. If they're not smart they'll get greedy and try to loop the pallet. If it's a longer loop you'll usually be able to chainsaw them.

Chainsaw control just takes a bit of practice, but you can learn when to use your charges by sound. Every time Bubba swings his chaisaw he grunts. Use your second charge after his third swing/grunt and your third charge 4 swings/grunts later.

One of the problems with DbD is that the killer getting one hook before or after any gens are done is usually the main determining factor for which side will win. The early game is simply too impactful.

I disagree with this. Early game is the least impactful part of the match. Set up killers almost always lose a gen before their first hook, and a killer who gets a lot of pallets dropped early is in a pretty good position. Killers always have a chance to come back and snowball a victory. The same is not true for survivors.

  • As a Hag a year or two ago I led the last survivor to the gate to let him escape.

While he was opening the gate I set up a conga line of traps up a hill just to get some extra BP. The survivor saw what I was doing and came back to run my death gauntlet just for my amusement. Now every time I give someone hatch as Hag or Freddy I make them run a death gauntlet first. They always play along.

You hook someone, you start walking away but you see scratch marks. You start checking around the hook. You are now camping. Or at least from the survivors pov you are.

    Right?

I get this a lot too:

You're patrolling gens looking for survivors when someone gets unhooked. You rotate back to the gen and find the unhooked survivor self-caring in a dead zone. Their rescuer is nowhere to be seen, so you slug them to make pressure and move on. Now you're a dirty tunneler who slugs. It's all your fault and you should be ashamed of yourself, and the survivors will be happy to tell you this in the postgame chat.

  • I've seen several console players who have TTV in their names. I even know of some PC streamers who occasionally play on console (or with a gamepad on their PC). All you can really say for certain is that they're not on the same console as you.

But sure, generalize PC players. According to you we camp/slug/tunnel the same survivor all game and still get a 3k with 25-30k BP. We're just super scummy like that.

  • So... you're saying that it's mainly PC killers who are camping and tunnelling, but the way you identify them as PC killers is by seeing if they camp and tunnel? That thar is what we call a logical fallacy. As a PC player allow me to assure you that I have not been seeing the same trend as you. I'm not throwing shade on console players either; the killers playing scummy are the ones on any platform who are just lower skilled.

Also, as a killer main I can plainly state that you do not get 30k BP for focusing on a single survivor. With most killers you'll have to get around 10 hooks to score that high.

How is Dragons Grip wasted on Blight with how fast he can return to a gen?!

It's Got a 2 minute cooldown and it requires you to use a basic attack. I get most of my Blight hits with Lethal lunges.

Also it only lasts 30 seconds. Once smart survivors (i.e. the type of survivors I design builds around) realize you have it they'll just play around it.

Maybe other Blights are getting good use out of it, but I've been maining him since his release and I've found it pretty useless on him.

  • @rickyray101 said:

Between all killers running infectious fright and BBQ calm spirit is a necessity. Also with killers such as the doctor and blight you need it to keep quit from screaming. What other perks do you guys run out of curiosity?

How Does Blight make you scream? Are you talking about his perk Dragon's Grip? Because I only ever use that on Pig. It's kinda wasted if you use it on Blight TBH.

As a rank 1 surv/killer I should say that at high ranks survivors don't care at all about their location being revealed. We WANT to get chased. It's how we have fun in matches. Calm Spirit is antithetical to that.

I should also mention that the true power of Calm Spirit is that you don't startle crows. Then again, only the best killers (Hi!) ever use crows to track survivors.

  • If you're already using Undying to protect your Ruin you definitely don't need Pop as a backup. I would switch it for whispers, on of Doc's best perks.

It's great for finding survivors, and you can use it to guarantee you'll get value out of your static blast since you can just wait until Whispers lights up before you let loose.

You could also use BBQ for the information and extra BP.

  • They're not actually clogging up your blood web at all. Hear me out:

The way the blood web works is that it first rolls to decide which color each item will be: iri items will be rarest, green items will be rare, and so on.

Then it rolls to decide which item among the iris/greens/etc will appear in that slot. This is why killers end up with more iri moris than green moris: iri items are rarer, but there are fewer of them than green items.

These new brown offerings aren't actually reducing your chances to tet anything except other brown items.

I also kinda like the new offerings, but mostly from the killer's side. Most of the time I go against keys now they bring a hatch offering to guarantee their escape. That's why I use Franklins now to despawn keys. Screw your fancy addons, that key is going to vanish from existence.

  • I agree. Use Franklins on keys to assure their destruction. They even negate white wards and addons that let them keep their key on death.

You'll have an easier time catching them because they'll always always come back to get their item, and by despawning it you ensure that they can't use it on the next killer they face.

  • I'm glad you posted this, because after 4 years of playing every killer I've instantly become a Blight main. He's just so fun. I seem to be losing more matches with Blight than I do with any other killer, but I don't even care because he's just so fun.

I want to play against him more. I play a lot of survivor too, but I've only gone against 3 Blights so far. The first one ragequit because he refused to let me flashlight blind him at a safe pallet and kept trying to play around it (I was doing the blind the killer challenge, FWIW).

I hope to see a lot more Blights out there and get more experience from both sides, because:

    He's

    Just

    So

    Much

    Fun

  • Hey, yeah. The new gens even have wheels. Future gameplay confirmed.

It would bring a tear to my eye to watch a Dweet surf out the exit gates on top of a slowly put-puttering gennie. And just before he rides off into the sunset he turns and points at me one last time...

  • Dead Dawg? I mean... it's kinda dark but I havent had any problems tracking survivors there. I actually enjoy that map quite a bit.

The only problem I've been seeing with lighting is going against Freddy on Yamaoka. In dreamworld it's so dark that I was literally running into walls.

Don't be insulted by this question, but are you playing in proper light conditions? Even a little bit of glare on your screen can make your experience much more difficult.

  • We just had a rank reset, so all the different ranks are getting mixed together.

I've been getting facecamped a lot, which seems super weird to me even at rank 5. It'll settle down quickly once everyone gravitates back to their normal ranks.

    Rank does matter.

Ruin is amazing if you can, you know, pressure gens (you’re actual primary objective, not “getting hooks”).

dont care to go point by point on the others.

if you actual look at the multiple reasons why ruin was nerfed, you’d see that can’t be applied to DS. And, oh yeah, DS WAS ALREADY NERFED :). If you’d like old DS back, I’d very much welcome it

Nooooo! Anything but the old DS!

That was the most busted OP perk in all of online gaming. If I have to go back to the bad old days of juggling survivors to hooks I'm seriously quitting forever.

  • @Endstille said:

I don't know why some people think that every interaction between killer and survivor is toxic. Survivors do tbag each other to say hello when they meet in the match, are you mad when you are not being greeted by a tbag? No hatch for that audacity too? Giving the no no's or nodding is also not toxic but hey to each his own, go full tilt as soon as somebody uses the crouch bind.

Those... are not the same thing. Survivors giving each other a little butt jiggle is widely accepted as their way of saying 'hello' or 'thank you' in a game that only has two emotes.

Survivors tbagging the killer is exclusively done as a way to irritate or enrage the killer. Killers shouldn't let themselves get tilted over it because tilted killers make more mistakes, but it's still BM.

Tbagging exists on a lot of different games, and it's always considered BM. It is. It just is.

Might be because as an Australian I have to deal with a lot of Chinese players.

Yeah, I'm playing on the NA servers. I can't really speak to matters onyour side of the globe.

The devs react faster to cheaters if you provide video evidence. It wouldn't hurt to get some recording software and spin it up mid-match if this is a frequent problem. Also, if you're playing on PC make sure to get their Steam ID rather than just their username. A streamer named Monto made a video on how to do this. I'll grab the url and post it below.

Noclip, speedhacks, people who can't be picked up, people who insta-heal, one guy made gens finish the instant he toucxhed them (No not BNP, this was recently) and one even instantly made us all "escape" in the middle of the match. Stop defending hacking, it makes you look suspicious.

Again, I'm not defending hacking, just noting that a lot of people on these forums are claiming to be seeing hackers when they're really not.

You, on the other hand, seem to be going against some legit cheaters. I'm kind of amazed you've gone against so many. That's really unlucky, mate.

  • @normalusername said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/discussion/comment/1626003#Comment_1626003

So you admit they exist but you don't want anything done about it? Hmm why?

That's not at all what I said. Hackers get caught and banned eventually, if not immediately. They certainly don't make the game unplayable, outside of the extremely rare matches where you go against them. I've only gone against two hackers in the past year (two survivors were both speedhacking in the same match. I know this because they were running faster than me even at bloodlust 3).

What kind of hacker have you been seing? You still haven't answered that question.

  • Mostly when I see people here complaining about cheaters it's survivors complaining that PC killers are "wallhacking". I dont know if this is your specific complaint, but aa PC killer myself I can tell you that there are myriad ways for me to find you:

    You left scratch marks.

    You startled a crow.

I can hear you breathing on the other side of a rock.

I'm using any one of the hundred or so killer abilities/perks/addons that lets me see auras/killer instinct.

I combined everything above with good game sense to figure out your location.

  • I've been seeing posts like this a lot, so here's my canned answer:

In 2k hours of playing on PC I've seen at most 5 or 6 hackers. They exist, but they're extremely rare.

You haven't provided any context for the 'hacks' you've been seeing. Are you sure they're even real? Or are you reporting your opponents because they played well?

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

If you're a well performing killer, why are you complaining about a 5 second stun?

It seems to me, if you're performing well as a killer, you shouldn't worry about a little peck that hinders you for 5 laughable seconds.

It's not about the 5 second stun. If I've been rapidly hooking people and get hit with a DS 5 seconds before it runs out it's a huge momentum killer. I either have to commit to chasing down this survivor (which will take a lot more time than 5 sec) or switch targets and get denied a hook. I wasn't tunnelling, my only mistake here was hooking people so fast I wasn't paying attention to when they were getting unhooked. The price I pay for thay is a massive swing in momentum.

I don't even mind DS in its current state. It's just that your statement is so devoid of reality it's not even wrong. It's just asinine.

  • Obviously she's moving and not standing still. She's trying to predict what you're doing and you're trying to predict what she's doing. Seems legit to me.

Killers have to make predictions about survivor movements All. The. Time. It's why you see them playing mindgames and trying to cut you off instead following directly behind you like a little lost puppy.

I guess it's only a problem when survivors have to do it too.

  • I think you might be misunderstanding how the scoring system works. A killer who ends the game in 3 minutes is also not going to get many points and is almost certainly not going to rank up.

Killers generally earn more points than survivors in any given match; this is perfectly cromulant since playing killer takes way more effort than playing survivor. But killers are working under the same imperfect emblem system that survivors are using.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 15
