  • If you're going to main Pig you must accept snoot boops.

    It's the law.

    Otherwise, have fun!

  • As a killer main who slugs liberally (hey, it's preferrable to camping/tunnelling), I dont see this as a big deal.

Slugging is a legit strategy, but if survivors bring anti-slugging perks thats also a legit strategy. Plus if they pallet stun you with Power Struggle the stun won't be as long as DS (I would think). Just catch up and down them again.

  • According to the stats the devs released last month Piggy has one of the highest kill rates in the game. It's not hard to see why:

Her hats give the killer instant slowdown by forcing them survivors to do tasks other than gens, and occasionally even gets her free kills.

Her stealth power is just sort of okay, and is pretty easy for good survivors to counter. I wish she had more addons that affect her stealth/dash. The only ones she currently has are yellow and brown tier.

  • Franklin's is the best way to deal with keys, period. I've had a couple occasions recently where someone brought a key with a white ward (to protect the key if they die) and whatever that addon is that also lets them keep the key if they die. Then when I knock it outbof their hand they'll DC or suicide thinking they get to keep their key after they die. And then the salt begins.

Other than that I'll only bring Franklins if there's 3 or more lunchboxes. There's no point wasting a perk slot for a single medkit, and I honestly don't care if aurvivors bring flashies, maps, or toolboxes.

  • @Mushwin said:

    Nah a speculation.

It's just a joke. Curse Rotted Greatwood is one of the largest bosses in DS3. He's over 5 meters wide and over 20 meters tall, so he wouldn't be able to enter buildings or fit through doors.

Interestingly, I've always noted a largweoverlap between hardcore DBD players and hardcore Fromsoft addicts. I myself count among their number. I wonder what the connection is?

  • DBD is a perfect game with no bugs.

Maybe try not to be such a dirty hacker next time.

  • I'm down for this, especially if it means I can put downed survivors in my transposing kiln to get sweet items.

  • I hear they're still collecting data for the MMR, and plan to implement it soon.

So, yeah, I don't like it, but I'm willing to live with it if we get a (working) MMR soon.

  • There might be some latency issues at play here, but otherwise this is the game working as intended.

You get locked in place by the animation while dropping a pallet, and killers have a very brief window in which they can hit you before the pallet falls.

You might need to drop pallets a little earlier, especially if you think you're going against someone with high latency.

  • By a staggering coincidence, I was just discussing the uktimate solo Q support build. I call it the Tactical Officer:

    Bond

    Kindred

    Windows of Opportunity

    Open Handed.

The aura reading buffs you get from Open Handed are completely underrated. Open-handed + Kindred lets you see the killer's aura within 12 meters of a hooked survivor, which is busted. And with Bond you can see yhe auras of survivors on the moon.

  • Here's a crazy idea: don't use either. Run Enduring by itself.

    NOW HEAR ME OUT!

Lots of people above have talked about how Spirit Fury doesn't work twice against good teams, but I've found it doesn't often work more than twice against even BAD teams. All in all you get very little value out of that combo.

The problem I have with Brutal is that it conditions you to stop and break every pallet. But with Endurong you don't need to break the pallet. That's the point of the perk. Unless the pallet is super safe just run around it and keep up the chase. If they run for the next loop you'll catch them immediately because you had 0 time stunned, and if they keep trying to run the same pallet you'll catch up to them immediately because you had 0 time stunned. It's a win win.

  • 1) I haven't seen the kind of behavior you're talking about, and I've been playing on PC for 4 years. Are you playing at lower ranks? Because killers tend to camp and use NOED above rank 10, but settle down once you reach green/purple ranks.

    2) How do you know this is exclusively PC players? All you can say for sure is that they're on a different platform. I hear people say occasionally that they know people are on PC because they have spaces in their names, but Xbox players can do that too.

    3) If you're struggling to deal with campers there's a lot of counterplay. Loads of people run BT/DS for this very reason. If the killer is facecamping you can split up and slam out gens and still win. You need to adapt to the killer.

  • What is with all of this guff about "infinite loops" on Macmillain that can be rendered completely weak by taking 2.5 seconds to break a wall right next to it.

"This window vault is completely broken!" *crack* *crunch* "Oh wait, nevermind."

  • Survivors body blocking and using second chance perks can feel very frustrating, but it's not actually toxic behavior. Body blocking is actually good gameplay from the survivor's perspective if they do it well. They're trying to get good plays (or farm WGLF stacks for extra BP), which again can feel frustrating but doesn't mean they're trying to bully you.

Body blocking is a strategy that the devs intend for survivors to employ. That's why they give people extra BP for taking protection hits.

Well, if they do Balance Changes to Ormond as well, nobody should call the Devs Survivor-biased anymore, because Shelter Woods did not receive any changes with the Graphical Update.

    @Topic:

Even if it is only a Graphical Update, I would prefer Ormond. The Map looks horrible, the most ugly Map in DBD IMO.

Really? Shelter Woods seems to be a bit more populated now than it used to be. Fewer dead zones for my Blight to dominate in. Even the "main building" tree has a pallet now iirc.

  • I'm pretty sure the increased load times are a result of the graphics overhaul, not crossplay.

I've been against some pretty darned good console survivors. I've seen plenty of potatoes too, but it's not like console has a monopoly on root vegetable players.

I've met loads of people playing cross-friends on different platforms, which is always nice. And it seems like console SWFs have adapted well to playing against the PC crowd. In the early days I was constantly going against console teams who would follow behind me to the hook thinking that I wasn't wearing headphones and couldn't hear them... or trying to 360 instead of looping because apparently that's hard for people with controllers to deal with. Now they know not to try that.

  • I'm all for Ormond. Hopefully they reduce the size a bit, and reduce the clown-car menagerie of super-safe pallets that spawn 5 meters away from each other. And add some breakable walls to the MB to make it less nightmarish for killers. And fix the wonky scratch marks on snow.

But hey! I really like the new sounds they've added for survivors crunching theough snow, so... there's that.

  • Blight is okay on Haddonfield. His power is terrible once people go in buildings, but once survivors have to run along those terrible fences? Those spots are Blight City for easy hits. I've found I can even 180 to the opposite side of a fence by bouncing off a fencepost and repositioning before starting my next rush. It just takes skill and practice, which in all honesty Blight needs a lot of to begin with.

I think people forget that Blight is still a 115 killer even with his power off. If you're in a spot where you can't use your power just chase normally and you'll either catch them or drive them somewhere that's more favorable to your ability.

  • I saw someone the other day wearing the Halloween corset with pink hair... and jean shorts.

    Ew... no. Stop.

  • Legion seems to be in a pretty healthy place right now, especially compared to his past incarnations.

In a related note it seems weird to me that so many people despise holding m1 to mend, but don't seem to mind holding m1 to do gens... or holding m1 to heal... or holding m1 to open gates... or to open chests... or to recover... or to get their Piggy hats off... or to snap out of it.

  • Blight and Oni are slightly harder to play. Blight especially, as he requires a lot of map knowledge.

Doctor and Legion are both mid to high tier killers that are easy to pick up. Doctor has Monitor and Abuse as a teachable perk, while Legion has Discordance.

Maybe you'd enjoy Hag? She's a little harder to learn, but she's one of the best killers AND has one of the lowest pick rates. A lot of newer survivors see her so rarely that they don't know how to play against her. She also comes with Hex: Ruin as a teachable, which is a nasty good perk (when it lasts).

Just because someone isnt nice and doing it to be toxic doesn't mean everyone is,I teabag to a killer but it's only cos I've been out done and the killers is stood there, I do it to say well done u got me.

Maybe that's what you're trying to communicate, but the killer has no way of knowing that. All they will see is another survivor t-bagging. There's no way to contextualize that. If you give a teammate a few booty shakes they know you're saying "hi" or "thank you" because that's the widely accepted meaning of the gesture. If you t-bag the killer they're going to think you're BMing because that's the widely accepted meaning of the gesture. Not even just in DBD, but in pretty much every online game that has a crouch button.

If you want to be nice to the killer give them your item, or try booping them. Or, I don't know, just say "gg" in the chat if they're on PC.

  • That's a pretty specific scenario you're bringing up. I would imagine it doesn't happen all that often.

As far as Soul Guard goes, the counter to it is that it only gives endurance (the free hit he gets) for 8 seconds. If you wait out the 8 seconds you can just down him again. In this case you could literally just stand on the hatch. It'll prevent him from opening it and escaping, then once his armor is gone you can down him and kill him. You'll know survivors have Soul Guard because they'll have a compulsive need to run straight at you the moment they heal off the ground.

If I see a key in my lobby I'll always bring Franklin's and despawn the key. It not only prevents them from using it but counters their addons/White Wards that allow them to keep it even if they die.

  • I say GG and enjoy the feeling of playing against a skilled opponent.

  • Pretty sure Spine Chill and Resilience will increase the speed you cleanse totems. So that's also a thing.

You'll need to be injured and have the killer watching you, but you will indeed cleanse faster.

  • Sigh... when you Tbag the killer you're being toxic. When you Tbag other survivors you're just shaking your booty to say hi or thank you or whatever. the game doesn't have many gestures. It's a completely different scenario. This is pretty common knowledge. If you Tbag the killer you're just being toxic. Just now I had a survivor Tbag me after getting the hatch when her team didn't get a single gen done.

She wasn't being nice. She wasn't saying thank you. She wasn't saying well done. She was taunting me for not being able to kill her in a match where her team didn't finish a single gen. Boy do I feel chastised.

The point of my post was just to point out that forcing a killer to eat DS can often be what causes the killer to tunnel you in the future. In my example, Tofu wouldve probably slugged the survivor if he managed to down them after their 2nd hook, but because he KNEW they no longer had DS... there was no longer a reason for him to do so other than if your just trying to be nice. Frankly, if someone is forcing a DS on me by hoping in a locker rather than TRYING to run away... That politeness goes away once they come off their next hook.

Well then we are in agreement my friend. I guess I misunderstood. The ultimate moral of this story is that it's not about the perks; it's about the playstyle.

Do check out the Farmerjohn video though if you have a few minutes to spare. It's perhaps the most potent and hilarious example I've ever seen of a bully squad failing by every measure.

Basicly, lol. I remember watching an Ohtofu vid where someone was being dumb and forced a DS after their first hook. Tofu started going after 1 of the 2 other survivors he had spotted by the hook, but the freshly hooked guy still wouldnt do anything but hug a locker. Tofu went ahead and ate the DS, then openly tunneled the guy off his 2nd hook because he KNEW DS was no longer an issue for that guy.

That's different. I do the same thing as killer. I won't tunnel survivors under almost any other circumstances, but if you jump into a locker and intentionally waste my time and force me to disarm your anti-tunnel perk, I'm going to consider it open season on targeting you. If you just run away I'll chase the teammate who unhooked you 100% of the time and you can save your DS for later when it might be useful (it won't, but at least you won't have a target on your back).

It's the difference between people bringing DS as insurance against tunneling killers and people who use DS as 60 seconds of invulnerability in which they can pester the killer.

I <3 Ohtofu, but check out this hilarious Farmerjohn video to see exactly what I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pci0ngf8ys0

3 SWF survivors playing Second Chance Perks: The Musical, but doing it all wrong and getting hard countered.

  • I'm actually going back and prestiging all my killers now after having already maxed them all out. I'm mostly doing it for the challenge, and to have a new long term goal in the game. I'm starting with the licenced killers since I haven't bought any cosmetics for them anyways.

I don't consider it a waste of add-ons/offerings since I've never run out of any add-ons or any offerings for any killer ever. And I'll be getting plenty of new ones grinding my way back to max perks. I am trying to use up all my BPS/cakes before prestiging though.

Prestiging isn't for everyone, just for hardcore completionists. I've honestly made it way harder for myself by maxing out characters BEFORE prestiging them. I P3ed Blight when he released because I love him so much. It was my first time prestiging a killer since OG Doctor. I may do it with new killers from now on.

    Can we change the fact that once you have it you can never get it off. It not like I’m going stay sane for long. Or at least let me snap out of it at tier two as well. It makes no sense that I’m only able to make myself less crazy when I’m at my craziest. The Doctor can easily put me into higher tiers but unless I’m screaming my head off, I can’t snap myself out of it. Please I just want this. ;-;

This OP seems new to the game. No offense, friend. We all have to start somewhere. Before his rework a year ago, Snapping Out of It only dropped you to Tier II madness, and Doctor's afflictions started affecting you at Tier 1. So once you hit Tier II madness for the first time you were stuck there forever.

After his rework it's the opposite: you can Snap Out of It down to Tier I and his addons only start afflicting you at Tier II.

Learn to love the madness. It adds some unique elements into a match and actually makes skill checks interesting rather than rote. I wish more killers had unique powers like this.

  • It's totally normal to see gens pop early on. The early gens always take less time to complete than the last gens.

The more gens they complete, the fewer you have to patrol. When the match starts, they're all healthy and can focus on OBJ. As the match progresses and you get hooks/downs, they'll have to spend more and more time saving and healing. The longer the match goes, the fewer pallets they have to run to. And on and on.

Sorry if I'm being brief here but I've explained this rather a lot on these forums. You'll almost always lose the first 1-3 gens very quickly, but can hold the last gens if you're playing well (and failing that you can snowball all 4 survivors at once). I recently had a match where the survivors brought a purple shroud and 3 BNPs and popped the 1st gen in 27 seconds (I timed it). They got the second gen 60 seconds later. By the time I killed all of them they were still at 2 gens completed.

Don't stress the early gens. Gen times are fine.

  • I also had a survivor get stuck in that exact spot the other night. They were the last survivor anyways, so I just carried them to hatch.

New hill glitch? The old one was around for so long that I actually started blaming survivors who got stuck. Like, it's been 3 months. You gotta know by now not to walk into that spot.

  • Yawn.

Another "I hate ____ killer" thread. I play every killer in the game and I get rage about choosing every single one of them. Oh, except Demo. Nobody hates going against Demo because Demo... sucks. He's just bottom tier. No offense Demo mains.

I've long since stopped caring which killers you have a personal distaste for. Impossible Skill-Check Doctor is hilarious, involves no meta perks, and wins me loads of matches. I'm gonna stick with it, thank-you-very-much.

WOAH!! I faced a Bubba with the serum last week!! He nyoomed over to me when I was the last survivor and I couldn't stop laughing at the animation and the lil 'bwomp' sound he made when he hit the wall!! That doc build already has me screaming, you don't need to shock anyone to find their location with that... *furiously scribbles down notes for when I practice doctor*

Impossible skill check Doc is a classic build, adapted from before his re-work. Make sure you use the "calm" addons. With both calm addons your terror radius will reach 54 meters (!). As soon as the match begins walk to the center of the map and let rip with your static blast. Then once you get everyone to madness II hold your static blast to keep your terror radius large and inflict Unnerving on everyone. The classic build has Overcharge instead of Sloppy Butcher but if you're feeling extra spicy try out Coulrophobia.

  • For survivor I'm currently running the classic locker houdini: detective's hunch, quick and quiet, inner strength, head on. I'm occasionally a big fan of peebles though.

    For killers:

My Blight is currently mixing it up with the Iri blight tag and BBQ, Pop, Discordance, and Tinkerer.

My Bubba is a complete madman who's addicted to blight serum and is running BBQ, Pop, Ruin, Surveillance. That's right! Ruin and Pop in the same build! I TOLD YOU HE'S A MADMAN!

My Legion is feeling a bit mean and is running Ruin, Undying, TOTH, and Tinkerer.

My Doc knows nothing but impossible skill checks: Distressing, Lullaby, Unnerving, and Sloppy Butcher (no Overcharge).

My Freddy is hard memeing and is using BBQ and Overcharge. That's it. No addons.

  • There's a "block player" function on PC. It might only block messages though? I'm actually not sure.

  • Just yesterday I had a match where all 4 survivors brought BPS. We went up against a Deathslinger on Mother's Dwelling. He played pretty well and by the time the last gen popped he had several of us on death hook, but... ya know. Slow killer on the biggest map in the game.

We body blocked for each other to get to the exit gates (yay protection hits!), but when two of my teammates left I decided that I had had a fun match and rushed the killer headlong to let him kill me.

Instead he shot me with his spear gun but didn't reel, and I didn't struggle, so he started dragging me through the map while we headbanged at each other. Nancy showed up to see what was happening and started headbanging with us, so we had ourselves a little EGC rave. Eventually he (literally) dragged me out the gate so I could live.

It was a truly precious moment, and I got 167k BP for the match!

  • I used to main OG Freddy. He was fun, but was he "completely different"?

No. He was still just a M1 killer, but a lot weaker. You had to wait 7 seconds after putting a survivor to sleep before you could attack them, and survivors could wake themselves up mid-chase with self-care (which was a huge part of the meta back then).

  • Remember the "unexpected benefits" the devs promised in the blighted serum text (I forget the exact wording)?

Turns out if you use blight serum on Blight with the blighted crow (the addon that increases your movement speed with each consecutive rush) you'll move so fast on your final rush that you'll break the sound barrier and create a sonic boom that permanently deafens survivors.

    It's true. Try it out.

  • @Xbob42 said:

I don't find them useful on Blight. Extra rush tokens are nowhere near as good as just recharging my power faster.

Agreed. 5 rushes can take you all the way across Mother's Dwelling, aka the biggest map in the game. You really don't need more mobility than that.

Plus you're never going to need to bounce 5 times in a chase.

  • Lies.

Everyone knows Daddy Myers is 12'.

    Challenge me. I dare you!

So, like the Doctors effect? That's all fine by me. I don't do good in loops in things so real or fake it doesn't change my situation. 😊

They're a bit more powerful than Doctor's Restraint addon. With Doc's illusory pallets they dissappear the moment you walk by them. Freddy's explode into a shower of blood when you drop them. Which can be funny, yeah, but it can also be easily countered.

You only see fake pallets when you're asleep, so if you scout pallets while awake you'll rarely be fooled. And he has to set his fake pallets manually, so if you see one while not in chase you can drop it to get rid of it.

AND on a lot of tiles where pallets are quaranteed to spawn he can only place a fake once the real pallet has been dropped and broken. If you run to a jungle gym/killer shack early on in the game it's practically a guarantee that those pallets are real.

  • @Buttercake said:

I dont know what pallet Freddy is. I'm new to facing him cause I'm on Switch...

Pallet Freddy are the 3 (!) addons that replace his snares with fake pallets.

They're nowhere near as strong as his snares, but they are more fun so a lot of people use them.

  • Yep. They took me a few matches to adjust to, but they can be very useful, plus there's very few things in this game as funny as making Big Man Bubba yeet himself 20 meters at a survivor.

I've seen vids of people using it with T3 Myrrs to make some truly scary plays.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

Before we begin, take anything I say with a grain of salt. I'm a very casual player and enjoy memeing when I play Killer as much as actually playing for real. My favorite build to play is Freddy loaded with Terror Radius perks, for example.

Regarding what Killer to play, I tend to advocate playing the Killer(s) you most enjoy, reputation or strengths/weaknesses be damned. You like playing Clown, play Clown. Playing the strongest killer in the game feels pointless if you don't actually enjoy and/or aren't good at playing as them. In this case, though, that might not be helpful advice since you're still having trouble and want to try new Killers anyway. I just wanted to put that out there.

The first thing I'd toss out is for you to consider what your specific weaknesses are, playstyle-wise. That can help you find (a) which Killers most or least complement it, and (b) give you an idea of what builds to consider.

For example, it sounds like getting gen-rushed is your biggest problem, look closer at Perks like Pop Goes the Weasel, Corrupt Intervention, or Hex: Ruin. Can probably look at Addons that can slow other things down like Sulphuric Acid Vial for healing.

If Items are a big issue, look at perks like Franklin's Demise, or Lightborn if you see a bunch of keys.

Speaking for myself, I consider myself weak at tracking. This is at least one reason I like playing the Doctor. Other killers I try to keep a solid tracking perk ready to go. Spies from the Shadow isn't rated high but it's worked great for me in the past. Similarly Bloodhound is nice once in a while. Predator not so much since scratch marks usually aren't an issue for me.

The best advice I can think of is build around your personal playstyle.

    So.....

You know Terror Radius perks don't work on survivors who are asleep, right?

When a survivor enters the dream world they gain the Oblivious status, which makes them unable to hear your terror radius. Instead they hear a "lullaby" (Freddy's theme song) which is locked at 32m.

Your perks are only affecting survivors for a small portion of the game.

  • 90% of the Freddies I face are pallet Freddies, and 90% of the pallet Freddies I face use NOED.

And then I win, because nobody's afraid of fake pallets anymore and everyone knows how to find totems rhanks to Ruin/Undying.

  • Pig OP? Yet another survivor who has yet to learn that the Pig is contractually obligated to let you escape if you boop her snoot.

  • Currently I love Discordance. But I am fickle and my tastes are known to change.

For survivor maybe Quick and Quiet for the fancy jukes.

  • Trapper: Stepping into your own trap is now a scoring event. This score is doubled if a survivor points and laughs at you.

  • 1) When you're using your frenzy, TAKE YOUR TIME and be precise. Your power lasts longer than you think even without addons. If you miss a hit or get pallet stunned you lose your power. Respect pallets a little and take the extra second to ensure you don't whiff. This is by far the most important thing to learn for new Legions.

    2) When you activate your power you can't see scratch marks, so don't pop it until you're within 5-10 meters of a survivor. This will prevent them from bamboozling you and making you waste your frenzy.

    3) Your Killer Instinct (the heartbeats you see) don't give you any range, and if a survivor is far enough and holding W (running away from you, in PC lingo) you won't be able to catch them. Don't be afraid to turn your power off to reduce your cooldown if a survivor is too far to reach. At the same time, if you deactivate your power right next to a survivor they'll know you want to chase them. One trick that works well for me is to frenzy someone, run away to "chase" their teammate, then switch off your power and come back to find them mending. This works especially well if they're in the corner of the map or at an unsafe loop, and also if tou use M&A to alter your terror radius.

    4) Don't underestimate the information Legion gets from Killer instinct. If an injured survivor drops a super-safe pallet, I'll sometimes hit my power and put them into Deep Wound just to see if other survivors are nearby.

    5) Find good perks that sunergize with Legions power. I like to use Blood Echo and Dark Devotion to let me sneak up on survivors who I've seen with Killer Instinct and deprive them of their exhaustion perks. You'll find perks you like ith experimentation.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope it helps.
