but this looks a lot like Blight. In terms of figure, the Skin would fit more on Blight than on Nemesis. And the first picture looks a bit like the Halloween blighted Skin for Blight.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3Y4OLMYN5I24/blight.png
It's not about looks. It's about fitting. Wouldn't fit well for Blight with how she works. I mean it makes sense for Nemesis since she was basically the original version of Nemesis back in RE1. She is the whole reason he was created as you can see by her tentacles and in the game she basically WILL NOT die.

Well then what about William birkin
He doesn't have any tentacles in his specific early forms that he uses. I'm mainly saying these wouldn't happen because of Capcom. I don't think they would allow it. I don't think they would Lisa either though.

He doesn't really fit Nemesis at all so I don't think we will ever see him. I'd rather have him as a full on new killer.

Why?
Neither RPD nor the Mansion need to be as enormous or frustrating as they are.
RPD could honestly be fixed by adding some more holes to barriers near vaults (far too many pseudo-infinites created by little offices with 2 vault-only entrances, both vaults separated on the outside by a long barrier and easily chained into a third vault nearby, then back again) and converting a few of the vaults on upper floors into drops. Oh, and probably shaving off about 33% of the thing.
RPD has both the Haddonfield problems (too many freebie gens, too many safe pallets and vaults) and the Badham problem (a single incredibly powerful loop easily accessible from most spots on the map).
The maps aren't maps from Dead by Daylight. It's obvious why they are this big. Now I can understand why people don't !like that and I have come up with simple fixes by making 2 versions where one side is locked off and the main hall is always present.

The Mansion.
But the issue isn't that it's RPD in and of itself. I like the idea of the map. The issue is that it's too big, too winding, has a near-infinite and the gens are too safe.
Yes, it's emphatically okay if you are playing a specific sort of killer (one with a good anti-loop) and pick a perk like LP every single game, but my guess is that you are playing Nemesis (and I may be getting crazy in my old age, but everyone in this thread defending RPD has a Nemesis avatar).
In which case...duh? One of the best, if not the best anti-loop killer in the game.
The exact hard-counter to vaults.
How exactly do you handle the office infinite (multiple, extremely safe vaults separated by barriers that you can see through) on an M1 killer, when everyone just runs there? I'd love to hear your answer, but I doubt I will.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2618237#Comment_2618237
Badham is at least predictable. You know the basement gen is a lost cause, you know that people are going to run right to the fence.
Depending on where you spawn, it's entirely possible to go the completely correct direction from the start and still lose the generator before you get there, only to have survivors run you directly to the hub, then the office. And once they are in there, you'll need BL3 or for them to make a huge mistake.
The Mansion would be like getting stabbed in the ass in real life for those who don't like playing RPD even now. That map would have so many problems in it's design for DBD as well as being absolutely humongous and EVEN MORE confusing.

In that case, I'd probably design Nemesis to focus on him transforming into something more adaptive and dangerous over time. This isn't super well thought out, but even if the scale of his transformations in RE3 wouldn't fit the DBD map, I think something that changes not only his powers but his model (noticeably, not just some boils on his fist) would be really cool.
He keeps his tier system, but it's progressed in a different way - perhaps gens being done, perhaps number of landed attacks or hooks, perhaps it's just a flat time limit and the longer the trial goes the more dangerous he gets, but he'd start with a 16m TR and an extremely underwhelming power (if he even has one at all in the first stage) and gradually ramp up - both in strength and TR (and perhaps the TR climbing above 32m at its peak.) So a bit like Myers in concept, except instead of raw stat boosts, it's abilities he unlocks. Possibly even abilities replacing each other if having several concurrently would be too powerful or unwieldy. In his phases you could have a rush attack, the tentacle (with less range or quick draw than it is now to balance it out), and something deadly in his final tier. If a >115% movement speed was at all possible to balance, I'd love to see it, but I'm skeptical that it is - an instadown's the simpler, if already done to death, option. If he still breaks pallets, I think that should be with a charge attack and not the tentacle. And I think I'd scrap the idea of infecting survivors with the T-virus entirely, because you can't really do 'survivors infected with a zombie virus' properly without that being the killer's entire power, and it's mostly tangential to Nemesis anyway.
But pretty much the thing I'd want to see is Nemesis getting more brutal and threatening as the match goes on.
Not a bad idea. I always liked an idea for a killer to be extremely strong by the end. The only thing is I feel that fits for more of a character like Birkin. Sure it fits Nemesis to but Birkin is more built completely around the mutation stuff. Yeah Nemesis goes through it a lot to but not as much and as iconic as Birkin.

The Blighted Serum replaces his power when he has charges, it's a pretty clunky way of doing it that works for a Halloween gimmick but doesn't work at all as a basekit addition. Even with that in mind, too, the Blighted Serum actually is really strong in a lot of cases, which is why it's only active for an event and not year-round.
Well obviously it would take some tweaks. Just make it a different button. There ya go. Done and fixed.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2618752#Comment_2618752
Slapping the rush onto his current basekit would make him stupidly OP, he's already a pretty strong Killer. It'd have to replace his current power, and while that could work, it's no more accurate than the power that he does have.
Sometimes they have to take some liberties and retool things to fit- they did it with Pyramid Head and Pinhead too, this is just a necessary facet of translating characters as killers. With those restrictions in mind, Nemesis is pretty damn good, I don't think they could've done it better- maybe slightly more accurate, but in a way that's far less unique and fun to play.
Have you even used the blighted serum on him? Who would ever think it is op and wouldn't make him more accurate.?
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2618741#Comment_2618741
You've got to be joking, right? You'd have to weaken them to the point that they'd be pointless to use, not to mention that a rocket launcher clearly doesn't fit within DBD's tone and aesthetic. There's only one killer who even has a gun, and that's both a wild west rifle and a speargun, not a regular gun.
If the only way to make Nemesis accurate is to use a rocket launcher then Nemesis straight up doesn't belong in DBD.
A rocket launcher is simple. No need to severely nerf it. Doesn't make any sense. And the rocket launcher probably fits more than the zombies. Well luckily for me it isn't the only way to make him accurate. That's why you add the blighted rush to his current power basekit and swap the run animation from his normal movement animation to only being in the rush.
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2618734#Comment_2618734
You're missing the point- the rush is the only thing they could do, and it isn't necessarily more accurate so much as it's just a different accurate choice to make. They can't do the weaponry because it'd either be stupidly OP or pointless and clunky, they can't do the leap because the maps simply aren't designed for it, they could choose to make him rush but that wouldn't work on top of his current power so it'd have the be the main thing that he does...
You say he's a simple character to do right, but... is he? What about him could they add that wouldn't only be literally possible, but better to play than what we have? The only aspect I see is the rush, and he's hardly "less accurate" because you would've preferred that.
Explain how his weapons are op as his rocket launcher can fit perfectly. All you need is the right balance which some people just fail to forget. It's not like he'll be shooting rockets all day long. It's obvious he'll have a cooldown or requirements.
-
@jesterkind said:

We'll have to agree to disagree on the percentages, I think this evokes Nemesis just fine, but the overall point is that there are elements of Nemesis that simply cannot be translated, like his weaponry or arguably the leaping that he does. A rush could've been included, but there are already killers that function like that and it seems like wasted opportunity to just do that again.
Even if this is a pale and insulting imitation of the "real Nemesis", then... the answer is very clearly that they should've picked a different character to translate, and I'd actually support that. The best options for DBD are and always have been Jack Baker or Lady Dimitrescu, maybe Heisenberg if they could figure something out for him.
Nemesis is such a simple character to do right. The argument that " Some killers already rush" or whatever doesn't matter because guess what? People said the same exact thing about Blight and Oni but guess what? People love them now right? That is because just because they run doesn't mean they aren't unique. The run works different. Same case for Nemesis. They just didn't bother. Plus it's a license. You gotta make them similar. Zombies have nothing to do with him. He only HAS the tentacle which he uses a slight bit but he still uses it incorrectly. He like... Slaps them? What?
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2618701#Comment_2618701
Definitely a good take.
I think the only other thing from RE3 that they could translate is that, iirc, there's a scene where Nemesis mutates a zombie into a bigger and more dangerous one, but I'm pretty sure the zombies were already pretty hard to code so that one seems like it might also be a nonstarter. All in all, the Nemesis we got is already pretty good- a strong and fun killer that evokes his source material competently.
They can't all be Michael, sometimes liberties gotta be taken.
I don't expect Michael level. I expect at least 25% of Nemesis in his power. I got about 5%. :\
-
@WishIcouldmain said:
A rush like with Blighted serum and he can access his weapons. That would probably mean the zombies would go though
I love using the blighted serum on him. Wish I could keep getting them forever.
-
@Laluzi said:
It's one thing to try to reimagine Nemesis, but the restrictions you've provided don't allow room for that. The zombies are easily the lesser portion of Nemesis's power - the tentacle is the bulk of his strength, and contamination is a system meant to limit its power rather than strengthen it. The point is, you can't really keep the tentacle and add anything meaningful onto his power, because being able to hit survivors through windows and pallets with really high reactivity and break pallets with very little time investment is a big deal.
Nemesis is just way too dangerous in his 'real' incarnation to be translated properly to DBD. It's like a reverse power creep. He's not something that can be handled by a group of four ordinary people, some pallets, and a flashlight, but to be in DBD he has to be. Add in that there are already killers that do full-tilt charging around and killers can't just be reskins of previous killers, and adding a rush ability on top of a ranged attack would be highly unbalanced (to say nothing of a rocket launcher, or mutating into a massive monster as the match goes on) and yeah.
That's why I edited to remove them.

I never had a problem getting hooks on the Game, I think because most of the openings between rooms are fairly wide and it’s not that hard to get around within the same level. It can be a little tricky finding the stairs up from the lower level sometimes if you get confused, but otherwise it’s not that bad. My one gripe about The Game was that the lower level used to be insanely dark in some places, to the point that I had to chase survivors entirely by ear. The newer version seems much better in that respect though, the lighting on the lower level is significantly improved. (I also like how The Game has metal doors that open when generators are completed, kind of a nice touch. 🙂)
Yeah I was just using it as an example if a similar feeling I had about the game that you probably have with RPD.

It is all subjective, but there is just no way it is as bad as Badham. I would rather be forced to play RPD for 3 games every session than play Badham once every 3 play sessions.
Badham is just gross to play on. I just feel gross all the time on that map. I honestly think if people really take a look at it and just think Badham is way worse to play on. Not for balance necessarily but just feels AWFUL.

@dugman said:
RPD is a map that I want to love, because it has a cool aesthetic and a different sort of layout from other indoor maps. But man is it frustrating sometimes figuring out how to get around! I’m sure if I play it more that problem will sort itself out as I learn the layout but I’ve been unable to reach hooks multiple times on it which is super frustrating. I don’t have much problem getting hooks on any other indoor map, but between the convoluted twisting side halls, narrow doorways, stairs in odd places and occasional dead end rooms it’s pretty rough.
Hopefully once I’ve played on it more that weird layout won’t annoy me as much, but currently it’s one of my most stressful maps. (I still hate corn more though!)
Yeah once you figure it out you'll be fine. I thought it was ok before but once I figured it out it was a blast. I still have to have a different mindset sort of but I always did on that map since I am a huge RE fan. But for example I had the same problem on the Game rework. I kept losing survivors on my shoulder because the damn breakable walls I had to drop and break and lost them. I didn't know how to do it anymore but I ended up figuring things out and now personally I love The Game because it's not really insanely hard. Especailly love it as killer.

Then make a better Resident Evil map.
RPD is so big and convoluted that it could almost be split into two maps on it's own.
As it stands, it's probably the worst map in the game. And with Badham and Haddonfield existing, that's saying something.
I'd like you to choose a better RE map that also fits with DBD's lore. It's unique. People need to chill the hell out about it. Once I learned the loadout I wreck on that map. I love it. From my experience getting 100% and hundred of hours on most main RE games there really isn't any better maps for the people that don't like it. Like I absolutely hate Hawkins personally. I do not want it removed. It's not like I get it every game and when I do I just play differently. For fun. That's just whay people have to deal with. It's nowehere near as bad as some exaggerate. But anyways I'll bring up a list of maps that some might say would fit better and I'll be realistic about what maps had any chance based on what we have with the chapter right now.
Raccoon City (RE3)
The Village (RE4)
The Village (RE5)
This is all assuming they would go super accurate with these maps as well
Raccoon City might sound good on paper from RE3R but trust me. It would go from people saying it's survivor sided to being more killer sided than Dead Dawg by a mile. It's EXTREMELY small and EXTREMELY tight. Survivor should be #########. It's an outdoor map that feels indoors anyways.
The Village from RE4. Better than RPD. Very weird layout for DBD though. Also has the problem of being really small and linear. If the killer wants to get to a gen, he'll get there because he just wants to easily. I
The Village from RE5 is probably even tighter than that. Extremely poor layout for DBD in my opinion.
The problem with the last 2 maps are that why would they choose RE4 and RE5 anyways? So we could cross thos off as possibilities anyways. So it's basically just RPD and Raccoon City. Only 1 is fitting.

Yes, but what content? Extra modes would at best be an amusing oddity, there's not that much they can do there, so what are they supposed to add? Just any example, I'm curious.
Well new modes. That's mainly what I want. New side things to be able to do as well. More for your grind. Like free content. Like unlockable moris or do it like Friday the 13th where you can do environmental. Small things like that are really cool to me and add a lot. Easy to do, very effective.
-

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2615393#Comment_2615393
Right, but... aside from extra modes, what could they add? Each new killer adds in new fundamental mechanics (for the most part, and even repeated mechanics function differently) so that's obviously meaningful content, so even that is already pretty decent.
Seriously, though, what are you saying that DBD is lacking, if it's not extra modes?
It's just lacking stuff. That's it. All we get is new killers and maps. I'm not saying I don't like this game. In fact I play it a lot. I love it. I'm just saying I think the other games are simply better for doing the things DBD gets wrong right. Like content mainly.
-
@jesterkind said:
What I'm getting from this is that apparently the only way for a game to have "meaningful content" is if it includes arbitrary extra modes, regardless of whether they're fitting or appropriate for the game...?
Nope. But all DBD adds is new killers and new maps. Those are the 2 biggest things. Bare minimum that other games could crank out way faster and did. I mean REsistance had HUGE content updates every month until they stopped it.

I mean if anything I think you have proven with your post that DBD is actually the strongest out of that list. Because has simple as the formula is people still here and keep coming back for more. Not to mention out of all of those games, it's the one that has remained alive.
I have over 1k hours on Friday13th and even I can admit that once the game stopped creating content it was doomed. It was probably the one that came closest to creating competition for DBD because it had things that were different, not because it had "better" things.
At the end of the day, the one thing I agree with, and that is supporting comparing games especially when they are so different. Comparing content is meaningless if it has no one to cater to.
I don't get why people say the others are dead. I find matches very quickly in all of them.

More content than DBD? Which game has more than Bubba, Myer, Freddy Silent hill, Resident evil, Saw, ghost face, stranger things...
No game will ever beat DBD in content. Theyre 5 years ahead.
Gameplay however. Really shallow. Gen to gate, obsession to totems.
But because a player can "customize 20% of a match" with their own choice of character, perk, addon, offering... Makes 2 matches never be the same. Is why watching DBD gameplay from streamers is so fun, its always full of surprise.
You got hit and down while vaulting, then Adrenaline kick in and disappear when killer on cool down. You wil never see that kind of moment in other game.
You can customize 100% of the matches basically in the other games which gives even more variety for streamers. Also just because Myers and stuff is in the game, they don't count as more killers than the originals. Sure they are very cool to have but they aren't the equivalent of 2 killers worth of content or something. Still just 1 killer. Like EVERY killer.

But there's so many killers, survivors, items, add-ons, offerings, and maps to use. Add that on top of randomized loops spawns. There's basically infinite possibilities. That's not much when compared to games outside of the multiplayer horror genre, but within this genre it's a lot.
Survivors are all just skins. In all these other games they actually have personality and unique skills. So DBD gets the short end with that. These other games also have a lot more items. Offerings... Ok? They aren't that impressive. Maps, sure DBD has a lot but there are ones that aren't good so I'd only focus on the good ones. Randomized loops is ttheue equivalent to everything being randomized in these other games. Spawn locations of useful items. As for killers it's more about how the general gameplay feels and that is the super subjective part. I love all 4 of the games. Not everyone is gonna like it because they like 1 specific game's gameplay.

Dbd has a lot of issues and in the video game world in general I'd say it's weaker than most other big title games. But to say it's weak in this specific genre is total bs. Most of the other games in this genre are absolutley terrible. Poorly made, unoriginal characters and gameplay, ugly graphics, awful performance, and a severe lack of content and an active playerbase.
I am talking about the bigger games in the genre. Ya know, like F13, Predator, and REsistance. All do a better job at being well made, having original characters, still having some fun gameplay, better graphics, better performance, and way more meaningful content.

I don’t know about Nemesis and RE survivors. I fear there would be people complaining because the translation into DbD might not feel right for them even though Capcom themselves would approve it beforehand. I mean there won’t ever be a 1:1 implementation of characters from other sources into DbD after all..
Just because they'd complain doesn't mean do half of the job. I don't really want a 1:1 adaptation. I never expect that except with characters that make sense for it. Like Michael and Leatherface are perfect. I just want the characters to be represented in some way. Instead we got grandma Jill, goblin Claire wasn't even in the story Chris, and Nemesis who? I thought we were supposed to be doing Lisa Trevor? Ahhh screw it lets just keep the power and throw a Nemesis skin on it.

Well yeah it has less counselors but then you take into account they have more personality because they have full on unique lines and F13 has a full on STORY MODE sort of. That makes up for the lower amount of survivors and more. F13 has more meaningful content. 3 survivors from DBD would probably equal the value of 1 from F13 because the ones in F13 are actually unique and have a personality.

It isn't the worst but the other big games in the genre I would say are 100% better. REsistance, F13, Predator. They all have more meaningful content than DBD. Like NEW MODES!!!!

There will never be competition because no game is like Dead by Daylight. These other games in the genre could never compete with DBD. Not because they are bad, they weren't, they were probably better games than DBD, they are just completely different. DBD can't compete with them other but that is because the are not trying to. Like VHS. VHS is not gonna compete but DBD won't compete with it either. Because they are very different.
