In case you didn't see the wonderful wonderful news! Watching the trailer is getting me all hot and bothered. It's gonna be a good day!!!!
Isn’t this just an April Fools prank?

How are you guys liking not getting hit by ridiculous bull crap decisive strikes? 🤣
It’s nice to not feel bullied, or ganged up on just because a survivor has 60 seconds of “invincibility”. If I lose a match it now feels fair.

Guys, can you tell how often the hotfixes are deployed? Do we need to wait until the next chapter, or will the fix be deployed separately as soon as it is in place?
Hotfix is normally within a week of a chapter releases

yes, I double checked on this yesterday and it's confirmed that something is not working as intended and it's being looked into.
Oh ok, how funny. I’ve still been getting in surprise hits, and the score event.

Well plague is super strong, but nobody uses her because most people don't like that type of killer , they need to make it so infections very very slowly puts you in dying so you can't just not cleanse
That’s not necessary. If Plague spreads base infection early and quickly, and is able to put pressure on survivors, they’ll cleanse. They always do once they’re sick of being insta-downed by mid game.

Permanently, whenever you are more than 16 meters away (at Tier 3).
For why this is the case - this is a relict from old Mettle of Man. It is basically a Cashgrab, was released way too strong in a Only-Survivor-Paragraph (there needs to be an incentive for people to buy it). In its original state it was only useable once and it only required 3 Basic Attacks to activate. They nerfed it a little bit later, but the Aura Read stayed (this was the biggest Drawback back then).
Aura Read could be removed nowadays, the Perk is not strong at all.
I think the aura read is still a fair trade off. Despite earning the 3 tokens, being hit by the killer is still essentially a chase that would have otherwise been lost. If the survivor chooses to heal, this be 2 hit state again, the killer should get a chance at retribution
-
It’s still work in progress. No promises were made.

Why aren't you running the most OP perk out there:
Distortion
If I want aura blocking I swap out Fixated for Sole Survivor. It sucks when 1 team mate dies, but 1 token is incredibly useful against a lot of aura reading.

I'm going to counter point 1 & 2 here by saying if I'm on death hook & nobody else is, I'm out for blood and will do everything in my power to get my team to stop being selfish and take a hit/down.
Doing the objective so EVERYBODY, or as many as possible can escape, is NOT being selfish.

I think I can understand your frustration.
Although not may people use no mither so they could have forgotten that they no mither can allow you to pick yourself up.
Also just to ask what's your no mither build?
I’m currently running Calm Spirit, Fixated, Iron Will, No Mither. It’s a pretty decent stealth build that counters a wide range of detection and tracking abilities.

@[Deleted User] said:
Oh boy you play solo queue trying to escape via gate? My man.
The only way to truly win solo queue is to make your own objective. Be it get 4 WGLF stacks, or hit a killer with power struggle, you are on a one way trip to depression trying to play a normal solo queue game.
I’m running No Mither and I still manage to outlast many others and leave through a gate. It’s embarrassing (for them)

Well to be fair I don't play Wraith often enough to be good at him.. and today I was mostly using the extra speed to check the map for Glyphs for my challenge and didn't bother turning sideways when approaching generators to not scare the Spine Chill users away ;p
I do enjoy the fastest movement speed to travel between places though.. but yeah you can't cloak and chase people and uncloak to get a hit on them anymore. After you've hit them once, you're better off staying uncloaked if you intend on chasing them down.
You’re not even meant to do that. You’re meant to get them wasting time healing, or catch them out injured later on.
Hit n Run. Keeping finding other survivors

@Marcavecunc said:

The super slow uncloaking makes you lose any cloaked chase progress you might have made.. He's still super easy to spot and with how slow he uncloaks now, even if you didn't see him approaching, you'll hear his pug-like grunts and see the air shimmering as he bings his bong, giving you time to skedaddle out of there.
That still doesn’t change the fact that it was never intended to be a chase tool.
Also a Wraith not using LoS blockers on approach to suspected whereabouts of survivors is just playing dumb. I’ve managed plenty of surprise hits since yesterday, some from survivors running straight into me because I used LoS blockers before uncloaking.
-
@Zixology said:
Revert Wraith's awful changes so he's viable again.
How is moving much faster cloaked at base bad?!
The only thing that can’t be done anymore is used mid chase. The changes very clearly emphasise hit n run/surprise tactics.

Open Handed buff.
This Is Not Happening rework.
-
@VikingWilson said:
Clown needed a buff. The survivors didn't need one along with him.

Huh?
I’m decimating teams with Clown since the buffs.
If a Clown player is letting survivors get benefit from The Antidote then they’re not using it right.
-
Serious response here. We don’t see many GF anymore because too many of them engage in pointless chases, and then probably get frustrated.
With GF it’s hit and run. If a surprise hit can’t be made, or the survivor can’t be hit immediately after exposing them, its time to call off the chase and find someone else to sneak up on.

If you look at the reasons why all of the asym competition has died, it's either extremely bad luck (Last Year on Discord and Discord closing the store randomly... and what ACTUALLY ended their game for good: Covid), legal trouble (Friday the 13th) or a unfun "rock paper scissors" formula (Resistance)...
It's not always because the games were bad.
Sure, there are outliers, but in majority of cases these games are nowhere near as good as DBD.
Even this new HSH is looking shoddy. It looks like a game created by former DBD players that were frustrated about certain things not being in DBD, only to now see what an unbalanced mess these mechanics are, and realise exactly why these mechanics aren’t in DBD.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
It's only decent on Nurse, Blight and maybe Spirit. And even then you can just hide during the exposed.
I’ve been getting insanely good value out of it with Clown because how quick he ends chases. Either I get another quick down on an exposed survivor after hooking someone, or survivors don’t bother healing anymore in which case chases are still insanely quick.
-
@Spooky13 said:
I can't believe I'm saying this but Twins on release were stronger than Trickster. Even if you never got a chance to use Victor, he either got stuck in the ground and acted as a motion detector, or someone stole him and made the game a 3V1, AND Charlotte is 115% making her instantly better in chases than the Trickster.
There's some gameplay of Almo playing as the Trickster and even he couldn't find a use for his knives. Apparently in 3 games, he only used them 3 times, with one being on an AFK survivor, one being on the last survivor remaining, and one at a survivor in the exit gate. Nice killer guys, glad to see you listen to feedback :)
That’s just...
I don’t know what to say...

I'd be looking at BHVR entirely, because personally that entire company is driving up their pot of greed cards.
I don’t know if that’s entirely fair. We really don’t know the extent of their ongoing costs for this game. Amongst other things their list licenses is getting quite long.

@smappdooda said:
Blight's new camera makes him whiff hits now, including windows. If I miss someone doing a vault, I miss the player AND the window (No collision animation) It's causing me to whiff hits in chase too. Anyone else noticed this?
(Also he still slides off stuff.)
You’ll get used to it. One of my mains is Plague. I used to whiff a lot of hits with her because I thought survivors were closer than they actually were. Just practice hesitating just a little longer before going for a swing.
-
@Kolossoni said:
People keep complaining he's weak, but frankly I like it when the newest killer isn't OP or strong.
Imagine the match ups against him being new AND being strong since release.
It would've been a nightmare.
This game should focus on preventing power creeps and the Trickster is exactly that.
All he needs is more fair balancing and he'll be A o-KAY.
While we're here, let's balance Spirit and Freddy too and also, OP survivor perks like Unbreakable and Dead Hard.
I played him all morning. Like 5, 6 hours. I’ve had 1 hook. 1. ONE!!!
For context I can decimate red ranks as Clown. Trickster is utter dog crap.
-
@UMCorian said:
His perks aren't terrible... but how do you throw No Way Out + Remember Me together, yet not pull the trigger on NOED?
If you're going full "post Gen" troll, do it right.
Because MYC, and Starstruck expose the survivors often enough NOED isn’t needed, and they CAN’T be cleansed. In fact Starstruck is very problematic for altruistic teams at endgame.
-
@SilentPill said:
You could also just use Pinky Finger and some real perks, too.
I prefer other add ons.

@Lord_Tony said:
I love starstruck it's an actual good perk
All his perks are amazing. It’s the only good thing about Trickster. I’m using Crowd Control & Blood Favour on indoor maps with Clown, and they are pure solid gold together on these kind of maps.
-
@GodDamn_Angela said:
I find it hard not to compare him to The Plaque. A killer that is considered average to below-average in strength. He's worse than her in every way.
Exactly.
I only need to hit a survivor with some little bit of Vile Purge and leave to do other things, that survivor will eventually be injured.
Plague compared to Trickster is a vision of efficiency. Trickster is as inefficient as a killer can get.
-
@CornHub said:
As a community we sometimes forget that the way we play is vastly different from the way the devs intended this game to be played. The same way old Freddy & Twins aren't supposed to be played as a regular killer could be the same case for the Trickster.
I think the community would be more than ecstatic for a few devs to livestream public games demonstrating how Trickster should be played.

@bm33 said:
The devs just don't care about the console fanbase. I've seen comments during PTBs from pc players saying "x killer is going to suck for console/controller." The devs don't even consider those on console/controller when developing killers or in the feedback given about the killers during PTB or feedback after live release or feedback months later.... Console is used as scapegoat when they want to push through changes (UI) pc players hate but ignored rest of the time.
I have a hard time believing they have a team that actually plays on console or understands console. So many decisions are just overall bad for console players. There have been issues they have shown lack of basic knowledge when it comes to console - like when ps4 had issues in game that made it unplayable and they said to update the system when you can't log into online games like Dead by Daylight if your ps4 is not up to date.
If they can't be bothered to know basic information about consoles why would they bother taking console into consideration when it comes to killers playability on console?
It’s baffling though. Surely the PC DBD population isn’t larger than total combined population of DBD players on other platforms?!

@Bromation said:
So I can't tell if this is a bug or it's intentional, but No Way Out doesn't activate if you close the hatch. So the only way to use this perk is when survivors get all 5 gens done. If that's how it's supposed to work, I don't see the point of the perk. It's a wasted slor if you don't get to endgame or if you close hatch.
It’s intentional. The perk only activated after the 5th gen is repaired. It would be a broken perk otherwise.

@QwQw said:

Hold up I am excellent with the twins.Viva pounce and I only play on console.
I find them frustrating.
Pounce, miss, crush. Over and over again. It doesn’t matter how many different ways I try to bait or track the survivors movements, they just step left or right. That’s it. That’s all they need to do. No skill. Just immediately move left or right the second they see Victor initiative the pounce. They’re even doing this when I am right behind them.

Like, everyone has killers they don't like, right? Now amplify this manifold and imagine that a killer you 'normally' don't like causes you physical unwellness. Like, your body nearly shutting down and stressing out painfully, without there being any obvious rhyme or reason to it.
That sounds terrible. I’m sorry this a condition you experience. Hope you find a way to manage it mate.

@GeneralV said:
I agree. Other than the trailer, everything about this chapter is a huge disappointment. I haven't seen such a weak killer since PTB Ghostface.
And to think, after all that hype, that is what we get.
The red flags were there.
- an absurdly high ammo count.
- An objectively strong hex.
- A perk that encourages the use of a basic attack after carrying/hooking someone.
- A perk that’s purpose is to give the killer more time during endgame.
-
@MeltingPenguins said:
Now, I know a lot of you people don't take triggers (and i mean ACTUAL triggers, y'know, ptsd like stuff) serious and find it a ground for mockery (you oughta do some soulsearching), but for everyone else:
Is anyone else showing a serious negative reaction to the trickster?
I mean physical unwellness, panic states etc?
This is the first killer where this happened, and I don't like it. Maybe it is because he ticks of so many red flags
I don’t follow...

having been one to reserve my judgement and been excited for his release, and having been someone who really, really, really wanted him to be and hoped he would be good, allow me to say he's dogshit. absolute dogshit. Getting Over It made me less angry, drawing a 6th damage heal vs Dragonic Nouvelle Vouge makes me less angry, learning nurse made me less angry, than playing as him. he's so unbeliavably weak and isn't even fun to back it up.
the midchapter better bring some solid buffs to him or twins, and the 5th anniversary better be at least adequate because this chapter is the biggest letdown i think i've ever had in my life and i play gatcha games in my free time.
I just can’t get over how insanely difficult AND cumbersome it is to injure or down someone with the power. I genuinely have achieved only ONE hook today in my attempts to get the adept and unlock his perks so that I never EVER have to touch him again.

@WiiFitTrainer said:
So I was super stoked to play trickster. I like his power, looks, everything. I figured once I got some games in his power would come to fruit. Boy was I wrong.
I stopped playing after 10 games because I just got tired of struggling for downs every single game.
You might as well not even use the knives at all. The only time I could make use for them was when I zoned survivors at unsafe loops where I could throw knives over the loop or if I was pretty much already in m1 range. Using them in the open is ok as long as you're absolutely sure they can't make it to a loop by the time you hit them 8 times.
Using knives slows you down which is dumb since they aren't lethal like hatchets.
The recoil is just stupid which makes any throws at more than 10 or so meters pointless.
Knives hit progress also goes away. This is a HUGE waste of time for you if your target gets body blocked or lithe away or whatever.
Since you can't really use knives effectively, you have to rely on m1 hits which is TORTURE on an 110 % killer. It's basically playing huntress or death slinger without using ranged attacks.
I may be beating a dead horse here but this killer needs some serious buffs or he's going to be best buddies with the twins in no-play limbo. Which is a shame because I think he's got a lot of good potential.
This was about the same as me. After multiple games I got a grand total of 1 down/hook. Yippee. I won’t be using him ever again once I’ve unlocked his perks for Clown.

Well self-preservation activates at a different time than OtR. Plus, I doubt the killer just blacks out when they hit my rescuer. Even a Blendette can be seen running behind a wall.
If your unhooker gets hit while they’re nearby/in range, Self Preservation will activate.

What about modifications to scratch marks?
There’s already Self Preservation for that. If you were running both OtR and SP, and your Unhooker takes a hit, then you have a exceptionally good chance of disappearing on the killer.

When the clown mains think Trickster is bad.....I don't know if the developers could have a bigger red flag.
I mean I’m an extremely experienced player. Mastered Clown, a killer almost ubiquitously labelled as almost impossible to do well with.
If Trickster is extremely difficult for someone like me, I can only imagine how frustrated and confused newer players will be using the “easy” difficulty advice as a guide to choosing Trickster.

Rarely do I find that Off the Record actually works; when you already have DS, you hopefully aren't getting chased much anyways. Yes, but not by much. It’s only true purpose is to ensure your not the next spotted by BBQ, and to get a heal in and not be tunnelled by a Nurses Calling user.

Nah. I've gone up against a Locker Crew before and I'd much rather that than the Flashlight Squad. It's fun baiting lockers, or trying to predict where they'll be. There's nothing fun about getting chain blinded 7 times at once, and being unable to avoid it because you literally can't see where they're blinding you from. Happened yesterday as the exit gates opened and everyone escaped.
Flashlight batteries run out.
Head On chains can be done indefinitely if the teams is rotating amongst themselves correctly.
