  • DS and Unbreakable are very avoidable. Stop slugging and tunnelling. But you went into the game with essentially 3 perks. Ruin at this point is pointless if you can't chase them off the gens. Run Thanat if you want to slow progress and that works well with Sloppy and only one of them had a heal perk. And NoEd? That's something I save for Tome quests. Throw on BBQ so you have information when you leave the hook. What killer are you even playing? Maybe change that up.

  • Oddly enough, the ranking system is designed to link you with survivors with 10 ranks of you, so this is a sad excuse where the system is working properly under it's current condition. Not to say I agree with being paired up with red ranks when you're in green ranks. I get red and purple ranks when I'm a rank 15 killer though.

  • I was having some bad Rank 1 survivor games, getting paired up with survivors that can't hide from a killer and can't give them chase for long at all. I kept dying on first hook because all my teammates were already dead, hooked, or slugged.

I thought, let me queue up as killer, if I can get these kinds of games, I'll have no problem. Queue my Rank 13 gameplay as I get bullied going up against a SWF of a Rank 2, 3, 8 and 9. I got hooks, but most of them were really good about getting chases and butt dancing after pallet stuns. It was a lot of fun. 🙄

  • Honestly if you're gen rushing enough and the killer isn't getting enough downs to keep up, you need to 'do bones'. You can tell within the first 5 minutes of a round if there's a good chance the killer has NoEd.

Last night I had a round and got a couple totems done but couldn't seem to find anymore. Last gen gets completed, and we robbed the killer of his NoEd.

Different round, killer was doing very terrible. However, by early game I knew they had Corrupt Intervention. Got to a gen I could do, they had Ruin. They hit someone when I was nearby and I screamed, Infectious Fright. Got hit by the killer, ouch Franklin's. Boom, no need to do bones.

If by process of elimination, you can't figure out what 4 perks they have, do the GD bones.

  • Haha, you only have yourself to blame here. You got greedy and had two other downed survivors to pick up, but you chose the one that could have DS'ed you. And don't act like you still didn't get a 3 or 4k...

  • What's an event? We don't get those anymore. We have the a Time, enjoy.

  • I was today years old when I even heard of the killer or survivor. My boyfriend was beyond excited (he'll probably start playing again for 3 months, tops).

  • I think I was 5 last I checked...maybe 6 after 3 games last night...

  • See the broken matchmaking works for me because I'm only a sometimes killer player so by the time I get to killer I've been deranked to the high teens. I by no means think I'm good enough to play against red ranks, but I'm a red rank survivor so I understand the strats that they try to pull which certainly helps. Last night I had 4ks against red rank survivors and lower with the doctor, the wraith and Legion. Maybe find a killer that works better for you. I'm seeing someone post Pig and Shape matches...they're not the best unless you've been making them for years.

  • Not in it's current state. It's been a loooong time since I've been camped and hit continuously on the hook until I died.

I don't like the mobile version either, the steering it's so terrible and the skill check system is annoying.

I went back to PS4 and was like, wow the skill checks are so much easier on console. The ticker moves slower on PS4 than on mobile.

  • If you can't account for a killers 4 perks, then the only thing to do is get out of the game asap. 99 the door until the hook action is complete. PSA to my fellow forehead survivors.

  • I've gotten a Bill and Quentin perk and all I've played is David. My partner also got BBQ without buying Leatherface. It would be great if you didn't have to go through the unlocking process, but I was confused when I reached Level 20 on David and unlocked one of his teachables. There's definitely a disconnect somewhere, but it's DBD, you should always expect bugs.

  • Yeah, I won't buy the rift pass unless I reach 70. And this time I only reached 58/59. I completed all the survivor challenges but just couldn't be bothered to do the majority of killer Grindy challenges. I've also lost a lot of interest in it lately. Been playing less stressful games more. There's been just too many changes to this game lately that have just made this game feel like a chore at times. I'm sure I'll play more once they announce something exciting. I'm really ready for them to do away with player rank knowledge so they can hide how terrible they will remain at decent matchmaking. (´⊙ω⊙`)

  • I've gotten 20k as a survivor and depipped. The pipping process is super broken. Plus, who cares about pipping. There's literally no point to pipping. I'm a 1 survivor and there's no benefit.

  • @28_stabs said:

Its downside isnt really a downside, so I'll say its good as it is. You get a totem out of your way, you get good bp and it take about as long as SC.

This is way faster than SC. Then at Thanat and/or Sloppy and it easily beats SC. I just don't know why more people don't run it. It's 100% fine where it's at.

  • You're getting a lot more helpful teammates than I do. I get survivors that need me to both keep the killer busy and get the gens done. You can usually go around the edge of a map and find a survivor crouching around.

  • Yes. Thank you for posting. I was looking for this. Ugh. Happy Monday.

Yes QoL changes equal buff. Is losing madness regression really that important outside if making the mechanic more confusing?

You ignored the main point of trappers QoL changes which was resetting traps

I guess ever killer is bad because survivors can counterplay them.

Sabo change is fine it makes you chose between gens and hooks with your toolbox

And I'm sure all the killers would love to keep their add-ons so welcome to our world.

Saying your gonna play it out doesn't make you any better than everyone else complaining about things no one has seen. Plus if you look at people who actually play this game for a living (Paulie ester, the king, otdarva, ECT) all of them really like the idea of the new changes.

I must be the only one then that doesn't give the doctor's power confusing. I had no issues zap zapping.

And I'm sorry that I'm not going to get excited about resetting traps. He's a weak killer that has to run around the map to find his power. People only played him last quarter because the Tome made us.

I didn't say I was better than anyone else. Just out here for some quaint discussions.

Lets not forget that most of the community wants either keys or moris or both nerfed and yet the developers keep putting tome challenges in the game encouraging their use. Just what everybody wanted! 🙄

I'm definitely tired of the Tome and Rift. It worked well over the holidays because I had more free time, but my time playing has slowed since I started a new job. It kills the completionist in me, but at the same time I could care less about cosmetics, charms and backstory you can just read online.

    I miss events. :'(

Add-ons are one time use, just like it is for killer.

    @ClickyClicky said:

Nothing they add really matters until matchmaking is fixed. I lost the will to play survivor after this rank reset. Turned it on to do challenges now and yeah unless the killer is afk there’s not a chance I’m ever going to get 5 unbroken emblems.

Just out with noobs and killers that are halfway competent. Can’t even touch a gen because you’re that busy unhooking/healing other survivors.

Then you have killers like Ghostface and Legion that are about as much fun as a bullet in the head.

You're right. Matchmaking is the main thing breaking this game. When I keep pairing up with gray ranks, I feel terrible for squashing the killer, and hope we're not causing people to quit because they're in poorly matched games.

    @emptyCups said:

Is the doctor really a buff because his maddest points system was overly convoluted and now it's simple?

The only reason to move to a half tier whole tier system and remove decay is to devoid all those weird point values.

If they didnt remove the decay some hits wouldnt move madness for two shocks in a row. And some shocks would jump you up two tiers... it was inconsistent for survivors and hard to track for survivors so they made it simpler.

It really didn't seem difficult to comprehend, and it's 100% a buff regardless of how you reason it. It makes the doctor stronger.

    @CashelP14 said:

The doctor is op.. yea I'd rethink that mate lol at higher ranks he still gets looped easily enough and usually they dc after 3 gens are done with no hooks.

I actually like what they did. They looked at problems that would come from changing toolboxes and made some decent changes. We'll see how sabotaging turns out but I'm happy with the plague, doctor and trapper changes.

Ok, you can't be serious with the trapper! Give him his traps to start with already! Lol

  • I certainly don't approve of it but I can understand the frustration. When the killer came out updated, it was impossible to find a lobby with a different killer. And it is very unfun playing against the same killer over and over again. Even now in PS4 Red Ranks, we got a doctor 3 out of 4 games. That can make gameplay super stale.

  • @homagegray said:

Of all the things I have found wrong with DBD, the biggest issue I have had for way too long is No One Escapes Death. I refuse to see why this perk has went so long without a nerf. I'm not going to say to remove it, but something needs to change, because I'm tired of playing a game great only to die immediately to NOED. And it's hard to find the will to stay on the hook, since then all you do is risk killing anybody else. I'm not saying ditch this perk, because I understand that the best use of this perk comes from matches that went poorly for the killer. However, this inspires toxic gameplay. I absolutely despise the fact that you can do awful the entire game, yet still possibly net a 4K due to this single perk. Ruin was changed because people hated how annoying it was, but Ruin didn't need a change anywhere near as bad as this perk. Here are just a few ideas on how to nerf this perk: 1. When the killer runs this perk, change the design/color of the totems, that way it is worth it to cleanse dull totems, but doesn't totally eliminate the possibility of NOED actually triggering. 2. Have a requirement for the exposed effect, like only have the exposed effect if 4 or 3 of the survivors are still within the trial. This will still help Killers who've had a bad game, without entirely removing the ability for the survivors who've played well to escape. 3. Buff the survivors in some way. This doesn't have to be a big buff at all, but anything that makes it slightly easier to not die immediately is worth it. Like, how about removing all the survivors' exhaustion or make vaulting pallets and windows a bit faster. Just one of these tweaks would make playing against a killer with this perk infinitely more enjoyable, without making this perk worthless to run. Please, anybody consider this and spread it. Out of all the current balance issues, this one seems the most obvious.

Dude, just cleanse. Then it won't even matter.

  • Would love to know this too.

Proof people have no clue and talk without trying things, Doctor is way way better than before, I played him a lot and his only strength was 3 gen turtledoc or The Game map, now I find him easier to play as, less frustrating (stance switching was nice on paper, terrible on execution) and overall better at everything except 3 gen turtling (which was an awful and unfun tactic anyway).

It's also the entitlement that they are having to relearn the character which has its own learning curve just like anything else. It's an absolute improvement.

  • I see the confusion. When I clicked over it took me straight to page two, so I didn't even see you call out killers for the same.

  • there's an error:

    A message to entitled players

There fixed it for you. I can't tell you how many killers DC after being outplayed and it's unbelievable when they have endgame perks that would still help them. Like #########

  • Ruin is a terrible perk. It's rare for Ruin to be up long enough for the killer to even get a single down in the games I play on PS4.

This is the best thing for killers. Imagine having 4 perks active all game instead of down a perk after a couple minutes.

Not to say Ruin can't be amazing against lower level Survivors, but then those Survivors are also having a hard time getting to learn the game.

Side note: Had a game last night and we got all 4 gens down with Ruin up, and the killer only got 1 kill. It bought him more time, but that wasn't enough.

  • @Hail_to_the_King said:

Survivor matchmaking has been terrible on PS4 since release. You have to wait at least 15 minutes between games just to play and that's with or without a swf group. It's always bad for me.

I concur. I'm getting long wait times, so I watch YouTube videos to pass the time, and then get paired with killers 8 or more ranks lower than me... If you play as Killer you get instant queues, yet PC is the exact opposite, instant queues for Survivor, 15-20 minute waits for killer.

  • As a Survivor main, if you get slugged too much, equip Unbreakable and get yourself off the ground so your Survivors can stay on gens and punish the killer.

The reasoning behind people saying this is acceptable because it's forcing people to leave their gens to heal you is bogus. If the killer actually hooks you, they still have to get off their gen and save you, so that reasoning does not fly with me.

I had many games where I played super fair and everyone was on death hook. Then I kill one guy and there’s one gen left. All three escape through the hatch with it help of a key. So if I’m losing badly this way, I should just tunnel or slug all of them so they just die on their first or second hooks right?

Any chance you were playing The Pig on PS4? 😂

We had 4 gens done, and 1 player was sacrificed. I found the hatch and after healing a Survivor, I motioned for them to follow. I showed them they hatch, and they ran off. Low and behold they went to the other Survivor, and next thing I know they're both escaping thru the hatch and I followed as fast a I could. Totally forgot that one of them started the round with a key.

  • I think the devs would happily bring old hatch back for you whiny killers. No more EGC, so be we can have one hour games where you have to babysit the hatch lest we dip out in it since you will no longer be able to close it. And let's not forget hatch standoffs. The hatch is working in a much better place to keep the games from going on and on and on.

  • I like all these killers saying they're bringing NoEd. As soon as I see a killer doing bad, I focus on totems to make sure all are broken before the last gen is done. Because they always have NoEd when they play terribly without Ruin.

And to help your list, red rank killers on PS4 DC because:

    They get blinded.

    They lose a Survivor.

    They can't find a Survivor.

They get run around for too long.

1-2 gens get done before they downed someone.

    Ruin gets found too soon.

    Devour gets found too soon.

    Surviver hits their DS.

They get pallet stunned when carrying a Survivor.

    They don't like Survivors offerings.

    Last gen is completed.

    Doors have been opened.

And that's not even adding in all the lobby dodging because of items held, and cosmetics worn.

  • I've had a mix bag.

Red rank Survivor here, and being honest, old Ruin was either great or trash. Over 50% of my games with Ruin, I cleanse it before the killer gets their first down. Fortunately most killers now days play through it, but that didn't use to be the case.

I get it, low ranking killers can really wreak havoc against newer Survivors who can never find Ruin or even on new maps without Small Game. I ever ran it as a Rank 11-15 killer, but it's a handicap that honestly doesn't help you figure out good builds for killers, etc.

Some killers could use better mobility. Trapper is one that I still can't comprehend why he doesn't start with more or all of his traps.

  • It makes sense. They focus a lot of the new costumes on the free characters. So for people who didn't buy some of the extra characters, they can still get their money on the characters that every has.

  • Wait what? Is that why I've been hitting a lot more Great Skill checks?

  • I came to this thread for the entertainment value. Imagine people whining about changes before they even try them. Some things will never change.

And let's be honest, you're not whining because this gets destroyed in the first 30 seconds, you're actually whining because sometimes it isn't found late game anyways and sometimes never found or found too late. At least be honest why you're having a conniption.

  • Don't worry Hillbilly will get his nerf. Nurse and Spirit got theirs, his will be coming too.

My claim was that unlike a survivor, a killer sees the items he is up against and when they see 4 toolboxes like I did, they can prepare better

Ok, that I agree with. Having that information up front gives the killer the chance to change their setup, or in most cases for me, they just lobby dodge if they don't like what they see. Better to see a Survivor with a key than to get shocked by one found in a Chest.

  • Your claim made it sound like you often vers against all 4 Survivors having BNP, which I've literally never versed ever. But I have played 1000s of games as Survivor and Killer where not a single player uses a BNP add-on.

Yeah I verse it pretty often so that argument is invalid. And it is not about facing it often, is about when you do you can have a chance of winning

    Ha, that's a lie!

The pig is the most obnoxious character to play against too, a lot of people use the traps to basically tunnel people with a little more flexibility than if they tunneled as any other killer.

I don't enjoy playing against Pig at all.

This was my take away as well. Getting off the hook, just gives the Pig a lot of information, as you will probably be getting your RBT off especially if the other Survivors popped a gen after you were trapped.

And the +Box add-on is horrible. I only got to check 3 boxes as it were because she found me in the process and rehooked me. Then the RBT went off when I was at a 4th box.

You should have to get X# of great skill checks to get the trap off, with good skill checks having a smaller effect. Or hitting a Great skill check buys you more time. Something to make that part of the process less RNG.

  • Well that got off topic.

Run Bond and Prove Thyself. You can burn a shroud to spawn with a teammate. Always work on a gen with someone else, if possible. That's one fewer person who could finish a gen without you working on it. Bail early if the killer is approaching and leave your teammate to deal with them, because you're 100% going to be the gen jockey for this one. Let your teammates go for saves (within reason).

Shrouds are pretty pointless at this point in the game. 90% of games I start with at least 1 survivor and 50% of the time they run off instead of joining me at the closest generator.

Note, I play a lot of solo survivor. And I usually don’t get too frustrated in this role, but man.. I’m mentally wore down at the moment.

So far, 7 games in and each one has been unpleasant.

In 4 of the games the killer has dc’ed (normally, I wouldn’t be too frustrated, but I’m trying to do one of my final challenges that require me to escape 5 trials. I saved this one since I thought it would be easy lol. They were all when there was 1 gen or less).

In another one, I had a mate afk all game while the other two were downed 45 seconds into the match.

The other two games had me being found in the beginning, chased for 4-5 minutes and not single gen was done in either one during that time (as I was writing this, it happened a 3RD TIME. NOT EVEN JOKING. At least this killer didn’t BM, although I had two Claudette using UE the whole match). Not only that, but I had to deal with those pricks shaking their head at me for a few minutes and getting camped afterwards.

For those wondering, this is Rank 1 (there was a few purple, green and even yellows sprinkled in there).

I’m not complaining, even if it sounds like it. Just venting.

The Survivor main community needs to become closer and SWF more over solo queing. This game is designed for you to fail because killers who suck even against solo queues will get buffed, but then when killers go against good SWF groups, they can become toxic in future matches and try hard against solo queues. That being said, there are a lot of people who just want to log in and mess around, which is their prerogative, but that kind of gameplay can sabotage yours.

I just completed Adept Laurie, and one of the fellow Survivors was purposefully telling the killer where we were, which was already hard for me not to do with Object of Obsession running. They were probably pissed about something with my game play, but I was doing my best with that crappy perk on.

  • Because a name like Pennywise will bring more people to the game, and more people equals more money and quicker lobbies.

And when has DBD ever cared about fitting the killers lore to match their movie references? Correct me if I'm wrong, but they take certain liberties that provide a unique take on the characters, so why would this be any different?

And I would so look forward to a special IT map and to see what they do with the Mori!

  • Damn this post reminded me I needed to put Kindred on if Adam has it after that last match of dying on hook. Though likely they all still would have left me to die in the basement.

Im tier 67. I will definitely get to 68 just for the laat 50 cells back. I may try for 70 but doubt ill play enough to grind it out.

I play solo on xbox and guess i was lucky as the challenges being complained about i was able to get easily, the dark sense and chest ones. The egc took me awhile as everyone who got hooked during end game were dead on hook or, no one would open the gates preferring to 99 them. I did derank for the flashlight challenge. I suck i know.

I farmed the trap challenges as i can't stand playing trapper. Im just not good. Managed to get my 5 hooks in basement with huntress of all people. On lerys. It was my last challenge and never thought I wpuld get it.

All in all the bloodpoints were a welcome bonus, especially for newer players. I figured out i need about 3 million more to max out my p1 huntress. Kinda insane to be honest.

What i would like to see is if you dc after completing a challenge then you don't get credit for that challenge. Yes unforseen circumstances may screw some people over but it shouldnt be too common.

Also as for challenges, the grind to 70 makes sense why we could only progress one challenge at a time. Its not designed to finish every challenge in 1 go and doing so leaves you with more of a grind at the end. However, instead of fun designs that are supposed to mimic the bloodwebs, id rather it be a circle with master challenges in a smaller circle inside. This way we can choose where we start our journey and possibly mitigate the chances of the entire player base working on the same things.

I loved not being forced to buy the pass at the start. I didn't know where i would end up so didnt really want to waste the money.

I definitely would love more perk challenges as using a perk you never used before sometimes reveals a hidden gem. (Empathy)

Final thought, as a first attempt i thought the system was good. I can overlook its flaws. I just hope they make the good parts better, or at least not screw them up, and change the bad parts.

You don't get credit for tasks if you DC, at least not on PS4.

Rift rewards were kind of disappointing, not a huge cosmetics fan here, so I just played for the other rift rewards. I did get to 70 awhile ago. But I started out aiming to get 20 levels per chapter, so finishing out the last chapter took no time at all.

I enjoy having extra tasks to do, but a lot of these tasks sucked. I probably queued up to a dozen farming games to finish quite a few of them (as a Survivor and Killer). I never would have gotten the flashlight save, 4 gens completed, and a few others. Still never got the kill all 4 Survivors on basement hook. It's just really scummy gameplay that I just don't want to take part in so I haven't tried that hard. I'm not that good at killer either.

I listened to early Archives, and legitimately haven't listened to any since coming across a bug in them, I don't even read the character summaries, so why should I care about this.

Not sure how many hours I played, but counting long lobby times, it's way over 70.

Not sure I will buy the next Rift Pass, even though I have the Cells in reserve. I likely will not play as much next time. Having a few holiday breaks in there really helped grind this time.

I have two friends that don't play nearly as much as me, and neither is close at all in finishing the Tome or Rift. This concept is great if you play only this game, but that really limits your audience. I love this game, so I'm here until the devs do something to truly destroy the game

  • They just nerfed Balanced Landing which was made this map very Survivor-sided. Let those changes ride for a bit, and then maybe they will come back and fix it.

  • Considering the rarity of the doctor in gameplay now, an update is necessary so people actually pick him to play. He is annoying to go against, but he's also easy to escape from most of the time. An update could help both.

Franklin's Demise is not counterplay. You need to be able to see the bloody thing in the lobby wich can be very hard due to how some survivors hold their items and the dark background. And then you have to forsake an entire perk slot just to prevent a cheap escape. Not to mention that you can just find keys in chests.

Also this is not about how effective a key is compared to a mori. You can't make that kind of direct comparison in an asymetric game. This is about how it feel to have a key or mori used against you. It sucks to be eliminated quicker than you should have been because of a mori and it suck to have your victory robbed from you by a key.

The effectiveness of the key versus the Mori is exactly why the key is nowhere near a big deal.

What we need for all you whiners is to see stats that show how many times a key was brought into a game and used. Then how many times a key was used and how many survivors manage to escape through the hatch.

Then let's look at the success rate of moris and really open up this ridiculous conversation that keys are anywhere on any level as moris.

    #NerfEboniMori

  • The only time I can understand a killer being annoyed is if the Survivors couldn't get enough gens done and they are down to one Survivor, the Killer has closed the hatch, and the Survivor uses a key to escape. That I can understand.

But killer mains get so testy about multiple Survivors escaping thru a hatch, usually when the requisite generators are done or when all gens are done but the killer has easy access to two doors preventing them from being opened. In those type of games, the RNG of door placement should not affect a survivor team that has dominated the game for X # of minutes.
