  • You guys do know that even causal queues in games have DC penalties right? They're just less strict on the punishment and how fast it ticks up.

  • IDevs try to make a killer decently balanced base kit. Since the killer is balanced around base kit add-ons are really hard to do correctly.

  • 1. Probably won't do much. It might cause more dodges if other ppl don't like a meme build.

    2. I normally run kindred solo queue anyways. Might be a bit too strong if all 4 survivors have it.

    3. Sure

    4. Might be really buggy/annoying tbh and probably wouldn't be anywhere near effective as SWF. Might even lull ppl into a false sense of security. Probably not worth doing.

I'm gonna start by saying camping is totally acceptable in the game and I don't have an issue with it but at least own it

I just watched a streamer (that I can't name of course) hard proxy within 8 meters every hook that he got and two survivors escaped and went to his TTv and asked him why he camped from the start and he said because a survivor was right there everytime he hooked someone taunting him but the man wouldn't chase a soul away from the hook and nobody was there for the first half of the hook stages he just wouldnt leave and had the audacity to call the two that escaped bad for not being able to get the survivors that were being camped with Oni in his power so I've come to the conclusion if you say "the survivors don't leave the hook" it really means "I'm not gonna chase anyone and camp this guy" because if even one guy is right there that's a easy BBQ stack to earn because you didn't have to go anywhere to start the chase and he's not on a gen , solely you make the decision to camp, if you're going to have that playstyle at least own it is all I'm saying and don't make excuses for it.

As a 3rd person viewer things can seem pretty different on your end. For the other person playing they could not mean to camp but they didn't leave fast enough. Maybe they thought some1 was nearby, they were planning to go somewhere but changed their mind, etc. To anyone else judging they're purposefully camping and making excuses.

  • It would be pretty divisive to do it.

  • Nah. The reason why you never see survivors doing objectives is that you keep dcing. You're up to 120 hours banned this week alone?

It’s not unlucky, it’s a matter of time before the next ban comes. I’m walking on egg shells. And the company doesn’t want to help you recover your account when mishaps occur? Why would I support a game like that? But it sucks because I really do enjoy playing it. Yet it’s literally telling me I can’t play it every time I wait to play it again. I shouldn’t have to go through this. The first few times I DC’d was because my character got stuck in place or the game was being held hostage. I figured I could use the first few small bans on that kind of stuff that wasted an incredible amount of time in each match. Then I’ll hold off for awhile. But then your internet drops or someone unplugs it. Then the game crashes next time when you spawn in. And voila here I am at 72 hours. It compiles quickly and tbh it doesn’t need to exceed 24 hours. That’s just ridiculous

Very simple solution. Wait 98 hours and your ban should regress. Just tell us if the ban regresses to 42 hours or 5 minutes. Would be nice for the record.

  • Either MMR is back on or dbd just got an influx of new players thanks to the free weekend and Halloween sales. They'll all either quit or hit red ranks within 3 months so you won't notice the ranks by then... But you'll notice how bad they are.

  • @xhimsa12x said:

Again, here you are in my post and others pretending you know more than the OP. You aren’t a detective and rather than attacking people with a legitimate complaint, maybe you should listen more. Anyone upset they got a penalty is somehow beneath you.........

The reason why they're calling it bs is that 4 DC's isn't enough to get a 6 hour ban.

    @xhimsa12x said:

Why would i continue to DC knowing the penalty is progressive? Especially as i stated, had time lined up with friends to have fun and play. That isn’t logical

It's also more logical to get rid of high DC penalties if you're planning to play with friends during a double BP weekend. Why would you continue to stack things up higher and higher knowing the DC penalty was progressive? How'd you miss the other progressive penalties?

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Not the DC penalty. I said I have yet to see a game where this many people DC and claim it is their right. Most other games I play people DC a lot but they dont make up some lame excuse to justify it. They admit they do it and move on.

And as I said, you're not looking hard enough. They use very similar talking points. Actually I don't think I've heard a single new one in dvd's case.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    This.

I have never seen another game where so many people defend their BS reason for dc'ing. If your one of those people who dc whenever something on this list occurs then why do you still play the game? I can't imagine you would get many matches that fit your requirements.

You haven't been looking hard enough lol. I haven't seen a single game with a DC penalty where people haven't been complaining about it.

  • So how long did the match take and did you guys just hide for 90 percent of it?

  • @Kolonite said:

Well how would that be bad for survivors to keep them out as opposed to let them rejoin? How does it not make any logical sense to implement something like that? How would that make it worse for the survivors to get their teammate back? It’s ruining the game to keep them out of the match when they belong in that match. As long as you’re compensating the killer if he was chasing that particular survivor then you’re doing any more harm than the current system is doing

Because there's too many weird ways to cheese the system. It would be a headache to deal with all of them including hatch.

  • Well u see, it's cuz DBD is a CaSUal gAmE. Therefore, getting Mori'd first hook doesn't matter. You're off to another game and you got to see the Mori animation.

  • @gatsby said:

Honest question. Winding alleyways, sewers, houses and maybe a park in the middle. A feel like a darkly lit city at midnight would make a really obvious choice for a map

Probably cuz it would take a lot of work and it wouldn't make much of a difference other than aesthetic. I'm sure that if you squint and imagine a little you can transform plenty of maps into a city map. Just needs a lot of retexturing. Plus performance issues.

  • 1st one is strong but overall awful. I don't think anyone would want to use it.

2nd perk is really strong. Borderline op. It reminds me of rubber banding in racing games for ai.

The 3rd perk is a free stun against a killer for being hit. Ppl aren't going to use it for the pretend to be injured part of the perk. They'll just activate it for a free stun. I think it might be too strong when paired with other perks and on multiple survivors.

  • @Ryan489x said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/201424/that-feeling-when

a better solution for moris would be to set them to death hook use only.

My solution to Moris is to make it so the killer has to hit the survivor over and over again. With each hit the survivor gets closer and closer to death so they take a penalty to all actions, and run a little bit slower after each hit. Then when they finally collapse you can Mori.

  • I believe this belongs in feedback

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/201408/you-are-embarrassing-yourselves-smurfing-run-rampant

They used to have protection like that but they turned it off for some reason

I believe it was increasing wait times for survivors in general and lower ranked killers since a good chunk of survivors were being pulled into red rank killer games. At least that was the theory of why survivor wait times skyrocketed back then after that match making change was implemented. Honestly, I don't think this was true cuz that would mean that a lot more ppl were playing SWF than I thought but ppl complained about it anyway and it got changed.

  • I'm always confused about things like this. So it's not supposed to do that? Isn't that normal internet latency or has stuff like this been fixed in newer multiplayer games?

  • Survivor cuz I just found playing killer stressful. I don't like feeling like I'm reaching against the clock. Sure survivor can be frustrating as hell at times but overall I'd prefer that to feeling a time crunch.

I did recently play a bit of Billy though... I don't like what they did to him. Feels like all they did was nerf the fun part of him but didn't really touch his overall strength. Great for those who are good at killer and try harding. Not so much for not so good killers, like me.

  • Isn't one of the reasons you're doing so well at the beginning of the match because Myers is using his tombstone add-ons?

  • Try playing survivor for a bit of a break. Hopefully, you'll play against a deathslinger and then you can try to emulate them or learn the weaknesses of survivors.

I wasn’t really even referring to anything regarding the actual term and what it means. Maybe don’t go around telling people what it is they do and don’t understand. Thanks.

Then your original comment means nothing and adds nothing to the conversation. Should I just randomly go into discussions and talk about what words sound like to me?

Tunneling? Tunneling sounds like someone just digging a hole to traverse the map! What? I'm not referring to what tunneling means at all. I just thought I should mention what I thought tunneling sounds like!

and ive discovered plenty of killers who will sit there and use ######### like OOO/DS/UB/SG or BTL+Streetwise+PT+Commodious Toolbox with 2 charge add-ons. it goes both ways, no matter what you try and compare there will always be hypocrites on both sides (or people who just use strong things, not necessarily hypocrites).

But if the stats said that survivors are completely overpowered instead of showing killers are, then they would somehow instantly become valid and every single killer main would spam the forums with topics about the said stats. Oh the hypocrisy...

Technically, after playing solo queue survivor with all the potatoes, ppl who give up and ppl who tilt i'd think that if killer was struggling survivors would definitely be op.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1709492#Comment_1709492

so... Killer mains also play survivor, the majority of the time, but survivor mains don't play killer? Okay

To be fair... I think I discovered a lot of Mori/camping/tunneling killers are survivors and killer mains doing challenges.

  • @Xyvielia said:

That whole “Power Role” mentality sounds like a toxic ego trip. Hope that’s not actually the DBD norm amongst killers.

I haven't played those but COD and even when you get cheaters, they request footage. I've had to report it on console when people were using jitter mods. They still require game footage of what you seen or they won't do anything but tell you to record next time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1707754#Comment_1707754

The amount of people who report players for really stupid reasons is in the thousands. This system wouldn't work in DBD. There are a ton of things that impact gameplay. How could you tell that the server was bugged? Maybe the player was lagging due to the server? Maybe the player got stuck? The survivor was taking the game hostage on purpose? Maybe he just couldn't move? I don't want an automated system to ban me just because someone says they did something and didn't like it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1707761#Comment_1707761

Same as I said to Dugman. Too many variables to really use that to such a large degree.

Wait cod no longer has theatre mode?!?!? The last cod game I played was black ops. It had theatre mode, which meant the last x games (I don't remember the number) would be autorecorded for you and you could choose to save them to keep for yourself. Edit them too if you wanted.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1707739#Comment_1707739

They can only do so much and why should THEY record your gameplay? No other game does that. Its easy to record your gameplay nowadays. If you want something done, then put a little effort into it. Why can't devs just fix bugs that we see? Because you have to SHOW them what is bugged or mention it so they can attempt to fix it. That wouldn't even be appeasable to record hundreds of thousands of games on the off-chance of a cheater.

Doesn't a bunch of games record for you? There's csgo, League of Legends, call of duty games, etc.

Much less than 118 million that's for sure. That or they're really screwing it up in upper management.

    1. How exactly would having this discussion on another thread not be possible? Its not related to the posts topic.
    2. and 3. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/198787/eternal-blight-event-addons#latest

Were the underlines enough to warrant another post entirely?

    1. if this thread was super busy I'd probably be forced to make another to discuss it and clearly something new was born of this thread. We got more ppl thinking about the topic and we have new discussions and ideas

2./3. Thanks for the link but I can't seem to find that thread manually when I went looking for it so at least it's fair to point out that it's hard to find. Furthermore that thread isn't specifically talking about whether or not there is survivors bias (I don't think there is). And the underline is very important.

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1705400#Comment_1705400

What exactly is in this thread to warrant its separate inclusion then?

    1. I'm in this thread. Your in this thread. The other guy is in this thread. We're all having a nice chat discussing dead horses without 10 pages of people hopping in without reading things, talking about different topics that may or may not be about the original topic or rehashing old ideas.

    2. I haven't read the other thread nor seen it

    3. The OP took the time to have nice pictures and underlined things. Now I'm assuming the other threads don't.

You do know you don't gotta reply to everyone right? You can just leave your thoughts and reply to the people you choose. How exactly does splitting the conversation across multiple posts ensure something doesn't get ignored? The metric for something being overplayed is different for each person, Kamikaze and I both believe the topic is overplayed. Even OP does as they state in one of they're replys. You yourself admit you think the "horse" is being beaten mercilessly.

I was joking with that horse stuff lol. As for the other stuff, things get ignored in bigger discussion threads all the time. Usually if you make a separate thread with your own idea ppl actually answer it (if it doesn't get sent to feedback first).

  • @SCP_FOR_DBD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1704797#Comment_1704797

But is it necessary to make another discussion talking about this rather than just bumping any of the numerous other discussions people are talking about? Just because this is a recent topic doesn't mean it's not overplayed.

    @Kamizake12 said:

This topic got discussed AND that thread has 10 pages i think, so yes, It Is a dead horse

@SCP_FOR_DBD sure. Sometimes long threads like that are really hard to get into and understand what's going on. Ppl are constantly adding in their thoughts and discussions get all over the place. Sometimes a lot of good ideas and discussion is overshadowed and ignored. On what metric is something overplayed then? Is it cuz you and some other ppl talk about something in length?

@Kamizake12 I'd say that it's a living horse that's being beaten mercilessly. Don't just leave it for dead!

  • U know most of the time you're using it wrong? That or the horse dies much faster than I'm used to... Like DS op or spirit op are dead horses at this point. This is still recent enough I think. The event is literally happening right now.

  • Probably cuz both sides dont care as much while having pig. Ppl Boop the snoot against pig and let themselves die. And sometimes u just want to see your own head pop cuz it's a little rare. I think the opposite happens for a lot of dislikeed killers though. Ppl give up or are already tilted against them, while the killers become more confident and try hard.

  • It's probably because the devs didn't really test the serums and how well they worked on the killers. At least that's the current theory of why it says "may have unknown side effects on certain killers". They're not going to let you keep the serums in killer side in case things go screwy in the future. Nothing to do with sides.

Except that I'm not defending the company "no matter what". What I am doing is calling out an obnoxious, over the top response. I personally think that Halloween should always be their FLAGSHIP event, and probably a loss leader. I think that makes good business sense. I think this could have been handled better. However, I think we forget, as a community, that DbD is not their only game, they are NOT a giant corporation, and they have resources which must be stretched just like everyone else. They have people to pay, real people whose households depend on them. Sometimes they are going to make financial choices which we will never understand because we are not privy to all the information.

What I said, is they have always treated me and mine very well, exceeded my expectations compared to my experiences with "actual" scummy companies, and that they didn't warrant being treated like they broke into people's houses like Repo Men to take Grandma's Dialysis Machine back. My objection was to obnoxious behavior and an unwarranted (and unfair) response. I react the same way to bad sportsmanship too. I think manners cost nothing. I also happen to believe that if the same people (in the same numbers) had voiced their concerns and desires politely that we would have gotten the same (or better) results.

The key point I wanted to make is that I didn't get SPECIAL treatment. That 2.5 Million BP they gave me over the last couple of months was made available to everyone here. I'm sure not everyone availed themselves, and some came later, but it isn't just ME they have treated fairly. It is all of you as well. I have a hard time not thinking of Dudley from Harry Potter, ranting and raving about how he got one less present this year than the previous one. That isn't a good look, and it wasn't necessary to get the job done. Many people here have legitimate concerns and complaints. I had a problem. I communicated it in a polite, professional way and they fixed it. Do you see my point?

My bad for being overly hyperbolic. I kept rewriting it to try to explain what I meant better and it ended up that way.

I'm not here to argue about your opinion on how well BHVR deals with their pr cuz it'll get us nowhere.

Also, about your point on everyone receiving the blood points... Not everyone received the bloodpoints due to bugs and lack of communication. For some ppl it just suddenly appeared without them knowing why. For others they suddenly lost blood points. some ended up with 0 blood points or worse they had negative points. For others they didn't gain anything cuz they were maxed out. Things were(are) pretty buggy and the communication wasn't (isn't) quite all there.

I find it funny we call people apologists and white knights for defending people. Hmm I guess cops are white knights and military they defend people who dont stick up for themselves. Oh and those nice kids who stick up for the kids gettinf bullied. Because everything is a white knight in that sense

The OP is called that because they kept defending bhvr no matter the circumstances, whether they deserve it or not, and how much they kept failing. Even in the OP's post BHVR is definitely not... Well not great in performance but they've done enough for the OP. It may not be enough for others though and other ppl may not have experienced the same things the OP had with BHVR.

If the police, the army, whatever only followed orders without thinking about what's right or wrong then i'd also think that they're white knighting by defending things they shouldn't be. That's probably the source of a lot of problems with the police and military at this point...

  • "free" cosmetics for playing the game... You know unlocking cosmetics was the norm in the game industry right?

I can see why ppl called you a white knight or apologist. They aren't exactly wrong to judging from what you've written but you're not wrong either in using that kind of frame of mind. I think BHVR does deserve a decent chunk of backlash they get but definitely not what they normally face. I also understand that ppl are starting to get sick and tired of BHVR after all this time. If the game had absolutely no bugs and well optimized there'd still be bickering and backlash but nowhere near the levels of anger right now. Personally, I don't think BHVR deserves so much trust and benefit of the doubt anymore but they definitely don't deserve the vitriol they receive either.
