Ppl do call it out lol.

With the '5 min block' as it is now, they don't do any good.
They should be dynamic. The game can tell what's been going on, so, if someone DCs because the killer's been slugging and waiting for people to bleed out, a DC could get no ban for the dcing survivor, but a 10 min ban for the killer. and a marker for why. As in: if they keep doing that, their ban time gets higher each time.
Likewise, if a survivor insta-dcs against certain killers/maps, they game could put them solely into matches with said killer/on the map.
thoughts?
The problem with that is hatch exists. The game isn't able to detect what exactly is going on. Set something up like that and you can screw over hatch escapes. Or sometimes the killer is blind and struggling to find the downed survivors. I actually had that happen a few times lol.
-
It's pointless. Regardless of if they release stats or not ppl will make their own conclusions, like they already are.
-
Hit validation is on...
-
It stops killers from dcing. It frees up the queue for ppl who don't DC, plus at the very least dying on 1st hook buys a little more time.

It would make solo queue worse. You make a suggestion that they don't like and they go crazy on you. Don't listen to their instructions and they throw. You mute the morons and they troll and throw the match for you.
I dunno what they'd say to a killer who can't talk back. Chances are the killers will just auto mute every match or quit the game.

To be fair, the PH's played badly and even admitted it. They kept going for trick shots and flashy nonsense instead of guaranteed hits.
Plus, the survivors had some serious perk bans. Only 2 of each? Remove that and even Nurse cannot win. Technically, Nurse cannot win without them in the trial in the first place, but that requires a favourable map for the survivors.
Isn't that how PH is supposed to be played though? I keep saying that if a PH doesn't use the guaranteed hits, then people just say they're bad at PH. Yet, ppl want to nerf PH's guaranteed hits without giving him the oomph he needs to stay relevant.
-
Everyone already plays among us like they're color blind anyways... I couldn't resist the joke.
-
The thing with Myers is that he crushes noobs. Solo queue survivors feed him like crazy. I don't see anyway to buff him for higher levels of play while not making him completely busted at lower levels. Ppl are already trying to nerf a certain killer perk combo that's overrated on both sides. A buffed Myers would be terrifying.
-
I feel like I've read something similar to this except for Moris. The killer main said something like I only bring a Mori as insurance so that if a match goes south I still have a chance. I think that discussion was more about survivors insulting the killer for bringing the Mori and not using it.
-
@GoodLookinCookin said:
Of course the game would have to be balanced for survivor to be first person, but imo horror games aren't as scary if you are third person.
Just play killers. Us survivors do a good job at jumpscaring them.
-
I heard that the way it works is that a tile has a weight behind it. The stronger the tile, the higher the weight. Then they use those weights to try to balance out the map. It's definitely not perfect.

I agree with this. 99% of the change my mind threads are made just to hear people’s opinions and then say “no”
Cuz the more you leave your opinions around the more likely you'll get ppl to read it. Whether they change their minds or not you're still changing pushing things in the direction you want.

That's cuz this isn't a debate thread. I've already written why the argument doesn't make sense in those threads. Nobody bothered to answer. Either way improve upon the argument then.
I'm just going to say that you're not really arguing about the strength of the perk. You're actually arguing about whether it's fair or whether someone else is working hard enough.

I'm known for doing that. I gave my honest opinion on the subject matter as a whole because I don't believe it needs to be nerfed but wanted to contribute. You're offering no reason for discussion or rebuttal, and literally said this thread wasn't for debate. Therefore there's no purpose responding to the points you make since it's not a debate, it's just stating each others opinions and going along with your day. Not the point of a forum post but it is what you want
Because there are already like 20 other forum discussions doing a debate of sorts on this topic. All of them disappear into suggestions & feedback. I find that all of them just divolve into terrible arguments on both sides cuz ppl get their feelings in a tizzy. I actually want to find the best argument against undying + ruin cuz when I think about it myself, I don't really see the need.

@MeltingPenguins said:
They don't. but means to find and cleanse totems need a slight buff. Be it a totem counter, be it perks like small game narrowing the cone instead of the distance, things like that. So you don't scramble around an area trying to triangulate the totem while the killer comes closer as they saw your aura pop up due to undying.
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Ruin/Undying doesn't need a nerf, in my honest opinion. SWFs can deal with co-ordinating totem cleansing easily. Solo survivors need some serious information buffs, such as when any survivor is in a chase or how many totems remain on the map. Get these and a lot less people would complain about NOED too. Then, we can buff killers accordingly, knowing all survivors get x information when y is happening, and introduce more good perk combinations like Ruin/Undying in the future to help shake the meta.
You guys are really missing the point of this thread...

I just didn't want to write about why it didn't make sense cuz it was already getting long and it's not really a debate thread. Either way if I don't find it as a good argument you might as well pick a different one then. If it's your only one. Well it hasn't convinced me.

I thought entity displeased was the nicest way they could've put it. What would be better?
Entity disappointed? You lose? Defeat? Mission failed, you'll get them next time? Mission failed successfully? Entity sad? Entity lonely? Entity happy you tried? Entity not pleased?
-
All I'm getting from all these posts is exactly what I wrote about in my post about ruin + undying. Ruin + Undying doesn't really matter. What you're all complaining about is the fact that solo queue sucks and about certain killers. Oh no solo queue is struggling to deal with ruin and undying. Looks at the thousands of forum threads about solo queue teammates struggling to do anything but DC.
Was new ruin always that big of a deal? Add in undying and suddenly solo queue people are acting like they were always dropping everything they were doing and running around cleansing ruin as soon as they realized it was up. Yeah no... I only play solo queue and almost nobody was doing that. The only time ruin was cleansed was if it happened to spawn somewhere obvious and sometimes nobody even bothered to do that.
Then there's the idea that ruin + undying is helping unskilled killers. The 2 hexes requiring killer to be fast, active, have situational awareness and capable of quick decision making. I guess you mean mechanical skill? Dbd and mechanical skill... Something doesn't add up here. Is pop anymore mechanically skilled than ruin? I guess you have to hook a survivor for pop. However, you can try to stall as long as you like with ruin but you're going to lose if you're not hooking ppl fast enough.

@MadLordJack said:
Bamboozle doesn't really need a nerf, but it's also not a healthy perk because it forces hold-W. Maybe a full-on rework of some kind, increasing the killers vault speed like it currently does but forcing a survivor to medium vault it the next time they vault.
I think you might as well just remove everything and make the killer vault 0.1 seconds faster than medium vaulting at that point. That way there's still more of a chance and those that can consistently fast vault are rewarded.

There are no windows to chain on Thompson house I should of clarified. If you cant chain windows bamboozle is a free down. When the pallets are gone(the perk forces early early pallet drops) you are dead.
Wait how does the perk force early early pallet drops? You just loop and drop pallets normally. Are you trying to say because you can't loop that window 3 times now you have to loop around the pallets thus forcing you to drop them earlier? But then you're essentially saying the perk was always broken cuz that's how the perk works.
Now that I think of it... If there's absolutely no tiles to run to and there's only that window you're kinda screwed no matter what. Bamboozle will save like 15 seconds max for the killer cuz as you said there's nowhere else for you to run.

Nurse moves slower than survivors.
There were complaints. A LOT. She could spam her power all she wanted, the fatigue wasn’t enough of a punishment. It didn’t matter how many Blinks she missed, chased survivors weren’t getting away.
Are you really trying to compare nurse's MS and her power that grants mobility with me saying that pyramid Head lacks the mobility to use his power the way you're talking about? Can we just talk about PH and whether or not he can turn fast enough and shoot quick enough to even machine gun them down at a loop?
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1675902#Comment_1675902
PH power quite literally makes obstructions irrelevant. If PH had zero cool down on PoTD, we might end up with a broken mess like old Nurse.
I could be wrong since I don't really use him but he moves slower than survivors while using it, he doesn't turn quickly either and each shot takes a second to fire. I don't think any shots after missing really makes too much of a difference other than rate edge cases.
-
So let's Play Devils advocate here and reverse everything.
What's skillful of a survivor just jumping a window and getting a "free" escape? What if there is another tile a survivor can run to? What if the window is unmind game able? Actually I think there's only 1 or 2 windows in this game that are mindgamable. The rest are either super unsafe (aka the killer can just lunge and hit) or super safe.
I don't really care if they nerf or not. Killers barely use it and even when they do I haven't noticed too much of an effect on me. I'm even sure why killers care that much. It's not like they really use it, though I don't really get why anyone cares. If it becomes an unbalanced thing the devs will get to it.
-
Yeah. Chances are that if the PH misses they're not going to be able to hit you with a second, third, or nth shot with the normal turning speed, except rare circumstances. It sounds more fun for both sides.
There might be a balance issue of the PH taking the shot and missing then with no long cd animation they get right back on the survivor but they could just add in the 1 second delay that they already have for cancelling PH's power. Even then I'm not even sure that's required.

is this really what you wanna do bro, just give him a minigun of punishment of the damned bullets
Yes this is what I want. I've honestly never really used him much before... But I've played against him and I was told that his power is pretty slow/clunky to move. So why not put his cd at 0 and have the man slowly turn shooting like a mad man. Chances are it won't make too much of a difference but it sounds fun to me.

I disagree with this. Early game is the least impactful part of the match. Set up killers almost always lose a gen before their first hook, and a killer who gets a lot of pallets dropped early is in a pretty good position. Killers always have a chance to come back and snowball a victory. The same is not true for survivors.
Oh great. It's this logic that causes survivors to dc at first hook. Survivors always have a chance to come back as long as they're not dead. The whole strength of killers comes from their ability to pressure survivors. It's actually possible to clear that pressure and essentially reset the match back to near the beginning. Albeit you'll be down hook states.

The thing is they are not aborting. They are no longer doing a gen when you are trying to grab them...
Wait killers can hit instead of doing a gen grab? I always assumed that the killer auto grabbed every time a survivor was on a gen.
-
Yeah judging by the way ppl play this game and how salty things get... I don't think this will work. I think you're more likely to get more trolling when ppl decide to ignore/ mute some1 making obnoxious demands (or what they call "helpful callouts").
-
Grabs are super rare in general. I've seen vids where the animation for grabs happen and then don't go through but it still locks the killer lol. There's actually counterplay against grabbing anyways.
-
@ABannedCat said:
I think it is the fact that survivors were more powerful. Back in the days of 2017, and early 2018 you had double pallets, pallet vacuum, multiple sprintbursts midchase, and an overabdundance of pallets. What is a 5gen chase nowadays was a 10gen chase back then. So if a killer tunnelled you, you could easily keep them busy until the gates are open, everyone left, and you could still stumble upon the hatch during the chase.
This makes a lot of sense.
-
These pics make the hooks look decently far apart imo. It doesn't look too bad. I guess if they did make the hooks a little bit more further apart body blocking and sabotaging would actually work but then if some1 dies there'd probably be a hook deadzone there. The good news is that a hook cluster like this does make it easier for rescues too. I don't see there being a hook deadzone thanks to a cluster of with that kind of distance though, except if the killer kills at the edges of the map.

The Players most annoyed by it are those that perfected the Gen-Rush and spent all their time telling Killers to apply pressure. Well Ruin+Undying only works if the Killer is applying pressure. In short, it is primarily SWF that hate the new combo because it throws a wrench into their classic Gen-Rush strategy as they now must also do Bones.
A SWF that has perfected gen rushing doesn't care about ruin, let alone ruin + undying. It's the spirit/nurse/whatever that's pressuring them that annoys them but they blame ruin + undying for it. Remove the undying and all those complaints would've just gone to X killer needs a nerf. Of course, there's the chance that they're throwing cuz of the psychological effect undying has.

Hey all, I'm a player of both Survivor and Killer, but I definitely prefer to run as killer.
I find myself proxy Camping a lot these days because almost every lobby I go against will dive bomb hooked survivors moments after I start to walk away. I don't feel great while proxy Camping, but if I see someone trying to crouch around where I just hooked someone, I'm going to stay near the hook, unhooks aren't free, especially if you're trying to unhook in my face. Obviously borrowed time is a thing, but I find that usually 7 out of 10 times, there is no BT, just bad plays.
My question is, do you feel that proxy Camping is just as bad or worse as camping next to hook? Try to be civil in the responses please ☺️ We are all here to enjoy Dead by daylight 👍
What you just described is just camping. Proxy camping is camping using a proxy. This means a killer doesn't have to be near the hook at all as long as they have something near the hook doing the job for them. So think trapper trap or a hag trap. The killer isn't there but the trap is so it's camping by proxy.

Ah, yes, it is BHVR's fault that players are selecting the "Leave Match" button on their own free will.
This is actually the first post I've seen not blaming bhvr. Doesn't matter if they're pro rage quit or anti-rage quit. They all blame bhvr.
Logic of pro-rage quitters: they wouldn't be rage quitting if BHVR fixed their problems.
Logic of anti-rage quitters: BHVR do something to discourage ppl from quitting. DC penalties and removing the ability to suicide on hook.
Honorable mention: game is trash/buggy with disconnects and glitches that require disconnecting.

When they make killers so op with certain perk add-on abilities to where people don't want to play the game anymore maybe then the development team will listen then. I'm almost to the point where I have almost no interest in DBD anymore. All of my online friends quit playing and I'm about to as well.
There's a lot of quotes on both sides like this... And the more information you get from some1 who talks like this the more you realize that they just don't like the game whatsoever. The honeymoon phase ended a long time ago for them and they either continue to play searching for that rush they used to get that still rarely pops up or they have a sunk cost fallacy.

I personally disagree with your opinion on Legion; some of my most fun games are vs Legions.
I agree, fixing the reveal mechanic would make it less frustrating for both sides. And a counter to stalk progress would always be nice while making sense.
Hard agree on the TR for Deathslinger; it's such a cheesy mechanic that he basically has no TR, even without monitor.
Yeah GF reveal is a double edged sword. There are a lot of times when I reveal GF when I physically shouldn't be able to (mainly cuz of the 3rd person perspective) or my character is seeing something I'm not, while there are just as many times when I'm staring directly at him and nothing happens.

You're operating under the belief that every survivor is an absolute machine of perfect play, and discounting how important certain generators are. You can chain hooks and repeatedly beat down the same generator that could be high value due to an exposed location, and it will force survivors to reinvest in the risk of repairing it.
Unless you're getting absolutely crushed by map RNG and getting looped because you're focusing on an extremely good survivor with a build not suited for handling it, it's an incredible perk.
The OP's post is also operating under the belief that the killer is playing extremely optimally and the stars are all aligning for them... That or the killer is hacking lol. Even Freddy takes time to teleport to a gen and he can't be sure that the gen wont be finished by the time he gets there or that the gen is even worth popping.
As for your post it also assumes that the killer is playing optimally and that they can make it back to that important gen without it finishing and without sacrificing time or other opportunities. It's also not always a great idea to be doing that cuz while you're only focusing on that 1 gen there's probably 2 other gens being worked on. Assuming that 1 person is on the hook, you've scared one person away from the gen you're kicking and the other 2 are steadily chipping away at 2 other gens.
-
I think you're missing the point of the argument that ppl are complaining about the global sound cues. It's about how much they feel it effects the Demo not that they exist (another debate in itself). Like does it matter that you can tell you're exposed against gf or Myers? Not really since they're probably about to stab the person they're after with it. Legion? Less useful than knowing that another killer injured some1 since you don't know if the legion just turned and is heading to you.
As for the ones that are useful, he killer mains have already complained about some of them, asked that they be reduced or suggested that certain add-ons that deal with those draw backs should be base kit.
-
I think it closes on it's own but I don't remember. Been so long since I've used one.
-
Some are easier to "fix" than others. Then there are the ones nobody really complains about or they're accepted. All you have to do is complain about them enough and I'm sure they'll get to it eventually.
-
The sad truth is nothing you've written is actually reportable. As for should you do it? It's kinda a waste of everyone's time at that point.
-
Honestly I'd laugh at it for the first 30 seconds. After that it starts getting old and too heavy into the BM territory.
-
Technically, with dead hard or Sprint burst the survivor can dodge anything.
At 4-8 in the open it's still possible to dodge m1s due to how glitchy m1s are with the auto aim. With ranged killers if they have the perfect shot at that range you're getting hit. I think pigs lunge ability might still be dodgeable. Everything else you're getting hit.
At 12-20+ range, nurse can still suffer from a lot of glitches, including the normal m1 stuff (or so nurses have said). As for range killers depending on how far you are you could actually run out of their range if you're near the limit of where they're going to hit. Huntress depends on how long she's charging her power and if she's doing an arc throw or straight shot. As for other powers like Billy's chainsaw I can't tell, since I've dodged a few b4 but I dunno if those were perfect attacks. I think everything else is out of range.
-
You're right the gens need to be nerfed.
They take too long to do. It's impossible to beat the old world records of gen speeds after the nerf to brand new part.
-
Without powers wouldn't Oni just win then? He's a warrior. He has some armor to block things. He has long reach with a blunt weapon and a sword.
