    Untitled Image

Edit the Edit: The figurine is a fanart of Alisa, posted here in the dbd forums a while ago.

  • -The Legion has two abilities. Frenzy and DW. I know, that people often referring to just 1 ability, but they are 2. The one hurts the Legion and the other Survivors (pun intended).

-Your concept sounds cool, but I think the shape-shifting ability should be part of a completely new killer. Also the Legion got always advertised on 2 ways.

In the short trailer, you see Frank running, shape-shifting and then stabbing David.

In the long trailer however, you see nothing anymore from the "shape-shifting".

I am pretty sure that one day a shape-shifting killer comes to dbd, because there are just too many shape-shifting killers in movies, but the Legion fullifies more the frenzy-stabbing archtype, as a shape-shifting killer archtype.

... But that is just my opinion...

Don't feel bad because of my posting. I know that many people would like to see a shape-shifter in dbd. I just don't see why the Legion should do the job.

Edit: So even if maybe the Legion never will be a shape-shifter (we can't know it), your idea will maybe sooner or later found in a other killer.

You are blessed. Idk even know if its because of the rank or because I play on console or whatever. I mainly play huntress without addons and get quite a lot of dc.

Uh... So blessed I am not :).

In exchange to that, I often run into either swfs, or well equipped survivors.

Hardly survivors that I would see on the same skill-level as me, but that is ok. Only with better enemies I can by myself getting better. That is the hard truth :|.

  • I had in the last days 2, maybe 3 dcs.

That's not much imo. But maybe it is because I play most of the time killers that are not known for being "strong". So, I guess nobody makes a "panic-dc" just because he sees my killer somewhere running around.

  • Pretty adrenaline rushed in the first games as Legion (the DLC I had bought with dbd) and I always tryed to kill everyone until I first hitted the red ranks.

After that experience I had develop a more chilling playstyle and today I let most of the times a survivor or more go, if a archive-task not force me to kill everyone, or someone annoys me to much.

There are bad maps for both sides. I’m a killer main but don’t understand why other killers complain so much. We have so many op add ons along with moris. Keys and toolboxes are definitely fine. Just use franklins. You may think it doesn’t do much but coming from someone who has played a fair amount of survivor as well, it makes the game hell when you have a good item.

I see moris more as a counterplay towards keys.

I have only on one day use moris, but I need to say... Lately I start to think more often to finaly take them in the matches, so that I finally have counterplay against keys. The higher you go with your rank, the more keys you encounter.

Besides that, the animations are cool^^ :).

  • @dooces said:

    75% killer win rate.

whats with these killers complaining? would you be quiet at 80%? 95%? would that stop you from complaining?

-I need to admit, I don't know the actual statistics for the Legion after the newest patch. I would love to have a link for it.

-Imo, the complaining has to do with that the Legion currently feels clunky, not as fun anymore as to her first release and not fitting to the way they were advertised.

I don't know what people think who buy the Legion about their winning chances, but we can highly assume, that the most people think that they buying a fast moving killer and while that is true thanks to the basic and frenzy speed - it is not what you get.

Your speed doesn't matter if you are stuck in code-skeleton that punish you for every of your actions either directly, or indirectly, additonal to all the things other killers get already punished for even without any restrictions.

And not every Legion-change would be bad for survivors. A few small changes in frenzy as example could take the pressure from Legion-players away to tunnel and I guess that would everybody make happy (well.. ok... If you like getting tunneled you will be disappointed, but it looks like as would the most people dislike it).

Edit: With the last patch got frenzy already buffed and the world still turns :). Now a few more changes and the most problems would be gone.

  • I don't mind ds by survivors, if it is not in the late game of the match - it gives you one more reason to hunt them and with that, more bps.

However. With the stun stuff you are imo right and I also feel me "forced" to tunnel.

The frenzy of the old Legion had give you the peace to use it whenever you want. As a result you have attack your first target and then move on.

Today you can't. Either you can not use your frenzy abilitie, because m1 penalitie (that means you have to stick on your target if you attack with m1 first), or you really weigh innerly the need of frenzy with your current situation, because you know that you will eat a feeled 2 hour long stun after frenzy, or a stun after a missed hit and that leads at least me often into the situation that I just m1 the survivor. Even if I need to tunnel him.

M1 attacks have at least no freaking stuns and I can use them whenever I need them.

Should bhvr's goal have been, to reduce the need for the Legion to tunnel, so I need to say... Well it has backfired badly thanks to the frenzy changes.

If they would like to see a Legion that stays away from tunneling, they should buff frenzy more as already - maybe even back to the old days - so that it is a viable alternative to m1 attacks (I mean here just frenzy not dw, to be clear).

  • I would have a ton of ideas for killers with completley new abilities, but well after the first Legion patch my trust in bhvr has gone away that they would be strong enough to go new ways.

And that means I had never write my ideas down here (and no, they wouldn't feel as a Legion 2.0 - far away from it honestly).

  • I don't think they are incompetent.

However, I just think they are too afraid, to do what is necessary and listen sometimes to the wrong people, to easily. The result of this lead to a game that is dominated by swfs and to a horror game, that scares no one.

  • @Shraar said:

(caps are edits to be nicer)

I FEEL they don't know how to actually design legion properly

genuinely, I FEEL the legion are their biggest disappointments

the "gang of hooligans" theme? failures to deliver (they work alone, lmao, stupid)

the fast paced chases? failure to deliver (4 second stun, awkward vaults)

actually balanced? falure to deliver (considered the worst killer in the game, especially now that they were NERFED LMAO))

Bhvr has no excuse and so I will never show mercy for the Legionpatches.

To pre-patch times bhvr got warned from Legion mains and some survivors that the next patch would destroy the Legion as we know it - a already weak killer to that time.

    They have not listen.

Now in the aftermath they refuse to listen to all the ideas around the Legion. Nobody can say, that there would be nothing.

From a simple undone of the Legion patches to completely new ideas - they have a whide array where they can choose from.

And as such they deserve to get reminded over and over again about it until they have done something good.

If someone on purpose takes the fun out of a large group of people, he deserves to be reminded on it until he mentally vomits in disgust for the crap he has done.

  • You guys have revive a dead thread^^ :)

Even though the most problems are still actual.

    Btw. @Nameless

Best would be, if balancing would be based on the average player, because really bad players and really good players are the exception imo.

However - on the Legion patches you can see that they had not the average player in mind.

  • I would be already happy if I could set the ingame music off. Can't barley hear anyone whimper because of that sometimes.

I usually also don't camp if someone has not got me on the wrong feed and annoy me.

Besides that, survivors do a ton of crap and still whimper about things like this, or moris and so on.

Imo, would killers play like survivors, every killer would just play one of the alpha-killers, with only the best working perks and add ones and also moris to counter keys.

Thats not really the case by killers if you think about it.

  • Survivors. Nothing can compete with a well played swf. Especially if they running all the speed and second chances perks, what they in the most cases after my experience do.

Luckily you don't see them every match.

  • If you find someone toxic, it would clever to ignore him, because after my experience those guys are very often the same that are also very good in wasting your time.

Of course, sometimes everybody snaps and then that particular one has to die. No matter what it takes.

I can't give you many tips besides, getting better in mind games for that, but also flashlights are very easy to counter, if you are not stuck in a animation, like by destroying a pallet.

For this look to your left or right, so that the survivor that stays with his flashlight for you wanders on your screen to the right or left side of your screen (depending on which side you are looking). That helps most times to come still to them and hit them with a m1, or what ever.*

If you encounter bodyblocks, take madgrit. A Legion perk. For me are bodyblocking survivors the most annoying type of survivor, but man I love the moment when the penny drops in their head, that I am running madgrit and they going usually then in panik mode :D .

I main the Legion, but I also play a handful of other killers.

Unlike survivors that like to run around always with the same perks - I have on every killer different perks. Besides madgrit, because I really hate body blockers^^.

Edit: You have already to do this, when you see how he turns with his flashlights towards you. If a survivor with a flashlights turns towards you, it is in the most cases because he want to use his flashlight. So prepear yourself before he uses his flashlight.

You will still see the flashlight, but not in the same strength as he would direct aim at your face.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/112782/am-i-the-only-killer-who-hates-balanced-maps

You must main a high-mobility killer if you like Coldwind and the swamp. I also like high-mobility killers, but if I'm not playing Billy or Freddy, I'm probably going to be unhappy with a huge map. I love Hawkins, The Game, and Lery's as long as I'm playing Hag or Freddy, but it's a letdown if I hit one of those as Billy.

I personally love Badham and wish they'd give all the maps a similar treatment. It has a good blend of indoor and outdoor areas, most of the pallets aren't safe, and it still has a strong loop in the elementary school that a killer has to either outsmart a survivor or go through and smash the two or three pallets in there to make it less safe. Survivors have to win a mindgame and get a pallet stun at most loops to be able to move on to the next structure, so it puts more pressure on them and makes it more fun to play against as killer.

Now where we can both agree is that Ormond is possibly the worst map to get as killer. I cannot put into words how much I hate that frozen hellscape.

I thought already I would be alone with liking the game.

The first runs, the map was confusing, but later I have start to really like the map. Last time I was as gf on this map and it had *smiles sinister*... really made fun.

  • If everything runs smoothly, nobody comes up with an exploit and the devs can fix it quietly.

Of course, that happens not often in the time of the internet.

  • Pff... I still wait for a shirtless Kate. Where is the gender-equally-internet-rant-squad if you actual need them ? :(.

After that we can talk about grandmas :).

  • Hey, nothing against the archive.

While I could constantly rant about bhvr for some of their balancing decisions and the time they need to make some things undone, so I like the new archive.

    Finaly we get some story^^.

But yes... This game is imo in dire need for some new game modes.*

Edit: What the comments about gens matters.

Ormond is a beautiful map aesthetically, but it is a pain to play as killer. I would rather play on Haddonfield than Ormond. Survivors KNOW that Ormond is one of...if not THE strongest survivor map because I’ve had so many players burn Ormond offerings. Ever since the Balanced Landing change I have to say Ormond is the strongest survivor map. Haddonfield isn’t even bad, it was only bad with BL.

Yamaoka is terrible as well. Mainly because they change it to be super dark. I hated it before now I hate it more than any other map.

Corn maps are doable but I’m corn-blind as hell. Also depends on which one you get. The order I’d put them in from most painful to least painful is Thompson House - Fractured Cowshed - Rotten Fields - Rancid Abattoir - Torment Creek

You are right, that Ormond can be very hard. But well... I am a environment design victim there.

As said before, the snow... The house... Would love to make there holidays sometimes :).

If they would have a proper kitchen, sanitars and a internet connection and also some beds^^.

  • I love Ormont, even if everybody is saying that it is survivor sided.

I just like snow and I love the Legion. How could I dislike this map?

But I hate maps that have too high gras. Like those Yama-whatever maps and the swamp map. If Spirit was a love note to the killer community, then those 2 map settings are a love note to the stealth faction of the survivor community^^.

The cornfield maps on the other hand are ok imo. You can still see people between the corn - most of the time.

''If a killer forces you to avoid your usual tactics and force you into something new, you should innerly thank him, because that is the only way, you will be getting better.'' Bruh, what new tactics? All that survivors have is windows, pallets, mindgames and jungle gyms.Oh, do you mean hiding? With that bright as ######### atmosphere?Hell no, only if youre a blendette and we all know how blendettes contribute to the team.

In case of gf you can look at him as example. Its by the most killers not important, but it is advisable against him.

  • @Yamaoka said:

I've read as much as "one mistake and the game is over as killer" multiple times now and I gotta ask has anyone ever watched their own killer gameplay? EVERY killer does MULTIPLE mistakes EVERY MATCH including matches that end in a 5 gen 4k.

I often 4k at 5 gens and still realize I did several things wrong afterwards (like forgetting where I slugged a specific survivor causing me to lose momentum especially if I look for the slug and they get picked up somewhere else) yet I still 4k at 5 gens every now and then even against red/purple ranks with multiple purple engineer's toolboxes.

Everyone who claims killer gameplay required 100% perfect choices and no mistakes just isn't aware how many mistakes they actually do every game.

No killer plays 100% perfectly. NOBODY. Hell, most well known streamers make obvious mistakes every game and still 4k more often than not.

I can give you an example:

1 match I had tunnel someone too long. In this time, 1 gen had pop up and even though I had directly cancel the tunneling after that, it was also too late because 3 other had shortly pop up after this one.

It was my own stupidity that had lead me to lose this game, but it was still 1 freaking mistake.

I usual tunnel no one too long, if I not develop a personal grudge against the person I am hunting, but sometimes I still walk into this "trap".

Even I need to admit that I not just sometimes walk into this trap, but also as Legion main play a killer that is heavily depended on tunneling, since bhvr thought that it would be a nice idea to cut everything away that could give you a reason to not tunnel. Small rant over :).

Aww thanks for telling me what's stressful or not.

I enjoy playing the game. So not being able to play the game for long periods of time is annoying to me.

As killer I get to play which is usually not stressful.

    I didn't mean it that way :|.

  • @malloymk said:

I used to think killer was more stressful. I've done a 180 though.

Survivor queues are terribly long. So if the match is terrible, you get mori'd super early, get no points. It's a big bummer. Also as killer a mistake can hurt you but at the end of the day it's your mistake. In survivor sometimes it's the other survivors that hurt you. Maybe they run the killer to you. Maybe they boom a gen. Maybe they just play like turds and body block or try to sell you out. Maybe they suicide on 1st hook or DC.

Their actions whether malicious or not can really put a damper on the game. And if you're playing solo you won't get another crack for about 5 minutes. Playing SWF, you gotta wait until the end of the match and then wait at least 10 minutes for the next one.

As killer, if I have a bad match I know I'm going to still get more bp than an average survivor around (usually) and I know I can immediately find another lobby. No waiting, just another crack at more bp and redemption.

Waiting on matches is not "stress".

As example, while I wait, I watch videos on YouTube, or writing here in the forums :) and as killer can it be enough to make 1 mistake and you will lose.

As survivor you can multiple times miss a skillcheck by a gen, or while you are healing someone and it doesn't matter at all. You should only change your position then, but you don't lose the game (well... as long as not run then in the killer of course).

  • match making change... And 200 billions more typos... I miss the old forum-posting-edit mode :/.

  • Well, then your aim whas to bully someone, then at least it had hit the right one :P.

But I know what you mean. Its still suprising for me, how often I encounter on low ranks swfs.

Would I know how how much that had changed after the match making chance, I would have never prestige up :|.

  • Sometimes I wish, Legion would have again her old tr.

Can't remember to catch one ever off guard since the first big Legion patch on a generator.

But... With Ghostface and Meyers it works... :D....

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/917702#Comment_917702

But what about the immense stress of Ruin skill checks?? /s

I know that survs ruin dislike (at least I assume thanks to the dbd and steam forums), but play some matches as killer and you will sooner or later see what I mean.

But again, I don't mean it on a bad way. Sometimes you like to have action and sometimes you like to have more chilling match. There is nothing bad on the one or other from it.

  • I find killer more stressful, what I don't mean as rant here.

It is just... As killer, you have always to search and look for your next victim.

As survivor I feel only "stressed" (imo wrong word somehow for it), if the killer chooses me as his target, but if he hunting someone else, or I can make my generators in peace - aka. the most of the time in a match - I don't feel that much pressed and stressed.

  • Serious, even as killer main, I don't know how one could erase camping and tunneling from the game.

    It's like gen rushing.

Those 3 things exist because they either possible, sometimes necessary (what camping matters in very rar cases) and there is no alternative (depending on the situation).

  • I see the archive drives survivors insane...

    Diabolic :D .

  • For some survs, tunneling is already if you follow them more as 5 secs. They can't accept the killer goals and also not their own faults. Just ignore them and move on. There is no other option avaible.

  • I play currentley without addons and only brown sacrifices mostly.

I leveling my Legion up again, after I have a long time not use the prestige possibilitie.

I play currently just with the Legion perks and bitter murmur.

I play mostly m1 mindgames with the survs. Only in rar times I choose the frenzy abilitie. As example if I face stealth teams. There it is really a help. Besides that, I prefer m1 above frenzy and that also means - a lot of time were I would like to use frenzy - I can't because m1 :|.

And that also means, that I need to tunnel a lot, since I can't use frenzy because someone at bhvr thought that would a great idea to make frenzy complicated -_-

  • If a killer forces you to avoid your usual tactics and force you into something new, you should innerly thank him, because that is the only way, you will be getting better.

After my experience, gaming abilities behave always as would they lay in som sort of spiral.

If you go against better guys, or new game mechanics, your abilities rise. If you go always against the same, or bad enemies, your abilities fall.

Besides that, every killer abilitie is important because she keeps the whole game interesting.

I don't think that every survivor like to always against m1 loop hunts, as example.

  • To tunnel someone, after he got unhooked is not a decision made by the killer in many cases.

It is just, that he saws you, instead of the guy who had unhook you and ask yourself - what would you do as killer?

-Hunt the injured survivor down that runs around for your eyes.

    or

-Hunt the healthy survivor down that has unhook someone but hides now in some corner or has come out of sight for you?

Yeah, you guess it maybe already... You will not wasting time in the time of gen rushes and where nearly every survivor wears some sort of speed perk.

You will instead hunt the injured survivor that runs for your eyes a long.

What camping matters - that is a decision the killer makes.

Some may do it, because they didn't know it better and some may even like it, but imo - the majority does it because they feeled annoyed.

Either from a particular survivor, or by the whole group.

The reason for that vary from killer, to killer, but to teabag a killer, playing like you would untouchable, looping the killer for too long, or flashlight the killer, can very often lead to heavy injuries later on a hook.

That sounds almost like one of the small texts on the boxes of cigarettes :) .

So you may validate to play healthier, next time :D .

  • Also not every buff has to be a full rework.

The Legion would it already really help if m1 attacks would have no impact on frenzy. Even if that would not be enough to make him to a really good killer.

The Trapper would it already help if he could carry more traps and/or lay traps faster.

I am not a coder, but changes like that sound like they could be done in a few days. At least in my ears^^.

  • @palotheas said:

I feel like people always forget that legion gives information, which is pretty powerful in its own right. Like if really useful for knowing if you have to defend generators without actually seeing or hearing them. That's what he does better than hillbilly.

Unfortunately perks are a thing so Billy can get information similar to legion with perks like infectious fright.

But I feel like killers powers are there to help your weakness as a player. Like if you're amazing at chases and mindgaming but garbage at finding people (like me because I'm colorblind and just lose survivors if they 360 me), you can use legion and get the built in tracking and slowdown, then have 3-4 slowdown perks and gens won't get done. In that situation you would need maybe 2 or 3 tracking perks on Billy and no slowdown perks and you'd be screwed.

You can have all the informations you like.

If you can't actual down someone with it, it doesn't matter.

Of course, Legion can m1 survivor like any other killer.

But the Legion needs more to be really viable.

Either the Legion needs to have a lot more freedom in frenzy mode, or dw needs back to the old state, or something similar.

The Legion basekit was already to pre patch times weak, how everyone knows, who has play with the Legion - without addons - against average survivors at least (so that you could see the basekit how it really was).

So -what we have today is a Legion that is weaker as the already too weak Legion we had before.

  • As I had started writing here, I had try by everything to see also the survivor side.

...Until I had realize that it doesn't matter.

No matter how your argue, they will not care about what you say, even if you are a person with more experience, that are killer, or survivor mains for their side truley are.

And that makes as a result of you someone who plays also this game of toxic ignorance, only to hope that the one or other argument of you find its way to the devs, so that they may realize the one or other problem.

That is just my experience here. It's sad, but I don't think we can break out of this circle of the devil.

In my rework, I completely removed Deep Wounds and replaced it with a new effect.

I know. Your idea sounds also intersting.

Sometimes I wish, there would be a ptr online to directly test things like that out. Needless to say, that never gonna happen. I would like to make a test with your adjustments, thats for sure.

  • Would the m1 attack penalty go away, the map pressure of the Legion would already be better, because we would be able to use frenzy more often as before, but besides making frenzy stronger with this and similar buffs, I have no idea.

The reason for this is, because I like to avoid a strong dw ability. That is just my reason for it, because I prefer a Legion with a stronger frenzy abilitiy above a Legion with a stronger dw abilitiy.

I think even so far -and with this for sure to far for the most people- that the dw ability should be erased in exchange to a damage only ability with maybe 10-20% of the strength of the m1 attacks.

In exchange to that, we could hit people with dw multiple times again.

But that are just my thoughts of dw and don't take them serious.

The real and important thing are the m1 penalty imo and that you have already mention ;) :).

Yeah, if people are DCing over something that doesn't necessarily mean it should be changed, but it should be reviewed. Catering to DCers is definitely a bad idea, but if it's a lot higher than average, that indicates there are probably people who don't usually DC doing so because of that.

That was maybe true in the beginning of the multiplayer-era, but today... I have my doubts.

Today the people gather together for such things over Facebook, official communication platforms and we don't wanna miss streamers who sometimes encourage their audience either directly, or indirectly to do it.

I would take any bet that this results also in many dcs from people that are just angerd because of real life stuff, or that just hope to make the game in general easier for them and similar reason.

Imo, the people that are really upset for a comprehensible reason about xyz, are the smallest part of the dcing crowd.

There I prefer it more to see feeled 1k nerf threads as those guys.

You're not taking this in the wrong direction at all! Your opinion that "unfun" is an invalid argument is, in my eyes, totally valid! It's okay to disagree with me (or my example, I don't actually have any strong feelings on the forever freddy changes) as long as you're respectful and constructive! I'm not saying discussions shouldn't move on to other topics as the conversation continues, I just don't like when including stats in an argument turns the thread into a shouting match about stats.

I agree that BHVR shouldn't nerf something because a few people complain about it. Fun is definitely subjective, and what one survivor finds unfun might be a nice change of pace for another or an absolute blast for the killer. But I think that if something is consistently generating anger across one group while others feel indifferent, or if it correlates with a significantly higher DC rate, it's something BHVR should look at.

Well, I assume, I think the same as you about statistics, if I look at your answer to the Warlock.

However, its maybe just me and because I play online games already more as a decade (I assume... At some point you don't count the years anymore :(), but DCing guys are in every game for me just a form of toxic people if they not dc for valid reasons, like that they got a phone call, or that someone rings at the door and so on... Real life stuff.

And that means, in my eyes - they have no voice. As soon as someone says that he dcs, or that he supports such behavior, he can say what he want -I don't care anymore.

If someone has a problem with something, he can either try to get better in whatever via tutorials and videos, or he can write his thoughts in the official forums. That are imo the right ways to do it.

  • I would take any bhvr statistic above the argument "unfun".

Sry, for crashing the party, but imo is "unfun" the worst reason to nerf... Whatever. Since everything in every game is for some people fun and for some unfun.

We would need to delete the game, to make it not unfun for someone, while it would be unfun then towards the...

Argh sorry for letting me driving away in the wrong direction:|.

The devs actually did it for once!

They saw a problem with Freddy's addons.... and ONLY changed the problematic addons. Not another one of those BS nerfing base kit for no reason on top of it changes!

Just wanted to bring attention to this. It should just be the norm, but it's good to see that it still can happen anyways.

    Happy to hear this.

I had always hope to find sense in the Legion-nerf. If they have learn from it, to finally only nerf the problem and not "just everything, because makes fun for the coders, I guess?", then... the whole thing had at least some sense.

    Hope it stays this way.

  • Some survivors have maybe in their head how they got crushed by every killer in the low ranks, but for the most killers, that changes sooner or later and they getting crushed in their most matches in the higher ranks and they are usually more important, because there spending the most people their time.

Either because they play dbd, or they wait in the lobbys of dbd because nobodys wants to play killer there.

Serious guys, some people should a bit level up before they start to judge killers.
