I do more with those 60 seconds for the team than if I were to work on a gen. Callouts keep the number at 3 working on gens. The point of it is to never let that number go down to 2. Pre-rework, might have even hopped on a gen near the killer while they walked into a dead-end or corner to make the number 4 for a little bit.
I hope I run into more people with your mentality as a Killer. I would love having only three people on gens and a fourth doing nothing.

Give intel exactly where you are going and let them work on gens, and as that 60 seconds finishes, keep around giving intel until you finally chase, but since they know where you are, you won't see anyone else. Or go to Step 6b, Head On, keep running. Either way, if done right, I should be keeping 3 people who are full health aware of the killer for the next 60 (or more) seconds of a match after being unhooked. We play for fun, but we are a group that comes from a few competitive fps games, so communication and direction is something we have pretty well down anymore.
Normally we don't resort to going full toxic sweat like that unless its been a bad night with a bunch of Mori running Sluggers. Back when Dedicated servers first came out, it was about 90% sweat, 10% random perk BS games. Anymore, its 95% random perk games, or dumb builds, and 5% sweat matches. Just depends how the nights been.
So, nothing. You do nothing. I have 60 seconds of knowing that at most, 3 people will be on gens. And if I find someone else, that lowers that number to 2.

SWF Comms, I can 100% tell you that just ignoring someone in a SWF Comms group doing that is the worst option.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1921014#Comment_1921014
It lets me say where you are going, and they can do other gens the whole time.
What are you going to do for the next 60 seconds, then?

Never had an issue, then again, I do state to play in a SWF group for maximum effectiveness. Everyone else typically away from where the killer is going (comms OP), I make myself a nice and tasty target to chase.
Being in SWF has nothing to do with it. If the freshly-unhooked person is clearly trying to get your attention, you just ignore them and look for someone else. Either they spend a minute doing nothing meaningful, or they perform an action that shuts off DS, in which case fair game.
-
"Step 3: When the killer goes back onto you"
This is where the plan falls apart.
-
Okay, so you agree that the changes to DS are fine, then?
-
If the Killer doesn't tunnel, then you won't have an issue with it going away when you do a gen. If the Killer does tunnel, then you will be running anyways instead of doing something that disables DS.

Tunneling is, in my opinion, a very difficult thing to nerf properly. Tunneling can both be a toxic thing to do and a the correct thing to do depending on the context, and I can't imagine it being easy to come up with a way to properly come up with a system that mitigates only the toxic tunneling.

It doesn't take any skill for a leatherface is stand in the basement and just secure half of his objective. In the case of DS, something that is supposed to be a "perk" is lost when trying to help the team because unhooking someone loses the perk.
Leatherface won't be able to camp the basement and protect the gens unless Survivors willingly give him a second camp target in the basement. Just power through the gens, and that's a pretty easy 3-man escape.

From the DS screenshot changes, they listed all the objectives/interactions that will automatically reset your DS. So let’s say the killer decides to stay around the area and goes for YOU and only YOU after you’ve been unhooked, There’s no resources for you to use and you get back down, the killer then decides to slug you for 60+ seconds, you are not getting ANY use out of your DS because the killer decided to leave you there and you can’t do anything about it. Yes your comment is true and makes sense but only to an extent. New DS will be useless in situations like that.
Old DS is equally useless in situations like that.

This. It's not as much fun if I only have to deal with three people almost right off the bat. I also empathize with the remaining three Survivors who are now at a huge disadvantage for something that is out of their control.

What would happen if you pair these perks together? Object increases the odds ob becoming the obsession, but For the people Decreases your odds.
The new object makes it so that when your aura is shown the killers aura is also shown to you. But also if your the obsession your aura will be seen for 3 seconds after a certain time.
So if your not the obsession will you sill see the killers aura? And will you be shown after a certain time?
From what I understood from the perk description, being able to see the Killer's aura when yours is revealed will always be a thing even if you are not the Obsession. The part of the perk where your aura is shown to the Killer every X seconds only happens if you are the Obsession.

They explained by clearly showing which survivor has been hooked how many times, it might encourage people to tunnel.
Since you'd be flat out shown that Dwight over there is on death hook, so when you run into Dwight being healed by Claudette, you might decide to go after the Dwight over the Claudette, etc.
I think it's a lame reason personally (People who want to tunnel will still tunnel) but I understand the reasoning. I do think there should be more encouragement to hook survivors and not just tunnel/camp everyone to death. The widget was designed to try and encourage the mindset that it's total hooks that matter. (Which is somewhat true. You can sometimes pip from matches where you hooked everyone twice and everyone escaped. You can also depip if you camp everyone to death on first hook and the last survivor escapes.)
Do I have to actually follow through on using pencil and paper while playing to demonstrate how easy it is to keep track anyways?

Keys are exactly that: not a problem.
Keys reduce the number of gens needed for multiple Survivors to escape. That is a problem IMO.

If you search all boxes but the selected one, you get off it off as well
That kinda seems like a net nerf, then. Survivors would only have to search three boxes.
@Orionbash said:
Since Pig is from SAW I've always thought the idea of adding the ability for survivors to take a permanent debuff for the rest of the trial to remove Pig's trap immediately a fun idea. While removing the trap you could hit a specific button, your trap pops off, and then you're locked in a mini screen where you have to select one of four randomely chosen debuffs that are permanently on you for the rest of the trial.
This could be stuff like:
- Permanently exhausted
- Broken
- Slower gen repair
- Slower heal speeds
- No item usage
Stuff like that. SAW was always about making a sacrifice to get through his trials. This would not only align with the movies, but fix the RNG issue by allowing survivors to remove the trap at a penalty.
Of the ones you mentioned, I would argue that the only ones that might make for a meaningful "lesser of two evils" choice are broken and slower gen repair. The rest seem like a no-brainer choice to pick close to 100% of the time. You'd also have to make it so you need to make that choice very soon after you put the Trap on. If you let them make that choice whenever they want, they will simply wait until the last possible moment to take the Trap off to avoid dying, regardless of what the penalty is.

@Keezo said:
Personally I feel letting her set the box the next trap has its key placed in would make her power consistent, while keeping the suspense end of the survivor gameplay.
Let her press M2 while not over a downed survivor to highlight a box she's looking at yellow, and have it hold any keys for any traps she places(survivors dont see the yellow aura)
This would make it insanely easy for a griefer Pig to just stand in front of the correct box and sentence a Trapped Survivor to death.

@Decarcassor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1915511#Comment_1915511
Indeed. But in term of odds it does not matter if you have to find the right box or search a set number of boxes. You have 25% chances to find the key in the first box, 33% in the second, 50% in the third and 100% in the last (without add-ons adding extra boxes.)
If the system required you to search a random number of boxes, each number between 1 and 4 (assuming no add-ons that change the number of boxes) has a 25% chance of being chosen. The odds don't change with each searched box because the number of boxes you have to search is static. If you fail the first search, the odds of your next search being correct is not 33% chance because the number of boxes you have to search is not re-rolled between 1-2-3.
-
@TheWarNung said:
^ What this guy said.
Pig's traps don't assign you a specific box to find, but instead randomly give you a certain number of boxes you need to search before your hat comes off. New trapper will be much the same: as soon as you step on a trap you will be randomly assigned X number if escape attempts before you free yourself.
I love Pig, so it doesn't surprise me that she has the highest kill rate among killers. Her power is basically "make survivors stop doing OBJ for a while and also possibly kill them".
This is wrong. You need to search the correct Jigsaw Box to get the Trap off. It doesn't come off after you search X boxes, where X is a randomly assigned number.

Going after someone with a trap doesn't mean tunneling.
I've always hated that line of thinking. You having a trap on doesn't make you immune to being chased nor does it automatically mean you're being tunneling.
You are right in that chasing someone with a Trap on does not necessarily constitute tunneling and that a Trapped Survivor should not be free to do whatever they want without worry, but OP's idea still does actively promote tunneling someone with a Trap on.

People have been saying the games been dying for years and it will probably last for another 2-3 years but after that last chapter. It's certainly not looking good.
That's not a whole lot to go on.
-
I think only having to search two boxes is quite weak, but I also think having to tunnel the RBT person to make them search more boxes is not good design.
Changes to the ambush seem good. Maybe simply have the lion roar delayed rather than removed altogether.

They do let go if they fail the skillcheck right?
In theory, perhaps. In practice, it can at least partially anti-synergize with Dead Man's Switch because you'd only be able to kick gens that were not being worked on as the Obsession was hooked (since Dead Man's Switch prevents you from kicking gens that someone lets go of).

You fail to realize that while your description is true and does happen sometimes, the killer is in control of the situation in most cases. Once you have placed a trap on someone and see the trap activate, patrolling boxes is a very effective way to deny a survivor a chance to disarm the trap and waste even more precious time, bringing them closer to death without Killer having to hook the survivor 3 times. This is something many Pig players forget. They can actually force a survivor out of the game early by bullying them out of time with the trap. Again, something very powerful already that simply Pig Killers does not take advantage of and simply write the killer as a weak one despite not using its full potential.
Patrolling boxes is also a very effective way to allow the others to just bumrush the gens. So yes, you are definitely wasting someone's precious time. :P

Oh no whatever will you do. Kill the other 3, close the freaking hatch, patrol the gates. They'll either get out or die trying. They aren't taking the game hostage. You're in complete control. If you're slugging and sick of the hiding, you can end that. There's still something you can do to keep the game going.
They aren't taking the game hostage.
Devs don't agree with you on this one. If all Survivors are hiding for long periods of time and none of them are doing gens, that is a reportable offense.
-
That actually is a cool idea, but sadly as pointed out, this would make Object of Obsession infinitely more problematic.
-
@QwQw said:
There is no "fix".
It's a strat that's apart of the game and is here to stay. The devs already tried a system that would stop survivors from bleeding out on the hook if the killer was within a certain radius of the hook, and it was abused all to hell.
I don't know if I necessarily agree that there is no "fix." I think if you find a way to help the Killer when they don't camp and hurt the Killer when they do and then make sure that it can't be abused by either side, that could go a way to moving things away from camping at least a bit. That said, OP's suggestions are a no-go for me.
-
When I last played the game as Killer. I use them a decent bit more now that they're nerfed into the ground (and by that I mean that I actually use Ivory and Ebony Moris now instead of just the occasional Cypress). 😛
-
If NOED is in play, I'm very unlikely to try to make a rescue unless the Killer is occupied with someone else and the hooked person isn't on the other side of the map.
-
Survivors are locked into their character and loadout in the last 15 seconds of the lobby countdown (to prevent last-second bait-and-switch).

And the proper community reaction should have been to complain to the company, and critique the company response, rather than dragging him over the coals in the Court of Public Opinion. Especially when they just isolate a single statement to circulate and not the environment it was spoken in.
I am a bit annoyed that their official stance to revealing this early doesn't really mention that this is damage control, but I understand that by and large the majority of the playerbase has literally no clue, or quite frankly don't care, about this situation at all.
The problem is that he is a part of the company, he is speaking about something pertaining to the company, and his response definitely makes the company look worse. The fact that he was doing a personal stream or something doesn't change that because he is still speaking as a mouthpiece of the company, even if he is not THE mouthpiece of the company. It'd be one thing if what he said was taken out of context or twisted to say something it's not trying to say. This is taking what was said word for word and allowing people to judge it for what it is.

Im sure what he wanted to say is that it was planned or in the works or going to be ready sooner rather than later, but as they are a dev under a NDA he risks his job giving answers of anything close to this, and being badgered about it is probably the last think he wants when he knows any answer he would give that would ease tensions can be held above his head by his NDA
A simple "We're working towards implemeting it and will update when we're closer to completion" could be seen as a breach of contract and easily have him lose his job or worse
The correct response is "I am unable to answer this question, as this is not a part of the game I work on." The worst answer is "I'm getting bored of people complaining about colorblind issues." There are right ways and wrong ways to give a non-answer. His response was absolutely the wrong way.
