the only way to avoid it is to have sprint burst. or be standing at a window or between a palet. but then again that's just me and I never miss an ambush.

Just reacting fast enough makes it hard for your opponent to land the hit, which is more than doable when you have a loud noise telling you to react.

  • @Rasinbran said:

Stop going for ambush attacks you won't hit then

So never go for ambush attacks, then. Nyuck nyuck nyuck.

In all seriousness, the way the ambush is currently set up is counterproductive to getting a hit with it. The loud roar means to either gun it to avoid the attack or to be vigilant if you are in a jungle gym/loop to avoid getting mind gamed.

  • That would make the traps incredibly ineffective (inb4 "you mean more ineffective hyuck hyuck hyuck"). Why would the Survivor have to worry about the trap timers if they know just being repeatedly close to the Killer can repeatedly pause the timer, giving them so much extra time?

  • I'd say the stealth Killers are Wraith, Pig, and Ghostface. I guess Myers can technically count if you use the Mirror.

  • My favorite add-on combos are:

Last Will + Jigsaw's Annotated Plan or Jigsaw's Sketch or Tampered Timer

Bag of Gears + Crate of Gears

Any combination of: Tampered Timer/Crate of Gears/Jigsaw's Sketch

Other combos you can go for:

    Combat Straps + Video Tape

Video Tape + John's Medical File

Honestly, I don't think any of the Pig add-ons I haven't mentioned above are worth getting.

I play Turbo Clown build, cause I like some fun - Fire Up/Bamboozle/Brutal/Enduring

But, I suggest you to watch Fungoose on Twitch and YT, he's very good on Clown and overall. He has some tips on playing Clown, since it is his fav Killer.

This sounds like a fun, silly build. I wanna try it at some point.

  • @HatCreature said:

@TAG I like option A with Faulty Trigger, pausing the Endgame timer with the trap makes much more sense because the Devs want that fairness so give Pig players their RBT and the Endgame by pausing one timer in favor for another.

What would you suggest for an add-on for her Ambush? I really like the idea of her hidden blade effecting Survivors somehow, the RBT are awesome of course and allow for stronger effects but i know the Ambush could do more if we let it.

I like your Rusty attachment idea, I had thought of doing that at first but decided against it because I thought it could be too much.

    1) Hindered, maybe?

    "Serrated Blade

Extra jaggy edges allow your blade to tear through calves and thighs with ease. A successful Ambush attack inflicts the Hindered status effect for X seconds."

    2) IMO, every RBT penalty add-on sucks except for Rusty Attachments, and that is made pointless by Sloppy Butcher. Honestly, I'm not even sure combining all of them into one giant Franken-add-on would be OP. Alternatively, you could also just throw all those add-ons away and give the Exhausted status effect to an add-on affecting the Ambush. Or have both the Exhaustion for Ambush add-on and the add-on that gives a Trapped Survivor Mangled and Exhaustion.

  • @HatCreature said:

@TAG When I made Rusty Attachments I was thinking about how stupid the perk Sloppy was split into two add-ons so if you wanted the effect but not the perk you could use 1 single add-on for it and it would free up a perk slot for you. I was debating putting it on Ambush but decided not to because I find a lot of idiots heal before trying to take their trap off, even when it's on.

I made Faulty Trigger for the first RBT only to go with the Devs idea of not having one turn on during the Collapse. I personally don't like that design choice, yeah fair is fair but you're also trying to kill people so it shouldn't matter too much, let their head blow up if they get caught. But I made it the first RBT in case the Devs see this page and like the idea, maybe it'll get implemented but I completely agree with your version.

I made Serrated Blade 30 seconds with the idea that you'd let that Survivor go to get another but I see that I shouldn't force that playstyle on players, everyone has their own strategies, I'll change it. I'm also changing Secret Message as well, that's a real problem for Pig and I wanted this thread to be purely about fixing things lol

Rusty Attachment - I guess the bigger problem is that I think Sloppy Butcher invalidates a significant number of Killer add-ons. Almost anything that inflicts either Hemorrhaging (which isn't great to begin with IMO) or Mangled is made pointless due to Sloppy Butcher. Like, why bother having to use a Killer's gimmick to inflict either one when Sloppy Butcher lets you do it just by hitting them? BEYOND THAT, I do think Rusty Attachment is the only one of those RBT penalty add-ons that is slightly worth using in a vacuum. I think Hemorrhaging adds nothing to it, though. I think if you wanted to actually fuse two of her penalty add-ons together to make one MAYBE worth using, it would be Rusty Attachments and Slow-Release Toxin. That way, Mangled can slow them down from searching boxes and Exhausted can screw them up in a chase, and it would not be made entirely pointless by Sloppy Butcher.

Faulty Trigger - I hate that nerf, so I would do one of two things:

    a) Throw that nerf in the garbage and pause the EGC timer whenever someone was wearing a Trap.

    b) Write it out as "Reverse Bear Traps automatically activate as long as the Exit Gates aren't powered." I would not like this as a solution, but if we must play around the bad nerf.

Serrated Blade - I think the problem is that Pig already has the means to do the "catch and release" tactic using her RBTs. Find someone at a box, smack them, and scare them away to waste time. She doesn't really get anything out of doing the same with her Ambush. If anything, making them broken might be oddly counterproductive for the Pig because it prevents a Survivor from making the unwise decision to heal with an active Trap on.

  • Breakdown only makes you fat, not the person you are rescuing. :P

  • @FayeZahara said:

I like your addons cause really relates to the character.

It be intresting if she also on top of this have a wish for a broken key add-on that made you have to find two halves of a key in jigsaw boxes.

As a pig and amanda lover thank you and keep up the good work.

I used to think that would be a good idea for an add-on until I realized that it means that if the Survivor doesn't find a key piece in either box, they are guaranteed to die if the Pig chooses to camp either of the remaining two boxes. It's like the 50% chance to just die for Amanda's Letter, only if you still had the full four traps.

  • Good rule of thumb: If the idea is to try and weasel out of something bannable, it's probably not going to end well for you.

  • Why she is disliked - Traps are inconsistent at their intended ability to stall, and ambush is not good outside of certain loops. Certainly does not stop me from playing the heck out of her, though.

What perks would help her out - Mostly the perks that are good on just about anyone. Hex: Ruin, BBQ&C, Nurse's Calling + Sloppy Butcher, Spirit Fury + Enduring, Monitor and Abuse, Whispers. Of the three perks she starts with, Surveillance is easily the best IMO. She's not the best character to use it with, but it's not a bad perk overall.

  • @IMhereRUN said:

I understand what you’re saying. But the reason is killer mains play killer; is that it is so much harder than survivor and we welcome the challenge. If you move the roar to the end, she’ll be overpowered. You’d basically get a free hit every time, as the survivor’s only defense is juking (which only works on bad killers) or sprint burst away. She’s easily the best 1st hit killer in the game, no need to make that easier. And I’m not sure what you mean by sneaking up on people at the gen, there is no roar for that.

"If you move the roar to the end, she’ll be overpowered."

I do not buy that. At best, it would make it so the Pig doesn't have to stand up to attack every time she wants to sneak up on someone working on a gen. I think you overestimate how good the Ambush is at mindgaming loops and jungle gyms, especially considering that's about all it can do. It's doable sometimes, but it's not this supremely reliable mindgame that trips even the most competent people up consistently. I don't think she's "plenty strong" as you put it; I think she is one of the weakest killers in the game (and the recent nerf to her only made her weaker).

  • My personal opinions only:

Faulty Trigger - I think it should apply to all RBTs, personally. Or maybe even all RBTs once at least one generator is done if you want to prevent too early a stall in the very beginning.

Secret Message - I like the concept behind the idea, but I think it would be better served as a way to prevent feel-bads for the Pig getting bad RNG rather than giving a Survivor a chance to weasel out of their trap (even at someone else's expense) if they get unlucky. Something like:

"When a Survivor removes a Reverse Bear Trap after searching two or less boxes, another random Survivor automatically gets a Reverse Bear Trap placed on. Traps placed by Secret Message do not trigger this effect."

Either that, or just reimburse Pig their trap.

Amanda's Secret - Interesting idea. I've always been worried about effectively allowing the Pig to see which boxes a Survivor has already worked on because it makes it easier for them to know which box they need to camp. Implementing the "inactive in Terror Radius" nerf from before does help. That being said, I wonder if that would be enough.

Rusty Attachments - Still pointless thanks to Sloppy Butcher, so I don't see the purpose.

Interlocking Razors - I assume this is similar to the Doctor's ability. Not sure if it would be worth it if people can still reliably hit those Skill Checks.

Serrated Blade - My problem with this is that this would almost for sure not last long enough to ever be relevant. In a best-case scenario, you hit them with the Ambush, very quickly knock them down after that, hook them, they get unhooked, and if you are very lucky, they'll still be Broken for a few seconds? I think if you want to make this work, you are better off raising the time on broken by a lot and then upping the rarity to Rare.

Combat Straps - As long as you don't overdo it for a common this should be good.

    Shattered Syringe - See above.

  • "Workshop Grease" - Pure grease in a glass with bacon garnish.

  • Unless you were playing a dedicated Endgame build, the typical Amanda build should probably stay the same. Generic good perks should work pretty well on her. As for what would work quite well on her, M&A lets her get closer to someone before starting to crouch for sneaks, Whispers lets her know when to start crouching to sneak toward someone, and BBQ lets you catch Survivors either going to or working at Jigsaw Boxes.

  • The thing about this Ghostface is that he is only one person, so something like this wouldn't particularly fit with the original lore they have established.

Now, that being said, it would have been cool to see some multi-character-type mechanics for the Legion, given that the Legion is actually four people.

  • Lol, absolutely. Feel dumb whenever I do.

  • I main Pig.

    1) "What issues do you have with your main's powers?"

Reverse Bear Traps are too swingy with how well they can stall; can range from "pretty well" to "barely." The Ambush is telegraphed too hard, making it only useful for mind-gaming certain loops. Also strongly dislike that both powers are basically useless during the Endgame (RBTs do nothing when placed after the gens are powered, and her ambush is a liability outside of maaaaybe hook camping to snuff Borrowed Time).

    2) "Which of your main's add-ons do you think have unnecessary weaknesses, limitations, or underwhelming effects for their rarity?"

    3) "Which add-ons do you think aren't worth considering using even when first learning/leveling your main?"

I'm going to answer both of these questions a bit more broadly and just list every Pig add-on that I think is not worth obtaining/using:

    -Shattered Syringe

    -Workshop Grease

    -Razor Wire

    -Utility Blades

    -Face Mask

    -Rusty Attachments

    -Slow-Release Toxin

    -Interlocking Razors

    -Amanda's Secret

    -Rules Set No. 2

    -Amanda's Letter

    4) "What do you consider the least fun aspect of playing as and against your main?"

As - Getting the raw end of RNG and having your traps knocked out too quickly; traps being neutralized during the Endgame

Against - Getting crouch tunneled the whole time while you have an active trap on

    5) "What do you consider to be the most fun aspect of playing as and against your main?"

As - Aiming for the dream of getting an RBT kill

Against - The thrill of playing a life-or-death minigame against the Pig

  • Would it be a stretch to say I'm All Ears is "pre-buff Surveillance" levels of bad? Or at least close? The only use I could see for this perk is with Killers who can shut off their Terror Radius in the middle of a chase so they can do so when some looks like they are about to vault something, and that's not even all that useful.

  • The Huntress one that gives Exhaustion is quite good IMO. Also, for a while, people were using the Combat Straps for Pig; some probably still do.

  • I would personally like a win to be "the game tells you that you win."

They said in the livestream that they don't think the updated ghostface will make it to PTB so June 18th will be when we can test these changes. I just hope they're decent enough because right now I don't see the point in buying such a weak killer with terrible perks.

That's pretty bad. What's the point of using the PTB to test Ghostface if the only feedback regarding Ghostface we're allowed to give back is pointing out how obviously, obviously, OBVIOUSLY flawed he is?

    Based on what?!??

who else has made a successful asymmetrical horror game with similar concepts to DBD therefore qualifying them as more apt than BHVR?

    Don’t be so disrespectful!

BHVR are constantly paving new territory in the asymmetrical gaming space. There’s bound to be bumps along the way.

Based on past experiences with this game?

Will it have any interaction with Windows of Opportunity? Having a fake pallet not glow would be a nice bonus.

    Yes. Thank you!

We definitely have QOL improvements on the list for her but nothing to alter her power balance. Her stats are not mirroring the comments some players are mentioning in this thread. Im just being transparent and telling you our current plan for her.

Thats my last post on this subject, more info about killer ranks and where they stand will be discussed at some point in an official twitch episode.

    Thank you!

I mean, forgive me if I am being unreasonably skeptical, but based on recent comments BHVR has made, am I genuinely expected to believe sincerely that Plague and Pig are two of the most well-off Killers based on high-rank play? If anything, that makes me suspicious of the level of transparency.

I'm well aware it was tried a while back and they said it didn't work. Months before the Hatch idea was getting some recognition again I proposed said idea and I didn't see anyone else propose the same, exact idea.

    That...doesn't really indicate much?

  • @ReneAensland said:

They do, the Legion change was a huge part of the feedback. I know I was a part of that feedback and thanked the Lord when he was changed.

On top of that. I proposed the Hatch change, I told them the killer should be able to close it and the doors will activate. My post is on these forums.

They listened and for some reason, my post was picked from a pile and it was made what it is today.

    Chill out.

To be fair, the Hatch close idea was tried a while back. I doubt it was your idea specifically that they had in mind when they implemented it how it currently is.

  • @BOSS242 said:

    Yeah! Tell 'em Peanits!!

For real though, its been ONE DAY! My god give them a break. No one even knows how to play CF yet! REMEMBER FREDDY? He was nurfed instantly and look for how long he's at the bottom. I hope the devs have learned not to have knee jerk reactions to the community's cries.

On the one hand, it is fair to assume to give things more time to better understand how something might work.

On the other hand "spin the camera to nullify GF's power" is an egregious bug to allow through. That'd be like allowing through a bug thay lets a non-sick Survivor heal from one of Plague's fountains.

  • @Mushwin said:

No it isn't what i meant, a lot wanted scream and now it's happened there are a lot of threads with people not happy. Really? how else was this going to go? when most have complained about the killers since Spirit. They should of given the costume to The Legion and then this wouldn't of happened.

"a lot wanted scream and now it's happened"

Did it, though? They didn't get the Scream license, so nothing from the actual Scream franchise was implemented outside of the mask (which is a separate copyright).

  • I would also like to know this.

  • You know, I'm not even against this idea. At the very least, I think Ghostface should definitely gain detection perk immunity while using Night Shroud. The ONLY thing that may concern me is what would happen if a Wraith with the Coxcombed Clapper became immune to detection perks as well.

  • @ApeOfMazor said:

  • Here's my question: How does a Killer play around a Survivor running Mettle of Man? Or Mettle and BT?

in MoM nerf Comment by TAG
  • @Peanits said:

Enduring wasn't quite nerfed, it was changed. Previously it increased stun recovery by 75%. Now it reduces stun time by 50%. With the way it's calculated, it's actually faster than before.

    1 / 1.75 = 1.14 <--- Before

    2 * (1 - 0.5) = 1 <--- After

So pallet stuns are now even shorter, but it doesn't affect perks. This allows us to better control the stun time for perk based stuns without needing to crank them up to 11 just in case the killer has enduring.

Right, but wasn't the stun time for DS changed at one point due to Enduring? Why not revert the change now that Enduring no longer affects DS?

  • It doesn't solve my issue of someone using MoM to all but guarantee an escape.

  • @HURRI_KAIN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/504147#Comment_504147

I agree, and I've posted many counters as well, there are only about 4 killers that don't have a strong counter to MoM. Freddy is one of them, but he's getting buffed soon, so we'll see. Even so, even with just a couple that don't have strong counters, A perk shouldn't be countered by every killer, or why would anyone use it? Survivors don't know what killer their against, so it's stupid to whine about the 3-4 that don't have strong counters.

Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Wraith can't counter, Nurse can't counter, Hag can't counter, Doctor can't counter, Freddy can't counter (currently), Clown can't counter, Spirit can't counter. Trapper's only option is getting them to step in a Bear Trap, Myers can only play around it while in Level 3 EW, and Amanda needs to be able to repeatedly hit the same person with the Ambush.

  • Game performance issues on console + control scheme that doesn't allow for as much camera/aiming precision as a mouse = generally considered to be a lot harder playing Nurse on console

  • The answer is one second less than whatever you think you'd be able to get away with.

  • If I'm being honest, I'm not terribly in love with the idea. It's better than what we currently have, but I have to agree with @gantes that the Skill Check add-ons aren't any good against decent players and are better off being replaced completely.

  • On a related note, I recently pulled off the Evil Incarnate achievement. Yay me.
