If survivors didn't try to abuse every "fix" maybe one would stick, but so far survivors seem keen to try and use any "camping ban" as an offensive tactic against the killer.

It's pretty mediocre.

No. I refuse to give in to this bullshit. ######### MMR. ######### unbalanced maps. ######### gen speeds. The mind set should not be "Well..I get what I get"
The maps, gen speeds. Should be fair. I should feel like I have a FAIR chance to do well every match.
Not "welp this map is bullshit and these survivors know how to abuse it"
It's extremely depressing it's come to the point killer plays are expected to accept they can't win.
-
It's your teammates fault, not the killers. Placing blame on the killer rather than the survivors who put you in the situation will always be such a weird phenomenon in this game.
I'd probably let you have the hatch in such a situation, but I'm certainly not going to let you farm gens and such for minutes. My time is valuable to me, you know?
-
Depends on hooks. 0-3 hooks and yeah, feels bad. If I got like 7+ hooks or something and 4 escape, I'm not that bothered. As long as I had clear offense and didn't get totally smoked.

Stats aren't very useful if you don't understand statistics. Which I doubt anyone here has a masters in statistics or something.

Don't get me wrong, a 4k feels very satisfying and I try my best to end chases and get hooks as soon as possible (or slug if that may be better), I noticed that when I focused so much on preventing gens from popping, I put this mental stress on myself like I am always playing catch up and worrying the whole game.
In a chase, I feel like I have more control (especially with perks that help chases) and that's what helps me feel better playing as killer. With gens, I just kept worrying so much they would finish it before I'd even get there to stop it.
But yeah, definitely learning a lot. I'm just glad to be in a better mind set with playing killer lately :)
My question is how you are having matches that last longer than 4 minutes if you aren't trying to stop gens or get people off them? That's the issue I'd have. Matches aren't fun when they don't last longer than the queue+loading screen. And that's a major complaint killers have. The game can be over in minutes without gen regression/delay.

MMR is disparate among killers - your Pig is either higher MMR than your Cenobite, and/or you're running into some bad RNG on the RNG dependent Pig.
That said, I still feel my Wraith's MMR ought to be getting higher considering my 4k rate, but I'm getting potatoes too.
The difference is a max of 200 MMR, which isn't much when players can earn up to 40 each game, especially killers.

Everyone keeps saying that the hit val. Is fine. Its not. A normal attack would be acceptable but the way it eats powers isn't. Nemesis gets screwed out of a pallet and hit with validation. Now The Twins. If you pounce at a survivor and get validated, you still suffer the successful pounce cooldown and Victor stops where you got validated giving an easy crush.
Had it stop my pig dash when normally it should keep going and I'd often catch the survivor at the end of their dash. Very fair.
-
It's genuinely depressing to read posts like this that basically boil down to "This game is so poorly balanced that I have accepted it's not possible for my role to win."
-
I enjoy the map and I am glad to see it over
All 5 badhams
Haddonfield
All coldwinds
Both swamps
The Game
Hawkins
Ormond
Either Yamaoka map
Either Crotus prenn map.
I don't get the hate. It's not that bad once you learn the layout. It's not an ideal map but I'll take it any day over any coldwind map.

Would survivors find NOED balanced if the killer could just place the NOED totem over and over again by taking the time to hex it, and it worked at any point of the game, not just with the gens done? Let's even add the idea the survivor could just snuff it in a second rather then cleanse it. People would still cry bloody murder if NOED was a perk the killer could repeatedly place over and over again the entire match, regardless of how fast it was to cleanse, as the survivors would basically be stuck in a "trying to get back on their feet" phase. But killers are supposed to be okay with super-heals that they can't ever remove short of tunneling out every Mikaela they see, and being stuck in a permanent "Cannot spread any pressure" phase.

Not true, I always appreciate nice killers and give them the kill at the end of the match, if they want it. They usually don't, for whatever reason. They just massacre my homies and are chill with me doing whatever.
In 2300 hours I can count the amount of times a survivor has given me a pity kill (like a clearly obvious "I'll let you kill me because you had a bad game.) on the hand of a man who lost several fingers. Meanwhile "GIMMIE THE HATCH" is borderline considered the norm for the last survivor and people get angry if you decide to hook them instead. It's especially bad for Pig since everyone thinks you're an epic memer.
-
That's why you don't try to play nice with the enemy team. There will never be appreciation for it.
-
Why did they make it so you can see your grade when in the final MMR test on the PTB they disabled it? Would really help with all the people thinking they faced a God player because they faced a guy who played 40 hours in a month and grinded to red. Not a day goes by that I don't see multiple people confused about the grades and thinking they measure skill. Would be better if people couldn't see others grades since they are pointless anyway.

"It's a competitive game" holy crap I laughed so hard.
You should look up the dictionary if you think competitive/competition is related to balance. Competition/competitive does not have to do with balance. The literal definition is just two people or more vying for something only one can get. People get hung up on some esports definition rather than the one contained in the dictionary.

Dead hard by far.

Honestly it's not super useful because the people often complaining are people at high MMR, not people playing against newbie potato survivors. So the stats I'd want to see is killrates at high MMR.
-
Because the killer is outdated and needs updating. Oni doesn't have a cap on blood drained.

Almost a hour? What were the other idiots doing then since they should've just done gens and start EGC. They could've ended the game there just almost at fault as the killer for not getting the game to end and letting it drag on for a hour.
I mean they could have all been dead.
-
Since we seem to be on a track of buffing meta survivor perks (BT buffed to go off regardless of terror radius, DH now can eat certain killer powers) a change like this would not surprise me, really.

I basically never encounter successful face camping. Not saying it doesn't exist, but I rarely see face camping in my games.

And I've been playing this for three years starting out as killer main, now I do both. Pallet vacuums, instant blinds and heals, and super DS...yes, now is the easiest killers have ever had.
The game being an unplayable mess that couldn't even do save files correctly at launch isn't an excuse for it to be an unbalanced mess 5 years later. Nor does survivors being unbeatable at launch means that killers are good or powerful now. I've played since beta. It really doesn't feel better now than it did in say 2017, because now people are a lot smarter at the game. Survivors were powerful at launch but people didn't know how to abuse and use every aspect of the game to a scientific T like they do in 2021.
"It used to be unplayable so be happy it's even playable now" isn't a good excuse. Fix the problem entirely.

Imagine playing the game the way, you only do just to ruin other's fun. You are the first representation of community's toxicity.
If you think winning a competitive PVP game is an attempt to ruin others fun, then you do not have the mindset to play competitive PVP games.

Not good, Plaything can't spawn over boons.
The chances that somehow there's 4 boons up by the time you get a single hook is pretty low. Plaything is alright as a indirect anti-boon perk because it forces everyone to either destroy bones, or waste even more time blessing a hex totem. The people with boons may choose to just bless the hex (which will keep them off gens even longer) and the ones without boons have no choice but to destroy the hex totem, which in turn means less spots on the map to place boons strategically. It's not going to single handedly defeat boons but it's quite a nice perk against them. I've been using it a lot on Pig, who I think already benefits a lot from plaything.

MMR and recent changes destroy what was left of sportsmanship in this game. It's a casual game at its core, not competitive due to total lack of balance. Uet, the devs have no foresight and make changes that push it to being absolutely cutthroat.
I don't know how they come back from this without a total overhaul.
I don't know where this idea came from that a game must be balanced and fair to be competitive.

It gives people the false impression that pig players are haha wholesome memelords
when in reality that's far from the truth
I hate the meme because people genuinely get upset if you don't do it. Like maybe I just want to play the game and play as Pig and not meme around and let people go due to a meme?

We have alot of killers, but do you guys think The Entity ever be one of them? I'd like to see her in action one day.
What do you guys think?
The Entity is a 10,000,000,000 year old lovecraftian creature described as the source of all evil in the multiverse and world and who has eaten other universes. I don't think a creature like that really translates into a playable character.
-
If a zombie has not physically moved at all (is stuck in place) then it despawns and spawns elsewhere so it can be useful. Make their hitbox smaller for Nemesis himself as well to prevent extremely frustrating situations where your zombies bodyblock you and lose you a chase or even the match. The only other thing is you have to make sure they don't despawn from standing still due to stuns.
-
Maybe buff the killer so they don't have to tunnel people out to get even a 1k. Bottom tier killers aren't going to play by survivor rules because that's a guaranteed loss and why would you play a match where the outcome has been pre-determined? Maybe make her dash not a completely useless power, or make her stealth not the worst stealth in the game by miles. Maybe make the traps somehow threatening, since the devs clearly don't want survivors dying to them which in turn means there's no real threat from them and you don't need to worry.
People seem to cry a lot about Pig and Myers and their add ons or how people play them, not realizing people play them that way because you can't walk in expecting to play like Blight when you're on a bottom 3 killer.
It's bad enough that if you play Pig, survivors expect you to be an epic memer who boops the snoot and lets them leave.

But then you guys make 50 threads crying about tunneling even though saying "do bones" is saying "tunnel boon users."

The devs decided it was fair when they based killer MMR on kills, not hooks.
Instead, play fair until everyone gets hooked twice, then let them escape without letting them know they're doing that. As a result, you'll get to run any build you want, and actually get to have fun. And you'll still get challenging games when it pairs you against a high mmr survivor slumming it with 2-3 casual friend swf.
If the killer side is in such a horrible state you basically have to go in with the intent to lose and be a babysitter trying to give the survivors a good time then I think I'd rather just play a different game made by good developers?

In the last dev stream, they actually admitted they ARE working on ways to punish camping. Not proxy end game camping but hard camping. And killers deserve that.
They've tried dealing with camping several times and it never makes it to live because their solution always ends up being something survivors can abuse. I'll hold my breath on this next fix working.

i got 0 seconds killer ques, and 10 minutes survivor ques
Depends on the hours you try queuing. If I try queuing right now for survivor (10 pm my time) the average wait is about 3 and a half minutes. For killer it's about 10 seconds. This changes after about 2 am and then goes back to long killer queues and short survivor ones until like 6 pm.

If you're progressing the game you aren't being tunneled.

- Yes, I am having fun playing Nurse
- No for any other killers.
With Nurse I run a fun build
- BBQ for BP, because more BP is fun
- Plaything to confuse survivors and make them do totems
- Knockout is just for fun, I like the effect it gives when you down the survivor. You can also pick up a survivor at the exit gate because they are crawling slower. I really use the full slugging strength of knockout only if someone burns RPD offering
- Whispers to find survivors faster
That's it. Very fun build. No gen regression and I either win with 3-4K or at least go for lots of hooks. No reason to camp/tunnel usually.
All other killers:
I found a survivor, I chase the survivor, break the god pallet, vault window, they hold W and drop pallets.
Once I downed survivor -- 1 or 2 gens done. I am on the opposite side of the map. I am slowly walking to other survivors. They have done one more gen. Start chase again, catch up to the W-holder, break pallets... Gens done.
I've got bored of this. I need to run gen regression/protection perks, I cannot run the build I really want to because I just lose.
And I am usually not losing to the people who do mind games and are good in chases and take risks for fun. I lose to people who hold M1 on gen, then hold W then drop all pallets, press E, scream, but do not lose health state.
The last part is a big problem with things and why balancing for low level survivors is incredibly unfair to the other side and makes it unfun. The game is designed in a way so that low skill survivor players basically always have a chance even if they are extremely bad. But the mechanics that cause this exist at the high level, too, so the really really good players also have access to all these second chance and "help the survivor" changes that have been made. It's not fun to learn to play a killer when the game is designed in a way that you are handicapped and the survivor will be given preferential treatment (such as how basically validation favors survivors) even if you are really good at your killer and skilled with them. This makes it feel like getting good at a killer is pointless, since survivors don't even need to learn how to loop or get good to beat high level killers. The game has been balanced in a way to elevate the bad players to a level they aren't at and let them compete against far better players. But what is put in the game to give these bad players such a chance can equally be used by the actual good survivor players. And when they use those tools made largely for the bad players, it makes said good players basically unstoppable.

Q times beg to differ my friend
Queue times are caused by killers gaining MMR easily and survivors not gaining MMR easily causing high MMR to not have many survivors because the ease of getting to high MMR isn't equal for both sides. Just as how it was always WAY easier to get Iri 1 Killer than it was survivor. The video on how MMR works showed this months back.
-
Could have been a good add on if it didn't subtract from your 4 traps, but it does, so it's really not worth using.
-
Not unless you go in without intent to win and just make your own fun while accepting the survivors are going to escape either way unless you go in tunneling and camping 90% of matches.
-
Intentionally lose and play poorly so they are guaranteed a win. Or just don't care about their feelings on the match as they don't care about yours.
-
Took them like 3 days to disable dead dawg again due to an uncleansable hex. Took, what, two weeks to do much about unsnuffable boons? They didn't even disable the maps like they did dead dawg when it had an uncleansable totem. They just made it so you couldn't spam offerings for the busted spawn maps. If they were even fair they'd disable both boons with the killswitch until they figure this out. Wasn't that the point of the killswitch? Turn off broken stuff so we aren't forced to deal with it?
-
Really wish they had told us they were removing them ahead of time. Hawkins was my ideal Mirror Myers map. Was also nice for Nemesis.
-
Amazing to me that some people are trying to handwave this away.
-
Ghostface but I don't know how I'd change him aside from making it so his reveal is more consistent. Half the time it feels it just doesn't work. The character often feels broken and not in the strong way. In the "not functioning right" way. The other aspect is that the intended way to use him is to not get seen and then oneshot a survivor before they can even start a chase. Which is, kinda boring to play against. It's not that it's strong, it's just that it's not super fun to go against since it by passes the chase, where as other stealth types don't really do that. I'm not sure how you'd fix that besides completely redesigning the character to the point it's not the same character, similar to Freddy's changes from old to new. But I don't think he needs that, unless the intent of that is to massively buff him, since he's not strong despite being annoying.

It's something every Killer learns when they first get the game. Its easier to learn than using the killers power correctly. Yes, it's a very elementary school tactic.
I genuinely believe if someone never EVER tunnels, they aren't very good at the game because they refuse to use a specific strategy when the time comes that it IS the correct strategy. Yes, you don't need to tunnel every time. But there will 100% be situations where the correct strategy is to just tunnel. It doesn't matter if it's a simple strategy. They will come across situations where it becomes the answer if they want a come back and to possibly win the game. If they thumb their nose at it and refuse to EVER do it regardless of the situation, then to me that means they are knowingly throwing games they could have won, for no real reason aside from feeling they are somehow better at the game by intentionally losing.
-
How about make it a normal mechanic.
